Lucid Dreams
This was the second of two lucid dreams from last night, and a pretty close call for the South America Task of the Year. I'm getting closer! Just need to seal the deal! Very fun dream, success or no. Man, I want these bad. Color legend: Non-dream Dream Lucid Lucid #77: The Mesa I'm driving under an overpass, approaching a stoplight. Out of nowhere, the car in front of me stops and I slam on the brakes. The brakes are super sluggish to respond and the car drifts to a very leisurely stop, stopping just a couple of feet from an embarrassing fender-bender. The driver in front of me, a stout, balding man in his 40s with a shaved head, gets out of his car and circles around to the trunk. He shoots me a dirty look, pops the trunk open and pulls out a cooler. It takes a moment before it dawns on me, but I recognize him as a prominent DC from an earlier non-lucid dream and I become lucid. I step out of the car, and the DC walks confrontationally toward me, like he's eager to argue about something. "Not right now," I say, and walk past him, emerging from the overpass into a bright day in some city's downtown. Beautiful glass buildings line the right side of the street and there's some sort of park to my left. Further ahead, a silvered, decorative archway spans the street. Angel Falls is on my mind and I go for a quick Hulk-jump to try to get there. Instead of soaring into the clouds, though, I float gently up into the air, turning slowly around. It feels wonderfully relaxing and I lay back to stare up at the sunny sky, my arms flung out to the side. I float upward, a few feet away from one of those tall, windowed buildings. This feels fantastic to me and I start laughing, continuing to drift upward and slowly turn. I'm having a ball with this, but I don't want to forget what I came to do. I tilt myself vertically again and start to rise more quickly, expecting that Angel Falls will be there on the other side of the building. As I shoot past the roof of the building, I see a broad bay dotted with distant boats. And looking out further over the bay, I see a mesa covered with greenery... one that looks just like the mesa that Angel Falls originates from! (I looked it up and this mesa is called Auyan-tepui.) I decide to sing to keep myself focused on the task, and I come up with the following: "I'm going to Aaaaaaangel Falls!! Hell yeah Aaaaangel Falls!" I'm oblivious to how horrible my lyrics are (and my voice sounds totally rockstar) so this all seems awesome to me. After a while I think about the "Halls" brand cough drops I'd had during WBTB and come up with some second "verse" that rhymes "Falls" with "Halls". I'm sure it sucked as bad as the others but I wish I could remember it. I'm making good progress in my flight over the bay, and I cut past a boat that looks like it's loaded with tourists (most of whom are in bucket hats for some reason.) I'm excited, happy, and confident, but for some reason I lose the dream and wake up. Really thought I had that one!!

This was the first of two lucid dreams from last night. I've had a very irritating cough the last few days, so this gave me the perfect excuse to combine menthol cough drops with my usual Wednesday galantamine night. And yet again, the pre-game LD psych-up session with NewArtemis not only helps me get lucid but also makes her pop up as a DC! Color legend: Non-dream Dream Lucid Lucid #76: Prison Break I'm experiencing hypnagogic imagery that involves some dark, concrete courtyard. I go through some transition (not sure whether DILD or WILD) but I somehow wind up in this scene, fully lucid. I'm crouched in the shadows by a low stone wall. I'm dressed all in black and I have a submachine gun or carbine (with suppressor attached) clutched in my hands. I don't want to use it unless I'm forced to -- I know that I'm here to break someone out of prison and if I'm forced into a firefight I'll be surrounded by guards in minutes. I become aware that I have an earpiece in my left ear and NewArtemis is radioing instructions to me on how to pass through the prison undetected. Her voice is calm, clinical, and precise. "Stay low and keep close to this wall. Stop before you get to the light." I stay crouched down and creep along the wall toward a well-lit spot near a gap in the wall. My footsteps are alarmingly loud, like I'm wearing some kind of clunky loafers. I wince at the sound. I decide that I want to be barefoot and immediately I am. I skulk even more carefully this time, trying to move sort of like what's-his-face from "Splinter Cell". Now my footsteps are completely silent. I feel really smug about this. I stop just before reaching the spotlit area. Pausing for a moment, I rub my hands together to stay connected with my dream body. NewArtemis again: "[CanisLucidus], check your 2." I take this to mean "2 o'clock", and indeed at 2 o'clock I see a darkened guard tower. A lone guard with a rifle patrols here and I'm surprised to see that he's completely black-clad just like I am. I think that I have a good shot at killing him pretty cleanly from where I am, but I don't even want to go there. "He's turning. Go now." I think about rolling for a moment but decide that's too fancy-pants. Instead, I just scurry across the lit area and into a new set of shadows. "Good. Stick to the wall and head to the opposite end of the exercise yard. The way inside will be on your right." I move along the wall all the way to an ultra-dark corner of the yard. The doorway is about forty feet away, a pair of solid-looking steel doors arranged like the doors of an elevator. I'm wondering how I'm going to get in when I awaken in a fit of coughing.

Notes Semi-lucid/gaining lucidity Lucid I recall several dreams from last night. #1 - I had a dream, but don't remember what it was. I wake up. I attempt WILD but cannot tolerate lying on my back; roll over on my side, and fall asleep. While I fall asleep, I still focus on my intent to go lucid: "The next thing I experience is a dream; I am aware; I am in complete control." #2 - I am in a small taco restaurant. It's a hole-in-the-wall restaurant; the walls are avocado green, and the paint is chipping. There is some sort of unnamed danger or dangerous situation. I am looking for M__ , but I can't find him, and I'm getting nervous and anxious. I am calling out, "M__? M__? Where are you?" I have been dreaming for roughly 30 in-dream seconds when something filters into my brain. "I need to be aware. I need to be aware. I need to be lucid," I think. As this happens, my awareness increases. I begin to realize on a basic, non-lucid level that I am dreaming. That awareness increases and leads to a further desire to become lucid, until the dream scene loses its fogginess and I am fully lucid. I know that I am dreaming. The anxiety of the dream that led to my lucidity has not faded, however - I'm still anxious and scared, even though I know that this is a dream and I am theoretically fully in control of the environment. I don't like the taco place at all and, although I know that I should explore my current environment to reinforce my lucidity, I am anxious to get out of there. I remember Advanced Lucid Task I, which is "Find a treasure map and follow it to treasure". I decide that it is far better to pursue that than hang out in the creepy taco place. I attempt to do a scene change by closing and covering my eyes and focusing on an outdoor scene, but fail. When I open my dream eyes, I also open my real eyes. I wake up. I immediately do a reality check; nope, I'm actually awake. I attempt to WILD but I feel overheated and I can't get comfortable, I'm way too hot. I get up and turn down the thermostat. I lie back down. #3 - I am riding a bus alongside a canal. The road is actually level with the water, and the concrete sides of the canal rise above us. I'm riding it with a friend but I don't remember who. It's a coach bus, rather than a city bus. It connects with a ferry and a cruise line called "Olympia". I can only get to where I want to go to on the cruise line, but I'm worried that I don't have enough money. Right now, the emotional tone of the dream is fairly neutral. The bus reaches its destination, and we get off the bus. I read a sign that indicates where the ship we're looking for docks. It docks in a ruined old building; upon inspecting a city map (note: appearance of a map possibly has something to do with my earlier focus on a treasure map) and based on my knowledge of the area, I realize that it is an old orphanage that was destroyed by a fire. I take several photos of the orphanage with my camera. When I look at them again while I am showing them to my companion, there are ghosts in them; I am immediately extremely afraid, and the tone of the dream changes to one of great anxiety and fear. I wake up. I'm not as hot any more, and much more comfortable. #4 - I have a small blond boy with me. He needs to go to the bathroom. There is a van that is supposed to be a bathroom. The child climbs inside and begins to enthusiastically pee everywhere, like a fire hose. The whole thing is presented with the buzz and excitement of a 90s television commercial that is aimed at kids. The kid finishes peeing and climbs out of the van... he is soaked in urine. The woman who is in charge of him (I have switched to 3rd person) complains that he smells awfully ripe, and doesn't want to put him in their car; the man he was with doesn't seem to think it's a big deal. #5 - I am running a chatroom. An idiot comes into my room and is being very annoying. I ban him from the room, but am unable to block his messages. He is spamming me with messages, and it's becoming increasingly irritating. I look for a support button for the website I'm running the room for, so I can ask how to ban him from sending me messages. The dream shifts. I am now recording clips of myself pushing and riding a medical cart up and down a beach, so that I can edit it into one video and put it up on the website. #6 - I am an old man. I am dressed in a rough gray scarf, a worn gray suit, and a brown jacket. My skin is old and dry and wrinkled by age. I am now not the old man, I am watching the old man. He is walking down a city street. It is more like an urban slum, like the areas of large cities that are forgotten and neglected. He -- I mean, I, now -- watches a train go by. He/I meets up with a companion, a bigger guy with a shaved head. We want to go into a building, which is an orphanage, but the building is right along the train tracks and you have to walk across the tracks to reach the door. We have to time things carefully; the woman in the building opens the door, we wait for the first train to pass, and then leap before the next comes. The woman is wearing a plum-colored, old-fashioned traditional British maid's outfit, with frills along the apron. She has brown hair and looks like she is in her late teens or early 20s. We go through the door. The orphanage is now a restaurant. There are corrugated metal stairs leading upstairs, where the food is served. We are on kind of a foyer. The restaurant has 3 floors, we are on the middle. The door behind us has turned into one of those metal gates that shopkeepers raise and lower to open or close their stores at night. We are level with the street; the street is now paved with bricks, and the train track is gone. Each of the levels of the restaurant is level with the street. I feel the floor moving beneath me; the restaurant is actually a truck. I wake up. Attempt WILD, fail. My heater is distracting me. I think I will have to turn it off at night. #7 - I fall asleep. I am in a small town in an area with a temperate climate, although I can't say specifically where. It is summer. There are several wooden buildings, many of them shops. I am now playing a video game. I go into a shop and meet a character and befriend him. He is a large bald man who looks like a biker. I go into another shop, a leather-working shop, and there is a cutscene. A man comes in with a gun and threatens to shoot the shopkeeper. The biker I befriended shows up with perfect timing, and disarms him. I understand that if I had not befriended the first character, the cutscene would have ended more tragically. I exit the shop. Ninjas bound through the trees on the outskirts of town. I realize that I am in no shape to combat ninjas without armor. I re-enter the leatherworker's shop and ask about armor. He tells me to give him a pattern for what I want, within an inch of my measurements, and he will produce it for me. I have an idea of what I want, but I need to find a photo and draw a pattern. I go back outside. The ninjas are dancing around in the trees. There is a female ninja with long hair and a long, pale blue scarf. She is wearing some kind of dark purple 70s pantsuit/leotard. She slices off the ear of another female ninja with short, blonde hair. She springs off of tree branches, and it looks like ballet. I think to myself (semi-lucidly) that that is ridiculous and could never happen in real life because those branches would not support her weight and nobody can jump like that. I wake up.

Wait, didn't I leave this place . . . ? (LUCID) While walking around in Barcelona, I see something that I really want to take a picture of. Unfortunately, I recently posted to Facebook some pictures of the plane taking off that took me from Barcelona back to the States. It would be silly to add more pictures after that one, since you'd think pictures of the plane taking off should be the last ones in the album. But wait--there's a good reason for that. Logically it shouldn't be possible to take any more pictures after that. Unless I came back to Barcelona somehow . . . ? That's absolutely ridiculous; obviously I'm dreaming right now. (I do a RC to check, though.) Sweet! What should I do? I should do one of my dream goals. What were they? Swim beneath the ocean, and talk to my future self. Let's do the ocean one. Where will I find an ocean? Maybe I should just walk over to the beaches on the Mediterranean. That would take a while, though. Fortunately, I see some water just over the small hill running parallel to this road. I walk to the top of the hill, but the dream is very dark. I start shouting "clarity!" and "light!" in alternation. I go on for a while, and my shouts get angrier as I continue to be unsuccessful. There are flickers of light, and bigger flickers, but nothing seems to stick. Eventually even the flickers die out and all goes dark. [I seem to recall having woken up and written down the dream after that, but when I actually woke up later, nothing was written.] [I'm back home now, so I intend to return to regular updates.]
The dream begins with a nightmare. I am in a place where I cannot touch the floor or I will fall through and get eaten by sharks. It's much like the childhood game my sister and I would play called “Lava” (in which we would pretend the floor was molten lava and we could only touch or step on furniture to make our way throughout the house). I don’t remember much of it except that 2 creepy old men were chasing me and each of them died. At some point I become lucid. I am in a house. Now that I know I am dreaming touching the floor is no longer a concern of mine. I go up to the first window I see. Outside it's raining and there's a boat dock that has a canoe in it. The window has a latch on it which I undo and push open to hop out. I walk on the wet pavement..There seems to be no one around. "Hello? Is there anyone there?" I yell out. There's no answer. I go up the road trying to find someone to interact with. The dream is very stable and I am much more calm than I have been in the past after becoming lucid, and I know it will help keep me in the dream longer.I get to a downtown area where there are many people going about daily business. A couple of girls in the distance are staring at me excitedly and whispering. One of them has long straight black hair with straight edge bangs and is very tan. The other is pale and blonde. The black haired girl is really excited to see me but I find her to be really annoying. She talks like an annoying girly sorority girl. She asks if I want to stop by her place, but she motions me toward the area where the nightmare started. Hell no. I tell her no thank you. "It's ok," she says, "I do have to get going anyway though!" She waves goodbye to both me and the blonde and runs off. The blonde laughs at me,"Don't mind her. She's a little spacey." "Who are you?" I ask. At first I think she tells me "Laurie" but I can't quite hear her. "Hi Laurie," I say. She corrects me, "Oh, not Laurie, it’s Zuri.” “That’s a unique name.” I reply. I feel so comfortable and also feel strongly that there is something special about her. It's rare when I can really talk to a DC like this and have it feel so normal. Zuri is such a great name too. One that I had never thought of before. The dream is also very stable compared to the last few I've had which only causes me to feel more intrigued by her. I study what she looks like (so that later I can draw her). Her hair is shoulder length and wavy. She's wearing dangling pearl earrings. Her outfit is a white men's style jacket with a tight dark blue dress that stops just above her knee. I didn't look at her shoes but I assume she is wearing heels. She grabs my left hand,“I think we’ll head over to my place, and I think you’ll find it much more comfortable anyway.” We begin walking through the city. It’s modern and clean. Everything is well-kept. There is no trash or litter. The lights from the windows make the place seem to glow as it grows darker outside. Zuri is so pretty too. I resist the urge to tell her though. I want to find out more about her, but more in the way I would actually try to get to know someone in person than treating her like another random DC. “It’s just up ahead around the corner,”she points out, “I live in Park Place.” Once we turn the corner we enter an apartment building. We walk down the hall and stop at the first door on the right. I look at the numbers above the door. They read “208 Viloire 08”. Zuri takes her keys from her purse and begins unlocking the door. Just as that happens I wake up. Damn it!

So last night i had the most amazing lucid dream. I'm standing in the middle of a crossroad, no one around and as I look to the sky I see a red comet. "Dragons.." I say and burst out in laughing: I'm dreaming. So I thought:" Dude, i'm totally going to fly now." Wich worked!!!! AWSOME I CAN FLY YEAHHHHHHHHHHH, but keep Calm Vince, else you're going to wake up!!! So the next moment i'm in the sky with 2 incredibely hot girls around my neck looking for trouble. And then there he was.... Voldermort...... This...is it... After a relatively long battle(At least, it felt long) I defeated him and got laid with one of the nice ladies. But I tried ( yes i'm a nerd i know.) a Kamehameha wave, but it didnt work... Also going super saiyan doesnt work for me.... -,- need some more practice i think.... Thanks for reading anyhow!
03.13.2013Overthrowing the Tea Party (DEILD) NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID I wake up in sleep paralysis, and my clock informs me that I'm late for work. I'm not sure if I'm just hallucinating this, but I can't be late after missing so much last week! I struggle to wake up. No avail. The entire time, a sermon from some conservative southern Baptist preacher is blaring from my television. It is one of the most irritating things ever... Suddenly Amanda comes in the room. "Hey, don't you have class now?" she asks. "Yes," I mumble in a weak voice. "Please wake me up." She sits down on top of me. At first, I am still paralyzed. But then: "Hey, I can move now." I do a reality check and confirm that I'm actually dreaming. I decide I'm probably not really late for anything. "I need you to come with us," Amanda tells me in a strange voice. It's almost as if she's hypnotized. Curious, I decide to play along. "Fair enough. But afterwards, you should help me find that girl that you drew. That's my goal, remember?" She doesn't answer. She just looks at me expectantly, waiting for me to follow her. I shrug and attempt to put on my bedroom slippers. It doesn't work, and I figure I don't need them since it's just a dream. She leads me into an attic where my other friends are waiting. "Hey guys, what's up?" I ask. "Welcome to the Tea Party," they all say in weird, robotic voices. I look around the room and see that it is completely filled with radical Republican propaganda, including some pictures of my friends that show women "in their proper place." What the hell? I take their pictures off the wall and stare my friends dead in the eyes as I rip the papers to shreds. They all gasp in horror. "That's what I think of your stupid Tea Party," I laugh, knowing that I just picked a deadly fight. They all come at me at once, screaming about how I betrayed them and ruined everything. I leap down from the attic, intending to just ignore them and to carry on with my original goal, but they latch onto me. Since they're restraining my arms, I kick out at them violently. Alex complains that I've broken her ribs. "Good," I growl. I wake up when Alex sneezes in real life.
I was on my way to the trainstation to go to school when I sort of drift out of the dream. I realize this before waking up and turn lucid become of it. I was still in the progress of waking up so I quickly dreamspin (while still on my bike, I have NO idea how I did that), and find myself in what looked like a gameworld. I was standing in a purple-violet area that looked like a hallway, with a bunch of strange creatures standing in my way. I get carried away while battling them and lose my lucidity. After beating the creatures I beat the boss in the next room and I reappear in the same position as where I first appeared, only this time everything had a different color (as if to suggest this was level 2). I start the level again but the dream ends then.
Disclaimer: I'm just going to lay out here a straight forward 'all-that-I-remember-from-last-night' journal. I'm not really used to making my journal literali-ish (how some DV members seem to make their journal entries like they come out from a Harry Potter book or something! which is a good thing, btw that I admire - just something I can't do now ;_; ) Last night was really different. Short yet vivid dreams are something I'm not really new to, but over the past few weeks, I haven't really been getting any of those so last night I was sort of just wow'd when I woke up realizing I've had at least 3 of those kinds of lucid dreams last night - all from only 3-6 of sleep. Here's what I remember about waking up, etc.: First, I woke up an hour I think after laying on my bed to rest, but wow it felt a lot more than that. I was just really too exhausted to think about things that time though so I immediately went back to sleep after checking the clock and my laptop. 2nd, I woke up again - just a short waking up, I was too sleepy so I went back immediately to bed after checking the clock 3rd, same thing happened. On to the dream: My dreams last night in a nutshell. One word. Crazy. One part I can recall, I was in school. I was walking along the corridor when I saw this crush of mine. Weird thing, crush was leading her class to clean up and all that. I assume it was dismissal time and the class was going nowhere unless the whole room was cleaned. So she was there, in front of the class, asking everyone to arrange the chairs, then I marched in lol, then she just smiled at me sweetly. I don't remember anything after that. I just remember marching to my own classroom and that's where I saw Crush #2. Crush #2 was with me started making out. Speaking of make outs, on another part of a dream, I recall basically staying in this sort of center. There was this cute girl who sort of resembles Mandy from Billy and Mandy (yes, a cartoon character), then when we got back to our car, she transformed to a human. Like to Ellen Paige human and we started making out too. When I woke up, it was all goody good feeling inside of course. I just felt weird because naturally, the people my dream characters are based on ARE far from how those characters behaved in my dreams. For example, crush #1? The one leading the cleaning in the room? Not the leader type really. More like retreat to a little corner in the room. Total introvert, which I don't mind really. I think that's just the way she is and that's actually very cute of her, but yeah - just to point out the differences. Well that's about everything that I remember from the dreams. Not much with details, just everything there is to it: making out with dream characters. Note: Last night, I applied mantras for the first time in a while. I also switched my sleeping position. I used to sleep with my head on the foot of the bed and just lying with my belly on top, not facing left or right. Just straight lying on my belly. I switched to that when I wanted to improve my dream. Now I went back to my old position and was shocked at the results. Also yesterday, we went out for an exposure trip - did a lot of walking, etc. I haven't really been out of the house for a while now so the rigorous activities might have added to it. My visualization also became more intense, probably because of all the site seeing. I also took 2 short naps during our trip back home. I've read that taking naps help in giving more vivid dreams. I was also very sleepy the time we arrived home. This might have helped a lot.

WILD A lot of the details are vague but ill write what I remember. I laid down to do a WILD, felt vibrations, and was soon running into a dream. I landed in it, and did a RC to solidify that. I was in a mall. I did some flying around, but noticed that I was going slow, that floating in air as if it were water, only to drop after. I'm out of practice, probably. Anyway, I go over to a stand/store and ask the guy to make me some wings. He says okay, and hands me two small, wooden pieces that look like the blades on ice skates. I touch then to my back and they stay in place. I hopped up and flew, this time much faster and better controlled. Not really wings, more like control devices it seemed. I flew around for a bit more, and landed by a young boy. He said something about jell-o creatures. I attempted to summon some but it didn't work at first. Then I tried again and these blobby orange things started appearing. I walked left and came across an arcade game of some kind. Near it was a guy, he said he was a teacher of lucid dreaming techniques or something. But the dream ended there
I just got up from a nap and had an exciting lucid dream to me at least. In the dream I was on the freeway laying down in a car but kinda like I was driving it. Then I looked out the window at the sky and saw large city buildings in the sky, like the top of the buildings were facing me. Then I decided to try taking off like the car was an airplane. But then I woke up.The clouds in the sky were stormy too.

03/12/13 I Got a Job I am in a computer data center. I have a job here. It is time to run the nightly backups. There is one of the backups that I don't know how to run yet. One of my coworkers leads me back to the data center to the appropriate server. There is a tape drive there and my coworker has the appropriate tape for the backup. She shows me where a series of the tapes needs to be inserted. She inserts the first sequence and I insert the second sequence. I look around the place to see where the rest of the servers are. I ask my coworker about them. She says we keep servers secure for many other companies. I see servers with names on them I don't recognize. I see a server marked Abstergo. I do a double take at that. I ask my coworker if that is for real. She says they all are real. I decide that is too weird. I do a reality check by pinching my nose and I can still breathe. This is a dream. I find this annoying since I'd thought I had a job finally. I think about what I want to do. I think about the task if the month to break stuff. I could trash the Abstergo server. I pull the tower of CPUs over with a crash. My coworker asks what I am doing. I tell her I'm giving Abstergo a headache... damn Templars... She asks if I'm crazy and picks up one of the fallen CPUs. She seems relieved that it is still plugged in and working. I pick up one of the other CPUs and slam it to the ground. My coworker says she is going home. When pissed off Abstergo people arrive she will be somewhere else. Oh, and I am sooooo fired. And I'll have a bunch of pissed off Abstergo people after me... what am I working for, the Assassins? Pissed off Templars after me... I tell her that's nothing new. Great, she says... a fucking Assassin in the data center. She says smash away, she quits. I smash a second Abstergo server before I wake. The Horn of Eld I am with a small group of people, we are all gathered together and talking. I recognize some of the people. I recognize MoSh, Roland, Eddie, Susanna, Jake, and Oy… but there are other people I don't recognize. Everyone is talking. After listening to the talk for a bit I realize the other people are from the calla in Wolves of the Calla from the Dark Tower series. They are talking about the so-called wolves that come to take their children, then they tell how the children are sent back ruint. These ruint children are severely mentally disabled, and they only live until they are about 30 years old when they die a rather nasty death. It is clear that some of the calla people would like us to help them, though one of them seems reluctant to accept help. He seems to think that resisting the wolves will just result in more people being killed. He insists they just take one of each set of twins, so they should be thankful for the children who are left whole. There is more talk going on, but my mind ends up wandering, I have a tendency to lose interest in long periods of talk. I look around at the people and I do notice that Roland has the Horn of Eld hanging from his belt. Apparently when I told him to hang onto it in a previous dream he did so. I have a feeling the Horn of Eld will play a key role in setting right whatever is wrong with the Dark Tower. The talk goes on for a while longer, and I find myself wanting to get up and leave, but I just stay there until I wake.
Last night I had my first lucid dream. As I entered into the dream, I realized that I was in a place I didn't know. So I closed my eyes and imagined I was at my new house I am staying in, in real life. When I opened my eyes I was there. In the house I stay in, there is a room with a whole bunch of space, so I thought I would try and levitate around the room. I did and had fun with that for a while. Once I got done doing that, I went to the bathroom just to look in the mirror. As I looked, I remembered that you could use a mirror to transport you somewhere else. I tried to step through the mirror but I couldn't. So I attempted the spinning technique to change my environment. I believe I got to excited and I woke up. When I went back to sleep I tried the same method and ended up in another lucid dream. This time I was at my Mom's boyfriend's trailer. I started walking through his house and normally he has pictures up all over his walls. Well ever time I passed one, they would change into something compleatly new. They even changed into people I did not even know. Well as I got to the end of his hallway, I was walking into the living room. When I got in there I was no longer at his house, but I was at my house in the living room. I looked around wondering how I got there, and as soon as I looked to the right, there was this bald headed kid in a black cloak with a blue head looking back at me. He screamed, ran, and then dove behind something. On the other side of this thing he dove behind, a little blue rabbit, or something like that came out. I just srugged my sholders and decided I wanted to try something. I asked for a girl that I imagined was there to come to the living room from the back room. Nothing happened. So I tried calling for my sister to come out from the back room, and all of a sudden she did. I just wanted to see if I could manifest a person into my dream and I could so I was happy. Then I woke up again. Since my method had worked both times, before I thought I would try it a third time. Sure enough, I went right back into a lucid dream. I ended up at the foot of a huge mountain, so I started heading towards the top. I was going to try and fly off the top of it. As soon as I almost got to the top of the mountain, I started seeing signs that said things like, "Do not attempt to fly." I kept double taking at these signs and the words changed, but they all had the same idea such as, "Dangerous," and "Flying prohibited." I started thinking to rationally, forgetting that I was causing those signs to be there, and decided not to jump. Then I woke up this morning and was so happy that I finally had a lucid dream.
I'm recovering from an illness so it was a coughing, uncomfortable, rough night. I finally had to take 1.5 mg of melatonin to tip myself into sleep at around 4 am to get this LD (which explains the melatonin reference in the dream.) Given all that, I'm really pleased to have gotten lucid. I just wish I'd gotten more than 4 hours of sleep! Color legend: Non-dream Dream Lucid Lucid #75: Floodlights Wife and I are staying in a hotel room and having some disagreement about the use of melatonin in cooking and laundry. She tells me that she will never bake melatonin into bread or use it to wash our towels. Peeved, I hide around the corner out of sight, and sulk about how unreasonable this ban on melatonin baking is. Then we're in bed trying to fall asleep. I roll over to my right side and find that there's a hammer in bed with us! I think about how horrible it would be if REM atonia malfunctioned and one of us had some kind of combat dream. (I've had a vague but long-standing fear of REM behavior disorder since I was pretty young.) I'm pissed that the hotel staff has left this in our bed and I get up, deciding that I have to get rid of this hammer. I slide the hammer flat along the floor and throw it into the hallway through the gap under the door. It spins round and round then clonks into the wall on the opposite end of the hall. It suddenly seems ludicrous to me that the hammer would fit under the door like that and I become lucid. Vividness looks good, so I'm excited. I head for the window of the hotel room, passing two more double beds on the way out. (It occurs to me that the bed I was just in was crammed into the kitchen nook.) As I approach the window, I notice that a four-foot metallic cube is shoved against the wall. It's vibrating ever-so-slightly and there's a strange voice coming out of it saying something about "Orcs Must Die!" (I played this game before going to bed.) I think that the voice is telling me to "insert a coin". I'm really interested in this but I start feeling confused. Worried for my stability, I turn away from the cube and turn my attention back to the window and my goals. I want to make my way to Angel Falls for Task of the Year, so I plan to phase through the glass. I halfheartedly try to push through it, but I know that I'm doing it wrong and my hand is stopped at the window. I struggle to remember what I'm supposed to do. Oh right -- the glass isn't even there. Just do what you want. I simply walk outside into the night, paying no attention to the glass, and find myself standing on a ledge looking out over a nighttime city scene, many stories off of the ground. I don't feel like I can Hulk-jump from this tiny ledge, so I allow myself to rise up to get a better look at the city. I'm high up now, and I see a distant tower topped by a turning searchlight, clearly visible in the night sky. It intrigues me, but I decide to stick with Task of the Year. After floating upward for a while, I land on the hotel roof. I look to the sky above me and see a strange array of floodlights shining down on me like I'm in the middle of a sports arena. The lights are blindingly bright and my vision first goes completely white, then fades to black. For some reason, I don't think of readying myself for DEILD but instead become fixated on asking the dream scene a question. While I'm fiddling around, everything collapses around me.

Or a doctors office. I am with my wife and son for some reason. There is some woman in the same room delivering a baby. The room reminds me of a kitchen area and I am standing next to a built in "island". The woman seems to be propped up on the counter top. There is a bloody mess coming from her and her really young and nervous doctors is saying something about getting the tongs. The woman giving birth becomes very anxious and scared. I think this is going to end badly. I try to be respectful and not look at the woman like a freak show. I see puddles of blood and gore on the floor. Some little girl that I assume it is the daughter of the woman picks up bloody paper towels off the floor. I become alarmed at that but her father makes her stop before I can react. Later, I can't seem to find my wife or son. I go room to room. The house is like a maze. Pause at some doors in a hallway. I think they could at least put some room numbers on the doors. I don't know if I have been here already or not. I see the woman who was in delivery with her newborn son, husband and daughter. They are crouched on the floor next to a pallet. There are no beds. I notice the hospital is sparsely furnished. I ask them if they have seen my wife and son. The man shakes his head no. I become frantic and keep looking. I become suspicious and go back to the man. I mostly want to get a better look at the baby. From a distance he looks older and resembles my own son. I look closer and think they are hiding his face on purpose. He slithers all around under a pillow, in a blanket and then in the womans long black hair. Finally, I get a clear view of his face and decide it isn't my son after all. I ask the man once more if he has seen them. He tells me they left. I feel panic and decide to find them. I feel like something is terribly wrong. Suddenly, I am in my car. For some reason I think they left in my brother's car. I try to think what car he was driving and get a vision of a black Nissan Altima. I peel out and go to direction I think they went. I drive incredibly fast. I see a white sporty car passing and coming my wat. I flash my lights at him and it get back over before we collide. I start noticing how odd the car sounds and how blurry my far away vision is. I feel my foot has the gas petal all the way down. I see a slow semi and a motorcycle in front of me. I don't want to slow down but feel I have to. Then I suddenly become lucid and relax a bit. I go to pass but see on coming traffic. I think to just plow through them for fun but decided they should veer off instead. The cars do just that. I notice one is a white Ford Ranger. Now I have a clear road. I see pasture and country side. I pass a mail box on my right and reach out and slap it. Its spins like a top and I drive on. There is some daycare looking place on my left with huge playground equipment. I wonder what my lucid tasks are but I feel bound to the car and can't think of a way to change the scene without destabilizing. I decide that I am truly curious about the dream and want to continue the story line. The idea comes to me that I have no way to find my wife and son. Suddenly I see glowing yellow wispy tire tracks pointing the way. I start to doubt this and it vanishes. I think maybe I want to drive off and embankment into a valley. I see a small cemetery down there and change my mind. Now all excitement is gone and I feel really bored. I try to just enjoy the country side. A car ride with no rules is always the best. But I lose focus really quickly and I suddenly wake up.
