    1. The Alien Chase...

      dream : comments : lucid
      21st of June, 2012

My recall's been really bad lately, for some reason. This is a tiny almost lucid I had this morning.

I was with Nooks and some other people in a forested hill area. It was winter and the trees had mostly lost their leaves. I realised that there was a UFO following the people, who began to run away together. I said to Nooks that it would make much more sense if they split up; that way it couldn't follow them both... but it'd be gay as Hell to be the one that it DID follow.

Somehow it came to pass that Nooks and I were the ones that were being followed so we began running through the trees trying to avoid this thing and its spotlight. It was really quite horrifying. We ran for a while trying to lose it and find cover before coming across a river with huge frozen walls.

Like that, but without the glacier on top-just more hill.

Anyway, we tried to hide in the crevices and hoped that the cold water would lower our body temperatures so they couldn't detect us. Nooks started singing at that point though, so I put my hand over her mouth to shut her up. Too late.

Aliens began to abseil out of this thing (it was basically a helicopter, apparently) so we bolted while we had the chance, swimming as hard as we could to reach the bank. We ran like that for some time and eventually found ourselves near people in a large...complex of some sort. Kind of like a school/outdoor shopping mall. I looked back to see the 'alien' (read: random dude) chasing us at like 50km/h so we stepped up the pace and were running absurdly quickly. At that point we were on an indoor oval and began jumping really far to try and escape. I turned to Nooks and said "Don't worry Nooks, this is obviously just a dream now!" and kept jumping, wondering what to do next.

I'd been asleep for a while though so as soon as I realised I was dreaming I woke up.
Should've stabilised or something. Ah well, still appears my dream recognition is improving.

I had another dream about someone standing by a basketball hoop near a street light only it was a women this time. thats all i remember about that one. the next dream I had started I was walking along a dirt road and came upon a farm and they sold animals like a pet store. I remember seeing the gerbil and some mice in a little cage. The next thing I know I have a car and money because I'm going back to this huge open pet store and I stop at the hamsters and buy 2 for my daughter brooke. I remember giving the lady 2 5 dollar bills and that wasnt enough I had to give her 2 more 5 dollar bills and got some change back. Then the next thing I know me and this girl I used to work with are in this car together and she asks me where we are going. I told her we were going into town to get her some stuff.(she was a drug addict irl) she said she didnt need any she wanted me to go smoke some of the stuff she had with her I told her I didnt want to. I remember being worried cuz I didnt want to do any drugs. Then I woke up. Had 1 more dream its was really vivid it was about some girl, I know it was vivid because I could see her brown hair and I could tell she was very pretty but we were just talking for a short time thats all I remember.

    3. Confusing Dream Fragment

      <NON-LUCID DREAM FRAGMENT>
      ______________________________________
Everyone has those confusing dreams or dream fragments.
Today I've had one of those and once again forgot to do a reality check, which is frustrating.
Anyways, i was in Paris or France.
I could tell cause of how the people dressed and the buildings as well. But the confusing part is when i am in the middle of the road and the world starts to tilt sideways and i fall to the very end of the road... which seems to be a wooden hotel room blocking the road, and an open window.
Anyways the road becomes a wall, the hotel room becomes a floor and the window is the hole in the floor and if i fall through that whole, well i fall into space or wherever else.
And there's beds in all hotel rooms right? Well this French mime is sleeping in the bed and is waken up by the chaos. Well he looks at me and -Facepalms-... which is when i start screaming.
now that i think about it, it's a funny dream kind of but still very confusing and weird. Also i remember this guy walking up to me and saying " everything's upside down in Paris" some time in the dream... i think maybe when i was standing in the middle of the road.

    4. Intent in Lucid Dreaming; Break that Dry-Spell, Escape the Technique Rut

      by , 06-21-2012 at 12:39 AM
      COPIED

      Introduction

A warning: this is going to be long. most importantly this is not supposed to be any attack or negative criticism of the hard work that goes into the invention and writing of lucid dreaming techniques and guides

This forum is full of threads started by beginners stating that whatever technique they are using just isn’t working for them. To answer the question of exactly why lucid dreaming is difficult we have to consider that to become lucid you are rebelling against a lifetime of conditioning, and a vast amount of mental information, that has programmed you to be unaware and non-lucid in your dreams. While on a conscious level you may be enthused, excited, and fired up for lucid dreaming on your first night, as far as your unconscious is concerned lucidity is a completely foreign concept. You simply haven’t built the bridges and forged the neural connections in your unconscious that say that you are a lucid dreamer.

While this process can be bypassed to some degree through phenomena of auto and hypnotic suggestion (which are designed to feed information directly into the unconscious mind), for the majority of techniques, and the majority of people, becoming a ‘natural’ lucid dreamer is a matter of time and hard work. Time and work is necessary to replace the neural circuitry of a non-lucid dreamer, some succeed, most fail.

Any technique can yield lucidity on a regular basis, all that matters is mindset

Through experimentation with a wide range of DILD techniques, as well as looking at the effects of beliefs, confidence and intention on lucid dreaming, I have come to the conclusion that:

      either

Any technique has the potential to yield lucid dreaming on a nightly basis over time, all that is important is the dreamer’s mindset and, above all, self-belief

      or

Technique is entirely irrelevant and unnecessary when compared to the importance of the dreamer’s intent and lucid dreaming mindset

To explain why I believe this I’m going to explore the idea of ‘method’. For any lucid dreaming technique to be truly a method it has to be a) valid and b) reliable. No lucid dreaming technique is either of these things. Validity is the degree to which an output is caused by an input, in this case the output is lucidity and the input is any technique (say, ADA). I you practice ADA and you have a lucid dream, was it caused by that technique? You may think so, but the next day you practice ADA and hey wait a second, no lucid dream, what’s going on? You’ve replicated the same input (ADA) and yet the output (lucidity) is different, in other words the technique is not reliable. In a lab if you react oxygen and hydrogen you will always get hydrogen oxide, water. But as we all know from bitter experience, lucid dreaming is nowhere near as clear cut.

      Intention

There must be some other cause, some other variable, outside of the technique that caused lucidity the first time and was absent the second time. Intent. The word intent comes from the Latin root ‘intendere’ which means to ‘stretch toward’ or ‘aim at’. As dreamers we intend, we stretch our will toward the goal of lucidity, a technique is a vehicle for this intent.

Silverbullet has written an excellent (if vague) guide to directing intent towards the goal of lucid dreaming: http://www.dreamviews.com/f12/silver...eaming-117015/, but because he kinda didn’t explain intent too well there was a hostile reaction from some towards what was seen as an attempt to attack the hard work of lucid dreamers out there who had worked to write the various tutorials on the site and so it has slipped into relative obscurity. The message behind it was important, lucid dreaming isn’t about any technique, it’s about you, as an individual.

In the ‘Art of Dreaming’ by Carlos Casteneda Don Juan explains that intent is how ‘sorcerers’ ‘do without doing’. That’s one way of putting it, but I believe intent is the active process by which we form the unconscious mindset, the neural connections, (that I mentioned earlier) of being a lucid dreamer.

Techniques are vehicles for intent, our conscious mind needs to attach our attempts at lucid dreaming to some concrete process in order for our unconscious mind to get on with the important work of intending.

That is why I am not saying to abandon technique or that technique is bad, some people can intend without a technique but the vast majority of us need some vector through which to channel our intent.

What’s important though is that you realise that any technique at all can be this vehicle, all the you need is to realise that it is you doing the lucid dreaming, not the technique. The reason we get stuck in ruts, dry spells, there are a number of reasons that we may not lucid dream on any given night (alcohol, fatigue, stress), but what causes you to become lucid? It’s certainly not 10 RCs each day, it’s how those RCs direct your intention.

Making lucid dreaming about YOU again

Review your early goals, we all make the most ambitious and exciting goals when we first learn of the possibilities of lucid dreaming, recapture that excitement.
Repeat to yourself a simple affirmation, make it present tense and positive, ‘I am a natural lucid dreamer’, really feel the meaning behind the words, so that get that excited feeling in your stomach.
Meditate, meditation is a great tool to connect with your inner mental strength and renewing self-confidence. It can also give you access to states at which your unconscious mind is open to suggestion.

      <NON-LUCID DREAM>
      _________________________
A few days ago i had a series of dreams but i made the mistake of writing only one down, the dream about a Sheriff.
Of course it's way back in time when they used to have shoot outs. It was an old western town with little to no people at all besides The Sheriff and his girlfriend sitting outside a bar talking and smiling then exchanging a kiss. I couldn't hear what they were talking about cause i wasn't a character in the dream, i was only an invisible observer with no body.
The sheriff looks over to these mountains behind the girl he's kissing with a suspicious look on his eyes. Out of nowhere these outlaws start shooting at the Sheriff, probably cause they have beef with him or something.
The Sheriff yells for his girlfriend to run in the bar for safety.
After she runs away the sheriff takes cover and shoots back, he manages to shoot and kill about 2 outlaws, there's only one left. He runs to the mountains and tries to search for the outlaw... but the mountain the outlaw was shooting from was high and steep and very dusty.
( Now is when somehow i see what the sheriff sees, almost like i am the sheriff. )
Anyways the sheriff decides to climb it, but the orange mountain is so dusty and dirt flies everywhere.
but the sheriff closes his eyes so the dust won't blind him.
He finally reaches the top nearly, but he hangs on to the cliff from where the outlaw shot.
He looks up to find the outlaw, dressed in a black cowboy hat, brown vest and blue shirt... staring at him from right above.
The outlaw lowers his gun to the sheriff , the sheriff speechless and paralyzed with fear though his facial expression is emotionless.
The sound of a gun shot and everything goes black.

    6. Regression

      by , 06-20-2012 at 10:44 PM
I knew it was time for a nap so I shut off the game that has been keeping me up at night and laid down on the couch. Everytime I lay down for a nap during the day I'm always reminded of becoming lucid in my sleep. If I keep it up, I could really get the hang of it.

Anyway, I shut my eyes and it really didn't take long before I felt that occasional buzz in my head (you know, that strange vibration as you're falling asleep, usually when your body is falling faster than you).

At first, and since I was intending to lucid dream, I tried to rush it a bit. The hypnogogia was crazy intense. In fact, I'm not sure if what I"ve had before was even hypnogogia before now. I remember seeing skylines and something else I can't recall. I remember something brief about my video game. I was creating a sim but it was so faded, the picture, that I couldn't see it. I began saying to myself that I was lucid and I was dreaming and it did seem to help, but then I said enhance and it acted like it was going to for a second, but it was too soon. I realized it was too soon and that I needed to ride the hypnogogia out a bit longer before I could dream.

I brought myself back to my waking state for a few minutes.

I sort of scolded myself for letting my mind wander to the game. What a waste.

I closed my eyes again and thankfully, within seconds I got the vibrations back quick.

I tried to be more patient the next time. I started to get that hypnogogia back again but then I started hallucinating voices. I was hearing my son and it sounded like he was getting up. I should've known it was my mind tricking me because I forced myself awake to check and see if he was up. (It can be hard to do this kind of thing with a kid in the house, I'm always afraid I won't hear him and something will happen).

Awake again, I assured myself I would hear him if he really got up and closed my eyes again.

This time, I snapped right back into the vibration/hypnogogia state.

I began my mantra again "I am lucid. I am dreaming" and it started sounding like I was whispering into a microphone. It almost sounded like one of those self improvement mp3s with voice suggestion. I kept repeating my mantra.

Then I started to hear a man's voice. I was going through so many thoughts following this point, so I hope this makes sense.

I was still repeating my words, but his voice cut in and said, "Just give me five minutes of your time." My eyes are watering right now because, I don't know, I felt like someone was truly trying to tell me something.

His voice was old and at first, he sounded like Stephen LaBerge, but then I thought maybe, just maybe, this was God. Finally speaking to me.

Right after he spoke and I realized it might be divine, I got images. I can very scarcely remember them, unfortunately, because at the same time I got the pictures, a Tool song started. It was clear as day. Eyes are watering again.

      I was in such shock.

Maynard began to sing. I cannot! For the life! of me! think of what song it was. Maybe it'll come to me later.

The lyrics, of course, were changed though. They were speaking directly to me. He sang maybe two or three verses before I woke up. I heard every word, but I can now only remember two: Regression, and annoying.

I understood it then, and I still feel like I understand it now, but no longer in word form, only the feeling I got from it.

God, I tried so hard to get back there again, but my son DID wake up. And I had gotten too excited that I couldn't fall asleep again.

I remember as the song started that I was thinking, shit, I need to write this down, but I can't leave?! I think that's why I only caught three verses and woke up.

IT was an amazing experience, even as short as it was. This journal entry doesn't even give it justice and I really didn't even want to type it in here, but I felt like I needed to.

From now on, I will take naps during the day as soon as the kid's asleep. If my subconscious is finally going to come forward and talk to me, I need to be there, because I truly am one screwed up little girl in my head...

I had to infiltrate this facility place owned by an evil organisation of scientists, so I did, and i did this by somehow disguising myself as someone by stealing their appearance by somehow killing them. I spent some time wandering around, it was nice, sunny weather. Eventually it turned out the guy I was impostering as was very important, and had his own room! so I when there, but it turned out to be a trap, and the room somehow ended up in space! The leader of the organisation was also there trying to talk to me, but I somehow got outside when I saw an angry Commander Shepard from Mass Effect looking through the window, I went up behind him, did a double thumbs up to the villain, and flew off.

    8. A Distressing Swamp and A Magical Visual Experience

by , 06-20-2012 at 08:48 PM (Dreamsphere (Return to the Chaos))
I am sitting in a sandy swamp area with another man. He is a colleague of mine and we are in silent contemplation. A horrible incident occurred here a short while ago in which two small children were devoured by thousands of rats. The area has since dried up, rendering the landscape quite eerie. We turn to see a woman to our side. She looks at us and her heart drops, only now does she realise that what took place did so in the very place she sat. “I thought this would just be a quiet place to relax” she says apologetically. We both shake our heads, and I offer to walk the girl back. We cross the sandy dunes of the dried up swamp and I can sense the girl scanning the area and envisaging in her mind the events that transpired. She tells me she wants to walk faster. Eventually we get to a jeep. I ask if it’s hers and she answers yes. I climb in and we drive off. The girl is obviously quite shaken by the history of the area, and becomes visibly upset. I try to tell her it is okay and that she came by mistake but she has become rude in her guilt. “Oh it was okay? It was okay was it??” She becomes delirious and my efforts to reassure her are hopeless. I tell her to drop me off and that I will walk back.

I get off and find myself roaming a vast dessert filled with fascinatingly shaped mountains and rocks. As I explore further I see that these formations are a complex series of geometric patterns, manifested as sets of never-ending clusters within clusters. My view of the world shifts and I see that I am actually indoors. I am a tuxedo-wearing Bryan Cranston and I am in a huge room with walls lined by hundreds of large screens, all showing the same images of the sand formations. I am the creator and controller of this incredible room, however I am currently under a great deal of stress. The android I created to act as my assistant has left me, and I find that in my anger I am quickly losing my mind. I rampage through the area, exclaiming aloud my bewilderment that anyone would want to leave. I see my former assistant through a window, and become furious when I find that he is taunting me. I soon notice something though. With each movement I make, the images on the screens distort themselves in wonderful ways. This is a new development and I consider it to be an amazing one. I run around, throwing myself left and right, watching as the sand formations on the screen spiral in response to my every move. They retract when I lean towards them, and expand when I lean back. I fling myself into the air, swing on poles and run up the spiral staircase marvelling at the greatest visual experience I have ever witnessed. Soon the screens depict a vortex of colour, pulsating and vibrant. I lie on the ground, overwhelmed.

    9. Disaster to Weird House. June 20th 2012.

by , 06-20-2012 at 08:13 PM (Dream Journal)
      Awake|Dreaming|Lucid

4 days after my Lucid, I have managed to recall a clear, vivid dream. Quite an odd dream to say the least.

I was in a hospital car parking lot with a bunch of random dream characters. I then sat in a car with the door open. I either sat on the seat or put my leg inside. Then out of fucking nowhere, this crazy guy runs out and throws a bucket of angry locusts in the car. I felt the sharpest pain in my legs as if they bit me. I then ran around the car park screaming and shouting "I have a disease!" I ran back to where the car was and realised it was 1pm and the disasters are calm at that time. I had no idea where I got the idea of disasters, but there were lots of them. I walked out of the parking lot and began walking up the road. My step brother was ahead of me. I turned to the left and noticed a huge crack following us up the road. I looked back and saw that it was on the path that we were on, so we went full out and ran for our lives. I tried to avoid falling down the small holes that were appearing under our feet, although they were about 3cms deep. After about 20 seconds of running, I found myself at a dead end. I turned left and entered a small blue house. There were two ways in the house, upstairs or down a slope. I headed down the slope and saw a woman. She started blabbering on about her daughter going missing and wanted me to find her. She then said the weirdest thing I have ever heard. She said "You can fap fap fap all you want, but for now, just fuck." I gave her a poker face and walked out the front door to the left. I saw a guy stood on a fence with lots of explosive barrels around it. A girl with blue hair (possibly my dream guide?) ran out and the lady smiled. Maybe it was her daughter. The guy seemed happy too, but gave the girl some sort of trial or training. The training was to explode all of the barrels. The girl ran around a circle then came back and punched the barrel. I woke up from the explosion.

Probably the most wtf dream ever. But it's nice to have some recall! I hope to stay awake when I WILD from now on. This dream was a result of waking up at 3:13am then going back to sleep instead of WILDing. Thanks for reading .

I met a blue haired girl twice before. The first can be found here.

      The second here.

    10. June 20 Fragments

      by , 06-20-2012 at 08:12 PM
I know I had two fragments from last night but I can only remember one.

I have a CAP encampment coming up next week so I dreamed I was there. Then I remember my flight sergeant coming and yelling at me because my boots weren't shined. I went and got some polish and then was woken up unexpectedly. (see June 20 Notes)

I had been reading about spuulements and vitamins for dreaming. I decided to try B6 (100 mg) and Magnesium (250 mg). I think they helped make the dream very vivid and thankfully I did not expierence the nightmares that people say comes with it. I will continue on with this for a while just to be safe.

I fell asleep at about 11:15 and tried going into SP. Although many people say it can't be done all of my vivid dreams seem to happen very soon after I fall asleep so I try to enter a dream from sleep anyways.

I had a bunch of vivid dreams my first REM cycle and woke up at about 2:30. I recorded them and attempted a WILD again. This time I felt even closer. My head started vibrating like it was doing a workout and the rest of my body seemed to melt into the bed. I really could only feel my head and was just starting to work on the breathing but I fell asleep. I think if I would of focused on re-entering the dream right then I could of made it.

I was rudely awakened in the middle of my REM cycle by the wind slamming my door shut. It was about 4:45 and I couldn't recall any dreams I was just having besides a couple of fragments.

Woke up at 7:30 and couldn't remember anything else.

    12. The Runaway Train

      by , 06-20-2012 at 08:02 PM
I entered the dream standing at the railyards. I was with some people from school. Anyways, there is an overpass that goes over the train tracks. We climbed up to the top and jumped onto a speeding freight train as it passed under. We were then told that we all had to make it to the engine from the middle where we had jumped on. We all started advancing and eventually made it to the engine. I asked one of my friends why we had to get here and he said I would see in a second. Literally a second later we passed under a low tunnel and one of the guys who didn't quite make it to the engine (which was lower than the coal cars) was... evaporated... you might say. Just went poof. None of us seemed concerned for some reason though and then we recieved a radio transmission through the train's radio. We were told we had to get the train off the tracks and keep it going faster then 56 mph or else, although I'm still not really sure what "or else" was. (kind of like the movie "Speed" if you have seen it I guess) Suddenly all the freight cars derailed and the train was on its own. We went really fast around a corner and the engine derailed as well. Then it kind of converted into a semi. As we careened helplessly through the streets concerned our speed would go below 56 mph we came up with a plan. There were 3 of us. *Don't laugh at this next part, it was just one of those completely random things in a dream. Apparently it is a bad idea to play too much of one game right before bed because our plan involved collecting rings and killing little animal shaped robots. Ya my Steam profile says I played Sonic 4 Ep II from 8:30 - 10:00 last night. I went to bed right after lol. * OK so anyways one guy was responsible for killing the robots before they hit the train and slowed it down. The next guy was responsible for radio communication w/ HQ or whoever the heck told us we needed to stay going that fast anyways. The last guy, me, was responsible for collecting any passing rings and getting at least 50. So we did this for a few minutes and eventually had collected the required amount. "Well, what now?" I said. My firend said we should go ask someone who would know about these things and so we went to the college track. Don't ask me how we got off the train and stuff but we were just there all of a sudden. Anyways, we walked around for a bit to find this professor who supposedly knew what to do. We finally found him and he was wearing some type of Haloween costume. Before we could go ask him though we were back on the train/semi thing. We were now all hopelessly lost because our speed was now 60 mph and we were almost too slow. Then I suddenly remembered what to use the 50 rings for. I said we would just use them to have SuperSonic push the train for us. *thank God I grinded out that last Steam achivement huh?* For some reason this didn't really seem to say "DUDE, YOU ARE DREAMING." Well I guess none of the rest made sense either but ya, should of become lucid right then. Then the dream randomly changed before anything happened.

I was with a bunch of random people and we were all dressed up as Power Rangers. IDK why because I never even watched that show as a kid. Anyways, we were all outside standing in this garden type area discussing the best way to be a 'team leader' (no clue what that was supposed to mean but thats what it was). We tried to wrap up the discussion quickly because at 6:30 all our suits would turn off and that would be catostrophic for some reason. Well, 6:30 came and all the suits turned off. To protest, we all layed on the ground and would not move. Then some very flexible people decided to chop themselves in half to make the protest more dramatic. Good time to become lucid anyone?? People being fine after chopping themselves in half?? After a few minutes of laying on the ground this big vortex thing sucked us all up and the dream changed. After exiting the vortex I was on my front lawn in a conga line with all the people form school. In a firm tone of voice I asked one of the people there if I was dreaming because some things just seemed so wierd. He said no way and any awareness I had vanished as I resumed doing the conga!

    14. The Crazy Old Guy Drives a ... Rocket Car???

      by , 06-20-2012 at 07:57 PM
I can't recall when this dream occurred but it was pretty vivid. Anyways, the first thing I remember was that I was riding in a car with this old guy from the nursing home who I was supposedly to take care of because he couldn't walk or something. Then I remember we went to a lake and launched a boat and began fishing. The boat had an outboard but he insisted we paddle. For an old guy who couldn't walk he sure could paddle the boat fast! I couldn't keep up! As we were going along we beached on a sandbar and he told me to get out and push. I got out and then he jumped out and swam to the shore. (so much for not being able to use his legs) As I went to go see what he was doing I just barely dodged a rocket car / boat thing. And who was driving it?? THE OLD GUY! After I finally made it to shore a carload of girls drove up to ask for the old guy's autograph because apparently he was some famous rocket car driver. I, being stuck having to take care of this crazy old man, had to go and get lemonade and coca-cola for him and his 'friends' to drink. Then I had a bit of deja-vu as he launched another rocket but this time it was actually a rocket. Then it went up a ways, came back down, and I narrowly avoided death again. Then I ended up serving drinks again. Soon after the dream quickly changed to the old guy finally going home. Turns out he was also a boss at driving rocket propelled excavators too and thats what he drove home in.

    15. Going James Bond

Now I was not actually Mr. Bond himself but it was action packed with lots of guns, explosions, and ... um... you know, that other thing James Bond does a lot of. So, we were all hiding out in the basement of this warehouse. Then this lady comes around the corner. (she was on our side though) As she walks towards us she pops two bad guys in the head that are about 100 yards away without even looking AND using a pistol. Then we all ran up the stairs to a bunker type room. Then everyone kind of dissappeared and I was left alone with this chick that was trying to get information out of me. (was I duped by my own side?) Anyways, she was trying to get me to say something (idk what) by doing what she did best. *winks* I held firm though and wouldn't speak. Then she called in reinforcements and i had about 5 girls all doing thier stuff trying to get me to speak. *DISCLAIMER Ya I know this would be the ideal dream for some of you but personally I found it pretty wierd and wish I had become lucid so I could continue on w/ my quest from the last lucid dream* So ya, I held out though and they released me. I was then standing outside my own HQ and the commander guy radioed to us that we all needed to go to our offices. Then we all pulled out computer keyboards, typed in our passwords, and a jetpack came out of the keyboard. We were all headed to a portal thing to take us to our offices and then we were under fire. Someone already at the protal fired back and drove them away. Then they got sucked out of the portal and I jetted back to save them. Then we all made it back safely. We were then talking to this monkey. We could understand it but only if it talked really slow. So, someone built a translator thing so it could talk fast. Then I went out on another mission with the monkey radioing me info. My codename was "Ru 2" and he was "Ru HQ". He asked me for a comm check and then I woke up.
