    False Awakening

    1. 00:00 Saturday 2014-03-08 competition #17 night #8, LD #24 (FA)

23:50 bedtime, a bit late but OK

      00:00 Saturday 2014-03-08 competition #17 night #8, LD #24 (FA)

      05:15

      1) flying in to Country1, I'm flying over landscape, I land in a large building complex up high. The Country1's have set a trap for me, but Country2's commandos have prepared a way out for me. I make my way back through Country2's front lines and clasp hands with a young Country2 officer and exchange some words of greeting/thanks.

      2) Calling S2 on the phone. I'm on a tent on the lower level, and S2 is sleeping in a tent on the upper level on an out door platform. Then my wife and I are going to go to him and check on something, to check on his reading progress, I try to call him while I"m walking up the stairs with my wife to give him a head's up that we're coming to him. We reach him and he tells us the books he read are on the table under the coins. There are about 4 books on the table and a 5 inch tall stack of coins are placed on top of them. One of the books is really think. He said he'd just read portions of that one.

F1) I'm calling someone and saying that the weed was AMAZING (IWL I don't touch drugs, weird), that was some AMAZING stuff!

F2) buying a Honda and waiting for it, other people are waiting for cars to emerge from a building where they've bought them.

      F3) S2 is with his friend S, S2 has his shirt off, he's air-chopping with a katana, S is telling S2 he's doing a good job.

      Can't get back to sleep.

06:00 out of bed, eat breakfast
      07:00? BTB

      between 08:00-09:00?

      3) FA LD #24. I'm in and out of sleep, dozing for a long time, seeing dream images start to work and then fade away, I see several times what appears to be a wall of bathroom tiles, so I imagine I'm in a shower or the bathroom. Eventually I get up to use the bathroom, I'm using the toilet in a bathroom where the walls are white tiles, after finishing I turn away and head towards the door at the opposite wall, my head feels really heavy/dizzy/drowsy I think I should get right away back to bed and I'll certainly lucid dream. I realize this is not my bathroom, this is a false awakening, I'm dreaming, then I'm awake.

      11:44

F4) Horror Hotel -- I'm walking around a bed trying to make it and pull the sheets across, the staff are talking amongst themselves and saying that they can't imagine that I would be staying here after I've heard all the stories. I think I should go farther on down the road to the next hotel.

F5) Singing up the mountain. I'm walking up the mountain in a big group, I break out into a strong song. I think my voice is pretty good but not perfect.

      4) Battling the cyber demon, sliced leg. Lightsaber trident I'm showing it off to a woman before the fight, it has a long shaft, I ignite the blades, they're lightsaber power blades curved like horns of a bull in the shape of a trident they're white. In the fight some guy slices me on my left leg on the side /back just above the knee, I reach down to feel the wound it doesn't hurt, am I bleeding? but I feel a long cut I can't tell how bad it is I look to my hand and I see blood but not a lot it's not pouring out like I thought it might be.

F6) dance with the really tall celebrity women. I have a view like standing partly up a stairway looking down. Very thin/tall women are dancing (and doing handsprings?) in a big room.

      5) french crinkle fry / dinner suggestion they say what to eat, I'm on a diet dipping a crinkle fry into ketchup and eating it then want to go out I'll go to keep company but won't eat much. They decide that they're just going to order to go, and I say "no, never mind then" and I leave the group and head towards the door.

Lots of detail lost here, there's a ton more action that's just beyond grasp.
    2. Competition Thread #17 night 5 & 6

      by , 03-13-2014 at 01:41 PM
      Tuesday night: 1 fragment= .5
      Wednesday night: 1 dream = 1 pt.
      1 fragment = .5
      successful WBTB = 3 pts.
      Lucid= 5 pts.
      successful RC = 1
      Successful stabilize= 2pts.
hand through a solid object = 4 pts
move completely through solid object= 8 pts.
Total for tuesday and wednesday = 25 pts

      Lucid on Wednesday:
I went to bed at 9 p.m. I woke up at 2 a.m. and fell back asleep at 4:30 a.m.
I am at a "school" which is in appearance my grandfather's house. It is fulll of people. Looking out a window,I see some threatening people approaching. I sneak out the back door and lie down in the gravel driveway, playing dead. My brother appears and tells me that we need to help the people in the school. We enter a house that is alongside the driveway, looking for something to use to defend the people in the other building. I climb a flight of stairs (the interior of this house appears like a barn). There are throwing darts (from the game) stuck in the steps. I pick them out as I climb the steps. At the top of the steps I see someone who looks as I did when I was about 12, doing something on a strange looking computer. There is something weird about the perspective. Thinking about this, I realize I am dreaming. Lucid, I state "I am dreaming" i Look at my hand to RC, it is very distorted. I have one thick central finger with little crumpled fingers growing out from each side. I rub my hands together to stabilize the dream. It feels like I am rubbing my hand on sandpaper. I feel "heat" from the "friction". I look around and the scene has changed. I am in a bedroom. One wall has blue wallpaper with white dots on it. The other walls are painted light yellow. There is a window. I remember my goal to push my hand through a solid object. I push both hands through the glass in the window pane. They pass cleanly through. I decide to crawl through the window. I bend down and push my head, shoulders, and torso through the pane of glass. When my head enters everything turns grey and indistinct. After passing through the window I am in bed. It is the guest room at my grandmother's house. I think I have woken up. I do a quick RC, looking at both hands. They are tiny, like a dolls hands on the end of my normal arms. I am still dreaming. I try to get up from the bed, but the covers are really heavy and moving is difficult. I wake up in my own bed.
    3. The Shadow of the Pagoda

      by , 03-12-2014 at 11:50 PM
Interestingly, this was my second lucid in a row that hit very close to the onset of sleep. I woke up to write this down around 1:15 or so in the morning after being late to bed. I'm not sure what to make of it, but it's definitely encouraging me to continue my pre-bed MILD work!

      Color legend: Non-dream Dream Lucid

Lucid #192: The Shadow of the Pagoda

I’m sitting at a table with some random people, working on something with pen and paper. My mind’s wandering and as I recall my intent to have a lucid dream, I almost immediately pass into one.

From here, I fall quickly into the void. I rub my hands together, expecting a new scene. Before long I emerge into a false awakening in early morning, sort of seated at the edge of my bed. Some kind of suction is drawing me away from the bed and toward our closet. This worries me for some reason and I ask Wife to “Pull me back in…” in this thin, weak voice.

She kneels on the bed and strains forward to reach for me, whimpering and fretting like she wants to help but doesn’t know how. I recognize that I’m starting to get caught up in this sense of powerlessness, and I let go, falling into the void again.

I make my way forward and emerge in a fancy-looking house, facing a set of glass doors that open to a veranda. For reasons I can’t recall, I decided to head deeper into the house and wandered through a series of rooms. The house is attractive but large and confusing and I start regretting my decision to stay inside.

I wind up in a bedroom with a simple but comfortable-looking bed that has a large stuffed teddy bear laying on top of it. Wife is standing off to the side near one corner and I remember to ask her for her middle name (for Task of the Month.)

When I ask for her middle name, she responds, “Ba ba!”

“Your middle name is ‘Ba ba’?”

She laughs. “Oh, sorry! I actually meant ‘Ba ba ba ba’.” I’m amused but I consider asking her a third time. The teddy bear catches my eye for a moment and when I turn back Wife has vanished. I think about asking the teddy bear for its middle name but decide instead that it’s time to move on.

I leave and walk through a dining hall where my son “E” joins me and starts to follow. I say something to him that I can no longer recall and we walk through more confusing rooms. At one point I’m in a dimly-lit kitchen and notice that my vision has gone blurry. I stare at my hands to draw out the detail and it works pretty well, though not as completely as I might have hoped.

I walk through another dining hall with E and as we’re exiting, the door shuts automatically behind me, cutting me off from him. I see him through the door as it closes and I feel a moment of concern that I’ve left him behind. No, let it go. I continue to a series of glass-panelled doors at the rear of the room and phase through, with some minor difficulty.

I emerge from the phase in a shady courtyard. Towering above me is an immense pagoda, stretching far away into the sky. Even in a dream I’m amazed by how tall and broad it is, far out of scale with everything else surrounding it. It’s at least 500 feet tall and dominates the landscape.

Two women walk by at the other end of the courtyard, casually chatting. They look like they’re from the 1900s, each wearing a large hat and carrying a parasol. I contemplate taking off for some flying and exploration, but
      the dream ends.
    4. RPGs, Missed Lucids, and False Awakenings

      by , 03-12-2014 at 06:03 PM
      Dream 1

I was in a town when I became spontaneously lucid. I grabbed a beautiful woman that I was talking to and took her flying over the ocean, but I couldn't fly that well. Ended up flying under a pier and the woman turned into a bird. Large waves came, bird flew away, I woke up.

      Dream 2

False awakening, dreamed that I wrote down a very early morning dream where I was lucid, don't remember that dream sadly

      Dream 3

Got into a battle in this dark side of town. There was one closet that had a zombie warrior inside of it, didn't want to open it so I kept exploring. I found something even worse, a chest that was shaking because a demon warlord was trying to break free. I opened the chest and ran like hell. He chased me for a couple minutes before I woke up.

      Dream 4

Another false awakening where I was in the bathroom peeing. The toilet moved and I thought that was pretty damn weird. Ignored it and went back to bed anyways.

      Dream 5

Back in the battle with the demon warlord, but this time it was just a game and it was paused. My mom was playing it for some reason but she gave me the controller and I was supposed to do an infinite combo to kill him. I failed and only did one hit on him and then got destroyed.

      Dream 6

My sisters cats had escaped to the outside. I kept catching them and bringing them back inside but they started to walk through the wall to get outside. Then they started replicating so there were 3, then 4 of them. Then 3, 4 of the same dog. Had to decide which was the real one. Decided that one of them, JUST ONE of them was a clone. Talk about the worst ways I've missed becoming lucid.

      Dream 7

Ninja Dream! I was exploring an abandoned taco bell when I went under a table to get to a secret area. There was a back room filled with ancient beings with mysterious powers. They really hated cell phones, they would hiss at anybody that had a cell phone out. Night had fallen and ninjas began attacking, so I took my ninja team that appeared and we battled them on buildings and in secret rooms. After a long, drawn out battle, the sun rose and the ninjas went back to their houses. I went looking for them so that we could continue our fun but I found they were just neighbor children that had to go to school. Damn.
    5. Competition #17 Night 3

      by , 03-10-2014 at 05:28 PM
      One dream:

Jim and Andy ("According to Jim") are playing a round of beer pong. While Jim is drinking wine (actually Goon) from cups, Andy drinks beer from cans. Jim hasn't hit a single can yet, while Andy has only three left. Jim complains about Andy cheating, since some of his cans are closed and he can't put the ball inside.

      One fragment:

An ex-colleague of mine wants to visit me and calls while she is on the way to my house. False Awakening: I'm in some kind of office and wonder why my ex-colleague hasn't arrived yet. I call her, she picks up and says in a sleepy voice: "Hello?" I immediately hang up and think that I just woke her and that she is not coming to my place, since it was just a dream before. She calls back but I don't pick up. I decide to send her a text later, explaining what happened.

    6. Dream plan achieved! Flew and talked to a dream character! TOMT attempt

      by , 03-10-2014 at 01:42 PM
      3/10/14

      Awake at 7:20 am

Brushed teeth, went to the bathroom, hugged husband goodbye.

A little afraid to fall back to sleep and have a FA. I remind myself I need the sleep and this is the way I can achieve my lucid dream.

I visualize my dream plan and pray to God I have a lucid dream and fly. It didn't take long for me to fall asleep.

      8:05 am MILD

I had a dream that I had a FA, but was scared and "woke up" but really it was another FA.

I went out my living room door, reminding myself that I'm going to try to fly. Some sort of cart in the hallway. Then I go outside to a playground/baseball field. I attempt flying many times with little success, so I use the things around to push myself up. Then finally, I'm dog paddling and swimming high in the air! I land and remind myself I need to stabilize the dream. So I rub my hands together. Then flew over to a dream character. There were three male dream characters. This one in particular looked like a past high school classmate of mine with brown hair and kind of a jock. I remembered the task of the month and asked him, "What's my middle name?" He replied, "Windy," took my hands and flew with me in the sky. (I got the task of the month wrong! Ha. I'm supposed to ask what his middle name is!)

At one point I travel down the sidewalks. With each step I float a little down the sidewalk. There are skaters on the sidewalk, one a young girl. I wonder if people who fly in dreams have the same stigma as people who skate in waking life.

I go back to my apartment, remembering that I need to wake up. I struggle to. At one point, my grandma enters the dream. I tell her I need to wake up. I go back to my bed and reach for my dream journal to try to write my dream down, but it doesn't work, I just barely write scribbles. Somehow, I'm hoping that in waking life I'm also writing things down, it never occurs to me in my FA that what I do in the FA is not affecting the waking world. It's 1 pm in my dream, I need to get up. Then, I reach over for hand lotion on my side table (though, in real life, this hand lotion is out in the living room), squirt some on my fingers and rub it on my tongue to try to wake myself up. It works, I'm repulsed by the taste and wake up.

Dramatic and passionate music sung by a man throughout the dream. A lot of "ooh, ooh, ooh" vocals.

Finished writing my dream down at 8:18 am.

    7. The Tiny Wise Spy Lady - semi lucid

      by , 03-09-2014 at 10:44 AM
I was asleep on the wrong end of my bed. I remember "waking up" to the sounds of my great grandma talking to my family from the living room. I was way too lazy to investigate. I noticed a strange lady living in my tin toy safe at the end of my bed. She was approximately the size of a mans fist, beautiful, and very confident. She came out of her home whistling , making her way out of my bedroom.

I felt too drawn to her, so I beckoned her to me. To my surprise she did so. However, she kept whistling, which was starting to annoy me. Just as soon as I beckoned her towards me, I sent her away. She began to go towards my door before I changed my mind again and begged her back. All the while she was still listening. The back and forth game happened approximately 3 times before I really annoyed her.

The last time I begged her back, she sighed heavily, stopped whistling, and hit me with this bit of wisdom: "Let people send YOU to places, don't let them do tasks for you. - that's how a good spy does it."

I then gained semi lucidity, but as soon as I became fully aware that a tiny wise spy lady was talking to me, I woke up.

    8. Space time compression and simultaneous perception

      by , 03-08-2014 at 11:19 PM
When I become lucid I am at my childhood neighbor's place. But the inside of the house has transformed into a big hot-spring. Some friends are there. Not the one to whom the house belongs though. I try to convince my friends that we are all sharing a dream, inciting them to become lucid. That first scene alone was quite long but I don't remember all the details. Eventually I decided to try to fly, which is my favorite thing to do when lucid dreaming. By controlling my breathing I begin to float out of the water and up. The roof is gone, leaving a majestic starry sky. My friends are worried. I have it all under control I tell them. I could control my floating flight at will, swiftly falling and rising. I go up. The sky envelops me. Far away I can see the hot-spring. And then it multiplies like a kaleidoscope. It covers all my field of view. The ground folds upon itself and envelops me in a bubble. In its walls I see crazy psychedelic visuals. I am surrounded by the greatest light spectacle I've ever seen.
I wake up. Or maybe the dream continues for a little bit. There was a scene where I kissed a girl in the hot-spring room but I can't quite position it in time. Anyways. I wake up. But not really. I am still dreaming but it takes me a while to realize. I am shocked by the dream I just had so I quickly pick up my diary and start writing it. That dream version of the entry was much more detailed than this one. Everything was really clear in my memory. I could come back to almost every moment, which is odd because I usually have somewhat bad recollection. The memories are so fresh. But I know that they are going to fade away. I wish I had a more concrete proof of the existence of that dream. As that thought crossed my mind a crystal sphere comes out of my mouth. It is the dream, condensed, complete in all its extension. By touching the ball I experience the entirety of the dream as a simultaneous memory.
But then another ball comes out of my mouth. And this one too is a complete dream, only one I have not yet had. In this ball is the complete dream, and I also experience it simultaneously; timeless. Maybe I actually go through the dream and it is only my memory that which was compressed. But then another comes out, and another. I don't remember how many. And each of them was a complete dream. Adventures, movies, epic symphonies. Experienced in a flash. I could perceive the totality of each dream but I wasn't able to retain most of it.
I showed them to my father. I was so happy to have these solid physical memories of so many marvelous dreams.
Eventually what came out of my mouth was not the crystal globes but some kind of jade eggs, vessels, cylinders. The top part comes apart so they can be opened. And when they are they produce a strange sound. Deep, kind of like a whale's. But each is different. Me and my dad play around with these dream instruments. I think by that time I knew I was dreaming again. Eventually the dream lost stability and faded. I don't remember its ending.
    9. Enjoy the Silence

      by , 03-08-2014 at 09:48 PM
One notable thing about this dream was that I had it very close to the beginning of my sleep. Burke's MIT article gave me the idea to do a really determined MILD before bed and it certainly paid off here!

      Color legend: Non-dream Dream Lucid

      Lucid #191: Enjoy the Silence

I’m sitting in an airport terminal, waiting for a flight. A few seats over I spot Kurt Klimanski, a guy who did some lucid dreaming youtube videos several years ago. I think hey, great opportunity to talk about lucid dreaming with someone while I pass the time.

As I’m getting out of my seat to approach him, I notice the dreamlike way that I glide out of my chair and question whether I’m having a lucid dream right now. Hey,
      turns out that I am!

I move toward him but the chairs are all in my way. Mildly annoyed, I float past the chairs and land next to him. “Hey, the guy from the video, right?” I say. Kurt Klimanski looks up. “I’m actually having a lucid dream right now.”

“Oh, okay… cool, man,” he responds, bobbing his head up and down.

He starts talking about something LD-related but I feel myself slipping into the void. I grab for his hand but miss and wind up scrabbling at the carpet. He’s still talking, seemingly oblivious to how hard I’m trying to hang onto the scene. This goes on for a bit but eventually I fall into the void.

I’m relaxed here, though, and adopt a swimming motion to move silently through the darkness. I get the sense of motion and catch imagery that looks like I’m swimming past a series of huge, slowly turning pages in a book.

Then I’m pulled into a false awakening. It’s super realistic, but I have a strong sense that I’m still dreaming. I open my eyes and even feel the sensation of them opening, but I still know it’s all an illusion. I should still have my sleep mask on but I have relatively clear vision of the darkened room around me. Wife sleeps silently beside me.

I look up at the ceiling and see two large, projected circles filled with stars there. The two star circles slowly rotate in opposite directions. The effect is hypnotic and beautiful.

I watch for a good while, surprised that I’m able to maintain this much stillness without the dream falling apart. I almost feel like I’m getting away with something by just sitting here watching. I feel like my dreaming brain still believes that it has me fooled. I lay there for a while enjoying the experience until
the dream ends. This time my eyes open to the pitch blackness of my sleep mask.
    10. Dystopian storage and FA

      by , 03-08-2014 at 09:16 PM (Keitorin's Dream Log)
      3. I’m inside grandma’s house. She tells me she’s made something to eat, and I’m disappointed because I was planning on going home for that, so I could watch what I eat.

While eating, grandma tells me about a dinosaur that was spotted. Me and Rane talk about how we used to see them more when we were younger.

We’re riding in a car down a road, looking out at the woods for signs of the dinosaur. We see a field of black goats, and I say that the dinosaur must not be there because the goats were okay. I say it must have gone off into the woods.

We drive into a town full of houses that look like they were made of cheap kid’s furniture. I say that it seems a shame to waste a whole town [just because the people in it before were forced out for doing something wrong]. Rane reminds me that it’s being used for ‘this’ now.

She seems to be looking for a specific house, mumbling under her breath. She stops and opens a part on one light-colored house. Inside are two envelopes. I think they’re old mail left from when the people left and she’s looking for supplies. This is a dystopia, after all.

She takes one and starts opening it, and I ask if I can open the other, to which she replies that I can.

In her package, there was a bag full of jewelry and things. They were a few heart shaped pieces.

      -Jump-

I’m in a central building there, talking to a little creature (reminds me of Boota from Gurren Lagann – without the glasses of course!). He’s talking to me about what I need to do to get signed up there to store things. Apparently everyone already has a basic account, but you have to make it official by signing a form.

I look around and see relics from before the apocalypse. There are some anime things and even a few ‘gifs’. I contemplate about the less conventional things, like yaoi, what about people who like those things, but then shrug and realize they still have the internet.

We hear someone come in, and I bend down to look under this metal block. I see someone wearing a skirt or dress and assume it’s a woman. The creature seems to know her, and he runs up my body. I instinctively clutch him and he hides against my body. He doesn’t seem afraid though.

Inspiration: Maybe from watching Helix? And I got a package in the mail recently, and Rane gets things sometimes.

      4. Duplicating socks, one was a homemade pair by mom. I thought that duplicated items weren’t as effective as the originals, but seeing the results, I thought it was a really cool idea.

      5. I woke up and all the thoughts of my dreams I’d had were scrambling around my head. I had my iPod Touch, opened up Notes and pressed the + sign. I started making a word-list of things I could remember. One word was ‘eggs’.

…I woke up for real, confused, and realized I’d had a false awakening. And had no idea what the eggs part was about.

Notes: The FA is a great sign! I’m so focused on recall when I first wake up, I only do an RC after I’ve got it all straight in my head. I guess I can only wait and see how it develops from here.

Also, turning to lie on my back instead of sitting up worked well for making sure I got the dreams in my palace, because I can’t get to sleep on my back. After that I just had to keep my thoughts from wandering off so I could focus on putting the dreams in.

Pre Bed Supps: 250mg Valerian 30 mins prior, 100 mg 5htp at bed. Bed @ 1115

      WBTB: 4am Supps: 3mg G, 250 C, 250 Valerian and .5 mel

Routine: Got up and took my Valerian right away to keep me rather calm and hopefully keep me on the sleepy side. Read some old DJ entries and went back to bed 25 minutes later, right before I layed down I took other supps.

Had one non lucid prior to WBTB and didn't have too hard of a time getting back to sleep.

Woke with this around 530 or so but didn't record till around 8 or 9.

I was downstairs in an inside/outside living area. I was lying in a bed and we were either really cleaning up or moving out of our house. My wife was upstairs throwing a bunch of stuff out of a window like papers and whatnot. I told her that it would probably make more sense if the bagged it up there so she didn't have to pick it up twice. She didn't really care for my comments. I layed down in bed to go to sleep with lucidity on my mine (this was in the dream), I woke again (FA) and there was a dog on my head. I ended up laying on the dog and trying to get back to sleep again, still thinking of lucidity. I put my head near the side of the bed and it kept sinking down further and further never ending. I thought that I might be in a dream at this point. I tried to open my eyes but it was very difficult, I could open them a bit but they would clamp back shut. After alot of struggling I got them to stay open but they were fluttering a bit. I fought a bit more and finally got them to stay open. I did a RC with my hand and brought it up to my face but couldn't see it. I tried again and again I couldn't see it. It was like I knew it was there and I should be able to see it but it just wasn't there. I rolled out of bed (didn't even get stuck in the covers this time) and was finally able to see my hands. They looked normal. Oh well, back to bed. I turned to get back in bed and it was now a tan couch now. I checked my hand again and really looked and noticed some awkwardness about them, then I saw the wavyness and the shrinking and growing of the fingers.

LUCID: I didn't study anything like I said I was and just walked over to the side of the room with some cabinets and a refrigerator. I was in a basement of a house, not huge just a single large room and a small bathroom off to the side. I went into the refrigerator since I wanted to try some more food and opened it. On the bottom I saw a can of peanut butter. I grabbed it and took off the lid and got some with my finger from inside the top ring of the container. It wasn't bad actually, tasted nutty at least. I just tasted didn't chew or swallow. I then decided to find some dog biscuits to do the task from last month. I went into one cabinet which had pots and pans. Then I told myself they were in this cabinet and opened a top one and there were a bunch of different bagged items. I went through a few of them not recognizing dog treats and then again I thought they are here in the back. I grabbed a yellow bag and tried to read it but couldn't make anything out. I knew they were either cat or dog treats. This will do. I opened it up and got a handful out. They were shaped as animals, kind of looked like the animal crackers but they had the color of a salami type meat. Pink with some of the white specks riddled through them. I dropped a couple on the floor for the dogs that were by me and then popped one in my mouth. It tasted meaty, nothing amazing or gross, just there really. I then began picking up the mess that I made, wrappers on the counter. I thought this was funny that I was cleaning up and it didn't matter but I kept doing it anyways. I tossed it all in the trashcan in the bathroom. I saw a window and thought to go out it but wanted to find some people to do the St Patties day TOTM on so stayed inside. I did however want to jump through the ceiling to get upstairs. I remember I pictured in my head this failing and it did. I jumped up and went through some of the ceiling tiles and came back down with broken tiles around me. Stairs it is. I headed for the stairs on the other side of the room and started climbing them. I was about half way up when I heard my daughter and wife talking about me liking frosting. Happily I replied "I do like frosting" and before I got to the door to go to the upstairs I woke up.

I was pretty excited I had this lucid that lasted probably 5 to 10 minutes after my previous 5 or 6 have been less than 10 seconds.
    12. So Close!

      Two Nights Ago

I have been put in prison. The prison is really strange, each inmate gets a very small cell about four feet wide by four feet deep by eight feet tall. They are chained to the floor and the bars of the cell... well there are no bars its more like a wire weave from a chain link fence.
I arrive at the prison late in the day. Some of the other prisoners are giving me dirty looks. I simply decide that maybe I can just lay down on the floor of my cell and lucid dream. I lay down and begin thinking my MILD mantra to myself.
After a minute or two, I notice that I am having difficulty falling asleep. I begin to think about why I am in prison and I cannot recall.[/COLOR] Wait a second, I am already dreaming!
False awakening. Into my own room, and it's time to go to school. I get up and change out of my pajamas and into school clothes. I then notice that I am late for school. Wait... I am never late for school! I am still dreaming!
      And I wake up.

      Last Night

I am trying on different pairs of sunglasses. They are all very ugly.

Somebody's house burned down while they were cooking broccoli for dinner. I think it was a family of four. After the fire was put out the fire department took them to the fire station. The family complained that they were hungry and the fire department got some pop-tarts out of their locker. The mom (who was some kind of dietician) demanded that the fireman who was serving them bring them broccoli. So he went to the grocery store and bought a vegetable tray for the family.

      Superhero Prison Break (Groggy Lucid)

I am outside a prison or industrial compound location. It is nighttime and snowing heavily. There is a large chain-link fence around the perimeter of the compound with light posts every 10 meters or so. Beyond the fence it goes to woodland.
I am hiding in the woods. Superman, Batman and Wonder woman are with me, and for some reason, we are preparing to break into the prison to rescue someone. Also, something about this situation seems familiar,
like I might have had a dream about this setup before. And I feel like last time the heroes betrayed me and tried to use a sedative on me and then lock me in the prison.
Just at that moment, Superman tries to grab me from behind. I flip him over me and slam him into the ground. (Guess I have superpowers too.) Batman throws batarangs at me and I blast them out of the air with little fireballs.
Wonderwoman traps me with her lasso. Superman comes in front of me holding the sedation needle in front of my face.

Then for just this moment, I become lucid. And boy did I think quick and clever...
      FUS RO DAH!

Superman goes flying back into one of the light posts on the perimeter of the prison. When he hits it, it bends and partially tips over. The lights flash out on that post. Also, he loses the sedation needle in the snow.
Batman compliments me on my quick thinking and states that he has changed his mind. He wants me to be a part of this team.
I hear alarms in the prison. Guards start rushing out to get us and me and the other superheores set aside the fight and retreat.

    13. Fuck*ng Recall

      by , 03-03-2014 at 12:32 PM
I can barely remember being in the city with a lot of friends, and somehow we had to kill each other to survive, I guess like The Hunger Games. I survived and woke up into another dream, in which I was in the beach with the same friend who didn't kill me. I said to him: 'I just had a dream and you had to kill me haha'. He was with his cousin and we went into the water.
    14. Looking for elves in underhill

      by , 03-01-2014 at 09:58 PM
As Louis, I'm standing next to Lestat and looking down into the hold of a ship. It seems very dark, and I'm remembering a previous incident where he left me trapped somewhere. I tell him, "I've learned," and we're not going to go through that again. He acts exasperated, like I'm being ridiculous, and of course he wouldn't do that to me again, that was centuries ago, don't be so paranoid.

      (Woke up. Back to sleep.)

After trouble trying to talk to my IRL father on the phone - I couldn't hear him clearly, but I also couldn't make the phone disconnect - I'm now meeting him at some event. I'm trying to save four or five seats, but that causes trouble with the people next to me; I get the seats I wanted, but the group of teenage guys sitting next to us are annoyed with me now. The one right next to me puts his feet up on the row of seats in front of us at an angle, crowding into my space, until he's practically in my lap. I call him a gay slur, then immediately wonder why I said that; meanwhile, he backs off and looks hurt. One of the other guys with him starts getting into my face, and at one point he suggests that maybe everyone here is dead - "I'm dead, you're dead, we're all dead," in a sing-song tone. I say to him, sure. Land of the dead, dreams, Underhill, it's all the same thing. Everyone around me has a rather unpleasant look on their face after that, and I think it's because I mentioned that this is a dream; then I think that this only happened because I picked up that expectation from other lucid dreamers. In any case, I get up and walk out of the room into the hall.

Thinking about that Underhill reference, I think it's important that I find elves - they're much preferable to the people who think they're dead - and I look for a door, but this building is built on an open sort of plan, with rooms opening onto each other at strange angles, not easy for me to control. I eventually come around to the back of the building and walk out a door, trying to use the door as a portal and thinking about elves, but feeling like I had only limited success. The door opens onto a stable, and there's a car parked here, and a woman in a ballgown getting into the car with a man who's wearing a uniform indicating he works here. On a closer look, he looks rather elfish. I think about hitching a ride.

Bit of a fragmented memory after that - I don't wind up getting into the car, but me and that guy walked out of that stable and into the woods, where we had some encounter with someone else. False awakening after that: waking up in an unfamiliar bedroom, I get my journal out of my backpack beside the bed and start writing down a dream about a (nonexistent) vampire movie involving that woman in the ballgown; as I was writing I believed it to be based on a real movie.

    15. Dream Concert within a Dream; Home Invasion

      by , 03-01-2014 at 09:35 AM
Morning of March 1, 2014. Saturday.

I am at a wedding (unknown) eventually as part of a band. I am the lead singer and play an acoustic guitar. Three others play. Behind and to my left is someone on a small basic drum kit. Behind and to my right is a bass player. Farther back is someone set up with keyboards including sample players for such as horns if needed. (My dream’s section had repeated with the first song having been done solo by me the first time with no other band members - additional band members appearing is symbolic of going “deeper” into my dream state just as water becoming more and more shallow represents slowly waking from my dream state.) The first song is “Speak to the Sky” with an added four measure intro as well as an additional melodic solo instrumental in the middle and a couple extra verse and chorus events. The next song is “Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da”. The third is by request. A man comes up and asks if we do requests and I say yes. The song is “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes”. It becomes very eventful and almost operatic by the end. There are some nice melodic variations in each song that were not in the original. This is done by shifting the melodic lines up or down, with variations on the chord elements. For example only, C-E-G to E-G-(higher)C (in C Major) or D-D-F to F-F-A (in D minor), using downward variations as well.

Later (or rather right after or even apparently “during” my dream concert), I and my family are together at our home on Barolin Street, though the ages would be wrong for that time (our children are as they are now in reality rather than much younger when we lived there). I am sitting on the couch saying how I had been clearly hearing music (referring to my own dream within my dream). The lyrics were all very clear and correct and I know it is possible to go on for a long time with correct wording in a dream as long as it is somehow related to rhythm or musical memory. I have read stories, even entire novels, in dreams but they do not have the same clarity or stronger dynamics. (Reading an entire novel, though, usually ends with me waking up feeling very stressed and annoyed regardless of the novel itself.)

Soon, there is trouble on the porch. My wife seems to be struggling with someone through the window directly to the right of the doorway. I get one of two large, long metal bars (as I have in real life, but slightly shorter) and run it through the area, knocking the person in the forehead. It is a young white male in a black duster and somewhat formal clothes including a white shirt and dark slacks. There is also a white female and a black female who are part of the “gang” - they appear to be fairly wealthy (unless it is a facade) rather than just meandering or typically desperate “street people”. It is possible that these people represent facets of the virus I presently have (my wife does not have it “yet” and may not get it - but the last several times my family got a virus of some kind, I did not). The “gang” eventually goes away from the area. I notice there is no higher fence across the front of the yard as there was in reality. I ask someone (no one in particular) to “get me my gun” but prefer using the bar for some reason.

Later, I go out with the metal bar and hold it up like a sword or baseball bat. The male now has a rifle but does not use it. I see them at a distance about three houses away. Eventually, they come to the house again. I had been in the kitchen at that later point and when I look out to the porch, my youngest son (who seems to have a lighter variation of the virus in real life) is seemingly being held back from leaving the door area by a hand through the window.

Finally, I decide that enough is enough. I knock all of the “gang members” on the head and somehow put the bar through their body (chest area) even though it is flat and cylindrical (with no sharp point anywhere). That does not seem to be enough, so I “knock them into oblivion” until there is almost nothing left. Two grotesque-looking young males (extra ridges and furrows in their faces - but they otherwise remind me of an actor whose name I do not recall) with platinum blonde hair also approach but I easily knock them to bits as well. Violence. Bah. This cold, while getting better, is annoying. Later, there is a reset and I go back to the concert from the beginning. Good.
