    1. Strange Things are Afoot

      by , 01-20-2011 at 10:56 AM
I had two very mysterious dreams last night, it seemed dj worthy. Here's the first:

I wake up laying on my back. I rub my eyes and open them. My mouth is really dry and the sun is beating on my face. I get up and look around. I'm in the middle of the desert?! Its no ordinary desert though. I was completely surrounded by miles and miles of red sand. Completely confused but non-lucid I start walking. I walk for about 15 minutes feeling hopeless, but then I spot something buried in a sand dune. I run up to it and dig it out. It's a metal box with a handle on the top of it and something like a latch on the side. I try as hard as I can to open it but it doesn't budge. I enter a new dream.

In this dream I'm staring at a mirror, my reflection is warped. I look all around me and the ceiling, floor, and walls are all mirrors. All of them have a warped reflection of me, but not as if the mirror is warped but as if that body is deformed in some way. I become lucid but it fades.

    2. Tsunami + Interesting Trend

      by , 01-20-2011 at 10:25 AM (Dreamography)
      20 Jan 2011

I find myself water-skiing in the bay [I've never actually been water-skiing before or even considered it]. Then, in the distance, a strange wave appears. It's not very large, but kind of frothy and sinister looking. In any case, the boat heads back to shore as a precaution and I join my friends and relatives on the beach. The wave itself arrives shortly thereafter and dissolves harmlessly on the sand.

Someone then points to the horizon, where a truly massive wave appears to be forming. Panic ensues (among those who I'm with), triggering me to recognize it as a 'fear-based scenario'. I do not become fully lucid, however, and remain within the narrative of the dream. Still, a part of me knows that I have 'other options' and I eventually choose to cross my legs and levitate (realising that I can simply float above any incoming water). The people look at me with scorn, however, as if to say, "Well, we can't do that!"

As everyone scatters below me, I continue to float upwards and 'bounce' from rooftop to rooftop, looking for a good vantage point. A short while later, I notice my [deceased] mother, who has taken shelter in someone's garage. "That's not a good place to be," I tell her. I then briefly continue on my way, before realising that my mother may be afraid and want someone to comfort her. So I descend back down and join her in the garage. Another person also joins us, whose identity I forget.

The Tsunami hits soon after with ferocious force and water begins to fill the garage. "Hold your breath," I say, inhaling deeply. And then I awaken.

Interpretation: I am possibly being limited or 'dragged down' in life by unresolved issues and conditioning connected to my mother.

Observations: Whilst it may seem like an obvious point, a nightmare is not a nightmare because of the specific scenario. It is, rather, the level of fear/discomfort that a dream generates within the dreamer which determines its subjective definition. It occurs to me, for example, that I may once have experienced this dream as a nightmare. However, by the practise of questioning my conditioned (mechanical) reactions, I was able to break-free of this programming.

Also, I've noticed an interesting trend in my dreams recently, in that I've started to use my 'abilities' (normally associated with lucid dreaming) within the context of a regular dream. For example, in a dream fragment, from later in the night, I am attempting to cycle home when I take a wrong turn and find myself in some sort of school yard, inhabited by a gang of yobs. The lead 'bully' attempts to block my retreat. And so, recognizing this as a fear-based scenario, I simply "manifest" a gun and shoot him dead (I even shoot his corpse several times, just to make sure). On some level, therefore, I must be aware that I'm dreaming... Yet not sufficiently aware to become fully lucid.

Notes: In another dream fragment I win £10,000 - and then £1,000,000 - on a fruit machine. What might this represent?

OILD - Because there's ALWAYS another option!

    3. Non Physical Body

      by , 01-20-2011 at 09:06 AM
Used normal relaxation methods and mantras and achieved sp as normal but this time I tried large movements with non physical body.
I got my legs to move a little bit but mostly I had my arms and torso floating through the bed on command! Started attempting to make my head float and had some success.
I then attempted to sit up in non physical form but most have moved my physical body because I was pulled back and woke up.

Probally gonna try a DILD tonight as they seem to work the best for people

    4. Euphoria, Obliviousness to Lucidity, and a Touch of Chaos

by , 01-20-2011 at 08:40 AM (Wandering in Dream Debris.)
I'm at my sister's house, who lives in a different state, and I'm just sitting there wondering how I got there. We talk for a bit and she explains that I came down to visit, so I accept the idea, totally oblivious and non lucid.

While she's talking I close my eyes for a moment and I start to hear music, beautiful music that I've never heard of before. I start to wonder... "Where is this sound coming from?" The longer I kept my eyes closed the further my sister's voice would become like she was fading away as the music got louder. I try to figure out how this is happening and the only thing I can come up with is "Oh I must be stoned." So oblivious to the dream signs again, I accept the idea that I'm hearing music because I'm stoned. Then as I accepted that I began to feel very very high, in fact other dreams I've had where I was high the feeling was never quite like a real life cannabis high, it always felt fake or wrong. This was totally accurate though, I was totally convinced that I was stoned and creating original music from the depths of my mind with the help of some green. (I guess I was partially right)

As I give in I feel this total sense of euphoria as the music completely engulfs me. All I can remember is how beautiful it sounded. But I remember, oh wait I'm in a conversation, I'm so rude! So I begin to open my eyes and I'm somewhere new! I'm in my dad's drive way, how odd. I'm laying down too... with blankets and a pillow, right on top of the asphalt.

Quickly none of that matters though, maybe if I stayed on that thought and tried to figure out all these odd occurrences I could've become lucid, but I was just too distracted by the beauty that took over my vision. I'm staring up at the sky as I lay down on the asphalt and I see a tree above me and in between the patches of leaves there's streams of sunlight coming down. Although I wasn't lucid, the vividness was on par of my lucid dreams. The sunlight streaming down was just so beautiful and when I stared at it long enough the holes between the patches of leaves became amazing blooming indigo, fuschia, orchid, turquoise, burnt orange and crimson flowers. I was totally stunned by the intricacy of it all that I didn't notice the music had stopped.

Suddenly I see the sun setting rapidly and the shadows began to chase down all the light. I get up quickly to retreat to my father's home down the drive way. I pick up my blanket and pillow and almost sprint down, for some reason there's a sense of terror because the darkness is coming on way too fast. Before I can get to the house though, I see a strange thing floating in the sky, it looks like plastic bags or something. I stop wondering what I'm looking at, when I start to see a plane flying some 100 feet above the fence near my father's house. I panic at how close to the ground it is and I know it's going to crash soon. Will it hit me? Will the explosion be close? I watch it fly over me and across the street as it crashes immediately into a neighbors house. I try to run wondering when or if the impact or force of the explosion will hit me, but it never does. I look back and there's nearly no debris, but I see the family coming out of their rooms to find a giant plane in their house with little fire.

My father and brother come out and I explain what happened, but they're very nonchalant about the whole thing and invite me inside. As I look back on the wreckage one more time I try to decipher why all these strange events were happening and before I had the chance to become lucid, my alarm goes off.

    5. A dog

      by , 01-20-2011 at 08:06 AM
I dreamt that we had a great house and a dog. Their was also a fireplace with glasses above it. The dog was always trying to get the glasses on the ground. When we tried to move the glasses, the dog was running toward us from the other side of the house so the dog could hit us and let the glasses fall on the ground.

    6. Random Fragments and yet another Wedding

by , 01-20-2011 at 07:52 AM (Brainy Vapours)
      Fragment 1

A strange dream about people just sitting in their highchair like things, facing me, touching their index fingers together like my 9 month old does.
Something falls down from a tray in front of one of them... Is that my son?

      Fragment 2

A woman trying to park her car in a steep parkade. It's a tiny parkade, very tightly parked cars. She pulls in too close to the wall on the right side and pushes back (and squishes) her side mirror

      Yet Another Wedding

Now I'm shopping for wedding dresses. I don't know what possesses me to try on the one with banana print, I think it's cheap and I have a feeling I am on a really tight budget. I'm horrified at how ugly it is, and how ugly it looks on me. I am even more horrified and upset when I get something on it! I try to get it off, but when I scratch the stain with my nail it turns darker. Panic!

I'm in a taxi and going to a club with a friend and her boyfriend. We're talking. When we arrive he goes up to get drinks from the bar during our conversation about going out. He says as he's walking away from us that when he's upset or angry with his girlfriend, he goes out to the club. He smiles as he stops for a second and says "When I'm upset you know I'm not so Bo-Bo". Then he continues to the bar for the drinks. I know what he means by the statement. Bo-Bo is his name (but not as in the clown), and he means when he's angry or upset he turns into a bit of a sleaze bag, but usually he's a nice guy. I notice his girlfriend has no expression concerning this statement.

He and I are talking. He is slow dancing with his girlfriend in front of me while I sit on a couch. I tell him I go out when I'm upset too, but that it doesn't matter, I don't get into trouble because I'm so average looking. He asks me something which I don't really remember, then makes a comment, something like "Your boyfriend loves you for who you are, which is not average. If wanted or lusted after rake thin girls, he could go f**k something with sharp edges, like a book." - He gave two other examples of things with sharp edges but I can't remember them.

      Fragment 3

Random flash of a some guy - sales guy or bartender? He has a tattoo on his neck, it's a year.. 1100 something. I tell him it's a funny that my son was born that year too.

      Side notes:
I think that the Mugwort is helping me remember my dreams. Glad I ordered more of it.
Perhaps one of my dream signs is Weddings, that's two this week. I'm not getting married nor engaged so it's not like it's on my mind.
I think one other dream sign may be Bars or Clubs. I have had a few set in a Bar/Club now.

    8. 3rd Person Abduction

by , 01-20-2011 at 07:45 AM (Wandering in Dream Debris.)
The details are very foggy but the main part of the dream was pretty alarming. It begins with a woman, who I'm not familiar with, and she's speaking to me and a friend about something totally normal and boring. She vaguely changes the subject to a story, but the way it unfolded in the dream was a bit odd. I didn't hear her say any words but I knew she was telling the story, I suppose through pictures and ideas.

I see her waking up in the middle of the night in her bed. She flips over and notices her baby isn't in the bed next to her, there was never mention of a baby and I didn't see one, but somehow I knew that's what was happening in the story. She looks frantically on the bed in search for it when suddenly a very bright light emits from the ceiling and she looks up screaming but I couldn't hear anything, there was just this great sense of terror and I knew she was being abducted.

Just like that I wake up from the dream. With a very odd sense... like I hadn't just woken up, like I was already awake the whole time? I wasn't the slightest bit sleepy, I felt very alert. So I reach over for my phone to use the recorder on it to take note of my dream and oddly the time was 3:33am. Weird.

    9. Airport

      by , 01-20-2011 at 06:19 AM
I dreamt that I was at an airport. We (myself and a pilot/professor and some other unidentified charecters) were outside and rushing through a parking lot to get to our flight. We were pushing this tall scissor lift contraption with our luggage on top (about 12 feet or so above the ground). One suitcase kept falling off. As we were about to walk through an outdoor gate/security checkpoint, I reached for my passport to be able to walk through the gate, and was suddenly awakened by my alarm clock.

    10. Night One: See You Later Alligator

by , 01-20-2011 at 05:45 AM (A World In My Head!!)
      January 19, 2011

Synopsis: Three dreams, only one I remember, where I painted and stitched together an alligator at work

Note: First night of my 30 Day Dream Appreciation Challenge
      Clicky

I said my mantra, recalling why I love dreaming, and tried to fall asleep as happy as possible. But mostly my mind just drifts off into randomness

      See You Later Alligator
I don't remember my first dream. Well I did when I woke up from it, but I fell asleep before I wrote it down.

I dream of work again. Usually these dreams are stressful with way too many costumers to ring up. But this time I didn't care what was happening in the store. It didn't even bother me that we weren't selling art supplies, everything but art supplies!

I was focused on one task, creating this life size alligator on the floor. It started out as a painting right on the tiles. Then as it became more three dimensional it became like cloth, and I would stitch pieces on. It was important that he was in the middle of the floor!

At one point my make shift alligator got shoved to the side. So I had to fix him, he goes here, in the middle of the floor! Even if it meant people tripped or stepped all over him, he goes here!

The dream was really unstable, so my alligator kept changing shapes on me. I'd come back and he looked completely different. Of course as an artist this upset me, so I would try to fix him. At one point I got fed up, chopped him in half and redid him. There! The manager seemed please too.

Um, not sure what that dream was about. But I am leaving work. So maybe my dream was a pun!

      A Dream I Don't Remember
In waking life, I came back from work and looked at my night-time note pad. I scribbled about a third dream I don't really remember. Which was weird, because what I do remember was that it was vivid. But it's only a vague feeling now.

I was watching TV, and there was this weird show on, about a flood. The scene is so real, I'm sucked in. So I'm just an observer watching this epic story unfold. There is this flood, some kids were caught in it, and a man was trying to save their lives. I watched his entire journey. I think it was a happy ending.

      Happy dreaming!

    11. haven't LDd yet but hopeful

      by , 01-20-2011 at 05:01 AM
Since I decided to start trying to lucid dream I have significantly improved my dream recall. Before when I would wake up I would only remember black. No dreams, I was thinking maybe I am some weirdo that doesn't dream or something... But now I am having dreams and recall them vividly. There have been a couple of times when I almost achieved lucidity but I woke up as I was realizing I was dreaming. So that was a little frustrated with that but I know that it cannot always be helped.

I haven't been as good about keeping my dream journal as I should be, but I also have incredibly busy and keeping weird sleep schedules so I was waiting until my schedule calmed down. Now as things return to normal I will work even harder on dream lucidity and will continue to put entries here (and hopefully soon one of those will be a lucid dream ^_^)
    12. An actual SHARED DREAM

by , 01-20-2011 at 03:28 AM (Beyond the Horizon)
At first it wasn't lucid. I was surrounded by school people; teachers students etc. and there was a tower that two people had to climb. I was just spectating at first, then I became one of the two people. It was kind of like a tower from Assassin's Creed, but don't let that put you off the rest of this DJ. The other guy beat me by like 0.1 seconds. But the top was a trap. It wasn't stable and soon, the other guy fell off and died

I struggled to maintain my balance as the top of the tower was constantly changing and shifting. I eventually fell off, having a classic "falling" dream. But I think that by the time I hit the bottom, I realised that IRL, I never fall of high things, so this must be a dream.

After a memory gap, I found that I was lucid with LostInLA and our friend from church, "B". We were having an awesome time, taking huge leaps and floating down towards the ground again, 200 metres away. We kept doing that, and we passed lots of different scenery. At one point it the ground was a dull grey and there was a castle ahead of us, but it didn't matter. We stopped just before the castle. I said "Why don't we fly?" I then proceeded to jump really high and will myself to fly. But I just hit the ground again. The other two just laughed. We went off to the right, away from the castle.

I remembered that there was something important to do, my dream goals, but I couldn't remember them. Just as we leaped over a massive, green, mossy rock, B said "Let's go to Italy!". She then teleported us all to a really small area that just had 5 buildings that were were standing in the centre of. I jumped up high to see where we were, but outside the 5 buildings, there was just blackness for the ground, and surrounding us in the sky was just a bad quality wallpaper of Italy.

While in the air, I remembered about how I'm supposed to help my cousin with her nightmares, so I shut my eyes and tried to teleport to her house, but it only half worked and I slowly faded back to the Italy place. I hit the ground next to the other two. I said "I need to help my cousin (S) with her nightmares," as I tried really hard this time. I saw a small white vortex when I shut my eyes. Eventually I was at my cousins house. The two bedrooms are opposite each other in their house. The two boys in one, and the two girls in the other.

I arrived in what was supposed to be S and her sister's bedroom, but it was really dark, and there wasn't a bed in there. Just black coloured tables and random things around the room. A second after I arrived, LostInLA and B appeared too. I guess they didn't want to leave me on my own. LostInLA mentioned about waking up since we had been jumping around and talking for a while now, and I said "You want to wake up now?" and she said "Nah, I'll wait."

I then asked them both to say "I will remember my dreams tonight." LostInLA said it like it was a bother to say it, but B said it with enthusiasm. "Alright, I'm going to find S now," they nodded.

I looked out into the hallway. The end of it was blocked. In front of me was the boy's bedroom, but inside, it looked like it had been changed into the girl's room; pink walls etc.
The sister was sleeping, but she looked strange, almost Asian (not that Asians are strange, but it was strange for her to look like that).
S was supposed to be sleeping, but she was just sitting at her table by the window, with craft in front of her. She wasn't doing the craft when I was there.

I walked around so I could see her face, and said "Hey S". (I said her name). She turned and said "Isn't it weird when you try to burp twice in a row?" I was confused by this response, but I tried it and said "Wow, it IS weird "
I had to try and get into her actual dreams, and find out where she is, but I didn't know how to go about it, so I placed my hand on her head, but nothing happened. I just ruffled her hair and said something about how she isn't having any nightmares tonight.

Out the window, there was a massive field of plants, they were growing strawberries and lemons from waist-high grass plants.

      I let myself wake up.

My arm was the most dead it has ever been in my life. I sat up in my bed, and my arm just dragged along after me. It was completely dead. As the circulation returned, I ran out of my bedroom and texted LostInLA, saying I had just had a long lucid with her, does she remember?
She texted back that she didn't remember her dreams.
I then rang up my cousin. This was the phone conversation:

Me: "Hi, may I speak to S please?"
      S: "Hello?"
      Me: "Hey! It's Kevin."
      S: "Oh hi!"
Me: "Did you remember your dreams?"
S: "Kind of. They were good dreams."
Me: "So you didn't have any nightmares?"
      S: "Nope "
Me: "Well, I had a really long lucid dream with me and my two church friends, and at the end of it, I went to you..
(I described the bit with her in it)
S: "Yeah, that's basically how mine went too."
Me: "Really?! And also, outside the window, there were strawberries and lemons growing."
S: "We actually ARE growing strawberries and lemons out the back. Grandma cut some lemons off a tree and we put them into pots. I started growing strawberries in pots too."
Me: "Seriously?! Wow! What were you doing just before I rang?"
S: "Getting ready to go to Timezone."
      Me: "Okay then, have fun!

I then texted B, and she said "Really?? I remembered my dreams when I woke up, but now I can't remember them."

    13. Old - 01 | nonlucid

by , 01-20-2011 at 03:19 AM (Short Stories with Tragic Endings)
I am in my high school's band room. It is a night-time practice during marching
season but we are inside working on music. For some reason I do not have my
saxophone. Instead of just sitting there doing nothing, I am helping the pit. Jill
is having trouble so I go over to help her and I look at the keys on the marimba.
From a distance, it looks completely joined and glassy. At a closer view, however,
the keys are obviously separated, as they should be, but there is no progression
in size. The size of the keys are all random and non-sequential. They should
gradually become smaller, the closer to the right side of the instrument they
come. This is not the case. The marimba should not even play correctly. Somehow,
it does. I go and check the other marimbas across the room and notice that the
letter names for the notes are etched into the keys. I find octave C's, play them,
and show Jill. She gets the orientation and begins working on the music. All the
while, the rest of the band is playing the show. Then my crush comes over to help
Jill with the music. I hug her
      and the dream ends.

The eastern half of the United States is one part and California has an entire part itself. I see that San Francisco is at the bend on California's coast. "Now I'll know where that city is from now on and have a way to remember it," I thought. I look at the map of Hawaii and see that there's a city called "Akono." There are actually two, and "Akono" is the capital of one of the islands.

    15. Lego Eskimos Episode I: The Nun Strikes Back at the Hooker

      by , 01-20-2011 at 03:02 AM
This dream was really long. This dream was actually VERY clear!

      Part 1:
Okay, so my "team" and I are walking in a clone base (you should know these guys if you ever watched "Star Wars")i see black clones, and white clones(who are ALL in lego form). We walk, we're in disguise and we exit the base to go to a Tatooine looking town. I hookshot on a wall and my team talks..I don't know what they said, but it was exciting!

      Part 2:
Somehow, I'm now in a snowy place. A girl eskmo greets me and she leads me to this bridge..She says GO GO! And i go, the bridge starts shaking and somehow i begin to eat a ham sandwich. She then leaves, i believe she had the essence of a girl that i like.

      Part 3:
The dream then goes to a battlefield, there is a rainbow and a tank, with the head of a hooker.... My "team" starts fighting this HOOKER TANK xD When we are nearly defeated a nun, in a tank/helicopter thingy comes up and says,"DIE YOU BITCH!" And she begins to shoot the Hooker Tank...

I had woken up to close the windows cuz it was cold

      Part 4:
I'm home now, in the kitchen making oatmeal again, but sadly, no reality checks D:
I see my dead take the dog outside in the front yard, he then returns and says,"Where's Bandit?" (our dogs name)
      Me,"I don't know."
      Dad,"BANDIT! -whistles-"
My dad does this over and over, but Bandit never came home.
