    1. A Giant; Family and Friends

      by , 01-31-2012 at 04:15 PM (* The Sandman's Dream Journal o/***)
      A Giant

      I was looking out the side bedroom window. Clear as day, I saw a giant. He was about 80 feet tall. He was black. I remember the detail in his face...shape and all.

      He had bad intentions. I was really scared. I saw a school bus floating just outside my window over to the side. I remember telling my wife that it was all real, or that he was bad, as evidenced by the bus floating outside the window.

      The End

      I also had a dream about being a giant myself.

      Family and Friends

      I was in someones back yard. My fgf was sitting to one side. About 20 feet away, my dad was sitting next to M. About 20 feet away from that was another couple...they were friends in the dream.

      I was going to take a picture of my dad with his girlfriend, but his head was hanging down. I know this was because my father has passed away. Instead, I decided to take a picture of mogf, or the other couple, or maybe I ended up taking a picture of my dad and M. if he lifted his head. I can't remember, but I did end up getting one picture.

      This is interesting because I just had a dream about having pictures of me the night before.

    2. I'm a Giant, a Prisoner; Nude Female

      by , 12-19-2011 at 03:53 PM (* The Sandman's Dream Journal o/***)
      I was a giant inside a building. There was another giant outside. Everyone else was normal sized.

      There was a threat that I would be punished for something, possibly for being a giant (?). It seemed like something beyond my control. I therefore saw an Asian in a round, bamboo cage. The man represented me and my possible punishment. He was taller than the diameter of the cage, so that he lay down on a floor of sand and his feet were outside the cage.

      I then thought I had awakened from the, or a dream, and started trying to reason what was going on, but didn't get very far.

      Dream skip ~

      I was with a female. I didn't really see her face. She was nude. I could see the top of her vagina and here torso. She was really sexy, but she wanted her underwear. I gave her her very skimpy, white, cotton underwear. I may have touched her a little right around her vagina, but I looked away then and left her alone since she wasn't game.
    3. Best catch ever!

      by , 10-31-2011 at 12:02 AM (Tales from the sun chaser.)
      So I'm fishing at the coast of this spring or beach with just a line. I feel something tug, and whatever it is....it's big as all get out. I maintain the line and when I feel a break in tension, I pull it in. While this is happening, people are yelling and panicking....telling me to let it go. The water is down right violent, and it looks like what ever I have is probably something that has the potential to eat me and everyone else. I steadily ignore everyone's pleading and continue pulling this unknown creature in.

      Thoughts flash in my head, could be a shark, could be a great white, could be anything...hell a small whale. I was thinking "well if I can beach it, then I win". Suddenly the most curious thing in all of my dreams happens. I see this plume of blackness emerge through the water, and two long appendages on each side sprout from it. The they propel the creature upwards to my astonishment. The black object.....smooth wet hair....those appendages, arms. Suddenly I realize that this "monster" is actually a person.

      I slack the line all the way up to where I started at, and watch her slowly rise to her feet. Wet brunette hair gets tossed to the back of shoulders like curtains. Wearing a black leather top and skirt I immediately recognize this woman to be Summer Glau. She stands around around 15 feet and has the most pissed off look on her face. The hook is still in her mouth.

      Everyone who's on the beach is running around screaming for their lives, and leaving while I'm just staring at her, motionlessly. She pulls the hook out of her mouth, and holds it between her fingernails, and slashes at me. The first swipe wasn't intended to hit me. I think she just wanted to scare me, but it didn't work. I'm sitting on the beach with puppy dog eyes still enamored by whats going on. I slightly gather my senses, and she swings again. This time she's playing for keeps. I raise and cross my arms above my head, and bock her attack. I feel the hook tear a bit at my skin, but it's not much. During the actual attack I feel my feet slide across the sand as I'm pushed backwards by several meters. She attacks several more times, and I block the aggressive onslaught.

      I feel like I deserve this in some sort of way, as some cruel punishment. Suddenly I stop blocking her attacks I don't want to fight her, and at this point, I feel like maybe I just deserve it. She raises an open hand above my head, and I know she's going to slap me like a rag doll, but I don't care. I don't blink, cringe or anything. She pauses, and looks directly into my eyes, and for a second we connect. She lowers her guard, and slowly bends over towards me. Her face gets so close to mine as she locks in, and suddenly, she kisses me.

      I'll have to admit...that was one of the best feelings ever. she stands up right, and I try to talk to her, but she says nothing. She picks me up, hugs me, and places me on the back of her neck. I hold on, and she walks around town with me. I feel the unevenness of weight distribution as we head out on our journey to no where. The vibration of each foot step works it's way through my body, and I'm blown away by it all. There's a little girl who's also up there with me. We talk a bit, and I think I even played a game with her, and I bought my attention back to Summer. She spoke to me, but I don't remember what was said.

      I remember after I woke up, I was replaying the dream in my head....almost like a DVR how everything flash in my face....I could have still been dreaming, I'm not sure.
    4. Lucid #14 Friday's, Horses

      Non-Drean/Comments Dream Lucid

      30.12.2010

      I am with some guys at a weird place. There are horses everywhere. There are casual horses, dressed horses, silver-armored horses, gold-armored horses... For some reason there is a huge guy there dressed in heavy silver armor and he is chasing us. At some point i turned around and see him holding a long spear and a hand ballista. He loads the ballista with the spear he's holding and he is aiming us! We run! The spear hits me in the head on the bone behind my right ear... and it ostracized!

      "Dude... I felt no pain"
      "Yeah man, this spot doesn't hurt. You were lucky!"

      I accept it... After that there was some chasing with the horses going on. I rode a horse and climbed (with the horse) on a tree, so that the other horses couldn't reach us.

      ~~~
      I am with my parents in our car, going home. I am sleeping in the car. I wake up and notice we are in Kifisia avenue (just an avenue). My fother stops and gets out of the car in order to pee. The place were we stopped doesn't really exsist in the specific part of the avenue we were in. I sleep again. I wake up and find myself sitting in a tabble and there are my parents and many other people too. Seems like Friday's or something... I get up, frustrated, beacause everyone is eating the best desserts and except that the didn't get anything for me, they let me sleep in a restaurant full with people... I say to my mother:
      "Why didn't you get me anything?"
      "You were sleeping..."
      "You should WAKE ME UP!!!"
      Everyone is looking at me, as i leave the table in order to find someone to order something. As i walk through the tables i see a girl dressed in a sexy maid outfit, but i keep walking... I walk up some stairs. I can't find someone to order anywhere. A counter, a bar, a waitress, NOTHING. I go back to our table. I see the girl again. Her clothes are now different. How did she change so fast? I look at our table.
      "Hey mom, i can't find anyone anywhere... unless..."
      "...it's a dream..."
      I am lucid. I find myself sitting on a bed, without noticing the change in the dream.
      "It's a dream... Hold it!... It's a dream!"
      I do the nose RC. I can breathe normally. I try to think something to stabilize the dream. I let my nose, and rub my hands, but i don't like the feeling. Holding my nose again makes things much better. I think of activating my other senses. I can't hear anything. I turn around and open a window. Nothing...
      "...cars..."
      There is traffic sound now!
      "...wind...ffffff"
      I can hear wind! That's cool! I think about smell, which i rarely have in dreams.
      "...cake..."
      Nop... It's ok. The dream seems stable enough. I think of spinning to change scene. I close my eyes and think about it... Naaaaah... I open my eyes and i am now lied in the bed i was sitting. I close them again and try to imagine a new place. I open them a little and i have a mixed image of my room and my dream. I close them and feel i am waking up.
      And i woke up...
      I note not to try this means of transport again for some time. I need to concentrate on a dream guide. Hopefully i 'll learn more about stabilizing my dreams this way.
    5. Cute Terrors
      by , 08-03-2011 at 04:38 AM
      First Dream I'm in a baseball stadium, sitting high up in the nosebleeds. I'm not watching the game and I'm not even aware if there's anything going on in the arena. My attention is on the rowdy fans around me. Some are yelling and arguing. Eventually, fights start to break out. I've had enough of the pushy natures and left.
      Second Dream I feel like I'm outside of the parking lot of the baseball stadium. But it's nightfall whereas the first dream took place during the day. There is a man, presumably my manager. There are other coworkers around me and our manager is busting a vein, completely chewing us out and telling us that we're worthless and threatens to fire us (for whatever job, I don't know). One woman in particular is an anime character, Celty from Durarara. He's picking on her the most. She begins to cry and I won’t stand for that.
      I take her by the hand and lead her away from the scene. She's still very upset, so I suggest that we should drive off someplace where we can gather ourselves and feel better. We do. I'm riding on a motorcycle opposite to hers, and she texts me "Thank you, that was very nice of you." (she communicates via text) I laugh and tell her with my thoughts that it was okay. She's surprised and amazed by this. Celty asks how I can communicate with her through our thoughts, I reply that I'm lucid dreaming and I can do anything. When I think this, I ride faster and faster until I cannot see her beside me.
      Third Dream I'm revisiting a haunted house I used to work at. The owners greeted me and showed me to the entrance so I could have a peek at this year’s new look. I'm appalled to see that the price of entry was $26! I refused to pay and the new workers are offended by this. The owners kindly show me in anyway without me spending a dime and I'm suddenly with an old friend that I used to have romantic feelings for. She's scared and clings to me, holding my hand while walking through the maze. One actor wearing a wolf mask greets me from behind and presses the muzzle of the snout against the back of my neck. It wasn’t a scary gesture at all. I shivered so violently and pleasantly that it almost wakes me. I shake that feeling of waking off and continue to walk with my friend.
      There is a fork in the road of the maze. We chose the left side and it becomes a scavenger hunt. We have to find a ruby in each room we enter. It isn't very scary. The rooms are relatively normal and even cute. But my friend is more frightened than ever and that made me nervous. We were careful in the first two rooms, checking to see if there were monsters or anything of the sort that would hurt us, but there weren't any. I was relieved when we reached the last room. It looked like a fifteen year old girl's bedroom. It was painted red and white and pink. There were stuffed animals and heart plush toys everywhere.
      My friend found the last ruby beneath the bed in the room and she silenced a scream when she looked back in the last room we came from. Inside there was a sleeping giant. It was so enormous I could only see its legs. When I told her that we had to creep out quietly, I felt a very sharp bristly gnawing sensation cuffed around my left ankle. Beneath the bed where my friend took the ruby, something was trying to pull me under with it. We both screamed and I woke.
      Thoughts and Stuff When I woke up, I realized that my left ankle was scratching against the edge of my bed. It really freaked me out. It felt like the dream was still happening. And as calm as I was at first in the last dream, it really felt nightmarish. I'm not sure why. If you would like to share some insight, feel free.
    6. Super WTF Jesus
      (I swear I am not christian and yet I have these dreams)
      My Father's House
      I was walking along a sandy shore near a cliff with a group of people. A tall mound of Sand began to blow away revealing I GIANT Jesus buried in the sand. If you've ever seen there Harry Potter movie where you see the one giant... he was that big. The sand blew away just below his torso and I saw him mounted on a cross. His head was hung low and I saw his head gushing with blood where he wore a crown of thorns. Then The King of the Jews rose his head and looked at me. When he spoke his voice sounded as if it was both human and godly. I was terrified. He said to me, "I am now going to my Father's house. Won't you, my son, come with me?"
      Suddenly he was no longer there but in his place, was a slow witted giant in shackles. Children were running under him playing a game to avoid his fists smashing into them. I also participated in this game.
    7. 25th April 2011: Foot-Flesh Balance Jumping
      by , 04-25-2011 at 05:42 PM (Adventures of a 21st Century Dreamer)
      Lucid-NonLucid-Comments
      meduim recall so I cant remember all the details but I was with a group of random characters,
      wondering where I was when the narrator said-
      "as the illegitimate sons of rich footballers prowl the night disillusioned with society, one of them stops to ask a question"...
      There were four of us so I turned to one and asked what was going on. He said that our dads had abandoned us, and we had decided to raid mansions in revenge( I watched a clock work orange yesterday). Time-skips and we decided to raid a mansion not too disimilar to this-
      As we are roaming around this random house, and causing all manner of mayhem.
      One of the other guys starts screaming that the owner is back and he has a gun.
      I tell everyone to leg it, but as I'm jumping over the garden fence I here the owner Exclaim
      "Aah man, who masturbated on my porn collection?" I didn't do it but found it hilarious at the time.
      In that split second of laughter, the whole scene seemed to have changed into a maze of gardens all guarded with vicious dogs( again with the dogs!).
      Luckily for me I had become some kind of fence leaping expert.
      I finally made it out of the maze and was confronted by a giant tree.
      I climbed the tree so I could better survey the area, I could see a bridge over a lava river with a giant bearded man on one side. There were metal pillars with disc shaped tops that were spinning coming out of the lava..wtf
      I headed for the giant so I could see what would happen next. As I approached him he said..
      "ahoy there, would you like me to teach you the art of Foot-flesh balance jumping?"
      Me: er..... what's that?
      Giant: Its where we cut flesh from some part of your body, tie it to your feet ,and then you have to try to make it across to the other side using the spinning pillars.
      Me: er...ok
      My brain skipped the flesh cutting bit, because I was now standing on-top of one of the pillars. I could also smell burning flesh.
      Giant: by the way, the longer you remain on one pillar the less meat you have for the next
      I looked down and realised I was wearing a skirt it reminded me of the Vikings. The spinning was starting to make me dizzy, so I jumped, miss-timed the trajectory but somehow made it onto the next pillar.
      Giant: good try to go with the flow.
      Then my alarm went off.
    8. Narnia Fighting a Gaint Troll
      by , 03-31-2011 at 07:45 PM (High Quality Head Movies)
      I don't remember a lot because I rushed out of bed without writing it down first.
      It started on a Ship
      We arrived at the dock on a wooden ship (like the recent Narnia movie's ship). I remember it was me, another guy about my age and King Edmund who got off the ship. We walked across the dock and everyone was dressed like world war II era (also the setting of the movie). So we walked around the dock to a tree on the shore that was between buildings. The tree was in the ally between two buildings and had a door hinge on it.
      King Edmund said that this was the way we needed to go to get to Narnia. We opened the tree and a cavern with torches around it was inside. The cavern was about the size of a normal sized garage. We walked in and heard a deep growl noise. Me and Edmund drew our swords and the other guy hesitated and drew his with a worried look on his face (he said he knows nothing about Narnia and had never been to there before). We walked slowly through the small cavern and then a giant troll came out and swung his mace at us. He had spiked armor and a spiked helmet but his arms and legs were exposed. We all scrambled and fought. My sword had a small handle and was near useless, every time I hit the troll I almost lost my grip on the sword. I looked for anything to fight with and found a pile of swords most of them looked like toy swords. The troll went for the others and this gave me time to get a better weapon. The first one I picked up was the biggest one with a dragon scale design and a dragon head on the hilt. It was perfect and light but when I felt it, it was dull (every sword in my dream was dull). I fought with it anyway and battered him with it but never could cut him. After many minutes of fighting, Edmund jumped and stabbed the troll through his armor into his heart. The cavern shook when it hit the ground. We all were out of breath. Edmund said we had done our job.
      I could see that the cavern went on but no torches were up anywhere else in the cavern. We were leaving and I was happy for my new sword but then as we walked out of the cavern, I knew it would not come with me from Narnia because you can't bring anything with you from Narnia. As we went through the door my sword turned into a gold mist and vanished. After we closed the door the other guy wanted to know if he would ever go back in their again and Edmund said he will eventually but not for a while.
      We walked back to the dock where our ship was and now my cousin Jacob was with us. We didn't have phones and Jacob let us use his and we called the ship and they said it would be a little bit but they were on there way. We all waited and the direction the ship was coming from was thunderstorming and pouring rain with high waves. We were a little worried. All of these refugees were on the dock with us who were mostly women and children who looked like they had lost everything.
      We all waited for the ship and when the ship got back it looked more futuristic and not as long but taller. As we got on Edmund gave me a model of the ship that was about a foot long and was telling me it was the same ship but had changed and showed me more on the model about the new additions and then I woke up.
    9. The Giant, the mouse and the hole
      by , 07-01-2010 at 04:39 AM (Visions of the night)
      6/30/10
      I am in a semi dark wooden house.. the lights that light up the room are dim. I noticed everything is wooden.. the walls, ceiling and floors. Dark oak.
      I see movement on the floor and started screaming it appeared to be a rat. There were others in the house that witnessed this and began to search for the rodent. One guy catches what appears to be an overgrown mouse and he starts to attempt to kill it but winds up injuring the animal. So I took it upon myself to break it's neck to stop it from suffering.
      I grab hold of this mouse and it starts to bite me in the hand. So I immediately disregard the pain and crack the mouse's neck bending it back and twisting fast.
      Finally the mouse is immediately dead and someone else decides to hold onto it.. than again another rodent appears running around and under the bed. I go to see where it had went and I notice this hole in the wall. I move the bed over and get on my knees and look into this hole. I see a room light and empty and it appears to look like a church. So I turn and tell the others " hey it looks like another room in there". The owner who lives there tells me no that is impossible. I said "sure look" he kneels down and is amazed at it..I get down too and was freaked out at how good of a view I was able to get.. it was as if the hole opened up more.
      I felt a trickle of water on my cheek and looking more into the hole I saw it was raining in that room.
      The guy with the dead mouse said " hey we should get rid of the other rodent so it doesn't infest the house anymore". I agree that it was a good idea to lure the mouse with the dead one. So I turn around to the dresser and they are putting seeds in the dead carcass of the mouse.. I wondered why they were doing it but ignored and leaned up against the wall.
      Right next to me I felt wind against my leg and saw a huge wet foot print appear. I was like wow! that is a big foot!... the place moved a bit and I told the other people who were there... " I think we should get out of here something is not right".
      They agree.. but the hole in the wall is getting big revealing the other room.. so we start to see huge foot prints appearing.. it was like some sort of giant spirit was marching around.
      All of a sudden I find myself in one of the rooms and it was raining hard outside. I am holding a very small new born infant and someone asked me " wow that is a beautiful baby he is so small".. out of no where I said " Yes he was born 3 months early and his name is Micheal." The baby is curled up against me so tiny it was incredible. We start to hear harsh stomping .. the room door is closed and we start to gather near the bed scared. All of a sudden this huge giant appears peering through the door he busted through. He was bald headed with a white beard and his eyes were closed. I was scared and wanted to leave. The whole place was getting soggy from the rain and the giant was just weird.
      He told me he was not going to do anything because I had the baby and the baby was stronger than him...
      ...weird dream...
    10. Stopping a storm
      by , 12-17-1998 at 08:50 AM
      Morning of December 17, 1998. Thursday.
      This was a longer dream of a storm which was fairly vivid. I have the ability to stop the storm by finding a certain bow and arrow, apparently with “magical” properties. Upon finding them, the bow and arrow are transparent and seem to be made of hail or ice at first and are very light in weight. Upon closer examination they sometimes seem more like “spinning water” or some sort of spiritual force. (Ice has always been a fairly common feature in dreams along with fire and water, and it usually brings more lucidity.)
      The storm seems to be a result of a giant of some kind, which I bring down with the arrow and later crush it (him) to pieces. My wife is also a positive force with me. There is also some sort of whirlwind in the sky - with faces of ancient warriors (including Geronimo / Goyahkla and Crazy Horse) - yet they seem to be calming the weather rather than increasing the forceful nature of the whirlwind which they are part of. I am given more gifts and “tools” relating to controlling (or calming) the weather when the need may arise in the future.
    11. Peaceful Evening (featuring a growing and shrinking guard)
      by , 07-05-1996 at 01:05 PM
      Morning of July 5, 1996. Friday.
      This was one of my most vivid dreams during this time period. Somehow, even though I seem fully conscious and fully in-body in this dream, I do not enter any level of lucidity.
      My wife Zsuzsanna and I are standing on a second-floor veranda in what may be some sort of unusual composite of airport, shopping center, and mansion. We are looking out over intensely beautiful silvery water. There is a heightened sense of peace and the sense of touch is augmented. I study the reflections on the water’s surface in appreciation for what seems like an hour or so. A sense of timelessness and happiness dominates the scene.
      Eventually, a male around my age who reminds me somewhat of a British guard, but wearing a stove pipe hat, grows larger and larger as he walks, but not in any menacing way (as he does not seem to regard us in any way at any point). He becomes at least as tall as the two-storey building. As he continues to walk to the right, he then starts to become smaller and smaller until only his otherwise large hat is left rolling around. I then start focusing on the rolling of the hat. Even though the imagery is quite surreal, it also somehow seems “realistic” and “correct”.
      In another scene, we are taking a small fast escalator somewhere. Everyone else is having difficulties, as they are using a particular escalator for the wrong direction, trying to walk down the one going up and trying to walk up the one going down (and of course, I have seen children and teens mess about on escalators like this in reality). Seemingly, we are the only ones who get to our destination.
      The first part of my dream reminds me vaguely of the “friendly giant” dreams I mostly had around age five when living on Rose Street in Wisconsin.
    12. Tornadopillar
      by , 04-03-1982 at 10:03 AM
      Morning of April 3, 1982. Saturday.
      I am in La Crosse, Wisconsin on the south side of town and west of the main library. There are a number of other people around, mostly unknown. There is a tornado coming in our direction (from the southwest), or so it seems for several minutes. I can hear the train-like rumbling sounds (like with a real tornado but which may be caused by real environmental noise such as louder traffic while sleeping). I am with some friends and we and the other people are eventually running everywhere, though mostly north.
      All of a sudden, there is a strange screeching sound (again, possibly caused by real-life environmental sounds intruding into my dream without waking me, such as a vehicle’s brakes squealing). We look back and it turns out to have been an enormous caterpillar spinning a cocoon and was not a tornado. Everything is quiet now that the caterpillar has entered this stage and is vertically oriented within the giant cocoon, apparently sleeping and not threatening in any way. Additionally, I get the impression that it was not actually chasing us. We just happened to originally be in the area it was coincidentally moving towards during the faux chase. Eventually, I become semi-lucid and personally indulge in sensual pleasures in an offset scenario until I choose to wake.
      Resupplemented for a clearer and more detailed explanation on Saturday, 2 December 2017.
      There are really two levels to this dream, a natural (biological) ordinary meaning and a spiritual meaning if one is so inclined. On the natural level, a tornado is a factor of RAS and inner ear dynamics as precursory waking symbolism, an extreme augmentation analogous to potential dizziness in real life. In this case, that aspect is validated by a second inner ear dynamic, the potential butterfly flight symbol, which is “frozen” and thus as a result, triggering lucidity against the subdued RAS factor (similar to the “frozen” bird silhouettes in more recent apex lucidity dreams). On one level of course, this dream was at least partly influenced by “Mothra” (a 1961 movie).
      Spiritually, tornadoes represent the powerful bottom half of the Merkaba (even in my earliest childhood dreams) and, due to the “raw force” of a tornado, relate to personal dream state alchemy. (In certain trance states of deep meditation, I vividly experience the Merkaba by touching my wife Zsuzsanna on the shoulder, the Merkaba of which appears as two blue tornadoes uniting, rotating in opposite directions, with extraordinarily vivid impressions which I can only describe as seeing hundreds of different wedding ceremonies of different cultures and eras.) The transition from tornado to caterpillar-in-cocoon implies a waiting stage prior to changing into a butterfly (a type of personal ascension or implying the state of readiness for meeting my “dream girl” in real life).
      Susan R (the only person other than Zsuzsanna of whom I could ever sense as existing on other levels) and Zsuzsanna (before I knew she was a real person) drew identical vertically-oriented anthropomorphic caterpillars in a top hat (as if one had been traced over the other with even the same stray line) as a part of an otherwise dissimilar story. (One of my relatives was scared and angered by seeing this as most ordinary people do not like the unexplained, though over time, changed their way of thinking and was eventually glad I had found my “dream girl” after so many precise clues over so many years.)
      “The caterpillar makes an appearance in a few other places outside ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’, such as 'American McGee’s Alice’ and the novel 'The Looking-Glass Wars’; in both of these spin-offs he plays the role of an oracle.”
    13. “What’s Upstairs?” (The Sleeping Giant)
      by , 10-06-1979 at 04:06 PM
      Morning of October 6, 1969. Monday.
      Dream #: 1,022-02. Reading time: 1 min 40 sec.
      Five or six schoolmates and I slowly become aware of, and choose to investigate, another part of our school in Arcadia that most people supposedly do not usually go to on the east side of the high school building (even though we are in elementary school, though we did have classes in the high school building).
      Bossy schoolmate Susan C is present. She is the authority for our tentative exploration. It is seemingly very early in the morning before sunrise. At one point, she lifts her finger to her lips in a “shush” gesture. (I consider this a dream sign as people sometimes do this when someone else is sleeping.)
      We arrive at a staircase behind a doorway, directly accessible from the outside of the building. It leads to the highest floor, to a big bedroom where a possibly dangerous male giant is sleeping. (There is never a sense of impending danger.) I get the impression he is about four times larger than a normal human being. We all walk up the steps slowly and cautiously, Susan in the lead. Eventually, everything starts shaking. The giant is possibly slowly waking for the day, but there is no immediate danger. We ascend the steps with curiosity and caution. Perhaps the shaking of the school building is only caused by the giant’s snoring, and he may not wake after all. We do not reach the top before I wake, yet I visualize him in my mind’s eye. He is asleep in his bed on his back kitty-corner from the doorway I peer through, his head in the opposite direction of my viewpoint, the soles of his feet facing me and uncovered (by the bed sheet) with one sock half-off.
      Here, the preconscious, as my classmate Susan, serves as the transitional vestibular system simulacrum as I remain passive to the dreaming process. She is guiding my infra-self into the subception that my conscious self is sleeping. The top of the stairs is a precursory factor that correlates with the extent of my readiness for getting out of bed and going to school. However, in this case, it is nowhere near the time to wake up for the day. That is why Susan “shushed” my infra-self, despite the incidental emergence of vestibular system awareness. It serves as a reinduction process rather than consciousness initiation. This shaking effect occurs in the first part of the sleep cycle.
    14. The Little Giant (Fence Autosymbolism part 3)
      by , 08-24-1975 at 02:24 PM
      Morning of August 24, 1975. Sunday (the day before starting 9th grade).
      This dream is like an O. Henry tale and as such, is more like an amusing (but nonsensical) ”story” than many of my other dreams. There was a time when I titled it “The Smallest Giant” to have a titular relationship with other (though unrelated) dreams such as “The Smallest Rabbit” and “The Smallest Ghost”.
      In my dream, a fictitious family lives directly south of us and seemingly shares their house with another family, or perhaps they are only visiting them or staying with them for a time during the upcoming school year.
      A fictitious wooden fence, much like an old cattle fence (but of only two separated narrower boards high), runs east and west at the southernmost end of our house all the way out to the train tracks. The grass is also longer in our backyard than it had ever been in real life.
      The main idea is that there is a “giant” living next door. I think the giant’s name may be John but I am unsure. (There is only a vague awareness at one point of the Edward G. Robinson movie “The Little Giant” from 1933.)
      However, the male that had been thought by others to be a giant is eventually seen to not be very tall at all, but he is chubby, and at one point, seemingly only a little taller than the average height for an adult male. He seems mentally “slow”, though. He vaguely reminds me of Kenneth W, a classmate and friend from the year before.
      I play a few games with him and Kenny and Karen (neighbors, schoolmates, and friends in real life, though Lisa is not present), mainly with a Frisbee, and some other events take place related to the “giant” making a few odd mistakes in judgement (mostly regarding distance orientation). Near the end of my dream, there is an idea that it is foolish for people to call him a giant.
      During the clearest segment of my dream, I call over the fence to him, “hey” and his first name, saying “…Kindergarten starts tomorrow!” Of course, this is a “twist ending” and implies that he actually is a giant but only four or five years of age. I am almost laughing as I wake, being aware of the apparent “cleverness” of my dream.
      This dream has been used here for part 3 of my “Fence Autosymbolism” series. Here, the fence is a main feature of which does not exist in reality. However, in this case, there is a degree of correlation with waking life. It is important to understand that dreams are typically an ambiguous mix of literal factors and autosymbolic factors, sometimes with conscious self correlation.
      This dream was, on one level, temporarily making light of my conscious self’s discomfort and uncertainty over the idea of going to high school for the first time, as ninth grade was to start for me on the twenty-fifth of August (on the morning after this dream). My dream colored my mood from mostly negative to somewhat cheerful, at least during this day.
      The “giant” was not the preconscious factor in this dream (and not all dreams have a personified preconscious either), but my emergent consciousness. Again, it was making light of an upcoming transition, that for some, might instead have been rendered as a nightmare or at best an unpleasant dream. In reality, I was no longer in the lower grades. I was no longer a child. The fictitious fence appeared in my dream as both a liminal space divider (which was not present in later dreams) and because contact with our real neighbors was nearing an end as was the previous openness with Lisa as had existed in our childhood and early teenage years.
      This validates that some dream content comes from current (though liminal) deliberate conscious thought (while other content seems to have no recent source). This is important to understand, as fences which already existed, the ones in part 1 and part 2 of this series, were solely autosymbolic of the dream state and waking process only, and they did not imply creating a new fence in a real-life setting by way of liminal dream control (dream control without lucidity).
    15. A giant onion is growing in our backyard garden
      by , 07-19-1975 at 01:19 PM
      Morning of July 19, 1975. Saturday.
      Dream #: 3,134-02. Reading time: 50 sec.
      My imaginary dream self becomes aware of being in an alternate (erroneously detailed) version of our backyard in Cubitis. It seems to be in the late morning. I am aware of my father standing near the back of our chicken shed and digging, but this is not a defined focus.
      My attention is mainly on a giant onion that is growing in our garden in the area west of the railroad tracks. The top part of it that is exposed is about three feet in diameter. I do not consider its presence unusual.
      How to understand dreams in my online dream journal: This dream is mainly a result of instinctual sleep-wake mediation and inherently unrelated to my waking-life status other than with partial literal threads (for example, we had a garden in this location in real life but did not grow giant onions).
      A feature coming out of the ground is instinctual autosymbolism for emergence from slow-wave sleep. Dreams exhibit co-occurrence with the waking transition as a preparatory function of achieving consciousness.
      The top part of the onion in this dreaming experience, being above ground, confirms to me that accessible layers of memory only exist with the emergence of cognizance and consciousness during the beginning of liminality (increasing lucidity) to viable wakefulness.
