Apparently, me and my parents were going on a rollercoaster trip across the country. We sat in a Minecraft style cart, and set off along the tracks. I asked my mother how much the trip would cost, and she said "Hmm, well let's see, about a few million pounds". I was shocked - in this dream, we had about 9 million pounds to spare (wtf) but I thought this was a massive waste of money even so. I knew that we had booked some gay singer (Wallace from Scott Pilgrim or something, not that he was a singer), and I heard the music as we rolled along the tracks. Below us were plain green hills, but I saw him standing far below, singing for us, with a crowd around him. I thought how lame the music was, and that it was a waste of money, again. But then something occurred to me. "Rollercoasters... They have big drops as standard. That's not good!" I thought. INTERESTING REALISATION: It seems like I can predict bad things happening in my dreams. I have a sort of basic awareness - "things I don't like happening often do happen if they can, in my dreams". Does that make sense? It's probably because I've had a fair amount of dream experience, so I've become a dream-pessimist. However, I think these things happen because most of the time, I expect them to. Ironically, if I shut up about it and stopped worrying, I would have nothing to worry about. Anyway, my expectations did not fail me. "Oh no!" The coaster dropped down, perfectly in time with the singer's music, oddly. I felt the G-force as though it were real. It was a perfect imitation of real life. I was dropping down, hanging on for dear life, the G-force pulling at my chest and stomach, until the coaster came to a slow. I knew it wasn't over. My vision went suddenly dark, and we dropped again and again. Falling, falling, falling. Eventually, the light returned, and I discovered we were simply rolling alongside mountains! I clung on tightly, thinking about how dangerous the situation was. At last, we lowered slowly to the ground, into some sort of station amidst the green hills. It became apparent to me that it was also a hospital. I was given a long black rubber tube, and somehow it was vital. We were still moving, albeit slower than normal. I had a random fit of rage at the hospital. "I hate them, I hate this place! They ruined my life! Screw you all!" I shouted, and threw the rubber tube down onto the tracks. (I should note that in real life I had an operation last year, and recently I have been a bit worried, because I know I still have a lot of mending to do and I am afraid to do the things I used to, because they might hurt or damage me. However I in no way hate the hospital, if anything I am grateful. Still, mixed feelings often lead to anger in dreams, when our emotional side is stronger than our logical side) I came to my senses as quickly as the rage had begun, and got worried. "I... I need that, don't I?" "Yeah" my Mum replied. "Oh God... I shouldn't have thrown it, what do I do? WHAT DO I DO?" I cried out. For a reason I'm not quite sure of, that tube was very important. So I decided I would jump off the coaster and get it. "I'll jump off and grab it, but how do I get back on? I'll be left behind!" I said, my guilt building up inside me. "Ring this number," my Dad said, and told me some long telephone number. "But that's too long! I won't remember that!" I said. I jumped off the rollercoaster, and started jogging by the side of it. I knew I could outrun it at that point, but it was turning the corner into the straight, and would soon pick up speed. I ran back in the opposite direction for the tube, hoping I would be fast enough. Next thing I know, the scene changes and I'm in the hospital by the station. I was in a relatively small blue-white room. A doctor was just done checking my chest. "OK, next I'll need to check, well, you know," he said. "What, you mean... those things?" I said, motioning downwards. "Yeah, sorry, it's part of procedure." So, I lied down on what looked like a reclined dentist's chair. The scene changed, and I was standing in the room again. I wondered what had happened. It was like he had never mentioned anything of the sort, an alternate reality or something. "OK, so I'll take some scans of your chest, just lie down please," he said calmly. I did as I was asked. Instant scene flip. I was in a different doctor's room, which had walls a slightly subtle shade of red. I was still lying down, in the exact same position as before. There was a different doctor standing over me. "What happened? I was just there... did I go under anaesthetic or something? I don't remember that happening, this isn't right," I said, beginning to doubt the realism of the situation. Then I woke up.
Dream - Lucid I did a guided relaxation track by Kelly Howell right before I fell asleep, and had a very intense, yet extremely happy dream. I felt it was very symbolic. It was New Year's Eve 2010, going into 2011. It was nighttime, just before midnight, maybe an hour or so away. The air was warm, like a summer night. I was with my mom and dad, and was going to get my best friend whom I consider a sister, Mary Katherine (Mk). We were at a house in a cul de sac in our neighborhood, one that was apparently our house in the dream. I had a feeling it was the end of the world, but I wasn't frightened at all. I was anticipatory and excited, yet I had this overwhelming sensation of calm. I went to go pick up Mk, and when we got back to the house, we got out of the car. I told Mk my feeling, and she seemed skeptical. Then, in the sky, I saw a big, circular opening in the clouds, and it was moving around quickly. I understood it to be God. It was kind if like something I saw in a music video once: I told her to look up, and pointed out the hole in the clouds. Mk looked, and immediately said "I know what that is." We rushed over to the front porch, where my parents were. We told them about the phenomenon in the sky. My mom looked up and smiled. My dad scoffed. Even so, I didn't get frustrated or upset with him, because, even though he was skeptical, I knew he would be ok. The winds picked up. It was almost like we were in the vortex of a tornado, but I could see the wind. It was clear, not dusty or dirty. Just clear. I can't explain it better than that. It blew all around us, and more kept coming in waves. Even though we were being hit by this wind, it did not phase us. It wasn't a harsh cold wind either, it was a cool wind that felt like it could blow us off our feet, but we stayed planted to the spot. My dad was getting frustrated, and said, very sarcastically, "Oh right, God is sending mini tornadoes." Then, he dropped a whole bunch of spoons he had been holding, frustrating him even more. My mom said, in her infamous "I'm-annoyed-with-your-father" voice, "Calm down, Brad. You can't be in control of everything, you're not God!" I was smiling. I still had this calm over me, despite my father's frustration and my mother's annoyance at him. I dropped to my knees, and my mom and Mk followed suit. We joined hands. My father still didn't understand what we were doing, and he voiced that. The tornado-like phenomena kept whipping up and blowing at us, but we could not be shaken. ~ I went to an elementary school choir concert. I had to sit by these girls who were talking about "horny sex" (is there any other kind? ). A little boy sat by me and saw I had a box of toys. I offered him a stuffed lion, but he said he was too old for that. He spotted a neon yellow bouncy ball and took that and started playing with it. I was not happy about it, because he kept throwing it around the aisles. I thought he'd get in trouble, in turn, getting me in trouble. He never did though. I feel like I went to the concert a few times in the dream. Then, it turned into some Epic Mickey game, where I had to squirt paint thinner on this boss. We were in some big arena. It switched back and forth from me actually being in the game to me just playing it. The boss could still get me when the game was paused. Then, the boss was some vegetarian black lady, whom I kept trying to distract from trying to kill me by asking her questions about why she was a vegetarian.

★★★☆☆ 01/14/10 She pours cream in her coffee, and I know she's the spy. The woman sips at the drink as she turns and pushes into the crowd of people in the mall. I pull away from a conversation, follow at a distance. I can make out her long black coat, her long curtain of blonde hair. She breaks into a run, and I'm speeding after her. I'm falling behind, reaching out and (force pull) she's flying back into my arms. Hair falls away from her face - the wrong face. A body double. (I'm letting go of the woman, blending into the crowd.) Good. She's going to make it fun. I Spy. Scare Factor: 2. Blondes and coffee seem to be a recurring trope.

Plans: This is the last night for Halo task for full credit on the Lucidity Power Trials Club, and it is my aim to do it with Dakota. Other than that, I will focus on just remembering something. I remembered a dream last night, I want to do it more! More! I am in a place I don't recognize, and I am not lucid at the time. I look around to see where I am, and I see that it is winter, the ground is covered in snow, and I am a bit chilly. I think I'm doing quite well to be out in that weather and only be slightly chilly, but that might not last. I wish I had a jacket of some kind, and I am surprised when one seems to appear from nowhere. I put it on and look around more, I have absolutely no memory of how I came to be here, or even of where here is. I decide to do a nose-pinch RC, and I discover that I am dreaming. I look around the place a bit more now that I am aware I am dreaming. I am in a cold and snowy place at the base of a mountain, there are paths or roads of some kind leading up the mountain, so I head for one of those roads. While I am walking in that direction I am thinking about my goals, about what it is that I want to accomplish in dreams this night. I remember the Halo Warthog mission, so I will try for that. I walk along the base of the mountain looking for a possible place for the Halo mission to start. I see a tunnel leading into the mountain that looks like a place for the mission to start, so I head in that direction. I am thinking another part of the goal is to look for Dakotahnok to see if we can confirm a shared dream. So I am also looking for him as I head to the cave entrance. As soon as I get to the cave I see there is a man in there, he looks like he is waiting for something. I wonder if it could be Dakotahnok… then I realize I have no idea what Dakotahnok looks like! I approach the man and observe his appearance, he has short dark hair, is relatively tall with an average build, but then my attention gets drawn to his shirt… his t-shirt has Dakotahnok's spider avatar on it! He sees me and asks if I am Raven Knight, so I say yes, I ask if he is Dakotahnok… he doesn't answer me, but he looks very happy with the situation and says, "We did it! We did it!" He is very excited at the prospect, I think it is awesome that we made it work. Now if both of us can just remember this… Dakotahnok and I aren't together for long, however, before we head in our own separate ways, as both of us are looking to complete the Halo task for the LPTC and this can't be done in a shared dream due to some people not accepting shared dreams at all, and for the ones that do, it would seem unfair to do a task as a team when everyone else has to do it individually. I tell Dakotahnok to make sure and remember the dream. He comments that I'm the one that has been having recall problems lately, touché… we go our separate ways. I go into the cave, which cuts through an area of the mountain. It looks like the cave was carved through the rock by an intelligent race rather than a natural passage, it also winds around inside the mountain. There seem to be passages heading off to the side of the main passage, but I don't feel there was a need to explore them. There are strange mutant bug like things attacking me, I take a shotgun like weapon from my side and blast them, the blast takes out large groups of them at once. I exit from the passage and find there is a vehicle parked on the other side, there is a voice speaking from somewhere… wtf? It is a female voice, it says to get in the Warthog and go, go, go! Wow… it's like I just stepped into the video game… I jump into the Warthog, and someone else gets in the back… I'm not sure who… or what… he is, he clearly isn't human, but it is just as obvious that he is on my side, so as he takes control of the mounted turret on the back of the Warthog, I floor it and head for the path leading up the side of the mountain. As we are going up the mountain, the path winds around the outside of the mountain, but there are numerous wide places in it where there are structures off to the side. Mutant freaks are coming out of the structures and attacking us, they are swarming all around us, the guy in the back of the Warthog is blasting away at them, taking them down in waves. Some of them are in front of us, the Warthog is able to drive right over them, squish, squish, squish… I drive the Warthog farther up the mountain, it feels like the mountain must be a volcano about to erupt… the whole thing is shaking violently, large boulders are falling from above and crashing down towards the ground. I am driving the Warthog to the left and right to avoid the falling debris… An area of the path collapsed from in front of us, I am barely able to make the Warthog jump over the crevice to the other side… and I see the mountain is definitely a volcano, as there is lava flowing down through the crevice below. Things continue in this manner until we are near the top, where I see there is a space craft hovering a short distance off the mountain. The voice I heard earlier is saying to go for it, jump into the ship, before the entire place blows. I floor the Warthog and make the jump into the waiting landing bay of the ship. It is briefly dark in the landing bay before the interior lights come on, revealing that the Warthog has wrecked at the far end, the big guy from the back has been thrown off to the other side of the landing bay, and I am on my ass near a pile of cargo crates. I go to check on the big guy, and I find he appears to be alive, just unconscious. Well, that's good. I figure the dream task is over, so I am ready to wake up… when there is an attack! One of those mutant freaks is attacking, throwing off those strange bug things, it is really quite gross. It looks like one of the enemies off of the Silent Hill games. I remember I have to use Halo weapons, so I don't activate my Witchblade, instead look around and spot a plasma sword that the big guy seems to have dropped when the Warthog wrecked. That is a pretty cool weapon, though, it cuts through and toasts the bug things on contact. I fight against the creature, climbing up on some of the cargo crates to get away from its attacks, then I jump down from the crates and attack the thing from above, slicing it nearly in half from top to bottom. The thing was UGLY! I'm not sure what it is… just that it is dead. More of the bug things crawl out of it, so I kill those, and once that is done I wake up.
There was some sort of underground community, a real small one, and they had created these robots or something. For some reason they had a problem with what they had created, they were being terrorized or something. I brought up the point that perhaps these people were in fact robots themselves and just pretending, and ruling over the others because they thought they ad the right. There was this one robot that was alive for like 35 or 350 years, it was saying how its existence was far too long, and that it had nothing to do anymore or something. At one point me and some other people broke into the tree village place where the robots were (They lived all around where the small community was) A giant gorilla was there, it was one of the robots and it was attacking us, so we fought back, throwing bottles at it and stuff, someone had a shotgun and shot it. I got the shotgun at some point and it sometimes wouldnt reload properly, I mainly just shot at the wall and stuff, by the time I got it the place was cleared and there was no threats. There was a window I was thinking someone might get thrown out of. it was green all around, the house was made of wood logs and stuff.
I woke from a non-lucid dream, and tried to go back to sleep. I did so and became instantly lucid. I examined my hands, rubbed them together and said, "Stabilize lucidity NOW!" and "I am lucid, the world is vivid." I didn't yell it (until later). It seemed to work. I walked out of the room I was in, along the corridors, and realized a horde of zombies was coming at me from across the hallway. With a sweep of my hand I said, "Make this place a nice place." Everything turned nice - the grey/crimson-ish walls became green and pink, even though the zombie-turned-nice-people were still hunched and going "Groar". I turned and walked away, looked at my hands and YELLED, "Stabilize lucidity now - I mean NOW!" I remember worrying if I was actually yelling this while sleeping, and if my parents could hear me. I remember someone in a red shirt, then the dream began to close in. I tried to see my hands, but it was darkness coming from the top and bottom of my vision. I lost lucidity but I struggled and it came back. I went down to the lobby of the hotel. Sex with Syn in mind, I told myself to go to a beach, and fell backwards while imagining a beach dreamscape. But when I hit the floor, a blue error screen with the black pixelated words "The Rev wants you to end this" appeared. I got up, and the black hotel lobby guy also told me it was time to end. I was shocked and ran out of the lobby into a skiing place. I ran around the hills yelling, "The Rev! Where are you?" Then I saw, at the front gate, my classmates and strangers surrounding the squirrel in a carriage that I knew was the Rev's reincarnation (from the previous dream). A stranger said, "Don't move!", but I think we let him escape. Later I walked up a hill to an exit of the ski park with Victor and a Nathan-like guide, telling them about what had happened. On my way I saw a suspicious-looking guy in a red shirt whose head looked like it was cut out of cardboard. Nathan said that on his way here there was also someone who told him he should "start over". He shrugged. Then I had a false awakening in the hotel room where the dream had started. I remember picking up my dream journal and seeing it shared with my math notebook. There were so many interjected math notes between the dreams that I tried to find a new DJ. Then I actually woke up and realized I didn't share my DJ with any other notebook.

I was at, once again, my old farm where I grew up called Talla Bena. The dream was very hazy, as I don't have very great dream recalling skills. Me and my grandma were inside and heard sirens, so we went out into the fornt yard to investigate. All i remembered from that part were some giant police cars roaming around the yard. Later, we went out the back door and saw more enourmous police cars. They had no driver, and one veered off to come over towards us. We asked the car what was going on, but it ignored us and turned away. The scene changed, I was in an area similar to the place where the National Quidditch tournaments are held in harry Potter. It was a slightly cleared area of woods, and there were some tents around us with people coming in and out, holding drinks. My big sister was with me, and so was my mom, although I didn't see either of them until later, I just knew they were there, maybe heard their voice. Somehow i know my sister is pregnant. (She already has a baby and is not currently pregnant again) A shifty looking man in his early 60s slithers over. he is thin and wiry and has lots of facial hair. He asks if we want to buy some fireworks. We decline and he moves on. The scene shifts to where I am walking through a similar place with just my sister. i feel very calm and warm because even though we used to despise each other, now we love each other loads. We are talking about something pleasant and then a red bowling ball with a trailing ribbon rolls out of the trail ahead. It stops, leaving a long strand of ribbon behind it. More roll out, crisscrossing all over the ground. The shady man comes out again and yanks on a ribbon, and the whole network erects itself into a canopy. All of a sudden there are pounds and pounds of fireworks inside of the open thing, laying all over the ground. I walk forward, stepping on them, to examine them. They are all different shapes and colors, a bronze fleur de lis sticks out in my head. The man gets all up in my grill and I decline again. I am now in the car again with my sister, riding shotgun, going over the Causeway bridge. Once again, I felt welcome and cozy with her. Then I have a sudden image of a silhouette of myself jumping in the air and clicking my heels in front of a window. The window doesnt have scenery outside, it has graduated red to blue, with white dots in between. Now I am in a huge commercial building with my father. There are about 438474099 escalators in every direction, and as many people. I suddenly am lucid. I don't feel the dream is too stable, though, so I make the best of my surroundings and start jumping off of the escalators and floating down. unfortunatly I feel myself waking up because my eyesight is suddenly blinded by light, I can see the dream fading. Then it quits, and with quickly fading lucidity, I realize I must get back to my dad. I look around and find him a few escalators away. There is a line of escalator people blocking my way, but kindly, this rather large young boy steps aside so I can jump down and see my dad. Then I am on my grandmas bed....Sketching pictures of my vagina. Not in a weird, sexual way, but it was actually because I had wanted to draw the human body more often earlier that day. (im not very good at drawing people) I guess that some how worked its way into my dreams. Surprisingly, the pictures were very good. O_O Then I was in class, and my science partner claimed she was pregnant.
I was sitting in my living room, already lucid, when i decided to walk upstairs. I walked into my parents room and sat on the bed. I noticed the bathroom door was open and i looked inside and remembered that there was a mirror right as you walk in. I look in the mirror and saw my reflection for a split second, looking just like me, but then it looked surprised/scared and quickly dashed away. I ducked down so that i couldn't see myself anymore, and then looked back. The same thing happened. I thought, "huh, this is wierd" so i walked up to the mirror. When i got close, my reflection jumped back up at me, and scared me! I stood there looking in the mirror for a minute or so, and it started to act like my reflection again, doing everything i did. But then, it suddenly jumped out of the mirror! Then, it borke the window in the bathroom and jumped outside to what seemed to be a party with people swimming in our pool and standing around drinking and talking. It ran off into the woods and nobody even noticed. I was so confused and I tried to figure it out, but i had woken up. Just in time, my alarm was about to go off in 5 minutes anyway
Date: 15/1/11 Lucid Non-Lucid I don't even wake up when I set my alarm to go off in the middle of the night - I sleep too deeply!!! ---------- I was in a big office building. I think that I was a journalist or something like that. Work was just ending and as I walked out, down the big steps that led up to the building. The mail man was walking up the steps yelling something that indicated the mail he had was mine. For a brief second I wondered why they yelled it out as they walked and was on the brink of becoming lucid but then dismissed the thought entirely I received a package though and then another boy about my age was coming up the steps. "Oh, good, you got it," he said, "Could you deliver that for me?" I nodded and kept going, thinking that it was a gift and that he had a crush on me. (???) Jessie, Vivian and I rollerbladed home but I kept falling over and having trouble getting back up. Finally, when we reached the top of the hill I read the label and it said 'Chuck Rosemary'. I thought about that for a while and then realised that it was for my Great Aunt who was staying there with me (I was located in Nambucca Heads). I was quite disappointed that it wasn't for me but I went and delivered it to Rosemary anyway. Then I returned to my Grandmother's little cottage. My sister was there as well. "So, what are we having for dinner?" my Grandmother asked me and Laura. "How about pizza?" I suggested. "Good idea, d'you know how to order it?" my Grandmother asked. "Not really... I'll go ask my Dad!" I said and ran over to the caravan. No one was there but I ran into my dad on the way back. "How do we order pizza?" I asked. "What do you mean? The same way we always order pizza!" Suddenly I had a vision of walking up to the kiosk and ordering pizza. "Oh! I remember now, thanks!" ---------- This dream was probably influenced by the floods here in South Queensland O_o I was standing in a desert sort of area lined with cars. I was there with a group of people I know. Jessie, Vivian and some guy I didn't know ran towards a car and hopped in the trunk as the floodwaters suddenly came and became knee deep. They closed the trunk but I could see through it and saw them saying, "1,2,3 kick!" and they kicked the boot open. They did it again but the water went over the top of the boot and they coudn't kick it open on their first kick but it worked ontheir second. "Why are you guys doing that?! You could be killed!" I said. We crossed over to the other side and the flood waters seemed to disappear without me noticing. Over the other side though we saw two massive waves coming from opposite sides aboutto converge. Some people screamed and I held my breath. The waves didn't come together though, it was like they were moving in slwo motion. I let out a nervous laugh. "Come on, our only chance is if we jump onto those ones!" Jessie shouted and pointed at the waves. They were no longer waves of water but they were actually waves of earth now, so they could be jumped on. We ran towards them and were about to jump on one when suddenly everything calmed down andn all the waves disappeared. There was a group of cowboy like people who looked like bad guys from a western movie standing there. Everybody sat down in front of the men but they disappeared. One of my friends, Grace was there but a teacher led them away. I quickly ran into a nearby shop that hadn't been there just a moment ago. "Have you got any suspects?" I asked. "I found this," he held up something that looked a bit like a key and had a number on it. "Have you found what it goes with?" I asked. "I think so," he said. He pulled out a suitcase and opened it. It was empty but had felt lining. He put the key in it and looked at it. "It fits!" he said triumphantly. I couldn't exactly see how it did fit but I was overjoyed nonetheless. "Who's is it?" I asked. He pointed out a name on the top. It said '_______ Yakamoto'. (I don't remember the first name). I thought that it might have been Grace. I grabbed it and headed out the door, and ran after the group of people. I caught up to them down by a creek in the bush. "Grace!" I called. She turned around. "Is this-" I pushed the suitcase towards her. "Oh thanks!" she said and grabbed it. "Yours? Oh good! Because I wasn't sure it was yours because it was Yakamoto and..." I trailed off. ---------- All I remember was needing to go to the toilet and walking into one of the stalls and sitting down and then I went toilet. In the stall next to me was a girl from my school called Amy and her friends were standing outside. I looked at the wall next to me but I suddenly realised how high the wall was. I could see the bottom of her legs and they were really hairy. I was surprised because Amy was one of the popular girls. When I'd finished I pulled my pants up and flushed the toilet but I still felt like I needed to go toilet. But I didn't really want to go again with Amy and her friends right there. I walked out and saw Amy's friends laughing, one held her shoes in her hands, and they were made out of paper. I did dream more but I can't remember it The hairy legs things seems to be recurring... maybe it's a dream sign

Just pinch yourself. As a prospect lucid dreamer I find my days becoming full of these Reality checks like this; I look twice at a digital clock to ensure the numbers have not changed to symbols, and the reassurance of a working light switch is enough to send me on my way knowing that what was happening around me was apart of my “reality.” I do these Reality checks in hopes that when I am dreaming I will remember to check for signs of Reality and in doing so realize that I am asleep and everything surrounding me is only a projection of my subconscious. But the questionable “reality” of our dreams raises another question in itself. How do we know what is real and what is false? For dreams feel real when you’re in them, its only when you wake up that you realize something was actually odd. This paper will be an investigation into finding Reality and if one can do so with absolute certainty. When I first began exploring the topic my immediate reaction was one of disbelief. I thought back to the simple act of doing Reality checks and surmised that that was sufficient to determine the validity of the woken state. However on further examination I found the term “Reality check” was in itself and oxymoron. It relied on the assumption that the woken state is in fact Reality, as all checks designed to determine Reality essentially boil down to finding out how much our current state relates to the woken state. Which my preconceptions out of the way I was able to isolate the one process at our dispense for determining what is real: the senses. It seemed the most logical place to start as all Reality checks revolve around the senses and without them there is no other viable method. So I then was able to narrow this essay into a discussion of the validity of the senses. In determining the validity of ones senses it is critical to understand their origin. Each one of the five senses is created through the process of outside stimuli sending signals through the body’s receptors (tongue, eyes, ears, nose, nervous system) that reach the brain cortex which then reproduces a response in a split second which forms one of the five senses. However this process raises the question of the validity of dreams; how is it that in so called “unreality” we can reproduce the senses without outside stimuli? While the stimulus that forms the dream senses seems organic it is actually a reproduction created absent outside influence and transmitted to the brain. In this way one can surmise that one determines real things by he recognition between outside and internal sensory stimuli. This narrows the debate to one question: how do we determine that stimuli are real. The lucid dream experience is best summarized by my friend Jon Sussman who has been a lucid dreamer for most of his life: “Waking up from smelling a rose to the smell of bread cooking in your kitchen is a revelation in and of itself, but shortly afterwards you are still asking yourself if the rose was more real than the bread,” (Jon Sussman). In his experience Sussman has been unable to distinguish between his senses in the dream and the senses of waking consciousness. Through this one is forced to come to the conclusion that the senses cannot determine between dreams and Reality as it is impossible to distinguish senses created though outside and internal stimuli. So what conclusion can we come to? If we cannot determine between dreams and waking consciousness than how do we know that waking consciousness is real and not a series of internal stimuli created by an alternate state? The short answer is that we can’t; at our current level of knowledge our only method of determining reality is by its inter-subjective legitimacy. Thus I propose a redefinition of the word “reality:” reality n. – a state of mind believed to be valid and without fabrication. In arriving at this definition I do not require that waking consciousness is in fact entirely fabricated, just that it is impossible to tell if it is not. As Edgar Allen Poe put it: “All that we see or seem Is but a dream within a dream,” (Poe A Dream Within A Dream). In this way we can hope to approach the world with a thoughtfulness that is not bound by the limitations of woken consciousness, but transcends this state and searches for answers beyond our current comprehension. It is in this way that we are truly able to search for what’s real.
I was on a train with the majority of my family, but I was sitting with my aunt and my cousin. The train stopped at an old fashioned town with strange stores. Everyone got off the train excet my aunt, my cousin, and I. We stayed because the town didn't seem right. It was too creepy. Instead, we explored the train but after a while, seeing as no one was coming back any time soon, we decided to leave the train. We all walked into a building and then into someone's bedroom. It was full of dolls. We sat down at a small table near the center. After we sat down my aunt looked at me and said "Look at the wall behind me." I thought it was strange that she would ask that but I looked none the less. Behind her on the wall was a giant cockroach with wings just crawling up the wall. We tried to kill it but it was very fast and it began attacking us back. Strange things kept happening. The dolls in the room started coming to life and began attacking us as well. In the midst of the madness my aunt got trapped underneath a bed. It took us a while to save her, but we did. After we got her out, I asked one of the dolls why she was alive and she said "Only on the full moon." There were others in the house (my dream became third person; I could see what was going on in other rooms). Apparently they worked there and also changed during the full moon. They were typically deformed people from medieval times but once the full moon came their deformities went away and they turned black and white (like an old film). I suppose they were cursed with eternal life or something. The people who worked there wanted to kill us too. I tried to have my little cousin escape but she was seen and about to be taken by the medieval people when a group of hairless werewolves came to through the window. It was very dramatic. The jumped through with a giant full moon showing behind them. The medieval people were very afraid of these wolves. So, the wolves ended up saving us.
First of all, all of my entries are supposed to say 2011 but I wrote 2010, sorry! -------- My Mum and I were stuck on this cliff kind of thing. There were two sides seperated and a thin bit connecting them in the middle. We were on that bit, our legs hanging over one end, and our faces the other. Below us was another boulder (We were high up, I say boulder because I don't know how else to describe it). I somehow felt like we had been in the situation before. I kept spitting on the boulder below us and somehow writing on it with my mind or something. My mum kept telling me of for doing this but I still did it, one time I nearly spat on her. I started to think I should get down but was a little worried because the boulder curved down so I could easily slip. After a little thinking I was suddenly on the boulder with the show, The Office. Toby did something bad and he got told off, so he kind of ran a little like a little kid. I was now sitting at a table on the boulder with members of The Office and Family Guy writers, Seth MacFarlane and Alec Sulkin. I talked with Seth and everyone else didn't say a word. Mostly we talked about twitter and I was complimenting him and he would joke around.
