    1. Computer Trouble

      by , 06-08-2010 at 09:29 PM
I download a browser from a link on a forum. It was IE 94 or something. I placed the laptop on something in my closet. I then realized it was a virus.
      --Later--
I complain on a bus until I wake up.

    2. Underwater Caves

      by , 06-08-2010 at 09:27 PM
I find myself at some sort of resort with a group of people that I have never seen before.
      --Later--
I jump off of a tower-like thing into a small pond, which leads into a cave filled with sunlight. Weird. I see a friend floating in front of me with his scuba mask drifting beside him.
      --Later again--
I'm back with the group. Apparently they're fighting over Gameboy games. I punch the games and wake up.

      That was just freaky.

    3. Legolas and Gandalf's bog adventure

by , 06-08-2010 at 07:52 PM (Visions in the Dark)
Dream starts off with Gandalf the White and Legolas from the Lord of the Rings trilogy making their way along a wooded boardwalk through a swampy forest. They are looking for a mystical talking animal which will help them on their quest but thy do not know what the animal looks like. Gandalf and Legolas occassionally come to clearings where they find very short people working the open bogland like they were tilling soil on a farm. One woman they meet asks them if they ever come across a girl child with orange hair. Gandalf and Legolas reply in the negative and the woman laments that she will never find her lost daughter.

Gandalf and Legolas continue deeper into the boglands and after passing through a particularily thick forest they come to a clearing were a large house sits upon a hill that overlooks the whole area. The door is locked and no one seems to be home so the two continue on their way. The boardwalks beyound the hill split into many directions and some loop back and rejoin the original path, leading absolutely nowhere and making finding one's way very confusing. Gandalf uses his magic to help find the right path and they eventually come to a barrow with a large stone entranceway.

Out of cave comes a mighty African elephant who greets them and says that he has been expecting them. Gandalf and Legolas are happy to have found the mystical creature which they travelled so far to find, and the elephant agrees to return with them to Gondor, but only on the condition that they do something for them when they get there. Despite it's large size the wooden boardwalk magically supports the elephant's weight and they travel out of the boglands with no problem.

Once in Gondor the elephant insists on travelling to an isolated village in the wild Northlands before he will lend his magic and wisdom to King Aragorn. Gandalf and Legolas take him to where he wants to go and the elephant leads them to a small home outside of a village called Wallakeya (or something like that) where they find a young woman with orange hair living by herself. The elephant says that this is the girl child that the bog farmer woman is looking for and that she should be returned home to her mother.

Gandalf explains to the young woman (who looks like my dream incarnate Kalima) the situation and then entrusts Legolas with the task of returning to girl home before reutning to Gondor with the elephant. Legolas and the young woman leave immediately and head towards the boglands, with Kalima riding on Legolas's white horse and him walking beside. They travel to where Gandalf and Legolas first met the bog farmer, but she is nowhere in sight. As they continue to travel they come across a man walking along the boardwalk who tells them that the farming season is over and that most of the residence of the bog have gone home and they can probably be found at the big house on the hill.

Legolas and Kalima continue on their way and somewhere along the way get another travelling companion, an unnamed woman dressed like a peasant, but somehow knows Kalima. The three travellers come to the big house on the hill and they are directed to the Chief's house deep in the forest, for it is his wife who was lamanting losing a child. Before they even get there Kalima starts questioning the claim that she is they child because everyone living in the boglands is short and stocky like dwarves while she herself is normal size. Legolas says that the magical elephant could not be wrong so they continue on their way.

They arrive at the Chief's house in the dead of night and Legolas is asked by Kalima to sleep outside because somehow she knows that the Chief is an extremely jealous man and will not permit another man to sleep in his home while women are there. In the morning the Chief greets Legolas but he is a gruff unfriendly man and offers no reward to the Elf Prince and demands that he leave right away. Legolas is uneasy but heads home anyway after say his goodbyes to Kalima and the other woman.

While the Chief's wife is happy to have her daughter back she is not allowed to show it because the Chief forbids displays of affection in his presence. There is a meeting happening at the big house on the hill and Kalima follows the Chief there and sees that he is a meanspirited cruel man as he threatens and bullies the bogland people into obediance, who visibly resent the Chief's treatment of them but cower in fear and say nothing.

The dream ends with Kalima storming out of the meeting house and contemplating running away.

    4. Floating Skateboard Tricks

      by , 06-08-2010 at 08:17 AM
      6/8/10
      Part 1:A False Awakening
I woke up to get some water, but apple juice came out of the faucet instead.

      Part 2:
I am riding a skateboard to my friend's house (I don't know how to skateboard, and in fact JUST learned how to ride a bike...) I was about to enter the park, and I saw 3 people, 1 male 2 female. One of the girls was very light skinned and holding a dog, and the other girl was dark skinned and holding a baby, and behind them was the man with a stroller. They were discussing something about adopting dogs and babies and slavery, How they were the same thing.
The guy behind them was like "hold up, that is not even close to being the same thing!"

At this point I continued down a path until i got to a set of stairs with very artistically placed bushes, and had a lot of white marble ledges and benches etc. I was riding the skateboard and Ollieing onto benches, but when I ollied i would glide and fly almost to the next point. It felt great and I kept doing that for a while until I got a text from my friend about being green and something about the earth.

I got a text from the friend who's house I was going to and got back onto a street. Off to the distance at a bus stop 2 people were talking about Regina Spektor's "Better"

I ignored that and looked down the street an all of a sudden it was about 10:46. Yes 10:46 i have no idea why it was that specific. But down the street it looked pretty shady and went down anyway (walking now) and saw a mob of guys in jerseys carrying a dude dressed like Vanilla Ice and they passed me and dropped him onto the ground and started beating him up and I walked into a sports shop. A man asked me for some pennies and I had a bunch of change in my pocket. The guy who was beaten up walked into the store, I asked him why he got beat up, and the owner if i could call a cab so I didn't have to take the train home. I noticed some porno type posters on the wall before the dream ended.

    5. Lucid Dream #3 and an Australian Skellefteå

      Lucid Part
Yes, I most definitely lucid dreamt last night. It was so hazy though :/
Kinda funny because I could only stay lucid whilst near my bed. Like, if I went to walk off it would stop being lucid. Because if I went to walk off, I wouldn't be able to see myself in the mirror and realise that I was lucid (yay dream logic!). But this sucked because I couldn't leave to try and go to Sweden, which I seem to always try to do xD
It wasn't too exciting, I just did floating around things and backflips and stuff.

I kept on slipping in and out of sleep paralysis (being awake). It was really hard to control.
      [...]
I took IE's advice and tried to feel how real breathing and stuff felt. It felt like the real thing.

      Non-lucid Part
I was buying cake donuts (wtf are "cake donuts"? xD) in Skellefteå lol on my way to see TW (!). There were lots of Australians at that shop and they were quite annoying :/ That cake looked so delicious though.
Music by Karnivool (a damn awesome Perth band) was playing in the background of the shop.
I was paying in Australian money, too. Wtf. I wanted four cakes and that would bring my total to $20.25. I gave the chick (who was also Australian) a $50 note (I gave this to her at the start, she wanted it first, and THEN i would buy the cakes) so then i gave her 10c so that she wouldn't have to get heaps of change. But for some reason she only gave me $10 change, as if $20 + $10 = $50.

Oh yeah, there was this weird cat trick thing. And it looked after your household if some criminal was going to rob it. It could detect loud music. The cat had to jump onto the windowsill but do a twist on the way (like gymnastics). Then it would grab the ledge and look through the window. Its eyes started glowing and it was scary. It detected loud music or something.
The cat was really cute and very well trained. It kept trying and trying to reach the windowsill, and I caught it when it missed. Eventually it grabbed it. Good cat :3 This part of the dream I associate with giants and other worldy houses for some reason. I also associate it with some map that helped detect the criminals.

    6. Starting Up Again

      by , 06-06-2010 at 06:08 PM
After what seems like 4 years of not having a DJ or attempting to become Lucid I started back up again.

First new Entry in the DJ:

      6/6/10
It takes place in my house. There was a Dog in the back porch for some reason, and my brother OT was dressed very similar to me, khaki cargo shorts and white t-shirts (we usually wear just black). And i remember something about big open field. I was told by my mother to carry down a bag of charcoal. Then there was this playground with monkey bars and towers and this girl was with the dog, and she was doing odd stuff with it (not totally sure) and so we made the dog run away and I was chasing after it. then the dog ran away and we were walking back through a hallway and everyone was really sad and as I was walking back I was handed receipts from my dad's restaurant.

    7. Mr. Bean’s Teddy Bear

      by , 06-06-2010 at 12:06 PM
Morning of June 6, 2010. Sunday.

      Dream #: 15,875-07. Reading time: 20 sec.

I am in the lounge room of our present home in the evening. I am aware a stranger is in our house and had been in our kitchen and opened our refrigerator. When I am in bed, I notice Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) had fallen asleep on our couch, holding a teddy bear. I am annoyed by the imposition. (The couch is in the wrong orientation. It faces south instead of north.) I consider it may be someone pretending to be Mr. Bean (though I remain uncertain).

    9. Squirrel Garden (24 August 2004)

by , 06-05-2010 at 12:42 AM (Way of the Lizard)
So I just had this long, strange dream. I was on some kind of Jane Leakey style mission to live amongst the animals in some kind of nature preserve (oddly enough, I think it was in Iraq, though the place itself had no connection to Iraq). There was lots of beautiful scenery with water running over colorful rocks and greenery spread around here and there. The thing is, though, the animals had developed this really involved culture within this nature preserve. The one thing I remember really clearly is this elaborate garden being built and maintained by squirrels, at squirrel-scale. None of them talked or anything, they were just engaged in this really complex group activity, like little squirrel-monks or something. The whole dream was really beautiful, while at the same time there was this sense that the place was endangered and I might be the last one to see it.
    10. Slew of dreams (1 August 2004)

by , 06-05-2010 at 12:40 AM (Way of the Lizard)
      New LD!

It started as an anxiety dream at work, with people piling up in the restaurant and nothing ready. Then I realized it was a dream (this kind of anxiety is a dream sign for me). A DC of a guy I knew in college walked in, and I spent much of the rest of the dream telling him this was a dream. I did use a technique from the boards: at one point I insisted so excitedly that I was dreaming, I almost woke up, so I closed my eyes, spun around, and thought "Higher level lucidity," and when I opened my eyes, everything was more vivid and solid.

I also had a dream that I was sitting at a coffee shop having a live discussion of last night's "Nature of perception" thread

I had another weird, dark, plotted-out dream, where I was a young guy who had just bought a house. It was a quiet suburban neighborhood full of plastic-looking landscaping and identical houses, but the neighbors would babble nonsense and shoot at each other with shot-guns. Another neighbor just filmed everything with a big movie camera. I was outside snooping around, and the former owner of my house appears, ends up stabbing me in the shoulder with this huge knife, and him and the camera guy take me back to the house, where they keep me as a hostage/slave for the rest of the dream.

I also had a dream set in my hometown at some indeterminate time, maybe seven years ago. I ran into this girl I haven't thought of in ages. She's probably in pretty bad shape in waking life...last I knew she had a degenerative disease that required the periodic removal of chunks of her intestines.

(Update: thanks to Facebook, I now know this chick lives an awesome life driving race cars and jumping out of planes in Colorado )

    11. Cannibis Cat (26 July 2004)

by , 06-05-2010 at 12:32 AM (Way of the Lizard)
      Just 1 last night:

I was hanging out with my sister and my mom's ex was there. I remember at one point he was passing a bowl in the other room, and the cat carried it into the room where sis' and I were talking, and tapped it out neatly in the ashtray. My sister and I laughed. "Now if we could just teach him to pack it," one of us joked.

A lot of herb in the dreamworld lately...this usually happens when I quit smoking in waking life.

    12. Larry (26 July 2004)

by , 06-05-2010 at 12:23 AM (Way of the Lizard)
Oh, I forgot this dream from yesterday:

My bedroom window is right by my neighbors' backyard. Their autistic son, Larry, must have been out there shouting nonsense (as is his habit) while I was sleeping the afternoon away, cuz I had a couple FAs where I looked at the window and he had climbed up my building and was trying to get in the window. It was kind of funny when I remembered later.

    13. Long, involved series of dreams, including one LD (25 July 2004)

by , 06-05-2010 at 12:21 AM (Way of the Lizard)
      1. This one was long and detailed, covering several days of dream-time, with some on-the-ground action, some movie-screen views of other characters, and even some back-story. It all took place in the little town in PA where I grew up. It started with the story of Altrip Jones, a man from my town who went out and made a fortune in the city, then came back and built this weird monument of a public building, with huge, white marble gargoyles jutting from the corners. It was some kind of culture/community center. So I saw this as if in a documentary, then I was back in my hometown, but a weirdly prosperous version where this guy had infused all this money into it.

      2. I'm attending a funeral in my hometown, and it's a big family gathering, but it's a dream family, not my real family, and pretty much a dream-town, too. Mostly I'm interacting with two little brothers who have never met me before, because I've been away that long, and I"m working to protect my little uncle (real person) from professional assassins, including a 40-something Gene Hackman. These guys really like to rapel down buildings. I'm not resisting them violently, just tracking their movements and evading them.

      3. At some point, I'm taking a walk with some dude I don't know, and he lights up a j. We turn a corner and here we are at a big, sandy beach (nothing like this in my real town). We pass it around and a few people join us, then security comes sniffing around, so I have to evade them and end up alone way down the beach. I start running back toward the crowd (now leaving--it's night-time, and they're closing down the beach), then realize it would be much faster to glide over the sand, then think "Well, why don't I just fly?" So I'm flying down the beach, and I stop and think, "Wait a sec, am I dreaming?" The dunes and everything look pretty real, but I do an RC (my first ever deliberate RC--thanks DV), which for me is kind of a karma-probe to see if objects around me have history and depth--dream objects are more transparent, have less presence than waking objects, even if visually identical. So anyway, I'm lucid, but everything stays pretty solid. I walk around and come to a pliant barrier where the beach just stops, but recalling some stuff from the forums, I try to dissolve or push through, and manage to get my hands through, like pushing through saran wrap. I didn't get to do much else before I woke up. Still, that's two LDs in a 10 days, after many months without any. Whoop!
    14. Not quite lucid (23 July 2004)

by , 06-05-2010 at 12:14 AM (Way of the Lizard)
This was also last week. There was stuff leading up to it that I don't remember, but...I was on a freeway curving out over a large, still body of water with some trees growing out of it and lots of greenery along the banks. I didn't have a car, but was just gliding along the road at very high speed (a common dream sign for me). I was going so fast I flew off the road and was heading for the water, and for a second I flashed back to a childhood falling-off-a-bridge-and-drowning dream, and got scared, but then I thought "this whole situation seems familiar, I'll bet I can get out of this." So I slowed my fall, and looked around for a place to land. There was a stump sticking out of the water, and I aimed for it but missed, and I was still losing altitude, so now my legs were dragging in the water. I made another pass, and now there was a statue growing out of the stump, like maybe a statue of a saint in robes with one hand stretched out, and I missed again but saw a tree closer by, and got to that (waist deep in water) and climbed up out.

So, I figured out I was in a world where I could slow down and control a fall, but didn't figure out it was a dream world.
    15. Horror (23 July 2004)

by , 06-05-2010 at 12:11 AM (Way of the Lizard)
Nightmare (1st vivid dream after I joined this forum)

This was last week, and I didn't dwell on it, so my recall is so-so. My nephew (he's 3) was kidnapped, and I was communicating with the kidnapper through this guy at a pharmacy-window. Dude let me know that my nephew was being held with a bunch of other kids by a pedophile ring with one guy in charge. Somehow, I managed to find the guy, and turned him over to the cops. I was feeling all frantic, like "How bad was this for my nephew, how are we all going to deal with this?" Then I was with my sister, and when I ask how my nephew is, she very calmly tells me that on the way back from the pedophile place he crawled out the car-window, and she tried to hold onto him, but he flew off and died. My sister was really calm, but I totally broke down, reviewing the situation and thinking maybe I should have killed the pedophile-guy when I had him, but that wouldn't have helped anything, and OMG my nephew's dead, his life got so bad that he killed himself at age 3...etc.

I woke up just numb, and it took a minute to realize that this world where my nephew was dead was not the world I was now in, and I wasn't even relieved, just numb. This is how nightmares are for me on those rare occasions I have them: here, have some intense emotional trauma, no wait, ha ha, it was just a dream.
