    1. Field of Lucid Dreams

      by , 03-02-2011 at 11:05 PM
The following is my first ever experience with achieving lucidity while dreaming. This occurred only last night and was very brief.

      Tuesday, March 1, 2011

I awake (within my dream) face down in a green, overgrown field. Upon sitting up I realize that the field contains grass about 6 to 8 inches high in some areas, interspersed with small, purple flowers and is clearly not well-maintained. As I look about, I mutter to myself “I am dreaming” and suddenly realize that I am in fact dreaming and have attained lucidity for the first time ever.

I distinctly remember lying down in my bed and closing my eyes and waking up in this field. I mutter again “I am dreaming.” I look about me; off in the distance is a small shed of the type one might store gardening tools. The shed appears to have been overcome with the encroaching grass and other flora and is in a sorry state of disrepair.
In an attempt to objectively test and confirm my hypothesis that I am dreaming, I study my hands (not my normal reality check, which I do not know why I failed to perform). As I focus on my hands, I notice two things: first, my wedding band on my left hand is now on my left index finger instead of my left ring finger; second, as I focus on my hand the entire world around it goes completely out of focus to the extent that my hand appears crystal clear but all around it the green of the grass and the purple of the flowers dissolve into a green and purple jumbled mess of paint-like splatterings.

Next I check one of the purples flowers closest to me. I bend down with the flower about an inch from the tip of my nose and focus intently on it. Like my hand before it, the flower, and especially its outline, appear crystal clear (I can even make out small yellow clusters within the flower’s petals), so clear as to appear sharp. As before, the green of the grass around the flower blurs out into a mess of green paint splatters.

I stand up and notice that right next to where I awoke in this field is a litter of machine-like parts, covered in moss and overgrown grass. In an attempt to wield god-like powers about which I have read in connection with lucid states of dreaming, I attempt to move on of the machine pieces with my mind. I focused on the single piece of non-descript machinery and imagine it levitating slightly and moving to my right, but nothing happens. Frustrated, I hold my right hand out at the piece of machinery and concentrate harder, pretending to grasp the part with my outstretched hand. I push my hand to the right in an attempt to move the part, but nothing at all happens.

I become incredibly frustrated. I can hear a loud rumbling that then begins to sound like harsh breathing, then snoring. I looked about the field and said aloud “Penny is snoring” (Penny is my dog who sleeps next to me on my bed).

My eyes opened and I was in my bed with my dog lying beside me, snoring, just as I had heard it, what seemed like only a moment before and in another place. I perform my normal reality check and confirm that I am now awake and no longer dreaming.

    2. Dreams from the past two nights

by , 03-02-2011 at 06:37 PM (The Lab Notebook)
Non-lucid, Semi-lucid, [Commentary made while awake]

      Night of February 28 - March 1

Some restaurant is having some kind of promotion where you can enter a code into an ATM and get money out. I walk out of the restaurant and across a parking lot to get to the ATM. I'm dressed in my pajamas, robe, and slippers, and am glad I'm wearing my rubber-soled slippers, because the parking lot is wet because it has just rained. I get to the ATM, enter my code, and receive a $5 bill, then a $1 bill, then a bonus $5 bill. There's also some loose change in a change dispenser on the [extremely strange-looking] ATM, and I start taking some of it for myself, but it occurs to me that I shouldn't take all of it, because that would be greedy.

      Night of March 1 - 2

I'm playing PackRat and find several sets of 10 tickets by flipping over cards.

My mom is driving on a main road through an unfamiliar town, and I'm in the back seat. She's trying to find her way to someplace, but she's obviously lost. We turn left onto a residential street. Finally, I ask her for the TomTom, and she hands it to me. It's getting dark out, and I can't see the device's screen very well, so I reach up to the ceiling of the car to turn on the overhead lights. They turn on for a second, then fade away. Pressing them again does nothing.
[I laughed out loud when I recalled this upon waking up and realized what I'd done. Once again, dream sign fail!] I complain to my mom that I keep pressing the wrong buttons when trying to enter the address of the place we're going to, because it's getting dark, the TomTom doesn't emit enough of its own light, and now our dome lights don't work. After a few minutes, though, when it's gotten fully dark outside, the buttons light up in bright red and white, so that I can see each letter and number clearly. [The TomTom doesn't do that in real life; my cell phone does.]

I walk into the bedroom I stayed in when I was living in Kentucky. [It didn't look much like that bedroom actually looked, but the bed was the same, I think.] I remark to whoever else is in the room with me, “I haven't been here in a while. It's the same. This is a good thing.” When I say that, I'm remembering dreaming about this place before [although I don't remember doing so now]. I get into the bed, and the two cats who live in the house jump up onto it and start walking all over me. I just lie there, quietly appreciating my mind's ability to generate the totally realistic but imaginary sensations of cats walking on me and the tips of their tails tickling my face. [No, I don't own any cats in real life, but there really were two cats in the house in Kentucky.] Even though I know that this is just a dream, I never make the logical leap from that fact to “I can go off and do whatever I want!” and never become fully lucid. [I'm still counting this as a lucid dream, though.]

    3. Practicing Focus and Specific Recall

by , 03-02-2011 at 06:10 PM (Nocturn Core (Abridged))
I found myself in what I knew to be a fleeting dream in between states of wakefulness. I was about to get out of bed and write down my dreams, but then I saw what looked like a can of coffee grounds on my mattress. A picture of Santa Claus was in the middle. There was writing above and below the image, but I knew the dream wouldn’t last long enough to read all of it, so I focused on the bottom and committed it to memory. I would only have to remember it for about thirty seconds to record it in my journal.

“And so, only one thing is for certain. My angry colony will become bad if something were to happen.” I understood that this was a threat from Santa Claus to the United States. He was raising an army of ants to attack us. As predicted, I woke up right away.

    4. Awesome guitar and King of a kingdom. Ruled with Rock.

by , 03-02-2011 at 06:06 PM (High Quality Head Movies)
I had a dream last night that I was in a kingdom. The kingdom was surrounded by empty space and if you walked off the edge, you would fall into nothingness.

I first remember being a person of royal blood in the castle but I'm not sure how or to whom. For some reason there was a queen who would decide who would be king and she was going to pick this one guy who was well known in the kingdom (I was not, I had no attention from others). I went into a room with the man and the queen and before she picked him, she picked me. After that, I never saw her again in the dream, but I was given the status of king. The other man was now general and left the kingdom to fight our enemies which I heard were Orcs but I never saw any. My subjects never payed any attention to me despite the fact that I was king.

I later found a guitar that was given to me because I was now king. It had guitar hero buttons at the top (5 buttons: green red yellow blue, orange was not there) that all lit up when I pressed them (Idk why, I haven't played much guitar hero since I got a real guitar 3 years ago). The guitar had a shiny black neck, sparkling red body, and the strings on it only went from the 15th fret to the 23rd fret, the rest of the guitar neck had no strings or frets, only the 5 guitar hero buttons at the top and the strings at the bottom 9 frets. There was an amp that was an ordinary amp. It was black and about 2 feet tall and 2 feet wide. I was excited about my new guitar and amp and started playing. I could only make higher pitched notes so basically all I did was fast solos. Random people in the kingdom started liking me and enjoyed my presence.

Looked like this kinda except with the guitar hero buttons I mentioned earlier and the frets.

I brought the guitar with me on my back everywhere I went. People started doing anything I said and if I wanted someone to come to me for aid with something, I would play and they would come. I am not that good at playing a guitar in real life but when I thought of a guitar solo sound in my head, my fingers played it. In the kingdom I walked around for many hours playing guitar and talking to people.

I remember one of the craziest parts of my dream was when on the side of the castle, there was a bus/RV that had about 10 people on top playing drums and trumpets and guitars and singing (it looked just like the intro to rock band 1 when they were all on the bus. I grabbed my guitar and amp and hooked it up and ran to the top of the RV and started playing with them but they all stopped and stared in amazement. I enjoyed all this fun in my kingdom but then it came to a halt.

There was a new enemy, my friend Jon who wanted me removed from the kingdom (he is one of my good friends so idk why he was the bad guy). He started making disasters in the kingdom like fires and he lied to people about me. He soon had control over all the guards and most of the people and some of whom were good friends of mine. I had 3 friends that didn't betray me who were not real people I know in real life just dream projections. I was arrested and taken to a room of the castle that had no ceiling and high castle stone walls around me with a gate. I heard an evil voice over the intercom say that I was going to be out of their way soon. I was very depressed. My kingdom was taken from me, my guitar and amp were taken, nobody believed me or trusted me, and I hadn't heard from my 3 friends for a long time. I then ran to the gate and saw another subject that used to like me and he told me to get back traitor! I told him the story of how I was being set-up and he said he still doesn't believe me. I then said, "Trust me". He then said okay I will and opened the gate. From then on anytime I told someone to trust me they did. I ran through the castle and encountered 2 more guards who I told to trust me and they did. I knew I had to get to my guitar and amp. I got to a room near the RV (the last place I remembered playing the guitar) and grabbed it in a hurry. I heard guards coming and knew I had to get away.

I ran outside and saw the RV along with the 3 friends I saw before. I started climbing up the RV and saw the guards in the distance coming through the hallways of the castle. I told my friends, hurry! Plug in the amp! They were setting up the amp when a guard grabbed my ankle just when I got to the top of the RV. He said, "you are under arrest for crimes against our kingdom!" I told him I did nothing wrong and I was innocent and then told him to trust me and he did and let go. I climbed up onto the RV and started playing as the guards started surrounding the RV. I could see Jon's face on a TV screen above the castle and he had been watching me the whole time with an evil grin until that moment. He looked at me with shock when I started my guitar soloing. Everyone stopped and stared in awe. I was back. I then told them that I was set-up by Jon and this was all a lie. They then were happy for my return to the throne and I climbed down from the RV and went into the castle to see Jon.

He was sitting on a couch in a small room watching a TV screen with a security camera view on it. He was throwing a temper tantrum and shouting "its not fair!" over and over like villains do on TV. I decided it would be fun to ride on the RV again and play guitar and shouted hey everyone, lets go back to the RV! Everyone followed (except Jon) and I climbed up on top and got ready. I saw my dad near the amp plug and told him to plug my amp into an electrical outlet on the side of the RV. He grabbed the cord and started going to the outlet and then I heard the sound of a fan (my portable heater in my room) and everything started getting brighter slowly. I knew in that moment I was waking up. I shouted to everyone that I was leaving and that I would most likely not be coming back. They all waved bye and I slowly woke up.

So much adventurous detail I can't remember was in there on the part where I was running through the halls looking for my guitar but I do not remember much of it. I had realized I was dreaming a few times and was lucid a handful of times but it lasted for 5 seconds each time and I don't remember those parts very well. (I know, I know, too much colorful text )
    5. Misadventures of Batman and Robin and other fragments

      by , 03-02-2011 at 05:46 PM
      1. Something about a truck full of macaroni and cheese.

      2. One of my friends comes to visit, and we go to a restaurant.

      3. Ginger ale and watermelons are illegalized in Nebraska, and I do all sorts of strange stunts in order to make them legal again.

      4. My house back in my old-old town is all dark and creepy. I'm looking at my reflection in the upstairs television, and get so creeped out that - without even RCing - I decide that I'm dreaming. I keep shouting that I want everything to be normal, normal, normal, normal... but instead of normal, I get a pair of poofy shorts. So I change plans and figure that instead of normal, I should be Sora from Kingdom Hearts. I give myself the wacky hair, the outfit, the pendant, and the Keyblade, and then I wander into the basement waving my weapon (which occasionally turns floppy like a rubber toy) wherever I want there to be light.

      5. I'm Robin, helping Batman on a mission. I get special gloves and boots to prevent electric shock so that I can get through buildings with electrified floors. Batman keeps getting injured, and I have to keep finding places to hide him.

      6. I'm Batman, trying to get through the city without being noticed. It's dark, and there are guards everywhere. Most of the time, I just use my grappling beam to climb buildings. In one building, there's a woman sitting on a platform suspended from the ceiling, and assorted swings that I use to reach her. She thinks I have ill intentions and begins to threaten me, so I leave. When I'm outside, I hear gunshots and the woman screaming, but I just keep running away instead of going back to help her.
    6. Wave 77: Week off = Back into LDs :)

      by , 03-02-2011 at 05:24 PM (The Meerkat's Lair)
Its been a while since I wrote on this site but now I have a week of vacation and decided yesterday I would come back to lucid dreaming for a while. I guess the boost was good, because I had an LD the first night . Recall was also fine.

Dream 1: I am eating at the cafeteria in my school. On my tray, there is a panini and a desert. I head downstairs and leave my food on a cement block to go do something. When I come back, my science teacher is pissed off because I didnt buy a drink. Im confused and we start arguing.

Dream 2: I seem to be playing a game similar to soccer on a huge green field. It is very dark outside, you barely see a thing. We are getting owned by the other team, since my team sucks. There was 7 members for each team. I remember my team included a chinese kid dressed in a yellow shirt. The other team had one of my old friends, Vincent. The bench is surprisingly located behind a wall, just next to the goal. As they are about to score another goal, I use a stick through a hole in the wall to keep them from scoring. It works, but im scared I might get in trouble.

Dream 3: My mom and my sister go into a store to buy a wand from Harry Potter. Lets remember, we are going to Universal in a couple of weeks and there is a store there where you can buy a wand. Apparently its very good. Anyway, when I come back they show me her wand. Its weird-looking, and its really magic. She uses it to turn the wand into a different shape. Ca sappelle "La corde". Im impressed.

Dream 4: Its rainy. I am renting a movie at the video store. The name is something like: "Bataille de la mort 3". Yeah like that. So as im going to pay, I see this girl. Shes so damn hot. I get in the line behind her. She looks at me and smiles. I freeze. Shes so perfect in every way, and I dont know her. Blonde, mildly long hair, dressed in a black jacket. About my age, her face is not too stretched (like Sarah Jessica Parker), just good enough. Her cheeks are slightly chubby (SLIGHTLY). She has a nice, soft voice that's just a little high. It makes me very comfortable. She starts talking to me about the movie I rented. Here's my exact reply: "Ouin, ben. C la bataille de la mort 3. Tsé aprčs le 1 ta le 2 pis apres ca ta le 3". She laughs. As im walking away, I im a state of shock. Shes really my dream girl. Literally. I usually dont get so intense about things, but I was very in love. I spent a minute of my dream actually fantasizing about her before moving on.

Dream 5: Maybe its meeting my girl, but I got lucid instantly in my next dream. Its weird though. There was a typical quebec voice of an old man that said: Eille Ginette, ca arrive tu? Ouin, ca arrive. I got lucid after that and decided to fly. Little success, but mostly failure. He he

    7. Lucid Dream # 28

by , 03-02-2011 at 02:36 PM (Warbenifit156's Lucid Dreaming Adventures)
      Lucidity: 6/10
      Vividness: 8/10
      Length: ~8 min.

"I'm getting beat by my own imagination, that's pretty stupid, huh?" I said. Everyone else looked at me and said "yeah, go kick his ass Austin!" So then I was given a special shotgun and a new nano suit. The nano suit that my friends gave me was pretty cool. It was partial gold. Then I found the guy that was trying to kill me and I ran after him as fast as I could. Almost tripping every once and a while, for about 2 minutes. Then I caught up with them and jumped on the car. I killed one of them and the other 2 grabbed a gun. So I saw that they were about to crash and jumped off of the car right before it blew up.

      DILD

Today I took valerian root capsules, ate a scoop of peanutbutter, and lastly tried the placebo "Lucid Juice" strategy. Later inter night I started having a dream about this kid this kid that was my brothers friend who was walking with my brother and I in the mall. As we passed by a Starbucks the lady at the counter asked him if he wanted to try some delicious moist lemon bread. He replied to her that the word moist makes him think of Vaginas which I found hilarious. As she reached and handed him one of the two remaining loafs left, he sarcastically responded "yes, can you please give me the smaller piece?" -implying that she gave him was the smaller of the two-. I soon after had a false awakening where I noticed my alarm was set to a time that was too early (something I would normally never have thought of). At this point, I laid back down and almost instantly went into dream paralysis. Seconds later I noticed I couldn't hear with my physicall ears anymore, about to enter into a dream my alarm went off and woke me up.

    9. Dissolving Dormitory and Glimpse of a Rainforest

by , 03-02-2011 at 05:04 AM (Nocturn Core (Abridged))
I was reading something on my computer screen when I realized quite abruptly that I was dreaming. I moved my hands via thought alone. A moment later, everything became fuzzy. I reminded myself that it would come back if I focused and relaxed my thoughts. I got hazy visuals of the computer screen fading back in (I was no longer on the same website), then my dorm room. I was sitting at my computer desk again.

“Increase lucidity!” I shouted inside my head. Surprisingly, this didn’t work. My dream control’s usually pretty good… I tried morphing my bedroom into a lush rainforest full of sights and sounds to engage my senses. It worked! I got about halfway through the transformation before I lost the dream.
    10. My first LD! 2/26/2011

      by , 03-02-2011 at 04:57 AM
This was my first attempt at a LD and I knew I could do it. I had trained my self all day since I had heard about. All I was thinking about when I fell asleep was doing a reality check. I "woke up" into the dream and found my self on an operation table. The first thing I did was lean up and pinch my nose (even though I had no control over myself that's all I had been thinking about) and I started breathing through it even though it was pinched and instantly realized it was a dream. I also gained control as soon as I realized it was a dream. I thought to myself "I'm doing it," and it felt very weird to think to myself in a dream. While I was leaning up to get down the surgeon walked in. He was short and stubby like a dwarf and had a pointy hat on, he was carrying his tools and gave me an evil look. I had a compelling urge to run over to him and bash his brains in with whatever I could to save myself. I ran over to him and started hitting as hard as I could and then knocked him into the room he came from. It was plain white just like the other room. I took one final blow at him and splattered the room in blood before I woke up. It was a very strange experience and that seemed to be the only logical thing to do.

    11. 1/1 Mon: Flying, Office, False Awakenings

by , 03-01-2011 at 10:59 PM (One Must Imagine Sisyphus Happy)
Working on getting my recall back up. I think I had at least 3 dreams this night. The lucid is the only one can recall now.

      Flying, Office, False Awakenings
      Method DILD (false awakening)
      Lucidity C
      Vividness B
      Control B
False awakening. I hear the voice of Collin, an old friend who I haven't seen in years. That can't be. I sense that I am in my bedroom from the Daisetta house. I must be dreaming. It's dark. I try to get up but my body seems paralyzed. I can tilt my head enough to look at my hands. I can rub them. I still seem paralyzed, but then dream time skips a few seconds. Now I'm standing in the hallway outside the bedroom and I can move freely. I walk toward the living room where some lights are on. I hear my mother's voice. Wait. I realize my vision is blurry. I turn back toward the bedroom with the intent of finding my glasses. Collin is behind me and he is holding my glasses. I take them from him, put them on, and now my vision is clear (I love that trick).

I walk out to the backyard, ignoring my mother and Collin. It's dark and very foggy outside. I hop up on the picnic table and launch into the air. I fly straight up about 20 stories and then stop hover and look down to get my bearings. The many houses and street lamps glow dimly in the dense fog. I want to fly to my office. I look south-east to the horizon and see dim lights of a large building. That must be it (IWL, it's much further than that) I fly Superman-style toward the buliding, willing myself to go as fast as I can. I arrive, land outside, and burst through the door with great momentum.

I slow down to see where I have arrived. Entering the main door, the interior doesn't look like my office as I expected. It just looks like a long corridor with generic office suites on either side. More like a prison (which, actually, is still an apt description of work). Not discouraged, I wander down the corridor and follow it a few turns. I turn one corner and am surprised to see my office lobby. Cool! Now I follow the real layout of the office toward RH's room. The office furniture looks very different. The chairs are dark brown wicker and there are big leafy fern plants. It's looks like the decor of a hotel in the Caribbean. RH isn't in her office. Next door, I hear her neighbor's voice saying that RH left.

I give up on RH and look through the rest of the office. I peek over the cubical walls, looking for someone I recognize. Then I jump and balance on top of the cubical wall for an easier view. "Where is BG?" I say aloud. She isn't at her desk. I hear a voice say, "She moved to a new seat." I turn around and see a reception desk that doesn't exist IWL. BG is bent over under the desk, pulling out something. "I'm here!" she says. She stands up and I jump from the cubical wall to land in front of her. It doesn't really look like her, which is a bit disappointing. She is wearing a black dress and her hair is black and styled up. I say hello and grab her hand, so as to lead her around the office as I look for more recognizable people.

Now the dream changes abruptly into another false awakening. I'm laying on a bed. It's light. I look down and I am naked and with no blanket. In the room I see four people who look like old hillbillies. They are dressed in plaid shirts and denim overalls. They look at me and start to walk toward me, very slowly like zombies. Ugh, I don't want to be here.

Dream skips again into another false awakening. I am in my own bed. I tilt my head back and my body starts to sink into the bed.

One more awakening, this time for real.

    12. Lucid Dream #8: DILD

      by , 03-01-2011 at 09:00 PM (Siuol's Dream Journal)
      Key: Non-Lucid Lucid

im in some strange place, i can remember it well but it will be to long and to hard to describe it. essentially its some kind of university or something, with buildings like librarys and other things scattered close toghether within a forest with a calm river running through it. someone is chasing me through it, or im not supposed to be there and escaping without getting caught, either one, and i run out of a library and into the river, where i float down on a raft, and the river is in a sort of U shape and doubles back. i guess whoever was chasing me found me, because i was standing in a shallow part of the muddy river, and a man began to stab me, a knife in each hand. and it hurt, or well, it was an uncomfortable pinch. i was stunned, never before in a dream had i really been harmed, and i thought i dont have to take this, its my dream... oh wow im dreaming. once lucid the guy just stop and froze, it was like he was a robot and i just hit the off switch. i was glad to be free, and i started to run, now the wooks was brighter and i could see beautiful mountains surrounding me. then i saw one of those towers for radio or cell phones or whatever it is, and ran up/jumped/flew up it, and looked around. i then jumped down, grabbing the ladder as i went down to slow my fall. at the bottom, i met my grandma who said for me to sit down, its dinner time. i told her no, im dreaming i can do whatever. she got angry and made me sit down, i lost lucidity and woke up.

    13. One longer dream and a dream fragment

      by , 03-01-2011 at 06:56 PM
We are at our summer cottage, by the lake. With me there are my family and some of my friends. There is also a little dog. I stroke it and my friends warn me to watch out that it doesn't bite me. I protect myself with a book. The dog tries to go around me. We circle each other for a while. Soon the dog gives up. We talk something, but I can't remember what. I stroke the dog again, and again it tries to bite me. Soon it gives up. We go for a run. After some time we arrive at a block of flats that looks like my granny's neighbourhood. We go round the building. Soon we see a similar building. We go round it too. There is a glass door. It is open, but I notice that it is the wrong door. There is another door, but I notice that it is a wrong one too. The third door is the right one, but after going from it I am again outside. Now there is a soccer field in below us. Thats where we should go but when I look down I see a fall of at least 4 metres. When I wonder what to do I see one of my friends (that wasn't with us at the beginning of the dream) going down stairs. I go down. There are some children playing. They notice us and start yelling at us that they are playing. One of them urges the others to kick the balls at us. The come closer. I take a ball and foot it. Even though one of the kids is near me, I miss him. I suddenly feel weak and decide to leave. The kids don't follow us. We leave the field. We are now in a dark, cave-like place. There are now six of us. The dark place is a womb and near us, gloving soft milky light, is an egg cell. Our mission is to prepare it for fertilization by removing a chromosome from it, but we can't go too close to it or it will fertilize. I take a long stick and stick it into the cell, removing one x-chromosome. There's some guy that I haven't seen before. One of us dares him to eat the chromosome. He does it, but it doesn't seem to have much effect on him.

I am in an old city. The alley I take ends in a fall. Below me there is a marketplace. When I'm wondering how to get down, two girls go past me, jump on a roof and then on the street below. I notice an iron rod hanging in the air. I decide to use it. I jump and grab it. When I'm hanging there, a woman comes to say to the girls not to jump on the roof. I drop down and notice a friend of mine. The last thing I remember is becoming lucid, though there probably is more that I can't remember.

    14. Teleportation

      by , 03-01-2011 at 05:01 PM
I was sent an errand when i noticed that i can teleport. I did it severally and it struck me 'YOU ARE DREAMING'.
The scene was familiar and I navigated around the scene by teleporting.

I was nervous and thought of changing the dream to something interesting.
I tried re-dreaming a dream that I cherish the most, the most cherished ever. I thought of how I could get to the scene and I found myself in a scene similar to it. I tried feeling the way I felt, tried thinking of her coming; I was hurrying, nervous and never wanted to loose the dream. The dream eventually started to fade and i shouted 'clarity now' and it became clear again.

I left the scene and decided to fly, which i did successfully by bouncing on my feet along the street which ended up in diferent and non lucid dream.

A newbee will always be a newbee what woud i have done to re-dream a dream or to continue from where i stoped in a dream dreamt the previous night?

      Thank you for reading . . .

    15. Dynamite Town + Fragment

by , 03-01-2011 at 03:41 PM (The book of mars)
      Dynamite Town

I’m flying! I’m close to the ground, no cars, just a big long road in the country surrounded by yellow and orange autumnal trees. I let my muscles go limp and the wind takes me higher, passed the power lines. If I go too high I get a little nervous I’ll never come back down, so I stabilize myself a few feet above the power lines. “It feels so good to be flying, finally,” I say.The wind is warm and everything feels exhilarating.

A tiny voice in my head starts talking to me: it’s my mom! I lose lucidity. She wants me to go get “Cochla root” for my dad, who has a bit of back pain. I need to go to the medicine woman we see for the herbal nutrition we buy from her.

Luckily, my school is having a trip to the same area today! Now I’m on a bus, looking out the window. We’re here, in the little mountain town where she lives. I call it a “boomtown” but for other reasons: all around us, people are working with dynamite in the mountains to access the gold and coal that are inside. The surroundings are all dirt and mud with laborers outside on this particularly rainy day. The houses are scattered boxes on the fields passed the dynamite lands. The bus rides through on the only paved road I see.

Out my window I see a girl who’s working. I look in her eyes as she works. There’s a connection here, one that I’m uncertain of but I feel something. I want her to look at me, but the bus passes before she turns.

Ahead, the other bus of students is returning from the town, going home. There is only enough room for one bus, but this isn’t a problem in a dream. Our bus kind of goes “over” the other bus, without an accident or anything dangerous, we are on the same track but on different levels of the same road. My POV is inside the other bus as it passes below us. I see Heather sitting alone, crying. I know she’s having an anxiety attack because of all the dynamite and danger around her. Jack is in my bus and starts taunting her.

“Jack,” I say. Everyone on both of the buses stops talking. “Shut the FUCK UP.” He does. We move on.

We get to our destination soon. It’s a old fort house a little ways passed the main dynamite mountain area. Inside, I get a little scared; this is a haunted house-esqe attraction, not an informative guide through the history of the town. Although I’m scared, me and my friend Celina are the first to run in. The doorway frightens us: when you walk over it, it rains on you. This was terrifying in my dream!

We sit down against a wall and let everyone else explore the house. I go into the kitchen where the witch doing all this scary magic is kneading bread. I ask her about the medicine woman and where I can see her.

“You’re on the same road but this is the wrong house,” she says. I feel embarrassed. I sit back against the wall with Celina and text Heather. Eventually everyone has explored the scary house and we leave.

On the way home we stop at a McDonalds and I order two chicken nuggets. I receive my order and they are huge, about half the size of me! I can’t wait to give these to Heather (I’m vegetarian), but they’re really heavy and difficult to pull along.

The scene shifts to me in the back seat of a car. My Uncle Pat is driving. I don’t want to tell my mom that I didn’t get the Cochla root and she’ll have to drive back to the town. I think of ways to tell her the bad news. My Uncle is going really slow and when I notice this, he hits the accelerator and goes through a shortcut home: through a bank parking lot and then through a school playground. Before we reach the playground, my POV shifts to above the car, as if there is no car, only me and him floating (but I still “feel” that we are in a car). We start passing through the fence into the playground and I see a bunch of curved spoons on the ground.

“That’s where crack addicts do their drugs. If I was going to do crack, I’d do it here,” I say.

On the playground, we pass a teenager on a small child’s bike. Now I am riding the bike.

It has backwards peddle brakes which are so foreign to me that I just don’t brake. Instead, I kind of idle around the edge of the playground until I can cross the street. I go for it without looking, and a car almost hits me: it was my mom, we’re both going home. I find this funny.

Peddling home, I stop on the side of the street to collect some acorns that have fallen from a tiny tree. My uncle’s voice booms to me: “Stop, let’s go home!” I tell him to wait a minute and then we proceed home.

      Fragment

(Copied directly from my dream journal, I can’t make sense of it)
Me + a lot of people, nighttime, afraid on couches in a big house. Julia. My cat forms into a square of space + I wake up with her still there.
