Killing from the shadows.

I get tied up a lot. I would wonder at the Freudian implications of that, but I'm a little busy right now. What with being tied to a chair, and all. I'm at the center of an empty conference room, surrounded on all sides by bare floor space. It's almost like the huge room, with its fluorescent lights and grey carpet, is supposed to be intimidating or something. The syndicate's second in command swaggers into the room. He's an older man with greying hair, and wearing a business suit. He's confident, and self-assured, and my gods do I want to beat the smirk off of his face. He's walking towards me, and stops three feet away.

Get closer, I dare you.

"How is it," says the man, leaning in, "That you got in here? Our defenses should be impenetrable."

I tilt my head to the side, deliberately widening my eyes. "Should they, really?"

The man scowls. "You should tell us what we want to know. Things might get... unpleasant for you, otherwise."

This is going to be the most cliched interrogation ever.

"Hm," I pretend to think about it. "No."

The man growls. His arm swings back, and suddenly I'm released from my bonds. I surge forward, catching him off balance, and use his arm to throw him to the floor. I'm on top of him in an instant, grabbing him by the sides of the head. I lift up, and I smash his head into the floor. The back of his skull impacts with a dull thud, and the man struggles, feebly. I lift again, smash his skull into the floor until the back of his head is a pulpy, bloody mess.

Well, I feel better.

I exit the room, closing the door behind me. No guards. I sense someone approaching, and I duck into a hallway running across a glass wall. Outside, I can see the city, sparkling in the night. This building is mostly office space, but that's a front for something larger. Hell, the ground floor is actually a mall, teeming with people during the day.

The footsteps are getting closer. The guard rounds the corner next to me. I duck behind him and lock an arm behind his back, and use his momentum to push him into the window. He grunts with the impact, and cracks spiderweb across the glass. Before he can pull himself together, I'm pulling him back, away from the window. With a blast of telekinetic energy, he goes flying. The window breaks, and the man goes tumbling out into the street, several stories below.

I run up a staircase, trying to avoid the patrolling guards. The longer I can hold off the alert, the more time my partner has to find -

The dream is destabilizing. My surroundings are a blur of light blue and white. I feel blinded, fully aware that I won't be able to see the guards before they find me. I'm trying to hold onto the dream, and I sense it. It's a shadow, human-shaped and in the room next to me. One of the guards - his aura is completely black, and I can feel him getting closer. He solidifies as a human shadow -

I strike out at him, hitting him in the temple. Before he has a chance to react, I have him in a full nelson, choking him. He's losing oxygen, starting to pass out.

He doesn't have to die, I could just knock him out. Maybe I should stop killing them. This is their job, they probably have families. No. I'm just too close, physically. I'm feeling his fear. A memory washes across the surface of his mind. He's on a job, on a team with three others. Capturing a girl. They rape her.

I freeze. I almost recoil, but the man's waking up, starting to struggle.

A snarl of rage is coming from me, and I throw him to the ground. I disable his vocal cords with a wave of my hand, and he's inching away, trying to scream for help. I weave a wordless spell in blue, lay it over him.

He's frozen for a moment, as he begins to lift up into the air, gravity losing its effect on him. I'm standing back now, as he starts to tug against invisible bonds. I summon another wave of energy.

Glass shatters into thousands of pieces, and this man, too, goes flying. He's falling up, though, up and up and up, screaming soundlessly, clearing the outcropping near the top of the skyscraper, falling into the sky.

Even if the spell fails before he hits the stratosphere, well. It's a long way down.

Killing in the open.

I'm surrounded. Six mooks in blue, four fighters in red, and the leader, a Djinn. Bald and muscular, covered in shifting blue tattoos, he's easily the most threatening presence in the room.

I wave my hand, sending a wave of kinetic energy at them. Four out of six mooks have their necks snapped, dead before they hit the ground. The remaining combatants have too strong of a will to be taken out of the game so easily.

I need a stronger spell. I call up blue-tinted soul energy, holding it in my right hand, and I rush one of the mooks and force it into his chest. I can feel his heartbeat, one, two, and the energy pulses, entwining with his soul and pulling it out of him.

I'm counting numbers in my head: 20, 24. The numbers seem arbitrary, but they help me keep track of the soul energy. If I hit zero, I'll be powerless.

The Djinn hits me from behind, and I can feel my numbers sink to 17. Snarling, I pull free of his grip and hit him with a pulse of the energy. He's flying backwards and I'm down to 16.

The red-shirts are in my way, and I down two, one with each hand. Their souls pulse out and back into their bodies, frying them. I absorb the excess. 27.

I'm ready this time. I block the Djinn, meeting his attack with a soul shield. The energy sparks dangerously with the impact, and we're both forced back, sliding several feet. 23.

Where are the other guys? The floor is conspicuously empty. Jim Gordon is standing on the sidelines, surrounded by the remaining mooks. They've got his gun.

Cursing, I put up an energy shield as I fry the mooks with soul energy. 7. "Run!" I shout at him, "Get the fuck out of here!"

He's hesitating. Why is he hesitating?

My shield is draining me. I'm blocking an attack by the Djinn. 4. "You have all the evidence we need to shut them down! You need to get out!"

Something in my tone convinces him. He's turning on his heel and running, and I'm turning around to face the Djinn.

"I can take care of things on this end," I say, and I let the shield drop.

Happy endings.

I'm walking through the building at the mall level, a skip in my step. It's daylight, and there are people around. A feeling of contentment is going through me, and I ignore the graves being built near the side entrances of the mall.

I'm a child, and I construct a mother DC out of nothing.

Something is coming to an end, some mystery was solved. It feels like closure.

Scare Factor: 4/10

On second thought, think I may have lost that fight. Djinn in the Supernatural universe "grant wishes" by trapping their victims in a dream world and sucking out their life energy. Happy ending? I don't think so.

I think this deserves another play-through.

(P.S. This has nothing to do with the anime of the same name.)
2. Kapeli

by , 09-26-2010 at 02:08 AM (Zukin's Dream Journal! <3)
I'm not going to be able to write how scary this dream was, just trust me - it was scary. I don't remember the first half, but I know that the first half of the dream contained me being chased by a demon girl.

I remember the second half better. There was a little boy, and a Demon Boy. They had been friends in their earlier childhood, but something had come between them. They were both about 12 now. The Demon Boy was showing his old friend how he could summon objects into his house. He made a pool with his mind, and urged the boy to swim with him. The Demon Boy asked the boy if there was anything he wanted, but the boy seemed uninterested. He seemed bored of the Demon Boy. When the boy turned around, it revealed that he had a long series of scrapes and scars on his back. Apparently, the Demon Boy had attacked the boy when he was younger, and that's why they were no longer friends.

The Demon Boy was becoming frustrated in his attempts to allure the child, and began to sneak up behind him to try to eat him once again.

My friends and I come bursting through the door to save the boy. We pick him up, and make a mad dash back to the car. I jump into the drivers seat but the car is stuck in park! What the heck!

I looked down to the gear shift. On it, the words "Kapeli" were engraved as if it were scratched in there. I telepathically knew that the word Kapeli meant, "Don't [go]" in the demon's language. We looked behind us, and like one of those cliche horror movie scenes, the perpetrator was standing right behind our car in a cloud of mist/fog in the dark. The girl next to me screamed. He was using telekinesis to prevent our car from moving.

Some quick backstory, for context.

Selina is a girl I knew in high school. She showed up once in a previous dream. The two of us never spent much time together, but we got along fine. From what I remember, Selina is a very nice person.

Jesse, I also went to high school with. We didn't get along, and though we're distantly related (small towns, eh?), we really don't share any of the same viewpoints. At all.

I met Zoe Killion a few years ago, at a fine arts-related event. We've been friends ever since. She has a younger sister, whose name is (not really) Ava.

This dream relates to Nomad's RPG. Vaguely.

09/18/10

The good of one, versus the good of many.

We are in a forest, surrounded by tall, black-barked trees. The edges of the clearing are choked with thick underbrush, and the lilac leaves and tall grasses tickle against the back of my t-shirt. The sky is streaked with the orange of the setting sun, which is hidden by the trees ahead of me.

The group is gathered in a large circle, sitting cross-legged on the ground and facing inwards. I look around the circle, cataloging each face. I know all of these people. All of them are my age, and they're from all over the world, these people I've met in waking life.

We've been stranded here, I realize.

"It'll be one of them," says Jesse, pointing at me and - Zoe, sitting to my left. "Look at you two! Your spots are right next to the forest! Anything could come by and grab you."

I'm lucid, not even feeling the need for a reality check. I frown. I can feel the dark, wolf-like presence lurking in the shadows behind me. Wordlessly, effortlessly, I call up a wall of mirrors on the other side of the clearing, confident that I'll be able to see the creature coming.

I recognize the mirrors as a part of Nomad's first task, and I decide to stay here to play out the rest of the game. I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror: short blond hair, black clothes... everything gets a little fuzzy.

Who cares about the many? I just don't want it to be -

"- anyone," says Zoe, a bit sharply. "All we've been told is that one of us is going to die."

"And if that happens," says Jesse, "Then the rest of us will be safe until tomorrow night!"

Half of the table stands up at these words, shouting at each other. They're leaning across the round, stone table, ready to escalate into violence.

The sunset is fading into darkness.

Selina is standing up, ready to play the mediator. To get everyone to calm down, and work together, and I see my opportunity.

I squeeze a hand into a fist under the table, and Selina collapses, dropping to the ground like a marrionette whose strings have been cut. Her internal organs have been liquefied, some of her bones have been ground into dust, and I'm pretending to panic along with the rest, pushing through the crowd as someone yells "WHAT HAPPENED!" and "Did you see?" and I'm pressing two fingers against her carotid artery, checking for a pulse that I know won't be there.

"She's dead." I say quietly, and the faces around me reflect both horror and relief.

The rules don't apply to monsters.

I twist open the back door on a blue van, crawling in the back to reach for a case. It's orange, and the outside is covered in foam. My fingers sink into it as I lock it, latch it, make sure nothing is going to open it by accident.

"Everyone's still trying to figure out what happened," says a voice from behind me.

I crawl out of the van, resting the case upright on the bumper.

"I mean, one second she was alive, you know?" says Ava, rubbing her left arm with her other hand. "Everyone thinks it was something supernatural, a new kind of monster from the forest."

"It probably was." I say.

"That's the briefcase." Ava nods at the orange case I'm holding. "The one that'll kill us if we go near it. So, it's safe now?" She makes a grab for it.

"Don't touch that!" I snap, hitting her hands away. Idiot, of course it will still kill you! It's just that nothing is going to attack you outright - at least for now.

I slam the door shut on the van, and walk away from the camp, still carrying the orange case so I can hand it over to my employer.

I'm on no side but my own.

"We're leaving!" says the Matron as she paces the inside of her ship, the flowing fabric of her dress trailing behind her. "Get the rest of the crew."

"And the survivors?" I ask.

The Matron growls. "I meant to capture all of them, but we're on a deadline."

I nod, and turn to leave.

"If you should happen across Miss Killion, of course," says the Matron coldly, "Bring her to me."

I pass Ava as I leave the ship. She has her arms crossed, and is guarding the gangplank. She winks at me, and I allow myself a small smile.

I'm certainly not on yours.

I hit the drunk crewman over the back of the head with a bottle. It shatters over him and he collapses to the ground, dead weight. His equally drunk friend, who was about to attack me, looks from the unconscious man to the razor-sharp bottle neck in my hand. The man stumbles away, apologizing, and promising to go back to the ship.

I sigh, and pick up the unconscious man, swinging him into a fireman's carry over my shoulders. I turn to Zoe and nod in the direction that the man just ran in. We start walking.

"So let me get this straight," says Zoe. "We're working with the bad guys. Who want to kill me."

"Because the Matron has the only transportation off the island."

"Who wants to kill me."

"She won't," I say, grinning.

You really should have seen this coming.

"You can't touch her." I say. I'm feeling gleeful, and I'm sure that I'm radiating an air of smugness that's setting the Matron on edge. Well, that and the fact that I stole away her first prize in manipulation.

"You can't do this." She hisses.

Except that I can. If I own Zoe's soul, the Matron can't touch her. I would be obliged, even within all of the complicated truces and agreements we have with one another, to pay back any harm threefold.

I don't actually own Zoe's soul. But the Matron's not about to question my integrity. She has too much to lose.

The Matron's sulking is so pronounced that I have to laugh. "I'm the devil!" I tell her, "Did you really think that I wasn't after anything for myself?"

4. Moving spaceship with telekinesis

by , 09-10-2010 at 03:13 PM (Nom nom nom, Mmmattelicious...)
NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Good morning! I only had two dreams last night which I could remember, and they weren't long enough to write down. Something about being in a shower in a cellar, and watching the boss's woman touching herself, and some other dream about going on a hike. And packing my bag full of survival supplies.

Here's the last real lucid dream I had, it happened a week ago.

We're orbiting around another planet in our spaceship, and we're about to go down and explore it. A team of four people is sent down, including me.

We end up in someone's backyard and our readings indicate that the oxygen level is perfect. We remove our masks and take a better look around. I see three small human-like creatures running around. Their eyes are glowing yellow and they're scared of us. I chase them down and make them relax. They're just children I see now and not so scary at all. "Which one of you has the most power?" I ask and realise I'm dreaming. A small girl raises her hand and I tell her to destroy a wooden fence. The whole thing blasts away and reveals a deserted landscape. Suddenly we notice something up in the sky, it's a huge, yellow/green spaceship.
Apparently it wasn't welcome here and the girl starts summoning large meteors from the sky. The ship retreats quickly and I decide to help. I try summoning both lightning and fire, but nothing work. Disappointed I watch the ship go further away. Then I figure I could pull it back with telekinesis! I stretch out my hand and make a grabbing motion in the air, and pull towards me. The ship stops in it's track, and is suddenly coming back! The meteors continue raining down and they finally hit the ship, which explodes.

The dream changes.
I'm sitting at a table by the pool in the same backyard, and drinking beer with my friends. "Hey Matteh, why don't you grab me a beer?" Eric asks and I take a look at our backpack, which is lying twenty meters away. "Why would I go and get one, when I can make it come to me?" I ask and make a beer fly towards me with telekinesis. It flies past me and is kinda hard to control, but I get the hang of it pretty quickly. I do this four times since some of those beers were actually water bottles.

The ship in the sky looked something like this, only HUGE and alot longer.

5. Three lucid dreams and my first false awakening!

by , 09-06-2010 at 02:17 PM (Nom nom nom, Mmmattelicious...)
I had these dreams a couple of weeks ago. This happened in the same night and was definitely one of the top three dreaming sessions I've ever had. I've had around 15 lucid dreams this year, but no false awakening. This time I got one!

NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID FALSE AWAKENING SLEEP PARALYSIS

LD1:I'm in a big house with some other people, the walls are covered with doors of glass and for some reason I'm in a fight. A girl enters the room and she attacks me instantly. I reach out with my hand towards her and makes it into a fist. As if by some invisible force, she almost gets crushed. Her eyes widen with shock and fear. I fling my hand to the side and she flies through the room with incredible speed. I pull her back infront of me and she slides in under a table. She gets smacked up and down all the way to the roof and back down again as I do an up- and down motion with my whole arm. I laugh evily at the ammount of power I finally have with telekinesis. Two other people comes rushing in the room and I make all three in the room face eachother in a tight bunch. I make a chain wrap itself around them all and I laugh some more as I watch them struggle in vain.

LD2:I'm on top of a large mountain with some guys. We're doing some kind of "Jackass" show and I light a ball of hay on fire and throw it at one guy. He panics and everybody laughs. Suddenly the fire spreads and I notice that the whole mountain is made out of hay. Within a few seconds the entire place is on fire and we run for our lives. I run through some woods and end up at my old house which I used to live in when I was a kid. There, next to a car, is my family. "Wait a second... This is a dream" I say to myself. I try to convince my family that this all is a dream and they don't have to fear the fire. They refuse to listen to me so I give up and walk away. I enter a plowed field and while standing there in the mud, I try to think of something to do. I can't really think of something as I remember how I had dominated with telekinesis in my last dream. I decide just to fly some and it feels awesome as usual.

LD3:I'm at a big lake with my dad and my youngest brother. I instantly know it's a dream and I convince my dad that it is. "Look, I can shoot pinecones" I say and pick one up. With it in my hand I hold it up towards the sky and it shoots up and out of sight. Ten seconds later it falls down just next to us. My dad wants to try it out and my brother too. They aren't as good as me at it but they do alright. I decide to take a swim in the big lake and as I dive off the cliff I can hear my brother yell something behind me. It sounds as if he doesn't want me to do it. I plunge into the water and it's as if I'm being propelled by an invisible force. I decide to try to fly out of it and makes a jump, just like a dolphin before on my second try, I am soaring through the air. A couple of seconds later I start to feel my body.

FA1:I wake up and I'm sure I've overslept. The neighbours are playing real loud music and I get pissed off. I wake up for real and realise I've had my very first "False Awakening"

This was the first time I could use telekinesis properly. And I've had two lucid dreams since then, in which both I could use it without any problems.

6. Dreaming in 2D - Forced Lesson on Dream Control

by , 09-02-2010 at 11:30 PM (Zukin's Dream Journal! <3)
I was lucid, and I was in a dungeon with four rooms. Each room was dark, and in 2D so everything looked very strange. There was no escape from the dungeon. In each room were some items, also in 2D.

The point of the dungeon was apparently to force me to learn dream control. I wasn't sure how I knew that, but I did. The first task was to learn to move objects with my mind. I struggled for a bit before I managed to smash the car into the table. I was able to move things with my mind now! I tried to put the car on top of the table, but the 2D view wouldn't allow that and it looked very odd.

The next task was to learn to use magic. That was easier. I used a yellow spell against an opponent.

I was alone in the dungeon after that, and 3D was trying to overcome the 2D view. In front of me was a TV. It was sort of creepy looking in the dark. It was an old analog TV. I flipped through the stations. Because a lot of the dream was in 2D much of the channels were showing cartoons from my childhood. I found a news station and tried to put my hand through the screen. I was teleported inside the TV and found myself INSIDE of a Spongebob cartoon!!!

Two characters that looked like this were jumping up and down in their living rooms cheering at the television. I was back in 2D land which was really annoying. Dreaming in a cartoon. I reached inside their television to try to get somewhere else but I think I just teleported back to the dungeon.
7. More Blood and Gore

8/13/10

1- Magical Prodigy
I am the daughter of Melinda Gordon from Ghost Whisperer. We are attending some sort of party where a crazy ghost/demon lady is killing off the guests. Whoever goes upstairs suffers her horrible wrath: they are thrown from the banister to a bloody death. My mother cannot stop her; I seem to be the only hope. For some reason I am immune to the demon's power, and I leap at her, clawing at her face. She seems horrified.

"What are you!?" she shrieks as I tear slices out of her skin.

In a bloodied frenzy, I ignore her question. "Die, b*tch!," I scream at her, "And this time stay in Hell where you belong!"

After she is dead, all the guests clap for me. I am more than slightly embarrassed...

On the way home, Melinda and I jokingly talk about the creepy naked ghost that used to follow her around. Our conversation is cut short, however, when we spy her mother and several strange ladies stealing herbs from our garden. Ugh, that's the third time this month!

My grandmother's friends run off when they see us approach, but before Melinda has a chance to say anything, the woman is drug off into the field behind our house by some unseen force. We give chase.

It doesn't take long for us to find her, but we quickly realize that she is now the demon lady from earlier in disguise. This time she is not so easily subdued.

Our battle carries over into some sort of warehouse, where my mother spots a bomb in the corner of the room. "Set up that bomb," she tells me, "and I'll hold of the demons."

"No way! YOU set the bomb, and I"LL hold them off." She begrudgingly agrees.

When I turn around, the demon and her cronies are all armed with chainsaws. Holy crap! For a split second, I fear that I may be in over my head, but bloodlust quickly takes control. I wrench a chainsaw out of the hands of the nearest woman and saw her in half. Blood splatters everywhere. Unphased, the demon lady comes at me. She proves to be more of a challenge, but once I disarm her (literally) she is as easy to kill as ever. She is in several pieces by the time I'm done with her.

After I slaughter the rest of the white-robed women, I get a little carried away and accidentally almost slice my brother Alex in half. (The same Alex from two of my other dreams. Poor guy...) I have also injured my pet shark somewhere along the line.

*time lapse*

I am now Phoebe from Charmed, trying to call for Leo. Why isn't he showing up!? I end up having to track him down myself... some White Lighter he is. "What is it?" he asked, seeming annoyed.

"I think we need to look this demon lady up in the Book of Shadows. I've already killed her twice, and she keeps coming back."

He gives me a you're-so-stupid look and walks off. What the hell is his problem today?

"Wait!" I yell, chasing after him. "Can you at leas heal my shark?" I hold out Pete, my pet shark, who is still bleeding profusely.

Leo rolls his eyes and waves his hand over the shark. "There, he's healed." He hurries off.

*time lapse*

I am now Melinda's daughter again, approaching the demon's greenhouse. She is accusing my other brother, Peter, of using telekinesis to ruin her roses. He looks terrified, and is obviously not the culprit. I wonder if I did that unintentionally? Concentrating, I try to lift a garden hoe with my mind. It flies up and hits my mother in the face. Oops!

I then use telekinesis on myself and sit in the rafters. (Rafters, in a greenhouse?) Alex, who is now a bloodied, severed foot, joins me. "Dude, maybe you should get Leo to heal you. It's sort of creepy with you just being a foot."

"No way," the foot says to me. "I like it like this!"
8. #129. Shapeshifting Children

by , 08-12-2010 at 02:48 AM (Things to Run Away From Really Fast)
08/11/10

I'm travelling through a village. Their level of technology seems medieval at best. A little girl is suspected of being a witch. I help her escape.

We wander up a path through an idyllic countryside, hilly and covered in green. I lead and the girl, ten or so, trails slightly behind me. The hinges of the wooden gate creak as they move, and I hold the gate open. The girl shrieks in delight and runs onto the field. A dark brown horse is running towards us. It has odd, light-coloured streaks painted across its side. As it approaches the girl, it slows down. The girl jumps up and down, asking if she can ride it.

"He doesn't like anyone, even me." I say, studying the horse. I smile when the horse snorts. "Especially me. I think he might like you, though."

The girl climbs on the horse's back, and the two of them gallop across the fenced enclosure.

Later, we're sitting inside a log cabin that resembles a barn. The black horse is now a black owl, perched on a railing. I sit across from him, and we watch the girl explore the building as we talk. She runs back over to us, smiling as she sits down on the couch.

"We're going to have to winter-proof the house if she's going to stay with you." I tell the owl seriously.

The girl turns into a bird. I catch the bundle of feathers between my hands, gently. "You are far too domesticated." I tell her.

I will the cracks in the wall to close, making the wood grow back together, sealing out the wind.

It's winter the next time I return to the cabin. We play on the hill, sliding down packed snow and laughing.

9. 8 Days, no Video Games

by , 08-03-2010 at 09:27 PM (Dreams of the Maeniac)
These dreams took place during a trip to norway with my family for 8 days. Turns out that 8 days with no video gaming affects my mind a bit. Another point to mention was that at the time, I was really looking forward to getting an Xbox 360 to get Grand Theft Auto IV and Skate, but mostly GTA IV. In fact, I was obsessed with the idea of the Euphoria engine, I would get extremely restless just thinking about the physics, I felt like I NEEDED to try it out.
And as an added spice, on a trip like this, being surrounded by family at all times, made it impossible to, err, relieve sexual tension - Which also, it turns out, affects my mind a bit.
I was 15 years old at the time.

Also, the following list of games appear in my dreams.
Team Fortress 2
Metal Gear Solid
Splinter Cell
Spyro
Crash Bandicoot
World of Warcraft
The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
(Madness Combat)

One last note is that this is actually an old thread that I posted on 07-19-2008, and I've only slightly edited it.

First Day!
Extremely interesting!
I had trouble sleeping, so I didn't remember a thing when I woke up. Intense!

Second Day! #5
So, I'm in Team Fortress 2, I'm a spy, I think I'm on the blue team. I remember backstabbing loads of people, and sapping alot of enemy machines. Then I get into a small dark room. There is a little corner in the end, and alot of windows leading out to darkness.
Now there are spies in all those windows, but not Team Fortress spies, these are the spies from Splinter Cell with 3 green glowing goggles. I can see a laser aim coming from their guns, and the only place I can be without them tazing me is in that little corner in the end.
In the end I backstab them all one by one, can't remember how.

At this point, I wake up, in the middle of the night. This is before I got the paper to me, and I didn't want to wake anybody up. So I began making up keywords, such as "Team Fortress 2, Splinter Cell, Spies" to remember it. I have no idea how much I lost.
Then I fell asleep again;

I'm in a laboratory, but only for a very short time, I head out of a door, and there is a road leading over to a small temple. Sort of Aztec-like temple.
Theres something about a jeep around the road here. In the temple there is a sliding, metallic door. I go in.
The temple is apperantly completely hollow, and it is dark in there, a big round light is brightening the middle of the room up. There is a white, old looking car in the middle, and a lady standing besides it.
I know that I have to go over to her, she wants to have an interview with me. But no, I am actually spying on her, and I fear that something bad may happen if I do. So I walk up some stairs to my right instead. It's a spiral staircase. I get into a bright room with a ventilation system.
I think I'm Solid Snake now, because I crawl under a table to get into the ventilation, so I can spy on the lady from the top, but a guy in white/grey camouflage with an AK-47 points at me.
I decide that I can't do anything, so I just load last saved game and head inside the main door again.
This time I take the interview, and I am partly successful, however, I think I was also supposed to get a ring or something from her.
I go back to the spiral staircase, but I head down. Down there, I see a fat guy walking across or towards me, he has a wobbly stomach. (I think much like the guy in Pirates of the Carribean 3)
I walk up again. I open a door and see a guard, he is a character from Oblivion. He wears an expensive green shirt and black pants.
NOTE: This combination of clothing is what I used for my character.
(Green Brocade Doublet and Black Wide Pants)
This guy was a human race though, while mine was a Khajiit (Cat/human race)
He also has a huge glowing sword, I think it is the Dawn/Duskfang. He is walking towards me.
I hide behind the door, I don't want to fight him.
However, he sees me again. I even see an in combat symbol.
I kill him, weak memory though.
Then I head to the top of the temple, on the roof. Now there are two temples, two identical temples with a bridge leading to the other.
Suddenly, I am using telekinesis to throw guards away. I remember that I had to put my hand up infront of me, and make it look like I was pinching their body to grab them, then I just had to point with my finger where I wanted them, and if I poked into the air, they would be thrown away.
I see three anime-like girls sliding around. They are standing in a row, sliding around like in games when the character's animation is missing.
One has green hair, and another has purple, I forgot what the last one looked like. I want to see who the purple-haired is, so I want to throw the others away.
I pick one up and throw her away. Damnit, I accidentaly threw the purple haired one away.
I load last saved again. Now I am standing at the bottom of a hill, and the temples are on the top, on the hill, theres a girrafe. I think, in the dream that this was probably one of those mods I downloaded which werent working right, because there werent supposed to be girrafes here.
It's also standing in a wierd way, like it isn't supposed to be standing on a hill because of it's animation. Only it's front legs touch the ground, the back legs are hovering because the ground is not flat beneath it.
So I pick it up and throw it away, it lands in a lake. I am impressed by the graphics when it suddenly made dynamic waves in the water. I pick it up again, and splash it around a bit, then I throw it away untill it's finally out of sight.
There are two girrafes, so I pick the other one up aswell and throw it out of sight.
Then I go up again to the top, I don't remember throwing the 2 girls away, but I remember meeting the purple haired one.
On the top, her hair is completely purple, and at the ends it gets pink. There is a slight bit of glitter in it. Her facial expression reminds me alot of Shinku from Rozen Maiden (Anime)

POINT OF INTEREST! :O
I looked up on An Online Guide To Dream Interpretation and looked up her hair color.
Keep in mind that I didn't even know that colors were symbols for anything in dreams before someone linked to Dreammoods, yet I thought, when I read it on that site, that both purple and pink were fitting to what I felt and how I felt about the girl.

Pink
Pink represents love, joy, sweetness, happiness, affection, kindness. Being in love or healing through love is also implied with this color.

Purple
Purple is indicative of devotion, healing abilities, loving, kindness, and compassion. It is also the color of royalty, high rank, and dignity.

Anyways, so I do something to her hair, it seems like I don't like how it looks, so I smash it up and makes it look all wild, almost punk-like. (I've no idea, I don't like that wild punk style, infact, I think the hair she had before was pretty :C)
Now I've even managed to take the hair off, and I'm painting it with paint, I mess up big time, since I end up painting the hole where the head fits, so now it's just a ball with a few small holes and hair. I've also managed to paint it so it looks partly like a football. She is sort of angry, and I'm embarrased.

Third Day!
I don't remember anything again.

Fourth Day! #6
So I'm in Team Fortress 2 again, everyone on red is playing Sniper, and I'm playing Spy again. The map is sort of like ctf_2fort but instead of one straight bridge leading over water to the other teams base, it's a bridge that goes to the left and ends in a little hut, and then a bridge going to the right, meeting up with another bridge heading straight to the other base. I'm at the end of it, and there are snipers standing everywhere on it. I backstab one in the hut, but I'm having trouble killing the one on the bridge. He is my nemesis, he keeps killing me, and I'm trying to get revenge. His name was exactly "CorrytE". (Likely to be Korrite from here, DreamViews because of that flaming that happened in the Beyond Dreaming section xD Strange, methinks. I didn't even join the arguing, I just read the threads.)
This is also an early dream, so it might have alot missing.

Fifth Day! #7
I'm watching Pirates of the Carribean, I see Jack Sparrow get up on the deck from the water.
In the dream, I had forgotten the ending.
Very unclear and weak memory

Sixth Day! #8
I've taken a train, however I find out it's heading the wrong way. It's heading somewhere called "Mayans". Infront of me theres a young boy. I am sitting in the right side. On the left side, and one seat back, a girl begins to sing This Broken Soul
I remember hearing the song very clearly.
I begin singing along without sound, but then she begins to tease me about not knowing the lyrics to the song, however, she calls the song something completely different.
Something I just noticed, it fits pretty well to the situation aswell :P (I've lost my way your voice is silent, I need you here, to remind me. Show me now, how to find my home)
Since I took the wrong train...

Suddenly, I am at a hangar, or well, something ship and industrial related. Me, my father and my littlebrother falls into the water. We attempt to crawl up a ladder, my littlebrother falls in again, and my father rescues him. We head into a dark room with a train in the middle.
I crawl up on the train, there is some plastic bags with bullets in. Suddenly, Madness Combat people come rushing out of the doors. I shoot them with the gun, but there are too many of them. One of them has a katana and is running around to train to get me. The sheriff is there aswell.
I jump down, now the katana guy is heading directly towards me. I am out of bullets. I run around the train, hit a few people, run abit and then there is the Sheriff, he has a sumbrero on and he has a katana too. I take it from him and cut a few people up.
I don't remember if I kill the sheriff or not.

Seventh Day! #9
I'm playing World of Warcraft now, I make an Alliance Rogue, because I've gotten the new expansion pack, Wrath of the Lich King. In my dream, after you have hit level 70 with one character, you can create a level 70 character of the same class as many time as you like, so that's what I did.
(In reality, after you beat a quest after level 70, you are able to make a level ~55 Death Knight, that's probably what I confused things with)EDIT:(<- Actually, no, this comment shows that I had the dream before Wrath of the Lich King came out, as I was also grossly mistaken out of dream. Now, however, I know that you can make a Death Knight at any time you want, but you have to sacrifice your old character, and the Death Knight will be at the same level as the old character... <.<...)
The graphics are extremely improved. There are nice shadows and lightening. I get a free flying mount to get around the city. It's a dark city, and there are Blood Elf guards all over, even though I am alliance. There are also alot of Blood Elf flags. I can't find my way around, so I delete that character again. I make an Undead Rogue instead. He has white hair hanging down infront of one eye. His face, nose and below is hidden by a piece of cloth, it is transperant and has a very bright red color. There are two long pieces of cloth hanging down behind, they are ragdoll when you run.
He has Gladiator Set 1 (Dark green) On his back there is a big orange-glowing spear. He has another big orange-glowing spear in his hands. I'm impressed that he can hold a 2hand weapon!

Now I'm in Spyro, in a very bright level with a cream/red/white color theme, I think it's in the sky, since there are clouds below the map. Theres a huge table (I know, what the hell) looking at me, the sides are made of glass and there are animals inside it. I destroy it, now the animals are just standing in a net.

Now I'm in Splinter Cell, I'm with someone else, there are two towers close to the Mercenaries base, with data we need to hack ontop. He begins to hack before I do, and then I begin, he's pretty close to getting done while I'm only halfway. I look at the map, the mercenaries have respawned.
I hope they go to my mate so we can both hack. They do. He gets done hacking before they reach him, and now they are too far away to get to me. Then we go down and fight them.
Theres one of them who has alot of armor and a mask on. We think it is Metal Gear armor he has on. And we decide that the next 10 bosses are going to have similar masks aswell. I remember the wierd sound that flying mask from Crash Bandicoot used to say when you got invincibilty gold mask thing. Hoogabookaba!

Eighth Day! #10
The day we are going home
Alot of details slipped out of this one. This one made no sense at all to me, it seems like my brain decided to make up a huge adventure story.

Anyways, there's a masculine Trailer-to-a-movie-like voice saying something, while I see a little boy getting ready to get on a bus. He looks sad, the weather is grey and rainy. The bus runs over the boy, but the boy ends up in a hollow space underneath the bus. No sense at all. Voice says something like 'everything was normal and sad, every day – untill something happened'
The view pans around a statue of two tall but fat buildings with a long bridge between them.
It looks like there's an explosion under it, making it deform, the bridge almost snaps, and the buildings move away from each other. Ther's a large crack in the ground under the statue.
There are lots of people around it.
Now we're in a mans home. There's a lady from another world, she's sort of fairy-like, or maybe angel-like. There's something about doors. I can't remember what it is, but it's something only she can do, with doors, and it limits her somehow.
I think the man is the boy from the beginning.
Now the man is in a dark building, fighting some shadow.
He his drawing power from his successful company's energy source. He is the leader of some energy producing company, and the company owns a huge energy producing tower. He uses the energy to beat the shadow.
Now doors have been locked to the lady, she is angry that she has many restrictions, she thinks she's being used.
Something now happens that deletes all worlds, sending the lady to the first world ever created, it's also apperantly a backup world. It's pitch black. There's a tree with a face with a slight blue glow around it. Some glowing rocks are floating around the tree. It starts to talk "Let me introduce you to the worlds first and most vulnerable thing; Portals!" a blue portal is formed in front of the tree.

That was it, that's a whole crazy lot of Video Game related dreams.
Even though I said I am video game 'addicted' I don't think it's as bad as it could be, infact I don't even think it's enough to be called 'bad'. Which is why I find it interesting that it has a so big influence on my dreams when I go without them...
And keep in mind, I was 15 at the time. I don't even play these games any more. All I play now is Touhou and WoW.

Best Picks of The Lot (DILD)

NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Dream: Tearing it Down
★★★☆☆
There has been a recent strand of some kind of white powdery substance circulating the streets. People who take it are usually never heard from again. As it turns out, this stuff makes anyone into a demi-vampire whose uncontrollable transformation turns the unfortunate soul into a young girl (age ranging from the late teens to early twenties).

After unwillingly becoming one of these beings, I partake in some shenanigans whilst transformed, seducing an 'important' person in my old church, only revealing my true intent once I had gotten him into his car. He ran screaming, to my delight.

Afterwards, I'm conscripted by two true vampires and a small band of demis who reveal to me, along a tropical stone beach, the source of the white powder. Lining the ocean-side, as far as the eye can see, are oil-rig-like structures pounding the ground into a fine, magic dust and releasing pillars of smoky pollutants into the atmosphere.

We destroy everything, sparing no one.

Lucid Dream: Taking a Bite Out of Crime
★★★☆☆
Ridiculous people are being ridiculous.

Their ridiculousity triggers my lucidity, but everything is super hazy. I stabilize by grabbing something extra weird and purpley and then chomping down on it with mine mouth teeths. The rush of sensations is enough to pull me into the dream, and solidify my control.

I'm outside on a town street. Various shops and other places of interest frame the sidewalk. Some cars pass by on the intersecting street up ahead, but the few cars on this street, including one puke-green PT Cruiser, are parked in a parallel fashion.

Naiya shows up out of nowhere and we immediately stop a criminal using basic dream powers like TK, or something. After that, we hang out for a bit before I let myself wake up.

Really wish I could remember more of this one. =/

Fragments: Do You Remember That One Time At Band Camp?
★☆☆☆☆
Several fragments of me seeing Naiya in what I believed to be RL, and asking her about the dream from before, go here.

Dream: Into the Stratos!
★★★★☆
I have the pleasure of being pre-Shippuden Naruto and joining all the needless drama going on with Sakura. She gets upset and runs off, just before some bad dude comes and stops the squad from leaving. Sosuke tries to leave by fighting his way out, but gets put in his place quite handily.

Switching perspectives, I'm now myself, hanging out in tall grass for gods know what reason. But no matter, it's time. . .

Teleporting to the meeting location, I find Sakura standing there, wiping her face. I ask if she's ready to go; she nods. Taking her arm, I teleport to the next target. The kid--he couldn't be older than ten--sees me and waves. I motion to him and we all begin to run toward the ship. By now, they'd be looking for us.

Time was short, so I decided we needed to move faster. And what's faster than teleportation? Pulling the three of us together, I instantly transport everyone to my space cruiser. We get inside, I take the controls, and we take off.

Unfortunately, I have a lot of trouble getting the damn thing out of the atmosphere. I waste a lot of fuel, and burn out most of the ships engines, before switching to auto-pilot. At that point, I have to actually fuel the ship with my lifeforce in order to keep us all from plummeting to our deaths.

Now well on our way, but with me on the verge of death, Sakura is kind enough to transfer some of her life energy in order to keep me alive. But not until I ask nicely.

Dream: Adventure Time!
★★☆☆☆
Flying over Africa, I can't wait to explore the vast and exotic stretches of water below me. There were small basins, large bayous, medium sized lakes. So many environments to adventure through!

And adventure I did.

Dream: Beached
★☆☆☆☆
Hanging out in front of the beach-front property me and my friends were planning to stay at, I wait for them to show up. . .

Still waiting. . . . .

Maybe I should read this sign again?

11. #84. Character Creation

by , 06-21-2010 at 06:01 AM (Things to Run Away From Really Fast)
A wizard violates the laws of nature when he creates human beings from scratch. And then there are zombies.

There's a shabby old farmhouse on the plain, over the crest of the hill. No roads lead to it, because in this time, there are no roads. If there's a hint of civilization in this place, it's what's been carved out of the land by its few inhabitants.

I knock on the door.

The door swings open and a middle-aged man with longish black hair answers it, the corners of his eyes crinkling with a smile when he realizes who I am.

"Amon." I say, "It's been a while."

He leads me inside, beaming. The inside of the house is bright and warm and filled with people. I notice the eight people in the room, most of whom are cooking and doing various odd jobs around the house. Amon is rushing away to go help with something.

I take an empty seat beside a kid who looks to be in his mid-20s. "I'm Eli," he says, "and the scary-looking guy across from me is Mark."

Mark glares menacingly from across the table.

"So, Eli," I say, "How did you come to be here?"

"Could ask you the same question." Mark interrupts.

Eli continues like he hasn't heard him. "I was a civilian consultant for the military back home. It's a long story, but the same thing that pulled all of us back here somehow pulled me in. So really, I'm from the future," he says happily.

Neat cover story.

"So, when were you from?" asks Eli.

"I need to talk to Amon." I say dismissively, and kick my chair back.

Mark stands up too, his pose threatening. "I don't know who you are," he says, "but you're not one of us. If you try to hurt any of these people, I will kill you."

I turn back to him, considering. "Duly noted."

I catch up to Amon outside. He's leaning against the wood siding of the house, staring up into the sky.

"So," I say, leaning against the wall beside him, "They're self-aware."

Amon pulls away from the wall a bit, turning to face me. "They are." He confirms. His smile becomes wistful. "Aren't they beautiful?"

"Your own perfect little creations." I say, frowning. "You know, there's a reason the creation of human life is considered a forbidden art."

"Those laws don't apply here," says Amon. "And of all people, I thought you would understand why those rules are arbitrary."

"I care little for conventional morality, Amon," I say, warning in my tone, "But this is dangerous. As my student -"

"You taught me to choose my own path," says Amon. He gestures at the door. "This is what I've chosen. These are real people, ---." He lowers his voice. "I won't abandon them."

I can't stop a smile from creeping onto my face.

One of his creations comes outside to tell us that dinner is ready. The man is smiling and holding a bowl of potatoes and a wooden spoon. I try to ignore it, but I can't help but notice that his hands are shaking.

---

Over dinner, I keep an eye on the man with the potatoes. His name is Darryl, and he's a carpenter from the 1950s. At least, he thinks he is. In reality, he's a construct whose artificial soul is straining at the bonds keeping it in place. I'm surprised the others have lasted so long.

Eli keeps trying to draw me into the conversation, but I keep one eye on Darryl throughout the meal. He's getting progressively more pale and shaky, I notice, as Eli introduces me to a pretty woman in a dress, called Solara. She's either from an alternate, apocalyptic future or a rich family in the 19th century. I'm not paying much attention.

Because Darryl is stumbling, backing away from the table into the wall, and as he collapses, a wave of energy pulses outward, knocking over every construct at the table.

I calmly set down my fork, then stand up and walk over to Amon. "I hate to say I told you so," I tell him, "but it's time to go."

"No!" says Amon, knocking my hand away. He staggers back to the other end of the room, looking over the scene with horror. "I have to help them."

"Amon." I say, approaching like I would a wounded animal. "There's nothing you can do. We need to leave before you're affected, too."

"Yes." he says, eyes wild. "Yes, yes, I can't help them," He looks straight at me. "But you can. You can fix them."

"No." I say flatly. "This is a bad idea."

He's already started the process before I can protest further, pulling soul energy from a well deep inside him, gathering it up.

I can't stop him.

"Take care of them, ---," he says, struggling to hold together the colourless swirling energy he's holding in his hands. "Please."

The soul energy hits me at the same time I feel Amon vanish from existence, gone as if he'd never been there. The energy is a rush, but I control it effortlessly, and spin around to confront the automatons that are his legacy.

The thing that was Darryl comes charging at me, and I telekinetically smash it into the wall next to me. Its feet are dangling in the air as I examine it. Gari d'amon ex hadris, I chant in nonsense Latin. I let the body fall, boneless and broken to the floor.

Mark is still half-standing, leaning against a chair for support. He's been watching with the glazed look of a man in horrible pain, but he's still somewhat alert.

I approach him in much the same way I did the zombie, cautious. I nudge him back toward the wall with a tendril of energy, but I don't lift him from the ground or slam him into the wall.

"This is going to hurt," I warn him.

Mark nods and lets his head fall back against the wall, eyes closed. So assured, I grip Mark's artificial soul, pulling it into a ball from his chest. I twist my wrist, watching his hands clench into fists, and let trickles of the soul-energy I absorbed from Amon sweep into the artificial soul, strenghthening it.

I don't have time for anything more elaborate. I push Mark's soul back into his body, forcing it to slice through his veins in one swift motion, sticking it there. If he could get any breath into his lungs, he would be screaming.

I leave Mark on the floor, stepping over him to the other bodies. This just might work.

In the end, I only manage to save five of them, Eli and Solara among them. The other two, I simply put down, severing their nervous systems and absorbing the very last of their energies. The once cozy farmhouse feels oppressive, haunted by the wild energy that echoes throughout. We need to leave.
"You have water?" I ask a woman, whose name I don't know. She nods silently, looking back over the farmhouse.

"Well?" says Solara, gathering up her skirts and hiking out into the desert, the opposite way I came from. "Let's get going then."

Amused, I follow after her, followed, in turn, by the rest of the group. Mark stays close behind me, though I doubt it's to watch my back. More likely, he just wants to keep an eye on me.

Eli jogs to catch up, panting as he keeps pace with me. "So, what happened back there, exactly?"

"Amon was a necromancer," I say. "He wanted to create life, so he came here. He created you." I keep my eyes on the horizon. "He couldn't sustain himself along with all of you, so he sacrificed the rest of his soul to keep you alive."

Eli blinks. "Okay, that's completely unbelievable."

I look back at him and say without inflection, "The wormhole that brought you back in time dosed you with massive amounts of radiation that was going to turn you into zombies."

"Thank you," says Eli. "Why didn't you just say that the first time?"

Eli tries to catch up to Solara. I turn back to Mark and shrug. What can you do?

I could swear I almost see Mark crack a smile.

---

The next hill brings us the view of a tall, white-panelled manor not too far off. I wonder what could have made it; we're supposed to be in a universe devoid of all sentient life, after all. The rest of the party is just relieved to see a trace of civilization, so I suppose that it's worth the risk.

We trek up the gravel road (another oddity) to the house that shouldn't be there. Eli and Solara are running inside before Mark and I have a chance to check it out - which Mark isn't happy about. We meet them inside. Solara is twirling in circles over the hardwood floor, a smile on her face as she admires the high ceilings.

I'm trying to examine my surroundings on a deeper level, but something is blocking my senses. This place might seem like heaven to Solara, but something is very wrong.

Mark's dividing us into teams. He wants Eli and Solara to stick together on the main floor, watching for any signs of life (anything to keep those two out of trouble). He sends the two nameless constructs - people - off to explore the rest of the main floor while the two of us head upstairs.

"If I didn't know better, I'd say you didn't trust me with the others." I say in a low voice, out of earshot from the rest of the group.

"I don't!" says Mark, turning around to face me on the stairs. I calculate a four foot height advantage. "You show up and suddenly, four of us are dead! What the hell do you expect?"

"If I hadn't shown up when I did, all of you would have been dead." I say, meeting his angry gaze.

"Do you remember what I told you, earlier?"

I tilt my head, walk up the last few steps until I'm standing far too close. "You said you'd kill me." I smile, and Mark takes a step back. "Would you like to try?"

We hear a scream from the main floor. Mark is rushing down the stairs toward the sound, shouting "Solara", and I follow behind at a more modest pace.

Solara has collapsed on the floor. Eli is backed up against the counter, faced by a wraith-like creature with rotting skin. Eerie green light seems to flow from its features, making the sunlight streaming in the windows seem colder somehow. Its flowing white dress seems to flutter in a non-existant breeze.

Revenant, my mind supplies me with, as it turns to face Mark. Controls illusions, typically feeds on travellers. It hasn't noticed me yet.

"Do you like my home?" the revenant asks Mark. He starts forward, but it reforms into the shape of a Chinese woman with long dark hair and modern clothing. It's someone he seems to recognize, and he freezes on the spot.

The revenant approaches him, raising one hand to his face -

I attack with a right hook to her jaw. I spin and lash out with a kick. I've left myself open. The revenent strikes with her claws, tearing my throat out. I laugh, the liquid splashing my clothes, and continue to strike at her.

Hang on, that's not fair.

What isn't? It's right on my character sheet; I'm immortal.

You should at least need some time to recuperate.

Nope.

Oh, come on, you get banished to the basement...

I take a moment to adjust to my new surroundings, dark and damp and distinctly underground. I'm in the cellar. I curse revenants in general to hell and back, but I'm not too terribly concerned with the constructs, either. Mark should be able to handle himself for a little while.

I take stock of the food in the basement, a lot of cereal and a working freezer - hey, Neapolitan ice cream. The others will be happy about that. The overhead light starts to flicker and I sigh. I see movement in the corner of the room, feel hairs raising on the back of my neck.

I spin around and catch the revenant by the throat. She's flickering back and forth between her wraith image and her human one, and I force her to the ground, crushing her windpipe. She claws uselessly at my arms, but it's too late, I've got too good of a grip on her. Unfortunately, revenants don't need to breathe, either.

There's a short flight of steps leading back to the kitchen, and I drag her up by the throat, letting her white dress drag over the dusty steps. I step into the kitchen, where the five survivors are standing around in a circle, trying to figure out what to do next.

Mark looks up first. "We thought you were dead." He accuses.

"I don't die." I say.

I throw the revenant onto the floor, where she scrambles back along the tile, surrounded by six very non-human travellers. "Now," I say, tilting my head to the side and smiling down at her, "How do we go about killing you?"

Character Creation. Scare Factor: 3.

There, I'm done. Finally.

Kill them! Kill them all! BWAHAHAHA! Ooh, pretty flowers.

My partner and I are divvying up guns and ammunition from a trunk he brought with him. The pistols are old-style revolvers that take forever to load, so I grab two, stuffing one each down the front and back of my jeans. Which is probably a bad idea, but hey, we're in a hurry.

Our team is comprised of settlers - space explorers even. I think we've decided that we want the planet, and we're going to kill all the people in the compound ten feet away. I don't know; I haven't been paying much attention. I just want to fight.

Vicki hangs a flare gun over one of my shoulders, and I'm smoking a cigarette, for some reason. There's a fuse on the end of the flare, and I accidentally light it with my cigarette, which is now a lit match. Hurriedly, I aim over the wall of the compound and fire, starting off the battle.

A man inside the compound aims some kind of explosive firework at the rest of the team, but I'm not concerned, since I'm not part of the big group standing together like bowling pins. Morons. Things explode, and we rush the compound.

I'm behind the rest of my team, so I don't get to shoot many people. I'm a little nervous about it actually. By the time we've cleared most of the place out, most of my team members are down.

We're only shooting the people with guns, which happens to be the men, mostly. Men and women and children are all standing together, and if you would take cover, I wouldn't be shooting you! I'm holding dual pistols, sending twin shots into the chest of a man that just. won't. die. Never mind, he's down.

I get a message over the radio, saying that some kind of failsafe has been activated. Plant life is withering around the ship, and it's going to kill us, too. The ship is about to evacuate the planet, and I have to run if I don't want to be left behind.

I take off down a grassy path, trying to run as fast as I can. Quickly, I realize that I can pull in more speed, and my surroundings simultaneously blur and come into sharper focus. I was just talking about running really fast in dreams, with Puffin, and it really is the best feeling - wait a minute.

I'm lucid. I stop and look around, urgency of the Run Away task starting to dissipate. I look around at my surroundings, which are very green and very floral. It's beautiful, really.

I wander back to the landing site just because I can. The plants are dead all around the ship, and nothing's left but mud. Most of the crew are off to the side, away from the ship and avoiding whatever deadly contagion plagues the soil.

I walk right through, calling up plant life as I go. I want to talk to one of the DCs,
but I'm being pulled back into the dream plot.

Suddenly, we're all peaceful and getting along with the inhabitants of the planet. I'm talking to Johanna, who's playing one of these people. I'm given a tour of the compound, and I make ivy spring up along the walls, which starts flowering immediately. It should start growing fruit within a few days (you know, since we destroyed their supplies and all).

***

Wandering around an RV, which seems to fit an entire house in it. Linkara's giving me a tour, and I'm still making flowering ivy grow along the walls. I wonder what it's feeding on.

***

My brother is driving the same car we crashed into the harbour last night. We're driving along a road that's made entirely of ice, and he's going way too fast. We're driving into an underground castle-like structure where his music lessons take place. There's a steep downward slope, and PEDESTRIANS! LOOK OUT! SLOW DOWN! And a sharp turn right after a quick ramp THAT SENDS US FLYING into the air and we're going to crash and I telekinetically shove the car back onto the road.

We come to a stop.

"Okay," says Ben, catching his breath. "Maybe I'll go a little slower next time."

Okay, guys. I'm done spamming the Recent Entries section, I promise.

Also, romance with a fictional character? Very lame. Thankfully, this can only end badly.
What greater weapon is there than to turn an enemy to your cause—to use their own knowledge against them?

I'm browsing through the sale aisle at Bootlegger when I feel the temperature drop. Slowly, I place the t-shirt I was holding back on the rack, and reach out with my senses, feeling at the presence that appeared directly behind me. I can feel a stare burning into the back of my head, and I turn around, keeping my hands visible and obviously empty.

Standing there is a dark-haired man in a trench coat, staring at me without blinking. Aside from the creepiness factor, he doesn't appear to be a threat, but I can see beyond the physical. Cold light bleeds from his form, barely contained within his vessel, and I check my initial impulse to attack.

"Is there something I can help you with?" I ask, gesturing with my hands.

His expression doesn't change, though I notice a slight twitch of annoyance. "My name is Castiel. I'm an angel of the Lord." He says this tiredly, as if it's something he's had to recite a lot lately.

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I've heard those words before. I'm still caught up in the feeling of deja vu when he says, "Luc, heaven has work for you."

The words jolt me back into the present. "Wait, what?" I say. "My name's ---."

"Of course it is." says Castiel.

I calculate my chances of being able to control the holy fire I'm about to summon. Blue flames start to dance across my fingertips and my claws lengthen in response to my irritation.

A ball of pure kinetic force slams into my side, sending me flying through the glass store-window. I pick myself up from the ground and spin to face my attacker, a man I barely get a glance at before I'm dodging another kinetic missile.

The force slams through the back wall of the shop, sending people screaming for cover. I roll into a crouching position and pull all the glass around me into the air. I throw the broken glass and the shards fly like bullets toward the attacker. Before they've even hit, I'm sending a wave of holy fire at him.

The incompatible energy burns ice-cold, sucking the heat from my bones. I collapse, shaking, fighting for breath. I manage to raise my head to look at the wall of fire that's burning on its own, and decide that it'll probably hold off the angels long enough for me to escape.

A hand grips the back of my shirt and hauls me to my feet. I look up at Castiel and groan.

"Bit of a trigger-happy bodyguard?" I complain, leaning on the angel for support. "Was that Lucifer? It looked like Lucifer." I mutter.

Castiel actually rolls his eyes. "We should depart. It would be best to avoid him for now."

"Oh no." I say, stepping back from Castiel on still-wobbly legs. "I can't take any more of your light-based heavenly magics right now. I say we walk."

Castiel just looks around our flaming surroundings. The building will probably fall down on us any second now.

"Fine." I say, closing my eyes and bracing for more hypothermia. I feel Castiel touch my shoulder, and a sudden lurch, and I open my eyes. We're standing in a three-car garage; concrete floors, white walls. The weirdest thing? I feel completely fine.

"Guess I've found an angel I'm not allergic to." I say, "Where are we?"

"Heaven."

"What?"

Castiel doesn't have time to answer. Flames are appearing from nowhere, licking up through the concrete floor and burning it away. The flames explode outward in a spiral and I shield as best as I can, but I can feel them lick at me, burning cold.

I'm running toward the door to the house, stepping onto the tile floor and slamming the door shut behind me. There's an inch of space left, and the door won't stay shut.

Last time, it actually closed the whole way, a little voice reminds me, but Lucifer is on the other side of the door, twisting the doorknob and I pull against the door, holding it shut from the inside. Lucifer is pounding on the door, causing it to rattle in its frame. I'm worried he might actually knock it down.

Of course, the fact that he hasn't is a little insulting.

"You know, I am way better at being you." I mutter.

I look around for something to brace the door with. The garage opens directly into the kitchen. Metatron is walking through on the far side, behind the island.

"Hey, Metatron! A little help here?" I say hopefully, still holding the door shut. It shudders against the onslaught.

Metatron looks down his nose at me. "Honestly, Luc, the lot of you are acting like children," he sneers, and continues on his way.

"My name is ---!" I shout at his retreating back.

The feeling of ice water is creeping back into my veins. I shiver and lean against the doorframe for support, gripping the doorknob with my right hand. I hear shouting from the other side of the door and the noise is lessening. Lucifer's not trying to get in.

When Castiel appears beside me, the room seems to get a little warmer. I'm clutching at the lapels of his trench coat before I even realize what I'm doing. The cold is fading away, though, and I decide that it's worth the awkwardness.

"Is he gonna back off?" I grumble into Castiel's shoulder.

Castiel tentatively places his arms around me. "Raphael understands that we need your help. So long as you don't burn down any more buildings, I think you'll be fine." He pauses, considering. "If he finds out that you mistook him for Lucifer, though, he might try to kill you again."

"Raphael." I blink, pulling away. "That makes more sense."

"I also recommend that you remain close to me," Castiel says, "Heaven's defenses seem to have an adverse affect on you as you are now."

I shiver. "Fair point. Now what the hell is it you want me to do?"

---

It turns out, the bright blue energy I've been playing with for the last few weeks has been wreaking havoc on Heaven's delicate ecosystem. For some strange, probably sinister reason, I'm the only one who can fix it.

Part of the living room has been torn away to reveal a crack in the dream-fabric. Blue electricity is spitting from the black chasm, and the angels in the room shy away from it every time it crackles. Castiel and I walk into the room without much fanfare, though the two angels hurry out as soon as we get there.

"Is there something I'm missing?" I wonder aloud.

"You need to absorb the Lux. We'll be able to repair the tears," says Castiel, pointedly not answering my question.

"So there is something I'm missing." I say, turning around to look at Castiel. "What happens to me if I do this?"

Castiel's face is deliberately expressionless. "You'll be able to withstand our defenses on your own for a time. Once we've repaired the tear, I'll return you to Earth and the Lux will fade away on its own."

I turn back to the tear, staring into the terrifying void, alive with crackling blue. It's breathtaking, in a way.

"---," he says, catching my elbow. I look back at him. "Please do this."

I smile and say, "I never could say no to you, Cas." It feels like I've said the words before.

Castiel pulls back like he's been burned, and I turn to the void, holding out a hand and bracing myself. I focus on the blue energy and pull -

It's like crashing headfirst into a star. The whole world is alive - burning - and I can see. I can see everything. I can see blue, blue, bright, light blue, and it's trailing after every living thing in the universe. I don't know. I don't know what it is, but it's not light, not like Heaven, not like the power Readers have. It's deeper, more primal, and it wants nothing more than to be free -

My world explodes with blue light, and my bits and pieces of awareness are interrupted by the intense humming of the Lux in my veins. I'm vaguely aware of strong arms pulling me away from the hungry black tears in the dream-fabric, of clutching at the rough fabric of a coat, trying to hold on to something tangible, before I'm torn away from him and left to calm down.

The next thing I know, I'm in the kitchen. I'm sitting on a stool at the island, propping my elbows up on the granite countertop, resting my chin on my hands. Most of my attention is on the movie being projected on the wall across the room. I have a vague recollection of choosing Dogma just to be obstinate.

Castiel walks in from the living room, looking neither more or less rumpled than he usually does.

"How'd it go?" I ask.

"We were successful, thanks to you," he says. "How are you feeling?"

"Fine." I say, "Better than fine." I can still feel the Lux thrumming through my veins, offering me power beyond my wildest dreams.

As much as I might like Cas, he doesn't need to know that.

"We've done this before, haven't we?" I ask quietly.

Castiel looks away, and I catch his hand in mine. He meets my gaze, looking sad.

I let go of the breath I was holding. "Wish I could remember."

Our hands are still threaded together, and he squeezes my hand, says, "Let me take you home."

And we're standing at the center of an empty city square, bathed in orange under the afternoon sun. The cobblestones are warm beneath my feet, and the air is dry and still. Castiel and I are holding hands, and when I look up at him, my breath catches in my throat.

"We'll just do the same thing, Cas, over and over again. You know that."

"It has to be this way."

"It doesn't." I insist, but Castiel is already letting go of my hands.

"I'm sorry, ---." He raises two fingers to my forehead, preparing to erase my memories.

My force push sends him flying through a brick wall. Dust and mortar fly everywhere and the angel collapses in a heap. The rest of the wall falls in on him.

I'm standing with my palms outstretched, panting. I let my hands fall to my sides, and watch silver-white light leak from the pile of stones. I don't have much time.

I flee the square, running over the cobblestones and heading toward the cliff overlooking the rest of the city. I don't slow down; I leap from the cliff and focus on the rooftops hurtling toward me.

As I land, I blanket this section of the city with my black and red aura, sending my awareness out in all directions until only the blue-white energy is left. I can feel the pull to a place only I can find, and I close my eyes and let myself drift toward Lux.

I'm in water, dog-paddling, and it's dark. Someone lifts up the lid, and I shrink back from the light. He doesn't see me, but he puts down the blade of the propeller inches from my head, and I curse. I swim around the boat and climb on, quickly dispatching the three guards with strikes to their temples. I go about tying them up with the single length of rope I have, using slip-knots. I look for my allies in the other boats.

Something goes wrong, and I'm captured. I'm tied up, but slip free of the rope almost immediately. They take me to their leader, who looks suspiciously similar to me.

I'm with a class of young people, led by a teacher who might be from a university or college. We're shovelling rocks over the cracks in a hollow, rocky hill. The hill is shuddering as the monsters inside ram themselves against the rock, trying to break through and kill us all. We avoid these spots, trying not to antagonize them as we bury them alive. There have been attacks lately; we're trying to strengthen our defenses.

We finish that edge and go around the corner. The wall is missing. Our group freezes, coming face to face with dozens of the creatures.

They look like penguins. Misshapen, evil penguins with claws and teeth, but still. They're kind of comical, but they're still trying to eat us.

Most of the group takes off at a sprint. I hang back, along with one other student, for the first charge. Two of the little monsters come straight at me. I swing the shovel at one, knocking it away. I pull my weapon back, swing it through the second one until the shovel hits sand, impaling the penguin on the blade edge.

We've given the others some time to escape, and we take off before the rest can charge. I run fast, catching up to the others and greying my vision at the edges, when it finally clicks. I'm being chased by mutant penguins. I turn around, blasting our pursuers with telekinetic energy, scattering them into the lake/ocean behind their hills.

I've still got to find Walms, but I'm not trusting my abilities with portals lately, so I try to find one that's already active. I walk right past what might be a stargate, and look out through the windows built into the walls of the hill building I'm in.

When I look back, I see Marge Cartwright and her youngest daughter, sitting in chairs that have appeared around the room. Cartwright's eldest was in my graduating class. I say something to the effect of "Another Other Mother?" and claw my way out through the plastic-covered window.

I try to imagine a great fall out of the window, so I can get into another setting, maybe a skyscraper, but I fall four feet into the sand and land hard. I can feel the impact. Ow.
I keep exploring the dream-setting.

I escape from a prison using a tazer and a group of accomplices, pick a car in the parking lot and drive it through an iron fence, and have to drive it away with an invisible hand because it won't take much more damage. While we wait for the car to get repaired, I explore an underground fairy hutch and almost get trapped inside.

15. #61. Zombieland

by , 06-14-2010 at 07:25 AM (Things to Run Away From Really Fast)
My team saves a little girl's life while we steal something from her father.

I'm cycling away from Vancouver, eastwards. There are people shuffling down the road on foot, heading into the city. One of them makes a grab at my bike, and I punch him, knocking him over. A few people pass me, on bikes themselves, and an older woman tells me I shouldn't hesitate to take them out if they try to grab me. A skinny bald man further up the road is moving into my path, and I hold out an arm to clothesline him, but he stumbles away at the last second.

People are still shuffling around, but they're a little more zombie-like now. Two people are holed up in a lab, a guy with shoulder-length black hair wearing a leather jacket, and the main character from Zombieland. We have a few frantic fight scenes. I end up throwing hard punches at the zombies and wishing I had a shotgun, but punching them tends to stun them for a few seconds, so that's something. A zombie with tangled curly hair, a bigger guy, rushes us, and I accidentally tear off the bandages covering his mouth. He tries to bite me, and I swing a computer moniter into his head repeatedly, until he stops twitching.

We have to get something from the control room, so I'm rappelling down a wide chute, in circles around the wires coming from the centre. I realize too late that going in circles means that I have less rope, and I'm several metres from the ground when I run out. Climbing out the vertical hole, about twenty metres, would be practically impossible, so I untangle myself from the harness and drop to the floor. I land easily. I see a flash of what's on the other side of the exit, a conveyor belt leading to the zombie from before.

I hurtle out of the chute at full speed, launching myself at the zombie and aiming a punch at his jaw. My punch barely connects, and I realize too late that it's too weak to do anything. The zombie looks at me, and I've used up all my momentum; I panic. I push back at the zombie, telekinetically blasting it into the wall, splattering its brains over the metallic surface.

Abruptly, I realize that I'm dreaming, and I walk to the control room, throwing zombies through the walls as they try to approach. I'm having so much fun, and the remaining zombies scatter like leaves, though their landings are bloodier. I reach my destination and find a zombie!GIR and zombie!Yoda standing there waiting for me. They've gotten bigger. I try to toss them away with TK, but the move barely pushes them a few centimetres. The pair stalks menacingly toward me.

I'm lucid, though, and decide this is a complete waste of time. I decide to ignore the pair and go look for Walms. I look away from the bizarre zombies and make for the exit. Zombie!GIR is a green couch bumping up against my leg.

I'm waking up. I try to stabilize,
but fail.

New dream. We're survivors in an art gallery IN SPACE while running a pet shop. We find other survivors on earth and establish an alliance. My cousins want to look at the fish.

I have the wrong prescription for contacts and I'm running away from a government conspiracy with my family. Or monsters, maybe. My brother wants to know why this is necessary.

My luggage is too heavy, after I get off the bus, but I find that if I lean a certain way, I start floating along automatically. I run into Milly's mom, Pat Green*, and we go for lunch at a vegetarian cafe.

*From high school. You realize I'm making all these names up, right?
