    1. Big Books and a Big Greek Coin

      by , 05-10-2020 at 05:00 PM
Morning of May 10, 2020. Sunday.

Dream #: 19,501-03. Reading time (optimized): 2 min.

My dream self lacks any waking-life references (and as usual, there is no recall of the present state of the world), though I become interested in a couple of big books with ambiguous content in an unknown but mostly undefined setting. I treat them as mine.

The first section of the books seems to feature summaries of dream content, the second, various comic strips (“Blondie” being the one I focus on more), and the third seeming like the Yellow Pages of a phone book. I read a “Blondie” comic strip at the top of a left-hand page, atypically of only two panels, the second panel featuring a winter scene in a city. There is a scene that briefly seems to be in a “real” setting when I am looking at the front of the residence where Dagwood and Blondie live. I consider meeting Dagwood and going to parts of his house that no one (including the Bumsteads) had ever seen. (In a previous dream, I was at a party with Dagwood, his boss Mr. Dithers, and Blondie, and they appeared mainly as in the comic strip.)

Imaginary somatosensory cortex dynamics initiate but link to a static form of the vestibular cortex model (in contrast to “Fun with Rockets and Alien Spaceships” from May 1) and no dynamic foundation of myoclonus (waking start or falling trigger).

As a result, I find myself with an old Greek coin, the one that features the Owl of Athena (a flight reference for my dream’s waking transition as always occurs with this mode of dreaming). (One of the last static versions of this process was a sketchy drawing of a crow appearing in a mirror in “Sophie the Ghost” from May 3.) Even so, the coin is about three times bigger than an American quarter and possibly hollow.

Although the coin is too big to be real, I briefly consider it genuine and valuable. I plan to show it to this dream’s unseen sleep-wake manager (an unknown male), but before I reach him, I see “Athens” to the lower right of the owl relief in uppercase. I read it clearly, and it does not change over time. I consider the coin cannot be genuine because of “Athens” being in English. I wake upon realizing this.

This dream stems from childhood dreaming practices in which I tried to hold onto a summoned coin to awake with it (and of course, it never worked, although I sometimes woke while pinching my pillowcase). The process (and its absentminded expectation by way of the virtuous circle effect of dreaming practices) has occurred in thousands of my dreams, sometimes with a static link to myoclonus associations as here.

I will include another example from 2017 when I sat at a table with Les Gold (of “Hardcore Pawn”), and we were discussing a fictitious 1970 limited edition American quarter that featured the outline of Jonathan Livingston Seagull. We talked of how the coin was unpopular, with similar notoriety as the American Susan B. Anthony Dollar.

    2. Comic Strip Strangeness

      by , 09-11-2018 at 03:11 PM
Morning of September 11, 2018. Tuesday.

Reading time: 1 min 6 sec. Readability score: 63.

I still had traces of the flu during this period. Vestibular system correlation took on a rather odd form in the otherwise typical transition, an atypical combination of internal and projected awareness. I was semi-lucid but did not maintain focus.

I enter the world of Barney Google and Snuffy Smith by liminal intent. Snuffy has a daughter of about my youngest daughter’s age. Snuffy’s daughter (fictitious as relevant to the real comic strip) walks through a doorway and my dream shifts rather than the doorway association serving as an exit. I then realize it is my daughter standing in the room in real life, but I shift back into the dream state.

Now I am viewing a Hi and Lois comic strip. It features Chip and an unknown girl (partially based on a real comic strip I had just seen previously - see image). They are riding a subway. The girl is on Chip’s left, so this is a typical rendering modeling (in real time) of how I am sleeping with Zsuzsanna with her on my left. On the left of my view of the comic strip are a few odd sketchy characters with stop signs for heads (though otherwise drawn like a Hi and Lois character).

The surreal comic strip is a result of my ongoing semi-lucid thoughts. Eventually, within a larger version of the comic strip, is an insert displaying the external movement of a real subway (like the film of a passing train, although I view its side as if from above). I say “look at that,” (even though the preconscious avatar is not visibly present) and wake slowly, feeling the illusory movement in my body.

    3. Toy Vending Machine

      by , 02-22-2015 at 08:22 AM
Morning of February 22, 2015. Sunday.

Dream #: 17,597-03. Reading time (optimized): 1 min.

My gadget dream starts with my youngest son’s birthday (which was in real life recently). My attention is on a miniature Coca-Cola vending machine that changes over time. I look into it from the upper part of the back, and it is bigger inside. I see metallic mechanisms in the inner compartment. The toys are within the mostly hollow mechanical sections instead of the front for distribution.

I retrieve a couple of items from it. I look farther down and notice several cut-out daily black-and-white comic strips taped upside-down over the internal silver walls. One, with four panels, features crows flying around and seemingly attacking Mary Worth. I think about taking the comic strips out to read, but I do not as they seem too far down to reach and pull out.

After I examine the inside of the toy vending machine, I give my son two of the presents from it. One is a raccoon figure (possibly a windup toy) and the other a jigsaw puzzle, made from packing peanuts, of a squirrel. It is in a small transparent pillow-shaped bag. Zsuzsanna cheerily complains about its quality. We leave it unopened because of already having an identical puzzle (false memory). I suspect the pieces are too soft to stay connected, and they also crumble. We will likely discard the duplicate.

The raccoon figure is likely an association with one lost at a previous address, but which had belonged to our oldest son. The puzzle is an association with being in liminal space.

    4. Long random dreams, LD #2

by , 04-02-2012 at 02:55 PM (Lucid Time!)
The first thing I can remember was coming home from school and being very excited. My mother told me that my old childhood friends (their names being Riley and JP) were coming up from Georgia for a visit.
I came home and went into my room and played Minecraft for a little while. Then I went on the internet and there was this article about these explosions happening because of some gas that had escaped into the atmosphere. They were talking about what states in the US had explosions over them.
Then, the knock on the door. I ran over to see, and sure enough my two childhood friends were there. They were coming in and for some reason I was having trouble seeing them.
My mom came upstairs and took me into the bathroom. She told me that I had some sort of sickness that caused my eyes to swell up and make it difficult to see. She said that it would go away in a couple of hours.
Eventually Riley and JP were up in my room. I showed them the article on the internet about the explosions happening. The article had updated and there was a video that showed the times that the explosions had happened. Then a newscaster came on and said "This catastrophe is only going to get worse."
Around this time my problem seeing wore off and I could see fine again.
My parents called me from downstairs and told me that I had to go to some kind of after-school study session or something. I told them I wanted to stay home and be with my friends, but they told me that if I did not go I was grounded.
We all got into the car and drove to my school. I was walking down the hallway, and I told Riley and JP that I was sorry that they were having such a bad time visiting me when all of this boring stuff was happening.
Then I took out this comic strip I drew. I wanted them to read it while I was studying so that they wouldn't be bored. The comic strip showed people fighting, but the paper had some kind of power, and the comic strip was animated. It was sort of like a stop-motion movie with a bunch of drawings actually moving around on the page. The problem was the animations would only play once.
Then my parents made us get into the car again. He told us we were going to the arcade and going to see a movie. I cannot remember what movie we were seeing, just that I did not want to go see it. I said that I did not want to go to the arcade because it was a crappy, worn down place.
He said that we could just go to the movie, but I think we went to the arcade anyway.

Then I cannot remember how I arrived at the far side of my own neighborhood. It was foggy and cold. There was a man wearing a black jacket mugging me. I can remember him having a big knife.

I became Lucid and immediately took care of the threat at hand by throwing a huge fireball at him. But as soon as I did that the dream destabilized too quickly for me to salvage it.

I was awake, and I'm about 95% sure I was actually awake, and had not just FA'd. I affirmed to myself that I would go back to sleep but remember all of the dreams that I already had.

I fell back into another non-lucid dream. I was actually inside the game Minecraft and there were these guards. They told me that I was in trouble for stealing. They told me that I had to go inside a wooden building; that was like a jail or something. I went inside, and It looked like any Minecraft house. There was a bed, a workbench and a couple storage chests.
For some reason, I got really sad and sort of spiritual. I began punching the walls of the building, and just as in the game, I got out of the building and went onto the rooftop. I moved the bed up there and went to sleep. But just as I was falling asleep, I can remember someone walking towards the bed.

I false awoke back into the same dream. I was really groggy and the dream was no longer like Minecraft. I was just in a bed. I was laying on my side with my arms wrapped around something.
I got up and realized there was another person. I got up into a crawling position and realized who it was. I won't tell you her name, but I will tell you that SHE is from my school, she hates me, and she was totally naked!
To some relief, I noticed that I was wearing cargo shorts and a T-shirt.
I asked her what she thought she was doing she told me that she "could not resist any longer" I guess my mortal terror and shock caused me to have another false awakening.

I had a vivid false awakening in my own bedroom. There was this boy in my room (who's name was Connor I think)
He said that he was borrowing an eyepiece from my telescope to look at something.
He set up this really old looking telescope on my windowsill and looked out at the sky from my window. I told him to just stay as long as he wanted. I was going back to sleep.

I finally woke up in real life, after all of those dreams. I made sure to RC to make sure I was not going to FA again without catching it.

    5. Id Money

      by , 04-03-1985 at 10:03 AM
Morning of April 3, 1985. Wednesday.

I am in an unfamiliar store that sells miscellaneous items. (I get the impression the cashier is oriented east of me). I am not fully sure what I am going to buy. There is an association with smaller paint-by-number kits (that come in sets of two paintings each) as well as bathroom supplies (such as shampoo).

The main focus is on puzzlement over my wallet and the money I have. It is not all actual money at first and eventually there is no “real” money in bills at all.

Instead of twenty-dollar bills (and other notes), which is what I thought I had more of, the cash is actually cut out comic strips of “The Wizard of Id” (that are slightly larger than normal). This of course is quite embarrassing but surely the “money” is not realistic enough to be associated with the idea that I am trying to use counterfeit money deliberately. There is no drama or eventual threat from anyone else based on my actions or possession of “funny money”. I mostly just search through my wallet without finding any “real” money and become quite puzzled. I believe there is also some Monopoly board game play money which has appeared in other dreams as such. I am trying to remember why I put all these cut out comic strips in my wallet or maybe I did it absentmindedly.

My sister carol always pronounced the “Id” in “The Wizard of Id” as rhyming with “ride” (as in being like the contraction for “I had”) though I always said it as rhyming with “rid”. This particular dream may be a reflection concerning the idea of id and ego (see “Why Freud Still Matters, When He Was Wrong About Almost Everything”) though more as being rendered comedic (as a comic strip) in hearing about and associating with such ideas.

I cannot presently recall a dream about wanting to buy something and seeing my paper money as it should actually be. I do not believe that having distorted paper money (often printed on only one side in dreams) is symbolic at all just as many things in dreams are clearly not symbolic but solely an artifact of the dreaming or waking process itself. It is not because of the unconscious mind being unable to render print or numbers or letters in a certain way either, as I have had numerous dreams with very realistic comic book pages (on both sides) and other printed materials.

    6. Snoopy Comic Strip

      by , 11-07-1975 at 05:07 PM
Morning of November 7, 1975. Friday.

I am focused on both walking through the hallway (related to getting ready for school) and reading the day’s newspaper’s comic strips. There illogically seems to be more than one instance of the Peanuts comic strip though I only remember the contents of one with greater clarity. The style and general look of the art is exact (which is not always the case in these types of dreams).

There are three panels of Snoopy setting up a beach blanket and umbrella. In the last panel, is only the shape of Snoopy’s head implied to be covered with beach sand as his body from the neck down is also in the ground itself. A thought balloon clearly reads “I hate the sand”.

As is often the case, this relates to coalescence and the waking stage. The sand covers him “at the end” (projected static dream self perspective no longer viable). I did not find any comic strips that could have influenced this dream unlike my dream where exact remote viewing occurred prior to seeing the same gag in real life (my utterly unexplainable Nancy Comic Strip dream with the exact same gag and wording). Comic strips are ordinarily the downsizing of the dream state to render it static for whatever reason (perhaps a subliminal attempt to “freeze” the dream to remain asleep for longer and yet still with a potential for continuity, the focus from panel to panel). Sand also relates to the passage of time (due to association with erosion), so in a way, that backs up the other implications (in wanting to sleep longer).

    7. Remote viewing of “less dishes”

      by , 04-27-1974 at 11:24 AM
Morning of April 27, 1974. Saturday. (Just prior to sunrise.)

This entry has been newly researched and fully authenticated in July of 2014 with an additional amazing discovery on September 3, 2014. All of the original documentation is included with only minor additional information.

This dream seemed to be an extraordinarily vivid example of either remote viewing or personal-path-precognition or likely a hybrid of both. To be as meticulous as possible in my dream work for this detailed special entry, I should add here that my consciousness seemed disembodied and floating about six feet from the floor, looking downwards, about two feet out and a few inches to the right of my slightly-open bedroom door. I was seeing the comic strip as if it might be on the newer wooden living room dresser, but it was actually too close to my “eyes” for that to be the case, unless it was involving binocular-like vision as I have often had before in dreams.

Probably one of the most detailed, viable proofs I have had as a younger teenager on something I call “universal mind” (sometimes called “non-local mind”), relative to the supraconscious or “all mind” (and the reality of at least something similar to viable remote viewing) unfolded when reading a Nancy comic strip in a dream at age thirteen when living in Cubitis, Florida before I read it a short time later in reality (same day). (This is a comic strip by Ernie Bushmiller that my mother had a tendency to cut out and save in her scrapbook at times.)

I am still convinced years later in 2014 that this was a paranormal event and not coincidental and there is absolutely nothing that would alter that understanding - it is simply too precise.

Update (September 3, 2014)…To add more to the strangeness, there is a much older version of this gag that was published on a Tuesday in April 22, 1947. That strip has aspects of my dream which also relate to one perspective (but mirrored). I could not have seen this strip before. It adds another layer to something that is already completely unexplainable - and in addition, it was used at the top of a web page that contains the line “Where others find slippery mysticism these authors, Mark Newgarden and Paul Karasik, see cold hard mathematics”. The old version is below - and to me, looks a lot more modern than the much later version. (In fact, I actually thought it was a modern fake due to Aunt Fritzi’s mode of dress. It seemed too preposterous and out-of-place.)

In the dream, unlike many of a similar nature involving the reading of such as a comic strip, I was actually able to discern and understand what I was reading (instead of odd, continuous non-words or unresolved gags as was often the case). Nancy drops some dishes while washing them. Aunt Fritzi, from the other room, exclaims “MORE dishes, Nancy?” (as in breaking more dishes). Nancy replies along the lines of “No, Aunt Fritzi, LESS dishes”. As I was seeing this, the sound of the newspaper hitting the front yard (again, it was still very early in the morning) woke me up. The Nancy comic strip in that day’s newspaper was the same as the one I had just seen in my dream, but with very subtle differences in panel width and arm position in the final perspective.

I should add here that there was a “reset” of the dream that was not as vivid and which seemed like residual “re-imagining” of the prior. In this case, the comic strip was nearly the same except that there was an additional first panel (fairly vertically narrow) showing Nancy standing on a chair at the sink, her profile facing left, actually washing the dishes. This was so clear that I have actually “remembered” the “reset” dream version over the real comic strip.

Perhaps I should also add that my mother would call out “save the pieces!” whenever I dropped a dish (which usually did not break - they were all plastic) in real life, which also happened later on this day, but is not unique to it. Note that seemingly “doubled” precognitive synchronicity was not all that uncommon for me.

Note that remote viewing and precognition often “feel the same” at times. However, this particular type of event given here, which seems specific to seeing something not yet read, has its own precise mood and “flavor”.

It is important to remember that I did not edit the descriptive details and that what I originally thought was “re-imaging” to a certain extent was somehow also “seeing” aspects of the 1947 version (which I had not seen in real life before) but mirrored and blended in with the newer version. This is intriguing to me. This also relates to two of my last dreams that had broken glass in them (in September 2014) - as if the dream was partially “telling me” to look upon this unexplainable event again (although really, there have been thousands of remote-viewing and precognitive experiences in my life that were far too precisely detailed to be coincidence such as with the typical cop-out mentality of “normal” people).

Below is a representation of the in-dream version, but not exact. For example, the first panel was a little more on the side (more towards a profile of the scene). The real question is why? Out of thousands upon thousands of comic strips, why this one and why the synchronicity of layers? It seems related to my accident as a toddler where my wrist and even tendons and such were severally slashed falling on a broken mug that had hit the floor prior to my fall - note Nancy is on a small stool in one version of the strip, similar to the one I fell from. I still do not truly know the forces behind these sort of events. I can say that this is typical of my day to day experiences since early childhood in that unexplainable events of this nature often have additional unexplainable connections for some reason (for example, in this case, the much older strip I could not have known about and related dates), making it even more unlikely to have a typical cop-out “explanation.
