    1. A couple dreams, a lot of insomnia

      by , 04-29-2018 at 10:13 PM
I got to sleep OK around 8. And slept until maybe 1 or 2.

      Yams

My first dreams I remembered were of being at a big round table with my family. I was handing out sweet potatoes. They turned out to be soft but at first I thought they were under cooked.

      Out Somnia

I had insomnia again and it was from after my first sleep cycle until IDK when. I gave up after an earnest try, and got up. I don't know what comes first. My workaholism or my insomnia.

      Loft

Eventually I went back to sleep. Around 6 I guess. I felt myself drop in.

I don't remember much of the dream but I was in a loft. Something happened. Then there was someone like Goku. they expanded into a big illustration.

That made me lucid for a moment. I realized I was in a dream but didn't know what to do.

      Springy False Awakening

I had a false awakening of waking up in a bed. But the bed had springs on it. I figured the dream had startled me into waking with a jolt. And that made my bed keep swinging back and forth.

The springs creaked. I kept trying to tell myself they would eventually slow down. But it seemed like my swinging gained momentum, and the creaking got louder. First it was right to left, then from head of bed to foot of bed. And squeaky squeak squeak.

I was thinking I need to record this dream in my voice recorder. Which I had put away since the sun was already up. (If I dreamed I planned on just getting up to write it. But I forgot that during this false awakening.) I wanted the bed to stop swinging and creaking, otherwise that sound would get recorded, too. So I tried to think about the dream while waiting for the bed to stop.

Then I grabbed onto this black metal bar of the bed to stop it but the force was too much. It felt like it would rip my arms off.

      Missing Table

In waking life there is a table to the side of my bed. I got up from my bed to stand, and try to stop my bed swinging from the outside. I realized it wasn't there. My chair near it was though. "Oh well," thought I. "Maybe I moved it before sleeping."

      Actually woke up

I appeared in my physical bed kind of surprised about all that having been a dream! It took me a moment to be like, oh, wait, my beds not shaking.

It would have been a great dream to become lucid in. However, I might have just gotten excited and returned to my body, if I became lucid. I'm surprised I didn't find lucidity over the bed swinging like that. I kept telling myself it must be possible and thinking of how my bed was built.

    2. Select Your Symbolism

by , 04-29-2018 at 07:40 PM (The Fourth Factor)
I’m walking through an unfamiliar urban area. It’s fairly busy traffic-wise, but there are some young men kicking a soccer ball around in the streets. Occasionally, someone has to run out into the street and bring it back before a car gets to it. This strikes me as a little dangerous.

Eventually, I find myself walking down into a large lecture hall, mainly white with light-colored wooden seats on either side of a central aisle. There’s a projection screen down in front, and everybody is watching a movie on it. The front area looks mostly full, but there are entire rows of empty seats closer to the back, so I sit down in a row on the left side.

It seems I have the option to select how I want the movie rendered—it’s a little like a menu popping up on a computer, but more abstract. There are three options. In the first option, I would only perceive those aspects of it that are capable of being represented in the available medium. In the second option, the basic narrative pattern of the story would be preserved, but with the unrepresentable parts of it translated into a form that the medium can handle. That's the option I choose. I can’t remember what the third one was.

As I watch, it quickly becomes apparent that the movie is something provisional rather than a finished creation. The screen shows static pictures representing the characters on a white background as their dialogue is spoken. I notice, however, that the acoustics in this room are incredible. It’s a high-ceilinged room, and the sound just fills it. I can feel a shift in my awareness, as it it’s expanding to fill the room as well.

    3. Unclear With Some Disappointment

      by , 04-29-2018 at 07:34 PM
My dreams were consumed by another theme so much so that the palace just wasn't happening.

      Chance, Gamble, Shuffle

I was in a golden box with a red carpet inside floating in the middle of the ocean. Invader Zim was present and talking to another character about how the situation presented was turning out to be ridiculous. I agreed with him but I wasn't just going to sit and mope. I climbed out and the scene began to form a ground. When I walked on it, I ended up in a purple dingy room that was decorated for a Halloween party.

I could hear Teen Titans Go in the BG and thought that while the kids watched it, I would go ahead and eat some of the snacks. I went up to a old dusty reddish chimney where a black rectangular tray had some pieces left of a skeleton candy. But just as I picked up a small piece the wall and chimney began to shake. "He's coming everyone! Hide!". I saw a boy run under the small square table in the middle of the room. I didn't want to go far or somewhere obvious/cornered so I hid behind the near small blue sofa that had a black gaping hole behind it.

As I crouched behind the sofa I saw a blurry spirit in the form of a man with a top hat come in. He slowly walked around the small table in the middle. It felt like he was looking down. Seeing through the sofa, I stepped carefully mimicking his movement so I can go around the sofa and keep out of his view. When he chose the person that was out of game and in his view, everyone in the party jumped up and ran in a line close to each other. I stood in between two guys and the one in front of me was wearing a waiter outfit. He had silver glittery cards in hand and began to shuffle the deck as soon as the spirit ordered him to begin. He didn't speak through words but we understood through feeling.
I watched as the guy shuffled the cards. There were four that seemed like they could turn around the game.

      Moral Support

I was laying on my bed when suddenly a guy approached me.He took my hand and put his other hand towards me, saying he would heal me. I felt others present around my now illuminated room and than gently pushed his hand away telling him I didn't need to be healed. He than asked me what was it that I really wanted than. I said I just wanted to understand why things were the way they are.

After that I turned and looked at the other characters. They seemed like angels but I mentioned that they weren't. They agreed that they weren't and began to laugh together at my comment.

The dream than shifted and i was now in a sandy large circular area where large arches had bars in front of them like jail cells. I could hear noises coming from it and felt like it symbolized restraint for wrong doing.

After that the place changed again and I was in a room with what was supposed to be an evil person. My mom dc was present as well. While she was cooking the person made a small fire appear that burned my mom than summoned a larger fire. I blew out the fire and asked him why he was doing that. He said because he didn't care. I asked him why, is it because he lost someone he cared about and now no one else matters. He said yeah, kind of hesitating. I smiled feeling like we made a break through but this made him uneasy that he climbed out a window. The guy from the start than came back and told me that we would continue tomorrow.

After that the dream shifted and the guy from the start of the dream came out again and brought me to a light blue hall where the others from the start were grouped together.(For a moment u wondered if it was tomorrow yet...^^")I was asked to try and help them in a short amount of time.As they began to walk around doing their own thing I walked up to each one telling them things they could do to better their situation and change their perspective to a more positive one. But even if it looked like it helped some slightly they all came together and began to laugh without facing me.

I asked why they were laughing and why couldn't they just understand. It than got to the point when I wanted to smack one in the head but I stopped myself because it was not right. Instead I sighed and just watched them laugh. "Their obviously doing it to annoy me".The guy from the start than came back and asked me if I understood why things were the way they were now. I said yeah and understood that there were many opportunities for change but they didn't want to for some reason. He than brought me to a table with a yellow creature in btw us and showed me a metal with drawings on it that he drew. He said that I did a good job in changing some slightly or making them think even though I failed to make them leave the side they were on.

      Final fantasy

I was trying to lend someone a pen but they were upset with me and didn't want to take it.

After that I ended up in a facility where I zoomed up btw some escalators. I passed a repetitive dc than heard a dc singing a lovely song in an unknown language. "I wish I could make music like that" I thought than sat down to listen.

The dream than shifted and I was in a room with green colored walls. There was a girl present who asked me what music I like. I said I like metal or rock but I do enjoy pop as well. She than put some rock music on and I left to find my younger cousin. She was in her room doing her best to ignore me with a poofy black short vest on. "Why is she wearing that?" I thought. I than flipped over a group of games in a basket where a final fantasy game was. This annoyed her so she flipped it back. Curious if she would do it again I did it again and the result was the same.

Notes: Perhaps to get to the palace I need to try meditating on it so I can clear my mind and have more of a chance of it becoming a theme in my dream. Next week I know its going to be another place but I still want to see if I can get myself there. On the bright side I did get fully lucid but i got distracted and wanted to see the end result.

    4. Day 77, 78, and 79: King of Swing

by , 04-29-2018 at 06:16 PM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
Nothing to report on 77 and 78.

      Day 79:

      Fell asleep at: 12:00 AM

      Woke up at: 9:00 AM

Dream 86: King of Cling AND Swing

I was in the front yard of my house. I had fashioned a sort of rope vine by twirling dead vines from the trees in front of my house. It was attached, anchored to the tree.

I tried to get myself off the ground. I managed to swing upwards, feeling the air through my hair, adrenaline rushing to my head.

Nothing much else happened after that.

    5. Timely Grapes

      by , 04-29-2018 at 05:37 PM
Morning of April 29, 2018. Sunday.

There are puzzling (impersonal) scenes of an unfamiliar golf course, which is a very rare dream setting for me. There is an unusual dragon, more like a traditional sea serpent in some ways, but quite unrealistic and never a threatening presence - almost cartoonish or of bad CGI. Corporeally, I find myself in an area where grapes are growing from vines within tree branches. I eventually find a pocket watch hanging by a chain from a low branch. An unfamiliar red-haired female of about thirty manifests as this dream’s preconscious, looking at me, possibly wondering what I am doing. I think I might take the watch as I think it might be mine, but I decide to leave it.

I had no idea we would be watching a movie this evening featuring an unrealistic sea serpent and a scene where two men were digging in a golf course. This was “Nessie & Me” (2017) that our youngest daughter really wanted to watch tonight (and it was from the library; I did not even know about it). Seeing scenes from movies in dreams before actually seeing them seems a rather trivial and pointless mechanism (in contrast to me marrying my literal dream girl), but this has occurred all my life. It happens so often, I usually just roll my eyes at this stage of my life. It is probably more about the transpersonal interconsciousness rendering some dream content (rather than true prescience), as the movie technically often already exists (though not in every case like this) which I usually see on the same day after my dream. Zsuzsanna had not seen the movie, so the golf course scene did not come from her as far as I know.

    6. Gyeongbokgung palace 2

      by , 04-29-2018 at 02:30 PM
This dream memory is very vague and non lucid.

I remember standing by the entrance to the palace in the same hanbok as last time (maybe this could become a way for others to recognize me? ). I had somehow got myself to the palace for the shared dreaming experiment without having a lucid dream. At some point someone came up to me and asked "What are you doing?"

"Waiting on a friend", I told her or him.

We talked longer but I don't remember the words.

    7. Snakes on Walls

      by , 04-29-2018 at 08:29 AM
Morning of April 29, 2018. Sunday.

I am in a large featureless distortion of the Loomis Street house’s porch (about twice as big as it is in reality). My brother-in-law Bob is present. Curiously, I am also vaguely aware of my youngest son. (This is a typical distortion of random threads, as my son being present is the only thread relevant to my current conscious self identity.)

Eventually, I see (and subliminally will by way of RAS modulation anticipation) a snake crawling on the wall (in the manner of if it was actually the floor). I cannot be sure if it is venomous but Bob comes in to distract it.

However, three green snakes end up being present, one that Bob is battling near the center of the porch, one near Oliver (though not perceived as a threat) to the right, and one near me. I seem to be standing on the right arm of the armchair yet also standing on the floor. It is an unusual sense of bilocation. I move my legs around in order to deter the snake, still wondering if it might be venomous, but there is no dominating sense of threat or any actual fear (probably because I know it is the RAS modulation factor as the waking alert).

This dream type is a form of vestibular system correlation, which occurs in countless unique forms but basically always means the same thing, that I am trying to discern the nature of my real physical body in growing closer to conscious self awareness. This is not the first time that snakes have occurred in correlation with this process, which is why they are on the wall rather than the floor at first.

I have not seen Bob since 1994 and have no idea of his present status. My son’s appearance in this case relates to a concern about his health, though it is not a major issue. Snakes sometimes relate to autosymbolism regarding the human intestine, especially in indigestion. Autosymbolism is often based on visual associations (such as a snake being associated with the human intestine), not words (as language skills are not even present in most levels of REM sleep).

As always, a porch is my most common liminal space autosymbolism since childhood, which indicates a specific level of unconsciousness between sleeping and waking and is unrelated to waking life (other than a porch representing liminal space in waking life as well, and you will find much dream autosymbolism is not very difficult to understand when eliminating the “interpretation” fallacy).

    8. Charlie Brown’s World

      by , 04-29-2018 at 07:12 AM
Morning of April 29, 2018. Sunday.

In my surreal dream sequence, there is eventually a focus on the “Peanuts” comic strip. It is supposedly an anniversary of when the first strip was published. (This is incorrect, as in reality, October 2, 1950 is when the dailies started and it was January 6, 1952 for the Sunday strip.)

The detail eventually stabilizes on a stage that seems to be for a television show being broadcast live. The announcer says “Charlie Brown” vividly and clearly and extends his hand to the right, upturned for introduction. The “real” Charlie Brown walks out on stage and the audience looks on. It is a real man, but he is very old and has oversized ears, which are probably fake. He actually has the essence of a very old Charlie Brown in appearance (which is unusual as the comic strip character has hardly any facial detail, yet my dream includes a very precise essence somehow), but I consider it is mostly makeup to play the role.

There is a shift and the same scene repeats. After this, a similar scene occurs, though this time it is a very old and “real” Sally Brown sitting in a chair. The audience looks at her as she is interviewed. In the last scene, which is supposedly part of a movie that is showing a new “Peanuts” event, two anthropomorphic rats are standing near the back door of a building. Apparently, they are being married, though I see no other characters present at this time. The rat is named Roquefort, though in reality has nothing to do with Charlie Brown’s world (as far as I know). Roquefort eventually says how he is “impotent”. The female rat (I do not recall any name) says, “We’re British. We do not use that word.”

From here, there are detailed closeups of one of each rat’s ears (the right for the male and the left for the female). I see that while the male’s lobe is connected to his head, the female rat’s lobe is slightly raised, with a J-shaped groove. This seems to mean that Roquefort might change his mind about the wedding, but it is the girl rat that turns and walks off.

In hypnopompic disclosure (the preconscious and emergent consciousness correlation where the clear meaning of my dream surfaces), I realize the whole dream was triggered by the vestibular system correlation of the waking process, the stage being autosymbolism for “watching” the dream state (as well as a play on the “stage” of sleep). The rest was surreal nonsense of which I cannot even correlate with a media influence.

Many of my dreams have autosymbolism for vestibular system correlation as the waking factor (in fact, an average of more than one dream per sleep cycle for over fifty years includes this biological process), though typically related to flight. (Vestibular system correlation is a common dream factor as the dream self cannot viably perceive the conscious self’s physical form in REM sleep.) It has astounded me since childhood that the same processes repeatedly being rendered are completely ignored in favor of “interpretation” simply because of their uniqueness each time. Perhaps in a thousand years, more people will begin to see what dreams actually are. Still, from the evidence I see in society, including most people that pretend to understand or “interpret” dreams, I very much doubt it.

Dreams, especially the preconscious transition, are not actually supposed to relate to waking life as they are meant to be a release of the conscious self identity (unless literally prescient or when overwhelming stress is literally borrowed by RAS modulation, the former being quite common for me, the latter very rare, and neither of those two factors requiring “interpretation" due to being literal), for the reason of contrast in the emergent consciousness activation, and they do not come from the unconscious or subconscious either. For example, the male talking rat using "impotent” (after a satisfying lovemaking session prior to sleep) and the female rat replying with “We’re British”. This is the opposite of anything in my waking life. (I do not even know anyone who is British or English in waking life, that is, where I actually live.)

    9. The Missing Children Festival [Series of dreams]

by , 04-29-2018 at 06:02 AM (Nonsense and Conundrums)
[This is a series of dreams that occured over three nights, from June 13 to June 15 in 2017.]

      [June 13]

I am at a festival sort of place, where there are dirt paths and stalls selling things. There are many events going on. One "show" has recently been cancelled, something about the building being unsafe.

There is something amiss at this festival; children are going missing. I am trying to gather all the children without families (which is most of them) and take them to a cave, a designated "safe place". The cave seems to have a magical barrier to keep negativity out. At one point I find a little blonde girl and try to coax her into coming with me, but she disappears when I turn around and look back.

      [June 14]

Continuing from last night, I am at the same festival, but my girlfriend is kind-of there (it's weird, she was blurry, like she was phased in from somewhere else] and a frantic young man is following me. He is shorter than me - natural, as I am my alternate self which is rather tall - and has curly brown hair and black-rimmed glasses. He is trying to tell me something, something about a bad thing going to happen. I listen to him casually while walking until a loud rumbling begins. The grond shakes, and people start running and screaming. The guy tries to say something along the lines of "I told you!" but I shoo him off and forge my own way. I am surprisingly calm for someone who thinks this is all real, slowly moving through the crowd and keeping an eye on the sky; the sky is beautiful, a prismatic shatter of color that slowly turns black.

I make my way out of the festival and to a nearby farm house. There are many people inside that aren't too happy about me intruding in on their space, but I ignore it. An old man, presumably the keeper of the house, tries to trap me in an upstairs room. I easily resist his attempts and look for something I'm apparently looking for. I eventually find it: a trap door that leads to a huge underground factory. It is big enough for me to transform into my royal form, wings spread and all. I try to fly but find it difficult, and the dream fades.

      [June 15]

I make it out of the factory and am somehow back at a different sort of festival, an indoor one. I end up at something that is drawing a crowd, some famous performer doing something I cannot remember. I watch until two officers come up to me with handcuffs and tell me to come with them. I get the feeling I should listen, so I comply without protest.

On the way to their vehicle, cuffed and all, I feel a man press a key into my palm and whisper to hold onto it. I stuff it on the side of my panties, where they hopefully won't search. We drive to the holding station, where I sit on a bench and the officers explain the "situation" to someone else. Somehow, my cuffs loosen, and I sneak away.

I go through a few doors and am suddenly in an underground mountainous area, airy and full of light yet so artificial. As I walk through here, a voice begins speaking to me: the man from earlier. He tell me where to go and I eventually am led to a door with a key slot. I still have the key he gave me, and it fits perfectly. Thing is, it only opens to more scenery. The voice tells me to be patient. I trust him and keep going; a little hiking and a weird cougar later, I stop at the mouth of a waterfall. The voice tells me to go through the waterfall. A strange blue creature comes forth from the falls, beckoning me in. I obey, going through.

Things are strange on the other side. So much so, that my first reaction is to turn back around...but then walk back in. The place has many vivid colors and strange creatures, plants, and such glowing, odd scenery in general (think Wonderland, really). A pink creature greets me, and then I wake up.
