    1. The Awesome Street...

by , 01-12-2012 at 01:35 PM (My brain and I)
      29th of April, 2011

On a road trip with Nooks somewhere in the US.
Stopped and got out into a curious little plaza* adjacent to a road. It was a wonderful, sunny day.
We went for a stroll around the neighbourhood and noticed that all the houses were really odd. All totally unique and situated among each other unlike anything I’ve ever encountered in the dream or waking life. Some had ramparts, others were really thin and windy, lots were colourful. It was kind of Suess-ish in a more ‘normal’ way. I mentioned that it would be a really awesome place to go trick-or-treating.
Anyway, we found ourselves walking in a roughly hewn underground tunnel with dingy electric lights hanging from the roof. At some point during our walk I realised it was a dream and we exited the tunnel into a lovely green, bright forest. We went jumping around. Nooks was sitting in the grass playing an instrument– guitar or violin. I lay down in the grass and tried to shrink myself just for fun. It kind of worked but was a bit of a struggle so instead I climbed a tree to see the cool houses again but woke up.

Lay still in bed trying to get back to sleep.

Found myself climbing (literally, up the cabinets and stuff) in a kitchen and was still lucid. I ran down the hallway at speed and vaulted without a second thought over the balcony, falling at speed and crushing my car all awesome superhero style. I jogged down the street and decided to see my special door** again.
As I approached it, I woke up.

      Lucid ||Commentary || Non-Lucid

      Broke my dry-spell

I was doing a project in my Pre-Calculus class, in which we were to make a website about something. When it was my turn to present, Mrs. Ward (the teacher) said something about not being fully prepared. She loaded up my website onto the Smart Board in front on the room, and was browsing it. She then clicked on a link that was supposed to link to the first page of my friend's website, but instead, it linked to the entire website instead. Mrs. Ward pointed this out, and I felt bad.

Afterwards, my mom called me on my cell phone. She told me she had to do something in McAdenville, and wouldn't be able to pick me up. I asked if I had to ride with my cousin (he lives in McAdenville, and goes to a different school), and she said yes. I tried to find an excuse to not go to McAdenville, such as I had soccer practice.

I was now at home, unleashing my dog. As I was walking back to the house, I wondered why I wasn't at soccer practice. It then occurred to me that I had a car, and there was no reason for me to ride with Jalen in the first place. It also occurred to me I'm training for tennis, and soccer season had already passed.
      With this, the dream ended.

I lied very still as I woke up, with the intent to jump back into the dream consciously. I felt the familiar tinglings of SP. I tried to visualize the dream where it ended. Very vivid images of the past dream flashed in my vision, then the tingling became more intense. I decided I would just ride the vibrations into lucidity. The vibrations became more intense, and for once, I saw HI. It wasn't very colorful; in fact, it looked more like "shadows" jumping around my room. Surprisingly, I wasn't scared and just remained calm. Once the vibrations subsided, I did a RC. I was dreaming!

I was standing up in my room. "Well, since I'm in a dream, I can do anything, like passing the walls." (I mainly said this to affirm myself I wouldn't slam into the walls like last time ) I passed through the walls with ease. It was very beautiful outside; it was dawn and the sky was a mix of blue and orange hues. The environment was very vivid. I decided to seize the opportunity to further ground myself into the dream. I got down on my stomach and smelled and felt the green grass. It smelt very refreshing, and the environment around me in response to this got a little brighter. I got up with the intent of accomplishing the goal of contacted my 'subconscious,' or, the 'intelligence' behind the dream to find my dream guide.

From back around my house, I see a figure. As it approaches me, I notice it's a Hispanic girl who was completely nude. She gave me a smile, and walked passed me. "CRAP," I thought to myself. This was definitely doing to interfere with my goal. I turned around and followed the girl, wanting a hug (wow, I'm surprised I just wanted a hug). She turned around.

"Why don't you come with me for a bit?" I thought about this briefly. "Sorry," I said, "I'm on a mission here."

She smiles again. "You're trying to find it, aren't you? Don't worry, it should still be here soon."

At this point, I don't know what overcame me, and I gave into temptation. I went to the girl, and did some tasteless stuff. The girl allowed it, but her expression implied she was obviously disappointed in me.

      "Yea well....you better get going."

I took a deep breath, about to ask my subconscious to manifest before me with firm intent. At the point however, I suddenly woke up.

After waking up, I realize that that girl was testing me to see whether or not I had the conviction to accomplish my goals without getting distracted; obviously, I didn't . However, I'm happy that I broke my dry spell, and this definitely won't happen again. I swear I've seen this girl in a previous dream before....

I am with a collection of friends at my old house. Jane, Graeme and Ben are there. We have a lot of alchohol, pills and weed (I decided last year to stay clean away from anything other then alchohol so this situation is annoying) in the dream I smoke some weed and get pretty drunk too. Everyone is sitting around in a circle and we are all pretty wasted. The dreamscape changes and we are now high up on a wooden platform at someone elses house, the circle of people remains unchanged though. I sort of get a feeling that things arent normal but it doesnt come to anything. My grandma calls me and says she is on her way to pick me up, I freak out because I am wasted but manage to pull myself together before she arrives, suddenly I am sober as a judge. becoming sober seems to unleash a new clarity in my mind and my awareness is switched on. I realise that my location is unfamiliar and that my Nana should be in another city. I become lucid. without doing a R/C I begin to follow Nana, curious to where she was going to take me, strangely she meets up with a friend though and leaves me once we have just crossed the road. I decide to head back towards my friends but when I turn around the house has disappeared and they are all out on the street. I invite Jane to come flying with me but she just laughs so I set off on my own. I often get frustrated when I fly because I seem to always have a kind of "energy level" that depletes the longer I stay in the air. I can never get my speed up enough for totally unrestriced free flying. This time is a little better. I manage to position myself head first, arms by my side and pointed towards the moon (which is HUGE). I fly low over a park and the branches of a tree brush over my face and body but its not painful and just grounds me to the dream some more. the feeling of flight is totally amazing as usual, the scenery below just blows my mind, although it is only my hometown as I know it. I pass over some back yards and see a childhood friend of mine playing on one of those skydiver training things which have the huge fans below them to simulate freefall. I laugh to myself because he is struggling so hard and I am just cruising by. Amazed, he yells out "LOOK, ITS DUNCAN, HES FLYING!". Now I am really high up. I feel determained to get as close to the moon as possible. the ground shrinks below me and I must be at least 200m up in the sky when, as usual, my 'flying energy' starts to run out. annoyed I start to float back towards the ground, kind of picking up speed right toward the end. As I come into the ground I am going hot and heavy, so throw my feet out infront of me and prepare for a massive slide along the ground. I hit the ground sliding and realise that there are millions of icecubes everywhere, making my landing a little more manageable. I eventually slam into the side of a garage door and come to a stop. This is the last thing I remeber before waking

      Rhino Runs

I am at a restaurant which I do not recognise, there are many four-seat tables and white tablecloths with golden trim. Im having a dinner with my Mum, Dad and sister (missed a dreamsign - my parents are split up now) but cannot remember any of the conversation until we step outside.
Once we are outside I tell my dad that I'm not going to play hockey this year and he gets really upset
(he wouldnt really do this, I think it may be because we have previously spent a lot of time together doing hockey things and he might see it as losing something we have to share)
I can't handle dad being so upset so I walk away with Mum while dad keeps talking to my sister. We walk around a long curving highway which is next to the sea and up quite high on a hillside. Eventually we come to a long gravel driveway which has a farm fence running along one side and a hiking track on the other. On the side of the farm fence there seems to be a river off in the distance (The dreamscape changed a little since we were next to the sea but the location doesnt feel any different).
Mum and I walk about 500m up the driveway and stop at a little grassy bank which is at the beginning of the hiking track, while we are stopped I look out towards the river and HOLY CRAP there are two black rhinos grazing in the field! Of course when I look at the rhinos they both look up at me and start charging, full pace, dust and dirt flying up behind them and clearly not about to stop for anyone. At this point I am seriously concerned and look around for Mum to see if she has seen them too but she has disappeared.
I turn back to face the rhinos, I feel like running is the worst possible idea so I just stand and stare at them until they are upon me. One comes straight on and the other a little from my left, anticipating both of their actions I jump far to the right and avoid both of them. as they hurtle past I make a run and manage to squeeze through a fence to safety. I slowly make my way back up the road (it is now the main street of my town) and find myself at my nanas house (its not actually in the city which I live - I missed SO many chances to become lucid in this dream) Once I am at Nanas, all my cousins are there and Paul is showing me some of his sketches, they are extremely detailed sketches of eyes, only one of them is in colour. I realise he is really drunk and then also notice my uncle is drunk too.
after this the dream fades and I dont recall any more

      Fragment

I recall something about a harry potter type scene, like being at hogwarts. strangely I dont remember any people being around though, I just had the "feeling" of the wizarding world.

      Lama

After recently watching the film "the way back" I have a clear memory of the end part of the film where they meet monks in Tibet, probably the cause of this dream.
I am walking along a great wall of stone, high in the mountains. I am alone yet not scared or frightened at all, I can also feel the fresh air and see mist forming around me. After walking for a while I come to a wide section of the wall which spans out into a courtyard, lining the edges of the courtyard are doors which seem to lead into other sections of the path and other rooms. Some people begin to enter the courtyard and I recognise them as the people I work with at my bar on the weekends, they are all dressed in orange monks robes and remain silent. my manager seems to be a Lama type person and invites me to join him in meditation, I sit with him and close my eyes, the dream fades but not before I feel a great sense of peace. after this I wake up and try to re-enter the dream in a DEILD but dont remember anything of it after properly waking up.

    5. Sp and stress

by , 01-12-2012 at 11:34 AM (Tales from the sun chaser.)
I'm either dreaming or having HI of some small brown skeleto walking towards me on my bed. I don't know how I know but it feels like I'm in my from Cali. Anyway I have a ps3 controller and I'm pressing the right trigger to kill it, and nothing is happening. I break out of the dream, and immediately feel a tug. Dang it's not over. I don't even bother trying to get out of bed because I know it's going to be a full on struggle. I wait.,,nothing happens for a few minutes, and then I feel feet trampling through my bed. My body auto wakes up and I have chills all over me..fuck it's going to be a long night...probably due to stress. I relax and try to not think about the things that are on my mind.

I end up dreaming that I'm working in a store with S and some other people. She's datIng some guy who's treating her like crap and I asked her was it really worth choosing him over me...the scene changes before I get a reply.

I'm in an office and people are discussing all the things they did right as a company last year and the entire time I'm negative about what they say. They mention a safey rating and I tell them I'm going to die...there's a bit of sarcasm and screw it to the way I counter whatever they bring up.

I also remember going to a party...this happened befor all the sp.
    6. The Breath Test...

      21st of April, 2011

Standing in a kitchen with Daniel. I began discussing with him about what we’d do if it was a dream. Eventually he just said “it is!”, so I did a hand check and even though they looked reasonably normal, concluded that
      it was a dream.
Without really doing much else, I remembered I wanted to do the Breath test.*
I took a big breath (slightly larger than usual) and began to realise I could feel my true self breathing.

I woke up after feeling my hands in my bed.

*This is an idea I had regarding whether or not your breathing correlates between the sleeping and waking self. After doing it I discovered it’s actually a pretty well known experiment, similar to how the eyes of a dreamer in the real world mimic the movements of the sleeping self.
Even though I didn’t break any new ground, I’m pretty stoked I can be coming up with experiments that professionals think of!

      20th of April, 2011

I'm in a house. Something was goig on when suddenly I jumped out the window and began flying through the night sky and back yard. I swam around in the air for a while before discovering that sucking some gas helps make you fly better. Helium, maybe? I was tearing around the trees and did a Tom Cruise style flyby of people having a conversation while I sang the Top Gun theme song.

      -----

In Hong Kong looking at the Bank of China building. I went inside and asked if I could see "The Agency". Toddled up the escalator and came to an awesome TimeZone like place, filled with zany games. After going downstairs and checking out all the machines, I went through a door into the Agency. Some dude I'd met before complained that his sandwich was cold. The Agency was this really bohemian building with wooden floors and a skateboard ramp. Introduced myself at the table and then casually strolled outside and began planting veggies.
    8. The First Recorded Lucid...

by , 01-12-2012 at 10:33 AM (My brain and I)
      24th of January, 2011

I had a nap in the study at Nooks' house and could hear her typing in the background the entire time I was asleep.

Began in a hilly township. I was walking down a red brick paved path but it was far too steep and slippery so I slid down it on my butt and got worried my pants would be ruined.
The dream was already unstable at this point and I was questioning things.

At the bottom of the hill there was a quaint little red brick plaza and I was wearing rollerblades- doing jumps down stairs and stuff. Some pros bumped into me and got annoyed.
At some point my brother, Nooks and some others were around – out the front of a shop or something- and we were talking. Some other adventures happened and we ended up outside/inside a shop with these weird Emu-puppet costumes and Warhammer type toys.
While I was browsing my tooth started to hurt so I touched it and noticed it was wobbly.
Awwww Hell No it ain’t! Did a hand dream check and all my fingers were bent backwards. I did a little dance and asked to increase lucidity.*
In my excitement I discovered I was in my house, so I took a stroll around admiring the accuracy of the recreation then climbed out the window and flew around, which I found much easier than usual and did a sort of breast stroke.
I flew around for a while looking at houses and taking in the dreamscape then landed and did some looking around. I had to keep spinning and rubbing my hands to keep the dream stable. It was a street at night time. The grass was damp on the front lawns. I turned around in hopes of a scenery change but it stayed the same. I looked up at a streetlight and noticed it was more an unfocussed orb of light.
At that point, I woke up in the study. As a precaution, I checked my hands and noticed they were still funny. YEAH!
Had some sexy times (a bit un-lucid) then went outside.
I was in another plaza, kind of like one where I used to live. I ran madly along a ledge and noticed a door- wooden with dirty glass panelling and a numbered plaque. “That’ll do” I thought.
I jumped down off the ledge and over to the door, took a breath and thought “my perfect place is behind this door”.
I pulled it open and was engulfed in a white light.

Then I woke up for real.

I really want to return to that door one day.

*In my experience I find that works best when you just yell it to high heaven, but often when I do that I worry that I'll yell out in real life so when I go lucid I always have this little battle with myself!

We're in Mario64- both playing and observing as often is the case in my dream games. I decide that as she hasn't played it before, I want to show Nooks the coolest level I can. We run into the castle and look in the basement but don't find anything particularly memorable, so we go back outside to this big mushroom that's floating over a void where the moat normally is. When we get closer, we notice that it's not a mushroom with a pipe on it at all, it's a trampoline with a toilet on it. We stood in the toilet and tried to flush ourselves into the level.

      It didn't work.

      It was just a toilet.

There's a black hole in our solar system slowly sucking everything in. Jupiter and Saturn are huge in our sky as we get pulled together.
The change in rotation causes gravity to lessen, so we're all kinda jumping about weirdly as the Earth gets sucked in.

    11. First Lucid!!!

      by , 01-12-2012 at 09:41 AM
So about a year ago when I was a senior in High School, I did a project on Lucid Dreaming for a psychology project. Since then I have tried to get lucid a number of times but had yet to actually succeed.

Then, over winter break, I stayed at my friends dorm room in downtown Portland, my first time ever sleeping in down town, even though I have lived in Portland and slept at many of my friends homes around the city throughout my whole life. Me and my best friend Nick, we had a few shots that night and went out around downtown. Later, after the alcohol had mostly wore off and we were trying to pass out back in his room, I was unable to fall asleep. I would fall asleep for probably a minute or so, then wake up and would continue to do fall asleep and wake up for what seemed like hours, and then around probably 4 am I think, I fell asleep.

In my dream I was at a small house party, with the homies and a few people that felt like recent acquaintances. I know my friend Patrick has been wanting to get out and party lately, but has been unable to for a number of reasons. And in my dream, it was because he had a new baby girl to take care of. I told him that I would take care of the baby and not drink or smoke so that he could take a break and go have some fun. He warned me that the baby could be kind of a "hoe." As I am taking care of this baby, I notice that she is changing over the course of the party. I think she caught a cold for a bit, then she is older, then she is a toddler, then a little girl of probably four years old in a completely different set of clothes, and has quite a few sarcastic remarks to make to me. And then she becomes the little baby girl again. And I think to myself about how I am actually kind of frustrated now after all these changes the baby incurred, and how I just want to not think anymore about it and go party. I keep getting more and more frustrated and ask myself, why I am taking care of this baby at all... after all, Patrick is only my age and doesn't even have a baby! and then the baby is gone, just completely disappears. I feel weird almost questioning, like "wait, what is going on?" But I am relieved that I don't have to take care of this baby anymore. All my friends say they are going outside to hang out at the park across the street, so I get up to go with them. When we get outside, the air feels very crisp, like on a cold but sunny morning in January, but its comfortable. It is night out, and there are low lying clouds of mist right above the tops of the trees, and the stars, which are bigger and brighter than I think I have ever seen them. They are all over the sky, which is a deep dark blue color. The thing about this park we are at, is that it is the same park I live across the street from in real life, even though this house party was not at my house. And I notice a few extra fir trees that are definitely NOT at my park. And thats what does it. Those trees let me know that I AM in a dream, and I am not waking up at all. The guys are ahead of me already at the play structure. I feel so happy because I know this is soooo cool! I try to jump into the air to fly, and I sort of stay a few feet above ground for a brief second, and slowly come down onto the path. I try this a few times and keep coming back down - whatever. I remember hearing that by looking in a mirror or at my hands in a dream, I will see a distorted version of what I am looking at, so since I am outside and there is no mirror, I look at my right hand, and it looks stretched, and I start to laugh because this proves it, but then my fingers start to become twisted and really distorted and it scares me so I stop looking and try to catch up to my friends. I see them all hanging around the slide and swings and we are all happy just walking around on this night bullshitting with each other. We go around the last bend of the pathway and are headed back to the house, which is in fact my house now, as it wasn't earlier, and I see all of them, and we're just smiling and laughing. Its me, Nick, Patrick, Spencer, even Chet, who usually hangs with his own group of friends so it's a little odd for him to be hanging out with us but whatever. And then, I feel it coming, and instead of waking up, I feel more like I am transitioning into the bed, as if I really wasn't already there and I am being teleported into the bed... and the images fade to black, and I am so glad that since I am in this new place that it just happens to be a very comfortable bed, (which it probably wasn't, because it was a dorm bed, but ha whatever) I was at the park, now I am laying on my back all warm and under blankets.

    12. The Sci-Fi One...

by , 01-12-2012 at 09:35 AM (My brain and I)

      30th of October, 2010

Humans had settled on Titan and turned it into a holiday destination. I'm not sure it was actually Titan, but that's what we called it and it was some distant moon, so we'll pretend.
We travelled there on this humungous mother ship and when we got off I just lay down and looked at the sky and yelled in utter joy.

This place was spectacular. Amazing. Totally alien yet utterly beautiful.
There were enormous super-highways high in the sky, which in itself was breathtaking; a hazy yellowish green with a constant red tinge. The selling point was the fact that this was a moon, and as such an enormous potion of the sky was filled with a planet that looked a lot like Earth.
I played around on Titan for a while, running through the beautifully architectured streets and incorporated rivers of shimmering liquid. All around people were driving strange automobiles and most tourists were walking around in just as much awe as myself. I played hide and seek with some locals.

      -----

I sold my car and while on a train saw a huge (I’m noticing while writing this that a lot of things in my dreams are described as “huge”- I need a new adjective) alien ship in the sky and started shouting about it in panic. We turned a corner and saw a while city was under attack. In the city, police were trying to keep order but people were mutating into these fierce alien monsters. I got chased by mutants who were tearing people apart left right and centre before running back to the place where I sold my car- a strange workshop with a big lift in the centre. I went down the lift into a bunker that was built into the side of a mountain, kind of like those pillboxes that machine gunners sat in during WWI, except several hundred meters off the ground. There I listened to the radio and heard about a resistance group.
While keeping guard with a bunch of new additions to the group, a helicopter came. We weren’t sure what it was so we hid. My friend threw a grenade at them before we realised they were the good guys. I got in this giant plasma gun and started firing into the valley. The alien ships came and caused the cliff to collapse so we jumped into these mech things and strode around tearing shit up.

It gets a bit hazy after that, except for the final revelation: The aliens turned out to be black people.

    13. Fear of Waking Up

      by , 01-12-2012 at 09:19 AM
I've recently begun attempting to lucid dream and I've yet to succeed for more than a few seconds but my dream recall has been steadily improving. For my entire life I've struggled to get out of bed in the morning and recently this struggle has been playing itself out in the form of false awakenings.

A couple weeks ago I awoke in my girlfriends bed, despite being a couple hundred miles away, to the sound of my alarm clock. It didn't strike me as odd that my girlfriend was nowhere to be found and I rolled over to hit the snooze button... nothing happened. Next I tried turning off the alarm completely and still the alarm kept going off. Frustrated and confused I ripped the plug out of the wall to shut the thing up so I could go back to bed in peace but even that didn't work. Furious I took the alarm clock and smashed it on the ground breaking it into as many pieces as possible... but somehow the alarm continued to go off. I got so frustrated I gave up my attempt at going back to sleep and haunted by my alarm I grabbed some clothes and went into town to grab a cup of coffee. The entire walk my alarm still haunted me. My dream began to get a little more fuzzy as I continued on and for some reason began talking to a police office for a reason which I can't recall. The last thing I remember is realizing that I must be dreaming and decided to fly away from the sound of the alarm. Suddenly I (actually) woke up to the sound of my alarm, looked at my clock, and realized that I had just slept through my alarm going off for 20 minutes.

This afternoon I took a nap before going to work and once again had a false awakening. I was woken up by the sound of my garage door opening and my dad coming home from work early. He came in to my room and offered me a ride to work since I had to be there in 15 minutes (not enough time to walk) but when I went to respond my throat tightened up and I lost my voice. I then almost vomited (I have acid reflux so stomach pain in the morning is common) and developed an excruciating headache (also common for me in mornings for a reason I'm not sure of). I felt horrible and laid there in bed for a while contemplating how I could miss work but decided since it would be my last shift for a couple months I could get away with skipping it. I then somehow ended up in a local coffee shop waiting for my coffee to come out of a tube but the cups of coffee had gotten stuck (I really don't understand how in the hell my cup of coffee was coming out of a tube). I then realized I was actually at work, working at the coffee shop, and it was my job to fix the tube. They then made me sweep because I couldn't fix it. I then (actually) woke up, freaked out because I thought I had overslept, and looked at my clock to realize I had over an hour till I had to be at work. Though I was a little disappointed my dad hadn't actually come home which meant I had to walk to work.
    14. The Fourth Dimension...

At Sally's house. She had a pet seal on the roof but it fell off and got chased away by cats. I ran after it and followed it through streets until it caused a huge car crash. I came to a building and broke off the door on the way in. It was a really Eastern European/rundown, depressing sort of place where the girls that lived there were all eating this strange black and white, checkerboard cereal.

I went upstairs and all at once found myself in an Indiana Jones style crypt where what I can only describe as 4th Dimensional lights were flickering in and out of existence while this awesome professor guy was talking about them. I watched them happily be for a while while this guy narrated what was going on in a voiceover.

It doesn't sound cool when written, but I woke up really moved by what I'd been privelleged to see and for the rest of the day felt like I had some kind of tiny new insight into the Universe.

I was playing with marbles with a few people around me. Most people thought it was wrong to be doing that but we didn't really care.
I was in a room with people in cartoon character costumes.
That's all I can remember. Not much but better than nothing.
