    1. Harry Potter: Rithmatist

      by , 12-31-2013 at 08:15 PM
12-28-2013 -- I am Harry Potter, and while doing a Runescape herb run, I have discovered that I have the ability to bring chalk drawings to life, like in Brandon Sanderson's teen book The Rithmatists. I have been working on it for a while, and am finally starting to get it all working, and decide I am ready to start teaching it to my friends.

Hermione is getting nowhere, because she is just simply incapable of believing that chalk drawings can come to life ... it doesn't fit her view of the world, even if she can see the proof of it in my own attempts. Ron is getting slightly further, managing to make his small drawing of a butterfly float a little unsteadily by somehow crossing his drawing with wingardium leviosa, but it is a very limited success. Neville is turning out to be the expert of the group, quickly surpassing even me, as he manages to bring his chalk plant drawings to life. He is really something.

Flash forward in time a little bit, and we are running around, fighting off Death Eaters in a setting that seems very reminiscent of the Chinese Bakery dream I had which either never got entered, or perhaps was only a fragment. The location and feel seems to combine the Death Eater fight with more hints of Runescape, and just a bit of the whole spy thing from Covert Affairs (a show I just started watching today). I am doing an herb run while under heavy fire from the Death Eaters, next to a large building.

I suddenly see a large chalk-drawing pumpkin-like vine sneaking up on one of the Death Eaters from behind the building. Rather than come directly at him, it has grown to circle the entire building in just a few seconds, and pounces on him from behind, wrapping him in vines and somehow not just capturing him, but starting to take him over.

The scene is shifting to become more sort of the Calico Square in Knott's Berry Farm, as Neville's chalkling has kind of taken on a complete life of its own, and is grabbing real life plants, animals, and even people, and mutating them into a half-whatever, half-chalkling creature, creating a new species. Thankfully it seems to have a sort of a sense of morals. While it takes over any plants it wants to, the animals it takes over seem to be damaged or abused, so that it's new species may give them a better life, and it is leaving us alone, but only taking over, mutating, and controlling evil humans like the Death Eaters. We're still a little nervous about what Neville has done here.
    2. Runescape Falling Stars, Doctor Who, and the Kitchen Maze

      by , 12-24-2013 at 09:37 AM
11-27-2013 -- [Dreams are weird! Slept all night, many hours, dreamed almost nothing, or at least nothing I could remember. Was sitting in bed this morning, mostly awake and relaxing. Drifted off for a couple minutes, and had the following crazy, all-over-the-place dream that is longer and more detailed than almost anything I have dreamed for a week or two.]

So I am standing around at the Falador west mine, trying to do some mining when a blue structure that looks much like the TARDIS appears next to me, and several vaguely monkey-like aliens start spilling out of it like some sort of bizarre flash mob, and seem to be ready to attack me, except suddenly I hear this whistling sound getting louder and louder as a shadow appears on the ground, and everything shakes as a falling star crashes to earth right next to me. This thing is quite large, and I think it has to be at least a size 8 or 9. I run over to make the tag and collect the bonus xp when there is a second bang, and a small star (size 1 or 2) slams down right next to it. I am wondering if I am going to be able to collect the bonus xp twice. But as I try to touch the second star, things shift.

I find myself on a small, sandy hill, kind of sinking into the sand, trying to keep my balance, and as I glance at the mini map, I find I have shifted perhaps a quarter of a screen over, and start trying to make it back to where the two stars just landed, except something seems to be trying to keep me away. It's really weird. I finally manage to force myself back to the right spot, except the stars are gone, the alien flash mob is gone, and the blue TARDIS-like box has turned into a cross between a large robot suit and an astronaut's outfit. I'm kind of walking around it when a government agent who is dressed kind of like a 30s hard-boiled detective, and looks kind of Mel Gibson shows up. He thinks I am the alien who arrived in the suit, and is trying to force me back into it so he can lock me in it and cart me off to experiment on or something.

I am wrestling with him, trying to get away, while explaining that I am not the alien, when the truck that we are standing behind starts to move. He throws me to the ground, hopefully so that I will be unharmed as the truck passes over me, but since it is very close to the ground, he may just be trying to get me ran over. Sigh. But thankfully the truck only moves a couple of inches, then stops. I stand up and find myself standing next to what almost seems to be the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo, and as I turn, I see my online friend Maddie, who seems to be pulling a t-shirt over her head. "Hey, I'm almost nude, changing clothes here," she snaps at me, and I turn my back to her, while turning red.

A few seconds later she taps me on the shoulder and as I start to turn around, I find myself in a sort of maze of dark, narrow passages in what seems to be a food storage area in a sort of large restaurant kitchen. I am winding my way through shelves of food supplies and prep tables and the like, avoiding a slightly glowing yellow goo on the floor that I am trying desperately not to step in. Dangerous, icky stuff. I manage to walk out of the area backward, while still managing to avoid stepping in anything, and find myself in a large, wide open warehouse loading dock area that is still quite dark, but lights are just starting to flash on all over the place as people come running in trying to find out who has broken in and why.
    3. Three in a Night: Water Parks, Computer Games, and Lumbridge Rebuildathon

      by , 11-13-2013 at 07:48 PM
11-09-2013 -- [This one ties in with a dream from a few months ago that I am referring to as the Downtown Orlando Spy and Gun Event, which I know I dreamed, and wrote down, but I guess I never got posted because I can't find it anywhere. Hopefully that dream will also be online at some point. Meanwhile, this was the first dream of the night, and only barely remembered, so we'll see how much of it I can pull out of my mind now.]

I think this starts out as a typical being chased around a hotel by thugs or management dream, with a hint of Dale vacationing in Florida, as well. Think it goes on for a while, but not in any sort of detail that I can describe. Then it switches to where I find myself in a water park that is a sort of cross between the one just outside the entrance to the Magic Kingdom in more than one of my dreams, and the one that I sort of find after I make it back through the building in the gun and spy dream mentioned above. I am climbing up hillsides, then sliding down long, enjoyable water slides a few times, before I realize I have to go and pack or something.

It turns out we are staying in an odd Disney hotel complex where the hotels are kind of connected by water slides as one of the ways to get around. Somehow I have ended up passing through one of the hotels on the way back to the one where Dale and I are staying, and in the process, I have kind of half-stolen a couple of water bottles, and am hiding them in my pockets, like the gun in the previous dream. Am trying to to be seen with them, and not to be searched, and am kind of ducking into a sort of side canyon that reminds me of where you can pick the tail-feather off of the fire phoenix in Runescape, and am hoping to avoid problems. Meanwhile, I also find myself right at the mall entrance to May Company at some point, which just doesn't seem to fit in anywhere.

Anyway, it was a cool dream, and long and detailed, but I can't remember anything, so I guess it will have to go down as a fragment.

      ---

11-09-2013 -- We are is a sort of a courtyard which seems at times to be somewhere new, and at times to be the Church of the Nazarene parking lot area in Buena Park, or right by Carolyn's house in Orlando. There is a creature or force here that is kind of making us do things, though it isn't anything that we can actually see. One of the things I am being pushed to do is to build a tall block wall, which kind of makes me think of the Lumbridge rebuildathon. Anyway, whatever this thing is, it watches us and kind of spies on us (eventually with cameras) but the wall that it is making me build is at the edge of it's view or range, so it can barely see me, and I can take it slightly easier, and am considering climbing over the fence and going away.

I continue working on the wall, and at some point dad and some others are also here working on it. I find myself worrying about bills and wondering how to pay them while I am unemployed, and thinking that dad might give me some money to help out, but I don't really want to go that route. It's a bit of a quandary. I think there is a small bit about helping dad retrieve a bill that was dropped in some sort of underground sprinkler system or something, but it was a really brief bit. Somehow dad is soon taking me out for a McDonald's-style sundae at a fast food restaurant while Carolyn is calling me on my cell phone and trying to arrange to meet me to give me something.

I explain where I am, which is either across the street from the new wall at the church, or perhaps across the street from her house (with even hints of BAMs house), and she says she'll be there in a minute, but she never shows. I meant across the street from PCUMC, but I find myself wondering if she might have thought I meant her church, and may have gone there. She was on a lunch break from the school, so she may not have had much time. Meanwhile, I am now outside the wall, sitting in the street, eating my ice cream, but still worrying and wondering about whether the camera on the building can still see me.

Somehow things shift to finding myself entering a kind of battered class room and preparing to take a seat. There is a cute kitten that will approach me, which surprises me, because it won't let anybody else near it, since one of the students went kind of wild and started attacking the various animals. There is also a wild monkey here, and several other animals. The student who went kind of wild seems to be Riley from BtVS season 4. There is also a kind of pushy, weird version of Xander who seems to be trying to keep and hide either gems, or perhaps fruit in a box of candy. Xander wants it, and wants to keep it away from us, but it isn't his. Meanwhile, I seem to be pouring a sort of peanut butter drink into a tall, narrow bottle. Very strange.

      ---

11-09-2013 -- Starts on a sort of jungle island, where there are a few snakes slithering around, but not as many (and not as dangerous) as the usual dream. These are kind of calm and peaceful. This seems to be a sort of live action computer game cross between Risk and Pirates, and has tie-ins to many of my other dreams. We are kind of moving from the east to the west in a large chain of islands in the ocean. One island is two half circles connected by a small land bridge something like this (|=|) and even though we are approaching from the east, we land on the west side and make our way across the island and the land bridge to the east side. Reminds me of one of the islands in Warlords:Battlecry 2.

We continue further west and come to a long, slim sand covered island where we spend some time, and find that we're having some car problems. Somehow we are driving cars through the water between these various islands, and we have some issues. We're pirates, and we have to have kind of old vehicles, but one of the cars is a very new yellow sports car which just doesn't fit right. Another is a pick-up truck, which works well enough. The third is an old, beat up car that fits well enough. Problem is, it is seriously breaking down, and while we don't need to use all three vehicles, we certainly need two. The one car is really beyond fixing, but they are arguing about the sports car.

Finally I put on a sort of pirate t-shirt, and decide that shows I am a pirate enough, and just grab the sports car and start to drive it off, people diving for it to try and get in, or maybe stop me. Somebody flags me down and explains we have been invited to eat before we continue on, and they are leading us to a large buffet-style dining room with many lines that reminds me of the cafeteria at the Indiana Wesleyan University at the FCM conventions. Somehow I am a little leery, and refuse to eat immediately, though I do go through the line. The food is incredible, with some fabulous looking steaks, thick and juicy and cooked to perfection. There is also lots of other great food. Problem is, now there is a long line of people waiting, and since I didn't take food when I had the chance, I either have to stand in the line, or wait. So I take a seat outside and wait for the line to shorten again.

Eventually it is really short, and I go back in, but now almost all the food is gone. I am still able to fill a plate, but there are no steaks, none of the great food, just sides and stuff like mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. The best thing still available is a fairly bland pulled pork mix. I am hunting around the various tables looking for a clean plate, clean plasticware, and a clean plastic cup to get milk in, and wishing I'd served myself the first time through. Idiot!
    4. Dream Bits: Runescape, Disney, Balloons, and More

      by , 11-07-2013 at 08:40 PM
10-22-2013 -- In a strange, live version of Runescape with a bunch of other people, there is a sort of group or mob of enemies to fight, including some dragons, some weird lava monsters, and a bunch of other big, powerful enemies, and a group of about 20 of us are getting ready to take them on. We start fighting against them, but the battle isn't going too well for me at first. I am trying to fire magic at them, but at first I am too far away. Eventually I make it close enough, and am close enough to manage some decent shooting at them, but soon I find I am running out of magic and energy, and my shots are doing no good.

The others with me continue firing, and for a while are doing well, and managing to damage the enemies, but soon they are also running out of magic and energy, and are starting to die to the opposing forces. Soon we're standing around discussing how we probably all want to get another 5 to 10 combat levels before we bother trying again!

Somehow things then shift to the House of Imports, where I seem to be working a shift, even though it is modern times (I worked there more than 20 years ago). My shift should have ended after 10 hours, but I realize I have been working more than 14 hours, and am probably going to be yelled at, so I better get my butt in gear and get clocked out. The dealership is quite busy, with a bunch of people looking through the showroom, and crowding the short stairway down to the lower level where the time clock is, so I rise a few feet into the air, so that I am just above everybody's heads, and fly down to the time clock to clock out. Nobody seems to notice or care, and it doesn't seem like a big deal to me that I can fly, either.

      ---

10-17-2013 -- [Unfortunately couldn't remember much even when I dreamed it, then waited four days before entering it in, and now even more is missing. Oh well.] Somehow I am wandering around at a school or a store, slight hints of department stores at malls or perhaps Marshall. Wherever it is, I find myself wandering into a bathroom, and am trying to find a clean, stocked stall to use. Could even be in a locker room at a pool. Soon I find that I have just boarded a bus, and am trying to pay my fare. Unfortunately, I have dropped my change everywhere, and have to bend down and scrabble for my coins.

Eventually I find myself in Disneyland, walking from the hub down Main Street, heading for town square, same area I have been walking through in a lot of dreams, recently. I pass Sharon H. and am heading for the corner shop next to the magic shop which had collectible plates and figurines and things in the last dream here (yesterday with a lot of AC stuff in the dream) and for some reason my pants are too large and keep trying to fall down around my ankles.

I reach the store, and am just kind of standing around, talking with Dale. Nothing too big or exciting, just chatting. But as we are watching, one of the people working in the shop seems to be putting together balloon decorations and placing them around the store. Thing is, she is using some unusual balloons, rounds, odd shapes, very strong colors, and occasionally other things. One sculpture that almost seems to be a Star Wars creation is topped by what seems to be a small white garbage can, but it fits perfectly and looks just like whatever it is supposed to be. There are other figures that look like they are made of gold balloons, but unlike most gold balloons, these are so strongly colored that they almost give the impression of being solid gold, though they aren't.

Another creation is actually a very impressive model of Aladdin's Genie, but this one is obviously made out of blue balloons. They are wandering around the interior and exterior of the store, putting these things up in various places as displays, and decoration, and they look very good and Dale and I are both quite impressed with them.

      ---

10-16-2013 -- I am running around Rosemary's place, and oddly enough I find that I can get my voice back as long as I am speaking in a slightly deeper voice. I find I can sing as well, as long as I deepen my voice from my previous tenor to a nice, strong baritone. I end up running around the place able to finally talk and sing and make myself be heard, but it does make my throat slightly sore, and I find I am a little worried about it. Soon, following the suggestions of others, I decide to go visit the doctors.

I soon find myself at a cross between the Doctor's office that Terry and Grace used to run, and a dream clinic that I have frequently visited, wandering into areas that guests aren't allowed in, but that I had been invited into by Terry, Grace, and Kathy in the past. The problem is, they no longer work here, and the doctors that do are a little unhappy about me wandering around ... though not enough to actually say anything.

      ---

10-16-2013 -- Out on a long cross country road trip with Chris Vopat, where I am riding in the back of his pickup truck. This is bad enough for the long trip and the distance we're traveling, but it becomes even worse as a volcano a few miles away erupts and starts shooting lava down its sides and hot ash into the air, which is quick to ruin the air quality even where we are, a few miles away.

      --

10-16-2013 -- At an Adventurers Club reunion type of thing, but it is not being held at the Club, which has long been shut down. I run into a couple of performers who seem to be doing some bits, but I have missed most of it, and have no clue what is going on. Then I run into BC, and she has been here for almost the whole thing, and mentions that Anne has been doing stuff from her odd version of the Vagina Monologues (see past dream here), which it seems she has now made a regular part of things whenever she is doing AC reunion stuff, which doesn't make any sense to me.

We sit and discuss this, but more and more as we talk, I find myself thinking of taking a trip to California and visiting with Dale. Somehow he is here for a visit, or perhaps only just left, and I am really in the mood for a visit to California since I haven't left the state in something like a decade. I am not sure how, but I know somehow I can get there. But I have no money for tickets to the park. I am trying to think of ways I can sneak in (possibly involving friends on the monorail), but then I remember that Keith works there, and he can probably sign me in a couple of times, which should solve that problem.

Somehow thinking about that brings it about, and I suddenly find that I am in Disneyland's Frontierland area, walking back toward New Orleans Square and Critter Country. As I walk along, I see a couple of Adventurers Club performers, either on their own, or perhaps working streetmosphere, and I am thinking it might be fun to go watch them sometime. Meanwhile, I find myself walking into a western-themed restaurant that, for some odd reason, serves egg drop soup from large bowls.

Turns out Dale has been debating trying the soup for ages, but he is never brave enough to do so, and I am kind of pushing and encouraging him to give it a try, but he really isn't sure he is willing to do so. I give up, and am about to wander off and go walking through the park, when a large group walks in. They are mostly women, just a couple of men, and though I can't identify specific people, it seems to be a group from Pine Castle. They are playing a strange game to choose a person, something of the nature of Rock, Paper, Scissors, but completely different. They have wandered in and surrounded me at the exact right time for me to win, and since I won, I am expected to provide small presents for everybody, but I have no money, no gifts, and they are all kind of disgusted with me. Doesn't seem fair, since I never asked to be a part of their game.

      ---

10-13-2013 -- I am somewhere that is halfway in the midwest somewhere, and halfway in England. I'm walking down the street on foot while a friend is on a skateboard, or perhaps a bike. In the street is a police car, and a cop is just stepping out of it and is keeping an eye on us, but he isn't actually doing anything, so we just try and ignore him. I head down a street that seems to be a cross between a hill in Omaha, and Dale in Buena Park. I reach about the point where Athenian Burgers was, and find Carl and Mary Baumer there. They seem to be thinking about treating me to a meal.

Instead I find myself walking down La Palma (or perhaps Orangethrope, or some random street in Omaha) discussing job possibilities. I am kind of down and depressed, and Carl (who is slowly turning into dad) is trying to cheer me up. He asks the guy who has given me a place to stay (should be Joe Lane, but is strangely looking like Marv Goodwin) what he thinks, and Marv says that I am probably going to fail at everything, but yeah, I ought to try, anyway. Dad is about ready to kill him, but Marv just drives away on his fork lift. So we walk on down to the corner, and I seem to be on the southwest corner, at Magnolia and either La Palma or Orangethorpe, but as always for Buena Park, my compass is off.

Anyway, dad leads me to what seems to be a cross between a truck yard, a warehouse, and an office building (feels a lot like the TAMS property), where he does their tires, and has contacts, and is sure he can get me a job. But they turn us down. He's a little upset, and we cross the street to a corner shop that is a cross between a restaurant and a liquor store, where dad sits down at a picnic table out of the way on the side of the building to have a cigarette. He's out of breath because of the smoking, and I'm out of breath because of my weight, and there are some toughs who are being slightly threatening, but don't really care enough to be serious about it. I'm not sure but it is possible that Paul and Irene Broden come by after that and buy me dinner at the Chinese restaurant.
    5. Runescape and Doctor Who Quest Leads to Phone Problems

      by , 08-10-2013 at 03:58 PM
08-10-2013 -- Kind of a cross between Doctor Who and a Runescape quest, though much more has faded than I would like. Sigh. Anyway, early on there are some bits where the 10th Doctor is running around, but eventually he seems to more or less disappear, though somehow he is still speaking to me and giving me advice as things continue, some sort of mental connection. He may be in danger, or perhaps I am. I find myself in a large building, wandering around, and trying to get things done.

Somehow I have this giant flute, sort of. It is about five or six feet long, and kind of hard to play. It has five or six holes in its length that allow the playing of five or six notes, and I know I am supposed to play all the notes in order as part of the quest. But it is so big, it is kind of difficult to get it to play the notes, and takes a lot of air. I manage to play the first four notes fairly easily, but the fifth note is very difficult, and I seem to be getting nothing but air. It is also getting harder and harder to hold the thing, and I am finding it more and more difficult to remember which end to blow in, and it keeps trying to roll over in my hands, and can't be played if it is upside down.

I finally manage to blow enough air to get the fifth note, and continue on to the sixth, which takes the same hard work, and as I finish blowing, a small, glowing ball of 'stuff' pops out of the end of the flute. Something jamming it up might be why it was so hard to play the last couple of notes. The ball is about two inches in diameter, and glows a light blue, and seems sort of goopy if you get what I mean, when I kind of scrape off the goop I am left with almost a small sort of amulet or medallion with a sort of a logo or crest on it, and it is the new crest that I have earned to represent myself with the finishing of this quest.

I soon run into Dale, who seems to have been working on the construction skill, because he has built a large new home, but is worried because he hasn't built any furnishings for it, though he has decked it out with tons of flags and banners and some pennants showing his colors, crests and accomplishments. I get a whisper from the 10th Doctor that I ought to see about adding some new flags and pennants to my rooms making use of my new crest, and Dale is a little hesitant about this, not knowing anything about this odd Doctor Who quest that has somehow found its way into Runescape.

We seem to be discussing this at church in Buena Park, and I am guessing a service has just gotten over, because we are in the process of leaving, and dodging around slow moving people who are just standing around talking. When I reach the parking lot, I find myself approaching my Jimmy, which is pulling a small trailer, along the lines of one a landscaping company might use. It seems I am not used to pulling it around, because my parking takes up not two spaces, which I would expect, but four (2x2), because I couldn't get the trailer straight.

I load up and start to drive out of the parking lot, but I seem to have sat my red cell phone on the roof of the truck as I was climbing in, and forgot it there because while I am driving out the driveway along the side of the church, it falls off the roof and comes apart as it hits the ground. I curse to myself, put the vehicle in reverse, and back up 10 or 15 feet to where it fell off, and get out to pick it up. I find a bunch of people are standing around in the road just chatting and talking, and one of them is a slightly odd looking fellow, looks like the young teep with the thin mustache from Babylon 5, the one who looks slightly odd. He is fiddling with my phone and trying to tell me how badly I broke it, and he gets mad as I take it away from him.

It has sprung apart, and inside it looks more like a hard drive or something (with the ribbon cables and things) and it seems he has been twisting and wrapping the cable in odd ways that couldn't have happened in a simple fall like that, and has been messing the phone up far worse. He seems to think because I dropped the phone, he has a right to take it and do what he wants with it, and I don't have any right to pick it up again and try to fix it. But I take it, straighten out the ribbon as best I can, and try to fit it back together. It isn't perfect, there are now a couple of cracks where things don't fit together as perfectly as they used to, but it stays together pretty well, and starts up when I turn it back on, though there are some glitches on the screen that remind me of the night it fell in the toilet, before it dried out inside the next day. Still it seems to be working all right.

I climb back into the truck (which somehow involves having to pull it down from where it is floating perhaps 10 feet in the air, so I have to drag it down far enough to climb in) and am trying to situate myself and get it in gear, all while holding the phone in my hand. I manage to get in and get moving, and turn out of the parking lot onto Page. As I am driving along Page, this crowd of people stays with me, and the punk who wants the phone keeps trying to get it from me while riding along in his wheelchair. Somehow the damaged phone has half turned into a damaged room to the truck, which no longer fits tightly, so he keeps sticking his hand in and trying to steal the phone from me. He is annoying me enough that I half try to run his wheelchair off the road.

Soon I turn onto Stanton, and am heading toward the Buena Park Mall, just moving along, when suddenly we are all walking rather than driving, and as I feel my pocket, I realize my phone is missing again, and turn around just to see the same punk playing with my phone and trying to take it apart as bold as you please. I take it back from him yet again, remind him it isn't his, and he doesn't have the right to steal it from me, and give him a spanking to try and get the idea across!
    6. New Dungeon Turns into Star Trek Ride or Walkthru, Followed by Walking Thru Disneyland

      by , 07-25-2013 at 02:02 AM
07-24-2013 -- There are hints of the new graphics from Runescape 3, or an improvement of the graphics in Roller Coaster Tycoon to allow a stronger black and prevent light leaking into dark rides, but not enough details to say there was more than a hint of them. What I do know is that this started as mostly some kind of game, with just a hint of real life, and quickly shifted to being entirely real life.

I am exploring a building somewhere, and find a secret passage or something, leading down into a deeper level of dungeon or catacomb, or whatever it might be, and am commenting on the great textures and looks of the very dark, rocky walls. The paths leading deeper down look much like mine tunnels, without the bracings, though there is also a hint of a dark, rough metal, in the walls of a spaceship. It is a maze of passages, great stuff, and there are some others here who have found the same secret entrance that I have (or perhaps others) and are wandering around, and there is a hint of the forbidden ... that this is an area we aren't allowed in, but have found our way into, anyway.

I keep wandering around, occasionally finding small, almost hidden branching passages that take me even deeper into this maze of passageways, while others comment on how I might get myself in trouble, but it seems like they are jealous that they can't find the hidden passages as easily. Oddly, for what seem to be dark, deep cave-like passages, there are things like restrooms and dressing rooms carved out in the depths, and I am half considering sharing a restroom with an attractive lady I see entering one. Instead, I put it out of my mind. Soon the cave passages are more and more coming to resemble passageways on a very dark (in coloring) space ship, and I eventually find myself in a sort of locker room / wardrobe where there are hundreds of Starfleet uniforms in various colors and styles, representing the different levels of star ship officers, and all kinds of other jobs not directly relating to Starfleet, but still seen in the various Trek shows.

I look around, and want a uniform, but I know there is almost no chance they have anything in my size. (I'm a huge guy.) So I walk off, disappointed, though moments later, a red uniform shirt like Picard or Riker wore just appears on me. As I continue to wander around, I run into more and more people, some in regular clothes, others who have also found the locker room, and have assumed uniforms. I feel slightly out of place, wondering if I have the right to claim a captain's uniform, but generally just act like I belong. Some of the people I run into are just wandering around, enjoying themselves, while others are role-playing. Some want to fight with people, dressed as the occasional hairy Trek monster, or more powerful intelligent races. One attacks me, and expects to defeat me and take my uniform, but I am wearing gloves covered in hair, like from the abominable snowman or bigfoot or something, and it gives me the power to defeat him, even though he is wearing gloves that can conduct an electrical current into his enemies.

Soon I run into Adrian Monk (it is Monk, not Tony), who is wearing one of the yellow captain's uniforms from the original Trek, and complaining about little nit-picking details about every other person he runs into. This one has the wrong number of pips on his uniform. That one is wearing the wrong pants. A Vulcan wouldn't speak like that. A Klingon wouldn't be caught dead in that color. The type of tiny things that would drive Monk crazy, or that a fan obsessed to a ridiculous extent would write letters to complain about. He starts to complain about something about my uniform, so I strip the shirt off, just to find that underneath it I have on the original Trek yellow, and Monk just has more to complain about. So I just start to walk away from him. But oddly, I could swear I know him from somewhere. Somewhere Disney, not from Monk.

About this time, I am slowly starting to make my way back out of the wealth of catacombs, and I run into a young woman with short blonde hair in a yellow shirt, almost a dead ringer for Tasha Yar. At first she thinks I am somebody she knows, and she starts to flirt with me. Then she realizes I am not who she thought, but still continues to flirt so I pick her up in my arms and start carrying her bridal-style, to the annoyance of her companion, who, for the moment, is also dressed in yellow, but who I recognize as Joy from the Adventurers Club, and she doesn't seem to like me, which surprises me, because I always seemed to get along with Joy. Now she is wearing the French Maid outfit, and the girl I am holding in my arms is another French Maid, though one of the ones near the end that I didn't know. Still cute, though. I comment on the outfit, commenting I don't recall anything like that ever being a Starfleet regulation uniform, and Joy makes a derogatory comment, something along the lines that she hates role players. (Seems sort of hypocritical to me.) I make another Trek reference, and she pulls her companion from my arms and drags her off in a huff.

As I finally make it out of the complex, I find myself exiting into Tomorrowland. It seems this is a new ride / walk-through that isn't actually supposed to be open yet, but I seem to have wandered into a soft opening or something. I head out, planning to do some wandering through the park, but I haven't been to Disneyland in several years (except for backstage at the Golden Horseshoe in a dream a couple of days ago), and I am really shocked when I reach Main Street. They seem to be doing one of the months-long themes like they have done in the past (ie Circus Fantasy, State Fair) but this one is a sort of cross between mafia, prohibition, and the roaring twenties, but very dark and oppressive. There are still lights on Main Street, but there is something oppressive and evil about them, it looks more like the red light district in Amsterdam than the wholesome looks of Main Street USA.

There is still streetmosphere, but instead of characters and barbershop quartets, it is more like gangsters, gang members, and the worse kind of flappers hanging on their arms, guns plainly visible. It is just the wrong atmosphere entirely. I try to wander over by Coke Corner to see who is playing the piano, and it is a dark haired female playing some dark jazz. Not sure, but it might have been Carol Stein. I find Main Street to be tremendously depressing now, so I try to continue on to Adventureland, and at the entrance, I run into three people from the Adventurer's Club, doing some kind of skit out in the streets, and I realize they must have a banquet in the Club or something. I think the three are Tim, Karl, and Philip, dressed in the old costumes for Fletcher, probably Otis, and Emil, and I suddenly recognize that 'Monk' earlier had been Philip dressed up and role-playing as Tony Shalhoub's character in Galaxy Quest. They are doing something that seems to involve putting together several 10 foot long sections of pipe and using them as a straw or something.

As I try to move into Adventureland, I find the entrance is blocked off for refurbishing, so I have to detour through Frontierland. As I am doing so, I run into one of the Hathaways I don't know, and am amazed to find we are wearing the same bright green pants. Odd ... I could have sworn I was wearing black pants when I was in the Star Trek uniforms. I continue into Frontierland, just to find that almost the entirety of Frontierland, Adventureland and New Orleans Square are closed down for refurbishing, including the entire building that houses the Golden Horseshoe Revue, which leaves me wondering about my new job there. [See dream from last night.] The Rivers of America are quiet, with both the Mark Twain and the Columbia sitting there, unused, in a sort of dry dock, and as I continue on, the first thing I find is actually open is the Haunted Mansion, just beyond the French Quarter of New Orleans Square. I try to cut through the French Market restaurant, to see if I can get back to the Club (which I guess has been moved here and located right between the Treehouse and Pirates), but it is blocked off there, too.

I am getting annoyed and tired, and end up taking a rest on a hand railing (very gently, don't want to cause it any harm), but one of the cast members starts to glare at me. Somehow this ends up in his pointing out a security camera to me, and me pointing out another one to him, and our getting into a competition to see who can find more of the somewhat hidden cameras quicker. He is soon amazed at how many of them I can point out to him, and I explain I can half-sense them, and half spot a bit of reflection off of the lenses. I mention that I couldn't spot any of them in the new Trek walkthrough, though, and theorize that might be because of how dark it was. (Never mind the cameras are easier to see in the dark, with those purple lights they have.) Somebody who was just walking past us says "Is that open now? I thought it was still a ways away." I mention the soft opening, and that the first day or two you can get a free Starfleet uniform, and he goes running off toward tomorrowland, while I wake up.
    7. Dream Fragments: Third Rock, Stream of Consciousness, Mostly One Night

      by , 07-25-2013 at 01:57 AM
07-24-2013 -- [Bad night for sleeping, great night for dreams. Lots of bits or fragments, but more memorable than usual. Going to take this all in order to paint a full picture of the night. First dream of the night was long and involved, but mostly gone, since I never woke up to write it down, and it was mostly replaced by the second dream. Yet I can remember bits of it.]

I was still being helped by Carl in regards to the whole homeless situation, though things were complicated by the fact that he was becoming homeless, as well. There were hints of the tribulation period, and being chased and pursued, partly by marked men, partly by demons, but not nightmare-scary, just interesting. At one point hiding in a cross between a shopping mall and a hotel. I am invisible, watching the situation, while there are two children in the hotel room. One the bad guys know is there, the other they don't, and I am trying to use whatever power I might have to kind of blind the bad guy to the child he doesn't know is there, who is currently more or less in plain sight, but trying to move into hiding behind a couch without being seen.

      -

[Second dream was the detailed Dungeon Becomes Trek Ride at Disneyland dream, which is being posted separately as it was a full dream by any measurement. After I dreamed it, I woke up and jotted it and the above fragment down. After that, I tried to go back to sleep, but wasn't succeeding. Proceeded to drift in and out of sleep and dreams, leading to fragments, stream of consciousness, and some weird stuff.]

I find myself taking part in a very strange version of Third Rock From the Sun. I am the alien, coming to observe Earth and learn about it. I am not fully here, yet. I am non-corporeal, just a spirit, almost a ghost. I am invisible to most, though the more time I spend around a person, the more they can begin to kind of catch me out of the corner of their eye. I am watching over the house I am going to live in, which seems to be a blend of houses I have really lived in, watching my soon-to-be roommates, which include Drew Cary (who may own the house), Sally (from Third Rock), and the slightly Indian fellow who used to share the Pageant house with us. So I am hanging out in the house, and Sally is the first to start to notice me, as she begins asking the others "Is it my imagination, or is there a guy watching us?" With her pointing me out, the others slowly start to see me, too.

They try to communicate with me, but I have no physical body yet, so no vocal chords, and I cannot talk to them, but they really want to communicate. Eventually they are trying to get me to do charades, and I am thinking to myself 'this is ridiculous,' and figure I might as well be even more ridiculous, so I start shaking and spasming, and go into receiving mode for getting a message from the Big, Giant Head. Except no message comes, instead I just pass out.

Since I have no body, they can't move me, so when I wake, I am still lying face down on the floor where I passed out. But somehow Drew had the bright idea to stick a bowl full of Vodka (or some kind of hard liquor) in the same space as my head, and in the time that I was laying there, I somehow slowly absorbed some of the booze. With no mass to dilute it, whatever little amount I somehow absorbed has got me completely plastered. So I am now this drunk non-corporeal spirit, wandering around this house. And it seems I am horny when I am drunk. I wander into Sally's room, and find she is having a sleepover, and has two other attractive women in her bed with her, all in pajamas.

As I am drunk and horny, I keep trying to feel up the three of them, and even though I get nowhere, I am having a good time. I am annoying them, though, and they are telling me to get lost, so eventually I wander off. But there is a method to my madness, and I figure if I wait a little while they will fall asleep, and then I can come back and crawl into bed with them, and sleep in the middle of them, and even if I have no physical body to feel with, it will still be pleasant to wake up in the middle of them.

      -

Something about a mixture of the Hornet and Hosanna Printing, but no details. Then I find myself driving down I-4, but very very tired, and I keep drifting into sleep and waking up again. Very dangerous. I am approaching downtown, driving with both my feet resting up on the dash, which makes it very hard to apply the brakes when needed. Especially since the car isn't large enough, and it is very difficult to first get my feet off the dash, then over the center console, to get them back down by the pedals, so every time I need to brake, it is less and less likely that I will be able to do so.

At one point I am drifting to the right, and pushing against a tractor trailer. The mass of my car or truck (no idea what I am driving, though the dash thing seems like the Jimmy) isn't doing a thing to the truck, but it's driver is glaring at me. We are approaching the downtown area, and one of the off ramps that forces a lane off the freeway (probably the South Street exit) and I think I have gotten far enough over that I won't be forced off, and I can't help but drift off again. I guess I was wrong, because when I wake again, I am barreling down the off ramp at high speed, approaching a stop light and heavy traffic. I am struggling to get my feet down to the brakes again. Even as I start to apply the brakes, I don't know if I will make it, so I also turn in to the parking lot of the dry cleaners on the right side of the off ramp, which gives me enough extra space to stop.

So I am now in the parking lot, and am preparing to move back onto the highway, but there are bookcases just standing there in the middle of the lot, blocking the exits. I am moving them just enough to make enough space for my scooter to fit through, so I guess the car or truck has disappeared. Am about to climb back on the scooter and leave, when I spot my marmalade cat, Sammy. [Cat I had when I was a kid.] Sammy is supposed to sit on my shoulder and dig his claws in, so he can safely stay with me on the scooter, but it seems he can't stay awake either, and keeps sliding down to my lap, and if he does that while we are riding, he will fall off, probably die, and even if not, I will lose him.

I am trying to explain this to him, and get him to stay awake, when he tells me he doesn't want to ride the scooter, he wants to ride the full-blown motorcycle. [Yes, my cat is now talking to me.] I ask him what motorcycle, and he reminds me of one that I got in another dream, recently. I can't remember the dream he is mentioning, either in the dream or awake, but yes, I can vaguely remember a motorcycle, but I have no idea where it is. He tells me that I left it parked at the First Church of the Nazarene, so I guess we have also shifted from Orlando to Buena Park. Obviously I realize I am dreaming to some extent, but not enough to register what it means.

      -

Suddenly I am standing in a room with three beautiful women, a tall blonde, a tall redhead, and a shorter brunette. The blonde may be Sally (3rd Rock), the shorter brunette may be Lucy Liu, no idea who the redhead is. I am referring to them as angels, though I have no idea if that is real angels or Charlie's Angels (Lucy Liu, after all) or some other sort of angels ... no idea. But whatever they are, I am thanking them for somehow saving my life, and trying to show that thanks by giving them all sensual massages as they stand there in lingerie.

I am trying to talk them out of what little they are wearing, and into a shower for even more relaxation, and they try to tell me it is not necessary, yet moments later all four of us are in the shower, nude, under the warm water, as I run soapy hands all over their luscious bodies, and they moan in pleasure. At this point, I am fully here, and they are about half corporeal, so there is a sense that this ties in slightly with the Third Rock fragment above, which is why I think the blonde might be Sally. Meanwhile, I am greatly enjoying the caressing, but I have to be careful to avoid caressing one of Lucy Liu's buttocks, as she has a massive bruise there, and it hurts if I caress that spot. Very nice!

      -

Somehow I am standing at the counter of a convenience store ... in Ohio, I think. No idea how I got there, but I don't think Ohio is all that near the national border. Somehow I am being given a dollar in change, perhaps from a very small winning lotto scratch-off or something. I just don't know. At first I think they are giving me too much money, because I have at least two quarters, and what looks like a 50 cent piece, plus several more coins, but then I start looking at the coins, and realize that isn't a 50 cent piece, though it may be a 50p coin. Several of the other coins are foreign coins, including Canadian and Chinese, or plastic coins, or bits of metal, in one case a washer, and oddest of all, a cheap womans' watch. So I am figuring I have been shorted. But then I count all the actual American coins I have received, and it adds up to 99 cents, and I decide that all the other stuff has to be worth at least a penny, so I don't make a fuss.

I am feeling a little hungry, and I spot a bag of something very like Crackerjack, but not, and I decide to buy it. I lay it on the counter, and pull out a debit card, because I don't want to go through the coin nonsense again. Problem is, they ring it up and quote me a price of over three dollars, and the extra is for using the debit card for such a small amount. I refuse, saying no way am I paying over a dollar extra for that. They say it isn't a dollar extra, it is only 20 cents extra, and that was an accident, it should have only been ten cents, but it rang up twice. I look at the package, which is now marked something like 2.19, and still refuse to pay -almost- a dollar extra. They say they will refund the ten cents, but I refuse, take my card back, and hand them a $10 bill.

They start giving me hundreds of bits of paper as my change. A few bills are actual American currency. Others are cheap counterfeit bills, or IOUs, or foreign bills in yen, and rubles, and pounds and francs. Some claim to be American money, with pictures of American presidents on them, but the paper is very colorful, and in different sizes, like many of the other countries do. I am complaining about what I received, going through it carefully to try and see how much actual real American bills I have received, and somebody behind me in line is wondering why I am complaining, and saying I seem to have received more than enough. Thankfully, I don't have to lose my count to reply to him, as his wife tries to explain to him that counterfeit money isn't as good as the real thing.

By this time, the package clearly shows the price of the snack to be 2.99, and it always has, and I have seven dollars in real bills, along with all the other garbage, but I am still angry at being ripped off, and threatening to call the police, because I should be getting eight dollars in change. Which just goes to show, not only can numbers change randomly in dreams, but one's math skills also suffer, because 10-3 is not 8.

      ---

07-21-2013 -- Some guy is unfriendly to me in a parking lot, then I find myself trying to chase a lizard out of my car, and into a corner, where it ends up fighting with, and trying not to be swallowed by a snake. Soon things have morphed into the snake and lizard being in a high corner of the garage of the Hickory House, which is very dirty and dusty and filled with cob webs and spider webs. I blunder through one web, and end up getting bitten by a large spider, perhaps the size of a small tarantula, on the back of my hand. I am kind of trapped in webbing, and on my back on the ground, and am trying to get out of the way of several more spiders dropping from the ceiling, but I can't seem to move, so I may soon collect several more bites.
    8. Bus Driving, Kingslands, and Runescape Desert Quests

      by , 06-19-2013 at 04:21 PM
06-19-2013 -- [This may have all been one dream or two or three that kind of flowed together. Either way, it works, so I am listing it as one dream.] I am in Buena Park near the mall, trying to walk to McDonald's to get some food, and mom is here catching a bus, so I just stop to kind of say hello. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people here, and when the bus stops, I am caught up in the crowd and kind of forced aboard. I don't have quite enough money for the fare and am afraid of getting in trouble, but the bus driver doesn't even seem to notice, and isn't worried about it.

I end up standing at the front of the bus, holding on to the railing and talking to the driver, though I am afraid he is going to be mad at the distraction. But he is explaining how they now routinely have security people on the bus watching everything else, so all the driver has to worry about is driving, and he can manage to talk to the passengers easily enough. I'm just kind of soaking it all in, learning what I can since I will soon be a bus driver myself. We just drive along, talking, though in the back of my mind I know I need to get off the bus soon, since I never planned to get on in the first place.

But somehow at some point the driver changes, and it is now a kind of large black woman (think Ros from Night Court or thereabouts) who is very late on the route, (like an hour or more) and is really stressing out about it. She has been ordered to just drive as fast as she can without stopping to let passengers on or off, so she can catch up with the route, which means I'm not able to get off the bus for quite a while. She finally makes it to Bolsa (which IIRC was actually out toward the beach, but in the dream is somewhere down near the Mall of Orange), which has her back on schedule, and we're finally able to exit, but she seems to take great joy in telling me there are no McDonald's in the area to eat at.

So I get off the bus, and find myself wondering how I am ever going to get back to Orlando, especially since I am in Washington or one of the Carolinas (no idea how, dream switch) but I find myself standing outside a fenced in back yard and listening to voices I recognize. Turns out I have found myself standing outside the back yard of the Kingslands. I can hear Chyanne and Cheryl talking, and soon Chy's mom appears and is walking toward me to let me into he back yard. Oddly enough, there seems to be no house, but she leads me down a ladder or some stairs into what almost seems to be a sort of storm cellar, which is where they live, now.

There are several puppies around, jumping all over people and licking them, and part of the discussion is about how they just got the kids backs (somehow in the dream they were taken away for a while, because of the overcrowding in the cellar, but it seems the issue was eventually resolved), and so they are running around, too. Chy is talking about how it happened because they were put under some sort of curse, and she is preparing a ritual to break the curse. It requires building a fire in the fire place with 42 sticks, and I am helping to put the sticks into the fireplace. I've just got the last of the 42 in there when Shane (is that right? Been a while) comes up with more sticks trying to add them. I try to stop him, but Chy explains there needs to be at least 42 sticks, but more will not hurt.

After that is finished, Chyanne and Cheryl are getting ready to go to work, and they work as seers, trying to tell the future for folks. But they are being sent to work in a small desert community, an area very different from where they usually work. As they are getting ready, Joel arrives home, and he is complaining about how his work has been forcing him to work next to a shoe store for the last few days, and today he almost caved in and went binge shoe shopping, an addiction he has been fighting against, as it caused their last bankruptcy. We're trying to convince him he doesn't need hundreds of fancy pairs of shoes. Leave that for the women.

So soon we're off at the desert, where the seers are somehow trying to stop and capture a gang of crooks. The whole thing is turning into a live version of Runescape, and this is part of a quest involving a lost desert that is separate from the Kharidian desert. We have to capture these thugs and take them back to the Kharidian desert, where we'll help set up a new 'gang' to challenge the current ones in the desert. It seems kind of like a human version of the See No Evil quest, where you reestablish monkeys in the desert. I can remember bits of the sawmill Runescape dream I had, and I think that quest somehow helped lead to this one. I've already done these, but I am glad to help my friends in completing these quests as well.

Oddly enough, the person who is going to lead this new gang is John Barrowman, who is a new Runescape player, though he hopes to advance well in the game. But oddly, he took the acting job of leading this gang without realizing it was part of a Runescape quest, so I get to explain it to him. He's been given a script to work with, and I am glancing at it, and it is actually a sort of a Runescape encyclopedia, about three inches thick, filled with hundreds of pages of small print, explaining the entire history, content, and future plans for the desert storylines in Runescape.

There are two vans that are going to be used to transport the newly caught thugs back to the main desert, and John is driving one of them. Somebody from the Buena Park First Church of the Nazarene is driving the second one, and as we are getting ready to drive off, my friend Dale walks up. He explains he has been hired to be the 'security' person to keep an eye on the passengers for this trip. He also doesn't realize that this is all part of a Runescape quest, and I don't have the chance to tell him before we begin the trip.

So we're driving back to the main desert (or perhaps the Church in Buena Park, not sure which), and about halfway through the trip, Dale joins me in our van. He also has the big, thick encyclopedia, but he hasn't had any chance to read it. I am explaining how this is all a Runescape quest to both him and John Barrowman, and trying to get them ready for what is coming. I've been poking around in the thing, and realize that this quest will lead directly into the wonderful quest that I dreamed about a few months ago, that involve setting up the new gang, and in the process, infiltrating a temple in the desert, dedicated to sexual adventures. (That was a very pleasant dream, though I don't know if it ever got posted.) I'm thinking to myself that John will greatly enjoy that quest, and also probably be very popular in it, but I am wondering how much Dale is not going to like possibly being involved in the one and only x-rated Runescape quest.

We're nearly there (at the corner of Orangethorpe and Stanton, I think) when we have a blowout on the vehicle we're driving, and John pulls us into a service station where they can change the tire. The vehicle we're driving has changed from a van to either a bus or a big rig (or possibly one of those odd buses that is a big rig) and the thing is being jacked up very high to work on it. Oddly, though the blown tire is removed easily, getting the replacement tire on the rim seems to involve having all the new thugs hold the tire against the rim, and then run it as hard and as fast as they can against a wall, trying to force the tire onto the rim. Very odd method of trying to do it.

      ---

06-19-2013 -- [Almost forgot this one, then it popped back into mind.] I find myself at Fullerton College in the 500 building, in a very weird situation. It is half college, half high school. I am both attending the school as a student, and getting ready to do some teaching. Outside the building, I run into Julie Davey, my journalism professor, and she is both attending as a student and teaching as well.

Part of the high school thing is a daily class schedule, as opposed to the M-W-F and T-Th style schedules, and there is a math class that is first period, and I am hoping to make it on time and manage to pass the class for once, but almost immediately, I find myself with Julie as she is about to lead us in to a tour of the remodeled Hornet Newspaper office (I've dreampt of the remodeling several times, recently), except I look away for a moment and have fallen way behind, as she leads new students through different parts of the tour.

I am standing by Julie's office, while she is down the hall showing off the basic journalism classroom (518, was it?), before she comes back to the Hornet office (which is the expanded room 512). Though the main room of the Hornet is about the same size as always, the small rooms all have doors and are much larger than they used to be. Julie's office is also much larger. So somehow I am almost more of a visitor than part of the newspaper staff, and I don't know most of the staff, as it seems to be a new generation, but I am still hoping to end up doing some stories and full-page spreads, as I just kind of wander around the rooms.
    9. Mom Abusing, Dale Flying Home, Swimming in Carpet at JCP Warehouse and fragments

      by , 05-25-2013 at 06:43 PM
May 25, 2013 -- [Went to sleep at about 10:30, probably drifted away about 10:45. Phone records show I received the text message that half-woke me at 11:52, then drifted back to sleep and continued dream, actually waking around 12:05, so you could argue most of this dream actually took place on the 24th.]

I'm at the Hickory house and mom is beating up on me again [nothing like this ever happened in real life, but in dreams I have to deal with this frequently, the last couple of years ... my mom, who has been dead for 7 or 8 years, is battering me for no reason in my dreams, except that she is going crazy.] She is claiming that I have done something horrible to the cat, who has been gone for something like 15 years, now, and it is obvious she is nuts. I put up with it for a little while, but then warn her if she continues hitting me, I am going to have to fight back. When she won't stop, I hit her and throw her around just enough to make her stop hitting me.

The problem is, there are other people in the house, and I now have to try to explain things to them, so they don't think I'm a bully who beats up on women. Meanwhile, I am trying to walk out of the house, but as I make it out of the hallway and into the living room, there are two young, cute, Japanese anime-style school girls there, too young, but not dangerously so, at about 16-18, I'd guess. They are sitting there in short skirts and tight tops, school girl uniform type of things, sitting there, talking to each other. I stop to enjoy the view for a few seconds. One of them has dyed red hair and Japanese features, and has her shorts pulled aside to reveal her landing strip and slit, quite a distraction. She seems to be making out with the other girl and rubbing herself on her leg, and I really have to almost tear myself away to stop watching.

I walk out the door of the house to find myself in a sort of cross between a hotel and a shopping mall. I am meeting Dale here before he has to leave and fly home to California [Dale hasn't been here since November, don't know why all these dreams about him going back to CA the last few nights when he hasn't even been here ...]. I'm trying to explain about the situation with mom, and how she's kind of getting nuts as she gets older, but he's really running late, packing very messily, and running out the door to try and avoid missing his plane, so he isn't really listening.

I follow him out the door, calling for him to slow down, and quit moving like a giraffe on those long legs, and find him near the exit (half hotel, half theme park, now), talking to a guy he's run into that looks very familiar, but I just can't quite recognize him. [Looking back at the dream now, he looked a lot like Biff Tannen, the bully jock from the Back to the Future movies, with a hint of Truman's 'best friend' from The Truman Show thrown in.] I just realize I probably vaguely recognize him from some movie, and am about to ask him what I recognize him from, but Dale has run off again, so I have to hurry to catch up.

I find him in the parking lot, just climbing into his rental car, and I ask him, did he pack everything? Does he need anything? He tells me that his new cell phone from Publix works really, really fast, and he's really happy with it. He also tells me he would really like me to make him a copy of some sort of DVD I have a some Disney stage shows (probably stuff I filmed using his camera) and the friend he is now with (who I don't know) also says he would like a copy. He runs off, and I suddenly find myself working a shift in the J.C. Penney warehouse.

[Somewhere about here, I was half-woke by a text on my cell phone, which I assumed was probably from Dale (it was, btw), but I just drifted back to sleep and back to the dream, which may explain a little of what is to follow.]

I find myself sort of flying around, working up at the loading docks where stuff is taken off the trucks and put on conveyor belts, then dropped from about 20 feet up, and we have to catch them, sort them, and put them on pallets. (In real life this would injure people and break stuff, but in dreams, I've had several like this in the last couple of years.) Annoyingly, I am not handling the regular stuff, but damaged returns, so instead of getting a box full of items, I am getting one of this thing, one of that, and I have to sort them into boxes with like items, making far more work, and they keep sending more and more stuff on the belts, and I am getting further and further behind, but they refuse to slow down. Soon there is so much stuff that it causes the entire system to collapse, with stuff scattered all over the place, the conveyor belt falling apart around me, and a very large flat screen TV hitting the ground and cracking open.

There is a young punk manager here, and though the whole thing is his fault, he tells me he is going to place all the blame on me, and I am going to be fired for this, and I am just thinking this is so unfair, and wishing they had hidden cameras out on the floor to catch him bragging about how it was his fault, but I am going to take the blame, but I know they don't. No fair! Meanwhile, some of the broken crates that have fallen seem to be stuff of mine that I have packed up and stored, and I now find myself running around, trying to gather my stuff together, including several bits of clothes that include old security uniforms I haven't worn in years.

By now I find myself out deep in the warehouse, among the tall racks of stock, all sorted on pallets and up in the air, except the space on the ground, the lowest rows, aren't filled with pallets, but all the associates' lockers, and as I am walking along, I spot one of them that has smoke gently rising from it. Something has caught fire. I am trying to call for help, and get somebody out here before things can spread, when I spot smoke rising from another locker a couple of rows away. And another. And another. There seems to be an arsonist running around, starting fires. There are several upper level employees running around trying to put them out, but I am helping out, acting as a spotter.

As they continue, I can't help but notice the floors we're standing on are not tile, or even stone (which would make even more sense), but there is a strip of carpeting, a kind of a blue-green carpet, running the width of the aisle, and the entire length of the warehouse. As I am standing there, pointing at another burning locker, I am kind of shocked to find another associate swimming up to me in the carpet. He splashes some water up at the locker and puts out the fire, and even splashes a tiny bit at me. I am really in shock. He is swimming along like he is swimming laps, but I'm just standing on it ... nothing but carpet, to me. "How can you do that?" I ask, but he refuses to tell me, darn it!

I can't help it ... I pull out my cell phone and start to text Dale and tell him what is going on in the warehouse, and I hope I will manage to catch him before he gets on his plane. As I continue, it slowly turns from a text into an e-mail, and I now seem to be typing on my laptop, which is easier, of course. But I am still getting annoyed because, though I can type quite fast (probably about 35 or 40 words a minute when I know what I want to say, even though I don't know how to touch type), there is a girl standing there, sending texts of her own, and she is somehow typing about 10 to 20 times as fast as me, which shouldn't be possible. In retaliation, I just start mashing the keys with both hands and even my arms, sending masses of complete gibberish to Dale, before I wake up.

[And the moment I wake up, I check my cell phone and verify the text that half-woke me was, indeed from him, and immediately started texting him about the dream he almost woke me from, but since I only just woke up, half of that text was also gibberish. ]

      ---

May 25, 2013 -- Somehow I have been visiting with Carolyn S., and was somehow even there last week when one of her sons (Carson, I think) graduated from elementary school [very odd, since all of her kids are already out of high school], though because of some sort of emergency or problem, Carolyn was not able to make it. She is very disappointed about this, and feels really bad about it. So when I am out doing stuff a couple of days later, and find myself in the right place at the right time, I decide to help out. I am somewhere in California, Garden Grove or Santa Ana or somewhere I know the major streets, but not well, and I realize I am really near Carson's school, so I decide to stop by and see if, even though the graduation has already happened, if there might be any more festivities Carolyn might be able to catch, to make up for missing the graduation.

As I said, the overall area is Garden Grove or something, but when the bus drops me off at his school, it is an exact duplicate of Peter Marshall. I approach the kindergarten playground and classrooms, and there are a lot of other people wanting to speak to somebody as well, so it is fairly crowded. But as I am walking up, I realize that it is Sunday, so nobody is going to be here. [Never mind that if graduation was last week, school is over for the summer, anyway.] I comment on this, and several others realize I am correct, and start walking away. I am about to join them, when I glance back at the class rooms. Not only are there people on the playgrounds, but I can even see them in the classrooms through the windows, so even though it is Sunday, people are still here.

I walk to the office, and find myself in a big line of people. I glance around, and there are five or six people working, and I remember when I was a kid at Marshall, and how there was only Ms Gurly and one teen working in here and managing everything. I can't imagine how they need so many people, now, but figure it must be much more record keeping because computers have made it so much 'easier' these days. Anyway, a couple of the people waiting in front of me in this huge line are pushy punks, and they start shoving me around a bit, until the staff gets angry, and orders us all to get out. They head out the door in front of me, and since they are now gone, I turn around at the last second and stay. Sine there is no more trouble, they let me.

I find myself leaning against the wall next to the door to the principal's office, and there is a meeting going on in there with a lot of people. Unfortunately the door is broken, and I keep bumping it open and having to apologize. Meanwhile, I am playing with a couple of nails sticking out of the wall, and find myself backing away from several large spiders. (Large as in large types, wolf spiders, or wood spiders, perhaps, not something like huge spiders. just like an inch or two long.) They tell me not to worry about the spiders, and nobody seems to care, though they creep me out a little.

Soon I finally have a chance to speak to the person in charge (who warns me they are still putting together the diplomas and mailing them out, and I can't collect it in person), and I say something like "I'm here on behalf of Carolyn S. Her son graduated a few days ago ... his name is ..." "Carson, yes. We were very proud of him ... such a shame what happened." "Wha?" "Oh, he went out and got drunk three days ago, and something happened, and now he is dead!" "But I just saw him ..." I continue to think ... four days ago! Oh no! Poor Carolyn. I am horrified. And about that time I wake up.

      ---

May 25, 2013 -- [Even later in the morning ... but most of this one is missing. There was even more of this one, before the part I remember, and I think it involved looking for a nice restaurant.] There were bits about eating, and maybe a hint of balloon twisting that I can barely remember, but then I find myself getting home at the Hickory house. Mom is being a bit of a pest, but nowhere near as bad as in the first dream of the night. Carolyn S. is also here, and it is several days after the second dream. I know I ought to tell her how sorry I am to hear about her son, and apologize for my visit to his grade school, but she is running out to door for a balloon gig of her own. But just as she is exiting, she mentions that Carson was asking about me, yesterday. Turns out he is fine, and the woman at the school didn't have any idea what she was talking about. Weird.

Meanwhile, I am walking to my second bedroom, and find that both the doors are open, and mom has been in there, messing with my stuff again. Darn it, I wish that woman would stay out of my room and leave my stuff alone! I walk in, and start glancing around to see what she might have messed with, and soon find myself playing some Runescape. It is half-live, half game, but I have no computer to play with. I soon find myself facing off against a huge troll or ogre, something along the lines of Bork, but not him. Problem is, I can't seem to touch him, but he sure seems to be able to touch me! Somebody sees me having problems, and calls over to me that the only thing he is weak to is the casting of bloom, but I don't have my druid pouch with me.

Luckily, I do have my first ever cell phone, my old silver Sanyo flip phone, and I pull it out of my pocket, and start flipping through it to see if I might have any sort of Runescape app. Luckily I find one that allows me to cast bloom by pushing the 2 key, so I wait for the creature to attack me, hold the phone at him, mash the 2 key a few times, and a bright light comes out of the phone, and starts to injure him. I have to wait a little while before he recovers enough to try again, and we do the same thing. This goes on 10 or 12 times, and I've beaten him down to about half health, but unfortunately, I'm almost out of prayer, so I am not going to be able to cast bloom anymore. So I am struggling with the app to see if there is any way I can access my Ardy cloak to recharge my prayer points, but so far I haven't managed it. [In actuality, I would probably need the Falador shield, rather than the cloak.]
    10. Online Games with Mom, Sailing in Cardboard, Flying Transports in the Desert, Fighting as the Doctor

      by , 05-21-2013 at 05:33 PM
05-21-2013 -- [As always, earlier bits MIA.] Playing some kind of computer game, might be Runescape, though very little matches up. There is something that recharges a talent or skill or such (like a prayer alter, or a summoning obelisk) and in some way I can keep track of exactly one person who uses the obelisk, knowing what else they are doing while they are online. The problem is, I'm not interested in following anybody who is currently online. But finally I see somebody it might be fun to keep track of. I think it might be Skilledman, but if it is, he is using a different character name at the moment, with many more Ss.

I am just about to follow him (think of it like sending the thoughts of a VIP in Roller Coaster Tycoon to the screen, so you know what he is thinking of your park) when my mom shows up. She got a membership to the game long ago, but she never got very far, but she has finally decided she wants to learn this part of the game, and asks for my help. So I follow her, instead.

She wants to get fully involved, but one part of the game involves folding up little model boats (five or six inches long) made out of cardboard that you kind of poke free from the pre-cut spots on the piece of cardboard they gave you when you joined. Since that was several years ago, mom admits she long ago threw out the sheet of cardboard, so we have to go looking around the world, trying to find a couple of sheets that somebody else has thrown out.

So mom is out searching one area, and I seem to be searching near a beach, along with a cute girl who is following my orders. I send her onto the beach to look for some of the boat cardboard, and she comes back and says she didn't find any. I am almost sure I saw some there, so go down to the beach, myself. Unfortunately, there is no small cardboard for mom, but I do come across a guy who has made a life-size boat (around the size of a small power boat, but more like a rowboat) made entirely of cardboard. When I ask him about it, he explains he belongs to a group that makes these, and he has sailed it all the way up from Miami. I'm wondering how the thing didn't disintegrate in the water. He invites me to join them the next time they go sailing, but I think it is not likely.

Meanwhile, we do manage to find one of the right pieces of cardboard for mom, and we are heading back to the meeting place in the desert. We rejoin a group that seems to be mostly women (I think I am the only guy here), and we have this sort of wagon train of several large barge-like vehicles that float in the air, and we use them to cross the desert. At least one of them is a large barge filled with our water supply. I am new to this group, and I soon discover they are being ordered about by a rather mean alien fellow that looks kind of like Trakis from Babylon 5.

He pushes around the girls, gives them orders, tells them what to do, and is probably using them to do illegal stuff. When he starts to choke one of the girls, I attack him, and am soon choking him while holding him up against a wall. We're very evenly matched, and neither of us can beat the other, but I am able to stop him from attacking the ladies. Instead, he gives us our latest orders, supposedly from the government, and sends us into the desert to steal something, and also gives us a new module to replace an old one that is supposed to let the FBI keep track of where we are and what we are doing.

He leaves, and I explain to the ladies that I believe him. I think the new module will help the FBI keep an eye on us. Unfortunately, I think he has been using them to steal stuff for him, and is now framing them, so the FBI will come after us, as he goes and finds a new crew to steal for him. I say we have to destroy this new module so we can't be tracked, and we do a little reading, and discover the thing would have to be submerged in water to destroy it. One of the girls goes slightly crazy, and tears a hole in the side of the water barge, and water starts spilling out as she pushes the new module into the interior. I'm thinking there had to be a better way to do that!

Meanwhile, we're scrambling to get the caravan moving across the desert, when I quickly find myself facing Trakis again, but things are shifting a little bit. I am the 10th Doctor, and one of the attractive ladies is my companion, and Trakis is being chased by what seems to be another attractive lady. He is a minor villain, but really fairly harmless, but you can't say the same for the alien that is chasing him. I urge them both into the TARDIS while I face this thing, and it is trying to spit some green slime on me. I'm not sure if this green slime will take me over, or just burn me, but either way it is bad news, and therefore I am a little nervous that, while I dodged the mass she spit at me, I did seem to get splattered with a few drops. I'm soon running again, trying to stay away from it.

I am not sure, but the thing attacking me at the end might be the monster I faced with the Doctor (as opposed to as the Doctor) in this dream last November.
    11. The Gauntlets of the Undead (New Runescape Quest)

      by , 05-12-2013 at 06:09 PM
05-12-2013 -- A Runescape / Harry Potter / Disney / NCIS dream. I seem to be involved in a major battle with Voldemort, except that it also seems to be a bit of a Runescape quest or something. While I and my friends are fighting against all the big bads, it seems that we've come across a treasure chest which we are looting. As we get the thing open, we find there are three sets of powerful gauntlets, a pair each that are red, green and blue. As we put them on, we find they make us more powerful, and bring back dead heroes to fight for us.

Of course the 'heroes' are kind of iffy ... at one point I find myself fighting alongside the shades of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Anyway, all these dead characters are brought back to life to fight with us in a sort of spirit form, which somehow lets them score hits pretty well on the bad guys, yet makes them very hard to touch. They have an appearance kind of like somebody wearing ghost robes (or maybe the ghost penguin) in Runescape. They fight for a while until they have used up all their energy, then they disappear, and are replaced by other dead 'heroes' that appear in their place, which make the gauntlets really cool things to have. Some of the 'heroes' are even past villains, but they are compelled to fight on our side, so at one point Maleficent-as-a-dragon is also fighting with us. Neat.

At one point we are visiting an old castle which is not likely to be interested in helping us, and we are talking to the very surly cook in the kitchen, who amazingly enough is willing to help us because at the moment the gauntlets are making one of our group's members look like the ghost of a dead princess who the cook cared for. He passes on the clue that we are supposed to call a very odd phone number. It is long, maybe 12 or 14 digits, rather than the 7 digits that an American phone number would be, and instead of dialing 1 - 1 for 11, or 1 - 0 for 10, we are supposed to push the '10' or '11' buttons. Very strange.

Anyway, I make the call on my phone number, and somebody answers after a few rings and asks me to please hold, and somebody will be on to sing to me in a few moments. It seems this is supposed to be a full voice quest, but they haven't got all the voices recorded and into the game, yet, so we have to call to be sung to. Soon a nice female voice starts singing a musical clue to us that gives us a little history and information for the quest, before telling us we've gone as far as we can go, and we'll now have to wait for the next quest in the series to be released to go any further.

Meanwhile, this fight is turning into something where we have been improperly roped in to help some sort of other government agency, and they have been working us really hard and treating us really badly, and Gibbs has just arrived on the scene and explains to the punks in the other agency that they are in big trouble. They have been treating Palmer the same way as the rest of us, but he is too new of an agent, and they aren't allowed to treat the newest agents so badly, so now they are in deep doo-doo.

We all head off walking through a shopping mall, me, the NCIS team, and my mom (oddly enough), and we are discussing a part of the quest that involves calling down hundreds of pigeons, and mom doesn't believe such a thing is possible, so she is going to try it to prove it wrong. Problem is, though she doesn't see them, I can see all the birds sitting up in the rafters and under the edges of the roof, and so I am expecting it when she suddenly causes a scene straight out of Hitchcock's 'The Birds'.

About the point the birds are starting to go away, singing starts playing across the mall loud speakers, and it is the clue we heard on the cell phone a bit ago, now released game-wide, and after they have heard it, Gibbs and mom both agree with our interpretation of back story, and the requirement to wait for the next quest to be released to go on. Then I wake up.
    12. The Demon Bar and Fighting Monsters

      by , 01-26-2013 at 06:48 PM
01-26-2013 -- [Bad night of sleeping, nothing but fragments.] I am staying at some sort of hotel or something, just a block or so from some place with a pool, and decide to go swimming. Walk over to the place and reach the locker room, only to find I have forgotten my towel and swim trunks, so I have to walk back to the hotel to get them.

I return to the place with the pool, and go back to the locker room, and get dressed for swimming, but when I get back to the pool I find out there are massive amounts of people around, hundreds and hundreds. There are so many people that they have to wait in line for a couple of hours to get in the water long enough to swim maybe a single lap. It just isn't worth it to bother waiting around. So I head back to the locker room.

The two locker rooms are very close, and while entering the door of one, you can see people standing there changing in the other, but I don't quite manage to catch on to the fact I am dreaming. I start to change back into my regular clothes, but somehow I have tons of money with me. It's all in small bills like it is tips or something, but still, huge amounts. I'm stuffing the stuff in my pockets, and it will all just barely fit, and two very tough looking guys seem to be talking about rolling me when I leave the place, so I'm trying to take my time.

By the time I exit the locker room, the place seems to be changing from a gym or a YMCA to something like a rather seedy looking bowling alley (albeit still one with a pool), and I spot a woman wearing a bikini that looks like the Princess Leia number from Jedi, and unlike many, I still don't really find it an attractive design. I slowly make my way to the door of the place, and out into the parking lot, really keeping an eye out for the toughs. I don't see them at first. Instead I see girls that work for the place directing traffic as it exits the parking lot, and I am beginning to feel safe.

Then I notice that those 'girls' seem awfully tall, and rather grim, and all seem to have very deep voices, and I begin to suspect they aren't girls at all, but the toughs waiting for me, and I decide I better go back inside and wait for a while. Somehow I have been resting my hands in my pockets, and when I take them out, one of the bills I had been carrying is stuck to one of my hands. It drifts to the ground, and I am thinking of picking it up, but somebody is following me, and I decide to ignore it. Too bad, I think it was a tenner. I hope the person who was following me is a good guy, and will pick up the money and give it back to me, but it doesn't happen.

I stumble back inside, and find the place is getting darker and darker as it gets later and later. And all the people are starting to look less and less like bikers and toughs, and more and more like demons and creatures and monsters. A couple of hours later, while I have sat there munching on some fries or something, and more and more people, including the staff have been muttering more and more about me under my breath, and it is now almost completely black, I decide I probably have to go, no matter what.

Some troll-like creature seems to want to pick a fight with me because I try to compliment his son, who he is carrying, but I manage to smooth it over. But as I am approaching the door, another three or four creatures (mostly tall, demonic sorts of things) start to loom threateningly over me. Finally I seem to realize I am dreaming, though I don't quite get there 100%. [I know it isn't real, and I can do anything, but I don't actually think to do anything much.] I try to warn them, something like "I don't suppose you can just leave me alone, and we can avoid trouble? No? Well, I tried to warn you."

I grab the first one, and a rough twist and I snap its neck, then I start grabbing its arms and legs one at a time and wrenching them so violently that I break those and disjoint them, as well. I grab the second, and squeeze it until it's head pops like a pimple, before I toss it aside, and grab for the third one. By the time I have destroyed the third one, the fourth one is backing away, and all kinds of monsters are muttering about how mean I am.

About this point, I wake up for a few seconds, try to set the dream in my mind for writing down later, and drift back to sleep, and back into almost the exact same dream. I am still walking through the same bowling alley, with demons and things cringing away from me, but there also seems to be a clown convention or something, and a woman I don't know is talking about my friend Petey, and how great she is, and how she has like 10,000 Facebook friends, and must be the most amazing person ever.

And Petey herself walks up and explains she just friends everybody she meets while doing gigs, so most of them are just bare acquaintances, and it doesn't really mean much of anything. Then I walk up and say something like "Though she does have a few friends on Facebook who really are friends, friends. Hi, Petey!" and she greets me. She then asks "What are you doing here?" and I start to tell her about the monsters, and the other lady starts to talk about the convention, and I realize she wasn't talking to me, so I turn around and start to exit the place again.

As I make it out to the parking lot, most of the demons and creatures are still cringing away from me, but one (looks like one of the Rune blood creatures from the Runespan in Runescape) is trying to start a conversation with me, and is saying something about it is too bad I didn't get together with a cute girl I'd met inside. I look at him and say "But when I was talking to her, there were only two magical signatures around, mine and yours. And since I know I wasn't her, since I was talking to her ...." and I kind of glare at him. "Uh ... well ...." and he slinks off, abashed. Weird.
    13. The Lumberyards

      by , 01-17-2013 at 04:27 PM
01-17-2013 -- [Not sure if this was 1 or 2 dreams. Woke at about 2:30 and wrote down a dream, then had some slight problems getting back to sleep, probably fell back to sleep somewhere between 3:30 and 4:00. Had a dream, and had the sense of waking up and trying to fix it in my mind, but might have been in the dream, itself. I just don't know. Eventually woke up and wrote everything down about 8:15.]

Started out as a sort of dull, halfway repetitive Runescape dream. I was playing the game and teleporting to a sort of version of the Canifis farm patch, where I seem to be growing pumpkins. I teleport there, pick pumpkins, cut trees, perhaps bake pumpkin pies or something, then start the whole process again, about every five minutes, with the next growth tick. Very repetitive, kind of dull.

For a few minutes I find myself in a real life kitchen somewhere, standing outside a refrigerator, waiting for somebody to remove something from the freezer, so I can lay out some slices of cheese on a large piece of aluminum foil and place it back in the freezer. Hints of roommates and things. Then I find myself back at the teleporting to the farm patch, and cutting the logs and all. I seem to be waiting for Dale to join me, watching the mini-map for him, but his orange dot never seems to appear.

There is a slight hint of typical bits of a warehouse dream in here, but nothing that sticks, and it is around this point that I might have woke up, because I seem to remember trying to remember the previous bits in detail, so I may have half woke, then drifted right back into the same dream. I am just not sure.

I keep doing the farm bits, but the tree cutting is getting more and more involved, and I am turning in more and more logs at once (kind of like adding to the bonfire while hunting Skoll), getting to the point of 10 or 12 at once. Where I am turning them in seems to be more and more a sort of lumberyard, and soon I seem to be building one as part of a quest in perhaps Mort'ton, on the other side of the screen, but on the same screen, where I built another one as part of another quest a couple of years ago.

I suddenly find myself remembering building four or five lumberyards around different parts of Runescape, and it seems like it is getting to be a bit much to me. Besides, don't you need electricity to run a sawmill? This game seems to be getting more and more anachronistic to me. Anyway, I am still waiting for Dale's character to show up, and I am feeling very tired, so I decide to lay down on a pile of saw dust, which seems so very, very comfortable.

Things are shifting around me, and the pile of sawdust is turning into an odd sort of combination of a beanbag and some sort of weird ergonomical chair within a showroom of a sort of furniture store, and there is a redhead who is bugging me to get up. It seems the store is about to close, and she is not going to just let me fall asleep there, though she is willing to show me around a little and try to sell me something. [She looks much like the somewhat strange redhead in the funeral home that I saw in NCIS: Los Angeles last night.]

She leads me around the store, which kind of half looks like the Varrock Museum, then back to the corner where I had tried to take a nap. I am starting to gather all my stuff (of which I have more and more by the second), including putting things in my backpack, and trying to unplug my cell phone from the charger and the charger from the wall, without tangling up my wires and cables and things from theirs. My backpack is on my back, my pockets are getting full, and I seem to be having to carry my laptop in my hands, while she is saying something about me maybe accidentally dying, and I am saying "Good!" and reminding myself of the grumpy cat that people keep posting pictures of on Facebook right now.

Somehow the store full of people seem to want to cheer me up or something, so they all start singing some goofy sing-along song that everybody is supposed to join in on, but the singing is not impressive, I have no interest in joining in, and moments later they are still trying to rush me out of the store because they are closing for the evening.

But they are running me out in Frontierland in Disneyland, as it seems that's where the store is now located. I am supposed to be meeting a number of friends here, including Dale and others, but instead the only person who seems to be waiting is Howie, Kluts's husband. I'm talking about the odd store / show combination as we walk out of Frontierland, and then start down Main Street.

Very quickly Howie has turned into a huge, tall black guy (very big, but not fat) as we continue down Main Street. Then we're out in the parking lot, perhaps on a tram, and then even on a freeway. At times we're in a car, or a utility vehicle. At times it seems to be a bus, and at times, it seems to be almost floating on air or something. At one point we are at the top of a very tall, very steep hill, just starting down the other side, and it doesn't seem like we're in anything at all, though it feels much like a roller coaster as we rush down.

When it seems to be a bus, the black guy has lost his voice, but is trying to speak on a mic. He tries again and again, and is not sure if the mic is on or not, because even if it is on, with no voice, he probably couldn't make himself heard, anyway. I'm thinking his voice is even worse than mine.

Anyway, by this point the guy has shrunk a lot, and is now starting to look like Director Vance from NCIS, and he has his wife (who just was buried last night in the episode I watched) and kids with him, as well as myself. The bus is turning into a large SUV, and we are driving along the freeway next to a railroad track. There are train cars sitting on the tracks, with scaffolding on them, as people seem to be cleaning them much like window cleaners. Oddly the people climbing around the scaffolding seem to be a little old woman and her kids, and I quickly recognize them as Bonnie's old housekeeper Mattie and her kids (who I never met).

Somehow we're all impressed with how hard they seem to be working, and what a good job they seem to be doing, and Director Vance decides we have to stop at the trainyard and go in and place compliments for them, so we do so. We've parked at what looks much like a truck dock, though it is dirty, and I am thinking of staying in the car, so the kids don't have to go in, but we all end up getting out of the SUV, and end up being approached again by the same redhead from the funeral home / odd store, who wants to know what she can help us with. Odd.
    14. The Runescape Troll and Swimming

      by , 01-10-2013 at 11:32 AM
01-08-2013 -- [Shorter one without much detail, during a nap. If I had other short ones to put it with, would have done it as part of a fragment post (several short dreams in one entry).]

There is some sort of giant troll type of thing (think along the lines of Cliff in the Troll Invasion distraction) that stands 40 or 50 feet tall, and you fight it as a team, and get lots of bonuses in fighting it. Thing is, it will fight anything, and you get some of the points from anything it fights while it is also fighting you, so when we run into a flash mob of goblins, we're trying to lead them up the troll's hillside, so they can distract it and earn us a lot of bonus xp. Very nice.

Bonuses seem to apply to anything going on around this guy, so we're also doing things like skilling in his shadow and hunting penguins or strange rocks, all of it earning extra bonus xp because of him. Creatures of a couple dozen species seem to be attacking him all at the same time, and the xp is just running up at a remarkable rate. Very fun.

Soon, though, things shift drastically, and I find myself standing outside the Anaheim YMCA, telling me to go swimming. It is something like 11 at night, and I expect they are closed, but she is telling me to go inside, anyway. As I am approaching the door, she tosses me something that almost seems to be a cross between a cell phone and a tablet. I grab for it, but miss. It hits the ground, and it doesn't break, thankfully, but it does scatter, so I have to go grabbing for the cell phone, sim card, memory card, and battery and put them all back together.

I go in, and find oddly enough they are open, and end up talking to the lifeguards before swimming. One of them seems to be a teacher I knew from grade school (but not Mr. Adams, who I really had as a teacher, and really did see swimming at the Y one time), and another was a really attractive brunette who I seemed to be leaning against for some reason. Not that I'm going to complain. My body seems to be kind of falling asleep ... right before I wake up.
    15. The Amazing Bouncing Ferret: Fragments of Runescape and/or Harry Potter Dreams

      by , 01-10-2013 at 09:27 AM
01-09-2013 -- [Three fragments in the same night, but separate dreams, all involving Harry Potter, and at least two, maybe all three involving Runescape. Disjointed, short, but kind of neat. (And one long, detailed dream between the last two that will be entered separately and doesn't involve the same settings.]

      ---

01-09-2013 -- I'm Harry Potter, and I'm running around hiding from and being chased by a bunch of Death Eaters, as we fire spells back and forth at each other. Soon I have run into some sort of tower, where I go up to the penthouse, which seems to be where I live. There is a kind of a hint of the wizard tower from the recently re-done Runescape quest, which is why I say this dream might possibly have a Runescape connection, but that's the extent of it for this one.

Anyway, I am safe in the penthouse, but Malfoy is still down on the ground, trying to find a way in, and he is starting to annoy me. So I exit the tower and head back outside, where I grab Malfoy in my magic, and start bouncing him around, hitting the ground, then flying a few feet in the air, and hitting the ground again, directing it all with my finger. It's kind of like the ferret scene with Moody in Goblet of Fire, but he's still a boy. Still liked the name for the dream, though.

Eventually I am getting bored, so I swing him about 40 feet in the air, and threaten to just drop him and let him suffer the fall if he doesn't leave me alone and go away. There is something about Tonks, and maybe a hint of romance (or maybe just teasing, not detailed enough to be sure). I go back upstairs to find the penthouse is now swarming with bees, which may not be real bees, but perhaps a large group of bee animagi. The buzzing is bothering me slightly, and I worry of stings since this isn't an uncommon dream situation, but I decide to not worry about it, and trust the wards to take care of them, which is enough faith for them to do so.

      ---

01-09-2013 -- This feels like a continuation of the previous dream, but it is certainly more Runescape centered. Very much a puzzle quest type of thing, and I find myself in a kitchen somewhere baking little tiny plastic beads on some sort of backing (sort of like making those plastic frame sun catchers) in the oven to create runes for this puzzle I am working on. It seems to involve placing runes around a circle, and trying to figure out which runes I'll need to make, and where I will need to place them, whether at 4, 8 and 12 around the circle, or perhaps 3, 6, 9 and 12 or even more.

I'm making a few of these things, including a couple with catsup on them, at the same time I am preparing lunch, so I have to remember and be careful to eat the right things. The runes wouldn't probably taste that good. The penthouse tower of the last dream seems to be gone for the moment, and instead I find myself in the ruins of the old Wizard Tower from the recently redone quests, except it is not underground, but a ruin open to the air. (The new tower has not been built on top of it yet, I guess.)

It is surrounded by ghosts? Spirits? Some sort of non-corporeal monsters of large size (20 to 40 feet tall versions of some of the more normal-size Runescape monsters) which stay on the outskirts of the tower grounds, but slowly wander circles about the place. I probably ought to leave them alone, but instead I seem to be sort of taunting them, and soon they are chasing me into the center of the tour ruin, where a wildly coruscating power beam still rises in the air (the tower transport system in the new wizard tower), and I suddenly realize if they get in that beam, it might possibly start to bring them back into a corporeal state where they could be dangerous. This might have been a bad idea!

I'm trying to lead them back out of the ruins, but not having much luck, until suddenly a sort of non-corporeal, but very powerful, image of Lily suddenly forms in the area, and forces them to flee. Hints of family magic, perhaps related to the fan-fiction story A Marauder's Plan. Anyway, Lily manages to clear them from the area, so I can get back to my quest work.

      ---

01-09-2013 -- I'm in my first bedroom in the Hickory house, though I'm very tiny, and the bedroom is very large. The entirety of the Runescape world is laid out in front of me on the floor, and I am living Runescape in my bedroom. Hints of the above dreams are still around, as well as hints of the Ozan quests in the Desert.

The desert areas seem to be right near the tiny hall section leading to the door ('hall' caused by the closet next to the door) and the floor is covered in sand. There seems to be a cross between the hourglass stations from the Ozan quest and a version of the entrance to the rune alters that seems slightly based on the last dream, above, where I was baking the runes. Approaching the area, there is nothing to really see, until you get close enough. As you walk into the area, a variety of colored runes on the ground start to glow, and a stone circle sort of rises out of the ground. The runes almost look like holographic projections ... very neat.

I can see a sort of tunnel (with a half-escalator kind of feel to it) stretching into the floor of my room, leading into an underground temple, and I head down to see what is there. With the rune alter hints above, you might expect nothing more than an actual alter to approach, but there are all kinds of small 'critters' running around, slightly digital looking. They remind me of video game characters from Wreck-It Ralph. Some of them may need to be destroyed, some of them may need to be made allies, and I really don't have the least clue as to which are which. I soon find myself being approached by Amelia Bones, who wants to know what on Earth I am doing here, and it begins to feel like this underground temple might be in the Department of Mysteries,
