    1. 12/18/2021 - Journey to Synthos

      by , 12-18-2021 at 07:36 PM
This was the first night since Wednesday that I wasn't up working all night. I had some sleep during the day and about 2 hours or so Friday morning, but this was my first full night's sleep. Actually, I slept on and off from about 3:00 yesterday afternoon until almost noon today.

I have also been doing dream journaling offline. I might just put more interesting dreams and lucids here.

Synthos is a city that I invented some years ago, with an intention of visiting it in my dreams. It has a somewhat cyberpunk atmosphere. A river separates two halves - the buildings of the one half are predominantly white, and this section of the city tends to be safe. I suppose that this is more the "good dreams" section of the city. Across the river the colors are darker, and the atmosphere is much more nightmarish.

      Synthos at Last!

I am doing something, and decide to do a nose pinch RC. I can breathe and conclude that I must be dreaming. I jump into the air, willing myself to levitate but also flapping my arms as though they were wings. This seems to help me fly, and I rise into the air. I look around at the scenery below me, and decide that I will try to go to Synthos (I have tried in the past but I don't think I have succeeded). I look around at the landscape and try to imagine the city, and then I start describing the buildings to myself and wait for things to change. In a moment or two, large buildings begin to appear in the landscape. They aren't quite the gleaming whiteness of how I imagined Synthos or as close together as an urban area, but it's a step in the right direction. This might be the outskirts anyway. I keep concentrating on the description of Synthos, and more and more large buildings appear. I am now flying above a decently sized town, and the buildings seem to be getting larger all the time. I glide in closer to a section of town. The buildings are still of a browner, brick-colored appearance, but my goal was Synthos so it seems likely that this is a part of that city. I can see some writing on one of the buildings (I might have been able to read a word or two, but I don't remember what it was.

Continuing to fly, I come across some water. This is like a large river, but it isn't running between two halves of the city at this point. I might be in a different section of town yet, though. The city is to my right, along the coast of what seems like an ocean now. I fly along and find a place between two tall buildings that looks fun to explore. There is a city street here, with buildings towering on either side (more stereotypically Synthos-ish now, though still not completely white). I land.

I'm looking at a wall, which has some kind of ornamentation on it. It appears to be miniature carvings of heads (presidents, I think?). I begin to worry about losing the dream, so I touch these carvings to try to anchor myself. I notice how they feel, and then I lick them (which sometimes helps to stabilize things). I walk to my right, and I think I turn a corner. But I think I'm losing the dream at this point...

Here I might have gone into the Void and tried to extract myself using the acceleration technique I have heard about. I don't quite recall what happened. I remember at some point that I thought I could move my waking body, and figured I must have lost the dream. But I also remember having another lucid dream, and it's possible that this led into it.

      Through the ceiling
I'm in my room, I think. Somehow I become lucid. I rise into the air to fly. I go up to the ceiling, and decide to push through it. I have had trouble with this kind of thing before, but this time I strain against it and put a lot of strength into it. The ceiling gives way (I think I just rip it off entirely, instead of passing through it) and I'm outside. I remember seeing the gutters on the side of the house...

    2. The Curious Case of Jotaro Kujo (was that Alicia Silverstone in the dorm scene?)

      by , 01-05-2011 at 02:48 PM (Journal #86)
1/4/11: Sometimes I don't even understand why I get dreams like this: one where you're running around in circles and running into random people that seem very attractive--and the setting is in a big building. Recently I've been having dreams where there's been some sort of hybrid when it comes to these big buildings: Some are colleges mixed with apartments, while some are independent high schools--next to apartments.

In one scene, I'm in a dorm inside the body of someone who thinks there has been a failure/cheating. The roommate's had enough of his/her conspiracies.

"You've got 30 seconds to explain to me what you're talking about." she replies. She looks a lot like Hollywood actress Alicia Silverstone in the face, only younger. I haven't seen ANYTHING movie-wise starring Alicia Silverstone in over 15 years, and I'm 24 now.

After this, the "running around in circles" thing continued as a different character, running into random people and offices, even accidentally sitting on what appears to be a conveyor belt. I land on the ground, luckily, and on my own two feet.

I'm guessing this part of the dream came when I thought about doing some JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fanfiction starring a character who has a Stand similar to series main character Jotaro Kujo, Star Platinum, and this was likely everything he (the fanfic character I created) saw, along with the college scene belonging to a character from another work of mine, Tracy Weston.

A Stand, as many people who are fans of the JJBA comic book series know, is basically a supernatural power. Out of all the "bizarre" dreams I've had, I'd have to say this is one of the top ten, though I don't really see what big buildings have to do with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. One of my goals in life is to be an author, and I think this dream might have been what I needed to get going. I'm new to this JJBA thing, so I guess I'd better read more in order to understand what's going on in each of the arcs.
    3. Around Town (and french fries, again!)

by , 11-30-2010 at 05:13 PM (The Labrynth of the Mind)
I'm a little pressed for time today, so I will just make some quick notes and hopefully edit with more details later.

      Sideswiped

Driving around a construction zone. An area where there's only one lane, no flagger. I enter and a RV enters at the same time. The RV scrapes against my new truck and keeps on going. I get out and try to find the guy. I think about suing the Department of Transportation.

      Around Town

With my Grandfather at a country music concert. He stays only for 3 songs, then leaves. He is annoyed because it is at a university that is in the middle of a town (it didn't make sense to me in my dream, either). I argue a little bit about the immorality of having a university in the middle of a town, but he leaves anyway.

My Grandmother shows up in her car, so I don't have to walk home. We stop at intersection, girl has broken down.

A brass band is playing, and a new building is being built. I lobby to save the old building from destruction. They aren't going to destroy it anyway.

There are some pirates in a torture chamber held captive by a rival pirate captain. The rival captain is trying to force them to accept him as their new leader. There are lots of people watching from stands. It is like a stadium of some kind. Now it isn't a torture chamber anymore, but a dance floor. We are watching a documentary about how the Japanese are saving energy by a new form of dancing. One person from each couple sits in a chair and only one person stands up and dances. They still hold hands, though.

      Big House

I visit somebody's house. It looks small from the outside, but it huge on the inside. One room looks like a cafe` of some kind. Or a hotel lobby. I go in and order food. The people with me are impatient because I'm taking too long. Someone is overcharged. I order a jalepeno and pickle sandwich. And french fries (I seem to be having recurring dreams about french fries).
    4. My old College

by , 11-22-2010 at 04:59 AM (The Labrynth of the Mind)
I am back at a community college that I went to at one time. I have a lot of happy memories here, and often dream of it. I am walking down the hallway to a class I am taking, and realize that I have not explored much of the college since I went back. This is the last night of this semester for me, and I think I should take a walk to the other end of the hall.

While I am still on my way to class (I never do make it to the other end of the hallway) I meet some people I used to know. I had been worrying lately about losing interest in some places like this that are important to me, but while I am talking to them I realize that I am in a wonderful place. Then I have to go to class.

I sit down at my desk, and look out the window. There is a tall brick smokestack just out the window in this dream, and I "remember" looking at it when I used to go to school here. As I look at it the smokestack changes in height and width, and I think even collapses at one point. I just watch passively, and it has no effect on me.

The instructor is wrapping up the class, and we are supposed to clean out our desks before we leave. In our desks are computers, which are small things that plug into some kind of printer device. Everyone else in the class has an easy time plugging these things together and leaving. Mine does not seem to fit together though.
