    1. Day 176: Genie-Pad

Dream 111: Hitchhiker's Guide For Getting Whatever You Want

Nighttime; Grandma's house. A raging party is going on outside. I'm in the living room, watching Spanish television, thinking to myself "Wow, Latino TV is lewd as hell. There are also a lot of clowns." Then I pull a tablet out of my pocket which resembles the Guide from the Hitchhiker's Guide, though a yellow one and slightly extended. It has three LED lights on the side, red, green, and yellow.

It turns out to be a genie in a bottle, so to speak. And as is turns out, the three lights stand for something. Red is for 'Evil', Yellow is 'Neutral', and Green is 'Helpful'. Under the Red section one of the wishes is 'Create a clone and kill it/Create life then kill it'. I decide to use the machine to stop the party outside. Everyone leaves but they leave all their trash on the patio. Then the dream ended.

Dream 112: Not Really The Last of Us

The dream starts with a zombie covered in some dark green goo--which I presume is the cause of the apocalypse--chasing down a woman in her house. It pins her down on the floor and bites her ear off. I see the lights flickering on and off in the house.

Now suddenly in the house, I bolt it and run away as fast as I can from the goopy monstrocity.
      Then the dream ended.
    2. Day 174: Questioning the Structural Stability of Marshmallow People

by , 08-05-2018 at 04:36 PM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Fell asleep at: 12:00 AM

      Woke up at: 9:00 AM

Dream 109: Yet Another Apocalypse Spectacular

A minute in and I'm rocking the boat already. Well, not figuratively of course. It was probably a bad idea, scaling a massive (And rusty) tugboat near the river when I myself don't even know how to swim, but, eh, I'll find a way out. As I shift my body weight from one side of the ship to another I find a box filled with medical supplies. Before I could find out what's in there I have to get out of the massive boat due to the fact that it is leaning 60 degrees towards the rapidly moving river.

After hopping down from floor to floor, I'm a little disappointed that I couldn't acquire a medical kit of any sort. But I'm still alive, so that's enough of a miracle for me. "Shenandoah" by Tennessee Ernie Ford starts playing in my head for a bit, as I reflect on what had led up to this point. I had always thought I'd wind up as a plucky scavenger in the post-apocalypse, the kind that involved near total societal ruin. I didn't revel in this atmosphere, nor have I ever asked for it, but it's here now and I'm doing fine.

Suddenly during my reverie, my friend JJ drives up to me in a busted up red car. He asks me what I'm doing and I respond with an "Eh, nothing." He offers me a ride to which I don't pass him up on. He drives us towards a largely barren settlement with a few people and kids running about. I'm amazed/suspicious at how well this place was holding up. We park in front of a gas station/grocery store with a few people inside of it. Some of the aisles were picked clean, but I find myself some lawn chairs and take them along with me.

JJ tells me that the town was throwing a birthday party for him, and asks me to join in. I accompany him to a sort of mobile home (Bigger than any mobile home I've ever seen) here there are people dancing and talking and such. I begin to get paranoid. "What if this is a set-up? Perhaps some Mexican church bishop had poisoned the party-goers or something (Like in Fear the Walking Dead)?" It's all too much to handle at once.

I walk outside and just set up my lawn chair, taking in the bright blue skies.
      Then the dream ends.

Dream 110: Just A Bunch Of Random Nonsense

I'm in this coffee-brown room with a guy who looks like one giant marshmallow (In the shape of a human, of course). He asked me and a colleague of mine to help rescue his girlfriend, whom I assume is also a marshmallow. Along the way we end up getting lost and forgot our objective altogether. Then the dream ended.
    3. Day 155: Girlfriends and Mind Wipes

by , 07-17-2018 at 06:26 PM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Fell asleep at: 2:00 AM

      Woke up at: 11:58 AM

      Dream 107: The White Room

At my grandma's house, midday. I accidentally walk into an all white room with a weird green light on the ceiling. I ask one of my relatives what the purpose of this room is, and he says it's a mind erasing chamber, used for wiping bad memories. Only downside is, it wipes out your entire history and personality.

I ponder about it for a second. All of my fears and anxieties will be gone if I stay here, but isn't it my experiences that make me who I am? Isn't that basically mental suicide?

With only little time remaining I bolt it out of the white room and into the living room, only barely escaping the eponymous White Room.

      Dream 108: Nostalgia

I wake up in someone else's bedroom, early hours of the morning. It seems to me that I'm lying next to my girlfriend (Not any real girlfriend just a DC). Her bed is just a mattress on the floor with possibly way more blankets than she needs. The lighting is moody and dark, you can pretty much figure out what happened last night.

I lie in bed for a couple minutes, waiting for her to wake up, and try to remember how it got to this point.

I have a flashback to the first time I met her. It was at a Wal-Mart, she was walking past a food court and I was just passing her by. She was carrying a hell of a lot of bags and she accidentally dropped her purse. I pick it back up to her and I tell her, "Maybe you should've gotten a cart while you were here, huh? Here, I'll help you with your bags."

After that it was just a bunch of conversations on the way to her car, things about family, friends, and other stuff. She told me about the place she works and recommended that I visit her sometime. As you can guess it took quite a while from getting to 'I'll help you with your bags' to being in bed with her. And it seemed like something I was pretty nostalgic about in the dream.

As for the girlfriend herself? She was Hispanic, had tan skin, and had black curly hair. She carried herself like a confident and peppy woman, and wasn't afraid to speak what was on her mind. That's about all I can remember.
    4. Day 154: The Most Realistic Not-So Realistic Dream

by , 07-15-2018 at 07:24 PM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Fell asleep at: 1:00 AM

      Woke up at: 12:00 PM

      Dream 106:

I wake up in the bed of what is an exact replica of my parents' bedroom-- nighttime-- when a blonde woman walks up to me and tosses some terms of affection my way. I get confused for a second,"Wait, I don't have a wife. Do I? Wasn't I just?..." I seriously start questioning my reality at this point. I start thinking to myself,"Was everything that happened to me before just a dream? Did I really forget I have a wife? Husband of the year I guess..." I walk around the living room, dazed. It's nighttime so I can't really make out any specifics, but I can tell it was close to Christmas seeing as we set up a tree in the living room. My daughter, a black-haired teenager it looks like, tries talking to me. She is wearing a black tank top with red writing.

Then it jump-cuts to my high school years.

I'm at a high school alongside some of my friends and a younger version of my DC wife (At that point my DC girlfriend). I take a look around. Orange and silver are the two primary colors, as with my high school, but things looked marginally different. There were gates everywhere (None of which were higher than 4-5 feet by the way) and everyone was packed together like a can of sardines. A really odd design for a school.

We have received word about an unknown zombie-like virus that is spreading throughout the country, getting worse and worse as the days go on, but nobody seems to be understanding what's going on. My girlfriend, my friends, and I all decide to skip class and wait near the entrance of the school just in case something decides to kick off.

I sit next to my girlfriend with many of the same facial features as before, looking like a young version of Elena Fisher of Uncharted fame. I try putting my hand on her arm, but I notice her pulling her arm away so I leave it at that. Stressful times I suppose.

One of my friends decides to have some fun, and is playing a video game on his phone alongside the guy next to him. The volume on their phone is absurdly loud, and I start getting concerned that one of the staff may hear it and separate our group.

Nothing of the sort happened though, except I spot a misty, erratic shadow in the distance. All of us know exactly what it is. In an instant we all storm towards the exit, but it's too late. School security must have seen it too, seeing as there is a smorgasbord of them lining the entrances. Kids are hurriedly cramming themselves into buses, and we also decide it's our best course of action.

I get pushed towards the back by a flood of 9th graders, but I can still see my friends in the bus. My girlfriend is sitting right in front of me.

Somewhere along the way we manage to get off the bus and tour an abandoned neighborhood. The four of us are scavenging for just about everything: food, water, medicine, Band-Aids, clothing, weaponry (Kitchen knives mostly) and whatever else we feel is necessary. The "camera" then pans upwards towards the sky, as if it were the end of the episode or something.

I think the main thing that got to me in this dream was the 'reality' of it all. Like, sure, I don't have a wife and a daughter in the real world, but it's the details that got to me. The first genuine crush I had was with a blonde girl, very similar in complexion to the DC wife in the dream. I did end up spending a lot of time with her, so a bond definitely was brewing (At least my perspective). I myself have jet black hair, so having a daughter that has the same color hair I have wouldn't be too far off. And with me owning the house my parents have now? Pretty much all of my siblings have moved out in some form or another, so that just speaks for itself.

I gotta say, the thought that all my years of life were completely untrue and waking up into a completely new one kinda broke me on the inside.

    5. Day 136: As Per Usual

by , 06-27-2018 at 01:57 PM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Fell asleep at: 3:00 AM

      Woke up at: 7:30 AM

Dream 103: Humiliated By My Uncle...Again

Inside my house--early hours of the morning or approaching nighttime, can't really tell. My aunt pulls me and several of my family members aside to talk to us about an upcoming trip they have planned for us. As she's telling us this, I zone out and ask her what we're talking about.

My uncle points this out and gets everybody in the room to laugh at me. No one else's fault but mine perhaps... I try to hold my anger and embarrassment in, and ultimately just consider walking out of the conversation. Even in my dreams I tend to bottle up my emotions.

Several hours pass and I'm in the living room with my yet-to-be brother-in-law watching something on our phones. My brother walks behind me to check out what I'm playing.

    6. Day 116: Arcade Phantasm

by , 06-06-2018 at 06:44 PM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Dream 97: At The Arcade

Inside a Cinemark-type building; lots of dark red and black everywhere. I'm racing my brother around the hallways, sticking close to the walls to get around quicker (Thank you Gorman Race Track). On the third lap, I bolt it as fast as I can, narrowly avoiding being face-planted into the wall. Security starts catching on and warns us against running around the theater again.

My brother and I head for the arcade portion of the building. There's your cookie-cutter Pac-Man machines and lame cabinets--nothing special. Until I come across this one machine at least...

Well, two of them. My mom tagged along and she used the cabinet behind me.

The controllers were the weirdest things I've seen. They were wooden cylinders with red buttons on randomly placed sections of the controllers. There were also two of them per person, one for each hand. Both of the cabinets were classic Castlevania clones.
    7. Day 113, 114, & 115: Fear The Grazing Dead

by , 06-05-2018 at 05:45 PM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Day 113:

      Nothing to report.

      Day 114:

Dream 96: And yet another zombie apocalypse dream, again

I don't get why these dreams are so common for me. Anyway, the dream revolved around me trying to chase away diseased cows away from our food supply. I was in full cowboy gear; horse, lasso, the whole shebang. I think one of them ended up in the ranch so, yeah, Mad Cow a'coming.

      Day 115:

      Nothing to report.
    8. Day 111 and 112: Slow Day

by , 06-03-2018 at 05:07 AM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Day 111:

      Nothing to report.

      Day 112:

      Fell asleep at: 3:00 AM

      Woke up at: 10:00 AM

Dream 95: Ascending the Cursed Tower

Dreamed about a video game level taking place inside of a wizard tower. The level would scroll along with the player's movement as they moved right and up the tower. The character in question is the character I drew, Dragon Kid.
    9. Day 110: Breaking the System

by , 05-31-2018 at 02:53 PM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Fell asleep at: 12:00 AM

      Woke up at: 7:30 AM

Dream 94: securityguard.exe has stopped working

School cafeteria; daytime, in line for lunch. I remember it perfectly, macaroni and cheese, bread, corn, and PB&J. The line was getting shorter by the second until I reached the register. The PB&J morphed into a grilled cheese, something I thought was odd but never acted on it.

Approaching the register I see not a lunch lady, but a female security guard (One that I'm familiar with). She tells me that I couldn't have the grilled cheese because I already grabbed a mac & cheese. This made no sense to me seeing as I saw three kids walk by her with both a grilled and mac & cheese.

Then she says I will only acquire both food items if I prove to her I'm a true Christian(?). She asks me a couple pretty easy questions but one ends up tripping me, "What is one famous Christian Russian philosopher?" I don't happen to know any Russian Christian philosophers myself, so I end up guessing.

      Then she breaks.

For whatever reason, her face is frozen with her mouth wide open, and speaking in tongues. Her gaze is locked straight on me as I try to get away from her. She doesn't move an inch, but she's still speaking in tongue. I end up leaving the school building with my lunch.
    10. Day 108 & 109: Hey, Me.

by , 05-30-2018 at 06:33 AM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Fell asleep at: 11:00 PM

      Woke up at: 7:00 AM

      Dream 92: Reflections

In the car with my brother, daytime. We're driving down the highway. My brother next to me is holding the phone camera to my face, and I'm trying to get it off of me.

I managed to steal a glimpse of myself in the mirror. It was oddly clear and high res. I think it looked a little more attractive than I do in WL (Heck, I felt like Dreamy Luigi from M&L: Dream Team. No real difference except I looked better).

      Dream 93: Ham and Anger

In the kitchen with my sister and her boyfriend, morning. They had just made me food (Migas with ham on the side). I was also watching Hulu on the Switch and I had my headphones on (The ones I lost a couple days ago).

My cousin (Let's call him Quiet J, because why not) walks in and, being as standoffish as he is, says something to me while failing to acknowledge I was wearing headphones. I remember it being some kind of insult but I didn't want to make him angry while he was there, so I let him get his food and go to my sister's room.

I ask my sister what he had said to me. She responded with something I don't quite remember. I then told her, annoyed, "I didn't ask how 'pretty' he thought I looked, I'm asking 'what did he say about me?''' That shut her up real quick and the dream ended shortly thereafter.
    11. Day 73: Dark Side of the Neighborhood

by , 04-24-2018 at 03:39 AM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Fell asleep at: 11:00 PM

      Woke up at: 7:20 AM

Dream 77: Third Lucid This--Well, Not Year, But...

I can now firmly say that careful attention to memory, recall, and presence basically guarantees you a lucid dream. After a three week period of pure, unadulterated laziness, I finally re-implemented my awareness practices.

I got lucid in the area between my house and my neighbor's, where my sister lives. After looking around, I decided it was best if I visited my sister's apartment. Needless to say, it looked nothing like the real thing. It had an extended porch, the inside looked like it was three times the size of her apartment, and the layout was insanely obtuse.

Frisky business occurred, because of course it did, but I was also becoming more and more annoyed by the dream character within it. Unlike previous lucids, they were all too keen on remembering the things I did to them to get them out of my way. I ended up feeling really bad about the whole thing. My sister, then on the couch, was reprimanding me further. I tried employing some dream control shenanigans including but not limited to:

1: Snapping my fingers to make her disappear.

2: Shooting imaginary guns from my fingers.

3: Trying to turn her into an inverse-vortex/black hole.

I had ended up in this lounge-like hallway with pillows strewn about. My sister came up and reprimanded me for how I had treated her. "How the hell do you remember this?" I thought. DCs had never had this level of coherence before.

I was on the verge of tears after that confrontation. I found a door at the end of the hallway, and inside of it was a bald man wearing a brown suit, lime green tie, and glasses. I talked to him for a little bit and asked him how I could make it up to them (Even though I didn't, I just wanted the DCs to stop reprimanding me). He wrote something down on a notecard and gave it to me.

It was in Spanish, and I forgot what it was.

I decided I may as well be "nice" to these dream characters (Even if I thought it was a waste of my time). I told them I would make it up to them by getting them something from Stripes (A gas station). As I left, I told my brother that Nemo (My male puppy) was getting blood around his hind leg.

Oh yeah, throughout the dream Nemo was getting progressively bloodier. I felt bad for the little guy. Turns out the only DC that'll earn my pathos are my puppies. But I knew it was a dream, so no worries. It would honestly pain me to see him like that in real life...

It was dark outside, the absolute middle of the night. There was one kid walking in front of me on the sidewalk. I thought it would be funny to mess with him. I hunched forward, with my arms spread out, and trudged along as if I had a limp. I saw a family arguing about something to the left of me in the neighborhood.

At the end of the sidewalk lied a black and metal electronic gate. The kids were talking about "he" was getting closer. I panicked and entered the other side of the gate as quickly as I could. On the other side of the gate (And a short walk away) lied Stripes.

One problem: It was closed. The lights were completely turned off. Barren...quiet...I didn't like it one bit. Feeling defeated (And terrified) I went back from where I came from, taking an alternate path.

Dream 78: A Sort Of Continuation

My tía (Spanish for aunt, as she likes to be called) is talking to the rest of the family inside the apartment setting of the previous dream. Something about how her son (Who has sadly passed away, but that wasn't how it was in the dream) was getting into REM sleep because she saw him talk in his sleep.

My puppies were fighting really violently in the back. One of the women yelled at them to get them to quiet down.

Dream 79: Hick Kids In Cars

My brother and I are in the backseat of this run-down red truck. There's a bald kid sitting in the driver's seat. He has the most annoying southern snotty-hick-kid accent you could ever imagine, and his attitude was even worse. It was still dead of night, and he was telling us these urban legends about shotgun-wielding maniacs that lived in our neighborhood.

And what did he do? Drive by each and every single one of them just to get a reaction out of 'em.

This all comes to a head when he crashes into a junk pile situated in the middle of the neighborhood. The upper half of a poor, shirtless guy flies by my brother's window. I know he's mortified by this, but he tries to internalize the fellings he's experiencing. A sick part of me wonders how that guy lost the lower half of his body.

      Dream 80: Yuck.

I was standing in front of the mirror. One of my teeth was loose, and so I fiddled away at it to get it to come off. It was a sickly light brown color, and almost squishy. On the other side of my jaw was another loose tooth, so I wiggled it off and, again, it was brown and squishy.

I don't brush my teeth often IRL. While my teeth are nowhere bad as that shown in the dream, my family has complained about it. If even the inner parts of my mind are telling me to brush them, then I should really get to doing it more.

      Dream 81: DKC Returns

So, I had just bought DKC Returns not too long ago. It's a fun game, if a bit easier than the others, but one thing I really love doing is collecting all the Puzzle Pieces and KONG Letters. The dream I had is a natural side effect of what happens when I play a video game for too long.

I'm playing on the level called Poppin' Planks when I reach the pirate ship part of the level. There's this hidden puzzle piece underneath all of this junk. I use the Ground Slam attack to lodge it out of there, and then a cutscene plays.

DK and Diddy both pull out a HUGE chunk of earth, with the puzzle piece still on top of it. Suddenly Luigi shows up, with DK jokingly telling him, "Are you ready to fight for what's at stake?" Referring to the puzzle piece on top. Luigi is trying to balance himself on the large chunk of earth as DK and Diddy both mess with him in the process. They all disappear into the sunset, Luigi still dangling on the huge rock.

    12. Day 66 --> Day 72: Bleh--er--Blah

by , 04-22-2018 at 04:13 PM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
Nothing much happened for the first three days (Day 66 to 68). Being suddenly woken up in the morning really screws with my recall.

      Day 69:

      Fell asleep at: 11:00 PM

      Woke up at: 6:40 AM

      Dream 72: Cut Finger

For some reason I can't quite explain, I reached for the knife and cut myself on my finger. It was a searing, burning pain. God, I hated it.

Dream 73: Falling Deeper Into Sleep

In my bedroom, nighttime. The lamp is on and the TV has been turned off. I hop right into bed after turning the lamp off. A maelstrom of random and incoherent thoughts swirled around me when I was near sleep, but I can't really remember any of it.

      Dream 74: Chameleo-guin

This one was a bit random.

So, a penguin is trying to avoid capture by four robots (One of which is a walking trash can). First he hid in a filing cabinet, with the trash can bot walking by him, and then he hid inside of a picture frame, disguising himself as a dove. Once the robots went past, he decamouflaged himself and hopped out of the picture frame. One of the robots finds him and sets off an alarm letting the others know he's there.

      Then the dream ended.

      Day 70:

      Nothing much to report.

      Day 71:

      Fell asleep at: 11:40 PM

      Woke up at: 9:00 AM

Dream 75: Yer Me Best Mates

The dream centered around me (A sort of omnipotent force in the dream) trying to save a pirate ship from a bundle of dynamite that was placed on the ship. I couldn't for the life of me find the explosive. And when I did, I discovered it wasn't a stick of dynamite after all, but a modern-day explosive, so splashing seawater onto it wasn't going to make it any better.

I then switched to first person POV. The rest of the pirate crew was solemnly watching the night sky, almost in horrid anticipation of when the bomb was going to explode. One of the pirates was even playing music on a guitar. It was oddly relaxing, but we knew the end was coming.

      Day 72:

      Fell asleep at: 12:00 AM

      Woke up at: 9:00 AM

Dream 76: Yet another failed RC

I'm pacing around the parking lot in front of the band hall, trying to do reality checks. I do the nose plug RC and breathe in some air from it, but ultimately disregard it. I do the finger through palm RC, but that didn't work at all.

I also remember stumbling into the locker room, but then immediately walking back out.

After all that I end up in my sister's car along with my brother. He talks to her about some award he got, and I immediately tune him out.

    13. Day 48 & 49: The Calm Before The Lucid

by , 04-04-2018 at 04:12 AM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
Didn't recall anything on Day 48, except for some vague imagery. Fell sleep around 11:00 PM and woke up around 7:00 AM. Dream counter: 59.

Day 49 is when things start to pick up. I guess thanks to reading up on both Sageous's 'Lucid Dreaming Fundamentals' and FryingMan's 'Unified Theory of Lucid Dreaming', as well as Sensei's 'Thanks For All The Fish', Dolphin's 'Essentials to Having A Lucid Dream', and some ancient, long-forgotten DJs I found in the grandfathered DJ forum. Needless to say, this couldn't have been possible without them. So, thanks if any of you are reading this.

      Day 49:

      Fell asleep at: 11:00 PM

Woke up at: 3:00 AM and 6:30 AM

      Pre-WBTB

      Dream 58: Lucid Once More!

Riding with my family in the large SUV. From where we're going, I can recognize that we are going out of downtown and headed towards the high school, but we're going in the completely wrong direction from where we should be going. Usually we go towards the intersection on the way to school, and out of the neighborhood caught in between the school and downtown. Immediately, I get that "feeling" that Sensei elaborated on in his post, and I just went with it. No further questioning required.

I open the car door and gingerly step out. I think the car might've stopped on my way out. Everything was super vivid and really bright, too--something someone would associate with a bright summer day. I don't exactly take in the time to soak it in, I'm just so excited to have gotten this far.

I spot a girl by the side of a building, some stuff happens, and I then try to change up the dream environment. I woke up shortly after. Not because of a sudden "jolt" of excitement (If that were the case I would have woken up a whole lot earlier), but I think because I caught the LD near the end of a major REM period, that and I lost my train of thought sometime near the end of my lucidity.

I have a system set up where, whenever I get lost in my thoughts, I interrupt whatever's going on and either observe my surroundings or do an RC. It's a really efficient system, mostly because I tend to fantasize about things on a regular basis. This is basically the only way I RC now, when I'm not being observant/aware. I really regret not having this system down-pat, as I feel it could have helped me not to lose track of myself at the end of my LD.

I woke up subsequently after that LD. I walked around a little bit, pondered whether to write down the dream in my DJ, and just decided to use a mnemonic technique to remember it in the morning. I thought having a really bright phone screen in my face during the middle of the night would only keep me up.

      Post WBTB:

Dream 59: False Awakening and an LD in one night? Nice.

Pretty much what it says on the tin. I had a FA where, during the middle of the night, I got up to record my previous LD, alongside a dream I don't remember happening at any point.

      Dream 60: Tantalizing Trump Towers

I'm in this barren, empty room with pillars and a kitchen set in the back. Everything was colored pink, or a really faded red--one or the other. Then I lost my train of thought (Or, in the context of this dream journal, pulled into the Thinkspace). It was about Trump Tower, the one situated at New York City. Apparently, the design of the tower has this window that, if directly shone upon by the sun, would then blast concentrated solar energy upon Central Park, setting it ablaze. Pretty...interesting to say the least.

      Dream 61: Tower Defense-Os

Nothing much to this one. Just something about a tower defense game only with classes duking it out on top of a sea of milk and corn flakes.

      SIDE_NOTES:

      1. To make this less of a headache to read, I bolded the titles for each dream. I'm always for convenience (Maybe because I'm really lazy), so I hope this helps for people who want something easier to digest.

    14. Day 46 & 47: April Fools...

by , 04-01-2018 at 10:31 PM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
Nothing much happened on Day 46. I fell asleep at midnight, and woke up around 9:00 o' clock. I do recall some dreamlets, so let's bump up that counter to 57.

      Day 47:

      Fell asleep at: 2:00 AM

      Woke up at: 9:30 AM

Dream 58: The Ultimate April Fool's Trick

Happy April Fools, SubC, I hope you like it.

So, the dream starts out with me in a classroom. The lights are on, though I still have trouble seeing. I have an enormous sense of presence within the dream, what with it all taking place in the first person. I lose myself in my train of thought as I'm exiting the building--something about a detective and his status.

Once I do exit the building though, a little, teeny tiny thought comes into my head. "What is so dream-like about this? What shouldn't be here?" And so I look around.

To my right I see two busses on top of each other blocking the entrance, to my left I see a guy in a clown costume wrangling a half-rhino-half-antelope thing by its leash. The Rhinocerope is tugging really hard on the leash, and the clown can barely hold on.

For some reason, THAT doesn't trigger any lucidity. I then went over to the area in front of the band hall, and I see my dad talking to about two or three people. The dream ends soon after that.

      Side-notes:

      1. I had a very apathetic feeling throughout the entire dream. Though my sense of presence that I achieved is honestly unprecedented. I hope I can get that feeling going so I can achieve a proper DILD next time.

      2. I tried using MILD before I went to bed. Repeating the phrase, "I am present in my dreams" and (I believe) "My dreams are vivid" before going to sleep.

    15. Day 39 --> Day 44: A Change Of Attitude

by , 03-30-2018 at 05:32 AM (An Insomniac's Dream Journal)
      Yes it's been five days.

On days 39 to 42 I pretty much fell asleep at the same time (11:30 PM) and woke up at the same time (7:00 AM) so nothing much there. They were not very eventful honestly as I was really busy with homework and family issues I can't exactly discuss. Nevertheless, I have sought to change this.

About a few days ago, I read up on Fryingman's Unified Theory of Lucid Dreaming post and Twoshadows' Dream Journal before going to bed. I'm implementing Fryingman's awareness and reflectiveness principles in order to feel more 'present' in my dreams, thus leading to a higher chance for lucid dreams. And what do you know, that leads us to Day 43, the day I took back my starring role in my dreams. Because ironically, even in my wildest dreams, you still have to work for what you want.

      Day 43:

      Fell asleep at: 12:00 AM

      Woke up at: 7:20 AM

Dream 54: A Robot Named Chew & Crap, Forgot My Belt...

Mom's driving, I'm in the large black car. It looks like we're driving back from school, towards where the bridge over the canal seems to be. I'm watching something on my tablet, a cartoon very much in the style of Danny Phantom or Fairly Oddparents.

A humanoid, muscular man-like robot is spouting some menacing dialogue. His voice is deep, almost like a deeper take on Grim's voice in how he talks. In particular, he seems to be talking about his teeth, and the chomping power they possess. The little girl (Who he's apparently talking to) asks him if he can drink water or fluids. He reprimands her by saying, "Of course! That's what the pink tooth is for!"

In an attempt to gauge out my mom's reaction to any of this, I always have one eye focused on the screen, and one on my mom. Right after she hears the 'pink tooth' bit, she looks back with this sort of half-shocked, half-disgusted pace. I immediately get flustered by that and just focus my attention on the scenery.

My mom parks in a nondescript building near the canal, in the general area where an apartment complex should be. We get off and I notice something:

One: It's early morning, and kind of chilly, as well as humid.

And Two: I forgot my belt.

"Ah--dang it! I forgot my belt..." I rush back to the car, trying to hold up my pants, and tell my mom the news. I have the faintest feeling that she has gone back to the house before to pick something up earlier on, and right after that my mom tells me she'll get my belt.

As she's leaving she tells me to sit down in front of the building until she comes back. Looking below me, I see a wet puddle, and I briefly reconsider that notion. "It looked like it might've rained earlier in the morning." I thought to myself.

Then, out of the blue, I see my two puppies, Nemo and Kleo. They walk out of the building, jump around on my legs for a little bit, and go back inside, playing with an old woman (Who actually kinda reminds me of my grandma).

      Dream 55: More Random Nonsense

Some dream with a Terraria aesthetic. I don't remember much about it, honestly...

      Dream 56: Huddle 'Round...Me!

I'm in an orange-walled house. I'm sitting down in an awesome large wooden desk, using the laptop. My sister is crouching down next to me, and so is her boyfriend.

A whole lot of my family is there, actually. Though I can't recall any specifics.

      Day 44:

      Fell asleep at: 11:40 PM

      Woke up at: 7:10 AM

Dream 56: More like Google Instant Transmission...

I remember being with my brother a lot in this dream, even though we had a particularly intense argument that day, but that's not what I'm concerned about.

So, my and my brother are deciding where to go to on our trip. We pull up Google Maps on my phone and start selecting designations at random. I particularly remember going to some Middle Eastern "beach" area with one beautiful sunset.
