    1. First lesson in time dilation

      I'm some sort of private investigator, and I'm searching for evidence with 2 coworkers in an apartment.
      I quickly realize that I don't seem to have any gloves on me and ask one of my friends to give me some.
      After putting on the gloves I go to the kitchen and start opening all the cabinets.
      I wonder what I'm looking for...

      "Hey, what are we looking for again?"
      "Are you serious?"
      "Uuh... yeah..."
      "*sigh* we're looking for a quantum accelerated pipe."

      ... wait what?

      "Like, for smoking?"
      "For smoking weed, yes."

      A quantum accelerated... wtf?
      I keep searching and end up finding the most glorious of smoking devices I have ever seen.
      It seems to be made out of some sort of glass and it glows in all kinds of colors, depending on how you angle it against the light.
      But then finally it dawns on me... a quantum accelerated pipe... yeah... right...


      I rub my hands and further investigate the pipe.
      I am sad to find out that it isn't loaded. I would have loved to smoke some weed.

      I remember that Yuya told me that I should break out of the dream plot when I become lucid.
      Oh! And she wanted to teach me about time dilation!
      I become very excited and quickly teleport myself to Teraluna.

      I end up in a flower garden. Yuya is attending to some flowers right in front of me.

      "Yuya Yuya Yuya"
      "Hi?"
      "Hi! Time dilation and stuff!"

      She grins.

      "Calm down! You're going to wake up."

      Right...
      After attempting to get myself into a calmer state I take a look at my surroundings.
      The flower garden is beautiful. All of the flowers are very colorful and they smell great.
      I touch and smell some of them until I decide that the dream is perfectly stable.

      "So... the thing you call time dilation."
      "Yes!"
      "Well, for starters it isn't really time dilation."
      "I guess. I couldn't think of a better word to describe it."
      "Right. So, there's quite a few ways to approach this."
      "I'm pretty sure I know which way works best for you, but first of all we need to work on something else."

      "Oh?"
      "Well, it's sort of directly related."
      "Sure, what is it?"
      "Your awareness in dreams."
      "I've noticed that you sometimes are extremely aware when you're here, but only for short periods of time."
      "You experience awareness in short bursts rather than continuously"

      I quickly realize that she's spot on about that.

      "Yeah, now that you mention it, it's pretty bad."
      "Good, so first of all I am going to show you a technique to hold a certain level of awareness."
      "Great!"

      She drops the flowers.

      "Let's go for a walk!"


      We walk through the flower garden and talk some more about time dilation.

      "Alright, stop!"
      "Hm?"
      "I want you to tell me the color of each flower on the plant we just passed, without looking."
      "Err, sure? Let's see... it was green, yellow, blue, yellow..."
      "No, you're cheating."
      "I am?"
      "You're using your sense of global awareness to tell what color they are without looking, what I need you to do is to remember what color they are."
      "What? All of them?"
      "Yes! I want you to remember every single detail of what you experience."
      "Let's keep walking and pay attention."

      This is going to be hard... like, really hard.
      Is it even possible to do this?

      "Sure it is, especially since you're dreaming. Remember when I told you the difference between focusing on something in waking life and in dreams?"
      "Oh yeah, that's right."

      I focus really hard on everything I see, even the smallest of details, and try to take mental note of them.
      We walk past a similar plant, with approximately 50 flowers on it.

      "From top to bottom, go!"

      I try to remember and surprisingly, accessing my memories feels natural and easy.

      "Red, red, yellow, blue, yellow... err, ultraviolet?, red, blue, blue..."

      I keep going through about 20 of them until Yuya stops me.

      "Hey hey, awareness!"
      "What? Was I wrong?"
      "No, but you're neglecting your awareness. Have you noted the details of the things we just passed?"
      "Oh... oops. Wow, this is hard."
      "Haha, see, just memorizing and remembering is easy."
      "What I want to teach you is to remain aware of your surroundings, even if you are focusing on something else."
      "If you can do that you should be able to continuously remain aware much more easily."

      This makes so much sense!
      Yuya is so amazing, why haven't I asked her about this before?

      We keep doing this. I memorize all the flowers including other details and try to recite them from memory without loosing awareness of the new surroundings I encounter through walking.
      It's really hard at first, but then it becomes surprisingly easy.
      I feel like a genius, having such amazing memory all of a sudden.

      Since I focus so hard on my vision, it becomes more and more intense.
      I can see beyond the color spectrum visible to the human eye.
      Ultraviolet and infrared, I can see them so clearly.
      They aren't red or violet at all, they are entirely different colors.
      The now 5 base colors start merging together to form new ones.
      Everything is so beautiful.

      It is so hard not to get distracted by this beauty. I have to remain aware of everything.
      But it works! I can quite literally feel my awareness leveling out and remaining strong as I go along.

      Yuya keeps asking me more and more difficult questions.

      "How did this plant smell like?"

      I can no longer answer these question with words, so I project my memories towards her, showing that I remember clearly.
      We go on like this for some more minutes.
      I feel like I have just achieved something major.
      I have never ever experienced such an amount of focus.

      We finally reach the end of the flower garden.

      "And stop!"
      "Okay?"
      "Yep, time to relax, you cannot possibly keep this up much longer."
      "Oh, I can't? It started to feel natural some moments ago."
      "Still, if you keep that level of focus up for too long your brain will just spontaneously break out of it."
      "You'll either loose all your awareness or even wake up."

      "So it would be a bad idea to try and do this all the time?"
      "Yes. You can do it for a limited period of time, for example during a battle where you need the extra focus."
      "What I'm teaching you is to remain at a constant level of awareness."
      "The important part here is that it is constant, not that it is on a level where you have surreal perception and memory."
      "The goal is to never let it drift below a certain threshold, this way dream stability should remain high."

      I understand her so well, her explanations are perfect.

      "It's just more efficient for you to learn it this way."
      "Not everyone is capable of achieving such a level of focus."
      "It's something you often find in dreamers that are experienced with dream battles."

      Dream battling has so many uses, how amazing.

      "So dream stability is directly related to your level of awareness?"
      "Well, yes, sort of. It's complicated."
      "It always is."
      "Actually, it is really simple... like most things."
      "Yeah right."
      "It's the painfully simple things the human mind cannot comprehend."
      "After all your mind is trained to understand the complexity of the waking world, not the simplicity of the dream world."

      Wow. That is deep.
      I have never thought of it this way.
      Yuya never ceases to amaze me.
      She just drops these mind blowing ideas on me, as if they were the most obvious things in existence.

      "Should I try to do this awareness technique in waking life?"
      "No. At least not right now. You said you have constant headaches."
      "Yeah, probably a bad idea."

      She smiles and gives me a big hug.

      "We'll continue this next time."
      "Wake up and write this down so you don't forget it."
      "I will! Until next time!"

      Wake up... Have I ever tried waking up from a dream that wasn't a nightmare?
      Heck, even a nightmare I haven't tried to wake up from in forever.
      I close my eyes and command myself to wake up with my inner voice.
      I feel a tingling sensation all over my body.


      I open my eyes.
      A quick nose plug RC confirms that I am awake and I start taking notes, excited to have taken my first step towards properly long dreams.
    2. Elves of Old (10-27-11)

      My twin sister, who occasionally co-stars in my dreams with me, and I are escorted into a huge throne room. Scarlet banners hang from the walls, and the floor tiles were gold. The king was there, but I can't remember what he looked like. He asked my twin what went best with wine, She tells him 'white dumplings'. Wrong answer, so we are escorted downstairs to where many others live who have failed the test. I never answered the question, so I am lined up with four others, who have yet to give an answer. We go upstairs, a new girl comes in and goes first. She says something, it is the correct answer, and she is named as an elf, which haven't existed in years.

      Scene shifts, we're on my grandmothers front porch. She is holding a little green-and-purple cardboard circle with a hole in the middle. She comments on how the flowers are withered. I look at her, trying to relay a point. She understands somehow, and kisses the circle. Not exactly what I had in mind. She thinks for a moment, then whistles softly. A few of the flowers start moving, then top. I figure she could use some help. I start to sing very softly, just giving her a push. The flowers started to bloom. The new girl looks on in wonder. My twin walks up form behind us and starts to hum. The flowers brighten. As I sing, my twin hums, and the new girl whistles, the flowers bloom, lift, and brighten. We were each given elven names, but I couldn't remember what they were. I only remembered that I was sun, my twin was earth, and the new girl was water.

      A few hours later I looked back in my journal. I KNEW that we had been given names. I went on Google Translate and typed 'sun'. I tried different languages. After many different tries, I picked French. It said that 'sun' in french was Soleil. As soon as I saw that I remembered our given names. My name was Soleil, the new girl was Eau, and my twin was Terre. I didn't have to translate them to know what they meant. One my coolest dreams ever

    3. Semi-Lucid - Smelling the Flowers

      Notes:
      I remembered two dreams last night, one of which is this entry. (I'll finish typing up the other one in the morning.) This dream was another cool lucid, if not a low-level one. I did some more stabilization, including looking closely at an incredibly detailed flower, and I teleported to an airport reminiscent of the brief shot from Fight Club where the narrator runs up to a window. I kinda lost my lucidity, and the dream, after that though. It was still worth it.

      I started out in my bedroom. There was just a slight amount of moonlight coming in through the window blinds, but other than that, it was very dark - so dark, in fact, that as I was walking around, I had my hands out in front of me. I could barely see the outlines of objects in my room! According to the preexisting plot of this dream, I had just finished a WILD attempt, and I had entered this dream moments earlier. I was 'lucid' - but not actually. I was only pretending to be lucid as part of the dream plot, when in reality I wasn't lucid at all. I remember being slightly nervous because the area was so dark, and I wanted to get out as soon as I could. I was initially standing near the foot of my bed, but then I started following an invisible ball of energy, which was floating not two feet in front of me, at around shoulder level. It gave off a distinguishable presence, even though I couldn't see it, and I knew that this ball of energy was KingYoshi. He had been waiting for me to enter the dream, and was now going to show me where to go (what...?!). It started moving towards the window, and I slowly walked after it.

      I arrived at the window and forgot all about the "KingYoshi" ball. When I walked up to the window, the lighting coming through the blinds became a bit brighter and more aqua in color, as if an alien spaceship had just come down and hovered in front of it. I grabbed the right side of the blinds, bunching a few of them up with my hand and pulling them down with a slight amount of effort. I sensed there was a dark hand above the blinds, trying to prevent me from pulling them down and onto the floor. Anyways, I was now looking out a window without the actual windowpane in place; it was just an open area now. I don't know if there was a windowpane to begin with, but did it matter?

      I looked out the window and down towards the ground (my room is on the second floor of the house) and I saw the front driveway of my house. This was a little 'off', because the window to my bedroom in real life is looking out over the backyard, not the front area of the house. But this didn't matter. In real life, the driveway of my house is a big square area that consists of many neatly-arranged, reddish stones with a connecting driveway to the street. It was the same in the dream, except instead of there being a 2-lane residential road, there was a pressed gravel road. On the other side of this road, instead of houses, there were lots of pine trees. There was also a large pine tree on the right side of the driveway, right next to some smaller shrubs and greenery.

      Back to myself, I was still in the house, overlooking this area. Like in my previous recorded dream, I made a lazy jump out the window. However, even though the distance from my second-story bedroom to the ground seemed pretty far from the window, as I jumped, the distance seamlessly became next to nothing. There was next to no impact when I landed. I only recoiled slightly, which wasn't very noticeable. The atmosphere and time of day was still nighttime, but it was more well-lit outside because of the moon (which I knew was out, even though I didn't actually see it in the sky). I started to walk down the driveway, away from the house, and I became lucid once I got about halfway there. I did the nose-plug RC, and I could breathe, so I knew I was dreaming. I rubbed my hands together and looked at them, counting five fingers on each hand. If something was weird about them, I never noticed.

      I continued walking down the driveway and, since I was only semi-lucid, I didn't think of teleporting at the moment. Instead, I involuntarily decided to turn right down the gravel road and walk in the moonlight. Right before I turned the corner, I saw a few green dandelion weeds (minus the yellow dandelion part) at the foot of the large pine tree next to the driveway. These weeds were accompanied by a few white daisies, and a small clump of lilacs. The flowers all looked normal; realistic - the daisies had white petals with a yellow center, and the lilacs were lavender in color, just like they are in real life. I knelt down and smelled the air around the flowers, and I could actually pick up the scent of lilacs! It was awesome!

      I turned my attention towards the daisies. I picked one up; it didn't put up a fight and resist being pulled up from the soil at all, as if it was just floating in air. As I brought it towards my face and looked at it closely, I realized that the white petals now had a huge amount of tiny, pint-sized holes in them; these holes were more abundant towards the outer regions of the petal, and a few of these petals looked like they were eaten a bit around the edges. I saw the slight bending of the petals as they connected to the center, which now looked like the middle of a sunflower with all the seeds, except this was a solid yellow. The amount of detail was stunning; I'd never seen details as crystal clear and sharp before, regardless of the fact that I was only semi-lucid. The flower was so sharp, in fact, one could easily have thought there was aliasing around the edges. My gaze was fixed on this flower for a good minute or so, just observing all the details.

      "Wow, this is amazing!" I gasped sometime during the observation, completely astonished.

      I could make this entry a five-star one just from that moment alone.

      After I finished looking at the flower, I got up onto my feet again and dropped it to the ground. Then I continued walking down the gravel road, surrounded on both sides by large, dense pine trees. I observed that the trees on the right side of the road were a bit thinner and shorter than the ones on the left, looking back and forth a few times and chuckling because of that strange layout. After two or three minutes of just walking along, I got to a clearing. It was like one of those half-circle campsites you see along the side of the road, except at least five times the size, and there was one of these on both sides of the gravel road. The ground was all gravel now, with the exception of the grassy terrain that started on the edges of these 'campsites', where the pine trees were clustered, bordering the area. The place made a big circular clearing that must have been a good two hundred feet wide and long.

      On either sides of the circle were some pretty strange setups, though. On the right side of the clearing, there were two thicker, square glass panels that were propped up on their sides, about thirty feet from one another. They were at a good ten feet high and wide. On top of them, going from one panel to the other, was a longer glass panel of the same thickness. In between the two square glass pieces, and sheltered by the long one on top, was a big bed. It looked like something from a game; the bed was very smooth (like plastic) and basically consisted of a solid, wood-colored rectangle with another, pale red-purple rectangle with smoothed edges on top and coming over the sides like a bedsheet. I saw a low headboard made from the same wood-colored piece as the rest of the bed. There was a white rectangle, again with smoothed edges, for a pillow on top of the covers near the end.

      I was losing my lucidity; by now I was probably only at a 3/10, but I kept going in regards to dream control. I turned to the left and saw a small, beaten-up wooden house. I walked over to it and opened the door, entering into a bedroom. This bedroom was about 15x15 feet with smooth, medium-tone hardwood floors, beige wallpaper, and brown wooden paneling along the floor (I'm tired; I can't remember what it's called at the moment). There was a closet in the middle of one wall; it took up a good chunk of the wallspace and was made of two smooth, sliding wooden doors with no handles. I went over to this closet, dug my nails into the wood of the left door, and pulled it over to the right, expecting an airport terminal to be on the other side. I needed there to be a large glass window and viewing area - I'm surprised I managed to teleport like this, let alone to the proper area, with such a low level of lucidity. The door opened to practically an exact replica of the airport briefly seen in Fight Club, near the end of the film. It's that place the narrator is in when he's got himself smushed against the window, frantically looking outside. I could see down the terminal and saw a regular seating area, but the place was all empty. There were no people whatsoever.


      I'd completely lost my lucidity at that point, and the dream not ten seconds later.

    4. The Race Car Garage

      Awake, Non-lucid, Semi-lucid, [Commentary made while awake]

      I'm at the park in the neighborhood where Houses #1 and #2 are. I'm in a building in the park that houses a snack bar. There are various types of junk food available for sale, and there's a young man staffing the snack bar. I talk to him, saying something like, “It's nice to see this snack bar open! I've lived here since I was one and a half, and this is the first time I've ever seen this place staffed.”

      I go into a back room of the same building. There are a whole bunch of little kids there, and I'm supposed to give them a speech, explaining about some kind of event that's going on. I climb up on top of the bed, stand on it, and speak very haltingly. I'm sleepy, so I go to sleep in one of the beds that's in that back room.

      I'm in an underground garage, where racing cars are getting ready for a race. Each one starts out from a different parking space in the garage and drives up one of several ramps to get out onto the outdoor, ground-level race track. I stand close to one of the pillars, afraid that one of the cars will run me over if I get in the way.
      There are some other people standing around in the garage, and I try to ask them how to get out. I try to shout to make myself heard over the noise of the car engines, but they drown out my voice.

      After all the cars are gone, the people answer my question. They give me directions up and out of the underground garage and into a garden. They tell me to climb on top of this boxy wooden frame thing and balance there, while holding a potted plant with bright red flowers on top of a long stem. I do so. The people and I start singing a little song, the last line of which is, “I'll spontaneously combust!” I know that this is what will happen when I reach the end of the song, but I'm not afraid, because I know that that's how I'm going to get out of this place and back to the real world.

      Indeed, right before I reach the last syllable of the last word, I suddenly can't see anything, and I feel a sensation come over my entire body. It doesn't feel like being burned with fire, though;
      it's the pins-and-needles feeling of random feedback from nerve endings. I find that I've woken up.
    5. movie theatre couples; calming touch; pulling weeds

      Good morning, everybody. Happy New Year.

      My dream recall was pretty terrible over the past two weeks. I was just relaxing and doing holiday stuff.

      I recall three dreams from last night.

      Dream #1

      I was in a movie theatre. The movie ended. I walked out into the hallway. I was waiting for another movie.

      There was a woman in the hallway whom I recognized as having sat behind me in the theatre. She had seemed to take an interest in me in the theatre. So I thought I would return the interest.

      But as soon as I acted interested in the woman, she ran down the hallway and started playing with a light-skinned black boy who looked about 10 years old. I understood that this woman and boy were lovers. The woman had just acted interested in me to trick me and make herself feel good.

      There was now an Asian boy with me. He looked about 10 years old. The second movie was starting. I walked the boy into the theatre.

      We at first sat in the back rows of the theatre, where I had been sitting before. But now the back rows were so crowded that I was getting annoyed. I left the Asian boy in the back rows (he seemed to want to be there) and went up toward the front of the theatre.

      The theatre's seating swung around in weird ways, and the aisle between the groups of seats curved like a snake.

      The movie was starting. I finally sat down in an aisle seat a little closer than halfway to the front of the theatre. I was surprised by how empty the theatre was up toward the front.

      The movie image I saw may have had something to do with a road on a hilltop, a clear, blue, summer sky, and a white, 1970s-style car.

      Dream #2

      I was in some living room with an old female friend, G. She sat on a couch or chair to my right while I stood. She may have been sitting on the arm of the chair. She felt almost as tall sitting as I was standing.

      G had been making fun of me, saying some really nasty things, which I found typical of her. I got mad and was just about to go away. But G began stroking my arm in a really seductive way. She said some really nice things to me. I became aroused and thought I might stick around and see whether I could have sex with her.

      Dream #3

      I was in a space for a flower garden in a park. The garden space was maybe 20m wide and 7m deep. It was a sunny day, but the light felt slightly grey.

      The garden space was full of weeds. The weeds were single, slender flowers that looked like tulip stems topped with cream-colored hellebore (or lotus?) blossoms. The garden space was densely packed with the flowers.

      I was "killing" the weeds by pulling off their blossoms. I had gotten about halfway through the garden when I stood up to look at all my work. I saw half the garden full of just stalks. Beneath, I saw dusty soil.

      I wondered why I was just pulling the blossoms off. Why didn't I just pull the flowers out of the soil by the roots? That way, I thought, any remaining roots would die from the cold before they could sprout up again. Something about this thought made me think that the month was November.

      My reason for the lack of lucids and quality dreams lately is probably exams.

      In this dream, I was in my bedroom. My room is fairly square with beige walls, and located in the lower level of my house. Two adjacent walls each have a small rectangular window, probably only two or three feet across and a foot tall, trimmed with white. On the other wall, there is a closet that has been taken out to create more space in the room. The wall inside is painted a lighter, almost minty green. The lighting in the room is dimmed but not uncomfortably dark.

      I was in the section where the closet was taken out; in the middle up against the wall, there was my dresser. It was polished wood, and had a tryptic-type mirror with three pieces, the middle one being the largest. I looked in the mirror for a brief second and then at the remnants of a flower, sitting on my dresser. In real life, I own my own white and pink orchid, which hasn't been doing too well as of late. In the dream, there was nothing left of it - literally - the stem and pot were nowhere to be found... Except for some darkly colored, pale and crisp petals that were sitting on the dresser. I picked them up and crunched them in my hand; I then picked up a black garbage bag that suddenly appeared beside me and put the petals in. There was nothing in the bag except for the petals.

      The dream ended - my alarm clock woke me up for my Biology exam.

    7. office party anime convention

      Good morning, everybody.

      Dream #1

      I was at "my office," which was nothing like an offce. I stood on the top of a gigantic (30m tall?) Kitchen counter, looking down over a gathering of flowers that were almost as tall as the kitchen counter. The blossoms were about 5m across and looked like a mix between lotuses and zinnias. They were a cream-white color with yellowy centers.

      From down on the floor, from which the flowers grew, I could hear my company's CEO and someone else talking. They had been planning a party. (There may have been an earlier part to this dream in which I had been helping with the party planning.) They now may have made some reference to me, as if I were not present.

      I thought I would get their attention. I thought I could hop from flower to flower to get closer to them. But I figured that wasn't a great idea. The flowers were probably weak. They might not support my weight.

      At some point, it may have seemed like the flowers were floating in a body of water, as if this gigantic kitchen had been flooded up to the level of the countertop.

      Something had been settled regarding my role in the party, and I was now walking along the counter-top, trying to get to wherever I needed to get to take care of my task. The kitchen floor seemed to get closer and closer, and things took on more and more of a regular proportion.

      At some point my CEO walked past me, coming from the opposite direction. He may have been walking on the countertop, but I think he actually was down on the kitchen floor, which was now only 3m or so below the counter-top. I said hi to him. He said hi and addressed me by my name. I was pleasantly surprised that he knew my name.

      I walked past some tall cardboard boxes that were on the counter-top. At the end of the counter-top was something that looked like a way-oversized wheelchair-ramp leading down to an oversized lobby that looked like the lobby to a small office building in a suburban office park.

      I somehow found myself on another ledge, like an oversized counter-top, looking down (about 5m) to an oversized area that had been set up "to look like" a 1950s-style diner (even though I don't think now that the place actually looked like a 1950s-style diner).

      The place had clean wood floors, white walls, and a few round tables. Over the huge front door was a huge "1950s-style" sign which looked like a mix between a clock and a spoon. The name of the restaurant was given, with a (not very convincing) "1950s-style" slogan underneath it.

      I'd had to turn around to see the sign. I turned back around and was now in a smallish theatre, which was still, somehow, the "1950s diner." I stood (on the floor!) at the top and back of the theatre.

      The theatre was full of young people, mostly boys. The theatre's seats were all set up at a couple of different angles. The seating was very steep, like stadium seating. The chairs were red. Down at the bottom was a small stage.

      I understood that an anime festival was about to take place here. Some presenter (possibly a shortish, youngish-looking Asian woman in a grey t-shirt, pale blue jeans, and glasses) was about to begin speaking.

      I found a couple of my friends: a man I don't recognize and my female friend T. They were sitting at the back of the theatre, on red-leather and chrome stools like counter-stools in a 1950s diner.

      I went over to my friends. I lay down across a couple of the stools, stomach-down. I wondered if these seats were very good. After all, this place was packed. Once the presentation started, would we have a bunch of people constantly crowding in front of us?

      My stool-tops now seemed to come directly out of the floor now, instead of being atop chrome poles. T, wearing a long skirt, lifted up her skirt to straddle me and sit on my back.

      I kind of got mad that T had lifted up her skirt. I knew that she'd lift it up enough so that anybody looking would easily see the crotch of her panties. There had already been some creeps looking in our direction. Now that T had basically flashed everybody, these guys would probably really want to cause trouble for me.

      At some point I may have had to tell T to get off me. The way the stool-tops were set and the way T sat on me were putting a lot of pressure on my spine. I figured I'd just roll down onto the floor and let T sit on me that way.

      After this, T and I were standing by some doorway, just outside the theatre, looking into the dark theatre through a half-opened door. We stood in a white walled hallway.

      We were talking to a couple of older, rich-looking, white people, probably a man and a woman. The man and woman were famous and possibly had had something to do with the anime and manga industry. We may have been making plans to collaborate on something.
    8. 06/17/10 The Birth of a Planet

      I was floating in space next to Q. I was already lucid. I'm not sure how I had gotten to that place, but I felt perfectly at home floating in the vastness of space. I looked around to see where in space I was. I saw there was a binary star nearby. It was very bright, so I didn't want to look directly at it. Both of the stars in the system were yellow stars. Q told me that one of them was about the size of Earth's sun, the other one slightly smaller. I could see a planet not far off. It was a terrestrial planet, a large round chunk of rock in space. I could see it was covered in craters and it didn't look habitable. I asked Q if that was a planet I could go to. Q said since it is a dream, I could go wherever I wanted. I thought for a minute… I had not asked the question I wanted to ask. I asked if there was any chance life could develop on the planet. Q looked at the planet and shook his head. He said he didn't see life forming. He said the planet is considerably hotter than Mercury, no atmosphere, temperature on the day side averaging around 1000° F and the temperatures on the night side averaging as low as -500° F. He said there was another planet I might want to take a look at, though.

      Q teleported both of us instantly farther away from the pair of stars. This was another terrestrial planet, and it had a ring around it. I could also see a somewhat dusty atmosphere. Q pointed at the planet. He said that one was closer to Earth, with the temperatures being just a bit warmer there on average, it had a thin atmosphere so the temperature extremes were more than on Earth but not as extreme as on the first planet ranging from -110° F on the coldest nights at the poles during winter to 247° F in the hottest regions during the summer. He suggested we go see the surface of the planet. We flew down to the planet, through the thin atmosphere and landed on a ground made of soft dirt. I was surprised the dirt was so loose. Q said it was loose because there hadn't been any rain to wet it so it could be packed down tightly. I looked across the barren landscape. The dunes of dirt everywhere… there were rock mountains not very far away. It didn't look like it could support any form of life as it exists on Earth.

      I asked Q if this one would have life develop on it. Q said unfortunately it is sterile. Completely sterile. He said a massive solar flare from one of the stars had irradiated the planet and the building blocks of life were no longer there. I asked if he couldn't restore life, or the possibility of life. He said he's not supposed to interfere like that. I asked what if I could figure something out. He said I have free will, so I can do whatever I want there. I looked around. The only thing there seemed to be plenty of was dirt and sunlight. I asked Q if some plant life could get the process of evolving life going here. He said plants would be a good place for life to start here. It certainly wouldn't be fish… I looked around some more. Whatever plant I put here would have to be able to live through anything, in the harshest conditions. I asked Q what the air was made of. He said carbon dioxide, nitrogen, hydrogen primarily. Carbon dioxide… plants can use that… release oxygen… Oxygen bonds with hydrogen to make water… it seemed like that could start a cycle of developing life. But what kind of plant could live in this kind of harsh environment long enough to get that process started? I thought more, I found myself thinking of Walms. Why was I thinking of Walms? I remembered he planted some plants in the biodome. For some reason I was thinking that a plant created by Walms should be able to survive anywhere. I suggested that plant to Q, and he said it sounded like an excellent choice.

      So Q teleported both of us to the biodome. I looked where he indicated. There wasn't just a few small flowers… it was a miniature jungle of flowers. Apparently Walms' flowers had done very well in the biodome. Of course the biodome has very favorable conditions for plants, unlike the dead planet Q and I had been on… I went to the jungle of flowers and looked at a fairly small one, but it looked big enough to be well developed. I started carefully digging. The dream was still very vivid. I was noting the feel of the soil as I dug carefully around the plant's roots, making sure not to damage any of them. The root system was well developed… and it was moving on its own… and it bit me! I pulled it off of my arm and held the flower in such a way that the roots couldn't bite me again. I looked at the active roots… I should have expected something like that on a plant created by Walms… I asked Q if he was sure the flower could survive on that dead planet. He said he could guarantee it. He said if it couldn't, he would have told me when I suggested the plants. I carefully collected five more plants, being careful not to get bitten again… and then went back to Q. I was ready to go back to the planet, the six were about all I could keep at once without being bitten.

      Q teleported us back to the surface of the planet. He said there were places to put the flower so it wouldn't get buried in the drifts of dirt. He said it would most likely still survive and pop out after the wind storm passed, but this would give it a better advantage. We were in an area that was sheltered by rock mountains, and there was very little wind here. I got down on my knees and dug at the dirt. It was very dry and very loose. And it felt so very real. Of course it was real. I set one of the plants down beside me to dig the hole to plant it in. As soon as I set the plant down, however, the roots dug into the dirt on their own. The thing had just planted itself! So there it was, one pretty flower in the otherwise barren dirt. I went to plant another, but Q said to spread them out to make things move along more quickly. I got up and was ready to leave. Q said he thought the plant could use a bit of energy to get it started… like plants on Earth would use a bit of fertilizer to get started… I was going to use normal healing energy, but Q stopped me again. He told me not to forget who had made these flowers. I got the idea, and I gave the plant some dark energy. It immediately looked stronger. I saw inside the flower the name 'Walms' was now clearly visible. I got a brief image of a race of people developing on the planet, discovering this flower was where life had started, calling the flowers the flowers of life and worshipping Walms… and that image was a bit disturbing… oh, well. Odds were any people developing there probably wouldn't even recognize those marks as letters.

      Q and I went around the planet and planted the other flowers, or rather I let them plant themselves… gave them some dark energy, and then Q and I stood and looked at the sixth flower. It seemed six flowers weren't nearly enough to populate the planet with plant life. I told Q maybe we should bring some more. He said it wasn't necessary, but if I wanted to… Q said the planet already had a bright future… but for one problem. He teleported us to space near the planet. He said it was on a degrading orbit, and would fall into one of the suns soon. Great… nice time to tell me that… He reached out towards the planet. From my perspective it looked like he was giant and he was moving the planet with his hands. He shifted it a bit farther from the suns and said that looked good. He said that was a stable orbit for the planet. I said I thought he wasn't supposed to interfere. He said tapping it into a stable orbit is nothing compared to bringing life forms to it… He teleported us back to the biodome.

      I looked at the jungle of flowers again. I saw something farther in… it looked like a light. I wondered what that was. I crawled into the jungle of flowers, pushing towards the light. It seemed to be moving as I approached it. I kept crawling and finally I reached the edge of the flower jungle and fell out, about two and a half feet down to the floor… I was awake now. I looked back at my bed. I had been crawling through the blankets instead of the flowers, and I had fallen right out of bed. Ow… I now believed I was awake, so I lost lucidity.


      FA - I got up and went to the other room. I picked up my fluffy white kitty Princess and went into my mother's room to say good morning to her. She asked what had happened, she had heard the thud. I told her I had been dreaming and I had fallen out of bed. I sat down in the desk chair and turned to look at her… and noticed for the first time she was holding and stroking a chicken. A white chicken. Wtf? I asked her where she had gotten the chicken… she said we had always had the chicken. I asked her why she was petting a chicken. She said it had gotten stressed out, and she was trying to soothe the chicken into laying an egg. She said she wanted eggs for breakfast, but the chicken was too stressed to lay an egg now, so she was trying to get the chicken relaxed enough to lay an egg. She said if I wanted eggs, it would be up to me to soothe the chicken enough so it would lay another egg. I was just sitting there staring at my mom, with a cat in my arms, as my mom stroked the chicken and spoke soothingly to it… It was here that I woke for real.
    9. Baby bottles and the river styx

      Original dreams date to Jan. 27th and Jan. 28th, 2008:

      I had a dream that I bought some shelf space in a department store - the way things worked in the dream, you pretty much rented shelf space like property and oversaw the placing of products there. I decided that I needed to fill it, so I bought a baby bottle and formula factory, but for some reason I couldn't manage to get past the legal hurdles and difficulties involved in getting the factory up and running and placing the products on the shelves. I was very confused by the whole process, and it frustrated me, and I was worried about it causing some serious problems with my taxes.

      Some real world information on the next dream: my friend, Mrs. Y____, passed away the day before. It was some very sad news, but she was a very old lady, and I was glad that she had at least simply passed in her sleep rather than suffering through a long illness. She was a very sweet old woman, so I will miss her. I didn't get a chance to call her before she died (I had moved to another city), which means this dream makes slightly more sense.

      I dreamed that I went to visit Mrs. Y___, but she had moved somewhere else, which required me riding on a boat across a sea. The boat was sort of like a cross between a cruise ship and a Navy ship. I spent some time talking to the second in command, who was a very nice young man with brown hair and appeared to be in his late twenties, but the Captain was nowhere to be seen. Once I reached my destination, I had a little bit of trouble finding Mrs. Y___ because I wasn't quite sure where she lived. The place actually looked almost like a tourist town - sort of like International Drive in Orlando.

      When I finally found her, she was living in a sort of out of the way place, it looked like an old white house surrounded by thick forest - more like swampy forest, though, mangroves and such - down a dirt road. As I walked down the dirt road through the forest to Mrs. Y___'s mansion, I was surprised to see several black futon bed frames fly by, although they had no obvious method of locomotion. It later turned out that one of my friends had rigged a tiny motor to them so that they could roll on their wheels to their destination, which made moving them around easier. I was worried that it would wear the wheels down too fast, since they weren't designed for such heavy or high-speed usage, but he assured me that futon wheels were cheap and it didn't do them any real harm.

      The house looked slightly run-down, but in a welcoming way - if it had been more polished-up, it wouldn't have seemed very homey, and this way it seemed more comfortable and lived-in - and Mrs. Y___ actually seemed to prefer this.

      We chatted for a bit, although I don't remember most of it. It was the usual "how are you" and then one of her favorite subjects, which was her home country, and her usual argument that I really ought to visit there because she thought that I would like it and want to stay and live there. I fell back on my usual argument (that I wouldn't fit in very well), which she dismissed like she usually did. I promised her that I would visit it at some point in the future, when my finances allowed, and this seemed to make her happy.

      Back in the main city, there were quite a few theme parks, which Mrs. Y___ and I explored. One of them was autumn-themed and had a lot of very cool areas filled with colorful buildings and lights, there were mostly children there since it was aimed at children but neat enough for more than a few adults to check it out. We went up into one building which was a staircase that rose into the air, covered in orange balls of light, and the building was shaped like a giant pumpkin sitting in a tree. I don't remember, but it may have been a restaurant.

      In any case, after visiting for a while, I had to leave. After returning back home, I found out that my mother had had to move, and had given my cat - whom I had left with her - up for adoption. It was implied that he had been adopted by another family. I don't own a cat in real life. The cat in question was a very friendly fat orange tabby tom-cat named Halloween, and I was heartbroken. My friend M___ and I went searching for Halloween - it was autumn in my dream now, and went driving down a dirt road on an ATV. We wound up at a place that looked a lot like the theme park that Mrs. Y___ and I visited while I was visiting her, only it was decrepit and abandoned. I never found my cat.

      The dream then changed. I was upset, so I went to visit my aunt L___, who had moved into a very large and old Victorian-style house. I began planting plants all over the house, in pots, in the yard, even inside between the floorboards, and the plants began to grow. My aunt was very pleased, although a little bit worried that the roots might do damage to the floorboards, so I pulled some of the larger ones. The plants began flowering, and the flowers were all very exotic looking, so that there were sprays of tiny blue flowers coming up from the floorboards and all sorts of gigantic tropical orange and purple and green flowers covering the building. When I stamped on the floorboards, they had turned hollow and become filled with plant roots rather than wood.

      I woke up for a while, and then as I was falling asleep again, I began to dream about voices (only voices). I was still half-awake so it might have freaked me out if I weren't used to this happening. There were two male voices, one older and one younger, they sounded prophetic (which, again, is fairly normal in some of my stranger dreams). They were talking about history or something, although I forgot what they were saying, except for a line or two here or there, something about beasts. I then fell asleep.
