    1. Exorcism, house elves, living book

      by , 10-18-2013 at 08:50 PM
I'm saying "Amen," the end of an exorcism. I'd been dealing with a demon and got in over my head, and I'm conflicted about whether exorcising it is the right thing to do - seems rude, you can't go around summoning people up and then flipping out at them - but either way it's been kicked out now, laughing as it leaves, which is never a good sign. I float back down the hall to bed, observing the lack of footsteps, and then get into bed, surprising the cat.

(Woke up, about half an hour after going to sleep. The cat had curled up at the foot of the bed while I was asleep.)

A fragment with a character who's king of a small people who don't necessarily want him - he's traveling.

A guy who runs a tavern screwed up a recipe, using potato instead of sweet potato, and his house elf tried to help by offering some spices to cover the taste, so the master blames it all on the house elf, starts yelling at it, then hitting it. I'm seeing this as I'm walking past the door, and I'm thinking that this is a particularly ugly house elf, only one eye and covered in bruises - but then house elves always look a little suspicious. Which makes me think - they're also very traditional, and use the term 'Dark Lord' rather than 'You Know Who,' so I wonder if maybe I could entrust it with a certain thing I need taken care of - but when I start to talk to it, it gets scared and disappears off to wherever it is house elves go.

      (Woke up. Back to sleep.)

Fragment of a scene involving a teenage guy talking to a vampire woman carrying a sword. Now he's home and sitting down on the couch, and the dream switches to 3rd person to focus on his father's husband, who'd been at his desk in the same room but goes to the door now to accept a delivery.

The guy at the door is a friend, or a professional contact anyway, someone who's personally delivering a book he'd requested. It's a living book. His friend delivering it warns him that he'll need it back tomorrow, someone else had reserved it. The man says that's fine, he just needed to speak with her - the spirit in the book - tonight. Although he doesn't say it out loud, there's something going on tomorrow that he's worried about, and he wants to talk it over with her. He's also thinking about a new room that's being built. The man who delivered the book says she's been reading sheet music lately; although he doesn't need to say it out loud, it's an implied request for the guy borrowing the book to provide her with some sheet music when he's done talking with her, as she doesn't like being left alone with nothing to read.

The first of several gods is watching the first humans age, and aging himself to match the oldest of them.

I'm walking past a shrine on a holiday, and hearing kids sing a song that I recognize as being part of a game like tag or hide and seek. There's a cloud of something floating in the air, I can't tell if it's tiny petals or some kind of dust, but it floats through the shrine gate and where it gathers I see a brief image of some great horned creature.

There's some futuristic family watching a concert, wearing shoes that let them fly, but the youngest girl can't get hers to work right, can't sit still, keeps flying off in different directions. Finally her mother catches her and makes her turn the shoes off, angry with her.
    2. Searching for answers

      by , 10-04-2013 at 08:45 AM
So, I figure this the best place to just let it all hang out… By that I mean my confusion on something that has been going on for the majority of my life.

Every year, about this time, I start having these intense dreams. Now, these aren’t normal dreams, more like nightmares.
I have been having them for as long as I can remember which, goes back to at least 4-years-old.

Last night, after falling asleep, I find myself in a house with two other people, their identity I couldn’t tell you who they are but, I felt like I’ve known them my whole life.

Keeping the details to a minimum, because I only remember spurts.

What I do remember is a demon three dolls and feeling like my entire body is experiencing electrical pulses at least two separate occasions this is all happening while my semi-conscious self is fully aware that I am laying in my bed, in my actual house, yet before I awake I am in an attic having a full fledged conversation with a demon and two others with these three dolls illustrating how each of us view this demon’s physical appearance.

Writing this down or even saying it out loud makes me feel crazy. I just find it weird and I figure a blog is the best place to vent this and maybe someone who has the ability to answer what this experience is will respond.

Otherwise, I’ll probably just continue on as normal. At this point in my life this is going on about 20+ years of experiencing these dreams and sensations. So, it’s nothing new I actually worry about the answers I may get. Somethings are better left not knowing.
    3. Babysitting in hell, and the attack on Mordor

      by , 09-27-2013 at 04:59 PM (Mouka's Mind Palace)
      (This is from September 25.)

I was visiting someone's house with my dog, Loki. I think I was helping them with some groceries or something, and it was a very nice brownstone sort of place that you'd see for rent in the better areas of a big city. I entered the place and while I was sitting at the table, a demonic entity appeared. The person I was visiting didn't seem surprised and seemed to know this would happen, she said "Sorry." to me and left the room. The demon looked like a typical classic demon, he had the whole "Greek Pan turned Christian devil" look. He came up to me menacingly and demanded that I give him my dog for sacrifice, to which I said HECK NO (because my dog is awesome cute, I mean just look at her on my DJ page image with her cute lil' sunglasses...) and I offered up myself in place of my dog. He mulled it over for a bit and finally agreed, pointing a finger at me and transporting me to a demonic den. I found myself in some kind of pit, surrounded by human bones and lots of blood splatter. I could hear screams and see fire out in the distance. The demon appeared before me and said the pit I was sitting in was the nursery in hell, where the baby demons were kept, and because I was now his servant I had to constantly keep watch over the little babies. Apparently, I'd been relegated to the position of babysitter. The babies I watched were actually really cute, they were like the little Raphaelite cherubs, except they had bat wings and horns. After a while it got a bit tedious and I knew I couldn't be a babysitter for eternity, so I sneaked out of the pit and entered this portal that took me back to the home I'd been taken from. The person I'd been visiting was there, and she explained she had to offer me and my dog in exchange for her own freedom. But now that I'd gotten free, the demon came back and took her instead.

There was a war going on, against the forces of Mordor, and I was one of the strategical officers behind the scenes in charge of trained battle animals. We had lots of different animals, all in cages waiting to be let out so they could feast on the bad guys of Mordor. I remember a few griffons, some lions and tigers, and some gargoyles. It was my job to know exactly the right moment to let out certain armies of battle animals to do maximum damage to Mordor. Unfortunately, our army was kind of lazy and was taking its time getting ready. We knew the enemy had a weapon that required a few hours to charge but could wipe out the entire world once it fired, but I was the only one who seemed to realize they were charging it and nobody would hurry or listen to me. Suddenly, as our troops began to mobilize, we heard a big booming voice coming from the Eye of Sauron start to count down from 30. I raced to get everyone moving, but it was too late, and when the countdown hit one, a giant wall of fire engulfed the whole world. But when that happened, I didn't die, I woke up and found myself to be a strategical officer for the forces of Mordor instead of the good guys, and realized I was actually a bad guy who just dreamed I was good. I handled the animals for the Mordor side, but they were weak compared to the animals I'd seen in my dream. I let out a tiger, but then a tiger from the forces of good pounced on top of it, five times bigger than it. Then I let out a griffon that had the ability to levitate things, and I remember messing around and getting the griffon to levitate random pieces of paper, trying to buy the good guys more time. One of the commanders got pissed and I jumped on the griffon and flew away.
    4. A tourist group, a TV remote, and some demons posing as nuns

      by , 09-21-2013 at 02:21 PM (Mouka's Mind Palace)
      (This is from September 8.)

I was with a tourist group and we were all at the mall. The group leader was the angry dad from Family Matters (I think his name was Carl?). I suddenly had a craving for soda but the closest machine near us didn't have the kind I wanted, so I secretly separated from the group to find another machine. I wandered into the food court and saw a bar right in the center of the court with a bartender standing there. Then I realized that the bartender was a friend of Cory's, and he looked kind of like Sock from Reaper, but I wasn't sure if he remembered me or not, so I walked by to see if he'd wave at me. It turned out that he did, and he said hello and waved me over so I sat at the bar and talked to him. A little later, Cory came over to see him and I was worried because I knew I was supposed to be with the tourist group and I was certain that Cory would get annoyed at me abandoning them for soda. Instead, he didn't get angry, and we all sat down and chatted. I think somebody else joined us as well.

I accidentally dropped my TV remote off the balcony of my apartment, ten floors up. It landed in the snow among some trees, but the remote was white so it blended in and I was unable to see where it landed. I remember the snow being very vivid, and everywhere. For some reason, I was deathly afraid someone would steal my remote and I ran down there immediately to find it, but I kept getting sidetracked by people standing on the street corner talking to me about their day and stuff. After I broke free from the conversations, I looked around for my remote but I couldn't find it anywhere.

On a beautiful spring day in a public park, I was sitting outside on the grass with a bunch of other people. I think it was some kind of outdoor seminar, because there was a man standing up in front of us talking about different kinds of puzzles and the history of them. We all listened attentively and took notes. He told us a riddle about a man and some trials he went through, and I knew the answer to the riddle, but he kept asking other people if they knew what the answer was and none of them knew it. I was getting annoyed that he refused to call on me. Then he asked two nuns who were sitting next to me. The nuns stood up in front of everyone and started talking in these demonic voices about how the answer was Satan, and how the answer is ALWAYS Satan, and the guy holding the seminar tried to get them to sit down but they kept going on and on. It turned out that they were actually demons posing as nuns. They eventually sat down and the man gave us all scratch lottery tickets. I scratched mine off and saw that I'd won 87 million dollars, but I didn't act excited nor did I freak out, I somehow knew that would happen. I gave everyone in the group a million dollars each, even the satanic nuns, and then went on my way.

    5. Painting visions

      by , 09-11-2013 at 06:10 PM
A voice saying "The demonic lovers, burnt out in the darkness," and an image of same: a beautiful woman, a witch, in profile, breathing out smoke, cigarette holder in her right hand, and as implied by the voice, she looks burnt out. Her left arm is cradling the severed head of a blond man, her husband. It's still alive, and in pain, and can't die. The things they did out of love led to this.

A man I know has come to my apartment to ask for my help. He looks like he needs it - pale, strung out, in a stained and rumpled suit. He wants me to draw or paint my visions, specifically the one I just saw, the witch with the severed head. He's still in the hall, I'm leaning against the door frame with my arms folded, I'm not letting him in because while I'd like to help, I don't believe I can do anything for him. I'm sure I can't paint/draw well enough to capture that image, not the way he needs.

Wrote a fragment down earlier tonight as "Talent, innate vs. developed" - no memory of that dream anymore but seems like a related theme. Other fragments were all very dull - a woman with tiger-striped hair, a game that summons pieces of different cities, walking in the rain and thinking about someone, the word 'mirror' in my notes with no memory of what that was about.
    6. Demonic visions and possession, vampires and sirens and gods

      by , 09-09-2013 at 09:04 PM
A teenage girl who's recently begun to see strange things, people who look different to her than they do to everybody else, demonic, eyes in the wrong places or no mouths, and so on - she's thinking about one man in particular, a mentor or father figure, who now looks inhuman to her. She believes this is a delusion. But she's run across a woman who obliquely refers to herself as inhuman, clearly believing that they're both the same; and the woman goes on to talk about various creatures like them gathering, organized by that particular father figure, and about a 'sister' who that father figure favors, and weighing the pros and cons of killing that 'sister.' It's clear this girl is the 'sister' being talked about, though neither of them realize it.

This conversation had been happening at a food court in an airport while they were both waiting to meet other people, and eventually the girl put her head down on the table, folded her arms for a pillow and took a nap; when she woke up, another person was sitting next to her, a black-haired woman, talking to the first one, and when she sees the girl's waking up she tries to startle her. The girl doesn't get startled. The black-haired woman then says hello in a very odd, drawn-out tone.

(Woke up. That odd, drawn-out tone was the sound of a chainsaw next door. Back to sleep.)

Walking through mountains at night, talking about chocolate, and being followed by Gollum.

Going along with Buffy's friends on some scheme they've come up with, now that she's dead.

A small model of an obelisk, made out of salt.

I'm possessing a young man in college, and I'm doing a terrible job of mimicking his normal behavior, all his housemates suspect something's up with him.

Still in that college setting, a horror movie called 'Mandeathering' is recommended to me - I see a scene involving several creatures in a graveyard, one of them looking like Nosferatu and holding a child in his arms, described as a family that 'feeds on death,' and 'the weak ones' giving in to sadness or despair (though now I can't remember if 'the weak ones' were among the family or the ones they were feeding on). I google the movie, but think the guy recommending it must have gotten the title wrong, because none of the results I'm getting are for a horror movie; the first result is for a dream journal.

      (Woke up. Back to sleep.)

On a ship, looking down at a human-shaped siren standing on an island and the man from my crew who's standing there with her. I'm thinking about going down there myself, but I'm also thinking about past experiences with things that call to you from the water, asking you to leave your ship. Never goes well.

Fragment of one person chasing another on horseback on that same island, something to do with a god.
    7. A nightmare, a pair of Mad Hatters, and Faustian bargains.

      by , 09-02-2013 at 07:08 PM
There's some flyers warning about the invisible people from the community just outside of town, causing trouble. I'm annoyed at the whole us vs. them attitude people always have when they talk about those guys, just going to make things worse between us. But as I walk down towards main street, where a parade is going on, I see a few people from that community outside of town, except they're painted with this strange dark camouflage, makes them look like an oil slick. They're trashing the cars parked along the street. No one else notices. My perspective switches to third person - they're invisible. No one else can see them, the cars seem to just break on their own. Back to my perspective - in the parade, two horses are walking past us, and a camouflaged guy jumps onto one of them and digs his hands into its skull until it cracks and blood runs down. The dream switches to third person, so the guy is invisible, and the dream's focus follows the horse as it rears and falls, and the panicking people around it.

Memory gap, but with the impression that things got increasingly nightmarish from there, a fragment about a cabin with a door leading out onto darkness, until at some point I do the light-of-Apollo trick, thinking that it worked last time I had a nightmare so might as well try it again, and that clears things up, but also wakes me up.

(It had only been half an hour since I went to bed. Back to sleep.)

Fragment: OUAT's Mad Hatter chatting with "Joker," a similar Mad Hatter type character but with a playing card style red-and-black costume.

A man riding in the back of a limo is yelling at his driver to turn around. The driver isn't listening. Finally, the driver does turn the car around, and then stops it - not because of the man's threats, but because they've reached their destination. The man in the back of the limo jumps out of the car, but then realizes he recognizes the place where they've stopped.

He's at the gate to a mansion, a place he's been before. The owner of the mansion is just driving up opposite, and when the owner sees this man standing outside his home, he stops the car and gets out, pissed off. The guy who'd been in the limo has made a few comments in the past about the mansion owner's "perfect wife" which were meant innocently but were taken badly, and also a comment about how he thinks he's going to die in that mansion, which the mansion owner interpreted as an intent to buy/steal that mansion away from him. The owner only recently acquired this mansion, and this wealth.

As he's yelling, I, as a disembodied observer, am noting that he isn't looking good. His eyes are paler, he's looking a little scruffy, and in general, increasingly devil-ish - right on schedule. The rider in the limo certainly thinks of him as the Devil, exactly as we wanted, but the man himself isn't aware of the way he's being manipulated and transformed due to the Faustian bargains he's made, he's completely unaware of any supernatural influence.

A truck driving past crashes into the side of the Devil-figure's car and breaks the mirror. Attention caught, the Devil-in-the-making turns away from the guy with the limo, reaches into the truck and grabs the guy inside - a tall, skinny man with curly red hair, and a strong smell of coal. The cab is littered with cigarette butts and many, many matchbooks from the place where the Devil-figure's wife works.

Fragment: A father paying his daughter to take the boat out at a certain time, the creation of an alibi.
    8. 'And it was better that the beloved behold the tainted cities of Mephisto dreaming.'

      by , 08-25-2013 at 07:30 PM
Napping on the couch during the night: A nightmare of the vague, unseen, menacing, I'd-call-it-demonic-except-the-demons-in-this-dream-are-on-my-side variety starts to take hold. Since I think of this as associated with darkness, I summon 'the golden light of Apollo' which lights me up from inside for a moment and this does the trick, but Amon and the other demons around me look rather hurt/betrayed that I would do such a thing, calling on some light god instead of relying on them.

Fragments from 8 and 10:19 wakeups, having gone to bed at 7 am:

A man with a phobia of the upper class he's trying to join; the name Benjamin.

An immortal man offering another a light for his cigarette and saying "Here. Rachel's mother couldn't stand (this brand), could she? Now it's the scent of (a three-syllable name of a town in China, a place associated with another woman)."

My new wife, Julia, has drawn me away from my potion-brewing for the night, and as I carry her up the tower steps to her bedroom, she quotes, "And it was better that the beloved behold the tainted cities of Mephisto dreaming."

(Woke up at 10:19, and shortly afterward my neighbor started to play the drums. After half an hour I called him. Back to bed at 11, though I didn't get back to sleep for at least another 20 minutes.)

I'm riding in a car with my IRL sisters, and I notice that I can see the grand houses we're driving past even though my eyes are closed. I keep them closed for a while to be sure of it. I suspect I'm dreaming. I take out my sketchpad and start drawing what I see with my eyes closed - the inside of the car, I considered drawing the scenery but better to go with something that isn't passing so fast - but I find that although I can see both car interior and sketchpad, my drawing isn't enough to prove anything. We stop at a hotel and I've run out of drawing paper, and I go through an old sketchbook and find it's full of paintings from Shadow Hearts.

Dream briefly switches to Shadow Hearts scenes featuring two Alices, one 'real', the other either dead or the result of time travel shenanigans or a figment of Yuri's mind or some combination of the above. It's this potentially imaginary Alice who more closely resembles the version from the game.

Back to the hotel - my father's current IRL girlfriend comes to the hotel room to tell me to hurry up, Dad's in the car and waiting. I'm surprised since I thought I was the one waiting, all I have to do is stick my sketchpad back in my backpack and I'm good to go - but no, I see my sisters are already at the door too. My bad. I grab my things and go after them -

After I walk through that door there's a memory gap, but I wind up lucid, floating up and down through the levels of the hotel through a convenient octagonal hole in the floors leading up to a skylight. I stop floating around and look for a door to go through to change to a more interesting scene, but as I pass through the door I get a sense of danger, and immediately look for another door. I pass through a series of rooms this way, most of them halls filled with marble statues and skylights or balconies opening onto clear blue skies, but still with that sense of something wrong, until finally I open a door to a public bath filled with attractive people making out with each other. I have no particular desire to join in but it makes for pleasant scenery and the sense of danger is gone, so I strip and get into the water.

I seem to have gotten my timing wrong, most people are getting out of the water and getting dressed, but I'm not bothered by this. The doors on the far side of the baths are so large the view is almost entirely brilliant blue sky. Someone offers me a tab of acid, and I take one and offer one to another before handing the rest back to him, which he's surprised by. I wonder if it'll have any effect in a dream, and as I wonder this I decide to find a robe to put on. I remember the summoning-by-putting-your-hand-behind-you trick and decide to try summoning a robe - which doesn't work, but I walk past a stack of towels, and then a stack of clothes, and this seems to be the dream's response to my request. The clothes are slightly too large for me but I put them on anyway, listening to the conversations around me.

(Woke up just before 12:30. Resigned myself to a bit of sleep deprivation.)
    9. Demons at the festival, my fall, and my subsequent ascension

      by , 08-24-2013 at 04:18 PM (Mouka's Mind Palace)
I had just gotten a new wallet. It was black and white on the outside, but the inside was lined with this silvery fabric that had glitter and holographic rainbow colors all over it. When you opened it up, it unfolded into a big suitcase that could hold notebooks and pencils and such, it was like the TARDIS of wallets. I knew I had classes soon, but I really wanted to get my wallet ready so I could bring it with me, so I sat down and started putting all my schoolbooks and pens and such in it, I remember having some pens with glitter all over them and putting them in because they matched so well. Eventually, I glanced over at the clock and saw I was late for class, so I rushed to school and entered the room with my sparkly new wallet. The classroom was huge, it looked like a plane hangar and had desks set up in rows like normal, however there were hundreds of desks. It was a huge class. The teacher was talking about some kind of math, and I wasn't paying attention because I was organizing my wallet. Then I got my old wallet out and started putting that stuff in my new one as well. The guy next to me whispered and said that somebody was trying to steal my old wallet, so I looked over and sure enough there was another guy reaching for it. I pulled it away and gave him an evil glare. Then the teacher announced we were going on a field trip, but didn't say where, so we all piled onto a big bus and started heading out of Huntsville and down through Arab. The bus didn't have windows, instead it had a long thin open space like those horse trailers have. After a few hours I started to get worried wondering why the trip was taking so long, but suddenly we drove down a dirt road and were at a renaissance festival. The driver said this isn't where we were supposed to be and that we were lost, but he didn't want to ask directions, so he drove around the festival. So we all sat in the bus and admired all the jewelry and things the vendors had for sale as we slowly drove past them. I remember thinking the vendors shouldn't have their booths so close to the dirt road because it would be easy for me to reach out and grab their wares as we drove by. Soon the bus got stuck in the mud and we had to get out, and I was all excited because I loved renaissance festivals. All the other students followed me around because I was the only one who'd ever been to one, so I started showing them around. We walked past vendors and I pointed to the parking lot on the right side, and I pointed to a huge open field on my left side where a bunch of ladies dressed up in renaissance costumes were running around a Maypole doing the ribbon dance.

(Note: I don't know if this was a separate dream or the same one since it takes place at the same renaissance festival, but it feels like it was separate somehow so I'm starting a new paragraph here.)
I was walking around the festival and the ground was getting kind of muddy because it had started to rain. Then a woman who looked like the goddess Cosmos walked past me and around the corner, and I knew she was actually the real Cosmos so I ran after her. However I didn't see her around the corner. Suddenly I heard people screaming so I looked up and saw these demonic monsters flying around and swooping down to kill people, however some of the demons were grabbing people and taking them away. I freaked out, as did everyone else, and started running towards the open field where the Maypole was, but then I fell so I pretended to be dead so they wouldn't take me. I remember feeling gross laying there on the muddy ground and I could feel bugs crawling around me, but I was too terrified to move. I lay there for a while and eventually the demons had taken everyone and had begun going around to the dead bodies and eating them. I knew this was it for me, so I thought of a really bad plan. I decided to get up and go convince the demon leader I was on her side. So I channeled an evil psychopath to help influence me to say the right things, in this case the psychopath was my friend Karr, so the demon leader would think I was sufficiently evil. I went before her, I think her name was Morgana or something with an M, and spoke to her. One of her henchmen, an incubus whose name I don't remember, took a liking to me and vouched for me, and then he bit my lip and licked the blood as some kind of weird blood pact. Morgana sent me back into the festival field to gather up any leftover humans and bring them back to her, where she put them in one of two dungeons that were attached to the fake wooden festival castles. I knew the demons would eat them, but I was being selfish and looking out for myself so I led all the stragglers to the prisons. I felt worse and worse for what I had done, so I decided to defy the demons and break the humans free, even if it meant I'd die. Then Cosmos appeared and we organized a prison break, she would lead out one prison and I would lead out the other. The next thing you know, Cosmos and I were running for the festival gates with about a hundred freed people following us. Morgana was furious, and started to flood the field. The field itself was in a sort of basin so we knew if we didn't get to the top of the basin where the parking lot was, we would all drown. We escaped the field just as it started to flood too high, but the incubus who vouched for me was throwing fireballs at us. Past the parking lot, I saw two trees and I knew if I reached those trees we would be safe for some reason. We got to the trees and ran between them, and then we stopped running. The trees were no longer trees, they were two white marble columns, and we were in this beautiful marble palace. Ahead of us, it was open to the outside, and overlooked a landscape of clouds that were beautiful oranges, pinks, and purples, like the sky at sunset, and there were other palaces and things in the distance. Everything was bathed in this nice soft sunlight, but it wasn't harsh and sunny like a bright day, it was just right. I knew it was heaven. Cosmos was gone and there were only about ten people behind me now, but that seemed normal. I was different now, I was hovering a few feet off the ground and wearing a long white robe, and I had white angel wings. The others looked the same as before though, and as I floated through the halls they followed behind me. One asked if I was an angel, and I smiled and nodded. This great awesome feeling of peaceful calm washed over me, as well as this joyous high, and I spun around as I floated along and sung songs. The song I sung was an Enya song, I think it was either Marble Halls or On My Way Home, or a mix of the two. I just remember being so happy and thinking I was home. Then we all stopped as Jesus Himself walked through the hall towards us to greet us. I was so ecstatic I could barely contain myself, and I flew right at Him and jumped in His arms for hugs, and He was happy to have me back as one of His angels again, and I was assured the other humans were also safe.
    10. Demon, father, Tywin and Joffrey

False awakening where I was thinking about what a great dream I'd just had and that I'd have to remember it - I then forgot it, except that it involved a demon, humanoid, sitting at a desk, wearing a scarf and hat and heavy coat to disguise his features, although his scarf's lowered so his clearly-not-human face is visible right now, rather amiable.

Dream continued from that false awakening with a trying-to-accomplish-a-simple-task-but-things-keep-going-wrong storyline, mostly in IRL settings - first about trying to record that demon dream, then briefly about trying to get some work done, then about me and my IRL father trying to meet up.

Trying to make some deal with Tywin regarding one of the men working under me, I'm seeing Tywin and Joffrey in the same place for the first time since Joffrey was an infant, and looking at them together, I'm trying to see some sign in Joffrey that he's inherited anything of his grandfather's character. There's nothing in common, except that in this light, they both have a sickly green cast to their skin.
    11. Colin

      by , 08-20-2013 at 09:30 PM
3rd person, following a blond guy named Colin. He's frustrated with his relationship, and as he's lying in bed, he decides to invade the dream of an ex-boyfriend. The ex, a kind of hippie-looking guy with curly hair, is in another relationship now and doesn't want to cheat, even in a dream, which Colin thinks of as ridiculous but also part of why he's fond of this guy, so he just transforms himself to look like the ex's current boytoy.

But a stray thought about the failed relationships he's had since this guy causes the dream scene to change to show those relationships. (Meaning my dream, not Colin-and-his-ex's dream.) For a while he'd been hooking up with a demon, who was a real sweetheart but they never managed to turn it into anything more serious than occasional hookups. Then for over a year he'd lived with this guy who works at the expat bar, and Colin can't believe he put up with that guy for so long - great lay but massively uncomfortable with witchcraft. He would never even set foot in the basement where Colin worked, and he'd make these 'in the closet' jokes about 'broom closets' and then explain the joke every time, hahah, closet, broom closet, witches, get it - what a douche. Colin thinks he should've done it the other way around - hookups with the bartender, move in with the demon.

    12. Sliding scale of Supernatural morality

      by , 08-18-2013 at 11:25 PM
I'm playing the role of Dean, and I'm tired of listening to the way the demon wearing our father's face is talking about Sammy. The Fallen, the man in the white suit - that's really the way you things see him, isn't it. That's not him. That was never him.

Different time, same character, similar rant about morality and our role in the world. Except this time I seem to have worked myself around to the opposite point, that by trying to destroy monsters we've become monstrous ourselves, and I'm tired and bitter and when I'm done talking Cas says with this look of revelation, "damn, we are evil!" He's laughing, and I agree. "Yeah, Cas. You too." And I shoot him. That's been a long time coming. The guy we'd been hunting down escaped during this, but he's arrested by the cops outside. Julia's tied to the chair where he left her, and I look at her and wonder if we can still separate her from the evil thing possessing her - I think of it as a part of her.

Earlier dreams and fragments: attempting to get to a Halloween event and running into one problem after another, with a few IRL people and places appearing; and a protest or strike at a memorial service.
    13. Elinar

      by , 08-15-2013 at 11:43 PM
3rd person. Some centuries ago this guy's life was ruined by getting mixed up with a demonic creature using the name Elinar, which looks vaguely like a rabbit. (Or possibly Elihar. Can't read my own writing.) Now he's working together with a witch, and when he visits her in her workshop for the first time, he finds Elinar there, serving as her familiar. Up until this moment neither he nor the witch had been aware of the other's connection to Elinar, and now a lot of the 'coincidences' that led them to work together are starting to look suspicious.

Fragments from earlier: A woman pretending to be blind is followed by men in black suits, who aren't aware she can see them. A musician reminisces about the time about a hundred years ago when he'd played for a town that had never heard of alcohol, and found the place surprisingly refreshing.

    14. Games of thrones

      by , 08-11-2013 at 08:48 PM
3rd person. Kimahri's become a leader of his people, but he's having trouble. There's someone who's not considered very trustworthy, and he gave this guy a chance to prove himself, letting him broker a deal with an outsider for a very important supply. But there have been delays, and the people are beginning to worry that this guy isn't going to come through for them. They're having something like an informal town meeting, arguing about it, and the guy who brokered the deal is insisting that things will work out if they just wait.

1st person, I've struck a deal with someone whose face I never saw, only heard his voice. He sends me to sow something he designed in the cracks of the border between two countries. Greenery grows from the cracks and spreads into the neighboring countries, and it looks beautiful, peaceful, so no one will recognize it as a threat until it's too late. I see the landscape as if on a map, watching the borders shift in a chain reaction, watching control of land flip from one country to another, sending ripples through the ground under my feet, and I can hear that guy who designed all this, now telling me to watch, to learn how this works and to use it myself, but I already know how it works and all I want is to get as far away from the shifting borders as I can. When I get far enough from the conflict to get a clear look around, I can see the country I sabotaged is now completely surrounded, about to be destroyed. I head north, as far as I can get.

3rd person. Sansa Stark's come back to the north, as far north as it's possible to go before the Wall, and she's sneaking into a hidden tunnel leading to a tomb. She pays her respects and then leaves the tomb to wait in the tunnels, and one by one her brothers arrive - first Rob, then Jon Snow, then Bran (who is walking, and was never crippled in the first place). They're all glad to see each other of course, but Bran's the one they've been waiting for, the one who made a deal with the demon Cassux on behalf of their family. (Cassux - when I wrote this down it struck me that's probably a contraction of Castor and Pollux.)

Scene changes to a flashback: the recently orphaned Stark children 'captured' Tyrion (he probably could have left at any time if he'd cared to make the effort) and 'interrogated' him (nothing unpleasant, more of a casual conversation really). He's wearing a lion-fur cloak, and he's saying, "not such a bad thing, the Old Ways, not having to work so hard for everything." During a time of desperation for the Lannisters, he'd discovered the demon Cassux in his books and made a deal on his family's behalf, and because of that, everything in Westeros has changed.

    15. Chiron

      by , 08-10-2013 at 10:32 PM
I'm drinking with a dead soldier from ancient Greece, and we started out talking about Dionysus and Hades but we've gotten around to talking about Chiron in comparison to Buer, and he complains to me that Chiron's been greatly misrepresented, which he blames on a line in Homer that people take out of context. He says that Homer had some nerve to characterize the guy as overly fastidious while he was killing everything "from here to Salamacia" - meaning some campaign they'd been on together, and I see the soldier's memory of Chiron washing the blood and dirt off in a river, stripped to the waist and with so much blood on his hands it looks nearly black. He's human; extraordinarily tall, but human.
