    1. 02/20/11 Spiders and shacks and traps... oh, my

by , 02-21-2011 at 04:32 AM (New Dream Adventures of Raven Knight)
Plans: I didn't have any special plans for the night, just to have some lucids and remember them. I am continuing to try to make myself do a RC every time I wake up, but I just never think of it… no matter how much I try to focus on it. I will keep trying, I'm not sure what else to do, though.

      Maze of Webs
I am in the laundry room of our house, looking at the door that leads out onto the back porch. I look back into the kitchen and see that there is no one there, and I am glad there is no one there. I open the door and walk out onto the back porch, closing the door behind me. I almost head blindly down the steps to the carport, but I stop suddenly when I see there is a wall of cobwebs blocking my way. I shudder at the idea that I almost touched those cobwebs… there are spiders crawling all through the webs, they are big, about the size of golf balls. This scares me, even though I am not normally scared of spiders in waking life. I turn to go down the back stairs, but to do that I have to cross the entire porch… which is covered in more cobwebs, walls of cobwebs, everything is covered with cobwebs… and more of those huge spiders. I am momentarily scared into not moving at all, then I snap out of that and I look to the door I just came out of. I go to open the door, but I stop as I see the spiders have already covered the knob with more cobwebs. I need a stick of some kind to pull cobwebs out of the way so I can get out of there… I look around to try to find a long stick, at first I think there is none, but I finally find one. I pick it up, moving carefully to avoid touching any cobwebs or spiders, and use it to scrape the cobwebs away from the doorknob. The cobwebs come easily away from the doorknob, but now there are spiders crawling on the stick towards me… I throw the stick aside and grab at the knob… but it's locked… and I'm out there surrounded by cobwebs…

      Real Life Models
I am in the yard outside of our house. I am designing a small building, designing it in a 3D modeling software, and the building is forming itself right here in front of me. It turns out that there is someone there building the shed as I am directing. We continue designing the building, which is going to be a part of a new game I am working on, and soon it is finished. I go into the house because I need to get something, though I don't remember what that something was because I go back outside without it. I look at the shed, the man who has been helping me says everything is all done. This isn't good… I am upset with him, I tell him he shouldn't have converted the structure into an editable poly until after I unwrap the UVW map and add the textures to it. He says I need to calm down, there is nothing wrong. I say that there is something wrong, I won't be able to add a texture to the shed now… it will all be the same dull color, which will make it unusable. He says no, all I need to do is add the new modifier to it… then add whatever textures and colors I want. I stand there for a minute, then I realize he is right, I shouldn't have gotten upset.

Note: An editable poly is a format for 3D objects in 3D modeling software such as 3DS Max, the one I use. UVW unwrapping and a UVW map is a process used by 3DS Max or other software to place the colors and patterns in the proper places on that object… such as coloring most of a door brown for wood and then making the knob silver.

      Death Maze
I am with a group of people and we are on the run, there are others chasing after us. The people after us are part of the mob or drug dealers or something like that, they are after us because we stole their money. We go into an old abandoned subway system in an attempt to escape our pursuers. We are going through the passages when one of the people I'm with finds a hidden passage, it had not even been visible from a distance. We get inside and head down one of the passages, but we come to a dead end… that's not good… had the entrance closed behind us? No… it hadn't. We head back for the entrance but the people after us are blocking the way, they are standing just inside the passage. Now the entrance slides closed… a lot of good that does now. One of the thugs is trying to figure out how to open the exit, the others are threatening to kill my associates and me. They are pointing guns at us, saying to hand over their money or die. We don't have the money with us. They're going to kill us all? One if them looks like he is about to fire… but he doesn't… and blood starts coming from his mouth… I look and see that a bunch of needle thin spikes are coming from the floor… and all of the thugs have been impaled. The passage is now turning, it is really disorienting… it is rotating around until it looks like we're standing on the wall and the floor is somehow up above us… the ceiling is off to the right… blades come from the walls and are cutting anything and anyone in their path… one of the men with me is caught by surprise… the blade shreds off about an inch from his back… he falls to the ground screaming in pain… the next blade removes his head. The rest of us run down the passage in the other direction, but it's a dead end… I have no idea how we are supposed to get out.
    2. Dream Spiders are Bigger Spiders O_O

by , 02-12-2011 at 10:39 PM (Glimpse Into a Mad Mind)
I hate dreaming about spiders. They're the worst DX

So I was at my mom's house with her and my sister Amy. Every once in a while a big spider would scuttle across the floor and they were popping up more and more frequently. Then a big, lanky, hairless, sky-blue spider with a white hourglass-shaped mark on its back (like a black widow's mark) bit my sister. I had to drive her to the hospital and the car I was in had no roof. It didn't feel like a car; it felt more like a horse and buggy but without the horse.
As I was driving I kept running into all these obstacles and I kept hitting other cars and driving off. Once I was ran into the curb by another car so a bunch of race cars could go by! I was getting really frustrated. My sister's bite was cold to the touch, which was a good thing because it meant the venom wasn't spreading quickly. When we finally got to the hospital, the bite was growing warm, which was bad. I woke up before we went inside.

Man, I'm itching for another lucid dream! DX
I can only attempt to WILD twice a week and I've never succeeded yet. I need a method to try in the meantime...-_-
    3. 02/06/2011 - "Everybody Falls the First Time"

      02/06/2011
      "Everybody Falls the First Time"

I was outside a house that kind of looked like my grandmother's, on my dad's side. There was an overhang above the front porch, and I had to go back into the bushes to look for something. This porch was infested with spiders, which had made webs that criss-crossed through the small walking space between the bushes and fence, and the deeper I got into this space, the thicker the webbing network became. I had been trying to keep out of contact with these webs, but it was just impossible. When my arms or legs would touch up against the webs, I could feel that they were about the consistency of metallic thread, and I was feeling more and more trapped inside. It got to the point where I wasn't sure I would be able to get back out from behind the bushes, without taking some of these webs out with me. Small spiders dotted the webbing in scattered areas, and I was able to avoid them, for the most part. A friend of mine handed me some sort of cleaning tools - though I don't remember what they were - and I got to work, breaking these webs and spraying whatever spiders I could find.

Randomly, I happened to look to the left, eyes fixed just slightly higher than my head. There, hanging no more than a foot away from my face, was the grand-daddy of all spiders. It was hung with its enormous legs curled up to its softball-sized body - the entire creature probably about the size of a baseball glove. For a moment there, I was paralyzed with fear. I already don't like spiders, and this thing looked like it could strike at any moment, and wrap around my head like a face-hugger from the movie Aliens. Swallowing the terror which was surging through my body like a high-voltage current, I sprayed this monster and swatted him down off of his perch. I then broke out from behind these bushes as fast as I could, and went around to the front. Apparently, I'd done my job, and this spider was dead. Even while it was lying on the ground, motionless, I just couldn't believe the size of this thing. Not missing the chance to document, I pulled out my phone and took a picture of it.

Not long after this, the old woman who lived in this house (who wasn't my grandmother) came home. She was driving an old Caddy, or something similar.Pulling into the garage, the woman slammed into the wall, piercing the home with the grille of her car. She put it in reverse and pulled it back out, and we all ran over to assess the damage. It wasn't too bad, but we were all still wondering WTF she was thinking. We talked to her for a while, and she was a little shaken up, but it turned out she wanted to give it another go. I thought this was a horrible idea, but she was back in the car before I really even thought about saying something. Wasting no time, she slammed on the gas. There was a teenager walking across her driveway, and he had to dive out of the way so the woman wouldn't run him down - which she would have - and the car then disappeared into the garage, followed by an enormous crash.

We ran to the garage, and saw that the car had gone completely into the house, and through the kitchen, debris strewn all around. The woman was ok, but she'd done some major damage to her home. Soon, we were all trying to fix whatever we could help her with. A rack of glass panes were wheeled in, to replace some of the glass cases and windows she'd destroyed, and I noticed that this glass was much stronger than regular glass. Someone told me that it was a special type of glass - which even had a specific name, that I can't remember - and it was the type of glass that they use for those 'sky-walk' things, like at the Grand Canyon, designed to support your weight, when you stand on it and walk out over the gorge.

During this explanation, the dream made an unexpected transition. I was now standing outside of a skyscraper window, hundreds of meters above the ground, perched on one of these panes of glass. The glass plank was only maybe 2x2 ft., and was nowhere near adequate for safely supporting a full-grown man, at such extreme heights. I pulled back and pressed myself against the glass behind me, wondering just what the hell I was doing way up here. Behind me, I noticed that there were some people inside the building. They were encouraging me to jump. That's when I noticed that I was attached to a bungee cord. It seems that I was on a bunge platform, but I had absolutely no intention of jumping.

Across the street was another skyscraper, practically identical to the one I was on. I heard someone scream and looked up above, to the rooftop on the building across from me - which was still hundreds of feet higher than the level I was on. A person had plummetted off of the rooftop and was screaming as they soared down passed my position, careening toward the street far below. Their bungee cord then recoiled, saving them from what would have been certain death. Another person followed, shortly after. These people were obviously braver than I am, because even when I could bring myself to look down, I would throw myself back against the glass, trying to keep myself from tipping over.

One last person hurled himself off of the adjacent building, his trajectory bringing him out a lot further than the others. What I hadn't noticed was that there was another platform on my building, about a dozen feet above my head. This guy had jumped far enough to carry himself across the double-laned gap of road beneath us, just to the side of the building I was on, and slammed down hard, onto the platform above me. I could hear everyone behind me yell "oooooohhhh!!!" The guy - obviously in a lot of pain - was able to slowly shift his body to one side, and just kind of rolled off of the platform. His limp body continued the descent, passing within a few inches from my side, and dropping like a stone, toward the street.Unfortunately, I couldn't resist the urge to track him with my eyes, tilting my head forward just a bit, to see further down toward the street. My body, it seemed, was destined to follow, and I felt myself teeter away from the glass window. I tried to pull my center of gravity backward, but it was too late. Now it was I, who was falling down toward the street, the knot in the pit of my stomach growing exponentially, while the ground rushed up toward me. I don't remember whether or not I screamed, but I wanted to. As far as I know, my bungee cord never snapped me back up, instead, I just kept dropping further and further, faster and faster, until I finally woke up, seconds before hitting the ground.

(I had set The Matrix to loop, while I slept, and this dream felt distinctly like Neo's being stuck on the ledge during his office escape, and his fall between the two buildings, while trying out the jump program. I don't know that they were directly related, but it all felt way too similar not to be.)

    4. Tornadoes and Trucks

      by , 08-03-2010 at 07:59 AM
Well, this was a rather interesting dream. For the second night in a row, I was driving in a vehicle. The dream started off on some sort of downwards sloped, dry grassy hill. At this point, I either hopped into, or was placed into (I can't remember which) some sort of short, yellow, semi-fortified vehicle, which reminded me of a smaller, flatter tractor. Once inside, however, it just felt like a normal car. At this point, I started driving up a dirt road, which then led onto a highway, with cars going both directions (i.e., up the hill, and down the hill). It wasn't a winding hill, as such, it was a hill that went straight up, and then followed around a bend. The road for the main part of the hill was a bitchumen road, and the dirt road I was driving on continued upwards, splitting from the bitchumen road, but staying next to it (only difference being that it was rising). At this point, I chose the bitchumen path, which was a wise decision, as tornadoes started to come down the dirt road, from higher up the hill. The majority of them passed by me with little effect, though some of them started to pull on my car quite strongly. I think I recall one of them nearly pulling the car off the road, though I'm not entirely sure. My memory is blank until the next event:

This is a bit vague, but I recall being back on the original grassy hill again. My cousin was there, and I think there was some sort of watchtower. He was also in a vehicle, though the seemed much smaller now - kind of like vehicles that you could wear around your waist, but still drive. I don't recall much more, except that there was a third person there, and my cousin was at one point significantly taller than I was (in his vehicle), and there were spiders dropping off him and onto the ground, and onto me - possibly biting me, but I'm not sure. It was at this point that the mild panic and fear caused me to wake up in quite a groggy state.

This put the following idea into my mind - breathing based Reality Checks. Breathing is obviously one of those muscles that are both involuntary, or voluntarily controlled. This led me to think, if you're in a dream, chances are, you aren't thinking about your breathing, therefore it's involuntarily controlled, and most likely synced to your real breathing. I thought, perhaps as part of my regular Reality Checks, I could incorporate breathing into it, and think "Is the type of breathing I'm doing about right for the situation I'm in?", with the thought that if I have an adrenaline fuelled dream like this again (tornadoes would be quite scary in real life), that in my dream I may think - "Hey, there's Tornadoes, maybe I should be breathing a little bit quicker?", in the hope of realising I'm dreaming, and then turning lucid.

    5. Underground City

      by , 08-01-2010 at 06:17 PM (Burke's Nightly Escapades)
Last night I had two very similar dreams in that it was the same place, same people I was with, and the same "goal" of the dream, or what I was tying to do.

#1: I was in some sort of city that was underground riding my bike with me sister and a friend. There were houses to the left and a thin platform about 2 feet wide that we rode our bikes on. To the right was about a 5 foot drop into a river that was really murky and smelled funny.

We started riding along the small path that was much like thin 2x4s laid next to each other. We drove past a few houses and I say another friend of mine siting on his porch just staring off into the distance. I waved to him and he said "Hey, what's goin' on?"
"Just riding our bikes," I replied, "Wanna come?"
"Nah I can't" And so he stayed there, sitting on his porch.

We rode down this small ramp that was there on the trail and had to make a small turn to the right only the trail narrowed to about 2 inches wide. I was the first to go and just sped through it hoping I wouldn't fall in. Then came my sister, and third was her friend. About 15 feet down the trail it ended into a very narrow alley which was about a foot wide, just enough for a small adult to fit through.

I started to squeeze through it only to notice that it got narrower as it went. Worst yet was that when I was about 2 feet from the outside I got stuck and a giant spider about the size of a CD started walking towards my face from where I just was. I'm normally not afraid of spiders but this one was a bit too big and out of my comfort zone.

I started wriggling as hard as I could and right before it got to me I managed to squeeze all the way our and was in another alley, only this one was of normal size and a good 10 feet wide. Before I could get a good look around
      I woke up.

#2: Later that same night I had a dream that was very similar, only this time it included more of my friend and stayed underground.

It was the same setting as last time, even the same spot we started at and the same people were with me. We started riding up this hill and once we were at the top we noticed somebody was there and was taking a sobriety test. I couldn't tell who it was but I noticed that he had to walk in a straight line placing one foot over the other (Like a normal sobriety test would)I couldn't tell who it was since it was so dark, so I went behind the housed on our left and started looking around for a flashlight. I noticed a wooden table with some tools on it and there were also two flashlights, a red and a yellow one. I picked each up to see if it had batteries in it and the yellow seemed rather heavy so I grabbed it and walked back over to the officers.

I shined it on him and noticed that it was my friend who was taking the test. I said, "Hey, whats going on? Were you drinking or something?"
"No," he replied cautiously. "Not a lot anyway."
The officers then decided to let him go and walked away. I asked him again, "You wanna come for a ride?"
      "No thanks" he said again.
"Okay, how about just a walk then?"
"Alright, that sounds good." And so he started to walk with us.

The same narrow part in the trail was there still but since we were walking, we just jumped right over it. We came to the same narrow alley and this time I noticed two spiders, both as big as the last. One was black and fuzzy, like a tarantula. The other was a yellow and black combination with black on part of it's back and yellow every where else.
(If this sounds like an actual type of spider please say something) I decided this time I would kill the spiders first and then go through the passage. I stepped down near the river and grabbed a remote control that was laying on the floor (?)and smacked the black spider once and knocked it off the wall. My friend then grabbed my hand and yelled, "What the heck are you doing!?"
"Killing the spider so I can go through," I replied, a little confused. It was at this point that he started shaking me and I could feel the dream fading. I then knew it was a dream but it was too late
(No, this doesn't count as an LD since this is how all my dreams end
    6. It's all just bloody fragments!

      by , 07-17-2010 at 02:22 PM (exdreamer's Dream Journal)
Key: Non-Lucid, Lucid, Commentary/Notes, Hypnagogic Hallucinations

Hopefully I'll have some multiple detailed recall soon rather than all these fragments and disjointed scenes.

      Convicts Fragment

I was trying to catch two escaped convicts. I recall having tricked them in to going to some kind of theatre. I was sitting in a comfy red chair and looked over at them. I told them they were rumbled, and one ran. The other guy just seemed to give up. I thought that one out of two wasn't bad.

      Sex Fragment

I was having sex with someone. We were outside in the middle of the high street in a nearby town, except nobody was around except for me, the woman I was with, and apparently a few other random naked women.

      TV Fragment

I was with a weird mix of different people I've known over the years. We were all at J's house and were going to some TV show recording. The next thing I recall is that it was over. I was sat next to D. When I got home the show was already airing and my parents were watching it. The house I was in was a mix of J's house from earlier and my deceased grandmother's. I was using a computer to talk with C online. I was telling him that he should have come along.

Then my parents said the show was over. I turned to the TV to see the camera pan over the audience. It stopped on me! I looked really haggard and was a bit pissed off.

      Spiders Fragment

There were spiders on my bed. Two small light brown coloured ones and several black ones with turquoise patches on their backs. I was squashing them.

I'm arachnophobic, so that's where this dream came from.

      The Name Change

I seemed to pick up a bit from the previous dream. I was in the same house. I walked out back in to the garden, which was completely like my deceased grandmother's. I had a laptop and sat on a bench. J came out in to the garden next door. He said hey, and I replied to him but using IM on the laptop. We had a brief conversation where he was talking and I was replying using IM. Eventually we both realised I should just speak since he was in front of me.

He told me he had changed his name to "Grandfather." Which I said was a bit dumb. We were chatting and he hopped over the fence and we went inside. For some reason he was now about 4 inches taller and bald. We were in the kitchen grabbing something to drink, when my parents walked in and were confused as to who the random extremely tall bald guy was. Then they realised it was J. I told them he wasn't J any more, he was "Grandfather" -- with a knowing glance that it was dumb.

    7. June 18, 2010

by , 06-20-2010 at 03:31 AM (Whirlwind of Dreams)
      Bees:
I was on a playground, since, I recall seeing the green grass underneath my feet. I think I feel something on my back. I put my hand where the feeling is and kill whatever it was. Turns out that there was a bee there which almost stung me. I felt a bit odd but it was possibly shock, since, no pain was felt.

      Work with Juice:
I was at work and making some new juice. I made the first mixture which consisted of putting a bird with some sugar. I made another mixture, this time using spiders and sugar. I tasted it, it had an interesting flavour which is pretty difficult to describe.

Thoughts: Well, fragments again. I only recalled my bee dream later on in the day and as for the juice one, well, let's just say that drinking birds is NOT something I'm interested in One thing I've noticed is that I'm dreaming about work a lot lately, possibly due to thinking about it during the day. It could be a new dreamsign depending on how long it lasts. I do seem to be remembering more dreams, but, they are pretty short. I do miss my longer dreams and I do miss having LDs
    8. Morning of October 16th 2009

      by , 06-08-2010 at 10:00 PM (Slash's Mind Cave)
I was in this big room kind of like the first room of the "Nacht der Untoten" Nazi Zombies map on Call of Duty World at War. And instead of zombies coming, it was spiders. I think there was someone else with me, and we were kicking spider butt.

I woke up, I sat there on my bed, I couldn't be bothered doing anything, so I went back to sleep.

The moment I fell asleep I was in a dream and I said to myself, "I think I will just have a regular dream", then I said to myself "hell naw, if this a dream, I want to be lucid", and of course I had realised I was dreaming.
But, as I said that, my dream slowly faded away, I started to feel my real body again, I was panicking at this point, which didn't help.

Then after a good few seconds I was awake, I was quite annoyed, so I lay there, not moving, picturing that dream scene in my head and telling myself I will keep awareness. And I slowly came into a dream (lucid) I could see everything was back the way it was. But, I felt my real body again, I could feel the really uncomfortable heat of the sun coming through my window. And the dream slowly faded away again, this time it was like object by object, rather than the full thing fading away.
And I woke up, I did the whole DEILD thing again, and I saw my dream scene again then woke up.

This happened a couple of times before I realised it is pointless, because that sun was just making it so unbearably uncomfortable, it just woke me up every time.

      So I just left it.
