    1. Metal ornament

      by , 04-26-2014 at 08:07 PM
(From yesterday.) There's a girl on the grounds of some large estate, talking to a boy. She's been chosen to play some role in some tradition or game or something - it's something of an honor, but she's refusing to have anything to do with it. He's trying to convince her - not with any particular effort, just an aw-c'mon kind of way.

Scene change - elsewhere on that same estate, there's a different girl, wearing a rather old-fashioned maid's uniform (this is a roughly modern setting), and she's standing against a tree. I have the impression she's tied there, but I don't see ropes. This is the role that the other girl had originally been chosen for. There's a group of people who've just found her - searching is part of the game, or tradition, or whatever it is. She's got an oval metal ornament on her forehead, covering her eyes, engraved with some scene. A boy reaches out to remove it - this is also part of the game/tradition/whatever. The 'dream camera' angle changes then, so I can't see the girl's face, but I'm aware that - and this isn't part of the tradition - it will turn out the ornament has a long, thin spike underneath, and the girl is dead. I have a brief image of blood around her eyes, or possibly eye sockets - from the angle I'm standing now, off to one side, I'm not sure which.

A man's just finished examining the crime scene, though he's not anyone official. He's feeling outraged about something else he'd found, some belonging of hers that had been put on display, hung from a tree with ropes. Standing behind him is the owner of the estate, and that's who the outrage is directed towards. Highlander-inspired then: the man doing the examining takes out a sword - it had been concealed under the grey trenchcoat he's wearing - and formally introduces himself to the owner of the estate, who also has a sword, and who simply says "Yeah" - the implication being that his name's already known.
    2. Amah

      by , 03-21-2014 at 10:02 PM
An elephant is making a request of a king or a god, and saying "I am only a lowly guardsman." As he says this, I see him kneeling on a battlefield, wearing armor.

Next to the elephant, there's a man speaking with a woman from the opposing army, each with their own soldiers behind them. The woman goes by the name or title Amah. She's very beautiful and very prideful, smiling and casually resting her elbow on the shoulder of the man next to her, her servant. This is the second time they're meeting like this. The first time, she made some demand or threat which was fulfilled. This time, her servant announces that she's come to 'kill your wives' or something similar, something about causing the deaths of women at least. He says something flowery about those she's killed in the past, and how the great sympathy she has for these women is the reason she does not permit them to speak her real name. Amah says, "It would murder me. I could not stand it." She's still smiling as she says it.

She suddenly slumps forward and falls to the ground. The man she'd been speaking to has simply whispered her name.

    3. The dog-headed man

      by , 03-20-2014 at 09:47 PM
I'm looking at a man with the head of a dog, carrying something like a whip made out of live snakes, driving a chariot through a large underground hall. He's a good and trusted friend, and I've given him a highly respected position here, something to do with training or teaching. There was an assassination attempt a while ago, and ever since then he's refused to come above ground, except for twice a month, different days every month, and even then only at specific locations.

A flashback to a time shortly after that assassination attempt, from 3rd person now. The dog-headed man was resting up in a garden in an area separate from the rest of the compound, for the intelligence workers only. There's a woman there, and he's wondering if she's the one who took care of him while he was delirious. He doesn't completely trust her. She's told him before that she was designed by her masters to be a partner for "Riker" - although the dog-headed man doesn't realize it, this is a codename referring to the leader of the compound (my pov character in the previous scene. When I hear the name Riker, I associate it with Dune's Paul). While talking about various things, she complains that "my Riker's" role won't come into play until later, so for now all she can do is wait.
    4. milky spring, names overlapping, children's drawer, broken water fountain, fight after talk

      by , 03-10-2014 at 06:00 AM
      1am
I don't think I was myself. I may have been some kind of scientist. I was with others but don't recall who. We stopped at a spring of water. I had the sense this was not the first water spring we stopped at. This one had been heavily built around and looked like an indoor swimming pool only smaller. My first reaction was that we would not stay because the water looked bad to drink. It was white and more like milk than water due to all the minerals. Who would want to drink this? However I encouraged one of the others to try it - perhaps an assistant or student. He reported that actually it tasted good so I tasted it too. It did taste kind of like milkey water, not bad. I remember having some kind of a vision of some shelter or bunker and I think it was part of this dream somehow but I don't recall how. It seemed like a small room made of concrete?

Another fragment: For a banquet of sort, a collage or painting of the names of the attendees had been prepared but somehow it had gone wrong and the names all overlapped in such a way that only one naw was legible. I don't recall that name.

      3am
So it was nighttime and I was going in the dark through my kids drawers in their dressers looking for something. At one point my younger son's dresser's lowest drawer was almost empty except for a few items, one of which felt wet like maybe a wet swimsuit was in there - but in this dream I did not bother taking it out, but left it in there, just noticing it was there. Then when I later in same dream searched the same drawer again it was filled with my older son's homework instead. I extracted two pieces but when I went to a room with more light, I discovered that one of the two sheets I was holding was actualy a homework that still needed to be done, but it just had empty circles on the page and was obviously just one part of the homework, the instructions presumably still somewhere in that drawer. How was I going to find them, in the dark, in a drawer full of papers, not knowing what I was looking for? I went back to searching that drawer. At one point my older son woke up enough to realize there was an intruder in his room, and he grabbed my arm, without knowing it was me. I tried to say "it's me: Mom" but I could not speak, was like paralyzed or frozen. In hindsight, it is odd because it was my older son, but in the bed where my younger son sleeps in in real life.

Another fragment: There was some sort of contraption in my sons' room. I think it started as an alarm clock early in the dream and became a water fountain later, although it was complicated enough so maybe it was both of those and maybe more. It was broken. At first it was playing music and I could not turn it off. Then there were sharp needles sticking out of it, and one of the needles got into my fingertip and it hurt and I had to pull it out, and the machine had many more needles like it. Then it was a water fountain, but my younger son had to climb onto it in some complex way to get water. It was definitely very broken whatever it was, and not safe. And yet my dream self did not remove it from the children's room. I knew how much the kids liked it. So I tried to fix it. Then I wondered whether the boys could live with it the way it was. And only finally did I wonder whether I could get a new unbroken one to replace it. At some point in this dream I was trying to reach this contraption - I think it was when it was playing music too loud in the middle of the night - but I could not move, I was stuck/paralyzed just standig there in midst ride, reaching toward it but unable to get closer. I do not know how I got unstuck, but I don't think this was the end of this dream.

      6:30am
I was with my husband near our kitchen. He had just brewed some tea. I told him "yesterday, our older son asked how do mommies and daddies make babies?" My husband's angry reaction "And you told him that both daddy and you need to be present to answer this question!" Me "I wish I had! But when I get such a question I either freeze like a deer in the headlights or I talk before I think." My husband "where is my tea? I was holding it when you started telling me about this, and now I don't know where it is." So we started searching for his tea.

    5. Cards, aliens, and cannibals

      by , 02-11-2014 at 01:15 AM
I'm reading cards for an off-duty cop or detective - it's about his case, and it's not official. The Hermit - that's the criminal. The Emperor - that's him. And then a minor card that indicates cooperation between the two of them, and things going smoothly.

      (Woke up. Back to sleep.)

I'm talking to this alien I'm traveling with and my first instinct is to call her Red - she's red from head to toe - but I stop and think about how nicknames work in alien cultures. Best case scenario, everyone's going to wind up calling me Pink, not sure I'm up for that. Me and another alien head outside on some errand, crossing this huge field, and as we're walking I ask him about nicknames. He says, "You don't want to say my name?", and I don't know how to interpret his tone - maybe bewildered, maybe hurt, maybe I've just accidentally proposed marriage, I don't know. We're still crossing the field, but we've wound up walking on top of/sliding down a pile of giant, motionless serpents.

      (Woke up. Back to sleep.)

There are these people trapped in a cabin on a mountain by a group of killers, and they're wondering if their two friends who left earlier made it off the mountain okay. The scene changes to a group of people standing around a car parked near the base of the mountain, across a field of tall grass - the killers, a 'family.'

I switch to the POV of the father figure of the group, and I'm looking at the two young boys with us who are new to the family, keeping an eye on them. Not too worried though. Someone spots a figure moving out of the forest and into the field - the figure shouts to us when she sees us, waves her arms to get our attention. I'm thinking, huh, we missed one. We'd found a guy in the forest earlier, I hadn't realized there was still another one out there. That was sloppy.

Me and those two boys go to meet her, and she starts talking about how she needs a lift. Walking her back towards the car, we get to the part of the field near the road where the tall grass is all flattened down from what we'd done earlier, and there are a few things, plastic bags and such, scattered around on the ground. She's looking at the things on the ground and looking a little uncomfortable, she asks what we were doing out here. Having a picnic, one of the boys says. The rest of us laugh. It's technically true.
    6. Cathedrals, hearts, death, and mystery

      by , 01-09-2014 at 02:31 AM
      Just a name: Sven Odinson.

I've got some government job in which I'm part of a team of people in suits protecting someone, and we're currently in a hospital, when I pass a room where a team of people in red uniforms, EMTs maybe, are preparing for something. Something about them catches my attention as odd, and I mention to a coworker the possibility of a disguised threat. She agrees with me.

Something about political opposition to dances in cathedrals by night.

A zombie apocalypse setting, in which someone was approaching the house I was holed up in and we nearly shot each other, wrongly assuming each other to be zombies. She tries to convince me to come with her to some camp and I agree only because I'm fairly confident about being able to escape her along the way if it seems necessary, whereas if I start a confrontation with her here and now I'm fairly confident she'll shoot me. She's traveling with someone who joins her then and gives me a checkup, and she takes a very long time to find my pulse. When she finally says "Found it," I say, "Look at that, I have a heart. That's one for the books."

A little girl saying "(something) to read hearts, death to solve the mystery." A choice between two different goals, reminding us to match the approach to the goal. This is a girl who I and the people I'm traveling with met a long time ago, and at the time she just seemed like a tragic figure, sole survivor of some massacre in which she watched the deaths of everyone else in her castle and the surrounding village. When I'm thinking about this, I see a memory of one of the people I'm traveling with standing in a pool of water with her, up to his neck in the blood and gore surrounding this girl. The journey we're on somehow involves the spirit of a certain place - either we're searching for it or it's opposing us or something - and we met this girl fairly early in that journey, but now that we've met her again, we realize she's more than she seems; the tragic figure we met originally was at least partially an act, and I strongly suspect she is that spirit.

Now she's saying, "Sure you shouldn't just make perception your goal?" That's following on the death-to-solve-the-mystery thing she said just before. One of the guys I'm traveling with says, "Sorry, our goal is to take the cat out of the box." A Schrodinger's Cat metaphor; we don't want to just find the answers for ourselves, we want to eliminate the mystery completely.
    7. Trying on Names Like Hats (Dream Fragments)

      by , 03-11-2013 at 07:12 AM
In this dream I was alternating names, sort of trying them on for size, like hats (I thought in hindsight, though sadly, no actual hats in this dream before waking up, which is a shame). They were mostly old family names, like my relatives maiden names, or names of close friends of the family.

This dream was all about self-identity, and I just know that part of why I dreamed it was because before going to sleep I tried to respond toa thread on dreamviews about changing gender in dreams. I say tried because I had server failed errors, so I do not know whether I actually did respond to that thread or not.

I also had some difficulty breathing in this dream, probably due to having a lot of congestion in real life, and hat raised the anxiety level in this dream.

Of course, given my struggles with myself lately and throughout life, anxiety about self-identity is not an unusual theme for me. Who am I? I am the one who is full of contradictions, and that's ok.

I think the fact that these were old family names is significant: I am aware that part of what makes me me is my family history, the women who came before me, who changed their names in marriage to redefine ourselves.

Got it? Great! Now enjoy reading my dreams.

Ok, now it seems that i've gotten back into the swing of things with this dream of mine. Although, if i get called on a new job opportunity soon, that may reduce my chances of dreaming like i use too. Soo, what i am going to do is, try and do weekend dreaming.

I'll just save my dreams onto my computer file, and post them whenever i can. Been doing more reality checks with my totem too, so it has appeared quite a few times in my dream i had. Looks like im back on board...for now that is.

Lol, ok enough talking..here are my dreams!

      Dream #1 Making moves.

Spoiler for Theme Of The Dream:

Im in my 2nd home packing up some items in my suitcase. I notice that i see my hawk coin totem on the kitchen counter and put it in my pocket. (What a missed reality check there) I go to the den and start putting some clothes in the suitcase, and trying to hurry up. I go back into my room and my celphone rings and its Natalia. She tells me..

      (Natalia talking)

"Don't forget to stop at your 1st home, we need those files."
I tell her ok, and start looking around to see if im forgetting anything. I hear a cab blowing outside of my house, and head out the door with my suitcase.

Dream #2 How to take care of business.

Im in a hotel projected as Natalie Raitano for some reason. Its night time, and im holding a guy off of the edge of a balcony telling him to give me all of the information, or else i will drop him. The guy is screaming and yelling as im holding him by his ankles. I notice Blaze is with me too. She says something about we can always moniter his calls or something like that.

"Oh yea, that is true huh?"
We pull the man up and i grab him by his collar and tell him to make the call now. He starts calling someone, and thats all i remember there.

      Dream #3 Getting closer.

Im still projected as Natalie Raitano, and im creeping thru a long hallway.

There are corners that i stop at, and peep around while holding a silencer. I see a few men waiting by different doors and i shoot at each one of them. I now make my way thru one of the doors, and find a huge table with a list of names on it. I become lucid right here though only briefly, a man enters the door and asks me if i can help him search for someone. I told him who was it, and he mentioned his daughter. I leave the room and ended up walking with this old man, and started losing lucidity here. The man starts talking about how he wishes he could go fishing, or some shit like that..and i ended up waking up because of that.

      Dream #4 Top Secret.

Im in a room with this dude in a dim lit room, and he starts telling me stuff about the goverment is out to get him. I try and tell him to relax and not be so paranoid, but he says that it is true and wants to show me something. We head downstairs to this basement and there are a bunch of people in capsules, and people hooked up to machines and shit.
I become lucid seeing all of this, and reach in my pocket staring at everthing and rubbing my hawk coin totem. I asked the guy what was his name and he told me he wishes to remain anonymous due to potential possiblities of him being watched or something like that. I then ask him..

"So how did we find eachother?"

      "Na bro, you found me!"
I start becoming even more lucid to the point i began talking with him about stuff like wars, and poverty, and religion. He starts telling me that its all a set up from the jump or something like that, and that he only wishes that more people would wake up. I asked him how can i find him again and he says..

"Shit, you the dream navigator. I don't know how to navigate dreams like that man."
"How did you know that about me?"
"Cause they told me about you."
      "Who?"

The door upstairs is kicked in and he starts talking to me in code, and giving me certain numbers if i ever need to look for him again or something like that. I try and repeat the numbers, but he insists that we will meet again. He tells me to keep teaching people thru their dreams so we can build our nation back to the way it use to be and to be safe. He sits in a chair, and straps himself in with a device hooked up to him, and dissapears.
I hear men upstairs talking and footsteps coming towards the upstairs basement door.
I start running thru the basement looking for a way out, but find no exit. I decide to fall backwards.

      False awakening

I wake up in my 2nd home on the basement couch, and trying to remember the last dream i had. It hits me..I don't live here anymore, ans i better wake up before i forget the rest of the dream. I wake up for real, and record the dream.

      Final dream. Building a team.

Im in my 2nd home in the basement talking to a bunch of different people about dreams. (Don't become semi lucid or lucid) I start handed out totems to everybody and giving each of them a homework assignment on reality checks with their totems. Thats all i remember and wake up.
    9. Write Your Name!

      by , 08-16-2011 at 04:12 PM (Burke's Nightly Escapades)
I was in some sort of large building, similar to a mall. There were quite a few people around and I, along with several other people, were standing around a kiosk of sorts. Apparently we had signed up for a race, in which we had to write our names using various creative ways. The first one was using a code, but was in the what seemed like a store right next to us.

we all ran inside and noticed there were a bunch of trees. Not small trees like you might see in a landscaping project, but huge, full grown trees over 60 feet high. Some of which were turned over on their side. We started to climb up one of them and, at the top, were various letters and buttons. We had to spell out our name using the buttons, but it was in code. We were each given the translation of the code before, so I pulled it out of my pocket. I set it on the ground right next to me and started to press the buttons in accordance with the code. Instead of spelling out my name, i spelled out "herp mah derp"
(Thanks IRC ) Apparently I passed and was able to move on, but the person in front of me, who looked eerily familiar, had spelled out Izaya. That was it! He was a character from an anime I had been recently watching.

Unfortunately, this didn't get me lucid, but the dream went on. We kept climbing the trees and eventually got to a group of them that were hanging outside the store. There were a few pine trees and platforms right below them. I instinctively tore off several branches, enough to spell my name. I was in front so I figured I was all set and could win this no problem. I walked up to a ver elongated branch that overhang the entire hallway of this mall. I figured that we had to spell our name by throwing the branched across the hallway and onto a sticky board on the other side.

I threw the first branch and it stuck to the wall just fine. I figured that would be one line in the B. I threw another, but it didn't stick. Then i noticed that izaya guy was right next to me, and threw a branch himself. It stuck, but he changed it somehow, to show "I <3" and then a window. Apparently he loves windows? I figured that just spelling "I" wasn't good enough to win so i kept going, but now matter how many, how hard, or how soft i threw the branches, they would not stick. Izaya just sat there laughing at me, and it was then that
      I woke up.
    10. Griffin/Randy and the Bush

by , 07-30-2011 at 04:10 PM (My dream journal....)
      6-20-11

I think it started out with me and my friend Bailee going to high school orientation early. (Actually it might've been the start of the freshmen year) but I don't really know.

(Actually, before this, me and Bailee were at school and a janitor told us where our homerooms were.)

In my homeroom, there was a giant table that everyone sat around. I remember a kid named Griffin being there (but in the dream his name was Randy) and everyone joking about him and stuff (because everyone (even the teacher) knew him, except me)

The whole time I was sitting in my homeroom, I was sitting at the east side of the table. The teacher was somewhere left of me. My homeroom was in the kitchen (of the school) instead of my normal homeroom, but it looked a lot like a normal classroom. I had some stuff sitting on the giant table that I still had to get into my locker. The table was kind of like the tables in wood-shop, but lower. Not everyone was sitting at it. Some people were sitting close to the door on stools and stuff. I felt very nervous. I was the only one who still had stuff on the table (except one person still had some notebooks or paper, and I felt slightly more comfortable.).

This scene changed into me standing in front of Griffin's (Randy's) house. It was very fall-ish outside. So fall-ish that the sky was almost orange.

This scene (which only lasted a couple of seconds) transitioned into night time. I lived in the same neighborhood as Randy (Griffin) and I think we actually lived very close.

Anyway, it was night, and I don't remember sneaking out of the house, but I knew I was outside and I knew I did this often (and usually just walked around the town.).

This time, though, all I did was hide under a bush. I kept crawling really fast under it, in a very small circle. The bushes pushed hard against me as I crawled closer to the center. It had the same feeling as a night terror or whatever, though I wasn't really thinking about it at the time.

Occasionally, a car would pass and I would worry that they would see me, but eventually I panicked because I thought my parents might've realized I was gone. the last thing I remember is running through the street. Then the dream ended.
    11. Whole school in rebellion... an angel?

      by , 01-09-2011 at 06:37 PM
Sometimes in my dreams my mind will create things that i havent seen or heard of before. Sometimes its a very vivid place, or people, and the creepiest thing are the WORDS. People tell me their NAMES, and I don't know who they are. REAL, probable, concrete names. I can't remember any specific dreams where this has happened but a few, but i know its happened plenty of times. Here's one dream that had a name in it, and was very deep and meaningful.

I was at my school, (It wasnt really my school, I just knew inexplicably that it was my school) and it what nighttime. (All of my school- related dreams happen at night) I knew immediately when I entered the dream that something was very wrong. I was in some sort of class, and everyone was agitated, including the teacher. She was tripping over her words and her eyes were wide. All the students were whispering urgently, and people kept getting up and leaving. I looked out the door and I heard loud voices, and people were hurrying back and forth.
This part was hazy, apparently I wasnt feeling good and had called my mom. I somehow was in the lobby of the school. I heard the panicked voices from the hallways and an unending trickle of kids were running out the glass doors one by one. I looked out the doors at the sky and saw ominous stormclouds in the dark sky. I was very confused and went to the office to ask someone if my mom was there yet, and more importantly, what was going on. I walked in and not a single soul was there. it was very quiet. I left the room and went outside.
The walls were splattered with trash and food and paint. Certain areas of the wall were more splattered than others. Kids all over were leaning against the walls on their backs, evenly spaced, all in the same fashion. Silent. Determined. They glanced at me and then glanced away, fixing their eyes on some point in the distance. Some of them had cellphones or gameboys with them, some were bouncing back and forth on the wall, using their upper back. I turned to see I was inches away from a ve-ery strange boy. He had near-shoulder-length, messy white blond hair. his eyes were either black or dark brown, and he had fair skin. His pink lips were in a tight line, and he had earbuds in. his eyes pierced my soul for a split second and then I turned away, I had heard the familiar sound of my moms door slamming. I turned to see her car was pulled up, and that she was looking around bewildered at the kids who were running down the street like maniacs.
I motioned to her to wait, because i had to use the bathroom real quick. (I actually didnt feel the sensation I had to pee, I just knew I needed to.) I went into a stall, and the rest of the bathroom was empty. (I dont remember actually peeing) I came out and started washing up when I turned to see a lady standing behind me. She was tall and thin, flatchested, and wearing very plain clothes. Her hair didnt look too soft, and it was light blondish yellow. Her face reminded me of my aunts, but her eyes were of a young girl. She seemed to be emitting a silvery light.
      "Hello. I am ____"
I know she said a name there. (In my dreams, by the way, I never use my ears to hear. I just know that people say things) It was something similar to Lissia Sedan, one name began with an L and the other an S, and the first definitely had an S in it somewhere.
She told me something, ( I am simply FURIOUS for not remembering it), and I remember that it was VERY, VERY important to me at the time. Something along the lines of, "This looks bad, but stay strong."
Then she was gone. She didnt just dissapear, it was less sudden, like she was there and then she wasnt anywhere. i dried my hands and ran outside, and hopped into my moms car. We sped away and she asked me what happened.
      Then I woke up.
