    1. A fucking phoenix

      by , 07-25-2018 at 03:41 PM
After waking up from the dream I instantly remembered a conversation I had with a dude that told me that he had remembered all of his past life’s, he said he had awoken from his amnesia and that he lived in Jupiter.
He told me that our imagination wasn’t really an “imagination” it was memories from our past lives, so everything we saw in our creative minds were events we lived in previous minds, what this means is that our scariest monsters that we have ever thought of really do exist.

      Back to the dream:
I’m at a mountain (I’m thinking the Himalayas for some reason). I’m near a hotel that’s located on one of the mountains, I came to this place to meet a guy that had domesticated a very rare eagle. He said that the eagle was the most expensive to have and keep in the world. I saw the eagle, it was white and could move its neck like an owl. The eagle behaved like a dog, it would play fetch with me, I really liked the eagle, it was kind and playful. I played with the eagle for a while, tossing a stick so it could go catch it on the ground (it would hop on its two legs to get the stick and bring it back). Then I decided to throw the stick off the mountain, with a lot of strength I tossed it and the eagle immediately flew at a very high speed and gave it back to me.

I was completely amazed and enthusiastic about the eagle, I started talking with the trainer, I was asking him how he trained the bird and where could I get one… We are having a conversation when all of the sudden I see 2 big wings in front of me.

I was sitting down, in the position I was in I could not see the body of the animal but the wings were huge, I got really scared. I looked at the trainer and he was as shocked as me. He said:
“I have never seen anything like it, what is it?”
I was feeling scared but curious, I stood up and saw the face and body of the bird.

The body of the bird and all the way to his head was a little more taller than me, I would say 1.9meters. The bird looked young, it looked like it was still growing, not and adult yet. The color of its feathers were beautiful. It was all very purple, dark purple with red, mostly dark purple. The dark purple really opened my eyes, I was amazed with this bird, I was thinking about it and all I could think of was the pokemon Moltres. I told the trainer:
“Yooo, it fucking moltres!”
He didn’t say anything.
His head had like a little bun of feathers on top, like the one moltres has (I googled and a phoenix is also drawn with this particular aspect).

The wings were very big, but when we started to inspect the bird we noticed he was malnourished (he looked anorexic), we could see his bones and almost his skeleton behind his feathers. The bird looked in pain and I felt he didn’t have any more energy to fly, I quickly told him to bring food. We ran inside the hotel, got some food but we were very afraid to get near the bird, we didn’t know if the bird could spit fire and burn us or how could it react (it was a legit question).

We threw the food from inside the cabin of the hotel, I remember the bird started eating all of it and the dream ends.

    2. The Birth and Rebirth of a Phoenix (DILD)

      by , 02-16-2016 at 07:43 PM
Ritual: Yesterday was full of work and stress, conditions that I have previously correlated to vivid dreaming. I worked until going to bed at 2am. Woke at 5am to feed the cat, then again at 6am after a dream that culminated in an experience of intense frustration, vivid enough that I spent around 45 minutes writing it down—an unintended but useful WBTB. Since today will also be very busy I did not do any other lucid practices, however, I had primed myself a little by reading the list of TOTYs last night. Apart from those conditions, the following dream was spontaneous, and I woke from it at around 8:45am.

DILD: I am at my mother's house, but it is unlike any WL house. I am in a long room with high ceilings, very spacious and sparsely furnished, with no modern accoutrements. Maybe it is the medieval look of the interior that reminds me of the TOTYs, and I become lucid. Which would be a good one to do? Fairy would be easier to do outdoors. I could turn into a dragon but then I'd have to destroy everything and I don't want to wreck my mother's house. Phoenix? That would be a good one. I try to remember the details. I can't just summon it directly, I have to burn something, right? I look around the room for something suitable.

On the far end of the room is a table under a shuttered window. The table is covered with a white cloth, and spread across it is an assortment of jewels and precious stones. These look ideal. I select a faceted gem and place it in my left palm. It is small, only about six millimeters across, transparent with cobalt blue striations, like a combination of diamond and sapphire. It is faceted into what I think of as a classic gem shape. [According to online sources, this is simply called a "round" cut.] I walk slowly across the room back toward the couch where my mom is sitting, concentrating on the stone and willing it to catch fire. The stone feels inert in my hand, and I feel that I have chosen the wrong one. From the coloring, this stone is clearly attuned with ice, not fire. I should go back and pick a different one.

I return to the table and find a small stone of matte earthy red color. This is more a mineral than a gem, and it is shaped like a narrow lozenge, almost a centimeter long, pointed at the ends, and only a few millimeters wide in the middle. I begin to will it into flame, but immediately have second thoughts. The stone is so skinny and small, it would probably make a scrawny phoenix. I go back to the table to look for a better one.

I decide to find a gem that could pass for a phoenix egg, examine the options more carefully, and finally come across a good-sized stone around three centimeters across. It is also matte and reddish, but a generous oval in shape, and the top is composed of randomly assorted rounded protrusions, like bubbles. The bottom has been leveled off and already set into a metal frame. I decide that this one is ideal, put it in my left palm, and begin to invoke fire in earnest. Around this time my mom tries to talk to me about doing some household chore but I hush her: "Not now, I'm busy."

The stone resists at first, but I do not let myself doubt my ability to do this. I've summoned fire in my palm before. This time I'm just transmuting it from a substrate. I will a flame to emerge from the stone and soon it does—but I notice that in the process, the stone has transformed into a candle. The candle is larger than the stone, filling my hand. It is a 6cm tall cylinder and is conveniently fitted in a round container. Between the candle and the sides of the container is what looks like a filling of crumpled dry grass.

The flame is burning on the wick in the ordinary way, and I will it to expand and consume the whole candle, turning it into the phoenix I am trying to create. For a moment it burns quietly, but then the whole object transforms again. Briefly I seem to be holding a bundle of smoldering dried grass, around a foot in diameter, until the whole thing explodes and violently flies apart, patches landing in various places around the room. Failure? I'd better check the remains.

I wander around to a couple of the smoking remnants, but see nothing notable. I remember that I need to keep my expectations high, so as I walk toward a third, larger patch, I anticipate finding a baby phoenix. Sure enough, when I prod at the charred dried grass, underneath I discover a tiny, long-necked, bird-like creature! The phoenix has hatched! But it is it skinny and completely limp. What can I do to help? As a creature of fire, I reason, it must need heat. It is probably freezing to death.

I gently pick up the baby bird, which drapes across my hands with no sign of life, and take it to the fireplace. Luckily there is already a good fire burning. There is a kind of metal chain screen separating the fire from a metal grate on the hearth. Sprawled on the grate, soaking up the heat, is a long iguana-like lizard that I had previously noticed on the table when I was selecting jewels. I figure it must be a salamander, with the same need for warmth as my new phoenix. Should I place the phoenix in the fire directly, or on the grate? Since my hypothesis about the wisdom of putting the phoenix in the fire is as yet untested, I decide to lay it on the grate in case I need to remove it quickly.

The experiment goes well. As soon as I lay the baby phoenix next to the fire, its body begins to perk up and fill out. It grows until it resembles a toucan in shape and size, though red in color and with a sleeker bill. Success! But was there more to the task? I can't remember if we were also supposed to fight something, and figure I'd better do that as well as long as I can maintain dreamstate. "Let's go fight something!" I say to the newborn phoenix, and it hops up on my shoulder.

I head past the table with the jewels and open the window in the end wall. The window is a square aperture about three feet on a side, fastened with a single wooden shutter. The shutter is hinged on one side, flush with the wall when closed, and opens inward to the left. This truly resembles a medieval house in that there is no glass in the window, so it is easy to climb up and out. I pause on the sill and bid the phoenix to fly on ahead. Meanwhile, I hang up the long metal hook that I used to open the shutter so that I can grab it when I come in later, then use another device that resembles a hook attached to a wire loop to suspend myself from the sill and ease the drop to the ground, which is far enough below that it requires some precaution. I have the feeling that I have done this many times before.

Once on the ground, I look around for someone or something to fight. I am on a grassy lawn that extends between a number of different buildings. The buildings themselves don't leave a distinct architectural impression—I wish I had taken a closer look. Instead I was scanning the ground between them, but all I see are ordinary people walking about, none of whom seem like suitable opponents. I don't want to be an unprovoked aggressor.

The dream begins to fade. I worry that the abrupt transition to a different space might have unbalanced it, and I immediately take steps to stabilize, falling on my knees and examining the details of the grass while running my hands over it for texture. For a moment the grass turns grey and although I see all the usual plants among it, like clover, everything looks unusually small. But then a voice hails me from above and the dreamstate resumes its integrity: "Do you want to fight?" I promptly agree.

I am facing a man who is accompanied by a creature resembling a muscular, short-haired white dog. The man has a sword, and immediately begins to strike at me. Although I am unarmed, I find that I am able to parry his blows with my hands without too much discomfort. I suspect that I could turn the fight to my advantage if I want, but the whole point of this exercise was to fight in tandem with the phoenix. Where is that bird? "Phoenix? Phoenix!" I call anxiously.

The blade keeps falling, and I keep catching it and pushing it aside, but luckily the dog is hanging back for now. Suddenly to my relief the phoenix swoops in, aiming a stream of fire at the dog. More gouts of flame follow, consuming the man and dog, but they do not go down easily. I watch the phoenix, who has now taken human form, take a blade right through his stomach, angling up toward his chest. It is an unmistakably lethal blow, and I run over to him as he falls. I feel guilty for having put him in this predicament—but recall that for a phoenix, there should be a way to fix this.

Looking around frantically, I am pleased to discover a fireplace in my immediate vicinity. Nevermind the unlikelihood of finding a fireplace outdoors; it is just what I need so I don't question it. I drag the phoenix, currently in the form of a slim Asian boy, over to the hearth and dump him directly onto the flames. I expect the fire to heal him; instead he begins screaming as his skin burns and chars. It is horrifying, but I hold him down as he struggles—he was dying already, this is the only thing that might help. Maybe this is how it is supposed to work. A phoenix has to die to be reborn, right? The human body blackens and burns away. Sure enough, in its place I find a little baby bird, looking much like it did initially but yellow instead of red this time. I wonder if its pale color means it needs to eat. The bird pecks at some morsel of food near the fire and I try to tempt it with something better. "Here, eat a hot one." I pluck an olive-sized piece from a row of snacks baking in the fireplace (I don't feel the heat, just as I didn't feel pain from the sword earlier) and offer it directly. The little bird compliantly swallows the morsel, growing in size and turning red again.

I feel that I have completed the task to satisfaction, so even before I wake up I begin reviewing the details, making sure I commit them to memory. There is a moment when I am back in the same house as the beginning of the dream and ask someone to remind me the name of the guy I fought. "Ziggy Starduster and the Hoarfrost," comes the reply. I note that they definitely said "Starduster," not "Stardust." Since I only hear rather than see the names, I briefly wonder if the dog's name is spelled "Whorefrost" or "Hoarfrost," but decide that the latter is more appropriate on a number of levels.

    3. Touching the Phoenix

      by , 09-03-2014 at 07:00 PM
Probably because I had been thinking of the "Expecto Patronum" TOTM before bed, during one scene in a long sequence of NLDs, there appeared a phoenix resembling the one kept by Dumbledore.

NLD: I was standing outdoors talking to three men (random DCs, no resemblance to anyone from WL). At one point I noticed a very large bird flying overhead, crimson and crested, and recognized it as a phoenix. I thought this was a remarkable thing to see, so I lifted my right hand in the air as a gesture of acknowledgment and welcome.

The phoenix turned began diving toward me. What would happen if it touched my hand? I momentarily worried that it might choose that moment to burst into flames, consuming me. But I kept my hand up to see what would happen, and the phoenix flew right over my head, just low enough that my fingers grazed its soft belly feathers.

I felt honored and delighted by this contact, so when it turned for another pass I kept my hand elevated, and it happened again. When it turned for a third pass, I wondered if it would be okay if I switched hands: would changing the pattern scared it off? I raised my left hand, and it flew down to gently graze that one too.

As it readied itself for a fourth pass, I began to suspect there must be something deliberate about its actions. What was it doing? I had the impression that it was trying to protect us. But what sort of protection could be imparted this way? "Fire resistance," I thought, and in another simultaneous scene, as though the dream had split into two concurrent but disconnected spaces, I was consulting the new D&D Player's Handbook I had been browsing in an earlier dream sequence, looking up the rules on fire resistance. How much FR might we get from touching a phoenix? +1? +2? Total protection?

Meanwhile, in the main scene, the phoenix was turning for a fourth dive. "Touch it," I instructed the others, so they would be protected too. Why was the phoenix trying to protect us in this way? Were we in danger of some immanent conflagration?
    4. In the end

I stand in the middle of the platform, with the gate in front of me and Silver, Yuya and Shinave behind me.
I hold out my left hand against the gate, and give it a slight burst of energy.
Some engravings on it light up. I focus on the templars, and sure enough a connection is made to a gate right next to them.
A portal forms inside the gate in a dark purple color.
The doors are open, they can simply walk in now.
      I'm nervous.

After a rather tense minute, some shapes finally emerge from the portal. Templars.
All 12 of them. This is it.
They all appear to be rather calm.
Then again, why wouldn't they? It's not like we'd stand a chance in a fair fight.

Finally, one of them addresses me. And to my surprise he looks somewhat different than the other templars.
He isn't wearing a helm, and his weapon of choice seems to be a sword rather than a lance.
How curious. Do the templars have some sort of leader after all?

"Oh dragon... It's unfortunate that you have resisted your death for this long."
"But I see you have finally seen the light."
"I respect that you stand here, offering to sacrifice yourself in exchange for the life of your friends."
"It is not an action that I would have expected from a dragon."

      Oh.
That assumption sort of makes sense I guess.
The thought that we would fight them is pure insanity, yet I've shown them exactly where we are.

"Unfortunately the deal is not acceptable."

      He points at Yuya.

"I'll need the life of the water goddess as well."
"Both of your lives for Teraluna. We have no interest in the others."
      "Come forward and kneel down."

He wants to see the look on my face when he executes her in front of my eyes.
Typical Templar reasoning. They want a show. After all they could just charge at us and kill us all.
I turn around to look at Yuya. She's not worried at all. In fact she grins. Good.
I look back at the templar.
I stare deeply into his eyes and lough out loudly, which confuses him to some extend.
Finally the feeling of eeriness goes away.
No more anxiety. No more worries.
There is only the present now. No future to worry about.

I nod at Silver to give him the signal to activate the seal.
The symbols he has drawn on the ground grow all over the platform.

A transparent bubble surrounds all of us.
The portal generated by the gate collapses immediately, because as of right now, both gates no longer exist in the same space time continuum.
Everything within the bubble is separated from normal space and time, at least for as long as Silver keeps it up.
Nothing comes in, nothing goes out.
As far as I know, it is the ultimate spatial sealing technique. I've never seen anyone use it before.
Still, the templars do not seem alarmed. After all there's 12 of them and only 4 of us.

      "And now what little dragon?"

There is complete silence now. Sound doesn't penetrate the seal.
I speak in a dark, assertive voice.

      "Why, isn't it obvious?"
"I am going to kill you all"

That made him angry. He snaps his fingers and 2 templars charge at me immediately.
This is it then. This is what I've gambled everything on. Work!
Phoenix catalyst. Only once before have I drawn power directly from it, instead of using it as a catalyst to amplify my own powers.
It was when I resurrected Yuya. But of course that used up the entire catalyst. There is nothing left.
But I do use the same technique in the hopes of having understood what the orb that was given to me is.
Even though it was just an intuition. But right now, that is all I have.

The templars that charge at me do not have their lances drawn. Their goal is to push me to my knees. To put me in place.
To teach me a lesson. But I have other ideas. I propel myself forwards and slap my hands against their breastplates.
I use the technique and draw energy as hard as I can and concentrate it within my hands.

I feel some resistance. But it's like slapping your hands against a water surface. It hurts a little initially, but your hands still move straight through.
Through their breastplates. Through the bodies. I'm going straight through with my bare hands.
The lifeless remains of their bodies drop to the ground. They are not human bodies. There is no blood. It's like some sort of clay surrounded with skin.

      It worked... It worked!
I can freely draw energy from the orb. My intuition was right. It is the same type of energy.
But I have no time to think about this any further.
Because the templars have now realized the danger, and 3 of them have already rushed past me towards Silver.
They want to destroy the seal, in case they need to retreat.
      But Yuya is on it.
She is projecting some of her water spheres towards them.
Right before impact Shinave casts some kind of frost magic onto them, causing the spheres to erupt into ice spikes.
They are not strong enough to penetrate the armor of the templars, but they do manage to immobilize them for a moment.

I draw energy again, focus it into 3 small spheres and toss them at the templars.
Yet again, their bodies shatter on impact. They won't be able to get to Silver without dealing with me first.
Too late I realize that this is exactly what they're doing.
A lance hits me right in the stomach. I manage to blink away before by body suffers the full impact.
Another Templar is already striking me from another side.
I block his lance with my hands and give it a pulse of energy, breaking the lance in half.
I promtly throw the gained head of the lance at the Templar who previously managed to hit me in the stomach.
The lance shatters into pieces as I try to infuse it with energy, but enough of it discharges into the Templar to incapacitate him.
A few energy infused punches take care of the Templar with the broken lance.

To my surprise the remaining templars have not moved towards me at all.
4 of them stand there, emotionless, in front of their leader who is in anger.
I don't think he fully understands what just happened. 7 down, 5 to go.
And although only one of the templars displays any emotions, I don't notice an ounce of fear.

"Do you really think you can kill us all?"

I respond with an evil smile and draw my katana from its scabbard on my back.
That's right, I've been fighting you with my bare hands.

      "Fine."

Some sort of growth on the leaders left arm becomes visible. It looks somewhat organic and insectoid.
Extensions reach from it to the necks of each of the templers bodies, all 11 of them.
With a motion of his left hand, the extensions retract back into his arm and all remaining templars drop dead.
All Templar bodies slowly begin to turn into something that resembles sawdust.
Suddenly, an immense amount of pressure originating from the remaining templars aura pushes against me.
I have to concentrate a small layer of energy around my body to protect it from burning up.

So much raw power. So this is why the templars were always so emotionless and their bodies so unnatural.
They were puppets controlled by this single person.
He confidently draws his own sword and begins walking towards me slowly.

"You have caused me grief, dragon. These are rather difficult to create you know."
"They have to be captured when they are but little children, then carefully raised into weapons."
"It takes such a long time, and now I have to do it all over again."

Even though right now, I have a virtually unlimited supply of energy, I am afraid of this guy.
Being in possession of this orb thing, but he is radiating so much energy naturally.

Here he comes. I draw huge amounts of energy into my katana, hoping to power through his sword.
But he merely deflects my attack, I do not manage to release the energy. This goes on for a few strikes.
Each time our swords clash he deflects it skillfully. He has the upper hand.
Then unexpectedly he charges in close, even though I haven't given him an opening.
Somehow he manages to get his blade uncomfortably close to my face and I have to blink back.

I quickly realize that I've been somewhat late. He managed to leave a small cut between my eyes.
A few more centimeters and that would have been it...

      "Hmm. How odd."
"Clearly you have the energy to fight me, but you are not good enough of a swordsman to do so."
"I wonder. Years ago, you fought a Templar in the depths of hell. A fight where none of you had access to energy."
"A fight against someone who had perfected the art of sword combat."
"You do not have the skills necessary to have won that fight."

He is right. I should not have been able to do that. It is something I cannot explain.
It just happened, even though it should have been impossible.
And I can feel that this guy uses similar moves. If he hasn't perfected the art of sword combat, he is close.
I am no match for him. I cannot win in a sword fight. And the only way to discharge enough energy to deal damage to him
      is through my katana.

"Also I wonder. Where does all of that energy suddenly come from?"
"You have done something rather curious indeed."

He charges at me a few more times. Fortunately I manage to deflect his attacks, but it is very close.
He just has to wait until I make a small mistake.

"And the dragon does not use his dragon powers."
"Instead he fights me with what seems to be divine energy."

I can't use it because both powers clash with each-other. It would rip me apart.
But he doesn't need to know that.
He attacks a few more times, and manages a few deep cuts into both of my shoulders and my back.

"Your time is slowly running out dragon."
"Not only will your body give in sooner or later, but that white haired friend of yours isn't going to last much longer keeping that seal up either."

Silver... He doesn't even know the proper reason he is keeping that seal up for, yet he is still giving it all hes got.
Hold out a little longer... I'll figure something out...

The templar performs a downwards strike over his shoulder, which I attempt to block directly.
He somehow angles his body in such a way that he is able to rotate around and punch me in the chest.
Even though I concentrate most of my energy into my ribs to absorb the shock, they still buckle a little under a loud crushing noise as I'm projected backwards.
I cough up some blood, but I manage to keep by defensive posture.

Due to the lung damage I decide to stop breathing entirely, and instead filter the CO2 in my blood using energy.
An easy technique, usually used to go to locations where breathing is not possible, such as underwater or planets without oxygen rich atmospheres.
I quickly repair potentially lethal damage using a variety of phoenix techniques.
My body is taking one hell of a beating, it won't last much longer.

"It is a shame that I have not found you when you were a child."
"You have so much potential, you would have made a fantastic asset."

Right as he readies another attack, something startles him to the point that he looses his focus on me.
I can feel a new presence. A dark, cold one. I look for it and spot a person that must have just appeared.
This is not possible... Nobody can enter this space as long as it is sealed. There are no tricks or techniques to circumvent interdimensional seals.
He immediately looks right at me and pronounces in a loud voice:

      "Death has come for you."

As he summons an oversized pitch black scythe I understand what has happened.

"Silver, break the seal... It is no longer of any use."

The bubble surrounding the platform dissipates. Silver has to lie down from exhaustion.
Yuya and Shinave look rather worried. They know what it means when death comes for you.
He looks like a teenager. Somewhat long, black fuzzy hair. Worn and slightly torn black pants and shirt.
He's very skinny. But the scythe is what really makes it clear what he is. Death. Or a messenger of death.
I don't know the specifics behind how it works.

I try to utter the words "Not today". Because that is what you say when death comes for you.
But my voice is faint and fragile. It's not even because of the damaged lungs.
He is amused by this and laughs.

"Good one! I haven't heard that one yet. You may have just made my day."
"Seriously though, you're coming with me."

The grip on my katana loosens. I have fucked up.
This is the end. It's because I took the orb.
This orb, I don't know what exactly it is, or why it exists. All I know is that it has to do with life energy.
It plays a role in the birth of things. This is also the reason why I was able to draw power from it. It's the same type of energy as in the phoenix catalyst.
Because they are so important, each orb is assigned a guardian, so that no individual can ever obtain one.
Ironically, it is one of the guardians who gave me the orb. And she warned me that death would come for me.
I am not sure why she decided to give it to me, but I understand that I must now pay the price for having taken it.
Death acts as some sort of backup protection in case an orb is ever stolen.

In a moment of desperation I ask:

      "... a minute then?"

Death looks at me a little surprised. Why would he ever agree to that? What am I even doing with another minute?
He made it clear that he is here to get me now. He looks at the templar, then back at me.
      Then he shrugs.

      "A minute it is."

      And he sits down.
      What?
      Just like that?
He is completely carefree, as if he was about to grab some popcorn.

The templar laughs, realizing that he has already won.

"You fool! All I care about is your death, nothing else matters to me."
      "You have just lost everything."

I know. The guardian told me.
For a moment I believed that Silvers seal would make me invisible to death, and I could use the orb without being spotted.
In retrospect, that was a rather idiotic assumption. But it is too late for remorse now.
Not like I had any alternatives anyways.
But before I go, there is one thing left to do...
Forget about the future, it is no more. There is only the present now.

"You asked me earlier how I managed to kill a man who had perfected the art of sword combat."

My voice has recovered some strength.

"Yes, I am curious about that indeed."

I remove the protective layer of aura surrounding my body and focus all of it into my katana.
Immediately I feel the pressure of the templars aura on my skin. It burns away my clothes and slowly begins to eat away at my skin.
Energy distribution in your body is a key aspect in advanced combat techniques. You can divert energy that is intended to defend your body into your attacks and vice versa.
Removing too much defensive energy leaves you without any defense.
But it's not like I have any need for that anymore.

"I admire your will, but you do not have the technique to beat me."

Yes. He can just deflect my attacks.
I open my dragon eyes, which is of course a rather self-destructing thing to do, given that my body is flooded with divine energy, which will immediately attack the dragon eyes
which are of demonic nature. I don't care.
I understand the confused look on the templars face, as the dragon eyes do not work on them.
But they are not intended for him.
I look for my own reflection in his eyes, and attempt to stare directly into my own dragon eyes.
This is something you are never supposed to do.
There is a high risk of getting lost forever.

I do it to look into my past.
Into the exact moment I fought that templar in the fires of hell.
I was but a young teenager back then. I can see it clearly now.
I walk towards the templar whilst looking at my memories at the same time.

"Back then, I had only a minute to kill the master swordman."
"And now you have a minute to do the same with me."
"I will show you exactly how I defeated him."

I begin to mimic the movements of the templar I fought against years ago.
Our swords spray sparks every time they touch. At this point it looks more like a dance than a sword fight.
He quickly realizes that he no longer has the upper hand. We are on equal terms now, and I have nothing to loose.
He changes to a more defensive style, attempting to simply outlast the minute that was given to me.
Fortunately, I require so much focus that I am completely incapable to think about what is going to happen next.
Sure enough, just before the minute runs out, I perform a combination of moves that creates an opening.
I take it without hesitation and lodge my katana firmly into his chest.

The burning sensation and the pressure emitted by the templar stops immediately.
He is visibly confused. He does not understand the mistake he made, and neither do I.
This style of combat is way too advanced for me. I merely copied what I saw.
But still, even with my sword lodged in his chest he smiles.

"It doesn't matter. I still won."

I have nothing witty to reply. He is right. His goal was that I die, and he achieved that, after all death has come for me.
I have lost. I release the energy stored within the katana and the templar bursts up in purple flames, leaving nothing behind.
I suppose this should provide some sort of relief. At least the templars are gone.
But I feel no such thing. All I feel is failure.

Death approaches me, carrying his scythe on his shoulder.
      This is the end.

Two Doctor/Professors/Scientists in orange?- faintly reminded me of Half-Life 1 and 2. There were scientists and professors like them in a lab
setting that resembled my Mom's old house. I walked around watching them. There were grey figures walking around the room too- obviously
robots or androids of some sort.

The scientists were bustling around the room that I was in, programming the androids/cyborgs.
"Why are you so glitchy? Why are you stuttering?" One stops a dark grey robot to fiddle with his CPU brain.

Brent and I in a small but long room, Bowser is in it and we're trying to get to the other side. He pops up every now and then and we knock him
      away each time.
At the end of the room, a giant arena sits.
Giant MegaBowser falls from nowhere and starts jumping and crushing Brent, though he respawns. I wait until Bowser is distracted and I toss a
green koopa shell at him and knock him for a loop. He's dazed for a moment; But he jumps again, and I watch his shadow carefully to avoid him. I
warn Brent this time to watch his shadow, but he doesn't listen and gets hit a second time. I throw a giant koopa shell this time and it almost
      finishes Bowser off.

I get away unscathed and end up talking my Aunt about Brent. She seems to know exactly what Brent is up to.

crushed the area around us except for the overhang, but the overhang wouldn't stand much longer with the weight of the tree on it.

"Don't worry, it's definitely gonna fall." We raced to his truck to save it from being crushed.
"Oh, I'm worried." I spit out.

    7. A Visit to Phoenix (Night of August 22-23, 2012)

by , 09-15-2012 at 07:08 PM (The Lab Notebook)
(This is a catch-up post. This dream took place on the night of August 22-23, 2012.)

Awake, Non-lucid, Lucid, [Commentary made while awake]

My mom and I are watching a play together. The play features a girl and a creepy, life-sized puppet that is designed to be a body double of her. I see that $OfficeBoss is there, watching the play with his family. Then, my mom and I go out to the parking lot and drive away in the same car together, even though we both have cars there. We can only start one of our cars, not the other one, because neither of us has the right key for that one.

I'm in the Phoenix, Arizona metro area on vacation, visiting my good friend, JM. I have my own car
[which I never do when I go to visit him, because I always fly there and get rides around town with him and his friends - this should have been my first clue that I was dreaming, but it wasn't], and I'm driving east along the freeway, heading in the direction of JM's house. The scenery around me is incredibly beautiful and lush, with lots of desert plants.

JM and I are hanging out in a bar together, totally chilling out on a sofa. I'm drinking a beer that someone else abandoned on a table. We walk out of the bar, which is located in a shopping mall. As we're on our way out of the mall, we find another friend of ours, ET
[a human - yes, those are his initials], in another of the mall's shops. I realize it's him when I hear his voice. A bunch of our friends are with us now. ET hugs everyone in the group (myself, JM, CF, and a couple of others), except for RD. RD doesn't want to be hugged, and uses her fingers to climb up the side of a door to get away from ET. ET tickles her on the small of her back instead.

I'm walking through a beautiful Arizona landscape of desert farms,
and at this point, I finally realize that I'm dreaming. I focus on the fact that the guard dogs that many of the farms have cannot really hurt me when I'm in a dream. I run away from one of them by flying straight up, and then start flying over the lovely scenery, admiring it. Looking southwest, I can see downtown Phoenix, which has skyscrapers and a giant stone head with a big, wide-open mouth. Just after I've started flying, my alarm goes off and wakes me up.

(It's been a week almost since the last real recall... Nathan and Alex have been waking me up every attempt. I need a less alarming wake-up from now on. Less distraction. I need to be patient. The weed hasn't been helping, so I've decided to quit. At least for two weeks. So my next smoking date can be on the 20th.)

(The dream I had before Nathan woke me up):
The short recall of the dream started with- I was sitting in the car with Alex driving and Nathan in the back seat. We were in Surprise, around the Walmart area in the parking lot. It was probably around 5-6PM because it was light out still, but obviously towards the end of the day. I was singing two songs at once... having trouble determining the difference between them. The first one that I recall thinking about in the dream was, "Simplistic Trance-Like Getaway" by Never Shout Never. But also, at the same time it sounded like another song... "Beginner's Mind" by Bright Eyes. Around the same time, we were pulling out of the parking lot and heading home to Wickenburg. The last thing I remember was watching the powerlines pass. That's when Nathan woke me up in WL by rapping at my window.

(That was a very interesting choice of song. They both were... very... involved in my state of WL. I couldn't help but feel chills listening to the words after I had woken up. How could I know to choose those songs? Does my subconscious have control of my dreambody when my waking consciousness doesn't? Should I treat it as a seperate entity? I think so.)

I was visiting weird planets with Yuya as I often do in a rather deep dream that had been going on for multiple hours.
      Then this happened:

There it is, a feeling all too familiar that I have not experienced in a long time.
I am scared... so fucking scared.
Fortunately my body reacts on its own, powering up and thus protecting me from the overwhelming pressure off the aura that has just appeared.
I know this feeling all too well, even though it has been such a long time since I've last experienced it.

      This is very unexpected.
I have lately gone out of my way to get into trouble, because there is nothing like the fear you experience during a fight where your opponent is actually strong enough to kill you.
But in such fights, it is more of a mixture of fear and excitement you are experiencing.
The feelings of a true fights are difficult to explain, but there's a very special vibe to them that is oddly fascinating.

      But this... this isn't.
There is no excitement, there are no feelings associated to those of a good fight.
      This is pure fear.

Usually I gradually power up during fights, trying to find a good balance so that I am on a similar level to my opponent, because that makes things most interesting.
But this time I'm not. My body instinctively powered up all the way.
And I will need every single bit of strength if I want to survive this.

Fucking Templars who hunt me down because the god from their delusions told them so.
If only they weren't so ludicrously strong.
I can't afford anything less than a perfect level of concentration.
The first time I encountered one of them, I had both Yuya and Silver with me and I still came close to dying on multiple occasions.
To top it off I only managed to win the fight by using an ability that I can only use once every few years.
And that was a stray Templar, possibly weaker than the one I'm facing right now.
      http://www.dreamviews.com/blogs/hyu/...dragons-18805/

The second time I was in a room full of portals, and managed to make a run for it.
This time I won't have a choice. We'll have to fight.
They are so fast that I won't be able to draw my phoenix wings without creating a very short opening, inevitably resulting in my death.
Yes. They are that fast. There is zero room for errors.

"The true lord demands your death Anassasi."
"I couldn't care less about your delusions."
"Oh but you should. Your death is inevitable, regardless of how much you try to resist us."
"The Templars will hunt you for all eternity."

He plays with his staff in a taunting manner.
It's odd. Regardless of how much hate there is during a fight, if both parties have considerable strength, there is always a certain degree of respect. Even if it is only the respect in your opponents strength.
And an element of excitement, because only rarely do you have the opportunity to go all out if you are this strong.
But with Templars there is none of that.
There is only the urge to survive.
And them? I'm not even sure if they have feelings at all besides hatred for certain dreamers.

I know that WakingNomad has encountered them as well. I used to call them Paladins, but after reading that he calls them Templars, the term has somehow emerged into my dreams.

Yuya has casted her water spheres and her aura is clearly on edge. But even like this there is an inexplicable beauty to her aura, even if she is ready to kill.
If only our truly overpowered abilities would work against them.
They are immune to both my dragon eyes and Yuya's water extraction technique.
I'm not sure if they have any water in their bodies.
They have a certain artificial look to them. Maybe it is because they never show any emotions besides hate.

      "Today the dragon will die."

I grip my katana tightly. It is fully of energy and vibrates strongly in my hand.
I am perfectly focused on him. I am waiting for the slightest of changes within his aura.
There is is! A small twitch... and he is gone.

He appears right in front of me, but I was perfectly prepared for his blink and am already midway in my own blink, bringing me only slightly out of reach of his staff.
      It hurts!
I had forgotten that any proximity to their aura causes a feeling of pressure so strong that you think it could burn off your skin.
But it doesn't feel like the heat of fire, it is what I assume it would feel like if you got an acid burn.

      It's go time.
I charge towards the Templar and clash my sword into his staff.
I cannot comprehend how their staffs can deflect such power. It doesn't feel like they charge any energy onto them.
Any material should easily break in such a situation if you don't.
Yuya is throwing her spheres against him, and occasionally casting high pressure water beams into his direction.
But they are simply deflected by his armor in the same manner his staff is deflecting my sword.
      It is so frustrating.

My aura is right at the edge of hurting my own body. The vibrations are only barely bearable.
I see the sky red and the clouds burning. My blood is boiling.
In such a state I need to be careful not to accidentally damage my own body.
Yuya is pushed slightly outside of the battle my various pressure attacks.

"Do you know how we kill a dragon?"

A device on his staff activates and my katana is teleported and trapped against it.
He smiles and charges at me with his staff.

"The last Templar who thought so is long dead you fool."

This trick may have worked once, but I'm not falling for it again.
I cast my katana away and re-materialize it in my hand.
He didn't expect this. Maybe I can force a small opening.
I skillfully bring myself into a better position.
Yes! This is perfect, I got him at a dead angle.
I charge all the energy into my sword that I can manage and swing it against the right side of his abdomen as he passes me.
I can feel it clashing against his armor and releasing all of its energy. A perfect hit!

      Coldness. Shudder.
I blink instinctively, but slightly too late.
A sharp pain emerges from my left shoulder.
How did he manage to reposition himself like that?
He was to my right and I clearly hit him hard.
How did he manage to cut into my left shoulder?
And why the fuck does his staff have retractable blades?

The situation calms down as we all got some space between us.
Fuck, I have to fight on my own for a split second and I'm already wounded.
I feel blood slowly streaming down my arm.
Usually the dragon aura would naturally take care of it and close the wound, but there's something about a Templars aura that prevents such in-combat healing techniques.
I cast fire onto the skin surrounding the wound and burn it shut.
It hurts, but I have so much adrenaline in my body that it isn't as bad as it sounds.

Then I notice that Yuya is wounded as well, though only superficial.
She has a small cut on her left arm, and she appears to have frozen the wound shut.
      This is not going well.

I inspect the Templar in the hopes of spotting some serious damage dealt by my last attack.
There is a dent in his armor.
Are you fucking kidding me? I landed a perfect hit!
I hit him so hard that the changes of air pressure around him caused extensive damage to the ground surrounding us.
But his armor? A fucking dent?
How are we supposed to beat him?

The fight continues, but it quite frankly isn't looking good for us.
He manages to land near-hits on us with nearly every try, whereas all of our attacks bounce off his stupid armor.
If only Silver was here. But he isn't, and he won't come.

      I'm starting to become exhausted.
Templars don't seem to suffer from this issue. The longer this fight will drag on the worse our situation will become.

Alright. Time for more risky tactics.
I lower my katana slightly, giving the Templar an opening if he charges me head on.
And sure enough he comes right at me.
Time nearly stops. I see him slowly approaching me during one fast leap.
He's moving so fast that pressure waves are building around his body.

Yuya's aura is clearly alarmed. She is very worried about me... and... so am I.
Was this really a good idea? What was I thinking?
I haven't used this ability in years, I can't even remember it properly.
It's to late to question it now... just go with it.

I slightly lower the dragonic energy in my body. Any hit now and I am most certainly dead.
I shift all the energy into the right side of the blade of my katana.
Then I rapidly focus phoenix energy within my body.

This is a horrible idea. It is so dangerous to do this.
Dragonic energy is demonic in nature, whereas phoenix energy is divine.
Like fire and ice. Matter and Antimatter.
Any mistake will rip my body apart.
I do not have the experience I had a few years ago, and even then, as mad as I was, I respected and feared using both energies at the same time greatly.

My eyes and my dragon tattoo begin to hurt intensely.
They are being attacked my the divine energy.

I increase the phoenix energy until it reaches the same level as the dragon energy.
Then I funnel it into my blade as well, but on the other side.
I now have two independent energy circuits running through my blade and body.
But they draw their power from the same source: my aura.
I need to divide my concentration.
Half of it to make sure I do not kill myelf.
The other half to coordinate my attack.

My katana begins to vibrate heavily.
I turn the dragon energy into heat. A heat greater than that of suns, probably only matched by the pressure within a black hole, something only a dragon can do.
With my phoenix energy I do the exact opposite. Absolue zero. The temperature at which everything stops, an ability exclusive to wielders of divine energy.
Both touch only at the edge of the blade.
This causes the laws of physics to break down.
Such opposing forces cannot occupy the same space, yet they do at the very edge of the blade.
An intense pressure vortex forms around my blade because the air surrounding it no longer has any idea how to act.

I swing my katana at the Templar, who is now only centimeters away from me.
The intense pressure emerging from my sword closes the opening I gave him earlier.
This has to work. This is one of the most powerful techniques I know of, and I am risking my life to perform it.
It is not a dragon ability, nor is it a phoenix ability.
It is my ability. Mine alone. A combination of powers only I could use on the most extreme level.
If this doesn't hurt him nothing will.

As I swing my katana towards him. I no longer manage to contain the force within.
Some energy leaks out, causing intense vortexes around us.
It emits a pure, blinding light.

      And then, they finally clash.
      My katana and his staff.
The explosion of energy is beyond anything I've ever experienced.
My senses shut down to protect my body from the intensity of the situation.
It is like witnessing the big bang. The emergence of a sheer infinite supply of energy from a tiny point in space.

      My senses slowly recover...
The energy in my body is completely unstable. Both the dragonic and phoenix circuits have completely shut down.
As my vision normalizes I can see the disaster I have caused in front of me.
The entire landscape is partially frozen and partially on fire.
A huge crack in the landscape, starting at my feet, reaches kilometers into the distance.
At some points it is multiple meters wide.
And that was caused by nothing but the side effects of my technique.
The energy released by the attack was all directed perfectly towards the Templar, none of it touched my surroundings.

I turn around, still in slow motion.
He must be dead. Please be dead.
As I turn I notice my katana burning in a bright blue flame.
It is vibrating at an immensely high frequency, emitting a very high pitched tone.
No other material would ever have been able to contain the energy needed for this attack.
It was forged using parts of my dragonic and phoenix energy,
designed specifically to be able to hold these forces for short periods of time.

And then I see him, turning around as well.
      Our eyes meet.
      He is not dead.
And he is angry. Properly mad.
He swings his fully intact staff back into an attack position.
      We are so screwed.

But then, a flicker of hope.
The chest plate of his armor shatters and drops to the ground revealing a long cut reaching all the way from his shoulder to his abdomen.
But even though the wound is deep, no blood is coming out of it.
      He is clearly wounded though.
      But so am I.

My aura took quite a hit. It wasn't him though.
Even though I controlled both energies perfectly I still damaged my aura.
But the damage is low and mostly superficial.
Small arcs of lighting are shooting across my body because of it.
I'm still operating my aura at the absolute maximum. The arcs are caused by energy leaking out of the tiny damaged spots.

But then all the hope I just gathered vanishes.
A second Templar emerges from a portal.
And the first one doesn't even seem to be in that bad of a shape after my attack.
We need to run. We need to run now.
      But I don't know how.

Energy emerges from below the ground. Yes! There's still a chance.
During the short downtime Yuya managed to collect a huge concentration of water below the ground and cast her Leviathan.
It bursts out from below the ground and both the Templars disappear within it.
An attack of truly godlike proportions.

But this won't be enough time. It'll buy us maybe a tenth of a second, not enough to cast my phoenix wings and get us out.
I need to buy more time.
I blink towards Yuya and summon the huge phoenix wings on my back, and focus as much phoenix energy as I can.
I will block a single attack.
This should provide enough time for Yuya to draw a portal.
Maybe portaling will buy us enough time for me to use the phoenix teleportation, which they cannot follow.
This is one of the situations where it is truly advantageous that we share our thoughts.

I stand strong before her, surrounding us with a divine energy shield.
I'm putting all the force that I have left into it.
Yuya is casting a portal on the ground in the mean time.
Point one of a second... come on!

A beam of light breaks the Leviathan body and hits my energy shield hard.
      A purely energy based attack.
The ground around is disintegrates under the force.
Only the parts within my shield remain intact.
But I won't be able to hold this for the tenth of a second we need.
      It will collapse too early.

I start shrinking it to conserve energy.
Right now it is encompassing my huge phoenix wings. I won't need those to survive.
I shrink it all the way down until it only protects our bodies.
My wings burn to ashes as they touch the outer limits of the shield.
It hurts. It hurts so much.
How long can a tenth of a second last?

My wings are nearly completely gone now.
We are kneeling, the shield diameter is down a meter and a half.
And then finally the portal forms below my feet and we fall through.
We enter the wormhole created by the portal.
Blood from my broken wings streams into it.

      It goes far... very far.
Yuya casted a portal towards a location much farther away than I've ever been.
This might buy us the time we need.
We emerge from the other end of the wormhole, onto a barren planet.
I immediately summon the phoenix wings on my left arm and try to make us enter the fabric of space and get us home.
Yuya nearly collapses under the exhaustion of having casted this portal right after the Leviathan.

The wings materialize and I can sense our bodies shifting into the fabric.
Both Templars appear out of nowhere closely in front of us.
But this will work. This is enough time.
The wound I caused on one of them is already in the process of healing.
      What the fuck? How... ?
The other one smiles at me.

"Run little dragon! Run! We will get you soon enough!"

      Followed by a maniacal laughter.
Finally we disappear into the fabric of space and are transported to Haven.
As we emerge, we drop to the ground exhausted.
My entire body is shaking, either from fear or because I pushed my body too far, I'm not sure.

"I'm sorry. I thought we had more time."

I knew it would happen. Somewhere deep within I knew it would happen after I fought the first one of them.
He was weaker, sort of a run-away or something, no longer obeying the Templar collective.
I never imagined that the others would be so much more powerful.

"I need to become stronger... much stronger."

She looks at me in a very sad way.
I have never seen her sad before. She is always so happy and full of energy.

"I'm so sorry. I did not bring you back for this, I don't want you to have to fight again."
"Of course you didn't. But it is inevitable. I will have to fight. I will have to fight again."
"If this is what it takes to be here again then I will fight... "

I look at my still shaking hands.
I am so strong already. So immensely powerful.
Yet, I still stand no chance against them, no chance whatsoever.
Not even in a two on one fight.
I think about the journey ahead of me.
I'm going to need help... I'm going to need a lot of help...
    10. The School of Magic Kids

by , 10-23-2011 at 08:59 AM (The Dream Magic Experiment)
I was thinking of traveling to a nearby island via boat. I was on the beach. I saw... me. A statue, or a frozen me. My lower half was that of a fish. I was frozen blue. I didn't recognize myself, and I looked for the perpetrator.

I recall some people. I felt I couldn't trust them. Was there a fight? I was using some powers.

I rode a black dragon to school. Seems like kids there use powers as well, and some use pretty cool rides. Night. I rode a younger dragon to school. We chased some bad guys. I found his parent, and left to him the chasing of the bad guys. They were defeated, but the young dragon only has 2 hit points left, and retreated.

A school. Our school. I looked around and found some of my "missing" or "left" notes. There are experiments in alchemy and various devices. I then realized that someone tried to create a device there. I recall some clan members being there. Threat? I gathered my notes, and presented a new(?) device to the professor which involves coffee.

I went to the front of the school, and something attacked my ride. He responded by a fiery breath. I jumped to the ground, and saw one fiery baby Moltres (no discernable part; it's all fire in the rough shape of a bird), and an egg. I seem to recall that there was a fight here between a phoenix and another monster (not sure if it was the Moltres). Seems like the egg is not breaking up, so I helped the phoenix out.

They transform easily into humans, and they were already quite big kids in human form. The young phoenix (in human form now) said that he didn't need help. I apologized for my impulsiveness, although the phoenix wasn't really mad. He's a young boy, and the Moltres a young girl. We were riding a jeep. We were in a stopover in Saravia. The young dragon (still in his black dragon form) landed on the jeep and peeked over into the car. His "voice" sounded male as well. I forgot what he said, but it seems he was asking the two demi-humans something.

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I woke up in the early morning and told myself I wanted to have a nice lucid dream.

I was walking in a big field. I was away from home and from the busy civilization.

I turned lucid spontaneously. The dream went crystal clear. As usual, I took a flight to make sure the dream was stable. It was a very hot day and the sky was dark blue. Not one single cloud. I could feel the heat from the sun beams in my face... I really enjoyed this flight until I saw a young dark haired female DC.

She approached at me and asked me to take a flight with her. We did take a flight, and suddenly, we appeared right in front of a castle. The castle looked medieval, so I figured we could have time traveled.

As we approached the castle, the sky got darker, until it was night. The entrance of the castle had a regular door, instead of the huge hatches castles have. When we entered, I saw a big bazaar. There was a lot of stuff to sale, the aisles were very tight. But I did not focus on this. There was a battle going on within the gardens of the castle.

I wanted to join the fight, but not in human form. I thought it would be cool if I morphed into a phoenix. I realized that morphing is not my big thing in a dream, and turning into a whole phoenix could be kind of hard.

I visualized flames around me and wings. Suddenly, I saw myself as a phoenix. I was flying over the gardens. These had a big pool in the very middle and I could see my reflection.

I then visualized fire coming out from my body into the soldiers. I saw right away all the soldiers runing in dispair. I could see they were in flames. I also saw how the gardens were burning down and even, some flames were in the pool, still burning.

After a few minutes, I found myself running out of fire, but I could lit myself up again.

A while later, when no more soldiers were running around, I found myself in my regular body.

After that, I had some plot with a lady and trying to have sex, without lucidity, and with little recall from here.
    12. Family Reunion, Fighting Planes and False Phoenix Flight

      by , 09-01-2011 at 11:15 AM
      non-lucid - Notes - lucid

01-09-11 We are going to the family reunion. Besides the family there are a lot of other characters attending as well and rather than the first week of September it is for an entire week.

I seem to be packing quite a lot and spending time in the bath room.

      Skip.

on day 3-4 everyone is getting tired of it. In particular Minka, who has made an arrangement to drive home with her parents (this is odd, since she they aren't the family). She leaves for a while and comes back dressed in a short pink dress and she looks an awful lot like Paris Hilton fashion wise.

It is raining however, so she looks kinda sad about this since it will mean changing outfit again, but she seems packed and ready to go.

I see her mother dancing down the hallway and they are the first family to have proclaimed that they are leaving.

The younger crew of the various families within family seems to be getting reckless and I decide to go and pack up so we can go quickly if my parents decide to bail.

The rest of the young crew are lying around either in the hallway or in rooms. There is a general consensus to go to the bar on the opposite side of the road, but no one seems to be taking initiative.

      Skip.

I am talking to my cousin about something related to leaving.

My sister is talking, she doesn't want to be their either but she explains that it is nice to see the family join up together setting aside selfish consideration to see her daughter.

I am at an airbase watching Stoffer fly around in a fighter jet. The plane is completely white. He has rented it with a mate for a day as it is the cheapest of the planes available.

I am going up there with him and he is explaining that he intends to do a loop, which I am looking forward to.

As he is coming in for landing and driving towards the spot where he has to pick me up, he makes a weird turn that almost tips over the plane and make the wings hit the ground. He asks his mate to check if something happened, but it seems fine.

He gestures me to get in and I am getting in next to him. I tell him that I find that rather weird as normally I would sit behind him (yeah my plane knowledge is lame ^^)

We start driving around and to be frank all I really remember is driving the plane through something like a race course. At one point we come up to two rocks and Stoffer tries frantically to turn it into the larger gap and I scream at him to take the smaller to avoid making the wings tip towards the ground and potentially hit the larger rock.

We make it to the air though I think, but I only remember pulling back up to the base and getting out asking Stoffer if he really did the loop with me.

      “Yes” he replies.

Rasmus SL gets in the plane and I think I spend some time talking to Kasper.

      I wake up.

I am in Germany at the camping grounds where my grand parents live part times of the year. It is dark early morning on a Sunday and I think about hitting the golf course a few holes in so I wouldn't have to pay the green fee.

I am speaking to a pro who is talking about hitting the course early and I reconsider maybe only hitting the approach/putting green instead.

I sense something is up pretty much from the start and as I am walking towards the lake in the camping grounds/golf course I decide to look at my hand. It doesn't look weird at first, but I decide to keep looking and all of a sudden half of my pinky disappears and reappear almost immediately.

I think about what to do and I have been trying too hard to get to Chichén Itzá maybe. Maybe people would get tired of me filling up the journal with crap on non-attempt nights.

So I decide to fool around. Well I could justify my efforts as trying to master a petite form of shape shifting, at least in the beginning of the dream.

I take off into flight and at the same time trying to imagine myself engulfed in flames. The idea is to create a hybrid between the human torch and a phoenix. This particular shape is then to be used with its inherent capability of scorching the area it flies over. In other words I am trying to become a fiery tool for laying waste.

It doesn't go too well. There is no fire appearing and I don't sense a temperature increase, but the first minute or more is spent just flying around trying to think of fire and how it would be looking out from the inside of a fire.

The closest I get is at one point where in my left field of vision a red glowing metal string appear (like the ones in a bread toaster). After this I give up.

I land and start walking around thinking about what to do. I walk across a road and a car is speeding towards me. I just plant my feet in front of it and decide to stand my ground. The car hits me, though it seems to do so very slowly. It's rear starts lifting off the ground until it moves in an arch above me and land on the ground.

I decide to hone my telekinetic abilities a bit and pick up the car mentally and throw it away. In the direction I threw it there is a shop with quite a lot of cars parked outside. I pick up two of these, one on either side of me and hold them spinning slowly in mid air before I throw them through the shop windows pretty controlled. Check, first time for holding two objects at the same time in opposite ends of my field of vision.

I pick up another two cars and pull them towards me mentally and grab them in my hands when they get close and slam them together.

I look up and see elevated train tracks. There is a train coming in fast on this meandering track and I decide to try getting on it. I sort of know it is a dream and I could just fly, but I do something else. I throw the first car up in the air over a sign (made of concrete and fairly tall). I jump onto the sign and as the first car is almost at the ground now I throw the other one up above me and jump onto it and immediately jumping off it again so I get to the train and manage to grab hold of an edge on it's roof.

I swing myself up on the train, which obviously is moving at tremendous speed. I jump onto it and start surfing it towards the train station (I somehow get a feeling that I have already been there). Towards the station there is a sharp turn and the train has to go into a tunnel. Although I am tempted to jump off not to get smashed I hold my grounds and follow the train a bit into the tunnel before jumping off.

I fall down and grab hold of a metal rod running along the tunnel. and start swinging along it as a monkey. Then I land on the ground and starts walking outside when I see a black man with two children walking down towards me. One of the children is walking on his right hand side and the other is in a child carrier.

I struggle a bit getting past them without running into them. I think it is funny I am considering their well being although I know I am dreaming.

      ...

Night time mentation: The Lucid is the first dream I recall from the night. When I then try and fall back to sleep after the dream there is this notion that I am experiencing the world from 6 different caskets, with six different names.

Sometimes I get pulled back to a central POV, but it is somehow different. Though I know I am lying with my head up against the wall I feel my consciousness reaching out in a huge bubble around me through the walls and bed.

Then I would feel the six caskets again and while my awareness either dwell on these or is transitioning between them I sense a powerful feeling of being loved. As if someone “else” is in these caskets sending positive vibes towards and through me.
    13. The grand library of Teraluna - the history of the dream plane

      by
      Hyu
      , 06-21-2011 at 05:28 AM (Hyu's Adventures)
Been pretty sick lately and my dream recall hasn't been very good.
I had quite a few dreams, some lucid, but the lack of details made them feel unworthy of posting.

I'm walking on the promenade in Haven on Teraluna.
Enjoying the fresh air, I walk towards one of the main streets on my way to Yuya's place.
On the main street I go up a level, ending up one level below the topmost one, with all the houses and apartments.
This level features mostly shops and restaurants, I sometimes come here with Yuya for dinner.
It's dusk, so the city is quite lively.

I pass a shop that sells flowers and I wonder if I should buy some for Yuya.
They're all on display outside, so I wander a bit around having a look at the different kinds of flowers.
Some don't look like flowers at all, and some are clearly alive.
They're all very beautiful and they have a distinct smell.
I suddenly realize that I have no money, how am I going to pay for these?

Wait, what? WTF! I'm on Teraluna! How did I not notice that I'm dreaming?
This surprises me quite a bit and it takes me a few seconds to settle down.
The dream feels very stable and vivid, but I still rub my hands and try to feel the presence of my surroundings to make
that the dream remains perfectly stable.

Looking back at the flowers I see one that is immensely beautiful.
The colors somewhat match those of Yuya's eyes, I feel they would be an appropriate gift.
I ask the lady selling the flowers:

"Would you be willing to trade something for these flowers?"
"Haha, of course young man, what did you have in mind?"

I summon my phoenix wings on my left arm and remove one of the smaller colorful feathers from it.
They fall out occasionally, it'll grow back.
I hand it to the lady.

"How beautiful! Please, take the flowers, thank you!"

      That went well.
I take the flowers and continue walking towards Yuya's place.
I think about how this dream started on Teraluna, even though I was non-lucid.
Then I realize I'm wasting time.
I can see a bridge crossing from this street to another one on the level above me, I'll be able to see Yuya's place from there.
I blink on top of it, and from there I blink to Yuya's place.

Yuya greets me, telling me that I'm right on time. Did we set a meeting?
      I hand her the flowers.

      "They're for you."

She seems extremely happy. I am yet again surprised by the way she shows her emotions.
She simply doesn't hold back at all. It feels so pure, I've never seen anyone with such a happy expression in waking life.
Yuya puts the flowers in some sort of vase.
I notice that the dream doesn't feel as stable anymore, and I attempt to re-stabilize which succeeds.

"Alright, I promised you we'd visit the library, let's go!"

The library? Did we talk about this in a previous dream?
Maybe a dream that I cannot remember?
Clearly, I can't recall such a dream, but I am convinced that we did indeed decide to visit a library somewhere on Teraluna.
It must have been a lucid dream I do not remember.
I get ready to draw my wings but Yuya interrupts me.

"Let's fly there! We shouldn't teleport into the library, we might disturb someone."
      "Sure, lead the way!"

I take off and fly next to Yuya, trying to keep up.
She's accelerating fast, I can't keep up without summoning my wings.
I remember that in my last big fight I managed to summon my phoenix wings on my back, in full size.
I wonder if I can do that again and use them for fast flight, just the way I've been using my dragon fire wings until now.

I try to accumulate some of that pure energy and manage to draw the wings on my back.
They're very beautiful and very large. They feel somewhat oversized for my body.
It is VERY easy to fly at high speed with them, much easier than with the dragon wings.
We quickly break the sound barrier and everything becomes very calm.

This is the first time I'm really exploring other parts of Teraluna, usually I just stay in Haven.
      It is beautiful!
There are very high and complex trees growing directly out of the sea.
They must be over a kilometer high each.
We slow down and fly down, through the crowns of the trees.
It is difficult to navigate them due to their complexity.

There are waterfalls in the crowns as well, I wonder where they come from, are the trees emitting water?
We go lower and lower and finally fly through a maze of waterfalls leading to a spectacular entrance.
The entrance is absolutely huge. Fortunately it opens by itself.
Inside there are the same angel statues as in the entrance to Haven.
As I pass under them I feel myself passing through a forcefield.
Makes sense, the library must be protected as well.

I enter the library in amazement, the bookshelves reach into all eternity.
There is literally no end to them. Even zooming in they seem to go on forever.
The library is very well lit, everything is very bright and white.
The shelves are mostly made out of glass.
Materials feel very modern, but some shapes remind me of the Victorian era.

Yuya explains what the different kinds of books are and we wander around a bit.
She shows me quite a few things which I unfortunately cannot quite remember.
Then we come to a rather special shelf.
Yuya tells me there's 1001 books in this shelf.
They all seem very old, and they are huge.
Nearly 1 meter high and very thick, probably 1000 pages each.

They feel very special, there's is something about them that really intrigues me.

"Are we allowed to touch them?"
"Of course, just be gentle, they are very old."

I pick the first of them, it's very heavy.
I gently deposit it on a reading table and open the first page.
The pages are so old... they feel like papyrus, and you can actually see how the paper was weaved.
Everything in them is hand written and hand drawn. They are not printed copies.
It feels sort of amazing touching such an old book, plus the smell is very nice.
The title of the first page is in a language I do not know.
The letters are formed by geometric shapes, but somehow I am able to understand it.

This book is about the beginning... the beginning of... everything?
They all are! Those 1001 books, is this the story of this universe?
The story of the dream plane?

"Yes, they are, are you able to read it?"
"I'm not sure. I cannot understand the individual words or letters, but somehow I understand some of it."

I randomly try to read the first few lines at the beginning of some chapters.
The first one talks about there being nothing but energy.
Some chapters further they talk about the first gods.
I honestly have no idea how I'm understanding any of this.
The numerous images and illustrations help though.

The language used to write these is very powerful though.
A single word carries much more meaning than any languages in waking life.
Considering this, needing 1001 books to describe the history of the dream plane...
it just feels impossible like any single person could ever know the whole story.

"True, but it's not finished yet."
"Not all books have been written yet, after all we're still living the story written in these books."

"Then why are there exactly 1001 books?"
"Because exactly 1001 books are needed to tell the story."
"But, does that mean the dream plane will end once you reach the 1001st book?"
"Not only the dream plane, the planes cannot exist on their own, they all exist together."

I'm very surprised, it is known when existence will end?

"Hyu... the dream plane has existed for eternities, long before Earth was created, long before your universe was formed."
"That being said, we've barely filled 400 books."
"We cannot even comprehend for how long things have existed until now, so there is no reason to worry about any ending."

      "True..."

I browse through some more pages in amazement.
Somehow I understand that this language is very ancient and was meant to be universal.
I think I am able to interpret some of it due to the divine phoenix powers, but I'm not sure.
I end up getting lost in thoughts and wake up...

I had to get up early this morning to see a doctor because I hurt one of my toes and it got infected, so I only got ~5 hours of sleep last night.
After getting back from the appointment, I was just lying in my chair watching an online stream of someone playing SC2.
I was really tired, to the point where I was unable to really focus on the stream, plus my toe was still hurting which was annoying.
I just leaned back and started dozing off. I noticed the sensation of falling asleep and randomly decided that I'll try to WILD...

... I start seeing through my closed eyelids, I must have entered a dream.
I get up and notice that I was sitting on the couch, even though I was on my chair when I was awake. Weird.
I look at my toe because it is still hurting a bit, but the pain is different.
There is no longer a bandage around it, in fact, it looks perfectly healthy.

I investigate my aura and can clearly see that there are repairs going on in my toe region.
It looks really interesting, like broken stings that are webbing themselves together again.
I hold my left hand over my toe, summoning my phoenix wings, to see if I can somehow accelerate the healing process.
Some energy is flowing from my hand towards my toe, but in all honesty I have no idea what I'm doing.
Sure, I know that phoenix abilities includes healing, but I have no idea how to do it.

Not really sure what to do, I decide to summon Faye.
I call out her name, but nothing happens.
I realize that just calling out her name is not enough, I have to actually mean for her to appear.
I do it again, this time wishing for her to come to me, and she appears in front of me.
      She looks different yet again.

      "Hey!"
"Hi Hyu. I brought you your Yo-yo."

      Right! The Yo-yo!
She gives it to me and I look at it closely, touching the wooden surface.
It looks very simple and old-fashioned.

      "Does it do anything?"
      "Of course it does!"
"So, how do you use it?"
      "I suppose just like a normal Yo-yo."

      Makes sense.
I attach the string to my right middle finger and launch the Yo-yo towards the ground.
It remains at the bottom of the string, spinning wildly and making some noise.
Nothing special happens, which surprises me a bit.

"Huh? What does it do then, it doesn't seem to be special."
She replies with a serious attitude:

"Well, it spins Hyu. It spins."

I look at Faye. She starts laughing hysterically.

      "You're such a troll!"

      After that I wake up.
What's up with the trolling lately? oO

I am walking aimlessly over a big field.
      Something feels completely wrong.
I can't quite put my finger on it, but I am a bit scared.
Somehow the whole experience is a bit frightening even though it shouldn't be.
I have a feeling like the color is being drawn out of the world.
I don't like this at all.

Fortunately I then realize that I'm dreaming, but that scares me even more...
Usually whenever I get that sort of nightmare feeling, which I have right now,
it goes away immediately after I become lucid, but this time, it doesn't.

Suddenly, I feel a very scary presence behind me.
I am nearly too afraid to turn around to face it, but I end up doing it.
There's a man. Even though he's dressed in white, he's dark... so very dark.
It's his presence, it is his urge to kill me, I can feel it... so strongly.

He's wearing a white and silver armor with a white coat and he is wielding a very large polearm.
      He approaches me slowly.
Why am I so afraid of him?

He calls me by a name that I do not know, but it is clearly meant for me, and I have no doubt that I am the person he is looking for.
He also calls me a dragon and a dream warrior and claims he is a paladin himself.

"You shall die by my hand in the name of the lord."

I am so fucking scared. I don't know what to do, I feel completely helpless.
He takes his polearm and charges me. FUCK!

Somehow my body reacts by itself.
The dragon within me awakens, or rather explodes. I have never powered up even remotely this fast.
I instinctively summon my katana trying to block the inevitable hit.

I black out for a second as he hits me...

The land is on fire. I am fully charged up. My aura burns, the sky is red and the clouds are burning.
I am so afraid, afraid to die. I don't care if I use too much power, I just want to survive somehow.
He keeps attacking me relentlessly, and I am only barely able to dodge and block his hits. Everything happens so fast.
The moves I use are not my own, my body reacts instinctively, and I know if I interrupt this I will die, if I think, I will die.

"Do you know how we kill dragons?"

He activates some device on his polearm and my katana dematerializes in my hand and rematerializes in a holster attached to his polearm.

"You dragons are helpless without your weapons."

      Fuck... FUCK!
He walks towards me slowly. He knows without my katana I don't stand a chance, there's no need for him to rush.
      I'm so afraid.
In my desperation I call out into the fabric of space and scream as loudly as I can:

      "YUYA!!!"

He's getting closer and closer, just a few more steps.
      Finally, he strikes, slowly...

But right before his polearm hits me, I hear the sound of a metallic collision.
I look up. Another man is standing in front of me, blocking the polearm with his sword.
He looks at me over his shoulder.
I know this man. I know him so well...

Silver! It is Silver! A man from my childhood dreams, a friend in combat, just like Yuya and Selene.
Then I see Yuya, she is here as well. They must have arrived at the same time.
However, they clearly appeared independently, because Yuya is quite surprised to see Silver and even calls out his name in amazement.

      Silver looks at me.

      "Fight!"

What a simple word, but such complexity behind it.
Suddenly I am no longer afraid. I am no longer alone.
The nightmare feeling disappears and the paladin takes a few steps back.

"You're friends of the dragon. All of you will die. No one opposes the lord."

Silver puts a hand on my shoulder:

"He's a paladin. Paladins kill dragons."
"Now take back your sword, you have the power to cast it into the void."

I order my katana to be cast back into the fabric of space and summon it again, and sure enough I'm holding it in my hand.
The paladin doesn't seem too surprised, he's confident that he can take on all three of us at the same time.

"Well done dragon. By asking your friends for assistance you have signed their death warrant."
"Dragons are horrible creatures. How you are able to make friends is beyond me, all of you must die."

I am angry. He is blinded by his beliefs, he has no idea what it means to be a dragon.
He is committing genocide without understanding anything.

"You are but a fool following a false god."
"A man who only believes but does not try to understand is nothing."

The paladin seems furious because I called his lord a false god.

Even with the power of all 3 of us combined, we only seem to be on even terms.
But it feels just like old times, like in my childhood dreams where I would fight together with Yuya Silver and Selene.
We fight together so well, like a perfect choreography.
Silver and I both use our swords and direct energy attacks, whereas Yuya uses her water magic.
But somehow, it just isn't enough.

Yuya is clearly struggling, and I am very worried for her. If something happens to her it will be my fault.

"First I will kill your girl. I will kill her slowly. And I will make you watch."

I can see fear in Yuya's eyes after hearing that.

      Suddenly, my mind is blank.
      I am calm. Perfectly calm.
It is the calm you experience when your anger is so strong that somehow you drop back into a state of calm.

      "Stop."

Silver and Yuya stop, not doubting my request for a second.
I drop my katana to the ground and cancel all of my dragonic energy.

"You fool. Are you sacrificing your self?"
"There is but one fool here."

I power back up, but not on dragonic energy.
I use the same energy I use to summon my phoenix wings, a much more pure and divine power.
My phoenix wings appear, but not on my hand this time.
They appear on my back and they are huge and colorful.
This power is so very different from the dragonic one.

I look into the paladins eyes and take a step forward.
For some reason I am right in front of him now, I have no idea how I managed to approach him so fast,
      and clearly neither does he.
With my right hand I reach into the body of the paladin and grab onto his very soul and pull it out.
It feels like an ability I can only use if I truly believe that a person deserves to die, if there is no doubt whatsoever in my mind.
His body drops to the ground dead.

I look into the eyes of the helpless soul I hold in my hand.

"Wherever you may go, let it be known that if anyone in the whole of existence threatens my love again, I will hunt them down."
"I don't care if they are paladin, I don't care if they are king or even if they are god. I will hunt them to beyond the planes of existence and I will crush them with my bare hands."

I watch his soul burn away in purple flames as I crush it with my hand.
      My anger finally disappears.
I can't believe how angry I just was.

I hold out my hand to Silver and he shakes it.

      "Thank you."
      "So long."

      He turns around and vanishes.
He has always been a man of few words and I have a feeling I will not see him again anytime soon.

The rest of my memories of this dream are quite foggy.
Why did I call Yuya "my love"?
Was she really my lover, or did I love her as a friend I trust with my life?

This was also remarkably scary for a lucid at first, but it turned out quite amazing.
