    1. The End Cave

      by , 06-02-2015 at 04:21 PM (Death's Other Kingdom)
I didn't meant to be gone for so long, but life hit me really hard toward the end of last summer and I was therefore already behind when school had started back up. I think things are finally at a point now where I can focus on dreaming again.

      The End Cave (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I'm in an incredibly large cave, though it does not look like one, camping with my mom, brother, and Cheyenne. There is a wide, rushing river cutting through the middle, with a forest on the side opposite from us. Near the forest is another family of campers. There is something terribly, terribly wrong with this cave.

Cheyenne wakes up frantic in the middle of the night from a bad dream. In the dream, she saw Jesus standing on the other side of the river. He had no eyeballs and he was drowning little children in the river, one by one, like some perverse baptism.

I decide that we need to leave this cave immediately. There is a terrible, heavy feeling in the air, practically suffocating in its intensity. We should not be here. We all run back outside through the small entrance. It feels so good to breathe outside air again! Outside, everything feels normal and calm once more. Unfortunately we've left all our belongings inside and my mom insists that we go back to get them.

The sickening feeling returns at once upon our entrance. I feel physically ill, with an almost unbearable dread of some great unknown. I'm having to support Cheyenne to keep her from falling; she's barely conscious and not responsive. Just as we gather our things, a great howling comes to us from the other side of the river. A pack of coyotes emerge from the forest, though they appear as large as wolves.

Half the pack surrounds the family on the other side of the river, the other half crosses over to us. We run, and despite my assurance that coyotes don't harm people, they begin to attack. I am bitten numerous times as I fight them back from the entrance while the others do everything they can to block it off. The entire time we can hear the other family's screams of agony as they are eaten alive by the pack.

      Vengeance (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

My aunt has, for some reason, invited Cheyenne's insane parents into my mom's house while I am house-sitting. "My mom is going to be *furious* when she finds out about this," I growl to my aunt, wondering what could have possessed her to make such an awful decision. I go inside to investigate. Much to my horror, the couple are standing in the middle of the kitchen having sex. Disgusted, I run back outside.

"We're going to have to make them leave," I tell my aunt. Things get a bit more disturbing before I'm finally able to talk to Bob to ask him to leave. "It's time for you to go home now," I tell him firmly. He glares at me.

"Not until I speak to my daughter," he says.

"If you don't leave, I'm calling the cops."

He begins cursing at me, demanding to see his daughter. He accidentally calls me Cheyenne--- I assume from the familiarity of talking to her in this way. Now I'm pissed. "I'm not your f***ing daughter!" I growl furiously.

He grabs me by my throat and starts to strangle me. I hear my aunt protesting, but she does nothing to help. Completely infuriated, I punch the man in the throat--- when he lets go of me, leaning forward and spluttering, I send an elbow down into his back, knee him in the face, then shove him to the floor where I proceed to stomp---hard--- onto his junk seven or eight times before stomping on his head and knocking him unconscious.

My aunt and Cheyenne's mom stand there staring at me, stunned. I glare at them. "Is anyone going to call the police, or do I have to do that, too?"

The Devil and The Ring (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

After much nonsense that I'm not going to copy over, I end up in a house with my two young cousins. They want me to go dancing with them at some party, but I dislike such situations. Still, they beg me to go. I look in the mirror and notice that my hair has changed color and style--- it is a bit shaggier, colored black in the front and blonde in the back and lower layers. I look like a rocker chick. Maybe with this cool hairstyle, I'll feel better about going dancing. I reluctantly agree to go with my cousins to what ever party they're going on about.

On the way there, they start questioning me about my jewelry. I think they're referring to my pentacle, which I show them. I accidentally refer to it as a ring instead of a necklace. "THAT'S the ring you brought with you?" they ask. They sound almost angry for some reason.

"Oh, no. I meant this is my necklace. These are my rings," I hold up my hands to show them my high school and college rings. The girls instantly try to take them from me--- I close my hands into fists to stop them. "Not even the Devil can have my ring," I joke (referring to an old dream where the Devil insistantly tried to steal my high school ring for it's magical properties. I say this often in real life as a kind of inside joke with myself.) However, as I notice the sinister smiles appear on my "cousin's" faces, I
suddenly realize that they are indeed demons in disguise, after my rings. I'm in a low-level stage of lucidity at this point.

Knowing that I'm onto them, the two girls suddenly transform into succubi, joined by a third succubus who had been watching from afar. They are planning to take me somewhere, where their master awaits my rings. However, I use their own tactics against them and manage to make them forget all about my rings....

I "wake up" in the middle of the street. My brother and grandmother are standing over me, chastizing me about things I was apparently doing in my sleep. Their ranting is interrupted when a vicious growl rips through the air. I turn to see a dog--- or what was once a dog. It looks as though it has stepped directly out from Silent Hill. The rest of the dream is a confused blur of running from and fighting these dog creatures.

      Giant Slayers (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I seem to once again be in high school, riding the bus back home. The driver gives all the students some kind of trivia assignment to be completed before leaving the bus. I have a book of facts with me that I'm using to complete the assignment. I briefly wake up as I complain (out loud) about how unfair it is to have homework on the bus.

I re-enter the dream. Now I'm hanging out at my mom's house with one of the girls from the bus. She has a tattoo on her cheek. I look in the mirror, noticing that my hair is long again. When I touch it, however, it still feels short. "Why does the mirror say my hair is long when it's not?" I ask the girl, confused. She tells me that it IS long. This is when I take note of my stupidity and realize that
      I must be dreaming.

"Oh, I get it," I tell her. "I'm dreaming." The girl gives me a doubtful look. "This is all just a dream. I can prove it to you. What should I do to prove it?"

She points to a guitar behind me. "Can you play?"

I look at the guitar skeptically, thinking of how musically illiterate I am. "No," I answer, "I doubt I can even play that in a dream."

"Try it. I'l only believe you if you can play it.

I pick up the guitar and surprisingly begin playing a really wicked tune. The girl grins, joining me with some sort of electronic instrument that she possesses. We have a really powerful jam session that has both of us really pumped up by the end. We laugh and cheer at our success.

"I guess this really is a dream," the girl relents.

"I guess that means you only exist in my mind," I tell her. "Or maybe we're having the same shared dream. Try to remember this later and let me know on the bus tomorrow if we're really in the same dream." (Clearly since I'm in college now, and I've never actually ever seen this girl, I have no way of knowing for sure.)

We go outside, still discussing the nature of shared dreaming. I lazily levitate down the street. "Where are we going?" my companion asks me.

"Who knows? But where ever we end up, it'll be an adventure," I promise.

Somewhere along the line, we join with two friends, a guy and a girl. I do not know them IRL, but I seem to in the dream. We come upon a beautiful swamp-land area where we decide to explore. I marvel at how real the place is, combined with an undeniable dream haze. "It feels good to travel with a group again," I tell my friends. "Ironic, since I'm called the Loner."

The forest thickens, aand we notice a huge mansion ahead. We walk onto the porch, intending to explore, when a Giant bursts from the woods. She's taller than the house--- the ground shakes with her every step.

She hasn't noticed us yet. There are several large crates on the porch--- I indicate to my friends that we should hide behind them. Before we get a chance, the Giantess looks directly at us, leaning over the bannister to peer down at us with a mighty roar.

"Take cover under the house!" I yell, taking my own advice. The giant crouches down, trying to grab at me from my hiding place. While her face is so low to the ground, I use the opportunity to slash at her. She manages to get away before I do much damage. I yell my plan to the others. Together, with much effort, we manage to get the Giant down on her back. I run towards her with my knife, but she has one of her own. When I hesitate to attack, she impales one of the girls I'm with. I cry out furiously, grabbing the knife from her and stabbing her face over and over again. Her face is a wreck; no longer can I even consider it a face. Blood is everywhere. It smells awful, like this sickly sweet organic matter... It's all over my hands, thick and slippery. I smirk, wondering what the Queen would think of me now.

The Giantess, meanwhile, is still alive. With the help of my friends, I drag her to the nearby river to drown her. All it does is heal her face. >_<
I wake up, heart pounding, the smell of her blood burned into my nostrils.

Yet Another Fight with a Snake Goddess (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This seems to be a recurring theme with me for some reason.

I am in an outdoors setting with my two roomates: Alex and Ninja. A large blue and black feathered snake slithers through the branches above my head, then comes to rest in a coil just in front of me. It regards me maliciously. I can tell it means to strike at any moment, so I scurry back to avoid its (likely venomous) fangs. For some reason, it seems necessary to kill this snake at all costs.

I pull out my large black knife. Alex and I take turns distracting the snake while the other attacks. After we inflict a certain amout of damage, the snake transforms into a dragon/spinx-like goddess. As the goddes has wings, we must now resort to ranged weapons. We throw miniature spears at her, which serves more to fuel her temper than to actually do any damage.

The angered goddess pulls out a dart gun and procedes to fire venomous darts at my companions and I. The darts take out Alex and Ninja, but I fight the effects. "Don't you know I'm the Queen of dreams!?" I shout at her. "Your darts have little effect on me!" I grab some unused darts from her, which are now more like syringes, and inject her with her own venom. Now that she's paralyzed, I somehow manage to weild an axe and chop her to pieces.
    4. Sea Monsters and the Yule Lord

      Mind Over Matter (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

The hood of my special jacket allows me to breathe under water. I go deep under the ocean with my dad to search for a buried treasure that is very important to us. I know that as soon as I begin digging, this infamous sea monster will begin attacking me. The water will make it difficult for me to fight back, so I'm thinking of a proper strategy of defense beforehand. My dad suggests using my telekinesis to kill the creature.

Previously, we had run into trouble because my brother used telekinesis to kill things, which caused dark forces to stir and pursue us. I've never used tk for this purpose and am wary of bringing too much darkness upon myself. Plus, I'm not strong enough to kill the sea monster anyway since I've never used my power in this way before.

My dad instructs me to practice so that I CAN kill it. He throws a black widow spider on me, which I swat off onto the ocean floor before it can bite me. I love spiders, but this one is venomous and is actively attacking me. Left with little choice, I use my telekinesis against the spider. It writhes in pain--- though it takes three tries to kill it. Now I should at least be able to do a bit of damage to the sea monster.

      Krampus (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I am wandering the streets of Mexico dressed as Krampus, the Yule Lord. Everyone is afraid and trying to kill me. They succeed multiple times. Every time I die, I must respawn at the start of the street and try again. Finally, despite a tense moment where I make a little boy cry, I win the trust of his older sister and the people no longer see me as a threat. They give me a necklace of skull beads as a peace offering.

      Intimidation (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I seem to be in a high school gym class with Alex and other random students. We are about to begin a swim lesson. Oddly, we have on regular clothes and are standing at the steps of an empty pool.

While we're waiting on the teacher, a gang of older boys approaches us. They begin aggressively insulting us, to the point that I'm afraid it will get violent. I decide to step in with my own unique intimidation tactic. I take a step toward the guys and begin barking like a rabid dog, setting a crazed look in my eyes. My friends giggle nervously, but the guys take a step back. I continue my crazed barking, practically foaming at the mouth and spewing spit in the leader's face with each angry snarl. The fear in his eyes is perfect.

"Man, we don't want anything to do with you freaks, anyway." The leader scoffs, calling off his gang. As they walk away, I can't resist making one final jab at them.

"Oh, sorry. You guys are so ugly that I must have mistaken you for dogs!"

The boys turn around slowly, dangerously. "Oh, you're gonna pay for that," the leader fumes. He comes at us again, this time brandishing what appears to be a prison shank. Alex and I use our martial arts skills to wrest the shank from him, just as our teacher arrives to send the gang away.

      Land Sharks (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I am at my mom's house with Cheyenne, though no one else is around. We're trying to figure out where everybody is when we hear a huge commotion outside. Looking out, I see two huge construction vehicles completely demolishing the front yard. When I go out to confront them, the vehicles burrow underground and attempt to come up underneath my feet to kill me. I am forced to fly in order to avoid death.

      02.05.2014
      Lost (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I've already missed my first class of the day because I can't find my way out of the college's main building. I'm getting desperate since it's not much longer until my second class is supposed to start.

While wandering, I come upon a party being held in one of the upstairs rooms. I had forgotten that there were supposed to be several parties up here today. This one looks extremely high-class and fancy--- aside from the strippers pole dancing at the corners of the room! My boss and coworker are running the sound system for this party. They seem to be focusing more on the strippers than on their job.

I'm not supposed to be here, so I try to leave without drawing attention to myself. I go out a door, thinking I've finally found the exit. Instead, I come out on the roof. It is a very nice view, but now I am beyond frustrated. "WHY!?" I scream. "Why am I on the roof!?" I hear a girl laughing behind me.

I turn around to see a girl dressed as Sleeping Beauty. She is one of the staff of another party that the school is hosting, which involves fairy tale princesses. "Took a wrong turn?" she asks.

I grin sheepishly. "Yeah. I'm kinda lost."

"Want me to show you the way?"

I think about it, but I'm pretty embarrassed about the situation already. "Nah, I'll find my way out eventually. I should really know my way around my now anyway, since it's my second year here."

She giggles. "Yeah, you really should."

I go back inside and wander into a room that appears to be an occultist bookstore. I never knew this was here! I am about to look around, when I hear the Sleeping Beauty girl behind me. "You're going entirely the wrong way," she teases. "You should go to the north-west wing."

I admit that I have an atrocious sense of direction and have no idea which way northwest is from where we are. "Just follow me!" she insists. I relent, following her though the door that FINALLY takes me outside. We seem to be on the street rather than on campus, however.

Sleeping Beauty is very enthusiastic as we walk, bursting into song and twirling around the sidewalk. I smile, unable to help being smitten by her liveliness.

Suddenly, the scene changes as the dream begins to deteriorate. Sleeping Beauty is narrating a story from her childhood, in which she wants to catch a phoenix to bring an end to the harsh winter. I am shown flashes of a phoenix, then the terrible scene of the girl's frozen corpse nailed to a wooden stake, alone in a blizzard. The last image before I awaken is the face of an evil dragon, mocking the girl's death.

      To Be A Wolf (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I am sitting in the floor beside my roommate's bed. We have both performed some sort of ritual to transform ourselves into otherworldly creatures. Alex is about to become some sort of undead dark lord, while I am going to be a werewolf. We know that the process will be very painful, but we are prepared.

Her transformation begins first. She clutches her arm and screams in agony as a green-gray bruise-like sheen begins to overtake her skin. I sit in the floor and awkwardly watch, knowing that people in the hallway are going to think she's being murdered. After a few minutes, her screams stop and the transformation is complete. "Look!" she says excitedly. "I've completely transformed."

She notices that my canine teeth are beginning to protrude much farther than normal. "Oh, your transformation is starting now, too." I go to the mirror and watch in fascination as my teeth grow sharper and more wolf-like. However, my interest is cut short when the pain in my gut begins. It feels like someone is grabbing my organs and squeezing hard. I fall to the floor, convulsing, shrieking with each stab of pain in my stomach. After what feels like an eternity, the pain fades and I black out.

      *time lapse*

A month has passed. It is the full moon once more, and I am excited to experience being the Wolf for the first time, since I was unconscious for the duration of the last full moon. It will be much easier for me the second time around, I know. The only problem is, people know a werewolf is living nearby and they have formed a mob to kill it. I will have to be extremely careful not to get caught.

Unfortunately for me, it is summer, which means that the moon's power hits me early in the evening. I'm attending an outdoor dinner party with my mother when the feeling begins. I know I will turn soon. "I'm going to step out in the woods for a minute," I tell my mother. She doesn't know that I'm the werewolf everyone is concerned about.

"I'll go with you," she says.

"No. I'm going alone." I tell her firmly.

"Then you're not going at all!" she snaps.

I'm beginning to grow angry and a bit desperate. "I'm 20 years old. You can't run my life anymore!" I storm out into the woods before she can stop me. I take my wolf form almost as soon as I'm out of sight from the party. It feels wonderful! A sense of power and freedom so powerful is coursing through my veins, that I throw my head back and howl. The sound echoes eerily through the forest, sounding more dangerous than any wolf. Damn. I'd forgotten about the mob.

Someone comes crashing through the woods towards me--- it was my mother. She has a shotgun, pointed directly at me. I desperately try to signal for her to not shoot, but she can't understand me! It is too late. She fires the gun.

The bullet pierces through my stomach, knocking me to the ground. I'm too weak to feel the pain. As I begin to involuntarily shift back to my human form, my mother's look of realization and scream of horror at what she's done are the last things I experience before everything goes black.

      02.01.2014
      To Be The Prey (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

My brother and I are standing in our back yard when we notice a chicken and a rooster down the hill. "Let's chase them!" I say excitedly. He agrees, so we take off after the birds. Using what little flying ability they have, the birds easily flutter out of our reach. Suddenly becoming lucid, I fly off after them. Flying, it's much easier to keep up with the chickens, but we still manage to lose them after a while. I also lose lucidity.

My mother has read a task in her scouting handbook that requires the participant to mark their favorite pages in a book and then leave the book outside to show the dogs. I think this is completely stupid and want no part in it. However, my mother is trying to make me complete this task. She is SO annoying that I finally concede, but when I walk outside with the book it occurs to me that the dogs will just chew it up rather than try to read the pages I've marked.

Irritated, I walk to the back of the yard where my dad and brother are sitting. I'm complaining to them about how irritating my mom is being when suddenly coyotes begin howling nearby. The dogs go crazy, and I decide to stir them up even more by howling along with the coyotes.

However, just before I start howling I notice that the "coyotes" are walking directly into our yard. "Woah, are you sure those are coyotes?" I ask my dad. They look more like large wolves.

There are two of them, and they both lay eyes on me at the same moment. They drop to a hunting crouch, growling furiously and stalking closer to me. One of them lunges. I manage to jump at the same instant, kicking the beast so hard in the head that he falls limp to the ground. My timing isn't so great with the other one. He barrels into me, knocking me over. However, I still have my grip on the book, which happens to be a pretty heavy hard back. I begin beating the wolf over the head with my book. It is a long a bloody process with such a terrible weapon, but I somehow manage to beat him to death. My book is now sticky with his blood.

I am irrationally furious that my book has been ruined despite not following through with my mom's asinine task, so I stomp off toward the hill to bury it. But as I approach the edge of the forest, I am at first horrified to see more wolves. However, it seems they are impressed with my fighting skills. They have come to make me an honorary member of their Pack.

The biggest, toughest wolf does not agree with this decision. He attacks me without warning, intending to kill me. His attack knocks me off balance, but I use the momentum to roll on top of him. There are no real weapons nearby. I somehow manage to get a hold of a deer's leg bone, which I promptly shove into the wolf's mouth when he tries to bite me. I shove the bone deep into his throat until he chokes to death. Upon dying, he finally accepts me as an equal.
    7. Determination and Nostalgia

      by , 01-31-2014 at 04:02 PM (Death's Other Kingdom)
I've been reading over all of my old dream journals, which has me feeling quite nostalgic about LDing. It's hard to believe I first stumbled upon this site nearly 7 whole years ago! A lot has changed since then, but my love for dreaming hasn't. Which is why I'm more motivated than ever to be active on here and to make more of an effort to keep up with my dream journal.

So, here are a few of the dreams I managed to log during my extremely stressful last semester.

      11.21.2013
      Wolf Rider, Vampire Slayer (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I am taking shelter in an old colonial-style town with a girl named Rachel and a few other friends from college. Rachel and I are spending a lot of time flirting with each other, though it is a bit awkward.

One morning, I'm talking to the town council about supplying food if we have to stay here over the winter. I suggest we use the corn field, but they tell me it is infested with squirrels. "It can't be that bad," I scoff. they take me to the corn field where THOUSANDS of squirrels are feasting on what's left of the corn. "Okay," I relent, "I see what you mean."

While we stand here pondering what to do, wolves and giant deer emerge from the forest and into the field. The wolves seem to mean no harm, but the deer are a different story. One of them is angry with me and tries to trample me. A large wolf comes to my rescue. He lets me ride on his back, taking me safely back to town.

In town, I'm trying to figure out the location of a Vampire nest that has been plaguing the area. The blueprint of the town shows me that the large church at the edge of town includes a system of underground tunnels--- this must be the nest! I remember that the whole town is supposed to meet in this church later. I have to warn everybody!

I go to Rachel first, but as I'm explaining my discovery, the Vamps decide to strike. They quickly surround us, herding us to the church. I hold Rachel's hand, doing my best to protect her, keeping myself between her and the vampires as we walk.

At the church, we are led to a back room where we're supposed to wait. I become separated from Rachel, but come across my brother. He is back from the Army, where he served as an expert Vampire slayer. He tells me that we should fight them and escape to save the town.

I find a large colored pencil nearby (as this seems to be a Sunday school room for children), which I realize would amke a lovely stake. I brutally stab the first Vamp I come across--- right through the heart--- three times. I find more colored pencils on a table. I use them to gouge out a female Vamp's eyes as she lunges at me. She screeches terribly.

      01.08.2014
      Drink and be Merry (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I am semi-lucid, with a HUGE bottle of delicious wine. My German professor is giving a lecture outside on a hill. I am attending this lecture with my bottle hidden behind my back. Every time the professor looks away, I take a drink. The wine is REALLY good and little sips just aren't enough. I slip away so I can enjoy the drink more thoroughly.

I somehow end of in the house of a woman who seems to be in her mid 30's. We drink the entire bottle together, becoming very drunk and giggly. I'm so drunk that my face is tingling. We make out in her bed for a few minutes, then completely pass out.

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

After an annoying library incident, I am hiding on the front lawn with my dad as giant crow creatures circle over head. They want nothing more than to tear us limb from limb and devour our corpses. We bury ourselves under piles of mown grass--- unfortunately, they spot my dad and drag him away.

I lie there for a long time before
realizing that I'm dreaming. Now itching for a fight, I conjure up a machete and teleport inside my house. I intend to run out the front door to fight them, where I'll be in a better position for battle. Unfortunately, my brother stops me before I make it out. He claims the machete is his, and I end up fighting him for it.

Physical attacks do no damage. Instead, I somehow "grab" his energy and threaten to crush his existence. Terrified, he surrenders.

I go back outside with the knife, more than ready for my battle with the crow creatures. I look to the sky where one is flying. It bursts into flames and falls at my feet, where it becomes a crow-shaped medallion with the name "Rebecca Rostrid" engraved into it with firey letters. I wake up with the name burned into my mind.

      Finding Rebecca Rostrid (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I am jogging down the road in the neighborhood outside my college. My legs are not working properly and I keep nearly falling. A friend who is with me finds this hilarious and intentionally pushes me over. I angrily think that this is like something that would happen in a dream. The thought triggers me to RC, and I become lucid.

I immediately remember that I want to find out who Rebecca Rostrid is. the setting has changed to that of a typical high school. I ask my friend if she knows Rebecca, but she is no help. I shout her name--- it reverberates throughout the whole school.

Nearby, there is a group of guys leaning agains the lockers. They tell me they know who Rebecca is, and we have a brief conversation about her. They mention something about her apparently pleasing appearance and, to fit in, I make a rather inappropriate joke involving her. They all laugh about it until I realize that Rebecca is standing right behind me. She doesn't look pleased with what I've said. "Um, that was just a joke," I mumble awkwardly.

She is somewhat short, with curly/frizzy red hair tied back in a pony tail. We have a short conversation that I no longer remember.

My life has been pretty hectic since this past summer, but (as always) I miss being active here and talking about dreams with everyone. So I'm going to attempt to bring this journal back up to date with a few highlights from my written DJ. I'll group them by month so there won't be an overflow of posts from me.

      Rise of the Mutants (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I go into a strange Japanese restraunt with my friends from college. We are only stopping by to use the bathroom after ((some events I can't remember)). All of the prices are listen in Yen, so I have no idea how much everything actully costs. It looks really expensive though.

I am admiring a fish tank in the back that has extremely exotic creatures that I've never seen before. One of the creatures is fairly large, about the size of a dog, has webbed hands and feet, a lizard tail, fish fins coming out of its face (like the Hyoo-mans), and a drill for a nose. The creature stands pressed up against the glass, staring at us.

Somehow the thing escapes, along with others of its kind. It turns out that they are somewhat sentient. We are supposed to stand perfectly still while they sniff us and nothing will happen, but everyone is freaked out and one of them slaughters Hannah.

Years pass and these things have taken over. We have taken refuge in the sewers, but as part of a resistance force we've been above ground doing some scouting. We get caught. The creatures are sniffing us. I manage to stand still until they try sniffing up my skirt, then I freak out and squirm around, trying to get away. This triggers their wrath, and we are forced to run away.

      Coughing up Roaches (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I am in a classroom at my old high school with two annoying kids who were freshman back when I was a senior. I take a nap, and when I wake up the entire school has undergone some kind of demonic shift.

My first sign that something is terribly wrong is when I begin coughing up roaches. I am coughing and hacking, with huge live roaches spilling out onto the floor. One of them crawls out of my mouth and scurries up my face to hide in my hair. I am disgusted, but not quite as disturbed as I should be.

Some time passes and I am deep within the belly of the school, in a dungeon-like area filled with row upon row of drying racks. On the racks are the decaying corpses of goblins. I am travelling with a live goblin, and I feel sorry that he has to see all of this. The ceiling is very low, so we are walking hunched over.

We make our way through the seemingly endless expanse of dead goblins, when the ceiling begins to collapse. We quickly evade the falling rubble until we come to an area where the ceiling is a bit higher. There are still rows and rows of drying racks in this area, but at least we don't have to hunch forward to walk anymore. Unfortunately, there are also Giants guarding this section. I imagine that they are on high alert due to the collapsing ceiling, so we flee the area as quickly and quietly as possible.

Along the way, these red bamboo creatures called "Rod Foxes" begin chasing us. I lose my goblin companion, but I make it out of the drying rack area and hide from the Rod Foxes in a classroom. There are a few students in there who are former classmates of mine. One of them looks out the door and says that a teacher is coming. This is a problem, because all of the teachers have become demonized. My classmate says that if we just do as we're told, he won't hurt us.

The teacher enters the room and tells us to sit in alphabetical order. We comply immediately. He then slams a putrid goblin head onto my desk and says that I must eat it, because it's "tea time."

I refuse to eat the goblin head and end up slashing the teacher's throat with dual knives. (Not sure how I acquired these.)

More time passes and my cockroach problem has gotten worse. I can't stop coughing, and the roaches are crawling out of me at an alarming rate.

Somehow I manage to stop coughing. There is a painting of a castle on a nearby wall, and I
become lucid while admiring it. I decide that I will go into the painting and explore the castle. I manage to get into the painting, but the night is so dark that I can barely see.

      I wake up shortly afterward.

      Roaming the Night (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Prior to the events of the dream, I was hanging out with a werewolf and a vampire in a pub somewhere in the city. These two happen to be characters of mine from some silly story I tried writing in middle school/early high school.

The dream opens as I am walking through the city at night, searching for my car. Once I find it, I make a wrong turn down a dark, sketchy looking road. Somehow I end up on foot again as I try to turn back around (dream logic doesn't like me driving, apparently). As I'm walking, a tall guy in his late teens approaches me. He is dripping with an air of false friendliness.

He soon questions me about the vampire I was hanging out with in the pub. He wants to know his name. "Vincent," I tell him, mentally preparing myself for the fight or chase that is bound to happen.

      "Vincent what?"

"Just Vincent. He doesn't have a last name. For all I know, Vincent isn't even his real first name, either."

The guy loses his friendly act and says that the vamp is bound to come here once he hears my screams. I can't really see Vincent caring one way or another what happens to me, but Dakota (the werewolf) would surely flip out. Not wanting the wolf to find out what trouble I've gotten myself into yet again, I break into a sprint.

I easily stay one step ahead of the guy, but soon we come upon my Aunt's house and I see that this isn't going to end without a fight. The guy is stronger than I would have thought; it becomes clear that he intends to rape me. The fight is brutal and lasts several minutes. In the end, I get the upper hand and beat the guy until he is moaning on the ground, pleading for me to stop.

      Beyond My Own Life (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I have returned to the Academy to take care of the great evil which has been running it. I am the prophesized Hero, so I must not be seen by any officials who report to the Headmaster. The Academy is located in an enormous Gothic style cathedral. I am hiding out in one of the back rooms, biding my time while the school participates in the opening ceremony.

I screw up somehow and the Headmaster is suspicious. He starts toward the room in which I'm hiding. I dive under the bed, but it is too late. I'm caught.

"Guards!" the Headmaster cries. "Kill her." He turns and leaves as the guards swarm me. I dive out the window and land conveniently in front of a pile of swords that one of my "followers" has left for me. I grab one: a sword with a black and sliver handle and a long, thin blade.

The first guard that I fight seems to be sympathetic towards me. He is giving me tips on how to fight, and all his instructions are in a Video Game Tutorial Style. After the tutorial, our battle commences. I knock the first guard's sword away, and kill the ones who leave me no other choice. I feel an odd satisfaction as my sword slices through their chests.

The remaining guards (who are apparently on my side) run off. But the alarm has been raised. Now the Priests, with their long white robes and stupid looking headdresses, are coming after me. I hide in a large pile of sand, along with a young boy who has been helping me. The boy makes way too much noise while we are hiding (despite me practically begging him to remain silent). A Priest grabs us... Fortunately, it is one of my followers in disguise. She leads me to a room where the others in our conspiracy are working.

I lose the dream shortly afterwards.

I find two small dragons in my room. One of them is black and living in my bedside table. The other is green. I let the green one inside through the window. It seems happy inside, but it keeps biting my finger. It hurts, but the dragon is so cute that I just allow it to bite me.

      Overthrowing the Tea Party (DEILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I wake up in sleep paralysis, and my clock informs me that I'm late for work. I'm not sure if I'm just hallucinating this, but I can't be late after missing so much last week! I struggle to wake up. No avail. The entire time, a sermon from some conservative southern Baptist preacher is blaring from my television. It is one of the most irritating things ever...

Suddenly Amanda comes in the room. "Hey, don't you have class now?" she asks.

"Yes," I mumble in a weak voice. "Please wake me up."

She sits down on top of me. At first, I am still paralyzed. But then: "Hey, I can move now." I do a reality check and confirm that I'm actually dreaming. I decide I'm probably not really late for anything.

"I need you to come with us," Amanda tells me in a strange voice. It's almost as if she's hypnotized. Curious, I decide to play along.

"Fair enough. But afterwards, you should help me find that girl that you drew. That's my goal, remember?"

She doesn't answer. She just looks at me expectantly, waiting for me to follow her. I shrug and attempt to put on my bedroom slippers. It doesn't work, and I figure I don't need them since it's just a dream.

She leads me into an attic where my other friends are waiting. "Hey guys, what's up?" I ask.

"Welcome to the Tea Party," they all say in weird, robotic voices. I look around the room and see that it is completely filled with radical Republican propaganda, including some pictures of my friends that show women "in their proper place." What the hell?

I take their pictures off the wall and stare my friends dead in the eyes as I rip the papers to shreds. They all gasp in horror. "That's what I think of your stupid Tea Party," I laugh, knowing that I just picked a deadly fight.

They all come at me at once, screaming about how I betrayed them and ruined everything. I leap down from the attic, intending to just ignore them and to carry on with my original goal, but they latch onto me. Since they're restraining my arms, I kick out at them violently. Alex complains that I've broken her ribs. "Good," I growl.

I wake up when Alex sneezes in real life.
    14. Old Hag Syndrome

      03.08.2013
      Old Hag Syndrome (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I "wake up," incredibly thirsty. "Definitely gotta get up and get some water," I think groggily. My mouth is so dry that my tongue is practically sticking to the back of my throat.

When I open my eyes, the first thing I see is a tall, dark figure. It is a tall old woman, wearing a black hat and a big black dress. I stare at the woman calmly, fully believing that I'm really just seeing a normal object, my refrigerator maybe, and that my brain is just still half asleep and making me hallucinate. I fully expect her to disappear within a few moments.

      She doesn't.

Instead, she glares directly into my eyes and lunges right at me! I let out a yelp of terror and shut my eyes. "OhmygodOhmygod I'm being attacked," I think frantically.

Then I realize that I can't move and that I've been stuck in sleep paralysis this whole time.

The realization actually makes me feel a bit better. At least now I know that the old woman isn't really real. Every time I open my eyes, I see her back in the doorway. Each time, she lunges toward me. I always close my eyes before she reaches me. Even though I know she's not real, it's still creepy as hell.

I really want to look at my clock: my one anchor to the physical world. But with the old hag constantly attacking me, I can't focus enough to do so. I have to get rid of her.

I open my eyes once more. The old woman comes toward me. I focus on speaking. "Don't. Touch. Me." It is an effort to get the words out, but I am pleased at how dangerously angry I sound. At the same time, I use an old trick of mine: I gather my fear and send it outward in an aggressive wave. The old woman halts in her tracks, stunned at my sudden retaliation.

After her initial shock, she says something along the lines of, "I will destroy you!"

"You can't hurt me," I growl in the same deadly tone.

She cackles. "Wanna bet?" She grabs ahold of my elbow. Pain radiates down my arm, but I've had worse and I only laugh.

"Even if you can hurt me, it doesn't make any difference," I taunt. "You're not real. You don't even exist."

Infuriated, she releases her hold on me and howls in rage.

"Now get away from me!" I yell. She stands in the doorway for the rest of the dream, not daring to attack again.

Now I can look at the clock. I struggle to make out the numbers: It's almost six in the morning. I've been stuck in SP for a while now, and I'm getting sick of it. SADLY, I fail to remember that I'm SUPPOSED to turn it into an LD or an OBE. Instead, I focus all my efforts into trying to wake myself up.

Nothing I do is helping. The only physical parts of me that I can control are my breathing, my eyes, and my tongue, but I can't do anything significant enough to wake myself up! Now that I'm not being attacked (and the vibrations aren't as intense as they have been), I'm getting incredibly bored and fed up with being forced to lie here not doing anything. How much longer could this possibly LAST!?

Screaming at my roommate to wake me up just results in more pointless hallucinations. So I remain stuck in SP for a while longer until I FINALLY snap out of it and wake up for real.

      Zombie Cataclypse (Lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I accidentally set off Wal-Mart's alarm system as I'm examining some RuneScape merchandice. All of my friends run away, leaving me as security shows up. "No big deal," I think. "Not like I stole anything." They search me and obviously don't find any stolen merchandice. However, they say they're going to have to hold me overnight. "You can't do that!" I exclaim. They tell me that they can.

When they're distracted, I take off running and leave the store. They follow after me and actually start shooting at me! Alarmed, I make my way to the back of the property where their delivery trucks are. As I'm running, I notice that my mom is tied up in the back of one of the trucks. She tells me that she got busted for shoplifting.

I free her and we run away.

      *time lapse*

Some strange things have happened that I don't remember. I am now trapped in a creepy mansion with two people I've been travelling with. I'm sitting at a table with one of them, a girl who is crying to me that the guy we're with has cheated on her. She says she still wants to be with him, but she can't just let him get away with cheating. "Well, why don't you cheat on him? Then it'll be even," I tell her.

"I can't just sleep with some random person to get back at him," she cries.

"It doesn't have to be a random person," I say with a smirk. "I mean, I'm always available." She looks as though she's considering it, so I slide closer and kiss her. We then stand up and I lead her into a back room. Sadly, some people in the mansion burst in and interrupt us, so we're once again on the run.

I spontaneously become lucid and decide that I am bored with the dream. I don't want to be in this mansion anymore. So I phase through the nearest window and somehow end up in my grandma's neighborhood.

After rubbing my hands together to stabilize the dream, I begin to walk happily down the street, singing to myself and just goofing off, enjoying being lucid under normal circumstances after so long. As I continue down the road, I notice that the doors to each house are open, and I can see the families inside. One little girl notices me singing and dancing. She laughs and walks out of her house towards me.

The whole neighborhood soon follows suit. Families flock out of their houses and follow me down the road. They are all smiling, laughing, and sharing in my happiness. I am in excellent spirits.... until I turn around and find out that all of the people have suddenly become zombies!

I stop for a moment, stunned at the abrupt change in mood. Of course, this would happen. When do I ever have non-threatening DC's in my lucids?

Since I had not been suspicious of the initial crowd of people, they are already too close for me to simply run away. Three of them are already trying to grab a hold of me, and I've fallen to the ground! I kick them as hard as I can in the head; they fall, but are still coming after me. I manage to get to my feet and start to run.

The zombies are still really close to me. One zombie girl reaches out to me... I suddenly realize that she is a normal human, pretending to be a zombie so that they won't get her. She grabs my arm and pulls me away from the hoarde.

We run together into the woods, quickly putting distance between us and the undead. "I have a gun if things get really bad," she tells me.

"What's your name?" I ask her.

"I'm Torrie," she says. "Or Annie."

"Wait, is it Torrie or Annie?" I ask, confused.

      "Yes."

I pause. "Um, okay. I'm Lola."

We end up on a very narrow path in the woods that has a fence on either side. We stop running. Everything has gone completely silent. "I don't like the looks of this," I whisper. "Maybe you should get out your gun."

Suddenly, a creepy voice rings through the air. "You have enroached too far into the hunting ground."

Torrie or Annie looks at me, clearly scared. Suddenly all manner of undead animals are quickly coming down the path toward us. "We have to go over the fence!" she cries out.

"Alright, you first." I help her over the fence. In the few seconds it takes to get her over, the animals are already at my feet. "Help me! Shoot them or something!" But Torrie or Annie is in shock or something and isn't moving. I stomp the animals' heads into the ground and quickly climb over. "Why didn't you help me?" I demand.

Then I see the state she is in. She's curled into a little ball, crying uncontrollably. Alarmed, I pull her into a hug. "Hey, don't cry. It's gonna be okay. Don't worry, I'll get us out of here." Since she is completely unresponsive, I pick her up and carry her. We end up in a small abandoned building, where I sit down and try to calm her.

I have a false awakening and am no longer lucid. Now I am outside of my old house with my dad and brother. The ground is frozen, and I am barefoot.

We walk to the back road; it is still apparent that we are under threat of zombies. On the road, there are weird tree and stick sculptures in the shape of people scattered about. Suddenly, we hear a weird sound. I realize it's coming from a huge metal tower in the middle of the briar patch to the right. In a booming voice from the tower, someone begins reciting the Lord's Prayer.

All of the sculptures come to life and begin reciting the prayer as well. The stick sculptures are carrying some kind of pamphlet and start jabbing me with them. I tell my dad and brother to run.

I manage to evade the creepy sculptures, but we have become separated. It is hard to walk properly, because I keep sliding on patches of ice. Eventually, I come to a place that looks like where I'd been before my false awakening. "Torrie!" I shout, hoping to find her again. "Annie?"

I walk into a nearby building and find her standing there. "L-Lola. It's you," she cries in relief. I run up to her and hug her close to me.

"Thank god I found you," I whisper, holding her against me. "I was worried that something might have happened." All I want to do is to sit there and hold her, but I hear some suspicious noises outside.

When I look out, two men are holding my dad and brother at gun point. One of them, who has a huge rifle. Walks up to us. "Well, well, well," he says creepily. "I think I'm gonna take you two young ladies as my wives." I give him an evil look, but he puts the gun to my back and marches us forward.

"I'll never let you take us," I growl at him.

"Oh really? And what are you going to do about it?" He turns and shoots my dad in the head. He falls to the ground, dead.

Enraged, I manage to get Torrie's gun from her bag and I shoot both men. One goes down instantly, but the man with the rifle laughs at me, even though he has clearly been shot in the head. "Well, you clearly have good gun skills, but can you---" I shoot him again. He is still alive, and laughing. I give the gun to Torrie, thinking she might have better luck. He just won't die!

      I wake up shortly afterwards.
