    1. Ghosts n' Greenhouses

      by , 08-27-2010 at 06:50 AM
Ok i used to live in a ministry home with a bad ass pastor who helped people get off of drugs and u know took in people off the streets n gave em a good home, it was for a few years when i was 13-17 years old.
anyway last night i had an extremely vivid dream about a huge school that was like the fusion of the last two schools i went to, but also the place where our entire school went for a field trip, go figure, the hallways were filled with people and i dropped in on a few classes meeting up with a few people i knew and whatnot. soon though the school changed scenes to a house on a hill near my actual house the house is huge at least two or three stories tall with two floors going below ground as well and super coushy, and well furnished but missing an entire wall basically, its late at night and i go outside cuz i can't sleep i find some sort of treasure in the trees, i go to get my best friend to tell him of the treasure and we go out but instead of the trees there's a greenhouse attached to the house. This whole while there are ghosts walking around, their the ones who kept me from sleeping, also notably ironic seeing as how it was a dream, and video cameras are set up with the feeds going to random screens throughout the house, the ghosts popping up doin creepy stuff randomly. After the greenhouse bit i wake up.

I am outside my house, planting flowers with a little shovel. I am humming an unknown tune to myself. I stand up and wipe the dirt off my knees. Then I hear a shot echo through the air, and a sharp pain in my chest. I look down, and I see a large bullet wound in my heart. I cover my face with my hands and start to cry. I collapse to the ground, curl up in a ball, and die. Then, my ghost rises from my body. I stand there and look at my body, wondering what happens next. Then, a ray of light appears from above my head. A female angel dressed in white floats down, and holds her hand out to me. “Come,” she says. I reach my hand out to go with her, when somebody starts to pound on the window of our house from the inside.
I look to the window, and see my mom inside, yelling and pointing her finger at me. “Aubery Ruth, don’t you DARE go to heaven! You don’t deserve to go there, you can go straight to hell!” I start to cry, when the angel grabs my hand and drags me to heaven. “Don’t mind her,” she says, “she is going to hell.”

I appear in a dark room, and I'm sitting at a long table. I can hear voices muttering and laughing, but I can't see anything, since it's all dark except a ring of light around me. I look down at a plate in front of me. On it is like some sort of stir fry, mostly yellow with red cubes of meat and broccoli. I pick up my fork and take a bite. Eh, its ok. I thought Heaven food would taste better. A big booming voice says from somewhere, "So, Aubrey, I bet you haven't ever eaten BOOONELESS meat before, eh?" I look around, and say, "Umm actually, we have boneless meat on Earth. Like chicken wings and stuff."

    3. Ghosts? Maybe...

      by , 07-31-2010 at 05:24 AM
I am sitting on my bed watching television when my brother Erik bursts into my room. He stands there and says something to me that I can’t make out, it sounds like he is very far away. I stand up to get closer to hear what he says, when suddenly the door disappears. He looks back at where the door used to be, a look of surprise on his face. I turn around, and watch as my dresser moves in front of where the door used to be, all on its own. Then, a wooden chair comes from nowhere and floats towards me. It starts attacking me, beating me with itself. I scream and run towards where the door used to be. Erik screams and curls into a ball and lies on the floor.
The chair flings itself at me, but I duck and it smashes a hole in the wall. I run out through the hole into the living room. While I am running, I can feel something burning and cutting at my arms. I look, and twenty lit matches are slashing at my arms, singing my skin, causing burn scars. I fall to the floor and roll around screaming, trying to get the matches away. They keep attacking my arms. Suddenly Erik runs into the living room with a glass of water and starts to throw it on the matches. They are doused in water and fall lifeless to the ground.
I get up and look at my arms, realizing I am on fire. I drop to the floor again and roll around until I’m not on fire any more. But now, as I lie on the floor, a baseball bat starts to thwack me on the head. I try to get up, but I can’t move. It’s as if the matches put a curse on me. I soon pass out from being beaten.

    4. #109. Zombies

by , 07-14-2010 at 11:07 PM (Things to Run Away From Really Fast)
      07/14/10

I'm running through a room with a sword, slashing at zombies. I feel like Zorro, only with more stabbing.

An allied DC gets grabbed. I slice apart the zombie holding him, but I scratch him with my blade. We hope for the best.

He thinks something might happen to me. I make an offhand comment, "I don't die." I'm not worried about myself.

I step into the next room. The door slams shut behind us.

I don't have my sword. A voice informs me that I'll have to meet its challenge, or the zombies on the other side of the room will be set free. A handful of neon orange-pink guitar picks appear in my hands. I have to throw them into a 3-inch gap on the other side of the room, in front of the zombies.

I throw two, but they go wild. The creepy childlike voice informs me that if I miss again, we're all going to die.

I hold one pick in the palm of my hand. I will it to float, and slowly send it toward the bucket. It lands perfectly.

I grin at the creepy ghostlike girl that appears out of the wall. She gestures sullenly toward another door and it opens with a creak.

"At least this isn't a dream," I say to my partner, "If it was, I'd have to wake myself up. I have a doctor's appointment in the morning."

I stop and feel for dreaminess. "And now I'm lucid," I say. "I really ought to wake up, though."

I focus on dismantling the dream, aiming for a new location. We'll see if this works...

      ---

False awakening. I beg a friend for a ride to work. Apparently, I work at a pizza place part-time. News to me.

One of the managers says that the new guy seems depressed and it's all my fault. I sigh, and go over to talk to the guy, who's standing in the kitchen.

"Look, it's not that I don't like you." I lie, "I just move around so much, I don't like getting close to people." I kindly leave out the fact that I'm friends with the DC managers, owner, and various and sundry employees.

The creepy fucker smiles at me. I really want to punch him in the face.

    5. #78. Exorcisms

by , 06-16-2010 at 08:23 AM (Things to Run Away From Really Fast)
I try to banish a spirit in the name of God. It works about as well as you'd expect.

I'm at a train station, even though I'm sure that just a second ago, I was actually on my train. I shrug it off and try to get on the next one, but the conductor informs me that they don't allow dogs. I crouch down and hug my golden retriever, and we both stare up at him with sad puppy-eyes.

The man rolls his eyes and tells me that I'll be able to get on the next train. I thank him and walk back to the platform, where the people I'm travelling with are waiting. Fortunately, they have to wait for the next train as well.

We're on the train, but something's wrong. After a bit of investigation, we conclude that the entire train is haunted. Our team of Scooby-Doo-like investigators tracks it to its source - a bathroom in one of the sleeper cars.

I'm chanting nonsense Latin, "Omnipitus spiritus, omnipitus draco lux."* I repeat the chant, but it doesn't seem to be working. In fact, the haunting seems to be getting worse, black smoke sneaking in through cracks in the bathroom mirror.

The black smoke manifests over the vanity, and I catch a glimpse of a little boy in the mirror. The smoke lashes out at my companions, and distantly, I can sense the utter terror that they're beginning to feel. The girls are frozen, unable to move, and I...

      I just feel hungry.

I've forgotten about the chant, and I fall silent and step toward the smoke. It shies away from me, tendrils retreating where I try to touch.

No, that won't do at all.

My hands lay at my side, but I'm latching onto the energy with my mind, pulling it toward me, devouring it. The black energy fades into my cloudy black and red aura, but I feel just a tiny wisp escape.

The girls are catatonic, and I ignore them, stepping silently through the train cars, looking for my quarry.

I see a white rabbit, my childhood pet, hopping through one of the train cars. I pick him up, but he starts squealing and twisting in my arms, trying to get away. He's scratching up my forearms and I wonder, dimly, if he's afraid of the dark presence that's been haunting the train.

No, I realize. The last wisp of the ghost has possessed my rabbit. I pull the last bit of dark energy out of the animal, and consume it. The rabbit goes still. I try to resurrect him, but organs start to leak out of his belly, and the stitching is coming apart.

      ***

"Can you help me?" says the boy.

I'm possessing a ten-year old. Go me. Apparently, the White Council is after us, probably for something I did. Apparently you're not supposed to kill people in this world?

Dresden comes back wearing some sort of ceremonial mask. I'm not paying attention, so the boy freaks out and runs away. He tries to hide in a storage closet, but Dresden catches the door and takes off his mask. "It's just me, kid." I take over and tell him that "I knew that".

I'm Dresden, now. I'm inside my office, talking to Murphy. I say something about the White Council. I'm about to do something really stupid, and it'll probably involve explosions.

      Exorcisms. Scare Factor: 4.

*Apparently, this is really close to the actual exorcism I was going for: ""Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica..."

    6. The Obsidian Cave

by , 05-18-2010 at 05:11 PM (Visions in the Dark)
Dream starts off with me living back at home with my parents. They are bugging me to find a program to do over the summer or get a job. There are several artist's groups listed in the community newspaper but I am reluctant to apply because I don't think I am good enough. My parents take me to an intake session for one of the groups and I bring along a soapstone carving that I made, which looks like a mermaid sitting on a rock. The meeting takes place in a cave in a remote mountain range for some reason. The room we are in is chisled from black obsidian and is dome shaped.

The judges like my carving and one of them says that carving soapstone is really hard (even though in real life it is not) and ask me to step into the middle of the room. There are camera's planted throughout the room and they want to take my picture in the nude. I refuse, even after all the men are aked to leave, but somehow my mom convinces me that it is for the best. After the pictures are done my father and brother Ryan want to see them and I become upset and try to destroy the pictures because I don't want them to see me naked.

As this is happening the judges and my family leave and some archeologists come in carrying some old bones. They place them on the platform in the middle of the room and start taking pictures. A white wisp of smoke emerges from the bones and transforms into a ghost of a man from about a century ago. He is angry and flies around the room wildly. I am the only person who can see him and when he realizes he can talk to me he tells me that he was murdered and that his killer is still roaming free. I try to explain that is impossible because many decades have past and his killer is probably dead now but the ghost will not believe me.

The archeologist's take the bones away and bring in a partially decomposed body of a child. When they take pictures of it the spirit of the dead child awakens and tells me that she was murdered by a pedophile. I feel bad but don't really know what to say and the ghost child goes on to tell me that the murderer has proof of the crime on their computer and she wants me to find it. I try to explain that would be impossible but the ghost evaporates before I can finish speaking.

The body is taken away and I am left alone in the obsidian cave as the doors are locked and lights shut off. When night has fallen the walls of the cave suddenly show that I am deep under water (though still in a cave) and a variety of sea life is circling the dome as if I were in an underwater observatory or something. Not just normal sea creatures but mermaids and weird looking sea monsters swim by as well. I go up to one side of the dome and find that I am slip through it as if walking through a thin layer of jello and I am now out in the water. I can breath despite being underwater and I start swimming around the cave trying to find my way out.

There is a faint glow of light out of a narrow shaft that leads upwards and I follow it until I surface in a small cennote. There is a redheaded woman standing on the side and she helps me out and I find myself near the top of a mountain. On one side there is an ocean and the other side is a flat life-less plain that goes off to another mountain range in the horizon. The redheaded women tells me that the old mountain range was crushed underneath the new mountain and that this one will suffer the same fate when a new mountain appears.

      The dream ends there.
    7. Nightmares About...

      by , 11-16-2008 at 12:15 AM
Random nightmare about Nazis, but for some reason they were dressed as circus clowns.

The next night I had a dream I was playing a shitty internet Flash game that kept crashing. It was all about some sort of reverse-World of Warcraft world and one of the main characters in it was an annoying sea goddess.

Followed by a weird nightmare that was like a combination of a documentary on drug runners and Stephen King's "Christine":

Dreamed there were these guys who gathered and smuggled this plant you had to chew to get high. If you got caught you were looking at a lot of time in prison. Somehow, in the dream, I got coerced into helping these guys. Unfortunately, the feds showed up, and I was the only person who didn't have anywhere to hide. For whatever reason, though, they didn't see me, because I hid the only place I could think of - behind the place's guard dog.

This was followed by a sequence that's scrambled in my brain but led to me standing outside of a rundown/abandoned shack. I'd driven there in a small fuchsia sports car, it looked like a newer Mustang. There was a broken down car there. The house was inhabited by the ghost of a small child; the broken down car was possessed. Little kid ghost was terrified of the car. I approached the car, and the inside began to fill up with water which streamed down the windows as the engine revved. Like any sane human being, I flipped out and ran back to my own car (whose door was open) while little kid ghost tagged along (by holding onto my hair?). I said "you can't go with me, I don't know what to do with you" but it cried and was insistent and I was about to be run over by a possessed demon car, so I didn't argue. I had trouble getting into my car because my legs wouldn't cooperate for some reason (I was so scared my knees had locked). Somehow I managed to hit the gas and take off, with the possessed car in pursuit. I managed to lose it along the way - I guess it couldn't go outside a certain radius - but my own car was out of control, I was cutting people off and driving in the wrong lane of traffic, and my brakes didn't work. I was yelling at little ghost kid to hit the brakes, but all it would do was cry. I then pulled up outside of a small family restaurant owned by a Yugoslavian family and walked inside. In the dream, I knew the family, but didn't know how to explain what just happened.

    8. Swingsets, Children

      by , 11-04-2008 at 12:10 AM
Had a creepy dream that I was in a house in the middle of nowhere. It had belonged to long-dead relatives, one in particular a woman, who had left behind a quilt and some other odds and ends, but all were relics from the 1800s. In any case, the house had little ghost-children who wandered around outside and on the porch, even during daylight. They wanted me to come outside and play. I was understandably reluctant.

Then dreamed I was swinging, only I couldnt get the swing going, and when I did, I kept falling off.
    9. Hags

      by , 05-08-2008 at 02:48 AM
Original dream dated May 7, 2008:

I had a dream about a skinny boy who was tormented by a hag, she sat on his chest and licked his face - eventually, he was able to shake her off and take off on his bicycle, where he raced a train that longer and longer, but not like trains are usually long - like silly putty. It also had the front end of a truck. Eventually, he reached a castle full of the ghosts of old soldiers who had to act out their final battle again and again, and was recruited into their ranks.

I also had a weird vague dream that was sort of like I was at work, and there was another person, a young blond French man, who was sort of my friend. My boss was being a jerk about stuff not getting done, even though it was impossible to do so much. Then I dreamed something about owls, only the owls were not owls, they were big beautiful black and white birds that looked more like hawks, and they had chicks. Then, something about photographing another type of bird with chicks, using my cell camera. The dream ended with an earthquake and firefighters rescuing two little girls from their house, which was falling down the side of a cliff.

Then, for some reason, I was a large, muscular man. I had just gotten out of my jeep and waded across a river, I think I was trying to keep someone from tracking me. The landscape was like woods in perhaps Colorado or Northern CA.
    10. Abandoned Church

by , 09-23-2007 at 05:00 AM (Visions in the Dark)
The dream I had last night took place in an abandoned church. The building was made of stone, which was badly worn by weather, and had many places where the roof had collapsed or a peice of wall had fallen in. The layout of the place consisted of one floor with a staircase that led up to a platform above the altar in one corner of the building. Even though it was daylight outside, the inside of the church was very dark.

I was walking with my mom and dad and a few other people I do not recognize down a dirt road in the middle of what seemed like nowhere. The sky overcast and grey, but bright. When we came upon the abandoned church, my dad wanted to go inside and take some pictures with his digital camera. I felt something "evil" about the place but for some reason I was compelled to follow him in. Everyone went inside except for my mom, who waited outside.

As soon as I walked into the abandoned church I knew it was a bad idea. The darkness that filled the place was not natural and seemed to be filled with ghosts or monsters or whatever unseen malacious entities would lurk in the dark places of an abandoned church. The invisible beings seemed to use the darkness as a cover. These creatures began pulling at my clothes and hair as soon as I crossed the threshold but my dad nor the other people seemed to notice anything.

At one point the invisible monsters grabbed my ankles and left arm and lifted me in the air above my father. He did seem to notice at all, even when I was lifted near the roof, and I found myself unable to scream. I struggled wildly but could not free myself from the invisible hands that held me. I remember feeling more angry then scared and gritted my teeth and sort of half-snarled at the darkness. I don't remember how I got out of there but the end of the dream had everyone walking away from the abandoned church as I lagged behind. I looked over my shoulder and saw many pairs of glowing red eyes looking out at me from the darkness.
    11. Old Dream: Sword Ritual

      by , 07-31-2003 at 03:59 AM
      July 30, 2003:
I was some sort of woman. I don't remember, like, some sort of nobility. But not exactly nobility. This is beside the point. I had this awesome power over the weather and elements... I summoned up this snowstorm, it was the coolest thing I've ever seen, EVER, awake OR asleep. It was like... nothing... and then all of the sudden millions of crystals of ice whipping around everything, and then when several feet of snow had fallen within like a minute, I flipped it off like a switch and then changed the weather so that it all melted within a few seconds. It was really neat. There was this little girl whom I liked a lot and wanted to protect, not my own but the daughter of a friend. Then the dream got sort of weird...

Well, some background on the dream - my husband loved me a lot, we lived in a nice place, etc... I was also some kind of sorceress... then I changed forms for some reason, into a sort of... centaur form... The next thing I remember in the dream was that the little girl was complaining about a boy in the powder room who wouldn't leave her alone... it was the portrait of the son of some other noble guy, and it had become some sort of malevolent spirit for some reason, although I think it may have been that the kid wasn't nice to begin with. So I decided to avoid a fight by just intimidating him and wove some sort of... protection spell? Ward? Something where I traced a form in the air that was myself, holding a sword (which was meant to be some sort of threat, I guess).
    12. Old Dream: Breaking A Curse

      by , 07-22-2003 at 04:02 AM
Original entry dated July 21, 2003:

First, I dreamed there was a fire in Tucson, Arizona, and this woman was trying to beat back the flames and save her house, and she wound up getting horribly burned.
Then the dream changed and we lived on the plains in Africa, or it was in Australia, and there were all of these fires, and animals were running away, etc. and as soon as we thought we'd put them out the fire would come back again...

And there were these reservoirs/waterholes... made of concrete, or something... that used to serve some sort of purpose, but now people just swam in them.
Then we were driving through the country in this horribly beaten up truck and stayed in this house... the houses were like 10 miles apart and most were deserted anyway... anyway, the one guy's great grandmother was dying, and they were sure she was gonna go tonight. I'd been being pestered/tormented by ghosts and spirits and stuff and the house itself was actually particularly bad in that respect, but he said to go in and talk to her before she died, about some sort of ritual that was supposed to help me, where I walked down an aisle with my head down and the priest prayed for me... or whatever... I don't remember the specifics, only that it was done a certain way and she knew the right way.
