Color legend: Non-dream Dream Lucid Lucid #30: Fire Escape I'm leading a group of perhaps a dozen small children down a fire escape. We're on the third floor, there's no railing (!), and the kids are wandering everywhere. I'm holding hands with two of them and trying desperately to corral the others with my feet. My anxiety level is out of sight and I don't know how to get them down safely. To my horror, a pair of the kids wander off of the unrailed fire escape, falling to the ground below. One of the fallen kids seems to hurt his ankle and the other gets a huge gash on his arm. I scoop the rest of the kids up under my arms and run down to the bottom, grateful that they're not more badly hurt. Later, Wife and I are standing on a viewing platform at the top of a skyscraper. It's night and I'm leaning against the railing, recounting to her what happened, still feeling really rotten. I tell her, "It was like some kind of nightmare..." I get suspicious, perform a nose pinch RC and now I have it all figured out. I'm overjoyed not only to be lucid but also that nobody actually got hurt and none of that earlier stuff even happened. I float up and then fly off into the night, forgetting entirely to say goodbye to Wife. I fly over the city, circling around another skyscraper before banking left. Ahead of me is an empty bridge that crosses a bay. I fly under it, performing a high-speed barrel roll as I go. It feels amazing, but as I emerge from under the bridge, my vision goes completely dark. I'm still flying, though. I can feel cool air rushing past my body, so I just go with it, flying blind for a while. I don't want to lose my lucidity so I start belting out songs that talk about flying. I think that I may have mostly performed Foo Fighters' "Learn to Fly" but I sometimes suffer from musical confusion in lucid dreams. Whatever song it was, I was really going for it and I became vaguely worried that my sleeping body might be singing too. I suddenly find myself standing in our master bedroom, no longer in flight. The room's dark and Wife is asleep on her side of the bed, but I'm not fooled. Still dreaming. For some reason, I drag our bookcase out into the middle of the room to see how realistic it feels. (Very.) But then I worry that Wife will get up to go the bathroom and run into it, so I shove it back into place. I float downstairs and head to the back door. I know that it's deadbolted shut, so I phase through, the glass pane chilling my skin like cool water. I remember that I want to find Purgatory for the Task of the Month. I imagine as Dante described it -- as a terraced mountain located somewhere in the seas of the southern hemisphere. I take flight again and start looking for it. I realize now that I flew north instead of south... oops! Somehow I wind up flying into a huge cavern that takes me downward into a sewer, where I'm soon lost. Rather than flowing with things, I become alarmed and want to find my way out of this "mess" to get back on track. The ceilings are low so I'm forced to run through the (fortunately quite pristine) sewer water. There's daylight somewhere up ahead and I race through twisting, turning passageways to find it. I finally spot a hole in the ceiling up ahead with daylight streaming through it (is it daytime now?) Unfortunately, along with the daylight, a steady stream of enormous, squealing rats is pouring in through the hole as well. They come right for me, and I'm not thinking clearly enough to come up with a clever plan. I punch the rats in the head or their potato-like bodies when they draw near, and each time I do the rat flops limply onto its back, not moving. I'm almost to the hole when Erik Estrada himself steps in front of me, telling me to stop. I've unfortunately gotten swept up into caveman mode and I summon a weapon with which to fight Erik Estrada. Fortunately, I look at my right hand and discover that the "weapon" I summoned is just a modest zucchini squash. As the dream fades, I tell Erik Estrada that I am "really sorry about that", but he doesn't seem to hear.
3-22-12 I had left what must have been my dorm and headed down the road toward what I think was the cafeteria when I noticed that it was going to rain. Not wanting to get wet, I quickly ducked into a building on my right. The door was locked, but whoever had locked up the building must have forgotten to shut the door properly, because it had not latched, so I was able to go in. Inside, there were two staircases made like fire escapes: corrugated metal patterns that you can see through. I took the one on my right up a floor and found a door in the wall (that would have led outside, I think) and another flight. After going up another floor, I noticed that it was raining heavily outside. As I wandered around the building, more and more there were no solid walls, and more and more these metal staircases were the only thing in this 30x100 foot building. Then the hobo showed up. I call him that because I'm not sure what else to call him. He wore a grimy old torn suit coat over a dirty shirt, pants, and a beat-up top hat; he looked like he must have walked out of the pages of a Mark Twain novel or something. Either way, he began mumbling pretty much incoherently and never stopped, even when I ran. (he was really creepy, okay? And it seemed that he was going to get was he wanted out of me however he needed to.) In general, I just legged it around, tromping up and down the 4+ floors of these clanky, see-through fire-escape-staircases inside what I had thought was a classroom hall. >_< All the while, the hobo trailed after me, mumbling like a mentally retarded 12-year-old. He often referred to someone who he seemed to oppress him by not giving him what he wanted all the time; someone he called "Mr. Slippy". At one point, a girl in her later teens showed up through a ground-floor side door, but she didn't seem to mind the hobo, and I didn't stop to talk to her. I remember that there was a very shallow flight of stairs that I ran... across, more or less. It had a rise of maybe four feet and a run of thirty or forty. I say across, because it was pivoted in the middle and really just landed me on the floor as before. I went up a few more levels and saw ahead of me the girl and the hobo standing there, the one being silent (as usual) and the other mumbling (as usual) and yet again mentioning "Mr. Slippy". I ducked (really hairpin-turned) to my right and saw to playplace-style tube slides, both wet and both going down. Glancing over my shoulder and seeing the hobo shuffling over toward me, I dove into the slide on the right, which returned me to ground level and the door I had first come through. Well... I exited the building without any regret (it had even stopped raining) and continued to walk to lunch. Along the way, I joined one guy who seemed nice, and I asked him about the hobo. I don't remember all that he said, bud he seemed to think they guy was pretty harmless, which is believable since the girl earlier didn't seem to think differently. We were about to enter the cafeteria when my alarm clock went off The thing that scared me about the hobo (as far as I can tell), is that he seemed to be one of those retarded (literally) people that doesn't want to hurt you, but complains about everything and will get insanely upset if you don't agree or if you won't share what he wants with him. And somehow I didn't have the guts to just take and give a good beating? Eh. As soon I turned off my alarm, I noted that I wish I had been lucid so that I could have beaten some contentedness into the hobo. :/ Call me morbid, but I really just wanted the guy to stop complaining.
7:00 AM The small town where I live was somehow transferred into urban sprawl with high rise buildings and trash in the streets. I was talking to a lesbian couple I met walking down this metal grated walk-way(kinda like walkway made out of fire escapes.) One was saying something about her career and it sounded cool. I was so happy for her that I clapped and jumped up and down. For some reason I took off running parkour style around the block. When I got back around the other side I was on ground level. I saw my next door neighbors VW bug driving by as he honked. I then noticed that a restaurant over to my right was picking up a large order.......
Dream #1: I was with two hardened criminals. We were in a wide entry hall past the first set of double doors. One of them I took to be some sort of mastermind. He was showing us a device that beamed intense light into multiple security cameras at once. It also had a motion tracking gun to fire on anyone who interfered. I got the impression we had rehearsed this particular heist a few times. When we were finally set up for the real thing, straight away a guard entered the hall through a side door and the auto-tracking gun shot him in the head, killing him instantly. An alarm sounded. I said "Does your machine have a way to deal with this alarm?" He said "No. Run." I could hear sirens in the distance as we fled the scene into the city streets. Plenty of people were noticing us as it was just before dark. The city was unfamiliar. The "mastermind" told us to dump our top layer of clothes as we entered an alley way. We each did. I noticed we were wearing a lot of stripes and scarfs. We made our way up a fire escape and I could hear and see police lights bouncing on building walls nearby. I felt intensely stressed out. I started questioning in my mind how I allowed myself to become involved in such a terrible scheme. I thought, "Maybe this is dream?" My partners in crime were starting to get far ahead of me by roof top. I was thinking, "If this a dream, I should just jump off this building..." I hesitated. It was a good 10-story drop. I stood on top of a metal ventilation box to launch off from. Again I paused. Then decided, may as well! And I jumped... Immediately I sailed into the air unaffected by gravity. I was extremely relieved at first, then excited to be lucid again. I glided around the city for a while looking for what I might do next. I spotted a power plant out of the downtown area and in a rural suburb with plenty of woods nearby. As I went to land, I noticed there was a mass of power lines blocking me. I grabbed a hold of one with each hand and had the thought, "This might electrocute me." But nothing happened. So I decided to try something. I glided around the power plant collecting as many lines as I could hold. I had dozens when I landed. I proceeded to coil them up into a braided strand by tossing them out, like one unwinds a garden hose. Once they were thick and intertwined, I looked around at the houses in the area. None had lights on. I held my right hand up the spit ends to send power to all the houses using my right hand. A huge burst of electricity emitted from my right hand. (Straight up dark side of the force.) I was thrilled at the raw power and visual quality of this effect. I looked around at the houses. Still they had no lights on. I did it again with more intensity. Again, a massive burst of fantastic electricity arched from my right hand into the power lines. I looked up again, and all the houses were light up now. --Then I woke up. Dream #2: (I believe this dream started almost instantly when I fell back to sleep.) I was going to pick up my girlfriend from a party. I believe I was running, but at car like speeds. When I arrived at the party I was winded and the cops were there doing sobriety checks. I told them, "Hey, I just arrived." The lady cop said, "Yeah but did you drive sober?" I remember feeling unsure. My GF emerged from within the house and told me she was ready to leave. We were on foot so the cops let us go on the spot. We walked to a coffee shop I have never seen before. There was a good number of people sitting around. I went in for a kiss, and she said "Hey, not in public!" My lucidity from the last dream suddenly returned. I said "Oh these people are dead." -And with that, pointed my hands and fingers outward around me. No visual electricity emerged, but everyone was struck, there blood splattered against the walls, and they slumped over dead. -My girlfriend was horrified by this display. I said "Don't worry." And repeated the same action again. The death was reversed and everyone came back to life astonished, laughing, and looking at me intently. I told them, "Leave us alone now, go tell everyone you died and were resurrected better people than you were before." They were delighted. Formed a single file line, and left the coffee shop. I leaned over and kissed my girlfriend. --Then I woke up.
