    1. Gummy worms and Queen Zukin!

      by , 11-20-2010 at 06:12 PM
I was at some sort of HUGE festival with Queen Zukin. We were talking and walking around and having a good time. Then one of my friends got into a fight and Queen Zukin began re-enacting Futurama. While this was going on a worm ate some sort of remote control gummy worm we were playing with?

    2. (11/20/10) - Recall improving...but for strange dreams

      by , 11-20-2010 at 05:32 PM (LiveInTheDream's DJ v2.5)
So I've been heavily reality checking for a full day now, and I don't intend to stop yet. I've got a 'totem' (go see Inception if you don't know what it is) that I use to remind me to reality check and to provide another physical check for me as well, and I feel confident that it will work for getting me back into DILDs. But of course, in order for this to get into my dreams, it has to be a habit of mine, and habits take time to form, so last night I didn't go lucid, but I did notice myself observing my environment a bit more carefully in general, which is a start.

Dream 1: I was crouched in the mud with a full camo suit on. The air around me was dusty and the sky was a dim gray. No plant life grew anywhere. Everything about the place had 'Death' written all over it. After a short while, Scions began to approach with a couple of husks just a few steps behind. There was a gun in my hand, so I pulled the trigger. Turned out the weapon was fairly weak, but it had a very high rate of fire, so although it did little damage to the oncoming zombies, it was effective to tear apart their weak, dead flesh until they simply couldn't function anymore.

Suddenly I noticed two others, one to my left and one to my right, who were also shooting down the zombies. Rather than go lucid, my mind explained all this away by telling me that I was playing a video game, and these two others had just joined in. I wasn't fully convinced, and for sure, there was just something that didn't feel right about this explanation, but I didn't really have time to stop and think about it, so in the end I never caught wind of what was really going on.

Dream 2: This time I was engaging in something much more normal: a Skype conversation. And I was actually sitting at a computer rather than physically acting it out, too. I was only in a text chat, but I was talking and listening like it was an audio chat. Eventually, in a dream-daze, I wandered away from the computer and still I could talk even though I wasn't wearing a headset or anything like that. I never went lucid, but I did start to think that that was a bit odd, not to mention the person I was talking to was acting nothing like they do IRL.

Dream 3: Now I was at some social gathering, and a quick glance at my watch told me it was 7:00pm. I should have caught on to the fact that in the dream, one of the watch buttons that broke IRL was still there, but of course I didn't . Everyone that I know IRL was at the party, including those who I don't know personally, but whose faces I see regularly and would recognize. And then of course there were a few people there that were just complete fabrications of my mind.

Although the remembered details of what I did there are few, I do know that there were tons of other things throughout the night that I should have recognized in this one. For example, I quite clearly recall walking into a school building, but I walked out of a barn later on that night. Everyone talked about how good the food was, but I don't recall ever eating anything. And then the best part was when I tried to leave a couple hours later. False memory told me I had parked the car in one place, but it was simply not there (and of course false memory also told me I had driven there, even though I never did). There were about five parking lots to look through, though, so rather than reality check I just started looking through the different lots.

As I walked from one lot to another, I looked down at my watch and saw it was now 9:41pm. I had tried to leave at 9, so I'd been looking for my car for 41 minutes. I thought maybe I should just give someone a call and take a ride home, but I knew that wouldn't solve my problem, so I just kept on looking. However, I got stopped by a guy in a wheelchair that wanted to introduce himself. I didn't want to be rude, so I talked with him a couple minutes (during which time I looked away for a moment, and when I looked back, he was no longer crippled, and the wheelchair was nowhere in sight, not to mention it was suddenly daytime when it was night only a few moments ago). This guy was one of those complete fabrications of my mind, but the visual realism was amazing; easily as good as my memories of real people, if not better.

When I had finished talking to this guy I walked off to continue to look for my car, but instead I woke up.

Interesting to me how that last dream ended. Since this guy was my subconscious, maybe he began crippled because I was in SP, but then as I began to wake up, the SP was removed, and light began to register in my eyes, causing those other particular effects in the dream world.

Hopefully I'll pick up on these things better as time goes on. It is my goal to keep on doing these RC's every day and have a lucid dream by this day next week. Wish me luck!

In which my husband and my fear of time paradox interrupt my date with Tom Waits...

I’m standing on a street corner, well dressed for the fall in knee-high leather boots, a woolen skirt and a sweater with my hair curled pin-up style. I’m waiting for my date to pick me up.

A maroon 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass with a cream colored canvass retractable roof pulls up beside me. I open the passenger door and look down the long vinyl front seat to the driver who is crouched over the steering wheel like a vulture. He’s wearing black jeans and is turning to look at me from beneath a bowler hat. It’s a young Tom Waits.

      “Are you C--?” he asks.

“That’s me,” and I slide in, shutting the door behind me. He’s excited as he drives and says we’re going to a restaurant he knows that is unique. I’m a little star-struck but also confused.

“Don’t you have a wife, Tom?” I ask, thinking of his famously successful marriage to Kathleen Brennan.

“Not yet,” he answers. “It’s only 1978.” Ah, of course. I’ve time-traveled again. This must mean that I’m dreaming. I gain lucidity for a moment, but then I get lost in the implications of time-paradoxes. I start to worry that if I alter the course of historical events so that Tom and Kathleen don’t marry, then I could wake up to a world without Swordfishtrombones and Mule Variations. Dinner with Tom Waits isn’t worth that risk.

Just as I’m about to protest, he parks the car and we get out to walk around a field of giant tulips. Butterflies fly around above our heads and then swoop down to circle us. The tulips are easily eight feet tall, and Tom Waits explains that the flowers grow so high here because the sun is closer to the earth at this spot. I look up in the sky and see that the sun is a massively huge yellow and orange swirl. Its spiraling rays seem to touch the ground. We start walking along a path towards a tower in the distance that is a mosaic of pieces of colorful glass bottles, marbles and bicycle rims. Its windows are stained glass like a cathedral.

“That’s the restaurant,” Tom tells me. He starts to tell me the history of the tulip park, how it was discovered and how the restaurant owners grow all their own food here. He’s very excited about all this and keeps stopping along the path to point at something or wave his arms around, caught up in his narrative. I’m delighted.

But then my husband suddenly appears. He is surprised to see me here. I introduce him to Tom Waits. Both men are polite to one another but obviously it is awkward. My husband looks at me, puzzled and a little hurt. I feel guilty, but my immediate concern is how to save face. After some platitudes, my husband says he’ll be on his way. Tom politely asks if he’d like to join us for dinner, and my husband accepts.

We continue our stroll towards the restaurant as a trio, but it is obvious that Tom Waits is feeling awkward and confused. The moment is ruined. I feel deeply embarrassed. I ask Tom to excuse us for a minute and I step aside with my husband. I consider the problem. I want to complete the date, but I also want to protect my happy marriage. Trying to think of a solution, I realize again that I’m dreaming. Armed with this lucidity, I tell me husband to leave. He looks sad, but I explain that I will not feel guilty about it because it is only a dream. My husband turns around to walk down the path away from us. I continue on with Tom Waits, but I’m not having fun anymore and the lucidity is lost once again.

Tom and I walk in awkward silence for a little while, and I realize that he is only being polite now. He no longer has any real interest in taking me to the restaurant. Also, I’m worried that I’ve damaged my marriage. So I tell Tom that it was not meant to be- too many time paradoxes and spouses to carry on. He agrees, relieved that he doesn’t have to go through the charade of taking me to the restaurant. And I run down the path after my husband.

      Wurm and Mouse Plague
      Clarity: 6/10
      Importance:4/10
      Sleep: Good
      Sleep Position: Unknown
There is a gigantic snakelike worm thing rampaging across the country side. It eats everything, and frequently raids the local village, snatching people. I'm in a hunting party with the villagers hunting this thing down so we can kill it. We track the beast back to it's lair. The mighty wurm is in the trees over what looks to be a cross between quicksand and a tar pit.

I yell at the guys to take the shot, but they hesitate. When one finally does shoot, he only hits the beast in the end of it's tail. The great wurm drops out of the branches and plunges into the muck below where it disappears. I give the guys with me crap for wasting our only opportunity to kill it.

Now I to to third person perspective, and see an evil looking black rat on a tree branch. The rat is rather cartoony, with pointy oval body segments, and about the length of my forearm. This rat grabs a large green mouse that scampers by, and they both tumble into the muck below, where another rat mouse pair are struggling. At first I think the rats are the predators, but the green mice use the muck to their advantage and kill the rats before eating them.

As the green mice eat, I hear them talk to each other. They say this is a good location to start a colony. I know that's going to be trouble, because the giant wurm has eaten all the predators in the area that would control this giant mouse population. Without any predators, the mice will become as much of a problem as the wurm.

      Nap Fragment: Great Idea
I'm at a keg party on my school's roof. I notice that the plastic beer cups have a straw built into them. The main part goes down the side of the glass, and the part you put in your mouth is part of the rim of the glass, and can be pulled out if you want to use the straw.

That idea is going to make me a million bucks!

      Wanted... Dead or Alive (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I had a few DILDs thoughout the night. As is always the case with dreams in the middle of the night, the lucidity wasn't quite top-notch. I was easily distracted several times, and made slightly strange decisions.

Early on in the night, I was having a dream where I was on a beach. It was a dark evening, and the sand was gravelly. There were quite a lot of people around, fishing from the shore. I stood beside a strange man who had a black walkie-talkie as bait on the end of his line. I thought this was strange, even more so when I saw his bucket full of walkie talkies. I didn't bother asking him what he was doing, and sat down in the sand. The waves were quite unpredictable. It was windy, so there were big ones and small ones, with a lot of spray. Then a larger wave washed right over me, soaking my lower body. I was wearing my jeans, and my phone was in my pocket, as always. I had a moment where I panicked, then thought,
"Where have I seen this before?
Only in dreams." I looked around at this scenario with puzzlement. The guy beside me had spilled his bucket and the walkie-talkies were floating away. But he was encouraging them, as if they were baby turtles trying to get out to sea. Ignoring this, I stood up and jumped into the air. I flew off over the top of the sand dunes, but saw that they went on as far as I could see. There were mountains on the horizon, so I decided to make for them. Flying was slow at first, and I tried various methods of speeding myself up. Tensing myself and scowling didn't make much difference, and I was slightly afraid of waking myself up with the exertion, so I tried something else. I remembered from a dream a few months back that I could fly faster if I imagined a force pushing me from behind. It worked, but slowly. It took a while to build up any real speed, but I kept getting faster, which was what I wanted.

The mountain range was vast. It looked like I could be in Tibet or something. There was a temple-like structure on each of the peaks, but one was larger than the rest. This was the one I went for. Flying over the tops of the mountains was difficult. I had to keep landing for a few seconds and get a running jump to fly to the next one. I felt like I had reached my maximum altitude. It had become a beautiful sunny day, and for some reason I felt like singing. The first song that came to me was Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. I sang the entire song word for word, and noted that my singing voice was far better than in real life. After that came I'm the only gay Eskimo by Corky and the Juice Pigs. I don't know why, it was just the next song that came to me. Anway, I landed at last on the balcony of the huge temple. Its roof was painted red, and all the walls seemed to be made of wicker. I stepped inside a flimsy door and looked inside. It was much darker inside, and I could see why. It was part strip-club, part casino, and part games arcade.
I went inside and lost track of what I was doing after a bit.

There was a short dream segment next which I can't remember too well. I was duelling Voldemort, semi-lucid. I disarmed him and used the body-bind curse on him with his own wand. Then I sped off on a huge bike. It was bad-ass, I wish I could remember more.

I had a false awakening in what I initially assumed to be my own bed. Turned out it was in the middle of a street. My friend Hugh was standing in the road with an electric guitar. He said,
      "I am Bon Jovi."
This was too weird, there was no point in reality-checking.
"Play Dead or Alive!" I shouted to him. I suddenly realised I couldn't remember off the top of my head how Dead or Alive began, but hoped that it was stored in my memory somewhere, so my subconscious could play it. It started perfectly, and I sang the vocals from my bed. As the song continued, I got up and walked aimlessly down the street. A fat woman approached me. She asked if I would lift her car onto the pavement, as she couldn't park it properly. It was a weird request, but I obliged. Just for a laugh, I stretched in preparation and cracked all the joints in my spine. The car was more of a small bus, but it felt very light. I dropped it down on the pavement. The fat woman handed me a bottle of some kind of alcopop as a reward. I shrugged and drank some of it. It was red, but blueberry flavour. Some kind of thrash metal started playing in the background, as I wandered into a shop. There was a booze section, so I made straight for the Smirnoff vodka. Out of dream-excess, I snapped the neck off the bottle and took a huge swig. It was just as nasty as real life. Nail polish-remover. I coughed a bit, and
      woke up.

    6. Genesis Myth 16/11/10

      by , 11-20-2010 at 01:07 PM
Towards the very end of a long sequence of dream events, a story of the origin of humans in this world was told to me and I saw it. At the site of a large stone ‘platform’ sitting in a landscape of green it was revealed to me that this was the site of our few ancestors brought into this world from another reality already fully populated with these ‘proto-humans’. The unknown comic powers summoned our ancestral proto-humans onto this large stone ‘platform’ to which they were kept bound not to leave for a period of time unknown to me. On the edges of the platform the cosmic powers created two giant monoliths, each bearing an engraved symbol. One bore the likeness of a crook and flail, the other a representation of a single grape (represented as a perfect orb). It was told to me that our ancestors intense exposure to these two images had the consequence of them being deeply ingrained in the unconscious of all of the present humanity, us, their descendants, and all humanity throughout human history.

After the required period of time had passed, the cosmic powers released the original proto-humans from being bound to the stone platform and were now free to inhabit the entire world. It was then mentioned to me that if now the cosmic powers were to choose to bring some more proto-humans from the other reality into this world at the present time, they would consequently mix with the present humans and the present humans would ‘become stranger’ – as during the time that has elapsed from the time of the original bringing of them, enough differentiation has occurred to make present humanity significantly different from the proto-humans, and perhaps the same would go for the proto-humans of the alternate reality.

I cannot recall the identity of who was revealing this story to me.

I'm indoors, in a room, talking to someone. Maybe my sister? Oreo, my old cat from years ago is here. She bites me arm and stretches my skin with her grip. My skin stretches unrealistically. This is weird. I must be dreaming. I RC to confirm. Ok, I'm lucid. Remember plan: Summon B. I walk out of the room to a hallways. From the hallway, I see windows to other rooms. I try to imagine B in one of those rooms. But I fail to summon her. I wake up.

      Weird Weapon
1228: I think I am with H's younger brothers. They show me an interesting weapon. It's a gun. You load it with a coin, such as a dime. It fires the dime and the bullet bounces against a soda machine. It bounces back and melts. It comes back to the barrel of the gun and turns into a bullet. You turn a crank to fire the gun. Larger coins, like a quarter, make larger bullets. I show this to Justin, who is a bit of a gun nut. He turns the crank really hard and the gun fires so hard that it breaks the soda machine and breaks the cycle.

Then there is some religious ceremony that is disturbed now that the gun is temporarily broken. People are upset because they has expectations for the religious ceremony.

Then I am with friends at a football stadium. The game just ended and we are leaving. They want to stop at the arcade to play a fighting game. I would only want to play Hearts, but they don't want too.

    8. kids in stairwell, leg levitation, lucid wall-cross fail

      by , 11-20-2010 at 12:35 PM
Good morning everybody. I remember three really short dreams from last night. They were all from after 2 AM. I had coffee last night and couldn't fall asleep until 2 AM.

The third dream was pretty much all lucid, even though it was short.

      Dream #1

I walked through some room toward a staircase. The staircase was just past a doorway and was part of some slightly larger hallway, like for a small apartment building.

The room I was in was something like a mix between a living room and a small apartment lobby.

I had to maneuver a little bit past some kids who were rough housing with each other right in front of the doorway to the hallway. There were boys and girls, probably in their early teens or just a little younger. Their parents stood nearby. I thought the kids were funny, and they looked like they were having fun.

I wallked into the hallway and turned toward the staircase. A group of kids ran just in front of me, blocking me from the staircase. The began wrestling and rough housing with each other. I thought they were pretty funny. I just waited for their rough housing to pass.

But then I remembered that the parents were in the doorway, watching the kids. I thought that the parents would think I was weird for hanging around and watching the kids. I decided to get moving. I tried to edge past the kids. It was really difficult, because there were so many kids, and the hallway was so small.

      Dream #2

I was in "my bed," in "my bedroom," which was a lot like my bedroom in waking life, except messy. My lights were on.

I was laying face-down on my bed. I was thinking bad thoughts about God. For some reason, I was really angry at God. The more I cursed him, the more amusing I found the activity.

Eventually my legs began levitating off the bed. I wasn't controlling it, but I thought I might be able to. My legs lifted higher and higher until my body was almost perpendicular to the bed, with my head on the bed.

At some point, I noticed little specks of dirt or something black all over my bed. There were also hairs or cotton fibers, also colored black, all over my bed.

I started trying to blow all the dust and dirt and hair off my bed. Some of it would blow away. But there was so much. I wondered how I could have let my bed get so dirty.

      Dream #3

I was in "my bedroom" at night. I was crouched down on the floor, possibly naked, with my knees to my chest. The bedroom lights were off, but I could see by the purplish evening light.

I told myself that this wasn't actually my bedroom. That seemed pretty obvious. I told myself I was dreaming.

As soon as I told myself this, I had a false awakening and sat up on "my bed." But I was still lucid.

I stood out of the bed and told myself to remain calm. I figured I would walk out of the house and see what was around. The house seemed like a suburban house.

I was heading for the front door. But suddenly I thought, Why should I exit through the door? If I'm in a dream, I should be able to leave the house any way I want.

So I decided to walk through a wall. I turned right, into another room, possibly another bedroom. I walked straight up to the wall, which had a window on it that started at about my chest.

I thought I might climb up onto the windowsill and walk through the window. But I figured I didn't need to go throgh the trouble. Walking through a wall and walking through a window were basically the same thing.

I began to walk through the wall. It seemed pretty easy. But suddenly I saw a bright light. I felt like something was resisting. I got kind of mad, and I pushed really hard through the resistance.

I'm pretty sure I lost lucidity at this point. I fell past the wall and fell a couple stories down to the ground. I think that as I fell, I was telling myself, Oh well, I guess I woke up from that dream.

I sat up. It was daytime. I "had awoken from my dream." To my right was a red brick wall. To my left was a beach, possibly like Coney Island. The sky was deep blue and the light was dim, almost as if I were looking at an old film.

I'm a lifeguard at an indoor pool. We're doing drills, practicing rescue techniques. I stand at the edge of the pool, deliberately collapse into the water.

Someone from high school. He's another lifeguard. He dives in after me, pulls me up to the surface.

Surprised to be shooting up out of the water, suspended in the air for a moment.

I'm staying in a hostel with two friends. Going to our bunk beds, and I'm looking up at the inside of a dome-like structure, planning my escape. We're in a group, aren't allowed to leave at night. I plan to. Sharing a conspiratorial glance with the other troublemakers.

A school. My brother and I are sneaking in with one of the girls from the hostel trip. She doesn't speak English. I shrug, tell my brother to pin the blame on me if we get in trouble. Nothing they can do to me.

      Hostel. Scare Factor: 1/10.

Yeah, I haven't been around much. Between moving to a new city and starting a new job (or two, or three), life's been a little hectic. I'll get caught up on others' journals when I get the chance.

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Speeding down the road, I sit in the back seat of my mother's red Mazda 5, a box of newly purchased nick-knacks on the floor in front of me. Rummaging through them, I recall their origins. This small, black, flame-decalled hot-rod for instance, and this other model, were both made and painted by some of the best urban artisans in the craft. I watch apathetically as they slide across the floor to other side of the car.

That's when I notice the both side doors are slightly ajar.

They're going to fly open, I just know it. . .

      WHOOOSH!

The front side-passenger door opens widely, while the rear door flies backwards, opening the cabin to the rushing, pulling, wind. In an instant, my box is gone, tossed to the side of the road by the currents of air. In the midst of this turmoil, the front door rips away from the car, tumbling wildly as it goes.

But I'm more worried about my possessions. My mother has no intent on turning back, I know, as she trudges onward, ignoring the speed limit. I guilt her with this, before realizing:

”It's a good thing this is a dream. Now I can reverse time and close the doors before any of this even happens.” As I said it, I envisioned it in my mind's eye, oblivious to the fact my mother was turning around—until the g-force from turn hit me as the rubber tires screeched and burned, drifting with the weight of the car. “Or you could just turn around.” I say snarkily. . .

Moving company employment and odd Guitar Hero Game. (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

      Five dreams. One lucid:

      Fifth:

I walked inside the stockroom of a huge moving company. I was employed there but for some reason it has been a while I did not work. I felt happy as I was going to make some extra $$$, but at the same time, I was wondering why the hell I got such a job, when it is not my career.

I tried to clock in but I just could not. I did not recall anything from that job so I asked a co-worker to help me out. All the co-workers were very familiar for me, like if they were old friends, but I do not recall them from waking.

After several minutes, I finally clocked in. I saw the boss, he looked similar to my Pata Negra waking boss, but younger and with even more tattoos.

I co-worker escorted me to the music room. I was told to sit in front of a huge TV and I was given a round controller. It had around 10 inches radius. It was similar to Guitar Hero, had the same colors plus a lot more buttons. I had to tune up some CD's before they were released to the market. There was a flashy line in the screen and I had to sync them with my controller
(nothing to do with the real Guitar hero, and I do not play video games, I do not own Guitar Hero) I passed the stage and I was wondering how to go to the next one. The co-worker left because he assumed I knew. There was a guy with a long beard sitting on a chair on the left bottom corner of the room. I chose a different play mode for this odd game. I was told that to play "Real Tune" only the manager could, as the CD was going to go life right away.

When I started to play, a female appeared from nowhere and placed a card in front of me to distract me. She told me she was there due the game mode I chose. I kept playing without failing a single hit. She unplugged the system.

Something else happened until three young DC appeared. We sat on a brown couch with a brown table in the middle with some snacks. A co-worker helped me in setting up this game again for the kids.

      Endless sea of mountains (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

      Five dreams. One lucid:

      Fourth:

In a store with a made up wife and two friends. We were in a Psychic store and my wife decided to leave. We were looking for stones and more stuff. I saw a hot DC and decided to have sex with her. I asked her and she rejected. I insisted and we had sex.

I turned lucid for no reason. I was in the house near a beach, or at least is what I though. My lucidity was very low. I saw a friend who wanted to fly with me. I told him he could fly aswell but I decided to grab him and fly. I pulled the iron and the wood from a window in order to release him.

I was flying and I wanted to visit a dream sea. I got to a big wide area. I was surrounded by huge rocky mountains. I tried to fly higher to see the sea but all I found was a endless sea of mountains. I looked east, north and south. All mountains. There was a park and I had some dificulties flying, which is weird for me. I saw very big slide full of DC kids. I flew to it to rest and take another flight to West. I saw a free way road West with no mountains.

I lost lucidity in the way. I think I attempted to Astral Project, but I was not lucid so I actually only dreamed it.

      Missed dream signs:
      - Having sex with other than my wife.

      Spotted dream signs:
      - None.

      Reality check performed:

      DUI and Border Patrol (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

      Five dreams. One lucid:

      Second:

I was at the house of some made up friends. There was a treasure inside one of the walls of the house. Another wall had a puzzle with the photo of a tree house. One of the DC had a clue for some scavenger hunt we had to do. It was $40.000. I left with my wife to work when we were done.

It was day and I was driving with my wife. We were stopped at a DUI control. The cop was an African American guy of around 19 years old. He had a very young looking face and he was only 5'3'' I was not worried about the DUI as I had no drinks. The cop told me to repeat some series of words.

I walked into an office for more checkups. There were a few cops who were drinking beers and half intoxicated. I was told I was clean and ordered to go back to my car. While I was going to my car, I saw the Border Patrol forcing a Mexican guy to leave the US. I drove away from this location.
