      I was bouncing around on a basketball court since I was one of those flame things from the T-shirts and then I went into this shack and shape shifted into two different people. I tried to change into Avatar: The Last Airbender characters. I tried a lot of them and I was able to Earthbend, Waterbend, and Airbend. Just not Firebend. The End.

      This was awesome! I'm not that interested in pokemon right now, and I don't know why I decided to try shapeshifting into one, but regardless, this was one of the best lucids I've had in a few weeks.

      I was in some sort of large community hall. It was very modern-looking. The room was well-lit, and the floors and walls were almost completely smooth. There were large rectangular glass sculpture mosaics placed randomly around the room and all the reflections bounced off of each other. The room consisted of two separate levels; exactly one half of the room was a few inches higher than the other. Joining the two levels were two or three small steps, and this was where I stood. In this area, there was two glass mosaics (described earlier) on either side of me. Because of this, and the shadows the sculptures casted, it was darker where I was standing. When I actually looked at the mosaics with more awareness than before, I saw that the glass was solid and wasn't actually made of tiny pieces of glass. The solid "mosaics" then turned into shiny black granite sculptures, still the same shape as before.

      I could see my reflection in them, and I exclaimed, "wow, I can actually see my reflection!" At that moment, I became lucid and made another exclamation, more excited than before.

      Then I thought of my dream goals, and after a few moments of standing there without any idea as to what they were, I decided to ditch the goals and try something else. The first word that came into my head was "Suicine", a pokemon. Okay, good enough, but I still wasn't sure as to what I could do with one. I walked up the few steps and was now in the open part of the room. I looked around and the lighting suddenly became dimmer, although not uncomfortably dark. "Increase lighting", I said commandingly, and the lighting increased a bit. I didn't want to spend the rest of the dream making it even lighter, though. I turned around, expecting a Suicune to be there, and it was.

      It was actually very realistic for the most part, properly proportioned and the right colors, and I could see the details of the fur on its face and body. It was staring at me from fifteen or twenty feet away, and then began to quickly dash towards me. I was hoping it wouldn't make a run for me, but I thought it was a bit late to try fixing that. My lucidity was a bit lower now, but I could still think pretty well. I waited for it to come very close to me, and then I turned around, facing the other way. I saw the Suicune blend over my own body, like a blanket, and I could feel myself inside it now, as if I'd merged with it. I now began to walk and the shape of the Suicune became more and more defined. I began to run fast, on all four legs, up a set of granite stairs that led outside. It was fairly dark but this still didn't bother me. I was now along the side of the building, made of the same reflective granite as the sculptures inside.

      I ditched the Suicune guise by expecting myself to be me again, and looked at myself in the granite, waving and doing all sorts of silly things. Then I thought it would be cool to shapeshift into a Giratina, so I did this, using the same method as before. I saw a Giratina in origin forme flying down on me from the fairly dark sky, and then I just let it fuse with my own body. It felt quite strange. I turned around to look in the mirror and saw a Giratina in my place, but it was now in altered forme (the forme with legs, not a serpentine body). I walked to the left and saw the Giratina do the same thing. Then I flapped my wings and rose off the ground a few inches. I looked away from the mirror and began to fly into the darkness of the area. The lighting increased around me then, as if I were holding a lantern in my hand. Wherever I flew, the area was lit up for a radius of around twenty feet.

      Fun dream, but the writing's kind of screwy.

      Moving out of Saskatchewan! Maybe I'll stop dreaming about "Ixburg".

      I've de-aged again. I have the impression of messy black hair, and apparently I'm Harry Potter. Cool.

      I'm also trapped in a cave.

      "I can't let ya leave, 'Arry," explains Hagrid, turning to a conveniently placed stove to pull a kettle off the boil, "The Ministry won' allow it."

      "I see." I'm standing with my hands at my sides, eerily calm. The lack of expression seems to unnerve him.

      I'm unconcerned. Hagrid has already given away the secret, and he has his back turned.

      I raise my right hand. "Imperio."

      I walk out into blue skies.

      In the time since I've left the cave, I've fought off a few extra-inept stormtroopers, easily taken care of. (I actually wasn't sure about one. Thought he might have been a shadow-trooper, but he died easily enough.)

      I had another encounter with Berserker!Hagrid. Apparently three layers of Imperius spells don't do anything positive to your sanity.

      Beat him.

      Now I'm wandering around Ixburg, heading toward the east end of town for some reason.

      I'm trying to fly. Annoyed that it's not working. I can manage some of the jumps, but I can't stay in the air.

      Standing in the center of an open road, I concentrate on growing red, hawk-like wings. They extend from my arms, so I don't have to concentrate on a new set of limbs. I flap the wings, and take off.

      Passing the warehouses on the edge of town, I notice Imperials swarming the place. Apparently it's their base.

      I stand across from Darth Vader.

      "I am your father."

      I'm unimpressed.

      We fight, but he fades into the background.

      I remember Capture the Flag, from Jedi Academy. That was fun.

      A stormtrooper holds the blue flag, and is standing on top of the empty red base. He's waiting for someone to return the flag so he can score.

      I force push him off the building, and he goes crashing into the corrugated siding of another warehouse. Dead already. Hn. Blue flag returned.

      The blue team scores, and I grab the red flag. Darth Vader's still lurking around here somewhere. Something's glitching on him, maybe? He can't jump onto the roof.

      I fly off toward the hospital on the other side of town, the blue base, after sprouting another set of wings. I wonder how I'm carrying the flag without hands. I try not to think about it. Maybe I'm holding it with my teeth.


      In another dream, I'm standing in a hallway, looking at the men's and women's bathrooms, which are side by side. I have no fucking clue which one to use.

      He's killed, just like that. His daughter, seven years old, is alone in their apartment across town. I'm the daughter.

      I slip from the bed, tiny and blonde and short-haired, and push open the door to the rest of the apartment. Somehow, I'm not surprised to see a man there. The man is stocky and blond, and I can see that he's grinning when the orange light from the window hits his face.

      I incline my head. "Sir." I say, my voice neutral.

      He grins wider and nods back. I step back into the doorway of my bedroom, and he brushes past me into the bright light of the hallway.

      He'll be back, if only to keep an eye on me. I need to leave.

      I'm a man in a black suit, sitting in the back of a black car, which is driving to the outskirts of a town in Illinois. And we're in Illinois, of course, because the Organization tracked an Extranormal here. One false move, one positive test, and suddenly Jane Doe (Age 17, Grade 12, parents work from home) is about to be assassinated by a team of armed government goons.

      It's funny. Extranormals can't strictly be barred from going to school, or holding regular jobs. Hell, they can even travel. Different countries have different restrictions, of course, but the good ol' US of A is all about liberty. The Organization can track them, though. Legality's a little fuzzy, but some real dangerous ones pop up occasionally. What to do with them?

      Here's the thing: Extranormals go crazy all the time. They lose control of their powers and suddenly they're either a human icicle or a pile of ashes. Most of the time they take innocent bystanders with them. It's really no problem at all to fake a meltdown. Kill the EN, murder all the bystanders, blow shit up. It's easy.

      This one's powers are a little more subtle, so no flashy special effects. Fortunately, ENs tend to be a little crazy to begin with, so it wouldn't be unheard of for one to suddenly... snap. Possibly kill her entire family with a butcher knife. Double murder-suicide, neat and clean.

      The man in the passenger seat has the knife.

      We pull up the gravel driveway. The other three men silently open their doors and step out. I hide a grin by turning toward the empty road as I step out of the car. No one's coming.

      The plan is to enter the house and kill the parents, then ambush the girl when she comes home from school.

      Neat and clean.

      Except.

      Her father died ten years ago.

      Her mother died even before that.

      And Jane Doe is a really stupid pseudonym.

      The only person in the house is the lodger who rents out the basement. That lodger is an Extranormal himself, a young black man who's trying to lie low. Obviously, that's not working out.

      I can sense him in the front entrance of the house, ready to attack the first man who comes in. I give the all-clear to the other men.

      The man with the knife kicks open the door and walks into an ambush. I shoot the other two in the back.

      Once upon a time, there was a man in a black suit. The man was supposed to sit in the back of a black car, and break into a house, and help murder an entire family. While he was still alive, this man used to really hate shapeshifters.

      Hello, I'm on sleeping pills. This should be interesting.

      I'm in the midst of an ill-defined series of sex dreams. I remember switching genders at least once. Something clues me into the fact that I'm dreaming, but I'm feeling a little distracted at the moment.

      The dream is morphing. I feel disconnected, and there's a whole bunch of white space. A DC turns into something two-dimensional. A person-sized poster? A mirror? The image in the glass-slash-paper is still the same man. He doesn't seem concerned.

      I'm sleepy.

      Mirrors. Nomad. I wander outside, unconcerned with how I get there. There's a lonely cluster of pine trees, surrounded by a mish-mash of buildings associated with my childhood. The dirt has been tilled recently; there's not even a bit of debris left on the ground.

      "You're in a forest, surrounded by black-barked trees." I recall, "There's a path. Something left." I pause, trying to remember. "Late summer."

      I give up at this point. I was hoping to call up the requisite imagery just by reciting the words, but it looks like that plan's out.

      I walk up the dirt path. There's an idea in my mind, that I need to shed my clothing to complete a ritual. The mirror is in the trees. I throw a light-coloured button-up shirt to the side and brush my hands over a tank top. I'm hoping that my shapeshifting won't go out of control, because I'm pretty sure I'm stuck halfway between forms. I'm not in the mindset of my character. Everything is out of focus.

      Another distraction. I'm running down an alley, towards someone. Jumping a white fence. Trying to find trees at the center of a labyrinth.

      This has by far been one of my favorite dreams of my life. Anyway, here it is.

      I went on a vacation with my family to Europe. On the vacation I met someone who told me that I had the ability to transform into a canine(not specifically wolf or dog, just canine...hard to explain) He brought me to his clan, who could all do it as well. He told me of their history, that there were three clans. Their was the Protector clan. They did everything in there power to keep the race alive and defend from threats. Another clan, a neutral clan, did next to nothing for anybody, had no name or respect, and merely stuck together and went through life like a normal human. I got the distinct impression they were looked down upon and began to feel the same way as my mind began to adopt the pack way of thinking that dogs have and I understood how selfminded they were.. The last clan, the avengers, where a group who settled the scores. They would take any offenses to the clans into their own hands and take revenge for those offenses. Upon finishing the relation of their(our) history, we journeyed to meet the avengers. Once again, the "neutral" clan was completely dropped off the radar. When we got there, we met with their leaders, one of whom I knew from highschool, we had been good friends, and we greeted each other as such and were glad to have the same ability. He invited me to be in his clan, however the protectors wished me to stay with them as well. After a moment, the leaders of the avengers decided that we could decide that later, but that for now we should have some fun. So they took us to a Night Club they owned on their turf that was solely for our kind, and we partied. There were people playing hockey in an arena inside the club but with a regular ball instead of a puck, and at one point they accidentally shot the ball off into the dance floor, near which I was standing. I saw the ball and decided to try out my new form again(I had done so often in the dream, especially on the journey to the avengers) and I jumped through the air towards the ball, changing into wolf form midflight, and landing beside the ball fully changed. Some girls by the bar thought it was cute that I was so fastenated by my new form and commented on it saying, "Oh look! He is still fascinated with his fangs!" and then giggling. I felt a little like a noob, but in a welcomed sense, as though I would be mentored and taught in a fun, teasing manner. Everything was playful, I imagine this was due to the effect that the wolf form had over our mind. Attempting to pick up the ball, I realized my mouth was too small to pick it up so I changed back into a human as I picked up the ball in one smooth movement. With practice I knew I would eventually be able to hold the ball in my mouth. Beautiful girls, comrades, shots, and a fun atmosphere occupied the rest of my dream, and I never was required to choose a side that night.

      I expect very much to revisit this a lot when I get down LDing and Dream Control. This has filled my thoughts a lot over the days following it. I may write a book.....a very memorable dream to say the least. The fact that my mind was affected by the experience was amazing. The vividness extended farther than sight and sound....Does anyone else have their mind/thoughts affected by shapeshifting?

      I'm travelling through a village. Their level of technology seems medieval at best. A little girl is suspected of being a witch. I help her escape.

      We wander up a path through an idyllic countryside, hilly and covered in green. I lead and the girl, ten or so, trails slightly behind me. The hinges of the wooden gate creak as they move, and I hold the gate open. The girl shrieks in delight and runs onto the field. A dark brown horse is running towards us. It has odd, light-coloured streaks painted across its side. As it approaches the girl, it slows down. The girl jumps up and down, asking if she can ride it.

      "He doesn't like anyone, even me." I say, studying the horse. I smile when the horse snorts. "Especially me. I think he might like you, though."

      The girl climbs on the horse's back, and the two of them gallop across the fenced enclosure.

      Later, we're sitting inside a log cabin that resembles a barn. The black horse is now a black owl, perched on a railing. I sit across from him, and we watch the girl explore the building as we talk. She runs back over to us, smiling as she sits down on the couch.

      "We're going to have to winter-proof the house if she's going to stay with you." I tell the owl seriously.

      The girl turns into a bird. I catch the bundle of feathers between my hands, gently. "You are far too domesticated." I tell her.

      I will the cracks in the wall to close, making the wood grow back together, sealing out the wind.

      It's winter the next time I return to the cabin. We play on the hill, sliding down packed snow and laughing.

      A bunch of frags last night because I didn't sleep well. I'm surprised I even recalled anything at all. Watched True Blood and that influenced many aspects of my dreams.

      Fragment #1

      I'm in a car, sitting there waiting for someone. An older man is with me. I know who he is in the dream, but waking, I can't remember. Dom's character from Inception opens the car door and sits down in the driver seat. I scoot over (somehow we can fit all of us in the front seats) Dom tells me to start cleaning up the car, how could I get it so dirty? I begin to clean it with the older man giving me helpful advice on what to use, and how to clean. There was more, but I can't remember.

      Fragment #2

      I'm a knight, and I'm searching these tents for survivors. A child calls out for help, a little creepily, but I go anyway. Two children are there, a blond girl and a boy. They peek from their hiding place and tell me to come into the tent. I already know what they are. Vampires. They want me to come in the shade so they can feed. I feel bad when I go in, pretend to be stupid so they attack. I drag the girl out into the sun, but I forget what happened to the boy.

      It's winter, and I'm taking pictures of these strange peacock/eagles that have landed on this dock. It's red with gray underfeathers. Another comes, black one, and tries to hurt the first. I throw snowballs at it, stunning it and making it fly away. A second one tries to hurt the first and I hurl a big ice ball at it. It slumps over dead, then turns into a man. The red bird shapeshifts into a man and says not to worry, the others were evil.

      There was more to this dream, but I can't recall.

      In which insane and bloody doctors offer to change my appearance.

      I'm picking up floor joists by myself and placing them in a third layer over the existing ones.

      "What are you doing?" asks my dad.

      I set down the thirty-foot piece of wood and gesture like it should be obvious.

      "We already did that," says Dad, "We don't need any more."

      I look down, and realize that he's right. Oh.

      ---

      I'm driving around Quickton, driving around all the cars that are parked haphazardly in the middle of the road. Did I mention that DCs aren't allowed to drive anymore?

      ---



      I'm wandering around Ixburg. It's night, and my surroundings feel very real. I look at my hand anyway, count my fingers. I count five, but my pinky finger is just a stub, and I know that I'm dreaming.

      I go through my mental list of lucid goals, and decide that I'll try to find Hazel. Only, I know exactly how this phase of the dream usually works out, so I decide to send her a message instead.

      I pull out my cell phone and send a text, asking where she is. I immediately get a reply. I put the phone to my ear and hear a female voice telling me that she's at the zoo. I tell her to stay there; I'll try to come find her.

      "I'm lucid, I'm lucid." I mutter to myself, going over to the church doors that I'm standing near. I pull them open, thinking, Lions and tigers and bears...

      I see a faint blue light, but when I step inside, I'm still in Ixburg. I sigh. Obviously I'm going to have to work on that "power of belief" thing. Whatever, the door thing has never worked for me.

      I'm standing by a mirror and idly playing with my appearance, going for "more masculine" and "more feminine", back and forth, changing faces at random. My skin is starting to feel stretched too tight, though, and I step back from the mirror.

      A scalpel slices across my cheek, drawing blood. The girl holding it dances back, twirling happily around the room. I watch, unconcerned, as she and another, identical, girl come up to me and place their arms over my shoulders.

      I don't remember exactly what they say, but the consensus is that my shapeshifting abilities leave something to be desired. Amused, I allow myself to be led over to the bed and handcuffed to the headboard. The twins step back and make a grand gesture toward the door.

      An older woman appears, seemingly armed to the teeth with surgical tools. "I can help you gain any appearance you wish," she says.

      "What," I say, taunting, "No anesthesia?"

      "It's a dream. You don't need it."

      I pause for a second, and seriously consider the offer. "Nah," I say, freeing myself from the handcuffs with a thought. "I got this."

      The woman shrugs and disappears.

      I stand up and walk over to the closets that are in the room, looking for a grey suit. I don't know why I'm looking for a grey suit, I just feel like wearing one. I try to make one appear in the one of the two closets, but fine-tuned dream control isn't my forte. I'm better at the "mass slaughter" kind of thing.

      The twins continue to try to be helpful, but I ignore them.

      I go over to the wall and stretch out a hand. I'm trying to dissolve the dream, reach through the Void, and pull up a new location. I see spots where my hands are, and I think it's working. I reach forward - my hand bumps off of a very real, very solid feeling wall. I try again. It's not working.

      I wake up.

      I'm Dean Winchester. We're on a hunt, and I'm running from the thing we're trying to kill. I jump over the piles of wood at our job site, aiming for the window of the just-framed basement.

      I'm lucid out of nowhere. I'm still running and jumping, and nothing is chasing me. I shapeshift to default, frame slimming and I'm moving faster. I vault through the window, over a chain link fence and take down the guard on the other side. He gets up and I shoot force-lightening at him, blue electricity arcing from my fingers.

      I need to get into the Ixburg Apartments. I pull out the screen from a window on the second floor. Before I climb in, I'm distracted by a group of people in the parking lot. I recognize the character from Bum Reviews, but he runs away as soon as he sees me.

      I'm Marty McFly, in a mall, talking to Lorraine, his mom. I'm either in the future or the past, and I consider the fact that my chequing accounts shouldn't be working nearly as well as they are.

      I'm in dorms in a school. I have a top bunk. There's a ventillation shaft leading from above my bed to the library, and I take it there and back a few times in the middle of the night. Someone catches me once, and I look back and see that the tunnel I crawled through was too small to fit a person.

      I wander through the library during the day. I pick up a book and am amused to note that they cited Encyclopedia Dramatica as a reference (I can read in dreams).

      Apparently I've transferred to ACAD in Calgary. I'm mad that I've been put down as a first year, and I realize that I have to do the paperwork to transfer all of my credits from my other school.

      I talk to a guy in the dorms. He introduces himself as Josh or Joshua, and I mention that one of the DV members is named Josh/Joshua. He says that he's actually Loaf (he pronounces it "loof"), isn't that a weird coincidence? Then I run into Serenity and MoSH, as well as another girl I don't recognize.

      Now I'm staying with roommates away from campus, and I have to find the Student Services table so I can change my courses around.

      I'm following a story about two men who were intrepid adventurers in the wilds of Saskatchewan. I float down a cliff, following the story (the DCs can't see me). I realize that I'm dreaming, and I also notice that I'm barefoot. I think that the easiest way to get around that would be to shapeshift into one of the dogs, and I could follow the story better. I trot along the side of the river, trying to catch up to the group, but I notice that the setting is fading into white, and I feel myself starting to wake up.

      I'm walking along a path by the river in Quickton. There are a large number of orangutan/dog/otter hybrids about, and the locals have been warned to stay away from them. One that looks like a great dane approaches me and jumps up, trying to lick at my face. I laugh.

      Shift.


      I practically fall out of the truck when we reach the police station. "It's okay", says Kate Beckett, "You're safe here."

      My POV switches to Beckett, who's trying to solve the mystery of the invisible animalistic murderer. I'm now interacting with myself ("Sam") as the character Kate Beckett. I note that we don't have much ammo.

      An Asian woman stumbles toward the safety of the police station. Already, she's bleeding from numerous slashes to her torso, which look almost like claw marks. The monster must have followed us here.

      Sam mysteriously disappears, and we assume the worst.

      I interrogate people who are the collective head of an international company. Someone sabotages the elevator, almost killing one of them.

      They upgrade security.

      The elevator is sabotaged again. I almost catch the culprit, but I have to stay in order to save the people inside. I catch the chain of the machine used for sabotage, and pull it up to a floor where they'll be able to get out.

      The Chairman of the company is killed. The CEO chooses to reveal his identity.

      The murderer decides to talk to me. It's Sam, complete with all my lucid superpowers. Apparently, I was the murderer all along. I'm watching myself give a villainous monologue. From a third person perspective apart from Beckett's character, I'm very surprised.

      Murder Mysteries. Scare Factor: 2. Reaction: Did not see that coming.

      I'm working on a short-story adaptation of this dream, minus the identity confusion. It was actually a lot of fun.[/QUOTE]

      I've somehow been entered into a race that involves hopping on one foot and a flutter-board. I argue that 5K is a long way to hop on one foot.

      I'm crowded into the entrance of a bar. I think these are people that my brother knows. I notice that one guy is acting suspicious, so I follow him outside and onto the roof. I find him threatening another man with a knife.


      You know that little voice people have that tells them to quit when they're ahead? You don't have one!

      "Hey!" I call, stepping out of the shadows. Both men turn to look at me, one still brandishing his knife.

      "Hey, calm down," I say, hoping that I don't sound patronizing, "There's no need for that, right? Put the knife down, and we can talk."

      We circle each other, and I'm moving closer with every step to the side. The third man moves away, more or less forgotten. The man with the knife focuses all his attention on me. He's not going to listen.

      I step in without warning, grab the wrist holding the knife and twist. He doesn't drop the knife, but I have a hand on it, and suddenly I can see all the outcomes of the fight at once, blood spraying everywhere. Mostly his.

      I'm sitting back in the bar with a group of people that I know. I'm invisible part of the time, so I play with the DCs a bit, asking them what they're seeing as they look at me. One replies that she can see the skull of my grandmother's rotting corpse, covered in maggots. I decide that this game isn't fun anymore.


      The police are all over the bar, trying to figure out what happened. The patrons are willfully ignoring them. I'm glad that I'm wearing black, because at least you can't see the bloodstains. I look down at my grey shirt, covered in blood. No, I was wearing black the whole time, I convince the dream. I get back into the story by willing myself into a different form. I decide to shift into a guy, because that's an unlikely disguise. Hey, I can be Jensen Ackles!


      Yay! I'm him a lot. Why?

      I consider changing eye/hair color so I don't look like an actor, but I decide that he doesn't actually exist in this universe and go talk to the cops. Because it's... fun, or something.

      There's a female detective on the roof, speculating about what happened. I see these speculations in flashbacks. The girl (me) made a grab for the knife, she says, and cut her attacker, injuring him. Then he killed her, and disposed of the body somewhere.


      Not nearly this cool.

      I'm somewhat insulted, actually, but it helps me put the pieces together. I must have won the fight. Since the man with the knife is missing, I probably accidentally killed him and disposed of the body somewhere. Wow, do they have it backwards.

      Nobody wonders where the third man went.

      They're talking about fingerprints, so I decide this would be a good time to change mine. I will the change, and zoom back into watching an onscreen sequence of the patterns changing.

      Skinwalkers are the bad guys, right? I wonder on the irony of shifting into Dean Winchester as a shapeshifter. Am I evil right now? Maaaybe.

      I converse with the suspicious detective who probably suspects me for something. I swing around the wire fences on the rooftops for a bit, before coming back to the ground where the detective is waiting on a park bench. Apparently we had a long, in-depth conversation that I can't remember, because she actually trusts me a bit now. Yay, we're friends. Or possible love-interests. Hm.

      The detective is wondering if I'll be okay to get home by myself, being as it's after dark in a city infested by the supernatural. I assure her that I'll be fine (being as I'm one of the supernatural monsters everyone seems to be afraid of). I check the area, zooming out to the east, where I'm headed. Dark alleys lit by an orange glow. I zoom out to the west, only to find a pack of Dark Jedi closing in on us, jumping around as NPCs do in Jedi Academy. I spot a couple of green and blue lightsabers among all the red, mostly carried by those wielding dual lightsabers.

      "We should go," I say, still tracking the pack remotely. "We should go now." I'm more concerned about the detective than myself. I heal fast.

      We walk eastwards away from the group, hoping that we won't bait them if we don't run away.

      They catch up to us. Immediately, I draw dual sabers in red and blue, slashing down the first two Dark Jedi to reach us. I take down another, still standing protectively in front of the detective. I rush out past a female Dark Jedi, striking her in the back before she can turn. Finally, there are two left. I face the leader and send one of my sabers flying at his remaining minion. She's down. I rush the leader with a flurry of strikes.

      No effect.

      I pause in my offensive. "Okay," I tell him, "That was at least three direct strikes to your neck, minimum. You should be dead." He just grins.

      A blow to the arm, and I have him disarmed. I grab him by the hair and slash across his neck. "Are. You. Dead. Yet?" I ask the disembodied head. That would be a yes.

      Also, fail for lack of gore.

      I'm covered in blood, so I figure now is a good time for a tactical retreat. We make it to the Best Western where I've made a reservation. I figure we have a half hour to shower and make ourselves presentable (read: not covered in blood) before the antagonists start to come after us.

      "I'd offer 'ladies first'", but I'm the one who looks like a walking horror movie right now."

      Unfortunately, I'm really bad with numbers when I'm dreaming, so we end up wandering the halls looking for the hotel room. Which is on the third floor. No, the first. No, the second. Wait, are we in a hostel?

      I have the feeling that I ran into a recurring character last night, a woman I suspect might be my dream guide. I'm leaning toward a name along the lines of Elaine/Lane/Lana, and I think I used Elaine while I was talking to her. I don't remember what was said.

      The people taking a first aid course become evil vampires and Quickton (nickname for the city I'm living in) becomes Sunnydale.

      I'm arguing with a character from Naruto (which is odd, since I don't watch it). I think it might be Sasuke. We spot an ambassador for something and make a bet that I can't catch him.

      The man is being driven either by a car or a coach, but it's black either way. I follow from the rooftops and then from within buildings, tracking my progress mentally while I can't see the car.

      I take a shortcut, arrivin at his home before he does, coming across hostiles as soon as I do. Before I even realize that I've reacted, there are bodies on the floor. I inspect them, coming to the realization that these people were here to kill the ambassador. I just saved his life - this is an in.

      Half a dozen people walk happily through the back door, as I wait around a corner for my entrance. Hm. Too many. Presumably the ambassador's wife and family. The bodies disappear with the lack of a thought, and I step out of my hiding place, all smiles.

      Well, I'm the maid, of course! I tell them, playing on my gender, charm, and general blondeness. Who wouldn't trust a sweet, unarmed woman? (I tuck the knife/gun in the waistband of my jeans.) You mean you didn't order maid service? I say to the wife. Oh, dear, I say, the company must have made a mistake. Perhaps you can help me with the directions?

      I take out a couple pieces of paper with scribbles on them, making up street addresses as I go.

      An opportunity to talk to the ambassador arrives, and I take it. It's time to reveal my true purpose. I propose an alliance of sorts, leaning on his gratitude for saving the lives of his family. We have a common enemy after all. Blackmail is also involved.

      My name is Lucifer, and I'm busy.

      "But you have to stay here! You're the Lord of Hell!" says the ex-cherub, who seems to have been recast as my secretary.

      "I don't, actually. I've left this job once, and I'll leave again once I have this place reorganized." I'm standing up at a desk, looking at blueprints.

      I turn toward the ominous wooden door at the other end of the (hellish) office-space. The door leads to a dimension where damned souls are trapped. As they make their way to the door, they inch closer to the end of their torment. At which point, welcome to bureaucratic hell.

      He continues to pester me, "But God wants you to-"

      "Okay, look," I interrupt, "I don't care what God wants. In the actual comic book, Lucifer didn't care what God wanted. Every version of the devil, ever, actively resisted doing anything that God wanted him to do. So what makes you think that I care?"

      I realize that I've broken out of character at this point, but the demon seems to actively resist the idea that this is a dream and I'm not really Lucifer. I decide to be amused instead of summoning up a gale of fire with which to burn him alive. Because, as the devil, I could totally do that.

      Instead, I throw my hands up in the air, metaphorically, and walk through the now-open doorway to the realm of the damned. The door swings shut behind me, cutting off the shrill ranting of my unfortunate secretary.

      I take the form of a woman with short, blonde hair as I take the first steps into the realm usually thought of as Hell. This area is closest to the exit, and as such, is actually fairly pleasant in comparison to the rest of hell. This, of course, means that it's a boring approximation of a cave that slopes slowly downward. The cave curves away in the distance, and I know that it's an infinite spiral to the bottom.

      The soul nearest the door looks like a boy in his young teens, although he probably lived to be older than that. The boy is building a fence up the sloping ground, not noticing as it collapses into inexistance behind him. He is intensely focused on the task, trapped, as all the damned are, in a nightmare of his own creation. I approach, and as I do, I hear deep, threatening barking. The boy reacts in a panic, looking about wildly for the source of the noise, not seeing me.

      Part of the fence has been shaped into a basket-like form, with half-rotten plywood as the bottom. A rottweiler puppy comes into existence as I look at the space, and it barks at the boy. When the boy sees it, he starts to back away from the puppy, and away from the door.

      I'm standing directly beside the puppy, so I pick it up. The dog starts barking and the noise in the boy's nightmare lessens. I look at him, and he sees me for the first time. Finally, his eyes land on the door behind me...

      End.
