    Non-Lucid Dreams

    1. The past few days

by , 03-26-2014 at 11:02 AM (Lucid Time!)
These are dreams from the past couple days. Because getting on the internet is a pain right now, I wrote what I could recall in here.

      Too Many Cats

I come home and I see that there are six cats in the living room. I see that there are even more cats all through the house. I run into my mom who says that she has decided to become a cat hoarder.

      Publisher

In WL, I recently wrote an autobiography cataloging everything that happened to me up until the end of high school. It contained many personal things that I never wanted other people to see.
My parents had just sent this off to a publisher and collected a large check, about $1500 on the counter. There was also a bill showing that they had spent the money on expensive wines.
Okay, I don't care less about what they spent the money on, but the autobiography I wrote contained a lot of personal information, and it should not have been published. I get very angry and trash my own home.

      Cosmic Forest Fire

Now onto the good stuff. I am flying through space, getting some guided tour of the galaxy from what I have been noticing more and more, the "presence" in my dreams. It flies me past a large blue star that is surrounded by this disc of gas and dust. The star looks beautiful and very realistic.
We fly past that to another white star. And (enter dream logic) the star is shaped like a skull rather than just a ball. This was a really interesting and strange sight. There is also a large disc of white clouds around it. The presence flies me toward the clouds and deposits me on them.
As it turns out, I am in a very strange, interesting world. The skull-shaped star is the source of heat and light and the entire ring of gas and dust is the world. Most of it is white, and the white gas turns out to be snow when you actually get closer to it.
I was cold, so I tried to make a fire with some spare wood laying around. There were actually small clusters of pine trees all around. I got a fire started, god help me how. But the fire quickly spread and started burning down all of the trees.
The presence took me out of that location and left me at my house. My parents were there and they were scolding me for starting a cosmic forest fire. After a minute,
I started to realize how absolutely ridiculous the situation was. I didn't make it to full-fledged lucidity before I woke up.

      Car Chase
Me and two friends are chasing a large truck through a city. We are driving a black corvette. I try to open the door and jump from the corvette onto the truck, but the truck turns away down a side street at the last minute.
I get lucid at somepoint after that, but the dream falls into chaos. I am in some large red cave looking through a satchel full of weapons. I then walk around on stilts in an attempt to fly. I feel like there was much more to this than I can recall right now.

    2. Too much Bates Motel, probably

      by , 03-26-2014 at 04:55 AM
There was a skinny teenage boy that lived with his mother in a big house in the country. Sometimes I was this boy. The mother and son both had some extreme mental conditions that made them do crazy things for strange reasons. They were constantly seeing things that weren't there, but it was so real to them that they never knew what was real and what was in their heads. The boy (Me) took a nature walk through a beautiful landscape on his property. The whole time, the top roof of my mouth was throbbing and burning, as if someone had taken a razor blade to it. I could feel it completely. during the walk, my "brother" was occasionally beside me, however I did not have a real brother. I/He lived a crazy life at home. There were always new "visitors" or a "new Mom", all of which sought to harm the boy. The mom experienced the same situations. Sometimes when the mother was having a spell, she would feel the need to kill her own son, and it was always justified in her head in some way. Other times, she was a normal, caring and lovable mother. one day, the mom spotted a hooded figure walk swiftly past the sliding doors that led to their patio. The mother, son, and "friends" all searched outside, but never found any trace of the scary man who they knew posed a threat. Later, the boy found another boy that looked identical to him in a spare bedroom. System of a Down was playing in the background, and we fought for a long time. We wanted each other dead for some reason. I had always had the upper hand (which is weird since they both were 'me' (the boy).) I was on him, throwing punches like mad and trying to stab him with a wire. Somehow, the fight ended but was never resolved, but it got me thinking differently and set the entire dream in a different tone. "I'm going to escape. Mom wont even notice." I quietly crawled out the front door, and once i was outside, I immediately began to sprint to my car. However like most dreams where you are trying to escape something dreadful, it was like i was treading through cement. I was yelling "We're going to be fine, Mom! We are going to make it just fine!" Unfortunately, my mother was trapped in this sort of bizarre fantasy land of terrible and strange things, and she was in too deep to escape. In fact, the visions only got worse when she tried. However i decided i did not want this to stop me from living a normal life, because i knew i would have a chance at it if i escaped and she didnt come after me. I finally made it into my car. I turn the key and I wake up in a sweat.

Fragment 1 - 1319 house movie night aw yee
My sister and I are watching a movie in the 1319 living room. It starts to get quite violent, at which point mom turns it off. I'm like hey now, and Jess says that she's already seen the movie, so HA mom, can't protect her delicate eyes and sensibilities from nothin' 'cause it's too late. Except y'know she didn't talk like that. That's just me, writing this down now. Hello.

The movie itself featured something about a barbarian camp at night being invaded by women on horseback. Or maybe just a couple women. A small-scale invasion. I'm not sure what happened that was so violent.

      Dream - Volcano Nostalgia Blast
I'm looking at a curly-haired toddler kid who's standing at the edge of this fricking lava stream. The point he's standing on is a sort of corner (from the lava's perspective), and he's definitely on the verge of falling in, but his parent, who's standing nearby, doesn't seem to care.

Actually the parent is literally just recording the kid with his video camera, which is what I'm seeing. A really crappy home video. It's like I'm watching it online, and like I'm there, and like I'm the parent looking through the camera lens. So it's basically all of those things. My dream brain isn't great at perspectives but I love it anyway <3

Anyway the kid kept performing this almost sort of childlike ritual, where he'd drop a ring that HE MADE (it looked fabulous, gold with a diamond on it, and he made it somehow I have no idea how it was a Dream Fact) into the lava, where it would sink. And he'd say something sad and regrettable about that. He seemed fairly like, distraught, and also very much in danger of falling right into the lava.

The parent didn't seem to care about this possibility. He just kept recording what was going on, as though very dedicated to capturing his son's antics without interruption or disruption by himself. Really though, an interruption would've been just the thing in my opinion.

The scene replayed a couple times, with the kid opening his grubby fist to drop the ring into the lava, where it would sink in a sort of non-violent kind of way, barely melting. As though it were simply disappearing into the lava. And the kid would rave about that in his childish way, and I'd be concerned for his safety, and then at one point he finally just fell right in. He dropped in like he was doing a pencil dive into a swimming pool, and pretty soon all you could see was his curly hair, and then nothing. Once again, the parent was just remarkably entirely not-the-least-bit upset.

This was probably inspired by the fact that I listened to Gollum's song last night, for the first time in years. It's actually basically the end of Lord of the Rings III, come to think of it. THAT IS VERY, VERY STRANGE.

Another part of the dream (I'm pretty sure) was watching the volcano that caused this lava stream erupt, and watching the glorious golden sparkling lava follow a sort of path down towards a village. There was an indentation down the side of the mountain that led to the village, because that was the path the villagers would use. It was sort of a perfectly rectangular channel, quite shallow, but the lava nevertheless followed it without overflowing.

I distinctly remember walking up the path, only to see the lava coming my way, and quickly going back the other direction to find lava already down that way as well. Crazy stuff! I did a lot of running around and freaking out. Also it was night time or perhaps just incredibly smoggy, and the lava was quite bright and nice to look at. I wasn't super afraid of it either, which was nice. Lava used to be the stuff of nightmares for me, when I was a kid.

Dream - Airplane Game => Infiltration Anime
      SO LET'S SEE HERE

Alright so first off I was just watching my brother play this airplane game, where you were this chubby little bumblebee-shaped airplane flying over an ocean in a warzone. Your objective was to sneak past the battlefield without attracting the attention of other planes, because you didn't have ammo (you had to use cover a lot but I'm not sure what the cover was), grab up some ammo from behind enemy lines (two ammo bunkers), and then unload it on these two battleships that were side-by-side in the water (between the two ammo bunkers), apparently sitting targets for an airplane. Also there were these two walls, each between a battleship and an ammo bunker, so you could snatch up ammo in relative peace before curving overtop the wall and divebombing the battleship of your choice with bombs and machine guns. At this point, you'd be noticed by the enemy planes (also bumblebee-shaped, I think?), who would fly in, and it would become a battle mission instead of ... bumblebee stealth. So all in all it was a pretty neat game that I kinda wish existed IWL. OH WELL. Maybe someday.

Anyway I watched him play and then gave it a shot myself, managing to sneak behind enemy lines, grabbing up as much ammo as I could in one go, and then going over the wall and trying to bomb the battleship closest to me. Once the enemy planes engaged, however, I got a bit distracted trying to shoot one down with machine gunnery, and yo it was pretty hard to aim.

At some point I stopped being a plane and became a person, the ocean battlezone turned into an underground car garage sort of area, and the battleships stayed where they were. I didn't actually notice when all these changes occurred. I seriously have no idea, maybe the dream blacked me out or something. I should try to pay more attention to weird changes in dreams, amiright?

Also there was a door and hallway that led to the first floor of the 1319 house somehow. So that was pretty neat! :3

(Oh I could note that in recent dreams it's been relatively easy to see the connections between the dreams and recent real life experiences. I could do a ton of that, but last time I did that my dreams started to reflect reality more and more and that sucked. So nah.

This has inspired my belief that the way you write your dreams down, and what you write down, goes on to affect your dreams in turn. So if you focus on the emotions, you'll start to be more invested emotionally in your dreams, and if you're struck by the details and note them down, it'll show in your dreams by them bein' more detailed, and if you start to notice logical discrepancies you'll notice 'em in your dreams as well. That's my theory~)

Anyway the dream started to have another odd change. It was no longer about the game at all, the battleships weren't even relevant to anything anymore, and it even started to change so that I wasn't a central character, I was myself on the outside of the scenario, watching it as an anime with my boyfriend. But that change was more gradual, because when it started out I was totally a main character, even as the anime's side characters started to show up.

So now the scenario was that I and my group were assassins or infiltrators trying to get into the 1319 house so we could take somebody out (not anyone in my family, although they were in the house as well). Unfortunately, we were pretty incompetent, so we couldn't figure out how to get past this one locked door. (I think, in the dream, I was sort of surprised by the fact that we hadn't planned for any locked doors.)

Then a couple female cops showed up and started patrolling with guard dogs. I was surprised by another thing, which was that the dogs didn't sniff us out at all. Really, they didn't change anything.

At this point I somehow managed to get right past the cops and up to the locked door, now expecting them to have left it open (even though that would've been awfully shoddy of them), and found that it was not simply unlocked but actually cracked slightly open. I ducked through and proceeded without stopping, trying to find a hiding place so that when the cops went back inside they wouldn't run into me. My plan was to head back later and open the door from the inside for my assassin buddies.

The indoor bit looked like the first floor of the 1319 house, heading towards the kitchen. Neat.

I saw white wooden closet doors to my left (all nostalgic with them wooden slats) and went in to find myself in an orange-lit concrete sort of machinery back room. I was a bit nervous about their being bugs, but I hid back there anyway. There was a sort of drop-off ledge thing (FRICKIN. ARCHITECTURE.), basically a drop in the floor by about two feet. I crouched down there, with some junk to either side of me, still worrying about/imagining a cricket or spider crawling up the wall. I also managed to control those thoughts, however. I think I didn't really want my expectations to start being self-fulfilling prophecies.

At this point someone walked by the door outside, casting a bit of a shadow or somethin', and I crouched down against the ledge. It really hid me quite well. Also it was pretty nice and clear, semi-HD. Like, the feeling of crouching there was quite vivid.

Then I heard (and sort of visualized) my Dad walking through the house calling to my sister. She responded from another floor, and he corrected his path.

I think this is about the point the perspective started to shift from first person to me watching an anime with my boyfriend. I saw my character from outside, and saw he was a brown-skinned dude with orangeish curly hair, in sort of an anime style. He presumably let the rest of the assassins in, and they all proceeded to be ambushed by loads of police.

At this point it was revealed that every assassin had some sort of communicator thing on one ear, which was actually controlling their actions and turning them into very professional robots. The police broke them (the communicators now had frayed wires sticking out the end), and at this point every one of the perhaps six or seven assassins was now bleeding from that side of their head. The police were saying that with the controllers broken, they'd be free to make their own decisions ... but judging by the looks on the assassins' faces, they still had every intention of carrying out their mission. Maybe the programming was more than skin-deep, or maybe the transistors hadn't been controlling their actions after all.

ANYWAY THEN I WOKE UP 8)

    4. Scary Dream

      by , 03-26-2014 at 12:02 AM
Well this is a very short dream. I remember I was a a baby and my mother picked me up at took me to the bathroom. She sat at the edge of the tub and turned on the water. She smiled and tested the water. You could see the steam coming of the water indicating it was scorching hot but she touched it like it was nothing. My mother then placed me in the tub and I started screaming. She continued to watch me still smiling but the weirdest thing was that I screamed and cried but nothing came out (no sound). In the dream I was 2 years old and instead of seeing through my eyes I was watching my mother and me from a distance (like watching a movie about yourself). I wonder what this means~
    5. Breath and healing

      by , 03-25-2014 at 10:40 PM
After few non-lucid fragments (one interesting one involving a woman and a mythical being something like a bird and something like a qilin, and his 'missing part', which is in the form of another person this woman knows; otherwise dull), my memory picks up in a scene where I'm already semi-lucid (I'm controlling my surroundings and aware that this control is due to it being a dream, but otherwise have fairly low awareness and mostly go along with the dream storyline). I'm walking through a park with another man, while watching someone I think of as a killer, and I mentally push him toward his next target. However, at the moment I expect him to take out a knife, instead he puts his arm around his target's shoulders and hands him a cigarette.

The killer, the target, and the man I'm walking with are all smoking. I take the cigarette from the man I'm walking with, intending to smoke it myself, but I find the dream won't allow it: first I'm holding nothing, it's back in that man's hand; then when I focus I find I can put it to my mouth and feel the physical pressure of it, but it doesn't resemble smoking. I've had similar problems before, when I deliberately focus on improving the realism of some complex physical sensation, and instead only wind up feeling the sense of pressure accurately, nothing else. I then focus on breath instead of on the cigarette itself, and something interesting happens. I have the impression I can control my surroundings far more easily by working in rhythm with my breathing.

My memory's vague for the next two scenes, while I was focusing on breath - I saw this as a great development. (Dream logic inspired by meditation, maybe. There's no reason I should be breathing in a dream at all. I wonder whether I was actually in the same rhythm as my sleeping body's breath or not.) First I saw something like a shadow play, where the figures moved in rhythm with my breathing, under my control. Then I was walking through halls and passing people who appear to be from America of about 200 years ago, all of whom I find vaguely unpleasant; I still had the impression that I was successfully controlling something through breath in this scene.

I wound up in a room where several people are sitting around a round table, and they call me and someone with me to join them. I start to sit down and an old woman stops me, points me to a different chair. To my left is a man holding what I think at first is a young boy. When I get another look at it, it has the face of an old man, and one of his eyes is that of a cat. This is all very unpleasant. I recognize him as my own cat, S., and I believe he's somehow sick. (S. died a long time ago, but I didn't remember this at the time.) We put him on the table, now in the form of a human-sized cat, and I chant a healing spell over him, mentioning a goddess, exerting dream control. Objects rise off the table and hover in the air, and the other people around the table join in, though by just chanting 'heal!' over and over again. I woke up while listening to them chant.

I was in an apartment with Desirae and kept arguing with her because she wouldn't clean the guns but instead would microwave the guns to clean them. I told her they probably don't work anymore and I checked the night sights of the P229. They still worked. I got on the computer and there was porn of girls with horse dicks and Desirae asked what it was. I told her I didn't know. I started playing a game where I was out on an island surviving with a group of people. I was exploring and suddenly started getting attacked by a helicopter. I got into a helicopter but as I was lifting off, I got shot down. I ejected and entered another helicopter. Same thing happened with that one so I got into some sort of tank and started shooting at the helicopter. I got mad because my mouse wasn't working and I kept pulling it. The cord was stuck on something. There were a lot of other vehicles driving and flying around. They had a box with their team color hovering above them. They were shooting at each other and the car that was teamed with the helicopter I destroyed tried to ram me into the water. I pushed my brakes and the car ended up in the water himself. This took place on the beach. I sped back to base which was in a sort of forest. My car looked like a camero or mustang and as I approached the gates to my base I remember thinking "They'd better be on their toes and open the gates. Especially since I'm out here" The gates opened as I drove towards them.

I was working the tower and inmates were being stupid like always so they were searching them early in the morning because they found something on one of them. After, I went down to some sort of restaurant or food court. I was talking to some people about a guy not eating his muffin. I got upset when he didn't eat it so when he got up I followed him and recorded a message on the beer bottle he had left on a table. I said "Look, motherfucker, you'd better start eating that shit or I swear I'll beat the shit out of you. I'll do it, bro" I felt mad but I made sure not to say I was gonna kill him. I put something down near the bottle, expecting it to be the muffin, but it was my phone. I went back to the table to get the muffin and saw some guy eating it to help out the other guy. He got scared when I walked towards him but I pretended I didn't see him. I grabbed the muffin and took it. The guy then started eating it sadly.

    8. Imager rescue / Curving fire / Side scroller / Bathing man / Messed up lights / Fragments

      by , 03-25-2014 at 07:52 PM
      Imager rescue
I'm watching a group of Imagers descend into a strange place, some sort of alternate dimension. It's a "utopia," as clearly evidenced by the people all wearing the same identical flowing clothes and everything being spotlessly clean. The Imagers are here because they received a report that some of their members had been captured. Sure enough, in the main square they find a slaver selling four of their friends. The lead Imager pulls aside one of the junior members and instructs him to prepare a handful of poisoned coins (large silvery things), something that will take effect later in the day after they're long gone. He then starts to talk to the slaver to set the release conditions for the four. I start to talk to the captured Imagers to find out what happened. A young woman in the group tells me they were in the square and realized the best position had been taken, but no one was in it. Going over to investigate, someone had thrown bags over their heads, stopping them from fighting back, and here they are.

      Curving fire
I'm standing outside with my wife and with Emily and her family on the grass near the end of "our" driveway. We're all admiring the neighbor's boat and jet ski. Emily's husband say that a jet ski is something they'd love to buy but they haven't been able to yet.

Now I'm setting up some kind of long rack with gas burners built into it. Now I'm carrying something that looks like a big scoop. It's the same width as the rack, two or maybe three feet. As I approach one end of the rack, the flames suddenly curve towards and into the scoop, even from the far end of the rack. It's quite a sight, and Emily is very impressed.

      Side scroller
I'm playing a side scroller. I have to throw bombs to open new passages, but I have to be careful not to get caught in the explosions. Now My character is in a large room with some blocks in the middle and at the bottom. The next thing I need to do is to break through the blocks at the bottom and get into a water area. There's an enemy in the room with me, and I need to deal with him before I can continue. He's small and good at hiding, only coming out to strike when I'm not paying attention, so this is taking a while.

There's something about legal torrents of old games ranging from five hundred to two thousand megabytes. Many of the "old games" are actually new efforts designed to look like old games. I think about how pixel art is popular with indie devs, and how much I can't stand it.

Now I'm at the far left end of the room. There are more blocks here, and they seem to be switching every few seconds. Some of them show a powerup icon for a few seconds, then fade as other blocks start to show powerup icons. I try to break the powerups open, but I have to get moving at a good clip to do so, and that means being off screen to get enough speed, and that means I can't see which blocks currently hove powerups. As I move off screen I realize there's a hidden key showing me the blocks and powerups, and I'm able to use it to aim my character to get the powerups. After I've gotten a bunch, a gate comes down blocking my access, and a giant spiky rod starts to come down from the ceiling. I don't move quickly enough and take some damage before I'm able to get to the main part of the room, but then I'm able to use my new powerups, especially some kind of melee weapon that looks like a long rod, to make short work of it.

      Bathing man
I'm in a yellowish room watching a very large man get painted all over with oriental style patterns and figures, designed to scare off evil spirits. He then proceeds to lie in a "bath" with water just a few inches deep. I guess the designs were to scare off water spirits? But if he's bathing, shouldn't the paint wash off? Or if it doesn't, then how will he get it off later, and what's the point of bathing now?

Later, I'm talking with him and find out his name is Sm, pronounced Sem. I think that name is familiar and realize it's from one of the Final Fantasies - thirteen, I think. I ask him if he's familiar with those games, and he says he isn't. I consider explaining about them to him, but I decide that's more trouble than it's worth.

      Messed up lights
I'm in my bedroom trying to turn on the lights, but something very strange is going on. We have a dual slider fan/light switch near the door, and I'm sure I'm using the light slider, but as I slide it up and down other lights in the room are turning on and off, leaving the fan's light off the whole time. I look more closely and am even more surprised to see that there are two sliders on the same track. I start moving them slowly up and down, trying to figure out the pattern. The first notch turns on my wife's bedstand light; the second notch turns on a light in the middle of the wall and turns her lamp to dim. Other positions do other things. Now someone else is in the room. He's familiar to me (though I don't know who he was). He says he saw something about this in the manual when he got one recently, and he'd be happy to let me borrow it. I thank him but say it probably wouldn't do much good, since each room is wired differently; but he politely disagrees, saying this is exactly what the manual talked about. I tell him I'd love to see it.

      Fragments
      Something about "medieval court posturing"

I look between two nice buildings to see a house behind them. It's rather run down, but there's a light on upstairs and it looks much more homely than the austere newer buildings.

I'm in a dimly lit hallway.

    9. Outer space

      by , 03-25-2014 at 07:14 PM
Barely remember anything of it now.

I am in some sort of spaceship just flying around. I'm in some vertical giant tube with what seems to be the bad guys of the movie. There's a girl below me trying to open a gate. I increase my body weight to 1000T and let my body fall, killing her. Okay, normal weight now. Now I'm just playing with other skills, changing the gravity, speed, etc. A friend of mine is in the other side playing hide-and-seek and I go through a conduit to scare her.
    10. A Ghost Investigation

by , 03-25-2014 at 01:03 PM (Exploring My Mind)
Been a little bit since I recalled anything. Glad to see it back!
I was with both my family and some strangers. The strangers consisted of a woman, two children, and Woody Harrelson (I believe he was in here because of my latest obsession with the show True Detective). We hung out at this warped version of my house for a while, but soon, people started dying! We weren't sure why, but it seemed to be something paranormal. That was our guess anyway.
At one point I pretended to be a ghost, to the amusement of everyone else. In the midst of investigating, my aunt brought her dogs to the house, and I played with both them and the stranger kids.
Suddenly, the truth was starting to reveal itself. The woman I mentioned as one of the strangers ended up dying in Woody's room by unknown causes. When we all gathered in his room later on, Woody revealed that he had cameras throughout the house to record and capture paranormal activity due to his suspicions. Even so, for some reason, we didn't think to check the footage to see how the woman died. Eerily enough, when we looked at Woody's desk, his keys were gone. Everyone insisted that they didn't take them, and we even checked. It must have been the woman.
After all these crazy events, I was left feeling inspired, and felt like saying one thing to Woody and the gang.
      "I wish I had a PS4..."
Cue fade to black. Many years pass (instantaneously of course, like a time skip in a movie or book), and the two kids are sitting around a dinner table, a lot older now (teenagers at least).

      Dream 1 Title: Michelle McFee
Dream 1: I am standing at the bottom of a wide (approx. 8 feet) flight of stone stairs that climb to a small platform about 10 feet up. At the bottom, on each side is a thick stone pillar about 4 feet tall. Stone railings are on both sides of the stair case. The steps are surrounded by a wooden structure on three sides, the side at the bottom of the steps is open. The structure is peaked with a shingled pyramid shaped roof. The building looks old. There is a road to my left, a pond to my right, and many pine trees in all directions. I recognize this place. My in-laws have a house on this pond, but it is about a mile away. In my dream the structure is familiar, but not in real life. Sitting on the stairs, close to the top is a woman. She is in her late 30’s to early 40’s with brown shoulder length hair. She is wearing a black leather jacket, a red shirt and blue jeans. In front of her is a small table with a laptop on it. She is talking to the laptop. I recognize her as Michelle MeFee; a local radio and new paper personality. (In real life she looks nothing like this woman, and her voice is completely different.) The scene shifts, and the structure has an opening underneath it, with a paved road running through it. I see a blue minivan drive under the structure. I recognize the driver as my ex-wife’s grandfather (who is dead in RL). **Jump** I am walking down Davis Road (a street from my old childhood neighborhood) with Michelle McFee. We are talking about her career as a radio personality. She tells me that she really enjoys the show. **Jump** We are back at the structure. She is back in the exact same place as before, but now I am sitting next to her. The laptop is open and I have a clear view of it, but don’t notice any text. I shift closer to her . She is looking at the computer and I look closely at the right side of her face. I can faintly see veins running across her cheek. I have the urge to kiss her and move closer. The dream fades and I awake.
Awake: 4:00 to 4:30 am, then reawoke at 5:00 am
      Vividness: (scale of 1-15, 10 is waking life vividness) D1 = 10
      Awareness: (1-10; or lucid) D1 = 7
Length: (how long it felt like! Because that matters) D1 = 10 min
      Emotions: General happiness, desire
Dream Signs: Back in old neighborhood; Celebrity who I know; In my in-law’s neighborhood; Ex-Wife’s dead grandfather; No text where there should be text (laptop, on the street where we were waling there should have been a stop sign right in front of us plus other signs)
Notes: Took magnesium, B-5 & Chorin. Not a great night for dream recall. I woke up earlier in the night from a dream, but couldn’t recall anything before I dozed back off. I awoke from Dream 1 close to 4 am and had trouble falling back to sleep. I estimate I fell back to sleep at 4:30ish. I was dreaming when my alarm startled me awake at 5:00 am and erased all memory of it. I am sick of my alarm clock, which is having issues anyway (cd player no longer works & some buttons don’t work) so I ordered a new “La Crosse Technologies Mood Light LED Nature Alarm” clock. This clock can be set to that slowly brightening light comes on 10 min prior to the alarm, and the alarm can be set to nature noises (birds, forest, ocean, or rain). It also has a dimmable back lit face, so it won’t be very bright.
Text Search Experiment: I read a recent study about forming new habits. The study showed it can take between 20 and 254 days to form a new habit, depending on the complexity of the habit (Drinking a glass of water each morning was the simple habit which took 20 days on average) and the personality of the person who is trying to form the habit. Forming the habit of continuously searching for text in real life is more complicated because I need to be aware all the time. This morning I completely forgot to do a text check when I awoke, when I went to the bathroom and when I went to my basement to work out. It wasn’t until I was done with my workout that I remembered that I should be checking. I feel this habit will take a few months to become fully ingrained into my real life. I’m sure it will take longer for it to feed into my subconscious. I will have to be diligent and keep a positive attitude.

    12. Knotted cords

A couple who've been married for about a year are traveling together through another country in a vaguely historical-inspired setting. The husband, who's in the military, suspects his wife is unfaithful. He comes back to their room at the inn with a gift for her: a set of cords for her to use to make knotted ornaments, to hang from the wooden cases he travels with. They both behave as if this is a sincere gift, but he gave it to her to convey something unpleasant: normally, a newlywed couple would have made such things months ago, when they were first married.

      Jeopardy!
I'm in a large, darkened auditorium, walking towards the front along with my son. We're on the set of Jeopardy, and both of us are contestants. I'm surprised I got on, and I can't believe my son did - he's not even ten yet! He submitted his application as part of a school project, but we didn't think he'd even be considered, let alone accepted. As I walk up the steps towards the stage and the podiums, I realize that I'm missing my shoes and socks. I wonder briefly how that could have happened, but I try to be nonchalant, hoping no one else notices. I see someone else wearing only socks, so I feel a bit better. I have the podium on the left and my son has the one on the right. Now I'm standing behind my podium looking out. Something is asked or said, and each contestant is supposed to respond. No one else seems willing to be the first one to say something, so I do. I hope that there are a lot of computer and electronics questions and not too much about sports.

Now I'm sitting in the audience a few rows away from the front. My family is around me, and I overhear the video manager behind us talking to someone else involved with the show. I think about whether I should have told Mom that I'd be a contestant so she could be sure to watch, or whether it would be better to leave it as a surprise so she realizes it when she sees me on TV. I like that idea better, but I'm concerned she may happen not to watch it that night.

Now I'm taking my son to the bathroom. I'm a little nervous (and annoyed), since they never told us what time we needed to be back, so I hope we don't miss anything. As we're walking back into the auditorium through the doors at the top/rear, we find they were looking for us, and since they couldn't find us they were about to replace us. The audience sees us at the back and starts chanting "We are here! We are here!" (straight out of Horton Hears A Who) and I take it up the chant as well as we walk to the front.

Now I'm standing behind podium, wondering about security of podium computer. I somehow manage to minimize the Jeopardy application and get to a Windows desktop. I play with that for a while, seeing what I can do. The contestant next to me sees what I'm doing and asks me about it, and I say something. Eventually I want to bring up the Jeopardy application again but I don't see it on the task bar; I have to alt-tab to it.

During another break, we head to the bathroom again. As we're Walking down a hill towards the main building, I somehow see the Jeopardy that's actually airing right now, and I see that it's got Arthur Chu again. I wonder how long he's been a champion and find it strange they're playing a prerecorded show at the same time they're recording a new one. Walking down a dirt incline reminds me that I still don't have shoes or socks.

      Truck driving
I'm driving a big rig, currently idling in a parking lot. A train comes by on tracks across the road, blowing its horn. I toot my own horn back, pleased that mine is louder than the train's. I ponder the layout of roads, tracks, crossings, and bridges in this area, trying to think why trucks drivers take such a strange path. I can only assume it's to ensure they never get stopped by a train.

yo so for this post I just wrote out the outline yesterday (March 24th), and then I came back today (March 25th) and actually filled it out. I feel I should note that when I put down the outline, even when it doesn't have all the information, it still saves 90% of my memories. It's like, the little details come attached with the larger pieces. which is useful. SO YEH. outlines, dawg.

(also this was originally published March 25th but I later went back and altered history so that it was actually published on March 24th. because you can do that on this website. and I like being able to look back and see that I've updated this blog every day/remembered dreams every night.)

      Dream - Fighting Freaks
WOW COMING UP WITH TITLES FOR THESE DREAMS IS THE WORST

So I dreamed I was invading some sort of school building or church at night, for a specific reason. First off, it had this neato feeling because empty buildings at night are the best, but secondly it had an even cooler feel to it because the building was not, in fact, empty, but was filled with female mooks attempting to OBSTRUCT OUR FORWARD MOTION. That is, I was wearing a headset with information or songs on it that I wanted to put on the internet, or perhaps I wanted to download songs to it (not the most noble or high-minded motivation, I suppose), and their building had an internet connection that would allow this. (At some point later on I realized I actually had an internet connection at home, and I didn't even have to be here, which was sort of a huge relief.)

So of course then it turned into a giant shoot-out, with I and one or two companions (family? friends?) fighting off a massive horde from inside one of their rooms. And I call them a horde, because they were sort of ... willing to throw themselves at anything in their attempts to stop us. It really wasn't about the internet connection, it was just their zombie-like mindless intensity causing them to over-react to whatever entered their building.

For self-defense, I had a really stupid gun that I hated. To get it to fire, you had to be holding down a button that turned off the safety, and then to actually fire you had to press one of two buttons, depending on which direction you were aiming. Also, I'm pretty sure pressing the fire button only fired a single, less-than-pea-sized bullet (which were still fairly effective), so I had to keep spamming the dumb fire button while also holding down the safety-off button. It sort of felt, to my hands, like a ceiling fan remote, although I'm fairly certain it looked like a gun.

So originally we were on the second or third floor, working on that internet connection ... then we fought our way through the mob. I remember a point at which I managed to shut the door on a couple dozen that were trying to rush me, and then fire over top of it at them as they piled up against it (the ceiling was just sort of missing, I think, or maybe the upper section of the wall). It felt like an incredibly effective strategy, which was nice, but trying to spam the fire button while holding down the safety was a real pain, and I'm pretty sure I got the two fire buttons mixed up at one point. Also, it didn't really feel like I was killing people. It felt like a video game: you shoot 'em, they fall over and vanish, you got one less angry opponent to worry about.

Shortly after the door massacre, I decided to hop down a stairwell, by which I mean fall down the open space in the middle of all the flights. It was the easiest way to escape them all, and I've done so much falling in dreams that it's a toss-up whether a 200-foot fall will even slightly damage me. I remember having a bit of trouble managing a straight fall, since the railings were sort of crowding me, but even though my fall was occasionally interrupted by brief pauses as I had to re-orient myself (generally close by some female mook on the stairwell), I eventually managed to complete my dive to the first floor. Or perhaps the basement.

This was where I stumbled upon a rather tormented and wandering kitty, the apparent victim of scientific experiments. I was pretty happy to meet him and vice versa, and the two of us regrouped with some others on the first floor of what was now clearly the church I used to attend.

We stood around near the enclosed foyer as we planned our next move. Jessica was there now, and Nathan, and some tormented bunny they'd rescued.

I didn't particularly like that bunny, notwithstanding its tortured past. It had sort of an ugly face and its nature seemed to be that it would absolutely bite you unprovoked, and it would be your fault because it was a victimized bunny. Jess managed to see past its faults somehow, probably owing to her larger heart or something. I remained suspicious of the bunny up until the point at which it started biting me, which was when I decided I hated the thing, and that might be why we left it behind.

So then we trooped outside, and Jess got in the car that was waiting. Nathan was driving, I think, and I was either staying forever, or simply waiting for another ride. The tormented cat followed Jess and leapt into her lap in the car, which was pretty adorable. I think it was sort of a dream version of our IWL cat Moses (at the time, naming him that made sense, but now I HAVE NO IDEA WHY WE NAMED HIM THAT), except his normally gray fur had been turned a sort of snazzy red and black by whatever had been done to him. Which, by the way, he seemed mostly okay with. His attitude was mainly one of being happy to see us and glad to go home, and not terrified and traumatized like one might expect.

There was one last scene, I think, that had to do with this dream. The female mooks had clearly been doing a lot of Outlast-style experimentation on not only animals, but also people, and frankly their human experiments seemed far, far more twisted. This scene focused on two (or one?) victims of their experimenting, a brother and sister who'd been somehow combined into one body. It was sort of as though their bodies had been mashed together until they simply combined, with their face being a sort of mix of both people's faces. There wasn't any obvious stitching or anything like that, they were just sort of an uncomfortable combination.

As if that weren't enough, the experimenters had taken the liberty of adding three or so random eyes to their face. The arrangement was something like, one on their cheek, one by their right eyebrow, and one around their forehead. They all were sort of looking around independent of where the boy-girl combination was looking (which tended to be off to the side with a depressed and sort of embarrassed expression).

SO YUP that was one dream.

      Fragment - TITLES, MAN
Playing Age of Empires against someone (local internet). I remember roaming the map a bit checking things out, and then realizing that I really needed stone. I grabbed some workers and set 'em on stone, then watched as they swarmed it like ants, just sort of piling on it like crazy. It was sort of a never-ending fountain of villagers.

I remember being struck by how very many there were. I think, once again, I was waiting for them to stop appearing. Is that a dream power ?? Waiting for something to stop happening and then it never does?? >:U HOW COULD I USE THAT. AAHHH.

      Fragment - Frickin bears, man
Had another walking-in-the-forest-and-then-had-to-save-my-sister-and-parent-from-a-massive-bear dream. This time I was with my sister and dad, and this fricking, just, ENORMOUS BEAR poked its head up over some ridge that was alongside the path. My sister and I were like "maybe it didn't spot us ????" but it totally did. And it started chasing us.

So then my dad, my sister and I were all running from this bear and, of course, not managing to lose it. I realize that my dad is actually having a pretty hard time running because he's older and has stuff like health problems and a bad knee and junk, and that's enough to trigger my complete lack of self-preservation. Must've been semi-lucid, because it wasn't about fricking dying to the bear, it was more about taking pity on my dad. I'm not sure though.

...I think as a rule, low-level lucidity should entail deliberately using dream powers or trying to trick the dream, whereas... something like facing a bear without being concerned about it has more to do with emotions (or the lack of 'em), and immersion in the dream, and what the dream considers to be "normal"... hmmmmmmmmmMMMMMMM.

Anyway I saw my dad and sister going down one path to the right, and the bear was off behind me at some distance. So, rather than keep following them, I went left, which led down a dead-leaf-covered slope to a large flat area, sort of like a giant crater. The bear followed me to the center, where I PROBABLY PUNCHED IT. I'm not sure, though. I don't remember. I just know that after that encounter, my dad and sister came back out of hiding and everything was mostly okay. My brother showed up, too.

    15. Taken--The Dream Version(And Brief Lucidity)

by , 03-24-2014 at 02:25 PM (INeverWakeUp's Super Dream Journal)
Time to log a dream at the best time to log one: after you've woken up from it! Sadly, this dream is still incredibly lost in my memory...

I dream some friends and myself are all hanging out somewhere, when suddenly, our friend gets kidnapped by someone. Luckily all of us manage to catch a really good sight of the culprit. So now, this begins the desperate search for our friend. I actually don't know any of these people who are with me IRL, but oh well.

And so the search begins, and we begin going around the city looking. One day I my car to go get gas at the local gas station, and I go inside to get a snack or something. When I enter, I immediately see something that is out of place. There is a closed laptop laying down on the ground in the middle of the place.

I walk over and I pick up the laptop and open it. On the inside there is paper covering over the keys and screen, as if it's a new laptop(even though laptops don't have that IRL). I close the laptop and look around to see if anyone is looking at me. No one is, so I tuck the laptop under my arm and walk out to my car. I sit down and open it and remove the sticky paper covering and turn the laptop. I really do need a new laptop...so why not.

At that moment I think about it, and realize something. That laptop was there for a reason...for me. The laptop home screen comes on now, and there is a picture of our friend in custody on the screen. Oh fuck! The background now changes to another picture of her in her ties. This was no doubt to have been a set up.

One of my friends now gets into the car randomly. She is a girl with curly blonde hair who I don't know in real life. She asks about the laptop, and I show her the background. Now if I could make a side, I'd like to say how awesome ADA is, and the attention to detail it brings into your dreams. The reason I say this, is because the laptop actually goes to sleep after not being used for awhile.

Anyway, I continue on and explain the pictures more. We recognize the location, and we decide to go and save our friend. The strange thing though is that this too seems like a set up. Perhaps a challenge to us to save our friend. He wants to see what we can do. Well then sir...challenge accepted!

We gather all of our friends, and then some(we have some people I'm friends with IRL now). We drive through to city towards our location, and I suggest we rent guns for our mission, but I'm turned down. I don't recall the reason, but someone explains why we shouldn't. We stop in a quite ghetto-looking place and start walking around. One friend discovers some vents in the ground that could get us to the place we're looking for quicker. So, we all follow her and go down several different ventilation shafts. They're all dusty and gross too, especially the last one.

I climb out of the last shaft and surface outside in the dark alleyway. Two friends are already there, and there is a stranger talking to them. I already find this to be very sketchy, and so I shout at the man. He turns and says something I don't recall and runs off.
"You'd better run you fucking wigger!" I shout after him. LOL

However, I now recognize who that "wigger" is as he runs down an alleyway. It was the God damned kidnapper! SHIT! I now call after my friends and then I run after the bastard. I quickly catch up with him in a small lit up room and I confront him. We have some dialogue I don't recall sadly, but the dialogue quickly turns into a full on fight. Me and him start going at it, and I'm actually winning, which surprises me. But things soon turn around into his own favor.

The kidnapper now pulls out multiple different knives and begins to swing at me. He quickly manages to stab me several times with his arsenal of knives, and I actually feel pain, despite this being a dream. I could compare the pain to getting my tattoo IRL, so in other words, it really fucking hurt. He now draws out three blades between his fingers on both hands. I look up in pain, and I'm pissed.
"Come on you pussy!" I taunt. "Fight me like a man you Wolverine look in' mother-fucker!"

Surely enough, he comes at me and stabs me again, leaving the nearly ten blades in my body, and he runs off. As he runs away I can begin to hear the sound of police sirens, meaning he's gonna be screwed now! I muster up just enough strength, and I pull myself up to my feet and go outside. The sun has come up now, and the criminal is still at large.

I look around and see nearly thirty dead police officers laying on the ground. Now if I can mention ADA's attention to detail again, I lost my glasses in the struggle, and now I actually have blurry vision because I have no glasses. That's a really cool realistic detail that resulted from ADA. Anyway, I see the kidnapper is making his way for the woods to escape now, but I won't let that happen.

I now pull a Mosin-Nagant off of a dead officer...huh, weird weapon for a police officer to have. A WWII Soviet rifle...? Anyway, I lift up the rifle and aim, but my vision makes things a little difficult. More police now arrive and the scene, and I begin firing shots at the assailant. I miss every shot and then have to reload. I look around and pick up another magazine for the rifle and load it in. I look back and see that the police have captured him now. I'm glad they did, and I sigh in relief.

My friends now gather around me, and they don't seem the least bit concerned about the almost ten knives in my body. One of them hands me glasses, and I put them on. I aim down the gun and I have precision again, so that's good. But I'm beginning to question reality, and I do a reality check. I plug my nose, and I'm breathing through it still. I'm still doubtful, so I look at my hands, and I have extra fingers. So I become lucid, and I hold my rifle. I explain the whole fight and everything to everyone, and then I go on my merry way.

After that I just kind of explore around, not doing too much interesting sadly. I completely forget about the TOTM, and just explore around until I
      awake.
