    1. June 25: New Powers

      by , 06-25-2011 at 03:13 PM
This dream starts off with me running up some steps. I feel as if I'm escaping from something, and that becomes true as I'm tackled from behind by some person. Because I fall on my belly, I can't tell who it is that attacked me. I struggle for a bit in an attempt to get away, but I'm hit in the back of the head and I black out. The next time I'm awake, I'm on my back on a gurney and all my clothes are gone. I look around the room. It looks like the inside of a morgue, but has the feeling of a hospital room due to all the machinery and chemicals. When I look down at my arms, I see that I have a couple of these machines hooked up to me, and that one is pumping a thick black liquid into one arm, and the other is pumping a strangely orange looking fluid into the other arm. I can feel the two liquids burn where they enter and as they spread, but I'm too lethargic to do anything about it. When I look to my right side I see a man with long, dark hair in a similar position as me. However, his liquids look a different color and he seems a lot more like he was enjoying the situation. He's awake, and when he notices me looking at him he begins to scream in a very lunatic matter, "Awake! Awake! Awake!"

Two scientists quickly run into the room at his loud screeching, one to my bed and one to his. They both pick up a syringe filled with a radiant green liquid and insert the needle up the insides of our arms. While he accepts it very calmly and drifts into unconsciousness, I panic because of the severe pain it causes and begin screaming myself. It's a short lived one as I quickly black out as well.

This time when I awake, I'm sitting in an auditorium with a group of my classmates. Our principal is walking around the room speaking about something, and then she begins pointing out people to come join her. I end up being one of the six chosen. At first I'm confused as to what's going on, but suddenly I get the urge to want to please someone's wishes and a smile comes across my face and the faces of the other five chosen. One by one we begin demonstrating our powers. When my turn arrives, I begin shifting into a few animals and pick my true display of power to be a medium-sized dragon and kill and devour the first row of students. I can sense that it bodes very well with whoever my masters are. The rest of the students chosen with me show their equally ferocious powers, and then our principal walks back downstage and begins pointing out students once more. These seem more terrified than us, and I realize that I was once in their position. In the earlier part of my dream, I had been chosen to become a weapon and had been escaping from it. However, the fact no longer applied to me, so I stood passively on the stage with my fellow beings and watched as the chosen students were taken out of the room.

As for the rest left behind, we six were allowed to do whatever we wanted. The result was gore and utter chaos and destruction. As we're killing the last of the ones left behind, I wake up from my dream.
    2. Possible Dream Guide and Fragments for June 18 2011

by , 06-19-2011 at 04:07 PM (Sailing the Noosphere)
      1. I'm walking through a sun-speckled woodland on a wide blacktop path, and the way is quite peaceful and warm. Out of the woods comes an oddly attractive figure, a six-armed lizardwoman. She starts to walk beside me and introduces herself as a "mover and shaker" who has time-traveled from close to the end of civilization. As she continues to speak, I realize that she's really rather amoral but is very intelligent, and I'm drawn to her. As we reach the end of the path, I ask her for her name: she smiles and replies, "Fukiyume."

Note: When I woke up, I did some searching on that name. The compound "Fukiyume" is meaningless, adopted only once as a username on an obscure Italian forum. However, both "Fuki" and "Yume" are legitimate Japanese words. "Fuki" refers to a shoot vegetable, and "Yume"... means "dream!" I was certainly unaware of that consciously, but I've seen enough anime (including Ghost Hound) to possibly have it in the subconscious. I'll have to see if this DC appears again.

      2. I'm on the highway entrance ramp near my house, phoning my mom who's in a car on the exit ramp. We're trying to coordinate our Father's Day shopping, with little success.

      3. I'm at the clinic of a smiling doctor whose specialty is urology, waiting for some routine procedure. Across from the waiting lobby is a banner that morphs according to the type of surgery he's performing at the time. Eventually the banner shifts to tell me it's my time, and I go to an operating room that looks like a bathroom from my old house. I'm allowed to select my own anesthesia, and I try for a hypnosis MP3. The one I pick has a very creep female hypnotist, however, and I'm unable to trance as I start to panic about the knife's cut.
    3. Fragments for June 17 2011

by , 06-19-2011 at 04:48 AM (Sailing the Noosphere)
      1. I'm reading the steampunk novel "The Difference Engine" and taking notes in the margins with the pen I use for my dream journal. These concern an idea I have to rewrite the story in America, casting it in a more comical light with plenty of snarky humor. For example, I reference "All About the Benjamins" and make Ben Franklin a cocky womanizer.

      2. I'm in a hospital for some routine test. I notice J. C. from high school with his sister in the waiting room, and I seek to avoid him by ducking down a hallway. I sit at the end of the hall and read a magazine. When I come back to the waiting room, my old friend W. L. is there talking to someone...
    4. Second Child

      by , 06-04-2011 at 09:29 PM
I was laying in a hospital bed. Took me a minute to realize that I was in labor. I was kind of freaking out and T was standing beside me as we were waiting on the Doctor M. I told T that I didn't understand, because I hadn't been to a check up in quite a few months, not to mention, we hadn't even had an ultrasound. We didn't know what it was going to be. He said we hadn't been in because we ran out of insurance. =/

I mentioned to T that I didn't think I was in labor just yet, and that we should wait. Then I realized that my lower back had been aching all day, and said maybe it was going to happen soon. Then doctor came in and delivered my baby. It was a boy. I don't even remember it happening, but I saw him laying in a crib next to my son, W. I didn't even notice that I hadn't named him yet.

The doctor gave me the bill which was so ridiculously high, it was about 1500. Probably more than that IWL. I was upset about it and was trying to figure out how to get some deductions. There was a nurse and my doctor standing in the hall and smoking cigarettes. =/

      Can't remember anymore than that.
    5. 05/23/11 Hospital of Pain

by , 05-24-2011 at 06:34 AM (New Dream Adventures of Raven Knight)
      Hospital of Pain
I am in a strange place, but this doesn't seem strange to me at all. I am in what seems to be a fairly small town, but the town is really creepy. It seems to be daylight, but thick clouds and fog are dimming the light to more of a twilight, making it hard to see very far in front of me. There seem to be things moving in the fog, moving just beyond sight, and the feeling I am getting from those things is ominous. I remember the plans I made to meet MoSh and help him find Sam, he said he saw her in a previous dream, he saw her being held by demons in a hospital from Hell. I look around to find MoSh, though I am not sure if MoSh will be able to meet me there or if he might be dreaming elsewhere. Find the hospital. I look around as best as I can until I find a sign with a hospital symbol on it, and an arrow pointing the way.

I follow the signs to the hospital, which is a very creepy looking place. I go inside and meet up with MoSh in the emergency room waiting area. MoSh says he can feel that Sam is in there, and she is in trouble. I tell him we have to find her. We split up to check the hospital quicker, heading up the stairwells at both ends of the main hallway. The second floor is where I encounter the first enemies. Ugly mutated things that have some humanoid features, but they also seem to have wings and their heads look like something a small child might make out of playdough.

They also have the ability to cling to the ceilings and drop in to attack at the last minute. The other demonic enemies are on the ground, and they are fast. They move on all fours, more like big bugs than people, though it is clear they are walking on hands and feet.

I fight my way through the enemies, making my way through the second floor. MoSh was to check the third floor, I check the fourth, and the fifth floor is the top floor. I find MoSh in one of the rooms on the top level, he has already found Sam, and she is in bad shape. Her skin is extremely pale, hair hanging lifelessly, eyes solid black, and a blank look on her face showing no sign of emotion.

She looks way too zombie-like for my liking. MoSh says it's Sam, and she needs healing. I agree, and we both use healing spells on her. I can hear enemies outside the room, but something had to be done for Sam right away. The healing helps, color comes back to her face, but she still looks very weak. MoSh and I make a plan that I will try to distract the most of the demons while he gets Sam out. I form Witchblade into a sword and kick the room door open. I go out there and start slicing through enemies with the Witchblade, making as much noise as possible. I get lots of attention. I head farther up, emerging on the roof of the hospital. MoSh will be taking Sam down. Enemies come out from all directions, the winged ones are swooping from the sky, the insect ones are climbing up the side of the building and coming from the stairwell. I don't think of the magic song spells I know, but Witchblade seems to be working just fine for cutting the demons into small pieces. I hear a cry of rage or something, and I immediately know they have realized Sam is being taken the other direction. The demons depart in a huge group. I chase after them, picking off as many as I can from the group as it retreats. I continue doing this until I wake up, I hope I got rid of enough of them that MoSh is able to get Sam to safety.

      (Side Notes)

May 19th, 2011 - I will try my best to remember my dream. I am not capable of remembering full things so I can have loads of paragraphs on it, but I can have minor bits and pieces that will help improve my memory and dream recall. These are in no specific order unless I state so.

I remember being in a hotel room and Mom telling me she got me an Agent of some sort and that I was going to meet them in a few days to discuss possible acting gigs. There was a paper with a line I had to practice but I can not remember what it was. I do remember at some point saying “I'll be waking up soon anyways. This is just a dream!” or something along those lines, but I did not become lucid. It then skipped a bit to where I was in some sort of psychiatric hospital ( more like the psyh. ward in a prison.) I think I was originally supposed to be shooting a scene or meeting with some big wigs because of the Agent mom got me previously, but that changed. If I remember correctly, I had a white t-shirt on under some sort of button-up smock of a dark greenish color ( like the strong-hold clothes they make suicidal people wear at the hospital in Concord) and pants made of the same thick material. A guard who was dressed in a uniform that resembled deputies in small country towns (greenish colored) were about with batons/night-sticks. There were two different executions going on but I am not sure if they were jokes or not though I did get the sense in my dream that they were joking. I had to use the bathroom so I headed to the communal one and I remember being in a narrow stall going pee-pee. Some random people were leaving as I went. I started feeling tired in my dream as I usually do when I am close to waking up. A guard with blonde hair twirling a night-stick came in to see why was taking so long. He almost resembled a semi-younger version of Anthony Michael Hall, but a pointier nose like Patrick Wilson's. It took me a couple minutes to wipe myself because I was weak and tired. At that point, another guard – a black one – came in and was about to open the side of the stall but I screamed:

“Don't come in, I'm naked!” As a joke

I flushed the toilet then waltzed out of the stall and yelled “free ballin” . I was fully clothed and magically wearing some sort of black spandex type pants. The black guard left and the other one watched as I washed my hands. I think he made a few cracks about taking too long to rinse my hands and about taking too much paper towels which was when I said I liked to use a lot. I remember talking to him about not remembering much about why I was there and I think he thought I was a tranny because he was talking about something....and motioning to his neck as if I had an adam's apple. I said something like

“Well I can't remember a whole lot due to my accident...” and at that point, we walked down the hall where a few “patients” and a guard were gathered. Someone was wrapped up like a mummy and hanging by their neck. The Guard chopped the persons head off and it rolled to the ground. I remember jumping back and being scared while the guard escorting me continued walking. I had to squeeze between the dead body and patients, then step around the head when a girl screamed “BOO!” and I muttered something like “stop you fucking whore”. I woke up a few minutes later.

Very odd dream indeed. I am really hoping to improve my dream recall and have more vivid dreams because I am really ticked off at the fact that I can only remember small fragments. It's hard describing them that way.
    7. blood and skin test

      by , 05-19-2011 at 11:25 AM
      Good morning, everybody.

      Dream #1

I was in a hospital room with a young man and woman who appeared to be doctors. The woman was blonde and slightly tanned. The man's appearance may have changed, but at least for some time he had long, frizzy-curly hair and a short beard. Both doctors wore long, white lab coats. The woman sat at a desk with a computer. At first I lay on the bed. The whole place felt really cluttered somehow.

I was going to have a blood test and a skin test. I was familiar enough with how people took blood, but I was kind of worried about the skin test. I didn't know how people took skin samples.

The man told me, "It really hurts. And the pain stays with you. Because you have to keep the skin sampler on you for half an hour. And the whole time you have it on, it's just like, 'Aagh! Aagh!'" I thought that if what the man was saying was true, this would really suck. But I wasn't going to be afraid.

The man took my right (?) hand. He took a lime-green, plastic device that looked like a thimble as long as an index finger. He put the base, the open end, against the back of my hand, right where the thumb joint comes into the base of the hand. I knew there was a little, guillotine-blade-shaped metal device inside the thimble.

The man clicked something on the thimble. The blade snapped down and dug into my skin. It hurt a little, but not as much as I'd thought it would. I kept waiting for some kind of delayed effect, like a pain that would get worse and worse. But I just kept having the same kind of dull pain.

Eventually I walked over to the woman, who still sat at the computer. She was going to take my blood. I figured I might as well hang out near her while I waited for her to draw my blood. For some reason, for this entire time, I kept my hand elevated right in front of my face.
    8. First Steps

      by , 05-07-2011 at 02:40 PM
All at once I realized that I was in a dream and had been dreaming for a while, but my memory just started recording. The first thing I thought to do was pinch my nose and attempt to breathe. I was, in fact, dreaming. However the moment that I consciously accepted this my mind tricked me onto a FA.

Unfortunately for it, I knew better after reading and practicing to always RC when I wake up, so I repeated the previous reality check and I could breathe. This time I actually had a moment to take in my surroundings before my mind kicked me out. It was a hospital like setting and I stood up next to the bed I was on which for some reason was my bed and attempted to pull back the curtain. The moment I began to try to take control I was awakened for real, his time into an episode of sleep paralysis.

This time I stayed calm and attempted to drop back into a dream, if I did or not, I'm not sure but I know I did fall back asleep. Later I awoke all of a sudden to the program I had running on my phone telling me to do a RC. The rest of the night was uneventful.
    9. April 24 2011: Zombie rampage

      Non-Lucid

I had this really weird and disturbing dream after watching an episode of Scrubs. I’m going to watch Scrubs more often from now on.

When the dream started I was working in the hospital from Scrubs. A lot of weird stuff I can’t clearly recall was going on for quite some time but then an elderly man came in. He asked some questions to the lady behind the counter and left again. I and a marine (I have no idea where he came from) went outside. We saw him go into the house next to the hospital holding two girls by the hand. I and the marine thought he was up to something and that we should be keeping an eye on him but our boss told us to get back to work.

Then, suddenly there was an explosion. I and the marine ran outside and saw there was a huge crater where the old man’s house was standing before. Out of the crater there climbed some kind of zombie. It slashed himself through some bystanders and ran into the large open area behind the hospital. The marine started pursuing him and I climbed onto the roof because I felt that’d be safer. At some distance from the hospital the zombie found its path obstructed by some bushes. The marine closed in on it but the zombie turned around and lunged at him.

The marine was able to roll to the left just in time but the zombie did wound his leg. I started backing up a little since I worried the zombie would come for me but it turned around and went for the marine again. The marine then grabbed a grenade from his belt and hurled it at the zombie. The zombie exploded and I was flung backwards by the force of the explosion. When I got down from the roof I found the marine at the edge of the crater caused by the grenade, both of his legs severely injured. Some medics came to help him and our boss told him that though he would never walk again he had been of great service to everybody by killing the zombie.

    10. Trying to get to my Operation

by , 04-12-2011 at 11:55 AM (Brainy Vapours)
I am in a hospital for some kind of proceedure, which keeps changing, some sort of operation. I'm walking, on the way to the OR. In the elevator we stop at floor 1. I'm talking to people in the elevator about my proceedure. Because we're so busy talking, I miss my floor. The other people get off the elevator and I try to reach my floor again. I reach my floor and get off to walk down a long hall. At the end of it there is a receptionist, whom I check in with.

    12. 03/28/11 The Shadow Side

by , 03-29-2011 at 12:12 AM (New Dream Adventures of Raven Knight)
      Hogwarts: The Shadow Side
I am at Hogwarts taking a magic class. We have broken up into pairs to do the class exercise, and my partner is Hermione Granger. I am relieved that I didn't get paired with some idiot who is more likely to blow something up than to get the spells to work right. I wait for the instructor to tell us the spell, the teacher looks like one of the teachers from ITT Tech. He says to wave the wand in a certain way and then recites a spell incantation that sounds like a caveman grunting. I'm not sure if I forgot my wand. Great… I am expected to wave a stick I don't have and grunt like a caveman. I find I have my wand after all. Hermione finds instant success with the spell, which I had expected no less. We are transported, and now we are flying high over the countryside around Hogwarts. It is so much fun! Even Hermione finds it thrilling though I thought she was afraid of heights. We fly around for a bit and then head back to Hogwarts. We land outside the castle and go in through a back entrance. The place has changed. It now looks like it hasn't been inhabited for years. Cobwebs everywhere, mold and fungus growing in the dark corners, walls in varying states of decay. Hermione says we must be in the wrong place… The mold is growing like tendrils, the entire scene reminds me of Silent Hill.

We enter a larger area where some walls have collapsed. Creatures worthy of Silent Hill are wandering about. They have eight legs with skin stretched tightly over the oddly misshapen bones, ugly heads that look like what a kobold might look like if it stuck its face in a meat grinder and then let it heal without any assistance… they are hissing loudly and coming at us. Hermione screams and seems a bit paralyzed by panic, I am not so bad off… I use my wand and a fire spell on them, they don't like fire. Hermione also uses fire now, we hold the things off with fire and retreat from the castle. MoSh is outside with some of the other students. Draco is there, looking like he pissed his pants, while Crabb and Goyle are trying to hide their considerable mass behind Draco's smaller form. Harry is blabbering something about Voldermort. Neville doesn't seem worried, he says those things are nothing compared to his gran when she is angry. Ron, having a fear of spiders to begin with, has passed out from fear while a couple students I don't recognize are trying to rouse him. MoSh and I hold the creatures off using fire, Hermione finally gets Harry to shut up about Voldemort and they summon some brooms. We finally get on the brooms and head into the sky, Ron is still unconscious, draped over Harry's broom.

      Hospital: The Shadow Side
I am back working at a data center at a hospital, and I am anything but happy about it. I really want to be working somewhere that has to do with my major. This hospital crap really sucks. I tell my coworker I have to use the bathroom and then I take a break. I stroll past the break room where there are cupcakes left over from an office party earlier. The day shift got treats, we get the leftovers. But cupcakes are good leftovers. I take a couple and stroll around the halls while I eat, I didn’t really need to use the bathroom. I finally get back to the office. My coworker says she thought maybe I'd fallen in and flushed myself. I tell her I tried, but I wasn't able to get down. There is a customer service call, which is my absolutely least favorite part, but this one turns out to not be too bad. I have to deliver a replacement cord to one of the emergency room offices. I take the cord and head over there. I deliver the cord and then I dawdle again on my way back. Kill as much time as I reasonably can. I am going down the last hall towards the data center when all the lights go off. Great, a power outage will mean a whole bunch of customer service calls when the power comes back up. Emergency lights come on. At first I think I am seeing things, but now the hall looks like a hall out of some ancient abandoned building. Broken tiles, cobwebs, dust, mold…

Wtf?! I hear things moving in the shadows. Spiders come from the darkness around me, they are huge spiders, the size of cats. I don't like that… I must have been thinking of DDO, because I shoot fire from my hands and start burning the spiders. They squeal and screech. I head out of the hospital, not sure where to go now. The entire town looks like some dark version of itself. Huge spider creatures are all over the place out there. I wonder what the hell is going on. I use more fire to clear an area inside the hospital of the cat-sized spiders. I look out the window as the huge spiders jump from place to place out there and they seem to be covering the city in a layer of thick sticky webs.

      ITT Tech: The Shadow Side
I am in one of my game design classes at ITT Tech, it is the last day of class for the quarter. I know this is the last day of class, and I am thinking the instructor should just let everyone leave now since all the presentations are done. Instead we are all stuck in the classroom watching videos until the end of class. I am feeling quite tired, and I actually am having problems staying awake. I'm not the only one. I see that several other students have already drifted off to sleep, or at least they look like they're sleeping. Tigress is sitting beside me, and it looks like she is also asleep. I finally let myself drift off to sleep as well, completely ignoring the video that is playing. I wake up a bit later, I still feel sleepy, but at least the videos are over. The instructor says it is time to go home, so everyone should wake up. He doesn't seem to care that everyone has been sleeping. We go outside, and the school doesn't look like ITT Tech. There are several buildings forming around a small courtyard, doors line each of the buildings entering into different classrooms. I look for the hallway to leave the courtyard and I see it. We are all heading in that direction, but there is something wrong. There is a strange vine growing in the center of the courtyard, it is spreading outward at an amazing rate. I look closer and see it is actually more of a fungus or a mold. Where it is spreading, the ground itself is cracking open as if in decay.

Ugly spider things start crawling out of the holes, spiders the size of cats… yuck. The other students scream and scatter in all directions, it seems they aren’t sure where to go even though there is just the one exit from the courtyard. The cracks get larger and now the bigger spider creatures from the earlier dreams climb out of them. Crap… I am heading for the courtyard exit, as is everyone else, Tigress is right there with me. She says the things can jump, but they need to get a running start, so they won't be able to get out of the courtyard. The smaller ones are following us out. Dennis kicks a fat ugly spider to push it back and it explodes in a blast of yuck. Dennis is now covered in spider guts, if possible he is more disgusting than ever. Tigress climbs up to the top of one of the buildings like she was an Assassin from the Assassin's Creed games. I follow her in the same manner. From on top of the building we can see the larger spider creatures down below. They are indeed trapped, and there are now so many of them that they can hardly move. Tigress and I both use fire spells from DDO and set the entire group of the spiders on fire. The things burn quickly, letting out horrible screeching noises as they burn and die. Down below, the other students have all been kicking fat spiders, and they are all covered in yuck. They also stink. They all desperately need to bathe.

My Old House: The Shadow Side
I wake up in bed, and I roll over thinking about the series of three dreams I just had about weird spider monsters and places that reminded me of Silent Hill. I get out of bed and head into the other room. I feel I am at home even though it isn't the house I currently live in. I grab some food in the form of oatmeal. The oatmeal is unsatisfying, it doesn't seem to want to cook properly. I decide to take a walk around the neighborhood. I go outside and walk down the sidewalk for a while, taking a couple of random turns. It is a nice day outside, perfect for a walk. After a few more turns I am having problems placing exactly where I am. Have I gotten lost? How could I get lost in my own neighborhood? No matter, I will just go to one of the main streets and get my bearings there. I reach the corner of the two main streets near the house, Broadway and Camino Seco. There is a shopping area there which I recognize. I look around the shops for a bit, a video game shop, a toy shop, a clothing shop, and a grocery store. Those are the ones I browse through, though I also see a bank and a jewelry shop. The only thing I end up buying is a soda and a Hostess Twinkie from the grocery store so I can have a snack on the way back home. I go to leave the shopping area, now I have my bearings and I can find my way home. Things aren't normal now. There is a gym there, but I hear screams of agony from within. I know I don't like exercise, but that seems to be taking things a bit too far. I go into the gym to see what is going on, and I see there aren't any exercise machines. Instead there are people bound to the walls by what looks like spider web. Spiders about the size of cats are feeding on them, the people are screaming as they are being eaten alive. Spiders come towards me as they spot me entering the room. I use fire spells from DDO and burn the spiders. The entire place catches on fire, killing the spiders and their victims in a blaze of heat. I leave the burning building quickly and I head towards my house. There are even bigger spider creatures outside. I head into the neighborhood, looking for home. I can't remember where I live. Is it on Gollub? No… but I have to follow the street called Gollub to get to the house. The house is on another street called Holmes. There is now a fog forming throughout the neighborhood, it looks more like Silent Hill than ever, I am sticking to the alleyways where the fog is thicker and I can stay hidden from the creatures more effectively.

A couple times I question my tactic when I find myself on top of one of the things before I realize it's there. I am better hidden, but so are they. I reach the alley behind my house and climb over the wall to get into the back yard. I go around the pool and to the back door… which is broken and mostly missing. I go inside and I am looking for my mother and my pets… but I am not finding any of them. I wonder if they are gone… I end up in the carport where I find that the car is gone, so I figure they must have gotten away already. There are several dead cat-sized spiders in the driveway that were clearly driven over by the car.
    13. The Flooded Nursery

by , 03-14-2011 at 05:52 PM (Soups Dreams)

I got this vivid dream, after my alarm sounded and I went back to sleep because I still had some time before I had to go to college.

In the dream I immediately woke up again, and panicked when I saw the time. 1 pm! My class was starting right at that moment! I had to be in college and it's a 1,5 hour trip to get there. I texted some classmates I was going to be quite late.
To my disbelieve, the moment I stepped out the door, rain came pouring down like a true tropical storm.
I asked my dad to drive me to the train station, but he refused. At that moment I decided to stay home and call in sick. But before I could do that-after a scene I can't remember- I was suddenly outside, and the sun had already set.

This last, short part is a lot more interesting, weird and vivid.
I found myself outside, alone in the rain, in the dark, and I was only wearing boxers for some reason. I didn’t mind being half naked. Even though I was soaking wet, it wasn’t cold and there was no-one in sight. I ran down the street in which water was gushing down trough. After a short while I arrived at a weird looking building. It was quite modern and had a big glass wall near the entrance. From ouside you could see the big hall and some stairs along the sides. Some kids in nothing but blue plastic raincoats where walking up and down the stairs. The kids walking around at this late hour seemed to be boys around the age of 6-8. One boy in particular caught my eye. He was standing next to the door and staring right at me with his hands up against the glass.
Suddenly I got cold and I decided to take shelter from the rain in the building which had already intrigued me. It had an eerie feel to it. I thought it was some kind of nursery/day-care because of all the children, but there clearly where no supervisors around. I entered the strange building which also had a sort of hospital-feel surrounding it.

The place was flooded by the rain. The water was ankle-deep and the lights in the floor made it look quite pretty. The boys walking up and down the stairs didn’t pay me any attention and kept walking as if hypnotized. Only the boy by the door noticed me and kept staring. It wasn’t creepy, I was in awe of the place. It looked abandoned but still had something serene about it. I walked through the water, opened the door immediately to my right. It led to the toilet, a big bathroom with 3 stalls and a door at the other end. The place was not as well-lit as the hall, and a tiny bit creepy. The wall separating this room from the hall was made out of glass as well. I could see the boy staring at me again, trough the wall, his hands up against the glass. I turned to my right, towards the outer wall. There was a sink, with a mirror above it.
At that point I remembered the reality-check technique for lucid dreaming vaguely. I started wondering if I was dreaming and looked into the mirror. I can’t remember anything weird. Aside from the fact of being half-naked in a flooded, dark day-care, I looked quite normal. The technique didn’t work. I looked away, and into the mirror again. Nothing.

I looked away, to my left, for a second time. A little girl startled me. She wasn’t there a second ago, and was now standing right beside me. She looked up at me and had the weirdest of smiles. She was a bit older than the boys, probably around the age of 13-14. Unlike the boys in the hall, she was wearing normal clothes. Behind her, I could see the door at the other end of the bathroom. It was cracked open and golden light shined trough it, reflecting in the water.
I turned around and noticed every child was now staring at me, not just the boy at the entrance.
I got creeped out a little (though not a whole lot, considering the situation) and woke up soon after.

    14. Driving Difficulties and Quest in an Abandoned Hospital

by , 03-10-2011 at 08:36 PM (Nocturn Core (Abridged))
The dream began with me driving home in Texas, reportedly from my job. My parents still lived in their old house, so that was the neighborhood I went to. All of the stores in the small shopping center clustered around the Subway were gone. In their place was a huge supermarket. The parking lot was a mess of broken slabs of concrete. I went into the store, and Nicole called me. I could hear the cast of Glee in the background; she was watching it while talking to me. Just from the actors’ voices, I was able to reconstruct the episode in visual form in my head. I laughed when Will suddenly swept Emma off her feet in a rare moment of manliness. She giggled and pleaded with him to let her down. When he did, she calmed down a bit.

“What was that?” she asked. “Some kind of… fatherly instinct, Will?”

“I’m gonna beat my children…” He said it so calmly, so unabashedly! It was almost as though this was supposed to sound romantic. I cracked up laughing. The show went to a commercial break without a comment from anyone else. Nicole didn’t think it was funny at all, but I was enjoying the chance to see how pathological Will’s perception of life had become over the course of the show. I grabbed a can of pasta off a shelf and waved it around in the air as I joked with Nicole about how that was the best line in the whole episode. The can was covered in something sticky like orange juice, so I switched it with another one. I went straight to the checkout. I guess pasta was all I needed… A plump, black woman waved me over to her register. She swiftly processed my single item. When she printed a receipt for me to sign, I just wrote my first name. I carried my one grocery item in a bag back to my car. Instead of getting in the driver’s seat, I climbed into the back of the car… The air conditioning turned on as soon as I closed the door.

“I’m so glad it does that,” I murmured to myself in relief. It was a warm, humid night in Texas. I wondered briefly how it was possible for my car to do that, but I didn’t worry too much about it. I locked the door. I didn’t want to get mugged. Only then did I lean into the front of the car and turn it on. I quickly flipped on my lights and popped the car into drive, then spun around to the only exit onto the road I could see. My side of the exit was horribly ruined; huge slabs of concrete blocked the way. I swerved around it and angled the wheels so I could easily turn that way. I made a right onto the street once it was clear. Basically, the street was divided by a huge median with trees growing all over it, so in order to get to the correct side of the street, I had to make a U-turn about thirty yards down the road. I must note that this U-turn was impossibly tight; my car pivoted around the narrow, three foot wide tip of the median without any difficulties. I found myself in a turn-only lane going left and had to switch. Then I saw a yellow light.

Yellow, I thought. Yellow, yellow, yell – oh! I realized I was supposed to stop at the intersection up ahead! The light turned red, but I was still going too fast. I slid right into the middle of the intersection. Oops. I figured it was better to just keep going, so I put my foot back down on the accelerator. Almost as soon as I passed through the intersection, I saw a cop coming the other way. I was horrified. He must’ve seen me – how could he not? I knew he would pull me over as soon as he could turn around. I had to act swiftly. In order to evade the police, I planned to take an unusual route back home. I turned left onto a small street, disappearing from the main road before the cop could find me. This road bisected another in a place that looked like the suburbs of Chicago. I started talking to Ben on the phone. I didn’t have to hold it up… I could just hear his voice. This is probably a fortunate side-effect of using headphones when I’m on the phone lately. Anyway, Ben complained that it was snowing in Australia, but we somehow determined that it was actually raining because it was forty degrees in Brisbane. Ben pretended to be confused about the temperature. He said it was 40 to 100 degrees outside – first in Fahrenheit, but then in Centigrade. That didn’t sound right at all. If he was using the Celsius scale, much of that range would be intolerable, even lethal. I turned onto the next street. Traffic lights and driving in general were beginning to pose crippling difficulties. I couldn’t focus my eyes properly on the lights, and some kind of weird, yellow dot appeared in my field of vision to direct the car. On top of keeping the wheel straight, I had to keep this light in the middle of my perspective with my mind in order to keep the car going straight. Anytime I looked away from the middle of the road, the car turned in that direction. The only way to counter it was to turn the wheel in the opposite direction at the same time. As one can imagine, this wasn’t easy. It was incredibly difficult for me to multitask in this dream on top of everything else, so it’s no surprise that I went through three red lights in succession before finally stopping.

Ben explained that he needed help with a quest. The road took me along the edge of a massive, red curtain – the kind used in theaters. I knew there was an abandoned hospital inside. Ben needed to get into the hospital and retrieve something. I stopped the car, got out, and slipped under the heavy curtain. The hospital was dark, and many of the doors and windows were boarded up. Ben transformed into Goofy (Mickey Mouse). He started going to the main entrance, but I insisted that I knew which entrance was the right one to use. I had done this quest before, I said. Actually, I was just attempting it for the first time – but with Ben’s help, I knew we would be fine. We circled around the building to a small back door. Inside, we found two elevators and a door to a stairwell. The stairs were the obvious choice… The building probably wouldn’t have any electrical power to spare, considering the state it was in. Despite that, Ben went for the first elevator.

“I don’t think that’s going to work…” I said. He pushed a button. The elevator dinged at us as it opened. Nervously, I followed him in. “What if we get stuck in here? This is a bad idea… I hate elevators.” The door slowly closed. Ben picked a floor, and the elevator began to drop. The walls were made of mirrors. Staring at reflections of reflections of myself wasn’t helping my sanity. Ben apologized for choosing the elevator; he hadn’t intended to disturb me. We would take the stairs back up, he promised. When the elevator stopped, I stumbled out. Moving was difficult down here for some reason… Ben didn’t have any trouble, though. We were inside a small Minecraft level. The path curved around a pit of sharks before coming to a slide. I almost slid straight down, but there was a lava pit at the bottom! That would have meant my death. I had diamonds and quite a bit of iron in my inventory, so I was glad I hadn’t fallen. I had to slip into a tunnel on one side of the slide. I found it difficult to make any progress… I got my legs in the tunnel, but the rest of my wouldn’t move at a normal speed.

Ben started arguing with another guy in the room with the shark pit. The guy said that the official Minecraft system made dirt grow infinitely high over time, simulating growing grass. Anyone who still played the old Minecraft was in denial, he claimed. Ben made jokes about dirt reproducing like guinea pigs as he hopped across the shark pit. He ran past me into the tunnel. I followed him as a point of awareness as he jumped skillfully across a couple pools of lava, then trudged right through a tunnel half full with lava without taking any damage. I thought he was doing this because he had food to heal himself afterward, but I realized after he emerged that he was wearing chain mail. He was invincible! He came across some kind of harpy woman and didn’t realize she was an enemy for a few moments as she slapped him with her wings. He killed her in a few seconds.

My awareness returned to my body, and I followed after Ben. Since I didn’t have anything to protect me from the lava, I planned to build a path through it. When I got to the tunnel of lava Ben traversed before, however, I saw that it was just steaming water. I figured I would probably be okay… I waded to the other side without taking any damage. A puddle of water on the ground just past the tunnel (where Ben encountered the harpy before) took the shape of a woman. It was a water elemental. I struck her with a bolt of lightning, but the damage was paltry. She was resistant to magic, being a creature of magic herself. I knew cutting her wasn’t going to do me any good. What did I do in the past when I encountered these, I wondered? I vaguely remembered running. I considered calling Ben for help, but he was way ahead by now.
    15. Minecraft, Piracy, and a Mental Hospital

by , 03-06-2011 at 08:07 PM (Nocturn Core (Abridged))
Nicole and I were playing on a Minecraft server together. We ventured into an unexplored area and found some strange, circular platforms floating in the ocean. They looked like targets. Assuming the administrator had plans for these, I decided building on them was pointless; the buildings would just get destroyed. We walked back in the other direction, and I found an old cabin I had built previously to survive a night. I decided I would stay there until morning. I was glad I found it when I did since skeletons were already patrolling behind it. I looked around the cabin and quickly discovered the basement. I couldn’t remember why I abandoned the cabin… Until I saw the creepers hiding in the basement, that is. There were at least seven of them, and they all noticed me. Only one jumped up to the ground level, though. I backed into a corner to try to force it to blow up where the damage would be minimal. I knew I couldn’t fight a creeper in this small space. Unfortunately, the creeper knocked out nine blocks on the south wall, exposing me to roaming zombies! The open space was three blocks high, so I quickly placed a line of wood across the middle to keep the zombies and creepers at bay. This didn’t protect me from skeletons or spiders, though. I tried to find materials to use without going into the basement. I tried typing “/give Nephanim diamonds” to see if I had operator rights on the server for whatever reason. The dream didn’t seem to care that I typed the command incorrectly. As I worried that someone would see the request for items and complain that I was cheating, I got a red error message back from the server. It said that I had received a warning from the staff, and the item request had been denied. Boo… I decided to brave the basement for some dirt. To my surprise, it was now empty. Dirt was better than nothing… I don’t know why I had thought to put diamond blocks up instead of something less valuable. Anyway, while I was down there, I found these long, skinny lego blocks and put them together to form a red and yellow striped wall. It still wasn’t wide enough. The corners of the hole were still open, and skeletons were shooting me. I saw that my health was empty. I was alive, but not for long. Another arrow hit, and my items burst from my body. Apparently, my spawn point was close tot he cabin even though I expected to have to run across the island. I carefully returned to the building, collected my belongings, and went on my way.

I met up with Nicole again, and we found a water purification plant beside a street. We filled buckets with water from the clean end and sampled it. The water was horrible… On top of that, we were stealing it. We laughed about all of this as we roamed some more. We found a car, I guess… Some people called Nicole and told her to pick things up from Chick-fil-A. We went there, but we didn’t buy anything for these people. Nicole spent $14 on something applicable to her diet. I saw that $5 of it went toward adding extra bacon. That plus my food and two drinks came out to $21.45. I misheard the amount, so I only pulled out a $20 bill. The drive-through was reversed as if we were in Europe, so I had to pay. To my immense surprise, when we pulled up to the window, the cashier handed us $21.45 instead of taking our money. Speechless, I put the money away. She passed our food over and closed the window. As Nicole drove off, we argued about what just happened. Nicole seemed to think she had gone to the wrong service window, but there was only one.

“They just paid us to take their food,” I said. “That’s all there is to it. It’s not really stealing if they don’t ask you for money… They didn’t ask you to pay when you ordered, right?” Of course not – the woman just said the total was $21.45. It really was our lucky day! Free water, free food, free money! As we continued driving, I became aware of another reality overlapping with this one. I was on a modern pirate ship as we sailed away from the coast. The farther away we went, the more I worried about dying and being too far away to retrieve my belongings. I remembered that I could set up to ten warp points, though, so I kept resetting one warp point as we continued south of the shore. My crew mates discovered stitches on my arms just below the elbow. I explained that I cut them off in order to switch my arms with Nicole’s. I would probably have scars for the rest of my life. For some reason, my crew decided this was traitorous, so they dragged me toward the back of the boat. I was shoved overboard. As I flailed in the ocean, I returned to my former reality. I was in the same car, but my mom was driving instead of Nicole. Nicole and I moved from the middle seats to the back and sprawled out on top of a bunch of Chelsea’s stuffed animals. I kept lulling Nicole into sleep so I could carry her. It worked. She almost fell into a sea of stuffed animals behind the seat, but I caught her.

Meanwhile, I swam back to the ship in the pirate reality. I don’t know why I bothered to go back there, but it was the only place I knew to go. Once I was safe, I switched realities again. Nicole stirred. She looked like she had lost all sense of time and place. She wasn’t wearing a shirt, either. I told her about the overlapping realities. She seemed impressed. I tried to have my way with her, but she refused. I kept asking until she suggested something else. She turned me into a child and herself into a babysitter (although we were like small action figures instead of people). We were going to roleplay. While we entangled ourselves together under a thin blanket, I began to wonder where we were going. We had been driving in one direction for a while. I looked at my mom beyond the shadows of the blanket. She made eye contact with me in the rear view mirror. I saw an infinite stretch of interconnected highways in front of us. There were street signs all over the place, and no matter how far we drove, the dream was always able to fill in the space with the same amount of detail. It could continue indefinitely, I realized. We were in a dream. If nothing changed, my mom would keep driving forever! I tried to use my intent to bring us to WritersCube’s canvas void by car so could get out and try teleporting to his Monolith Gardens dreamscape. I didn’t want to bring the car along. Strangely, I lost some time here… That doesn’t happen very often. The next scene I remember was non-lucid, but there wasn’t a rough jump in the dream like there usually is.

I sensed that a police car would pull up beside us on the highway soon. I was lying across the area behind the back seat with all of Chelsea’s stuffed animals. I knew this wasn’t legal – for one, I didn’t have a seat belt on – so I tried to keep still to avoid drawing attention to myself. Sure enough, a cop car merged onto the highway right beside us. My mom ordered me to come sit in the middle seats once we passed the patrol car. She explained where we were going at last: to a mental hospital. I understood immediately that I had been tricked. I grasped at fleeting questions in my head, but I didn’t know how to respond. I would be kept in solitary confinement for my own good, she said.

“This will keep you from polluting your mind on the computer all day,” my mom continued. “Think of it like this: you’re decontaminating your mind and body until you can function like a normal person in society. You don’t need all that bacteria.” I wasn’t sure I agreed (if I even understood what she meant). It didn’t occur to me that I was free to say no. Rather, I wondered how I would finish school… We pulled onto the side of the road beneath an overpass where a bunch of other cars were parked. My mom and dad got out of the car (when did my dad show up?!) and started moving luggage to a man sitting on a white couch. My dad put all of Chelsea’s stuffed animals in a suitcase.

“Do you really need all of this?” he asked me.

“Those are Chelsea’s, not mine. Ask her.” I looked over and saw that the guy on the couch hand his hand on a zipper. I thought he was opening a suitcase to see what was inside. “Don’t screw with my stuff!” I yelled. Everyone stared at me, clearly prepared for me to attack one of them. I realized the guy was just zipping up a compartment in the bag that had been open. “Sorry. I thought you were going through my stuff.”

“Don’t you want these gloves?” my dad asked, showing me a pair of new winter gloves. I saw an old pair of gloves on top of one of my suitcases. “Those old gloves are falling apart… These are flame-resistant, too, so they won’t burn in the summer.” I quietly accepted the gloves. I still felt awkward because of my previous outburst. I walked over to a woman sitting in a chair. She had a computer monitor for a head. She asked if I had any questions about the hospital.

“Yeah, will I have internet access…?” I asked. No response. “Because… Well, that’s how I keep in touch with people… And I keep a dream journal online.” At least one good thing came of this, I realized. I would be able to devote most of my energy to dreaming. I had argued briefly with my mom about this in the car, but the more I thought about it, the less I felt like struggling. If everyone felt I belonged in a mental hospital, I wasn’t going to fight it… The computer woman still didn’t respond to my question, though! I scrolled through a list of frequently asked questions on her screen. It seemed the hospital made every effort to provide patients with internet access, so I was basically content. An IRC window popped up. I saw “Tande” at the top of the chat and thought Kelsey was running the hospital until I scrolled down and saw Nicole’s IRC username in the user list, too. “Oh… IRC just recognized me as Elita.” I closed the chat and walked away from the computer woman.

I heard a girl screaming behind a closed door. When I opened it, I saw a large rat jumping around in a garage. The girl was terrified of it. I grabbed a broom and said I would save her, but I had to wait for the rat to move away from the door so it wouldn’t see me. The rat chased her into the corner. Then, it came back toward me. I slammed the broom down on its back, pinning it to the ground. If I could just hold it there, I could kill it with something… It was a perfect hit, but this rat was tough; a broom wasn’t enough to bash the life out of it. The rat squirmed free of the broom. It went straight to its attacker, jumping onto my chest and sinking its teeth through my clothes. I swatted at it. As I awakened, I sat up frantically in bed to get away from the dream rat. I did this twice before I realized I was in a different reality.
