    1. Waterslide, Knowledge

by , 08-28-2012 at 08:24 AM (Into the Ether)
Entering a classroom setting, a group of us are instructed to find a seat and begin the test.

      Test? What test?

After a few failed attempts, I manage to find a seat and flip open the booklet.

Ah, bubble answers, I can do this.

I bubble in a few things; I seem to know what I’m doing when the test format changes to a computer.

Uh, what exactly am I doing?

I glance over to my neighbor and he doesn’t seem to have a laptop yet suddenly I know what to do. There’s a first person shooter game I’m supposed to ‘play’.

Alright! Game playing, easy as pie. Picking up the mouse, I begin executing a hoard of virtual zombies. Strange, but completely doable.

Game ends. I wait for the results, my score. I can’t seem to read the numbers? Or are they letters?

Now we all sit and listen to a lecture. It’s interesting and the speaker is in the field I want to be in. He’s also decently charismatic until he says something funny about not liking vegetarians.

Oh, that’s right, I’m slowly transitioning into vegetarianism… sort of. Guess I’m included in his statement.

The girl I happen to be sitting next to is giving off a strong vibe. I look at her a moment. She has brown hair, tall, athletic, vibrant. Do I know her? I feel like I know her.

Dream transitions and now it’s post academic setting. We’re bonding at a hotel, with a large water slide. My new friends are shouting at me to jump down the slide. I feel a little foolish but decide I should have some fun. I kick off the boots I happen to be wearing, remove my cell phone from my pocket, then take a running leap through the entrance to the large water slide.

Practically flying down the slide, I can feel the rush of the cool water, the wind against my face, my breathing quicken. I haven’t done this for ages.

Seeing the end in sight and a friend nearby, I attempt to fly backward, mid-flight, and head over to my friend. However, once I hit the water, sinking into the middle of the pool, I hover there a moment. Treading water underneath the surface, I look around and take in the refreshing environment. I feel the beauty of the place.

I get out and wander around the hotel at some point, still with the same group of people.

    2. Best Lucid Aid of Them All! - Tuesday - 2012-08-28

by , 08-28-2012 at 07:24 AM (The Path of Iapetos)
      [COLOR="royalblue"]Non-Aware (Dream)[/COLOR] - [COLOR="blue"]Partially Aware (Lucid Dream)[/COLOR] - [COLOR="navy"]Fully Aware and Vivid (Astral Projection(OOBE)[/COLOR]

I read a thread last night written by someone called "idkwhattoput". By talking to him I realized that he was way above both my level and many other members of this forum even though he was almost completely new to lucid dreaming.
My first suspicion to that came when I read that his smallest problem was to FULLY control the dream.

Sure to get lucid is a task in itself but I have overcome it to at least have at least one lucid each week, but to stabilize and maintain the dream is a completely different story. I have practiced for 4 years and only managed to do that a few times.
Yet this guy claimed to do it easily as pie... I just had to ask him what his secret was.

He told me that it was by triggering a natural Wake Back to Bed or Awakening by drinking lots of water on any other fluid before going to bed. Then after visiting the bathroom he just did a WILD attempt.
I have always been able to master the DEILD and a perfectly timed WILD, because when it is in the right moment it is as easy to count to ten... But I have never been able to find a way to regularly wake up naturally in order to do that.
So I could not believe it was this easy, but I gave it a shot.

For some reason I imagined every glass of fluid as a 40 % chance for me to wake up and I drank two.

Then I went to bed 22:10

[COLOR="royalblue"]I had some super vivid dream where I was a superhero flying around fighting criminals. At one point in this dream I grabbed a sniper rifle and tried to shoot the Joker but it was like he was invincible. I also saw Batman and lots of stuff happened in this dream, but I didn't record it so I don't remember the details.

I had a brief awakening 01:15 and recorded the dream quickly and then dozed off.

Then I had a dream where I was outside and my previous Taekwondo trainer told me that I was going to compete in three matches so I had to hurry. I thought to myself "But I am not doing this sport anymore, I stopped 8 years ago..."
Why am I here? "Maybe I stopped by to watch a match and now just randomly decided to compete ah well it might be fun." I went to my parents that were seated in the crowd and told them I needed sleevelets, then I realized that I have no other protection either nor a taekwondo suit. "We can't buy everything" they said. "But how am I supposed to compete then?" I complained. "I guess you just have to fight in that grey shirt" mom answered.
"Ah ok what ever.... I need to run there now if I am going to make it.".

I started running through the big arena I where in and the competitors were outside, I met an old friend Ralph that asked me if I was back. But I just answered "No I am actually just doing it for fun. I am allowed to kick the head now right?"
"Yeah you are but just make sure that you don't miss and that they get free kicks in your stomach."
I went out to a big grass field and saw the taekwondo-mats. Then I saw some guy playing soccer.

I woke up 04:03 and wrote some keywords and I wondered if I had woke up because the dream had ended or if I needed to go to the bathroom, but I didn't felt the urge so I thought I should try a WILD attempt. I closed my eyes and did some old Michael Raduga non-physical state testing like "Observing images, listening in.." As I listened for strange sounds I heard a tone in my ear, I don't know why but I thought that it meant that I am still in REM, not sure about that now though.
I were on my back and got uncomfortable and switched to a side sleeping posture and started falling asleep unconsciously.

I remember feeling the daydream to dream transition and was lucid for a brief second, but lost it immediately.
[COLOR="blue"]I were looking out on a big crowd and I remember thinking "This is a mistake I am not the artist that is supposed to be going out here... Hmm I might dare to do it since I am dreaming". I think the real artist that was going to sing was Eric Saade and I went out and started singing "Manboy, manboy!"[/COLOR] The dancers looked strange at me, and I panicked and realized that I don't know the whole song. I grabbed the microphone and said "Sorry I am not the real artist.".

I jumped off the stage that was really high so people looked with these eyes at me
I remember that it wasn't a normal crowd but actually a school prom and the students were eating at big tables.

The dream changed and I was on a party in my own house although it looked different. The whole me was different my personality was weird and even though people liked me as a funny guy they couldn't endure two minutes with me. I was kind of like Jim Carrey. I tried to hit on some girls but failed miserably. I also went up to my room and I saw huge spider crawling o my wall! Although I am not surprised, there are tons of spiders in my real home.

I look up into the sky and I see a herd of stars moving super fast. [/COLOR] [COLOR="blue"]I realized that I was dreaming but just a second after watching those stars I realize that I am[/COLOR] looking at the back of my eyelids...
I wondered why I had woke up, but didn't had to think for long because I felt that I had a pinched nerve in my elbow and it hurt a lot.

I had long vivid and stable dreams this night. And best of all I found a way to give myself a DEILD/ WILD opportunity.
So I thank "idkwhattoput" for that and I hope that the coming nights will finally make me progress my stabilization and maintaining progress.

    3. I was lucid now what..

by , 08-28-2012 at 04:35 AM (just chillin till I LD)
I woke up at 4a.m not on my volition and found a little present waiting for me when i went back to sleep. As I drifted off to sleep, I opened my eyes and saw a ps3 controller. I don't have a ps3 so I figured I must be dreaming. I wanted to see how my hand looked and it looked pretty normal. I did a noseplug and woke up...As I went back to sleep , a similar thing happened. I did the noseplug and it worked. It's hard to explain this exactly, but I felt like I could open my eyes to "enter" the dream world. What I didn't realize is that my eyes had to have been open (in the dream) in order to see my surroundings. As soon as I opened my eyes, I fell into a false awakening. I was getting ready for my day etc my room mate said it was it 5:30 a.m. I was rushing...for what reason, I have no idea.
Yea, when I finally woke up I recalled a dream where I was nonlucid in the cafeteria with an old friend DD and some girls with a gym teacher giving them instructions on how to register. I was trying to leave.

    4. Rude Family Members

      by , 08-28-2012 at 03:30 AM
      Non-dream Dream

I am at a wedding of one of my wife's family members. Everyone is giving them cash as gifts but we forgot to bring a gift. We frantically scramble to find $200. We give it to the couple in front of all the guests and they said they didn't want it. They said "checks only - we have too much cash now." We are VERY pissed and this tears the family apart. I just walk away but I regret not saying anything.

False awakening - I wake up and start writing the dream in my journal then I wake up for real after a minute or so (common).
    5. Headaches, Biphasic sleep rhythm, Persistent realms

      , 08-28-2012 at 02:37 AM (Hyu's Adventures)
I figured it was about time to post something again.
      Sorry, no dreams though.
I'll try to get back to that soon...

      *Ramble*
I'm still having issues with headaches, but after finally finding a doc who actually seems to have some motivation to help me, my situation has improved a lot.
It got pretty bad at some point, where I spent most of my time in bed, mostly because I couldn't stand seeing any light.
      But fortunately that's all over.
For some reason I had the discipline to at least take notes about my dreams, which let me tell you, is not a pleasant thing to do if you wake up every morning with a massive migraine. >_>
I'm really glad that I did though, because even though my dream recall deteriorated a bit, I immediately managed to recover as soon as my head got better.
Now that things are better, I'm trying to get this bloody thesis over with.
I'm about half way done... hopefully I can finish it within the next few weeks.
      But enough about that.

So erm... usually I put music here.
Oh well, I suppose I'll just link what I'm listening to right now.

      Biphasic sleep!

I always wanted to try it. The concept sounds really cool.
So much more room for activity! And those naps will surely help with lucid dreaming?
At the time I got my headaches under control I had completely lost any kind of sleep rhythm.
I figured that was as good a time as any to try to get myself into a biphasic rhythm.
Since I am of course a fucking genius (read idiot), I didn't bother looking up how you're supposed to set that up time wise.
It's called biphasic. A main phase and a nap, how hard can it be?
Well, maybe if I had read up on it I wouldn't have failed miserably at my first attempt.

I tried 7 hour main sleep with a 30 minute nap. That sounds about right?
Nope. Completely wrong. Didn't work at all.
That made me tired in the morning, yet I wasn't able to nap. Just couldn't fall asleep.
After reading up on it I quickly realized that this was way too much sleep.
You're supposed to do 4.5 hours main sleep with a 90 minute nap or 6 hours of sleep with a 20 minute power nap.
Holy shit, that's a lot less sleep than what I'm used to.
But imagine if you could gain nearly 2 hours of extra activity each day!

I decided to go with 6 hours main sleep and a 20 minute power nap.
After some more reading I figured the easiest way to get into the new rhythm would be sleep deprivation.
So I only slept for 6 hours the first day, then again for only 6 hours the next.
Woke up feeling like shit. Well, no surprise there.
I remained awake long enough to reach the time where I'm supposed to take a nap.
I was worried that I would fall asleep for too long, so I set myself an alarm for 30 minutes, taking into account the ~10 I would need to fall asleep.
Fell asleep immediately, but I needed the alarm to wake up, feeling very tired.

I tried to keep it up, but it didn't work.
Waking up after 6 hours of main sleep is sort of okay, though I certainly was feeling a lack of sleep after that.
      But that 20 minute nap...
My body just refused to fall asleep at the correct time.
I only got tired like 4-6 hours too late for the nap, and then I would sleep for too long, not getting tired when it was time for main sleep.

I decided to switch to the 4.5 hours main sleep with a 90 minute nap instead.
4.5 hours was a pain at first.
Woke up feeling like shit the first 2 days, but the naps worked!
I got tired more or less around the correct time and woke up naturally after ~90 minutes, though a few times I overslept.
After a few days the new rhythm started to stabilize and I felt refreshed after both the main sleep and the nap.
It's a really weird feeling waking up after only 4.5 hours of sleep and feeling perfectly fine.
Well, I suppose for me this is a new feeling altogether.
I'm the kind of person who usually can't get his ass out of bed in the morning, but on a biphasic rhythm this is no longer the case.

I had a few more issues with not getting tired at the correct time for taking my 90 minute nap,
but I found out that this happens when I am concentrating too much beforehand.
If I'm working (on my thesis mostly) I simply do not get tired.
This sort of makes sense, so I decided to instead relax 30 minutes before nap time.
Listen to music, watch some tv, something like that.
      This works brilliantly.

Lucid dreaming with a biphasic sleep rhythm
Turns out you don't magically have more lucids on a biphasic rhythm.
Or at least I don't. But it is incredibly easy to recall at least one dream after the 90 minute nap.
I often wake up straight from the dream which is pretty cool.
According to my DJ, I recall less dreams per day now that I'm on biphasic though, but more of them are lucids.
I regularly recall 2-3 dreams after 4.5 hours main sleep and another 1-2 (though mostly 1) after the 90 minute nap.
On monophasic I recalled 2-8 mostly. It was pretty random.
What is interesting though is that the last dream I have during the nap always seems to be a long dream with decent to good recall.

Once I had a stable biphasic sleep rhythm I felt confident to try to WILD during the 90 minute nap.
My success with WILD has been rather random thus far. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I never tried to do it consistently until now though.
And right off the start it worked really well!
The biggest difference to a WBTB WILD for me was that I wasn't as tired.
I could actually prevent myself from going unconscious pretty easily.
Transitioning... it sort of just worked. All of the difficulties seemed gone.
I've always had trouble transitioning until now.

The only issue I had and still have with this is that it is really difficult to tell when I've actually fallen asleep.
Usually I don't simply enter a new scene. I start out in the exact same spot I fell asleep in. (In bed)
This makes it difficult to tell when I've actually fallen asleep, and often introduces movement problems.
I always get confused because I think I can't move because I have an SP episode, even though it usually turns out
that I'm simply dreaming about not being able to move.
I usually manage to shake myself loose after a few minutes and go on lucid adventures.
Sometimes I have difficulty falling asleep when I try to WILD. I think in these situations I'm just not tired enough to do it.
I just let myself go unconscious if it takes me more than 5 minutes and hope for a DILD.

Here's my sleep log for the past 7 days: (Times indicate going to bed until waking up, NL = non-lucid)
      Code:
      21.08 - (4:00-8:45)(1 NL + 1 DILD) - (17:45-19:20)(0 NL + 0 WILD + 1 DILD)
      22.08 - (4:20-9:00)(3 NL + 0 DILD) - (18:00-19:35)(0 NL + 1 WILD + 0 DILD)
      23.08 - (4:30-9:15)(0 NL + 0 DILD) - (18:15-19:50)(0 NL + 1 WILD + 0 DILD)
      24.08 - (4:30-9:15)(2 NL + 1 DILD) - (18:15-19:50)(2 NL + 0 WILD + 0 DILD)
      25.08 - (4:50-9:30)(1 NL + 1 DILD) - (18:30-20:05)(1 NL + 0 WILD + 0 DILD)
      26.08 - (4:50-9:40)(7 NL + 0 DILD) - (18:40-20:15)(0 NL + 1 WILD + 1 DILD)
      27.08 - (5:00-9:45)(1 NL + 1 DILD) - (18:45-20:20)(1 NL + 0 WILD + 0 DILD)

      28 dreams ->  4,00  dreams / day
       9 lucids ->  1,29  lucids / day

      lucidity  ->  32,35%
As you can see times are sort of shifting a few minutes day by day.
But I think I figured out why that is.
      What I currently do is:
15 mins to fall asleep + 4,5 hours of sleep + 9 hours awake + 5 mins to fall asleep + 90 minutes nap which leaves me with ~8,6 hours to be awake instead of 9.
I think my mistake is going to bed when it is time to sleep. I should fall asleep at that time, not go to bed and wait another 15 minutes or so.
If I take that into account, and go to bed 15 minutes earlier for main sleep and 5 minutes earlier for the nap I think I can stabilize it.

      Thoughts on biphasic sleep
      • I like it.
      • I pretty much have a guaranteed lucid a day, whereas on monophasic it was a lot more random. (though I did average a lucid a day)
      • I spend ~6,3 hours in bed, 6 of which asleep.
On monophasic, I slept for 8 hours a day and took at least an hour to get my ass out of bed,
so that's ~3 more hours a day for activities.
It may not sound like much, but it feels like a LOT of time.
      • Even though I sleep less I feel less tired.
I feel refreshed after sleep which I never did on monophasic.
      • A biphasic rhythm feels odd, possibly because wake time is split up evenly.
A single day feels sort of like 2 shorter days.
      • I still eat at the same times as beforehand. (12:30 and 22:00)
      • I need an alarm clock to wake up from the main sleep phase on time. (Sometimes I wake up 5min before the alarm)
      • I do not need to set an alarm for the 90min nap.

      Persistent worlds
      (DJ snippet)
Persistent worlds. I've thought about this topic quite a bit lately.
The whole realm around Teraluna is what I'd call persistent. It's more than that.
All my actions have consequences. I cannot use dream powers. It feels real.
I am limited to understanding and training myself in the abilities that are native to this realm.
But the question that's often on my mind is: "How does it work?"
And more importantly: "How can I repeat it?"
After a lot of messing around I have sort of figured out a way how I can create (or access?) such worlds.
I wouldn't call my method consistent, nor would I suggest that it is a proper technique.
I might explain how I do it and my thoughts behind it though, maybe it'll help someone do something similar.

    6. The Storm

      by , 08-28-2012 at 02:06 AM (Dimension X)
Kinda short dream... And I don't remember much... But here it is...

I was in a house with kind of a lot of other random people... I remember it being very windy outside, and we were hiding from a huge storm that kinda seemed like an apocalypse. It was pouring rain outside and the trees were bent a lot from the powerful wind. It's possible that maybe there were tornadoes, but I never saw any. That's actually pretty much it. I don't remember much because I was only just able to type this now, and I had this dream last night.

      by , 08-28-2012 at 01:30 AM
8/7 I was in a group of like 20 people and John was one of them. We were outside. mr. velte (American Studies teacher) had a gun pointed at us and we were laying on our backs trying to scoot away. He told everyone to take their guns out and drop them. Many people did, but I felt my pockets and I didn't have one. I then realize that I did have a gun so I told him so that I wouldn't get shot. He was really angry and then we were tied to bulls and were being dragged across the ground. I was then suddenly in my basement with Jared, Becca, and Charles and we were looking for our guns. There was a maid so we asked her but she thought we were tallking about toy guns so we found toy guns and started playing with them. Mr. Abbinati (my gym teacher) then was there talking about the Olympics.

      Not Lucid.
The dream started with me and my brother in a room(not our room)talking about missing some extra class. It was Thursday,as I suggested us to go the class Friday(dreams tomorrow) because it was our last.
We got out,and stopped in front of our house. The street had much more vivid colors, and more trees.Overall,it looked way better and nicer then usual. There was a couple walking three dogs on the other side of the street,a small white one,a medium black one and a bigger black one.The bigger got loose, the couple didnt bother to get him and just crossed to our side and got out.The dog turned into a white male in pink shirt and a rat-like face and started to try to attack people. My brother and I were scared and decided to run.The dog followed us,we got in other streets to run, soon it was different then usual. As we ran there was a big three in the middle of the street, and I decided to hide, while my brother kept running. The dog was now a white and cream horse with golden hair.I though he would pass straight through the tree, but to my dismay he appeared right next to me,screaming. He then started to run around me,I screamed for help,my brother got there and somehow calmed the horse. The dream soon ended.

I am standing in my room next to my bed. I know that I am dreaming because I had an instant transition from laying in bed to my current position.

I run down the stairs past my cat (who is sitting in mid-air ) to the front door and look out the window. It is dark outside, but still light enough to see everything clearly. I unlock the door, turn the knob, and think, "What if I'm not dreaming?" which scares me and gets my heart rate up. I looked back out the window and noticed a motorcycle in the front yard (with only the rear wheel) which reassures me that I am dreaming, because we don't own one. I calm down and concentrate on a beach, trying to teleport there as I open the door. This doesn't work, which frustrates me. I see a short, hooded person standing in the yard (closest I can relate him to is a goblin) and ask him why I can't teleport. He motions to follow him, which I do - around to the side of the house. I see a large cluster of crystals. the "goblin" then pretends to throw one of them to the ground. I say thanks, pick one up, throw it to the ground, and yell "the beach!" as it shatters into a cloud of smoke. I am now at a beach, staring at the waves. I get so exited to have done it that I wake up.

    10. Dodge ball

by , 08-27-2012 at 11:24 PM (Conscious Sleeping)
After tossing and turning all night not being able to sleep I just gave up. This morning when I decided to try and sleep again I was more successful. Trying to fall asleep, telling myself, "I will dream, I will remember" I slipped off while looking at the light coming from my window. This light slowly fading away, then coming back and turning red as I zoom out and away from a dodge ball leaving my hand. I was in a place I wouldn't be able to recall. Never being here before I was confused as my extremely pissed dad whips another dodge ball at me. I was in a gym. Several other teenagers I've never met before all whipping dodge balls at each other before me. I blink and they were gone. The room brightens and I could feel a warm aura pulsating around me. Looking across this strange gym I find my dad with an exercise ball in his arms and sprinting straight at me. Before I can react I was drilled sent straight into the floor. Momentarily, split seconds before smashing into the concrete I am awake to my grandmother yelling my name.

At in-laws' house. Mum was having a bath in the laundry sink, while my wife and I watched TV. Small children playing on the floor. I was playing with one of them for a while, while I waited for Mum to come out of surgery. Child became upset so I handed her to my father-in-law who had just arrived home from a road trip.

Walking in the city (dream-geography) on a Sunday. Happen upon a bike store with a closing sale. Browse in shop, which is kind of bare. Shopkeeper asks if I'm interested in Trek bikes. I say no, and he proceeds to take me to see some bikes. I was thinking "I bet he'll show me a Trek bike just because he's a salesman." He didn't, but showed me a MTB of some other brand. He tried to convince me that I should have the seat low enough that I could rest both feet flat on the ground while seated, and just to be polite I pretended to agree. He asked if I would be more interested in a road bike, and I said that I ride a fixed-gear road bike. Somehow he knew that I ride 30km (20mi) to work, and was impressed that I ride a fixie. He showed me a weird road bike with a removable rear triangle, which could be re-attached with different lengths to change the wheelbase. Not sure how the chain worked(?). While he was showing me this, two suspicious kids walked in and looked around. I was tempted to talk to them, thinking I could convince them not to steal, but then I got the feeling that the shopkeeper didn't want anyone to do anything, so I watched. They picked up a pair of bright blue ankle-high shoes and walked out. The shopkeeper joked that it would have been impossible to sell those shoes anyway.

    13. Future Prediction? Tell your thoughts.

      by , 08-27-2012 at 10:31 PM
Saturday night(August 25th) , I had a random lucid dream. It was extremely random, here is how it went.

I am having a non-lucid dream of me playing xbox with some buddies of mine, and then I go and lay in my bed with my headset on (still talking to my friends). Then all of a sudden, I fall asleep in my dream and wake up in my bed, except this time I know I'm dreaming. I wanted to have an OBE so I try to imagine myself floating out of my body, and I do, but i just shoot right back into my bed and my body again. So I get out of my bed again and do a RC and my right hand is missing so i am certain I'm dreaming. The I see my friend and he tells me to come with him, so I do. And then he shows me a small room with a tv with the news on it saying Hurricane Isaac is going to go up to a 4 once it hits New Orleans. After that i leave but i cant remember much else.

Now. I'm just awaiting to see if my prediction comes true.

    14. A Storm and a Report Card

by , 08-27-2012 at 08:22 PM (Dreams from the Deep)
      Sleep Time: 3:00 am - 8:00 am

I attempted a WBTB but failed..

      Storm Coming

H and I are walking down a trail. We pass a beautiful white marble fountain several times. There is a storm off in the distance. I notice several small, faint tornadoes in this storm.

      Report Card?

I get a report card in the mail (which I should have questioned since I graduated college 3 years ago). The report card came in 2 pieces but only half of it was mine. The other half had the name of the children of my parents' next door neighbors. I'm calling my step-mother to tell her when my alarm goes off.

I tend to remember my dreams, this is not my memory at its best.

I am about to go inside of a house, when a friend of mine I haven't seen in a while pops out of nowhere. He looks just like he did when I saw him for the last time; petit, with glasses and I think a orange shirt.
He tells me that his glad we finally see each other again and expects to know about me soon.
