    1. #195. Keeping Up Appearances

by , 08-13-2015 at 04:10 PM (Things to Run Away From Really Fast)
Mulcair kicks Harper out of his office, and the group of politicians and staffers watch a jug on the desk to see whether their party actually won the election. If the jug fills up with mostly orange liquid, the NDP definitely win.

They do, and the newspapers are printing stories that are all about the doom of Canada.

I'm apparently one of the staffers. Mulcair seems nice, even though (in the dream) he has a reputation of being quite cold and ruthless.

      ---

There's a family similar to the Queens in the first season of Arrow. The younger sister is angry and hurt because she's being deliberately shunned by another member of the family. They're in public, but she runs away from the group anyway, despite the paparazzi that are around. Some of them follow her, and she ducks into a seller's tent that is inside the mall to hide from them.

Later, a group of us are in an elevator. I'm examining the multiple security cameras, which apparently aren't operational because the family demands a lot of privacy.

There's a problem with the elevator. On the main floor, about half of us pile out quickly before the doors slam shut behind us and the elevator quickly starts going back up. The technician is working on the elevator so that it will come back down and let the other people out.

I briefly see the person that I reported to directly in a job that didn't work out very well earlier this year.

Beyonce is performing inside the mall.

      ---

I'm a teenager having a sleepover. We're all girls. There are three of us. One of the girls might not have asked her parents if she actually was allowed to sleep over.

We talk about how one of the girls really didn't like the imagination game that we were playing. I said that maybe we should play Gargoyles or something. She asks if that's a computer game? I say no, we could just pretend we were gargoyles, that would be more exciting than pretending we were in school (or that we were having a sleepover?)

That girl goes home in the morning. I ask her to tell her brother to call me (while making the "call me" hand gesture.)

      ---

There's narration, and a set. I'm both in the story itself and the story is being filmed. It's all about a whole bunch of "darker" characters interacting with one another. One of the characters who exists in the light is fascinated by the idea of talking to a couple of the characters who stay in the shadows.
    2. 2 Lucids in a row and the search for the Neconomicon

      Lucid, non-Lucid, Additional Notes

      * I don't remember the first part because of it's very distant and didn't last too much. I just remember I became lucid in some ordinary situation and perhaps I was unsuccessfully looking for some lucid sex but didn't have much time before the dream started to fade out to partially wake up and hear the clock of my room for a while...

.../Now I'm walking in some narrow streets looking for my train station when I get to a very steep street that I have to walk sideways to avoid sliding. It reminds me that I use to find these kind of streets just in my dreams. RC confirms it the same way of the first part. I get to the other side where it was supposed to be the train station but there's a sort of street market there. I see a ladder leading to an upper small platform. I decide to go up there but I want to get there playing with some teleportation. I decide I will get in two steps. When I step on it for the second time the ladder sinks until its upper bottom is on my feet. I like my subC joke. I have to climb to reach the top. Now I see some people from above and the street which is wet as it has recently rained. I want to step on the floor changing my size by playing with my perspective. Once again I just teleport stumbling to the ground. This time it's not working, I keep on walking through some stands when I remember there are some TotM but I cannot remember any of them. I have a very long walk trying to remember, but I don't want to focus too much in forcing my memory to come back because of it could destabilize the dream. I decide the memory must come in a natural way. I realize I'm walking inside a house, getting from a room to another and so on. It looks like a neighboring city of my grandparent's town. The last room I get in is a kitchen where there are no more doors to follow. I see some grilled chickens on a table. I remember I like the taste of the grilled skin, so I take the whole skin out of a chicken and put it in my mouth. The flavor is good but then I spit it out because I don't like to eat it. A woman gets in the kitchen and objurgates my behavior. I don't care and decide to go out through the window. I get in my grand parent's house yard. I still cannot remember any TotM, I just know there are some easy to do but my memory is complete blank this time. I think perhaps there are some other options to remember when it hits me all of the sudden, the Lucid Dares!! Of course, Percy asked me to find the Necronomicon and raise some zombies. I see downstairs the old bakery oven room is still there. I remember there was something with fighting a beast around (). I find this place perfect to find the mentioned book. I know it must be black and have a weird graphic on its cover. I get in the room and see three coffins down there. The beast must be sleeping in the huge one, around 4 or 5 meters tall. I see the interior of one of the little ones which are arranged to the sides of the big one. There's a statue in the shape of a gargoyle
although it's red and is all covered in dust. I'm curious to see the beast, I know it was an epic dream when I fought it. I open its coffin. Another dusty red statue although bigger, muscular, with a bearded human face and huge wings. It's in a standing position holding an axe like it is the keeper of a gate or some. In the background starts playing "Two Steps from Hell" from Protectors of the Earth. I think they are sleeping because of it's daylight and I should better hurry before they wake up. I'm not intending to wake up these three little beauties. I decide to look for the book first. There are a lot of books here and there between the ruins of this place. None calls my attention to say it's the one I'm looking for. There's a bookshelf on the darker side of this room. I decide it must be there because of it's taking too much time. I see a big black book in the upper side of the shelf and decide that's the one I'm looking for. I cannot reach it because of there are some other things piled up in front of it, including a wooden model of a ship which reminds me the one I used to play with when I was a kid. I decide to use telekinesis to bring the book to my hand. It takes some effort before the book falls on the ship. I can hold it before it's a complete mess here. I don't want to wake up the beast by the moment. I don't see any peculiar sign on its cover. I open it and realize it's some Geography book, full of maps! Of course it was the book I found when I was trying to accomplish the fractal dare for the first time. It was full of maps, that was why I didn't find it interesting because of it had no sense at all!!! I flip through the book looking for something special, but it's just full of maps. At this point I hear my dad's radio is playing some Latin music in the background. I think somebody must be working around and that's why it's getting in the dream when everything starts to fade out to black.

      * Woke up after that with the tic tac sound of the clock... no music around.

    3. 2 Sep: jumping through lucid dreams+ false awakening

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID FALSE AWAKENING

      23:30 GMT – Sleep

      Adventure in Southeast Asia
I am in an exotic country, like maybe India and I feel both the weather and the socio-political scene is unstable. I am staying at this colonial style house that was lent by a friend. We both live in the west and she stays away from this house for months in a row. There had been intense rains and since I was coming to here she wanted me to check if everything was ok and not flooded. It was ok, but intense raining started all over, so I could not guarantee it would stay that way.
There’s also a lot of commotion on the streets and I decide to take the van just outside the gate of the property, ready to leave at any time, just in case something goes wrong and things heat up.
I am also being spied on and followed and I already spotted this guy always looking over my shoulder wherever I go.

      3:40 GMT

Some other dreamer’s house and memories?
I am lying in bed, with my laptop and I am checking dream journals and replying to some. I found this guy who found out he is dreaming about some house for some time and he suspects it is the house of some other dreamer. I also find out I have dreamt a few times about his own house or more precisely, some surroundings around his house - it's on top of a mountain or hill and there's a road going there with a little tunnek trhought the mountain.
I am going trough this when I hear some noise. I look around and my room isn’t really my room. I am at this big house, I don’t know of whom. I go out of the room and the noise seems to come from the kitchen which is one or 2 doors on the left. The house is rectangular, with a large hallway in the middle, crossing the house from one side to the other.
Everything is absolutely dark but there’s some clarity coming from under the kitchen’s door. I wonder if there’s someone inside, open the door and after all it is also dark. I assume the light was some reflection, maybe from the moonlight.
When I decide to go back to the room, I suddenly watch this scene as if hovering on a different plane/dimension: a guy is coming down the hallway from the room (just as I did), because he heard some noise in the kitchen. But unlike me, he is surprised by a room mate coming out of the kitchen. He says something like “Damn, you scared me. I didn’t know you were back tonight.” But the other guy was in an incredible bad mood and told him something in the line of “sod-off”. Then the scene fades and I continue down the hallway, back to the room.

Then I am falling asleep in the dream, when the room door opens and I jump up with fright. This time it is my boyfriend P. and I also wonder “I thought you were not coming back tonight!” - I thought I was already awake and he was real, because in RL he was actually not sleeping at home this night. Then I really woke up amidst some confusion.

      5:00 GMT

Messing up a palace with crumbles
I’m sitting in an armchair of a palace, eating breakfast cereals from the package and wondering what I’m doing there. Maybe it’s from some friend’s grandparents or something. I look around and think “Hmm, maybe I should explore this place a little bit.” Then a maid appears, looks surprised to see me there doing that – not the behaviour you’d expect of someone living in a palace. I feel embarrassed of the mess I made with crumbles on the chair. I say I’m sorry and promise to clean up later, but she refuses, after all that’s her job so she just moves me away to the side and cleans up the mess. Ok, ok. I get it. I pack my cereals and move on. I am decided to explore the palace but all sorts of distractions cross my path. For example, this lady close to the entrance door wants to know if I remember if she paid the entrance or something like that. I don’t know what she’s talking, but I say I don’t remember, so she gives me money to pay... whatever.

      Mirror portal
I am in front of the mirror above the sink in my bathroom. I realise I am dreaming and I sink my hand in the mirror. It was even more clear than usual. I decide instead of plunging there to take some liquid mirror with my hand and play with it. I drop it in the sink and try to solidify it there, but I don’t succeed, it stays liquid. Everything is getting dark and I feel I am loosing lucidity so I focus on the mirror that now transforms into a screen. For a moment I feel my face on my bed and realise I'm sleeping belly down, but manage to hold on the faint dream.
There’s only darkness around and this screen in the middle. On the screen there is a lady in uniform asking me where do I want to go. It looks like a flight company commercial or an interactive help post at an airport. I even laugh saying to myself the lady looks a flight attendant from Lufthansa (german company). I really don’t know where to go and while I think, all sorts of images of places but also just flashlights and patterns succeed on the screen at amazing speed but also amazing clarity. Then a map of the world appears and I am asked where I want to go. Stupidly the first idea that occurs to me is Germany (because of the Lufthansa connection) and I am sucked into the screen. But I can’t hold it steady and I wake up in my bed (or so it seems).

      False awakening
I open my eyes, I’m in my bedroom, it’s early morning. Some light already coming in. I look around feeling disappointed with the previous lucid experience. And then I realise my bedroom’s door is open. I always close it to sleep, or else the cat will bite my feet all night. I get up to close the door and check if the cat is inside or outside, but I find it all too strange. I mean, not the room, everything looks just like it should, but the door open when I am pretty sure I closed it last time I woke up and went to the toilet... I decide to reality check and I sink my hand on the wall. Great! I am still dreaming!

      Entering Nighthawk's dream
Still in my false bedroom I face the mirror on my wardrobe and decide to continue from there. I like using mirrors as portals, so I think again where I want to go in front of the mirror: from frivolous things to really important things I decide for the frivolous, mostly because I am still training so I have to take it easy. So I decide to go visit Nighthwak. I jump in the mirror, dwell in the voidness for a while and find myself in a lab. What went wrong? But then I see him there. He looks younger and I realise it must be one of his memories, from the university. He saw me eventually and he looked interested in exploring my presence in his dream. He signalled for me to wait a little while, but when he returned it wasn’t really him anymore and I sensed I had lost the connection and was just projecting. The lab was now an open air space, so I decided to move on, since this experience was no longer working.

Trying to escape a collapsing dream
I am walking around in this open air space that looks more and more like a park, with ponds, little bridges over canals, suspended gardens. I am thinking about where to go next and decide I must sit and do some meditation to go back on tracks – in terms of focusing on the really important things to do. But this dream here is kind of collapsing – maybe because it wasn’t mine? The bridges started moving and now end up in the middle of nowhere in the air, two gargoyles in stone detach from this stone balcony and attack me. I feel I need to get out really fast or I will wake up. No mirror around so I think about jumping in the water of the pond. But instead of mirror-like it is now murky, I see strange creatures swimming around, crocodile-like. I don’t feel so attracted to jump on it. Now the murky waters are rising and I’m losing ground. I climb to some brick wall and decide to jump from there to the floor and hope for the best.

      End of the adventure
It worked. As I fell on the grass, I sank and landed on some other dream. I was somewhere in the Middle East. Also in a garden. All was shining in warm colours, red and orange, really beautiful and in the end of this garden there was this beautiful and amazing mosque, also reddish. I was stunned with the scenario and thinking that I could sit there. That’s when I saw a group of angry men pointing at me, running in my direction. That’s when I realised I had landed over this kind of big stone or wall, which apparently was sacred for them, or the whole garden was and he fact I’m sitting up there it is extremely offensive to them. As they approach me and start bringing me down from where I was, I ask forgiveness but I am still smiling, commenting with them that their mosque is really something special. They think I’m crazy. Then I realize I have to jump again but they just don’t allow me to do that. I have men grabbing my arms, others grabbing my legs, I can’t move. Shit, I have to develop a method to jump without really jumping, just with thought. And I really need to build a place to go just sit, because dreams are crowded with monsters and armies and just plain distractions to get us away from our objectives.

    4. Gargoyle Bats

      by , 11-01-1986 at 05:01 PM
Night of November 1, 1986. Saturday. (This would be a day after Halloween. Keep that in mind.)

Even though this dream seems primarily impersonal and I seem to be disembodied for the most part in the majority of the scenes, there is a sense of eeriness throughout (but no direct physical threat at any point). It mostly involves a colony of bats that are somewhat anthropomorphic and of which that in turn suggests a link to gargoyles to some extent. They mostly seem to come from a hidden underground area in a fictional cemetery in La Crosse. This fictional cemetery is northwest of my sister’s house on Loomis Street. This location superimposed in reality would possibly seem to occupy the parking lot in what is now the Coulee Montessori Charter School and part of Roosevelt Park.

There is an idea at one point that the bat-like creatures “escaped” from an unknown realm that people perhaps accidentally disturbed with mining activities.

At one point, I watch more than a dozen of the creatures fly out from a west-facing mausoleum (which, through extensive research, is very similar to an Oakwood one in Troy, New York). My dream takes on that eerie stop-motion animation artificial feel very similar to the original “Jason and the Argonauts” from 1963, a movie I saw a few times as a boy and which influenced many of my dreams over time, specifically, in this case, the very similar harpies. The mausoleum is vaguely reminiscent of the White House, which is a bit curious (and perhaps relevant) I think, though the columns could be modeled after the harpies scene in the aforementioned movie.

Again, I am not attacked or threatened but it seems there are other (unknown) people that are attacked and possibly killed during a picnic though I do not witness the events that closely or much gore.

This is partially like a typical movie-like dream where scenes change (or “jump cut”) completely every several minutes, but still with the overall similar bats theme and still within a non-varying dream awareness for the most part.

However, in one “reset” (where the awareness slightly increases), it actually seems as if I am one of the creatures or at least “in league” with them (which makes sense, as I, the dreamer, am their creator after all). At one point I get a very vague impression they may be robotic, but this is unlikely and my brief distorted impression as such was probably only caused by the odd stop-motion movement. There is no vampire association at any point, though there is a vague “church” association or feeling at one point, yet mostly undefined and unresolved.

Most dreams with more detail involving normal bats (and importantly, I stress “normal” here) and additional but unrelated events to the main bat theme are long-term precognitive in nature even over many years (such as regarding my extensively documented and researched “Patches” recurring dream series). This clarifies how bats represent “messengers” from the “caves” of the supraconscious, often in a positive sense or personally good outlook (only incidentally because one does not ordinarily attribute birds to exploring and dwelling in caves or dark recesses of metaphorical mysteries). People who do not know any better might associate with bats solely in a negative sense, and this example in turn was probably influenced by popular media and the popular symbols of Halloween, unfortunately (or fortunately if you like meandering “monster dreams” which are not intense enough to be nightmares or with any feasible personal symbolism).
