    1. Potion of forbidden knowledge

      28 Dec

My awareness spikes in the middle of the dream, making me pay more attention to the surroundings. I am certain this is a dream and happy about it.

It takes a bit to recall my totm intentions and in the meantime I decide to improvize and go bananas with dream control. I start a massive onslaught on the dream environment, initially tking all sorts of objects in sight and later doing impromptu room modifications. It seems to come quite naturally although I am not too sure what precisely am I trying to accomplish. The technique is look straight ahead and modify with thoughts the door and everything behind it, and once changed, bring it back to its original version. <possibly subconsciously trying to integrate a version of the portal from Dr Strange>

Once I have calmed down a bit, I finally recall I wanted to do task of the month. There was a familiar DC running around so I ask him to bring to me the potion of forbidden knowledge. He gives me a light blue medieval type of bottle and I drink the small amount of liquid it contains. Nothing happens for a while, which leaves me slightly disappointed as I was preparing for some sort of false memory revelation to take place.

I still feel quite euphoric being in the dream and I recall how you can actually use dreams to improve yourself, including physically <quote below>. At this stage I am very enthusiastic and totally determined to use the dream to influence my appearances and get more muscular. Quite conveniently a mirror appears right ahead, so I look at myself as I try to flex my stomach muscles. As if this isn't enough to get me in good shape, I decide to do some crunches and get on the floor.

I also imagine myself doing crunches every time I have a lucid dream, as a part of a new fitness routine. I do around 10 crunches with great ease. The movements are really light and pleasant, but this seems to exhaust my concentration and the dream soon ends.

Yes and no: You won’t really get a six-pack just by dreaming, but research shows that envisioning yourself doing exercises can make specific muscles stronger, so you should get a stronger belly than if you didn’t dream about crunches. In general, if you want to improve in waking life, dreams are the perfect place to do it.
    2. Probably Not What Goat Meat Tastes Like But Whatever

by , 12-28-2017 at 07:50 PM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Fell asleep at: 2:00 AM

      Woke up at: 12:00 PM

      Dream:

It seems to me I am in the desert, almost keeling over due to the lack of food in my system. The "narrator" of the dream (Who sounds a lot like Oxhorn who, in short, sounds like Tom Hanks) says I am on a quest to find a "warm animal".

Apparently the temperature is so hot that animals in the desert literally cook from the inside out. I come across a dead goat, or some other creature like that, and pick apart nicely sliced pieces of meat from its body.

It tastes savory, but also something that could be served at a barbecue due to its peppery sort of taste. It's also kind of spicy, and the meat itself was reddish orange with black spots, implying it was cooked recently. It was, as expected, pretty warm for being recently cut meat from a goat's body. I snuck along a bag full of the stuff along with me.

I come across another traveller, but from this point on I don't really remember much. He talks to me about where he can find this meat, and I told him that those goats are all over the desert, not wanting to give up my share.

And the rest is all fuzzy images from that point on.

      Notes

      1. First time I ever engaged in taste in a dream, though non lucid. Sadly, I don't think goat meat counts as junk food so no TOTM for me.

      2. Now I suddenly don't feel hungry for some reason.
    3. Floating

      by , 12-28-2017 at 06:28 PM
Morning of December 28, 2017. Thursday.

I stand before a brick wall with variegated brick colors. The glowing word “FLOATING” (in uppercase, with white letters) appears hovering in the air a couple inches in front of the wall at about face level. That is, each letter of the word itself is floating in the air (and has a neon essence) and I consider that is what the meaning of this feature is (as if associated with a “Sesame Street” short). I am non-lucid, so I fail to recognize the usual vestibular system symbolism, which directly symbolizes being in the dream state. The wall symbolizes the division between the non-lucid fictional dream self identity and the conscious self identity in waking life, though also metaphorically serves as the division between lucidity and non-lucidity while in the dream state.

    5. Violent Cyborg (Lucid from a couple of days ago)

by , 12-28-2017 at 05:45 AM (Lucid Time!)
This lucid dream is from several days ago.

I was with Manei and Jack in this large mansion. The home had purple wallpaper and dark blue carpet and numerous rooms filled with expensive furniture and fine art. We were walking around looking at the fine art. Jack came across a suit of armor that was on display and started to take it off the stand and put it on. I advised against it saying we didn't know who owned the mansion and they might be upset if we try to took it. He didn't listen to me and put the armor on anyway.

This guy then showed up. He had short brown hair and a green polo shirt on though his appearance was utterly unremarkable, and his face was kind of blurry to where I couldn't make out any distinct features.

The blurry face I believe it was what triggered my lucidity. The guy then started trying to attack us. Jack (who was wearing the armor) ran in with a sword. The green shirt man grabbed his sword by the blade and broke it, before picking jack up by the throat and throwing him into a china cabinet. Manei tried to fight him next, but he grabbed her by the hair and punched her over and over in the stomach. He then turned to me. I was fully lucid at this point. I figured I could just will this character out of existence, but he had a sort of stubbornness to him, and I could not. I moved to fight him and he fought back and grabbed me by the wrist along with several punches to the face and chest.

I was surprised how much it actually hurt and I was bleeding from my mouth. The guy still had a grip on me but I somehow managed to get away. I began flying above the guy and started throwing fireballs at him. It didn't seem to affect him much but he had no answer in terms of fighting back. I continued to lob fireballs on him time and agian. I blasted him through a large oak door into a library like room causing the guy to fall into an orrery-like device with several golden rings and models of planets riding around on rails. Still showing no signs of injury or weakness I continued to throw fireballs at the guy.

There were several dream characters in the library scene who ran out of the room panicking as the fight moved into the room. At one point a stray fireball blew over several bookshelves which fell over like dominoes. I continued to throw fireballs onto this guy with increasing ferocity but was doing no damage, though the attacks continually knocked him back. Eventually I combined my red and blue flames and made a purple energy ball which I threw at him. When it hit him in the chest he exploded leaving only his legs. There were wires and metal parts sticking out where his torso had begun.

I lost the dream and woke up shortly thereafter.
