So... first dream-bits of the new year. 1. Riding horses to pack down soil that was recently plowed up. 2. Eating entire bags of carrots and celery at a picnic because I didn't want a ham sandwich. 3. A strange version of Bejeweled keeps booting itself and my laptop up. 4. Finding our family's cat, Sophie, in a cabin at a national park that had evidence of a bear break-in. 5. Investigating a strange hotel where the exterior doors all lead to different dimensions. One of my expedition partners has a wolf on a leash. Near one of the doors, there's a falcon of some sort with a reddish-brown back sitting on a dead tree. I say something along the lines of "Hey, Mr. Falcon" and it perches on my arm. As we all head toward the door, I notice a hot orange glow through the cracks of the door. The wolf starts straying in the opposite direction while its handler tries to pull it back toward the door. I ask the falcon if it thinks going through the door is a good idea, and it responds negatively. So instead of exploring that part of the hotel, we end up eating falafel and scrambled eggs from a food cart.
I find myself back in highschool, though it is a highschool I do not recognize. I have only one course, Art, which is an elective, because I graduated with honors years ago but yet for some reason this class is manditory for me. Because the school is so big and space and time are limited the class runs for two hours every second day. I am much older than the other students they treat me with great rudeness and disrespect and often I have to clean up their messes after class it out. I cannot complain or cause any trouble in class because I will be automatically kicked out, so I have to take all the crap and be silent. The teacher of the course seems sympathetic to my situation but she is reluctant to step in and say anything. I assume it is because her job will be threatened if she does so. She looks like my former art therapist but has a different personality in the dream. The overseer of the school is a group of Christian priests and they are all mean and oppressive even though it is supposed to be a secular public high school. We are doing sculpture and have the choice of working with coloured modelling clay or real clay and porcelain. I choose porcelain and make many little animals like bears and turtles over many days but at the end of the week I am not allowed to fire them and am asked to destroy them instead. I unhappily agree and not only have to throw out the clay but have to yet again clean up the mess left behind by the other rude, inconsiderate students. I am growing tired of my treatment in the class because all I want to do is make art unhindered and unoppressed. For some reason, the next week I am allowed to bring my four cats to class and this seems to please the other students and they are a lot nicer to me. The cats roam freely around the room while we all work. The teacher brings up the fact that the art room is going to be renovated and all of the students are expected to put some time in painting the walls and cupboards. Of course I end up doing most of the work and spend many lunch hours and time after school to make up for the extra work. I cannot remember the reasons why now but I painted half of the room in a baby blue colour and the other half in a light violet colour, which I finished on the last day before the weekend. This angered the priests who run the school and they demanded that I say the weekend to "repaint the room with the appropriate colours" but left without saying what colours I should use. I was angry and went home without doing the work because I thought it was unfair. The next monday I went to school with my cats as usual and as we worked on new projects I noticed that everybody was very quiet. The class had not been repainted and a priest in a grey shmock was sitting in the class working on something, though I suspected he was there to keep an eye on either me or someone else. He left half way through the class. When class ended and I went to collect my cats I could only find three of them. I was in a panic and asked the rest of the students if they knew where my lost cat but no one knew anything. I asked the teacher but she avoided anwsering the question by trying to change the subject or by sitting at her desk with her head down doing needlework. Eventually I pestered her enough that she told me that the grey cloaked priest took my cat and sold her to someone. At first I thought he was just trying to help because he may have thought it was a stray, but the teacher tells me that it is punishment for not doing as the priests said and staying the weekend to repaint the room. She said I could speak with him the next class. The next class I try to track down the priest who sold my cat, so I can try to find out who he sold it to, but the priest had left the school and apparetnly wasn't ever coming back. I was angry and distraught and tired of all the bullpoop I had to put up in this school and I angrily raged at the teacher and class, as well as, some of the priests who came down to our room unexpectedly (I suppose to gloat over the selling of my cat because they all regarded me with smug smiles on their faces). I yelled and told them all off and stormed out of there filled with hate and frustration. Then I woke up.

I was in my car driving quite fast down one of the streets in my home city, Speedway, and heading for one of the malls. I was heading for Park Mall, though I was looking in the wrong place entirely, but I didn't seem to notice that. Somewhere in the back of my mind I knew this was a dream, but I didn't actively think about it, so I continued going about my business as if I was in waking life. There was someone beside me in the passenger seat, I think it was Tigress, and she was urging me to hurry up before it was too late. I could see tall mountains to the east of Tucson, which aren't there in waking life, the mountains there are rather small. But now they towered over Tucson and disappeared into the clouds, I couldn't even see the tops, and they were covered with thick forests and sheer cliffs. Finally I reached the mall and turned in to the parking lot, the mall was drastically different, too. There were so many trees around, all pine trees, it looked like the forest had moved in to reclaim the area used up by the mall. Tigress and I got out of the car there, and we went to find what we were looking for, which was a specific pool that was out behind the mall. There was too much forest to park any closer to the pool, but the path leading there was pretty clear and easy to follow. Tigress and I followed the path until we came across something weird, something I haven't seen since I regularly created my own levels for the original Doom… What was referred to as a line definition problem, which was basically just a spot where the pieces of the world didn't meet up properly and the player was able to see out of the level and into infinity. But line def problems in a dream? How could that be? My dream wasn't a poorly constructed video game level! I peered through a couple of these cracks in reality, and saw nothing on the other side but a blue sky. That was pretty weird, too. I looked through another of them and I saw a plane in the sky, writing letters with its contrail… I watched until the message was formed, then I could hardly believe what it said… It said, "James Still Loves You," with a large heart around it, what the fuck? Why was I seeing a dumb message like that, since I am fully convinced James never did really love me, he stayed with me for so long due to fear of being alone, and I was all he could get at the time… but now this? I was about to get Tigress' attention to point out the message to her when I woke. I woke up on a bed that wasn't my own, but it was very familiar just the same, and I could hear someone whispering into my ear as I woke up. That someone was behind me on the bed, and he had an arm around me. I remained still and focused on hearing what he was saying, he was saying stuff like, "James loves you," and more shit like, "James will love you forever." I sat up and looked behind me, and it turned out I had been lying on James' bed and sleeping, I looked around the room, it was as cluttered with crap as ever. I got up off the bed, thinking this was really awkward, what would this look like when Tina got home, but then I decided I didn't care what it looked like to Tina. I was thinking aloud when I asked what I was doing in James' bed, he answered by saying I had been tired so I had been taking a nap. He looked at me strangely and asked if I was ok, he looked genuinely concerned, but I know that if he was really concerned for my wellbeing he wouldn't have lied to me repeatedly and he had been the cause of so many nights when I cried myself to sleep… that's not love. I said I didn't know how I had gotten to that room, but I was leaving, James got up and actually blocked the door, now he was asking who I was. When I was dating James, the entities living in my inner world would sometimes take control of my body, with my permission, to either do something or more easily communicate with James, and apparently he thought that had happened this time. I told him to get out of the way, he said I was not leaving until I put Shanna (my waking life name) back in control. I told him it was me, and I just wanted to leave, but he didn't seem to believe that. I then noticed he was looking behind me, he had a strange look on his face, a rather shocked look. I looked behind me and saw a demon there, rather nasty looking. The demon went right past me, picked James up, and threw him through a portal where the window of the bedroom should have been. He smiled at me and said there were still more levels of dreams to go… then I woke. So now I was lying on a couch in a strange house, but I thought I knew what was going on. My mother and I had been visiting friends for dinner, but I had suddenly gotten really tired, so I had lied down on the couch and fallen asleep. I was hoping no one had minded. I sat up and looked around, there were cats everywhere, so I went after the cats. I was able to catch a few of them, which I sat there for several minutes per cat petting and hugging that cat before releasing the cat. The house was absolutely huge, and when I lost track of the last cat I was a bit worried that I didn't know how to find my way back to the front door, I had actually gotten lost in a house! Then I woke. I woke up in a seat that was only semi-comfortable, it was on a bus? No, I thought as I looked around, it was a train of some kind, perhaps a subway, and I wasn't entirely sure of how I had come to be there. My confusion didn't trigger a RC as it should have… I looked around the car I was in and saw it was empty except for me and a boy, who looked to be about 15 years old… he had short black hair, he was wearing a white buttoned shirt with blue jeans, and he was looking at me with the creepiest look I have ever seen from a 15 year old… I thought I should get off the train, so at the next stop I got up and moved towards the door. There was a crowd of people boarding, however, and I wasn't able to get off. All the seats filled up quickly and the door closed, now there were no open seats except for one right next to the creepy guy, and apparently I had to sit. The other passengers were glaring at me and telling me to sit so we could go, so I finally sat beside the kid. He continued to eye me with a creepy look, looked like he might have been in a trance… At this time I woke again, but this time I woke into waking life. Wow… A dream(Tigress/mall) in a dream(with James) in a dream(house guests) in a dream(strange kid)… some seriously nested dreams going on here…
I am at a zoo or park or something and there is a large circular enclosure that sinks into the ground and people can look into from above. I am a part of a research team there to study the newly arrived inhabitants of the enclosure which consist of normal looking domestic cats - normal except for the fact that they have a naturally built in poisonous bite. Two of the cats stand out to me because they look exactly like my two kittens Kali and Mirage, though in the dream I know they are not actually my cats: Getting close to the cats is hard because they are wild in behaviour and shy away from humans. Capturing them is equally hard because they try to use their poisonous bite when cornered or picked up, and indeed one of the researchers is bitten and has to be rushed to the hospital. The cats are natural tree climbers and spend most of their time in the branches of the tree in the enclosure, adding to the difficulty in reaching them. I observe the cats from a distance for several days before setting up a small camp within the enclosure to observe them a little closer. In a few more days the cats are used to my presence and even come out of the trees to explore and investigate my stuff like normal curious housecats would do. They still run away when I approach them though. I end of the dream is a bit fuzzy but I am able to befriend the two cats that look like mine and they even let me hold them, so I can do physical assessments on them. I cannot remember the end of the dream.

I am out fishing with one of the wizards of unseen university, in a boat on the sea.I think my companion may be Mustrum Ridcully but I'm not entirely sure. I have a horrible feeling that something truly awful is going to happen and the very thought makes me feel miserable. I have a sneaking suspicion I might be rincewind in this part of my dream but really have no way to check. We catcha mackerel each, I remember looking at the colours of the fish. The scenery shifts and now myself and my flatmate are sitting on a sweeping stone staircase somewhere outside. I pass him a bottle of what I think is Jack Daniels but now that I think about it, it didn't look right. It had huge bubbles in it, like when you go to tip a big bottle of juice down the sink, I noticed these when he was pouring a glass. Also there was something wrong with the label, I cant remember if it said something different on it but I think it was more like hyroglyphics than words on the label. We both poured the whole bottle in our glasses and I can remember thinking that It was gonna really hurt in the morning. I look down from where we sat and there is what appears to be a skeleton leading an army. He has a big purple cloak on, and he is shouting in genuine surprise at the troops behind him. He is trying to send 4 little mini motorbikes up the stairs to get me and the flatmate but of course, the bikes can't get up the stairs. They are painted funny, like the bullet that used to try to shoot you in super mario is painted on the front. Not exactly like that, but the closest thing I can think of, it's like the bikes had little faces. Woke up, knowing that there was more to this dream but brain is refusing to produce the details.. Just remembered another dream but it is pretty gross! A cat I'd never seen before is in my house and I'm at the top of the stairs watching the little invader approach. It stops every few steps to take a dump and out of it's business crawl these little grasshopper like bugs that are running up stairs to get me. I run into my room to grab some sheets to hit them away with but they are all gone when I turn back round. The cat, it's mess everything is gone Remembered another frag while I was brushing my teeth lol. I was eating some kind of toffee like a worthers original and it totally stuck my teeth together. I tried so hard to open my jaws but couldn't. With one final try I managed to free my teeth but not without pulling out a filling I have in my back tooth!

This is copy pasted from my LJ. An older dream, but one very vivid, and a bit gruesome at the end. As I say in my title, do not read if you are squeamish about animals getting hurt. Dream #1: I'm driving to work and see bunnies on the side of the road. It's day time, and I think it's summer. There's a ton of them laying there and hopping around. I stop and get out. They aren't afraid of me. I go over and sit in the center of them. They are white, with brown ears. I pick up a baby bunny. I pet it and set it down, then I pick up a smaller one and pet that one. I see a big yellow hump in between the bunnies. I squint my eyes at it and it rises and rushes me. I stop it from hitting my chest with my free hand and it bounces back and disappears. It was a baby toy chicken; I remember the black dot eyes and the orange bill. Dream #2 Later, I'm walking down a road in a trailer park. It isn't my park, but another I don't recognize. It's midday and summer. For some reason, I want to find a kitten. A couple strolls by. I can't remember the man, but the woman is older. The woman is holding two tiny puppies, both are white and fluffy, but I don't want to pet them. The woman holds them out to me, but I walk away. The next street over, I find a white cat a little girl is holding. She won't let me touch it. Dream #3 I'm at work and some things happen that I can't remember, but I take a break and go to the bathroom. I change into my Subway shirt and pajama bottoms. Two girls enter and talk about something, but I ignore them. They leave. A man then enters and I think nothing of it. I discover I'm on my period. I walk out and wash my hands. The man is watching me. He's Asian. I wash my hands; there's blood on them. The man says nothing. I leave the bathroom and go outside. It's dark, early morning. A cop is parked near Panera Bread, but he's just sitting there. I have my notebooks with me. They are blue. I go to the grocery store, Hiller's Market (it's a part of the same mall Panera is). A man joins me. He has blond hair and is also carrying notebooks. His are blue as well. We enter and the man says he's going to get us a good seat. I nod and follow. The store is set up backwards. There is a high school there for a write in and I think I can work on my NaNoWriMo novel finally. The students have long tables in the produce section. The tables are covered in newspaper. The students notebooks and the chairs are red. For some reason, this makes me realize they aren't writing for NaNo, but they're there for another reason. I feel sneaky now, and wonder if I'll be caught. Man comes back and says he found us a seat. I go with him and set my notebook on the table. The students ignore us. I'm hungry. I say I want to get something to eat. Man says okay, I'll wait here. I leave and get caramel apple hard candies, fruity hard candies, and a few items I can't remember. I want a drink. I go to the deli counter because they have drinks there. They have a meat case, but the back is set up like a Star Bucks. The tones are gold and brown. There are gifts on shelves. I decide the drink would be too expensive. I never pay for my food. I meet the man again in the aisle. He is worried because he thinks we're not supposed to be here. He makes me worried too. Then I see Hugo from LOST, a younger version. He looks angry and runs off. I know he's telling on us. I say to my friend that we should go. He agrees. Then an announcement breaks over the PA and I know it's Hugo again. He says some things I can't remember, but at the end he curses us with a 'were' curse. Instead of wolves we'll turn into lizards. We leave and my companion runs away. I start walking back to Panera, worried and thinking I need help. Two girls come by and tell me that I hurt her, and it's what I deserve. I have no idea what they are talking about. Dream #4 I'm driving around an apartment complex. It's fancy, and I can't find a parking spot. The sky is overcast and it's daytime. Many spots are open but I don't want them. I finally park on the lawn. Two black men in suits are watching and talking among themselves. They say nothing to me. I go into the complex and to the second floor. There were no stairs. I see a registry in the center of a big room, and a door beyond it. The registry is wooden, and the place to sign your name flips up instead of to the side. The registry's full of black and white vintage photos of women. There's many of one girl in a bikini, different poses. I think she's pretty, but I know she's dead. I take a picture out and I hear a click. The door is open, but I can't find it now. A women enters. She is dressed in a lab coat. She says right this way. I follow her and I'm dressed in a maroon salon gown with white trim. I try to button it in the back, but I could only find one snap. I'm naked underneath. In the lobby, there are two doctors dressed in blue surgery scrubs. They are talking to each other. The woman says to take off all your jewelry. I take off several gold rings, one gold necklace, and gold earrings. The men watch and joke that the boss is "cracking down". The woman wants to take blood, and I follow her to a desk with a weird machine on it. The machine looks like the face of a ounce scale without the gray knob in the middle (I use them at Panera for weighing meat). She says to stay standing as she pokes my finger. I watch as she takes a drop and sets it where the gray knob should be. The dial spins. She seems annoyed with the results, and she wants to take more blood. She says to sit down this time, so I do. She jabs my thumb twice and ends up with too much blood. This time, she seems satisfied. My finger never touches the machine. Then she says that I have to see the grindroom before I can treated. (I think this stems from the last dream about the curse). I say okay, but get a weird feeling. She leads me down a long hall to a room full of bunnies and cats in glass cages. The woman leaves. I think the animals are cute, but I hear a awful grinding sound. There is another woman in an apron; she has cats on the metal table in front of her. The cats are all different colors, but the one that stands out the most is an orange tabby. The woman has a bloody saw in her hand and the cats are squirming. I see a huge pit next to her with whirling blades. The blades are all bloody. I start to cry because I know what she's doing, but I never stop her. Nor do the cats try to fight back. There is no sound at this point. None. She starts cutting them up and throwing them into the pit. I cover my face and run from the room, sobbing. I remember thinking that this was a test, and I didn't know if I had failed or not. I woke up then, and yeah, I was bawling. After I calmed down, I laid there and recollected. Then I got up and wrote it all down. Still a little shaky from the last bit and every time I think about it I want to cry again.

CATS AND OUTCAST The other night in my dream I was watching a performance and it was a mix of CATS and The Liong King but minus the killing. There were three cats on the stage two of them were adult males big cats and they both wanted the throne (so to speak). The third was a girl cub. Her father won the fight and the uncle cat was put into a jail. 5 years pass and the the girl cat now a woman cat fell in love with another male cat. And they were going off to celeberate the marriage and the Woman cat said "I will be with you in a minute". She wanted to unliock the jail so her uncle could be free. But I told her not to because he could jerpozide-sp? her father's ruling and her own ruling beening her father's heiress. The scence than went to a regular bathroom with stalls. There were 3-5 teen girls in the bathroom standing in front of the sink. They heard some crying and on the other side of the stalls there was a teen girl on the floor crying her eyes out. They asked her what was wrong. I think the girl said something about hating beening an outcast and unpopular. Than the 5 girls brought her into their group. I woke up shortly after this.
Note: Having not have accomplished any of my goals from last night, those goals just carried over to tonight aside from the fact Nomad warned of a Templar attack last night and there was no such warning about tonight. Unfortunately, I was not successful in entering a WILD… I was in a city, moving around amongst some buildings. It seemed I was in a neighborhood at the edge of a downtown area as there were both single family homes and a few tall buildings around. I was there with Tigress and MoSh, and we all had large caliber weapons with us. Since I'm not familiar with fire arms I'm not sure exactly what kind of gun I had, but I know there were shotgun shells involved… and another kind of bullet… my knowledge of guns stops with pointing them and pulling the trigger. >.< The reason for the weapons was quickly revealed as zombies came from around a corner and at us. As I said above, I know how to point a gun and shoot. So I did that and fired at the approaching zombies, aiming for the heads. The heads literally exploded as the bullets hit their mark. I found I was actually a better shot than I had realized, so far I hadn't missed a single shot. Tigress, MoSh, and I entered a tall building where we knew there were people trapped on an upper level. We had to fight our way through the building and up the stairwell to the tenth floor where the people were trapped. They had become trapped as they had been trying to escape, but the stairwell was completely blocked by zombies and they hadn't had enough ammunition to even try to get through. The three of us shot our way through the zombies until we got to the tenth floor door, then we went onto the floor. Someone pointed a gun at us, but then showed their obvious relief when they saw we weren't zombies. We told them that the path to the bottom floor was clear of zombies now so they could get out of the building and to the shelter. They quickly left. I wondered if there might be anyone else on the level, and apparently Tigress and MoSh had the same idea because they continued searching. I went with her to cover them and to help them look. Upon opening an office door I saw a man in the corner, crouched there with a clearly wounded leg, he raised his gun reflexively and fired. He saw we weren't zombies at the last minute and pulled the gun to the side, which caused him to shoot a golden retriever lying at his feet. He shot the dog three times before he stopped shooting, then yelled in horror and grief, and started sobbing over the dog. The dog was just injured, not dead, so I went over and healed the dog right away. The man had been bitten by zombies several times, and it was surely only a matter of time before he turned to a zombie. He said he knew that would happen and he wanted to die before he turned. I put a bullet in his brain before we took the dog and continued searching. There were only a couple zombies left wandering around on this level, and we quickly dispatched them. The dog searched out several more survivors in the building before we heard a loud roaring noise from up above. That sounded like our cue to get out of there. The rest of us went back down the stairwell and into the main lobby area. The survivors ran out the door and disappeared into the night, no doubt heading for the shelter, as the crashing sounds from above got louder and closer. The dog had its hackles raised and was snarling menacingly at the elevator door. With a loud crash and a blast of dust and debris a huge creature hit the bottom of the elevator shaft and crawled out… or at least part of it crawled out… this thing was like nothing I have ever seen before, it is really hard to even try to describe it. But as close as I can come, the thing coming out of the elevator shaft was like a long tentacle with a mouth in the end, that mouth was filled with razor sharp teeth, and it was pretty clear that the main mass of the monster was still partially up the elevator shaft… Well, no matter what the whole thing looked like, Tigress, MoSh and I opened all up on the thing with all the firepower we had, I found my gun also fired grenades as I shot the grenades up towards the damaged wall where the main mass of the creature would be. There were many explosions, I wasn't sure who had shot what, and finally there was a huge and messy explosion within the elevator shaft, the thing let out an unearthly screech of pain or anger or both… and then the entire building started to shake. Tigress, MoSh, and I barely got out of the building before it collapsed in a massive cloud of dust and debris. Now the three of us split up to search through the neighborhood for any other survivors. We stayed together for a while because the dog was leading us to everyone who needed help. As we found a few more dogs, we split up to search faster By the time we reached the other end of the neighborhood I alone had rescued 12 people, 15 cats, and 10 dogs. Somehow the cats and dogs knew to stay with me, and the three of us came back to the shelter being followed by all of these people and animals. The golden retriever with us seemed quite pleased with itself at having led us to all of those people and animals. I was petting some of the cats when I noticed everything seemed unstable, I was beginning to consider doing a reality check but I woke up before I could.

A hectic but decent night, lots of small fragments, but some vivid dreams. As well as a dream in which I discuss lucid dreaming. The Ship is Sinking (non-lucid) The dream starts at my Aunt's house. I meet this girl with a strip of purple hair. She seems pretty cool. She is a poet and hands me a folded piece of paper. I read the poem but don't remember it. We walk further and the location turns to a beach. Transition. We are am on a ship but it is sinking. The cabin is filling with water and a shark is repeatedly crashing into the window. Old gramps is there. I haven't seen him in a long time. Eventually the water is too high and we must leave the ship. Gramps goes first to distract the shark. We swim and reach shore. Later I remember an areial view of people surfing over a giant manta ray thing. Notes: I must have had 3 or 4 shark and water disaster dreams. I didn't write them all down because I lost my pen during the night and my journal was open (weird, I had to rc). BroX's Wants to LD (non-lucid) BroX, BroY, and I are playing video games in my room while relatives talk downstairs. BroY is just being really annoying. He is poking us and unplugging controllers and stuff so I beat him up. BroX said he was looking through my dresser for something and found my book on lucid dreaming. We go downstairs and he asks questions. Said he is really freaked out about sleep paralysis. He asks how many Lds I've had and I accurately remember. BroZ is there and said he had only a few. Crazy Women (non-lucid) One of the first dreams of the night. I don't remember the beginning. I exit...somewhere. It is dark and storming outside. A gray car speeds away throwing gravel and dust into the air. Something is wrong. I have been left here. I see some cars but they don't have keys in them. One is a co-workers car. I enter the only house around. This point is real vivid. I see a fireplace and some cats lounging. I pick up the phone and dial (totm!). “This phone is not connected.” it says. “Damn it. I am trapped here by this insane women's house!” End.
This is a dream from last year: Flying Cats I am by a small tree in a meadow near the edge. I am sitting under the tree trying to figure out a rubik's cube but just when I am about to solve it all the colors are all messed up again. I notice a shadow fall on me so I turn around and look into the tree. There is an owl sitting on the branch looking at me. Then it swoops out of the tree and turns into half-cat in midair. As it lands it turns into all cat. The cat comes up and rubs against my legs and I pet it. It is purring. Then another owl jumps out of the tree and turns into a cat and comes over. Pretty soon there are about five owls jumping out of the tree turning into cats and jumping back, turning into owls and landing back in the tree. They keep doing this. As they land they roll around on their backs like happy cats when they get high on catnip. They are like little owl/cat griffins. Another dream from last year: The Story Time Cafe Presents: A Night In the Faerie Kingdom I am with Mieko one late full moon night in a park. I give her one of my magic potions. We share it actually. It is Datura and Mushroom tea I want to show her a little bit of my world, you know? Because she has never known anything out of the ordinary. We walk around and we walk up to a large oak tree. There is a wooden door in the side of the oak tree with a brass knocker on it and a doornob and wrought iron hinges. "Watch this!" I say and I knock on the door. An old elf lady answers the door. She is about four feet tall and wearing a shawl. "Come in, come in!" She says. Mieko seems apprehensive so I smile at her as if to say "It's alright, come on." And we walk in down a spiral staircase. The old lady is very happy to have us there. The stairway opens into a large living room/kitchen. It is dimly lit. She introduces us to her husband who is an old hippie elf. He looks like he had a hard life smoking pot so he decided to retire, relax and smoke pot, you know the kind? He smiles at us but seems too stoned to talk. The wife offers us some cookies (elves make the best cookies) but I politely decline and I give Mieko a look as if to say "don't eat food from this world if you want to come back." The wife says that the cookies used to turn out better when they used wood to burn in the oven, but the park rangers made them switch to gas. I think that is funny that 1. the park rangers even know you guys are here, and 2. They could make you change from wood to gas. Together the husband and wife lead us back to the staircase which goes deeper into the ground. I can see that there is a whole world down there! Or a whole underground city village full of little houses like this. The husband says "Won't you go deeper?" I want to go but Mieko wants to go home and fold laundry. So we don't go. We climb back up the stairs and out the tree trunk and there we are next to the old oak tree again. The breeze blows the branch aside and a beam of moonlight lands on me and when it does, I see that really I am all alone burying a toad under the tree! It is kind of like in the first pirates of the Caribbean movie when the moon shines on the bad pirates you see who they really are: skeletons. But in this case I was really alone burying a toad, not with Mieko! I felt confused like I was having a Datura flashback. Anyway, that lasts for only a second and Mieko and I go into town to a place called "The Story Time Cafe". This is a place parents can bring their children at night with their sleeping bags and pillows and leave them there while the employees read the kids stories all night so the parents can go out. All the parents are going to this concert so we go also. At the concert I wander away from Mieko and run into the old hippie elf! He has some more hippie elf friends with them and they ask me to be in their band! They like the way I play music. I say "Well, I'll have to think about it. I don't think I can make it down underground for practice that often." "That's OK!" said the hippie elf. "We can come up here to practice, but we will have to play shows underground." "Alright!" I say. I run into Mieko again and I tell her about it but she says that I won't have time to be in a band because I have to mow the lawn everyday. Then I am on the stage at the Story Time Cafe telling this to the kids. It was all a story I was telling! I am sitting up in a sleeping bag on stage.
With my DCs on a probationary driving period, it's up to me to play chauffeur. Also, black cats and an upcoming apocalypse. I'm watching a horror movie unfurl through its main character. In this dream, I'm a lonely, middle-aged man who lives in a run-down apartment in the north end of Halifax. I'm taking out the garbage, first thing in the morning, reflecting on the fact that I actually feel happy, for once. I just spent the night with a woman who I really like, and it looks as if the relationship might last. I feel my heart sink when I step outside. The alley is swarming with black cats. I can communicate with a few of them, and they have nothing but bad news about the supernatural elements moving around town. And that's all I remember. *** I'm standing on a rooftop in downtown Halifax, chatting with some of the people who are starting school this year. We talk about the dilapidated, ugly buildings that are most of the school buildings. I say that I actually like them; they're fun to take photographs of. Some of the buildings, I'm pretty sure I explored in previous dreams. One of them is practically abandoned, and you can scavenge a lot of material from the place, if you're looking for it. I offer a girl a ride home, and we drive through (rather confusing) one ways without much incident. The roads are practically empty. Our path continues into a parking garage and up a flight of steps, and I have to shake my head at the absurdity. I reverse, and pull back onto the road. Then I start wondering about the unisex bathrooms in the building, and how great it would be if they were everywhere. *** I'm at the Ixburg swimming pool, swimming away. We have to vacate the pool, though, to make room for the shrimp. Oh, now there's piles of pineapple and shrimp in the pool. I pick up one of the shrimp and eat it raw, not finding anything strange about this, even though I'm a vegetarian. One of my friends looks at me in horror. I wander over to talk to the Corrupt Corporate Executive by the lifeguard station, a woman who is obviously planning something evil. I ask her what's going on, and she candidly tells me that they're trying to bring about the apocalypse. "Oh, well," I say, rolling my eyes. "That's all right, then." She explains that there's actually eight or nine horsemen of the apocalypse, and how the devil, as our culture knows him, is actually one of them. She gestures at a guy with bright red skin and a scraggly beard, with insects crawling all over him. "Is that pestilence?" I ask, looking over at him. "No, that's the devil." "That's not Lucifer." I say incredulously. The woman explains that there are several entities in the known universe who have collectively been referred to as "the devil". The mythology just has us all mixed up. "So, if I decide to kill you all, I won't be inadvertently committing suicide?" "Not at all," the woman replies with a smile. "Okay..." I say awkwardly. "Good to know." Scare Factor: 3.

This is the third dream I had on September 21st, 2009. I am at Lake Whittaker, the trailer park my parents go to every weekend in the summer. The park looks as it did as I remember it when I used to go there regularily with my parents when I was younger. My parents and I are in our old 1986 Westfalia and are parked down the hill, a few lots away from our actual trailer in a lightly forested area. The forest is similar to the one my aunt was dragging me through in the previous dream. Many of the lots surrounding the one we are on are occupied and everyone is inside their trailers or cars because there is a large brown bear on the loose. The creature is going from lot to lot roaring and scratching and shaking the trailers like it is trying to get in. When it comes to our Westfalia my dad tries to put it in reverse and drive away but the bear has no problem grabbing onto the vehical and keeping us in one spot. It shakes the van violently and almost flips it over before losing interest and walking over to another trailer and attacking it. Several men, including my father, sneak out of their vehicles and quietly make their way over to a creak to the left of where we are. There are men handing out semi-automatic weapons to kill the bear. Many people are armed and head back towards the lots where the bear was causing trouble but it is now nowhere in sight. I am relieved because, even though I was scared, I did not want to see one of nature's creature be injured or killed. Some time has passed and the trailer park is still trying to recover from the bear attack. Trailers, vehicles and trees have been badly damaged and many peopler are still trying to clean up their lots and repair the damage done to their property. I am at the park by myself now as my parents and the Westfalia are gone. I am walking from lot to lot looking for large peices of wood, either as fuel for a fire or peices large enough to carve. I come across a lot where a medium sized, grey barked tree has been felled and a man who looks like a young Steve Smith (Red Green) is cutting it into sections. Beside his trailer lot is a cemetary containing small gravestones dating from recent times back to hundreds of years. The graveyard is surrounded by a low iron fence and much of it is covered in autumn leaves that have fallen to the ground. I look around a bit before I start helping the man section the tree but I have a small hatchet while he has a chainsaw. The man's wife, a portly woman with short blond hair lights a coleman stove and cooks up some hotdogs. Many people come to eat but the woman doesn't offer the food freely and people have to pay. Apparently many people in the trailer park are starving because they haven't been able to get their own food because they have been too busy trying to make repairs their lots, or as the case with many of them, for some reason they do not know how to cook. I realize that I myself am very hungry but only have small change on me and cannot afford a hotdog. The dream gets blurry and I cannot remember a bit but there is someone about me freely giving what change I have to the lady, but not getting a hot dog, but not being bothered by it. Because I am starting to stave I decide to go fishing in the lake. I stand on the shore at the boat launch and try to catch some fish, even small crappies because I am so hungry. Three or four people come down to where I am to watch me fish, hoping that I will give them some of my catch. I do catch three small fish and take them back to my trailer to skin and cook, but because I am not the greatest at preparing fish and because they are so small I do not get much meat off of them and what meat I have I give to some of the starving people in the park because they cannot fend for themselves and I feel bad for them. I am starting to feel delerious because of lack of food and manage to capture three or four black cats that I noticed appear around my trailer. I calmly capture them, knock them on the back of the head to kill them (like you would with a fish) and start skinning them like I would a fish. After skinning them and cooking the cats I eat my fill of meat and have enough to share with some other hungry people. In the back of my mind I am appalled at what I have done, but another part of my mind thinks that it was okay to kill and eat the cats because I was starving. I do not feel too upset though at what I have done but I remember wishing that things could have turned out differently. The dream ends there.

This is the first of three dreams I had on September 21st, 2009. Dream starts off with me walking along a country road just outside of my home town of London, Ontario. It is pitch black night and I cannot see anything yet in the dream I am familliar with the area and can find my way in the dark. About half a mile from the city limits is a no-kill cat shelter which sets out live traps to capture stray cats along the highway. It is to these traps that I am heading because in the dream I saw one of them with a cat in it during the daytime and I am going to rescue the cat. It is a Saturday and because the shelter is closed on the weekends the cat will have to stay in the trap until Monday - which I think is cruel and I already have a cat at home so I am confident, and more than happy, to have another cat. And because the traps are so close to the edge of the city, where I live, I can walk to them in a short amount of time. Because it is not too cold of a night I set out wearing only my pajamas and running shoes. When I get to the no-kill shelter (which sits on a small incline next to the hightway) there is a single porch light on the outside which offers a little illumination but otherwise I spend a lot of time having to feel around with my hands because it is so dark. I eventually find the trap I am looking for and rescue the cat. I put the cat into my sleeved t-shirt and tuck it into my pajama bottoms so the cat will not fall out. (I have a cat carrier at home and I do not know why I did not bring it with me). The cat is fairly complacent as it does not fight or scratch me and only wants to stick its head out of the t-shirt neck hole to breathe or look around. I start walking back towards the city but I soon here a car coming and I scramble up the ridge and hide by laying down in a ditch at the top of the ridge. I am afraid that if someone saw me outside along the country road at night that they would call the police and I would get in trouble. The car passes and I continue on my way again. I come across another of the live traps near an overpass and realize that there is another cat in it. I rescue the cat and put it in my shirt and start on my way. Again I can hear a car coming and I hind under the overpass to avoid being seen, though I am eager to get home becuase it has become ackward to carry two cats in my shirt, not because they are fighting me or themselves, but because they both want to stick their heads out of the shirt hole and there is only space for my own neck and one of the cats. I am worried that the cat stuck at the bottom of the shirt will be hurt by the other cat ontop or will suffocate. I hurry on my way and reach the city limits in no time. Unlike in real life, the city urbanized immediately past the city limits sign and there is a small park that covers one block, a gas station and convienience store on the next block, followed by town houses and three storey apartment buildings. After some houses on the fourth block are some more three storet apartments on the fifth block and it is there that I live. Unfortunately outside one of the houses on the fourth block are two guard dogs who live in cages that they can escape from when intruders are present - or to pester people walking along the sidewalk. The dogs, one large and on puppy pitbulls, start chasing me because they can smell the cats, which start to freak out inside my shirt, and I have to run. It starts raining quite hard. I am forced to run past my apartment and too a friend's place because I know they will be home and awake at this time of night and will be able to let me in quickly. It turns out that she is standing on the sidewalk outside of her apartment, in the rain. She quickly lets me inside. I don't know the young woman in real life but in the dream we are good friends. In her apartment I get to see the cats for the first time since being out of the dark and I discover that the bigger one is completely black with yellow eyes like my cat at home while the other is a a smaller, thinner spotted calico with brown eyes. I wait for a while to make sure the dogs are gone then head home. Some how I have acquired another cat which I have to hold in my arms because there is no more room in my shirt. At my apartment I discover that the third cat is another yellow eyed black cat and for some reason I believe that the two black cats I found are related to my cat (Zrinyi) and they are all brothers and sisters. I find some extra food dishes, put them out and fill them with food. I also find another bin to put some extra cat litter in and put that out also. To my surprise the four cats get along very well, even with Zrinyi, who has never been fond of other cats before. I leave my apartment and head back towards my friend's place. It is still raining but it has slowed down and become softer and I am still in my wet pajamas but it doesn't bother me. The sun begins the rise and the sky lightens a little. I walk past a small strip mall and in the parking lot I see the spotted calico cat I found before in the parking lot, but instead of having two brown eyes it seems to have one single green eye in the middle of it's face. Even though it looks like a cyclops I know it is the same cat as before and I wonder who the heck it got out of my apartment. When I first approatch it the cat runs away but all I have to do is crouch down and use soft words to coax it back to me. When I pick it up the cat blinks and its single green eye disappears and the two brown eyes return. I am perplexed for a bit but hurry home because I fear the other cats have escaped like this one did. Thankfully they have not and I put the spotted calico down and it goes over to one of the food dishes and begins munching away happily. I find the three black cats curled up on my bed contentedly sleeping together which adds further credence to my believe that they are all related. Even though it is still raining and not completely daylight yet I set back out with the intent to check the live cat traps again because for some reason I believe that I will find more cats there. This time I take the cat carrier with me but I am still in my pajamas. I try to sneak quickly past the houses with the pitbulls but no-joy. I can hear police car sirens in the backround as the little dog merely barks at me but the bigger on bites me on the hand. I run a bit and the dogs eventually turn back towards their home. It stops raining when I am at the intersection of the convienence store and the small park when I look down to my left and see two police cars parked down the street. I get spooked and turn back but hesitate because I don't want to run into the dogs again. I consider for a moment what to say to the police if they stop me before starting towards the country side again. Suddenly there is a lot of people in the streets as I walk past the small park. I am crossing one road when I city bus comes out of nowhere and nearly misses me. I see a large sign on the edge of the park with a bus schedual on it and go over to see if any buses go down the road where the cat traps are but because none do I start on my way again. I am at the last intersection before the countryside and can hear a car radio playing "We Will Rock You" by Queen and notice that a lot of people on the side walk are singing along. I am crossing the intersection when I see a moving van that has precariously stacked trailers, one on top of the other, seven high. The dream ends there.
Original dream dated June 18, 2008): Had a dream I was in middle school again (and therefore, generally terrified). I stopped in a classroom to have a conversation with Bruce Campbell, who rather than simply being in Spiderman WAS Spiderman. I discovered, to my chagrin, that the lock combination on my locker was the same as the lock on another locker, and that this was a prevalent problem. I went to go and point it out to someone. A group of little assholes had hurt a friend of mine, and they had decided to start messing with me, too, so I actually decided to get even with them. I got into a fight with them and managed to beat the shit out of at least one of them. One of the others was this big, fat girl with a snout like a mole or a shrew that was constantly oozing mucous. She expressed her displeasure at the fact that I'd harmed a friend of hers, and we got into a yelling match about who had started it. Ultimately, it didn't matter, because the gang of kids wouldn't leave me alone, so I got them isolated in a park and took them down one by one. The next dream was also pretty jumbled. I was riding with Mom and my brother to class, and class started at 11:40 (in the dream, I was back in middleschool, again) and I was late, again, but Mom wanted to stop by the beach first. On the way, we discovered that an orange tabby cat had accidentally hitched a ride on the outside of our car. We opened the window and grabbed him and pulled him in. He was very soft and friendly, and I liked him a lot. He behaved as if he were somebody's pet. When we got to the beach, Mom wanted to leave him there because she didn't want a cat in the car, and I said that was cruel because he'd obviously come from somewhere else and was clearly somebody's pet. She said we'd come back for him, but I said he didn't know the area and was bound to wander off (and I didn't believe her, anyway). She left, but for some reason the beach area had been transformed into a jungle kingdom. In any case, I decided to stay with the cat until Mom came back because my reasoning was that the cat's life was more important than one missed day of class. As I wandered through this area, I found a huge tree that also had a throne, and a pelt nailed to it. I took the pelt down and kept wandering. There were wood-and-vine tunnels, like tunnels through a massive tree, and apparently I'd stumbled into the kingdom of some sort of nasty dictator. In any case, I found a snake - a large ball-python - and played with him for a bit. Then I heard a legend about a snake that came out of the throne from a hole in the back of the tree that it was carved out of, so I went to investigate. I found the hole and knocked on the trunk next to it, and the snake slithered out. He was a very pretty snake, very glossy and red and black, and very docile, so I picked him up and draped him over my shoulders and walked along with two snakes and the cat. People were scared of the snake, for some reason. I came to a beach, where three men were planning on crossing, one of them called himself Columbus and they were determined to cross the sea, only all that they had was a lttle dinghy. But some sort of reward was being offered for getting to the other side. I decided to accompany them on their adventure, for some reason, but once we got the boat launched from the beach, the dream sort of faded out. In the next dream I was at an old apartment (from when I was.... in middleschool) and getting ready to go to class. Thankfully, I wasn't actually in middleschool any more - this was like a special event where college grads went and talked to the kids. I was still late, though.
This dream starts off with me as a passenger of a very old fashion car that looks like a vintage Model T without the canopy. The vehicle is severely lop-sided as the front left tire is normal, but the front right axel sports two tiny tires that look like they belong on a wooden pull wagon, not a car. I am in the backseat and the driver of the vehicle is a young woman dressed like a mennonite (in a pale beige dress), minus the bonnet to cover her light brown hair that has been pulled into a tight bun. I have on a grey mennonite dress as well but I think nothing of it in the dream even though I would never be caught dead in a dress in waking life. I know I am looking for something, but I an unable to say what, even when the young mennonite woman offers to help me search. It is for the search of that unknown thing that I have accepted a ride in her oddly designed car. It is daytime and clear and we are somewhere deep in Southwestern Ontario's Mennonite country, as I remember it from childhood. It must of just stopped raining because the road is extremely bumpy and filled with deep muddy pits as well as various debris that looks as though it has been deposited in the middle of the road by a mud flow. I cannot remember asking the driver how we will get around all the debris and mud, though I do recall her saying that the old car was "tough and like a tank" and it could drive over, and through, anything. She proves this point when we come across what looks like a crushed silver sedan sticking out a shallow mud pit. The vintage vehicle seems to struggle a few times, especially with it's two tiny front wheels on the right side, but on the fourth or fifth attempt it is sucessfully able to drive over the crushed sedan. There is a large white farmhouse a head of us in the distance that it sits in a depression in the landscape and is completely surrounded by water. The ground level of the building is no doubt flooded with water. As we drive closer the old vehicle slowly starts to become submerged and I am worried that it will stall, but it is strangely unaffected by the rising water level. The front door of the farmhouse opens as the driver parks the car and gets out. The woman who walks out of the farmhouse looks identical to the driver of the vintage car, only she is a bit taller and more corpulant, and is wearing a pale pink dress. It is obvious to me that they are sisters. The two of them seem completely oblivious to the muddy water that has flooded the entire farm even though it is knee deep. They invite me into their home and allow me to look around at my leisure, but ask that I do not venture into the upper floors. While every room on the ground has been flooded, the water is relatively clean and clear, besides the occasional household object floating in it, unlike the murky and muddy water outside. In great contrast to the simplistic ideals of the mennonite lifestyle each room is decorated, even crammed, with old fashioned household items, knick-knacks, trinkets, oddities, toys and even the random out-of-place modern item, (like a brand new Spider Man plushie I found in a linen closet). Many of the rooms look more like a museum than a living space. One stange thing I notice is that located in several rooms through the house there are three antique bisque dolls that have been tied together. The first group of three are all identical, dressed in earth tone Victorian fashion, blond curly hair and are tied toegther with what looks like twine. The doll on the far left is missing an eye. They are located in one of the first rooms, which I think is a lounge. The second group of three is located in what looks like a guest bedroom. The dolls are all identical looking with pale blue Victorian dresses, light brown hair and are tied together with a thin peice of red silk. The doll on the far left has a large crack down the middle of her face. I find a narrow wooden staircase and sense what I am looking for up there. Before I go up I look through a nearby window and see a vast farmers field that is devoid of water and with large mounds spaced at regular intervals. Whatever is growing in the field is under the large mounds. I hear a faint "meow" and I suddenly realize/remember that I am looking for my cat Zrinyi. I quickly run up to the second floor and find her at the top of the stairs in a yellow cat carrier. There is a room beyond where I find my cat and the heavy wooden door is slightly ajar. I sneak a quick peek and see the last group of three dolls that are tied together. They are in what appears to be an old Victorian style office, sitting on the top shelf of a dark brown book case. The windows of the room have been boarded up and broken lines of light give little illumination to the heavily dusty room. The dolls have black dresses and are tied together with a thick peice of rope. None of the dolls have heads and the one on the far left looks as if it bled when the head was removed, as the white collar of it's dress has been stained red. I hear one of the two sisters downstairs and quickly return to the ground level. I leave Zrinyi where she is and plan to return to get her. Now that I have found what I have been looking for, I am filled with a sense of urgency and desperately want to leave the farmhouse, but I suddenly feel like I am trapped and that I am not going to be allowed to leave. The sisters implore me to come and meet their father and brother. Up until this point I was unaware that there was anyone else in the house other than the two sisters since I had been through all the ground floor rooms and seen no one. In a room that has suddenly appeared near the rear, right side of the house sits two men dressed in modern clothing on a modern sofa, staring at a large screen t.v with blank, glazed expressions on their faces. The sisters are frantically running back and forth trying to attending to every need and want of these men, and are completey ignored for their efforts. The room is heavy with anxiety and fear towards the two men, who have a dominating and meancing presence. I stand in one corner of the room and watch helplessly as the older of the two men (the father, I assume) starts to yell at the younger of the sisters for something, though I cannot remember what. He starts physically assaulting her and I yell at him to stop but he ignores me. Until I call him a "lazy misogynist," that is, then he turns is rage towards me and I flee from the room, but I am not scared and instead laugh, knowing that I struck a nerve and made the violent man react out of his own insecurity. I run towards the narrow wooded stairs where Zrinyi is hidden, but instead I find the older of the two sisters at the bottom of the stairs holding the empty cat carrier. I realize at this point that the farmhouse is no longer flooded with water, but the floors have severe water damage and everything the water touched is now moldy and rotting. The older sister nods her head towards a nearby window and through it I can see the vast field that had the large mounds. It is newly plowed and through it runs hundred of black cats of all shapes and sizes. I think to myself "It's a black cat farm!" and know somehow that the cats had been grown from the field and where what was under the large mounds of dirt. I also realize that it is from my own black cat, Zrinyi, from which the "seeds" for these grown cats had been harvested, though I am not exactly sure how they did it. I demand to know where my cat is but the woman in the pink dress just shrugs. She has a tired and worn look on her face. The dream becomes fuzzy at this point and I do not recall exactly how I found my cat, but I do so at some point, and try to flee from the farmhouse. The two sisters try to stop me but they tell me that they do not really want to, but will face further violence from their father if they do not try. I feel bad for the sisters, but I am tired of the entire place and just want to leave. I push them out of my way and storm out the front door which I first came through, with Zrinyi held tightly in my arms.
