    1. White Moth (and Shopping Cart)

      by , 11-24-2017 at 09:05 AM
Night of November 23, 2017. Thursday.

I am near full lucidity and aware of my conscious self identity. I find myself in a parking lot at nighttime. A shopping cart is moving in front of me. Although I am implied to be pushing it, I seem incorporeal.

A white moth seems to fly from the front of the shopping cart. It rises in the air about three feet in front of the shopping cart before I awake with a lighter hypnopompic kick.

This dream is a typical though interesting example of the type in which the symbolism and its inherent meaning is solely premonitory of the hypnopompic kick during the waking transition, and as such, is unrelated to waking life or so-called “interpretation”. Self-contained biologically premonitory dreams of this common type often utilize a flight symbol as here. This is because of the nature of inner ear dynamics and the ascending reticular activating system. (When one is unconscious, one does not usually viably perceive one’s real physical body, which often creates a sense of floating, falling, or associations with flight.)

The parking lot represents the transitional state between dreaming and waking and is usually unrelated to conscious self factors.

The white moth, inherently a natural biological symbol rather than an “interpretable” feature, relates to the circadian rhythms of the sleep cycle in three different ways. One, its whiteness is associated with the moon and sleeping at night (especially as it is airborne as an analogy to the moon being in the sky). Two, its nocturnal nature (most moths, but not all, are nocturnal) is also relevant to sleeping at night and being in the dream state during a specific time in the sleep cycle. Three, the flight symbol aspect has already been explained in the third paragraph above. This type of dream occurs at least once during every normal sleeping period (and has for over fifty years), though more often involves walking through a city at night and tripping over the curb and “falling”, also directly biologically premonitory of the hypnopompic kick or waking start, as well as spontaneous muscle tension and release, and unrelated to real life.

As fully explained in numerous past entries, the hypnopompic waking mechanism (waking start) and its biologically premonitory dream-related events leading up to it by way of the waking transition (and the ascending reticular activating system) are more vivid and intense when I have done a lot more walking prior to sleep, which proves that this dream’s symbolism is based on biology and anticipation of waking, not some sort of nebulous occult “symbolism” as found in so-called dream dictionaries or other nonsensical publications.

The shopping cart’s appearance is a literal remnant (though its perceived movement symbolizes the real-time waking shift during unconsciousness), not an “interpretable” feature, similar to a bed as a literal dream state indicator (as is being undressed in public as one does not typically wear clothes to bed), as I had been pushing a shopping cart around for about two hours prior to going to bed. In fact, walking a lot while pushing the shopping cart is why this dream’s symbolism is as it is concerning the specific nature of the hypnopompic waking start and the spontaneous release of muscle tension in unconsciousness.

This dream lacks the personified preconscious common to other dream types. As the hypnopompic waking start is the waking mechanism (and as a result has more energies linked to the physical body), a personified preconscious is not needed to initiate waking (for example, from such as imaginary conflict, perceived “intrusion”, or being chased by the preconscious waking function). Also, when lucid, the dream self obviously takes on more threads of the conscious self identity, thus is already closer to viable consciousness.

This dream renders and utilizes “exit flight waking symbolism” in incidental contrast to “return flight waking symbolism” (both very common types of waking symbolism) as in dreams such as “Kite or Bird? Self-Breaking Window?” from November 9, 2016 (though there are thousands more in my personal database). There seems to be no difference other than the factors of circadian rhythms dynamics, that is, the white moth flying away from me symbolizes associations with nighttime becoming more dominant in my semi-conscious state and the dream self to continue to sleep and experience additional dreams, while in the other dream, the white bird flying towards me is more about the cessation of the dream state (and its coalescence “back” into the unconscious) towards morning, especially regarding the window-breaking symbolism (the increase of neural energies eliminating the illusion of the dream state), the bird related to the “return” of my conscious self identity in that case (and despite the fact that some birds hunt at night, a bird of that appearance is more associated with daytime). Such symbolism has been inherent to my dreaming history since early childhood in the same context but usually with unique scenarios and elements. I am fully familiar with its meaning and virtually infinite variations and have zero interest in the popular fallacy of “interpretation”.

    2. 1/31/14 - groceries barrier

by , 02-01-2014 at 07:44 AM (Leaving the matrix)
I have a cart full to the brim with groceries. I'm standing in front of one of the front entrances to GTA V prison. I know my people are coming after me, so I barricaded the entire entrance with the groceries and with the shopping cart. Some how I have enough and it's completely blocked, but there is a way around and I put it out my head so That they won't think of it. I walk over to the left and decide now is the time for a shower. I get undressed and turn on this random ass shower and take a quick shower. When I'm done I get out and get dressed, and I come to check on the barrier and see my half sister pulling it down and jacking the groceries. I yell at her and she acts like she didn't know it was a bad thing to do. I feel she works with them.
    3. Nov. 19 Dream Journal pt 2: The Board(walk) of the Winds -- The Two Towers

      by , 11-19-2013 at 08:06 PM
This is after I woke up from my first dream. I recited "if it's red, I'm in bed" with great difficulty before simply falling asleep.

I'm walking in a somewhat active park with someone, and we drove my car there. It began pleasantly enough, but then the person I'm with starts to feel not as well. I say something along the lines of "lets go back to my car and turn on the AC"; but instead, like the actions of a rational human being, I put her in a shopping cart and scoot her around. I find this hilarious after I wake up, for very ironic reasons aside from the thought of pushing an unconscious adult around in a cart.

We go to the boardwalk of a pier, which actually reminds me of Navy Pier in Chicago. And, like the real Navy Pier, it was ridonkulously foggy. It is starting to get dark at this time, and the streets lights are starting to turn on. We are heading towards Lake Michigan (or, in the dream, a random ocean), and to my left, I can see a giant, jade-colored tower with golden lights rising out of the fog in the waters. I couldn't see the base of it due to the fog/mist; but the way it is situated, it looks like the fog is some sort of a portal, and the tower is rising out of it since I can see the water line, and it is all clear. (Note: Now that I'm awake, I realize that it is very similar one of my favorite pictures I took of a tower in Chicago, which actually did kind of look like it was rising out of the fog -- hey, an excuse to use the attachment feature! -- though, not at this of an extreme as my dream).

      Hello! I'm New Here-20052011604.jpg
It's the building to the right. God, I love Chicago.
To my right is another giant tower, only this one is more marble white, and, due to its proximity, I can see the base (which featured columns -- lots and lots of columns). It's situated right in front of a grass quad. It's at this time my friend wakes up. I tell her she overheated (not as in a fever, but as in the cooling fans didn't work), and I figured the ocean breeze would help. I guess even Fake Chicago has winds colder than death. There was a Video Game College to our right in front of the white tower, so we decide to go in and visit.

Inside, it is pleasantly lit. It looks like a hotel in terms of hallway/room layout, but the actual rooms feature wooden bunk beds like the dorms I've been in. The guy who greets us is a tubby, modern faux-hippy wearing a green shirt half a size too small, dirty orange hair in white-people dreads, and just-as-dirty-ginger beard (not a missed MILD cue alert for me, by the way: it's a very, very specific red that I'm noticing). The dream fades while the dude talks at me.

The dream picks up again, and I'm back in the same busy park, only I moved backwards in time and it's the afternoon again. I'm next to my car, and it is parked on the street in the same spot as I "knew" from before. In terms of location, if I keep going straight, I'd eventually make it back to the pier again. To my right is a row of dirty apartment buildings; it's similar to the row houses you'd find in San Francisco, only if San Francisco just gave up and started downing whole gallons of ice cream each night.

To my left is a grassy patch, with a large oak tree (the trunk is maybe a 1.5-meters wide) at my 10 'o clock. Just a bit past the tree, but more to my immediate left, is a decently sized park basketball court that features 4-5 rows of bleacher seats and chain-linked fences. Two of my housemates, E and S, are there, but they are complaining about the gutters around the court being overgrown with weeds. So now, in my mind, I make some sort of weird plan to insert a grate through the sewers where the roots are, cement off the opening while leaving a slight opening, then pulling the weeds out as they grow through the limited opening. Somewhere during the planning phase, I somehow actually do it.

The dream fades; and then it gets a bit noteworthy.

I wake up, and but it's not time for me to get out of bed yet, so I just lay there for a bit. I recite my MILD mantra just in case, but I still have the park dream with the basketball court fresh in my mind; so my mind begins to wander a bit about playing basketball. I thought about playing hoops with my friend DR. C!!! (FYI: it is required by law that you tell his name every time due to reasons)... the wicked crossover move I had in middle school... fantasized a bit about what if I was back in high school and I retained all my current abilities... being athletic enough to dunk the ball from the foul line... and suddenly, I wake up again. Apparently, I dozed off while thinking about basketball, only I don't think my stream of thought ever "broke," thus my mind was still busy doing the basketball equivalent of masturbating while my body slept. I'm chalking this up to some sort of WILD, or perhaps a very, very brief step towards LD?

I drift in and out of sleep a little more, but nothing else happened.

    4. Wal-Mart

I am in a Wal-Mart with a friend of mine, shopping for tires and some other auto parts. My friend is in the cart, and I’m pushing him around. We pick up a couple bottles of oil, and then I push the cart down the main pathway past the tire aisle. As I prepare to turn into the tire aisle, I see someone in the aisle that I don’t care to talk to. I skip the aisle and go over by the floor mats to wait for him to leave.

I waste several minutes, and then I walk through a couple of other aisles and see if he is still there. As soon as I pop around the corner, he looks over and sees me, then approaches. I turn around and look at a display end cap that has lug wrenches and other tools on it. He walks up as I pick up a large tire iron, shoot him a nasty look, then turn and walk away. He turns around and goes off somewhere else in the store.
    5. Lucid in the Hood

The dream takes place in a familiar neighborhood. Maybe a reflection of my hometown. Maybe the current city I'm living in. I cannot say for sure. I'm riding in the car with a friend and his sister. Their relationships to me and each other are not concrete and it seems that at certain times during the dream, they assume different roles.

We're riding to nowhere in particular as recklessly as possible. It is exciting at first until the driver starts to run stop signs and red lights and make dangerous turns. I warn him that we were just spotted by a cop and are definitely going to get pulled over. He kicks it into overdrive and I struggle for my seat belt. We make every maneuver possible to evade the cops, pulling a full 180 degree skid. At this point we've lost them and proudly head back home as though we had accomplished our goal for the day.

It feels at though the police are still on our trail. We get out the car, but I notice a squad car speeding down the road from our left. It took me a split second to decide I wanted to create a ramp for him fly off of. It was at this point I realized I was dreaming. I thought hard about what I wanted to create and then quickly turned my head to the right and pointed my finger. A spine ramp was sitting, basking in all its glory, directly where I was pointing my fingers.

At this point, however, the police are no longer a threat and have completely removed themselves from the dream. To be sure I'm dreaming, I perform a quick nose plug reality check. I'm dreaming! In an attempt to solidify myself in the dream, I look around for something to heighten my sensory input. I walk up to a shopping cart sitting in the middle of the road and feeling the heat from the sun on the metal. I had read of someone on the forums licking a brick wall to solidify him/herself in the dream, so I proceeded to lick the handle of the shopping cart. It tasted metallic. I remember my tongue sticking to it briefly. I look around and attempt to take everything in, but I get too excited and the dream fades out.

I'm lying in bed with my eyes still closed. I remember someone on the forums mentioning fading from a lucid dream into sleep paralysis. And though I did not realize it at the time, I feel as though I may have experienced a similar phenomenon if only for a short time. Eventually I became suspicious and questioned reality, plugging my nose. I could breath, but it felt too real. So I sat up, everything still dark, and tried again. Indeed I was dreaming. I lifted the covers off over my head found myself in an extremely distorted, surreal version of my room. I was unable to move effectively. I woke up.
