    1. The Moon has Fallen Asleep

by , 05-31-2021 at 01:26 AM (The Fourth Factor)
Another dream on the verge of being lucid without quite being there. In the earliest part I can remember clearly, I’m on a computer: I’m looking up some band I’m interested in, trying to find more of their music. But the dream shifts to another scenario. It still isn’t lucid, but it’s pretty clear I’m not actually invested in it as real. I’m initially in an outdoor farm-like area with flamingos some distance away, observing interactions between characters. I only identify with one when she’s asked a question, changing to her viewpoint and responding as her. There’s a sense of making things up as I go along. I need to go somewhere now, and so I call to the nearby leopard, which I call Arthur, telling him to come with me. (I use the German pronunciation. I am about 90% sure I decided to name it after Schopenhauer.) It doesn’t want to get up, but I pull it to its feet, which it tolerates, and we walk away.

Next, I remember entering a building. It’s somewhat reminiscent of a building on a campsite, just a long rectangle, possibly something like an uninsulated metal frame, and has no interior divisions. It’s mostly empty and white, and there’s an even stronger sense of almost-lucidity here. It’s as if whatever plot there may have been has definitely gone off the rails by now, and I’m driving things, though not in a fully conscious way.

I go over to the bed in the nearest corner – other than the one by the door I entered from – and sit down on it. What follows is maybe best described as a strange kind of visual thinking – a little like reading a picture book, where I cease to really be present in the room and am absorbed in the stories that are playing out in mental space. It’s hard to describe since it isn’t exactly like anything that happens while awake – but it’s almost like there’s another presence there telling the stories.

They seem to be some kind of philosophical parable, and also a sort of story-behind-stories, representing something that was once commonly manifested in literature from an earlier time. The first one was so utterly bizarre that I can’t remember a thing about it now – but in the dream, I understand it perfectly since the meaning in all its facets and interrelations is just a part of it as it is presented. I can see it all mapped out, like a complex constellation. But some of the points are placed in the wrong locations for it to reflect reality. It’s something I was already aware of, but it’s a little sad to see it laid out like this so clearly.

There’s enough of a gap for the room to enter my awareness again before the second story begins. This one is apparently communicating the same thing as the first one did, but in a different way. I can remember the beginning of this one – how the wolves were all howling at the moon, but the moon had fallen asleep and couldn’t hear them…

    2. 6 Oct: Crime in the Arctic Circle

      by , 10-06-2020 at 10:32 AM (Lucid-schizo-dreamer)
non-dream dream semi-lucid lucid false awakening astral projection

I am a detective with a colleague working on a case somewhere in the Arctic Circle, on a small community. It's freezing hell and locals found a body near the coast. We try to collect some evidence, but the body is completely frozen and we can't do shit and nobody seems available to pick it up to the morgue. Then someone warns us of a polar bear coming towards us and we have to run. The bear goes to the corpse with the intention of eating it, we try to scare him away but then a pack of wolves comes from another direction and we just have to give up. Next day we find bits and pieces of the corpse, like an arm and a foot.

Later on I am somewhere in Africa visiting some friends, but on arriving at their place, I encounter dozens of lions and lionesses either roaming around or lying down in groups here and there. I jump inside a car that is parked just outside their house and call out to someone. But their door is open and I fear the worst. I drive around and find more people I know and bring them in safely into the car. We are packed like sardines and some lions get more aggressive, so we get out of there.

    3. The Gifts You've Been Given

by , 04-13-2018 at 12:55 AM (The Fourth Factor)
I’m an observer watching a scene unfold on a boat—but really, it’s more that I’m looking at it and the people on deck while being aware of the situation playing out there in a more abstract way. There are some documents I need for traveling on this boat, and I’m not sure if I have them or if I need to go through some process to get them.

The scene shifts—I’m now exiting a bus. But instead of winding up outside as I had expected, I’ve simply stepped onto another bus. I quickly take a seat behind the two women who entered ahead of me and wonder where this one is going to take me.

The scene shifts again—this time, I’m waking up in the back of a car my parents are driving. It feels as if I’m younger in this one. We’ve just stopped by a building I recognize as the one where my father’s workshop is. That means we’re not far from home now. I fall back asleep.

The scene shifts yet again—this time, I’m in a grocery store. And this time, I know it’s a dream, although I still seem to think the last bit with the car was waking reality. I think it would be best if I sleep for the remainder of the trip, and so that means making sure this dream lasts.

I look around. There don’t seem to be anyone here but me. It's reminiscent of the specialty grocer’s down the street from my old flat on Svornosti. That means there should be a counter over in the corner where I can get some coffee.

I go over and find the counter is there, and that there’s somebody behind it. There’s nothing displaying prices, so I just put down three bills, possibly dollars, which seems like a more than fair price. But the woman tells me I have to make the coffee myself using the machine there. It’s an odd contraption, like no coffee maker I’ve ever used, but after messing around for it a bit, I get it to pour some coffee out - Turkish style, with the grounds at the bottom. I drink it. This isn’t a conscious attempt at stabilization, I don’t think—just something that struck me as a pretty good idea—but it may have had that effect, as it’s normally hard for me to stay asleep so late in the morning.

I consider where to go from here. Perhaps home, where the car was headed—only I have no idea where I am right now. But if I fly, perhaps I’ll see some familiar landmark from the air and be able to find my way from there. And to fly, I’ll need a high place to launch from—so it looks like I’m headed to the roof.

In the meantime, I’ve noticed six or seven wolves between two shelves on the upper story, which is a sort of balcony over one half of the store. They all trot off in a single direction as I watch. Are they coming after me? But I wasn’t planning on sticking around here in any case. I climb a shelf and phase through the ceiling.

I now find myself in a room lit by a warm light. A long mahogany table laid with bright red dishes is some distance off—set for an elaborate meal, it looks like. It's quite pretty. I continue on my way, climbing another shelf and jumping through the ceiling.

This time I’m in an attic-like room near a big calico cat that, in typical feline fashion, seems entirely unimpressed by my unusual method of transportation. But it’s about then that I wake up.

I also wake up remembering something else—not something I heard, but words that seemed to be impressed on my mind. It went something like: “Use the gifts you’ve been given, human.” I don’t know who said it—perhaps it was the cat?—but it seemed somehow independent from the rest of the dream, like it was taking place on a different level. Good advice, in any case.

    4. 8/24/2017

I actually had two dreams, one from my nap, and then one overnight. Both of them were extremely strange to me, and I've been dying to write them down. From my nap, my dreams were completely built around the TV show in the background. That's never happened to me before. Usually I dream of things I watched before, but I guess I wasn't in a deep enough sleep and the narrative from the show came through. My mind placed things around it and it turned out super odd. My overnight dream was just weird in general.

      Nap

My boyfriend and I were getting together with some of his friends to watch some documentaries. I don't remember this one exactly, but I get the feeling it was about Alaska, glaciers, polar bears... things like that. We were in a hotel room with a huge dining table, with your choice of either fish or chicken to eat. The platters of food were odd: oval plates with the slices of meat stacked directly up, held together with a single stake. On the tops of the stakes were the heads of the animals the food came from.

I was super grossed out (as I feel I should have been), so one of his friends came up and took the heads for himself to eat (ew). I circled the table and piled some pieces onto my plate, and then sat down across from my boyfriend. I don't recall much else from this scene except eating the food and taking another piece from the plate before decided abruptly we had to leave.

We gather our things - including our basket of laundry - and head down the hall to the laundromat, which turns out to be our old apartment. The left of the living room is lined with washers and dryers, and a check out area to buy detergent and things. The right still has my couch and TV. There's a bunch of people gathered doing loads, and I find one. My mom, dad, and mother in law are there, and my boyfriend disappears for the rest of the dream.

I'm piling clothes into the washer when I realize I didn't bring detergent, and I didn't bring my wallet to buy any. My mom, in line, hears me complaining, and offers to just do my laundry for me. I accept immediately and then head to the couch to drop down and watch TV.

This is where the TV show I was watching really kicks in. I pull up youtube on my TV, and start watching videos. The audio of them comes from the show I fell asleep to (mysteries at the museum on the travel channel), and the videos I'm watching in my dream are of my friends.

There were a few, some having to do with bees (I think), but the one I remember most is one about tornadoes. It stars one of my friends I don't talk to anymore, and the dream is taken up by the picture my mind comes up with for the audio. My friend is running around with his camera and taking videos of tornadoes. After a good chunk of my dream following this, the narrative voice comes over and says, "this was the first time all stages of a tornado were caught on camera".

I remember thinking to myself how uncanny it was that it was MY friend that had done something so historic, and that stuck with me for the rest of my dream. I watched more videos like this, but don't really remember them as I woke up suddenly, cutting off the end of my dream. The last thing I remember is sitting on the couch with my mom, trying to coax my cat in from the balcony.

      Overnight

I'm driving to work, and I'm running super late. I'm coming from a different direction for some reason and I note how weird it is that there are hardly any cars on the road. I remember seeing a VW bus tow truck type thing (like, the front was a bus, the back was a flatbed tow truck thing), and for some reason it struck me as really, really odd. Couldn't figure out why, but I pulled out after it and followed it up towards my work. As I got closer, though, things got bad pretty fast.

***Graphic warning, may upset some readers. Proceed with caution***
There were dozens upon dozens of dead wolves littering the street. I'm talking the bodies were so great in number I couldn't maneuver around them on a 3 lane street. They were all decapitated, their heads scattered around them farther. Apparently it had been a massacre and the city police was trying to get a handle on it, but failing miserably. I had to try and drive around them, and get to work.
      ***End Graphic Warning***

When I pulled into my work parking lot, I got a really bad feeling. Like, if I got out of the car, I was going to die. I had this feeling that the person that had attacked the animals was on the loose, and was still on the hunt for more. Obviously I had to still go to work, so I waited until someone else was going too, and I ran in the door after them so my chances of being killed in the parking lot was slightly lessened.

Once inside, it was the old mall that I always dream of. I was trying to find my work, and I was having a really hard time finding the store. I was trying to remember the layout from previous dreams (which, in my mind, were just the days before) and I couldn't find the building.

I wandered around a lot; I followed an indoor mine that's part of my dream world. I came out on the other side, and still hadn't found my job. It should have been right beside it, but it wasn't. I was thoroughly confused, and decided to leave and figure it out the next day.

As I left, I ended up at my friend Leta's house. I don't remember why, as she's not someone I would regularly hang out with, but I remember I was excited I got to see her dog. Her house was my house; I was sitting in my living room, scratching her dogs tummy, when we saw fire on the hills outside.

In my head, I knew it was the same man from earlier, out for murder. I told Leta we had to leave, and we gathered a few other people with us in the neighborhood and tried to leave fast. The police thought we looked suspicious, however, and we were taken into custody. We were forced to sit in the back of a truck and wait to be interrogated. They didn't care we had alibis, we were guilty in their eyes.

I remember my hands were bound with a ziptie behind my back, and I was led into a principal's office-type interrogation room. The officer stood behind his desk, and while he was interrogating me, my attention went out the window. It was like a room that was half underground, and the window looked both above ground and underneath it. by the window was a set of stairs, and underneath them it was a hollow hiding space. [

A little boy came running around the corner and dove into the hiding spot. He motioned for me not to say anything, but I was worried about his safety. When the officer chasing him looked in my window, I pointed under the stairs. The officer interviewing me rushed outside to help; the little boy was furious with me.

As I watched the altercation, one of the women I'd run from the neighborhood with showed up and cut me free, telling me to run. I didn't second guess her, and we took off.

I woke up from my alarm at this point and then fell asleep again. This dream is really choppy.

I came into my dream running up a main road, looking for my car. My boyfriend was with me; we were late for an event and really had to go. As we ran up into a parking lot of the apartments we'd been looking at moving to, I remember thinking how glad I was we didn't go there. I was noting the lack of windows when my boyfriend spotted my car.

It was parked between a floor-level apartment and a woman's SUV. Apparently, it turned out the apartment was mine. It was minuscule and only had a single window well for light, which the woman parked next to us remarked, "oh, you're lucky! You get sunlight!".

We got into my car and drove off. The dream breaks up, and when I come back, I'm in my old dorm room. Becca's there with me having a panic attack. The helicopter she was in had spun out and crashed and she was panicking.

I was trying to soothe her; we were in the same room, but texting. She told me, "I just kept going around, and around... and I crashed..." she mimed the action with a toy helicopter she'd bought. She was talking like she was far away, and I was trying to bring her back.

I told her, "you're alright though. You survived and now you're better than ever!". As I was waking up, the text she sent back was, "I don't need to be patronized. I just had a really traumatic experience and I don't need you criticizing me. I'll talk to you later, I need some space". I was super confused and I was aware I was waking up, so I was trying to type fast and explain I hadn't mean to do that to her, but I woke up before I could let her know.
    5. A boring non lucid dream

      by , 04-16-2016 at 06:37 PM
I am at my Grandmas house. I'm in front of one the entrances to the farage, except this one is much bigger. I'm surrounded by a large pack of talking wolves, and apparently I'm their leader. I stand up on the den and look out at the backyard. I take a couple wolves down to the yard. I ask them to start howling, but they get voicecracks. So I start howling. Many wolves from our pack come, and some from the other smaller pack. But then my Grandma and some other people come out and scold me for waking people up. I then see a woman that I knew from somewhere, and somehow I knew her baby had woken up because of the howls. I go back near the den, embarrassed.
    6. Fighting at the Garden of Eden

      by , 03-21-2016 at 07:58 PM
We were driving very fast in an SUV on the outskirts of a town. My mother's ex husband (Niko) was in the driver's seat, I was in the backseat, and there were two other's with us. It's daytime and God has begun his destruction of the Earth. I saw an airplane above a town that lost control and was falling from the sky. Children were escaping from the plane with techniques they learned from school.

All of a sudden, we are going off-road at about 45 mph. I see a freeway with a tall barbed-wire gate all along both sides of it. Niko turns and jumps the SUV off of the hill we were on, runs into the barbed-wire fence and seamlessly transitions us onto the highway. The freeway was in a forested area and most cars were heading the opposite direction we were. Some cars were going slower than us, so Niko decides to weave in and out of traffic to maintain his speed.

We get to the end of the freeway at a small forest reserve-type area except that it is the Garden of Eden hidden in plain sight throughout time. We get out of the car and go to the lake about 50 ft from the car. It's night now and one of the guys shows me a sea monster under the lake. The lake is very deep and I can see through the muddy water the sea monster idly swimming. The guys says something to the effect of 'isn't it cool?'

I get up and see a pack of ferocious wolves approaching me. I pick up a stick that had a smaller, sharp stick tied to it at the end similar to a pickaxe. A wolf jumps at me and I swing and seriously injure it. As the wolf lays on the ground, bleeding, he tells me,' over there, we saved it.' Instinctively knowing he was helping me, I run over about 20 ft and pick up a gauntlet off the ground. I run back to the wolves and punch one with the gauntlet. A flash of white light comes out of the gauntlet and hits the wolf with enough force to knock him back 10 ft. I proceed to kill every wolf in the pack with one hit each until they are all dead. Then I go over to the lake and punch into it hoping it would kill the sea monster. But the punch doesn't seem to have much effect without a close target. I try to punch it again, then I woke up.

    7. Winter Wolves

      by , 10-15-2015 at 06:36 PM (Dimension X)
This was from yesterday, but I forgot to write it down... whatever.

It had a pretty simple setting, it was like I was in a national park set in winter with a bunch of other random people from my high school I recently graduated from.

Everything seemed okay, until everyone started running away from something. I didn't need to ask because when I turned around I saw a bunch of wolves far away chasing everyone. I began to run with everyone else through a tunnel bridge made of wood. There wasn't really anyone around me anymore though, everyone was separated by quite some distance. Soon enough, another bunch of wolves appeared where I was running to and cornered me somehow.

I thought I was screwed, but one wolf that looked different from the rest went near me and fended off the other wolves. It kept me safe. The others were scared to approach it, and left.

...Maybe this is the first appearance of my Dream Guide? I certainly hope so.
    8. A private elevator

      by , 08-31-2015 at 08:07 PM
I'm occupying someone else's body, and I-the-character am not entirely clear on the body's identity. A woman greets me in Korean, and following her expectations, I enter an elevator. I-the-dreamer am aware that the body I'm occupying owns this building, he's the president of a company, and this is his private elevator to his penthouse suite. There are no buttons inside the elevator; I-the-dreamer am aware it uses facial recognition, I-the-character am surprised when it starts to move.

The elevator opens onto his suite. There are a number of people in the bed, clearly after a party; the body's owner recognizes one of these people, the rest are strangers. I order everyone out; only that one exception stays. He's sitting up against the headboard, wearing an animal's pelt draped over his head, a wolf or a coyote. (It occurs to me after waking up that we were both wearing something else's skin.)

Another man appears, and he grips this man by the throat. I recognize him; he's the reason I-the-character occupied this particular body, in order to meet with him. He speaks to me, believing he's speaking to the body's owner. I-the-dreamer switch to third person because I want to see the expressions of me-the-character.

Speaking in English so that we won't be understood by the man with the animal pelt, I-the-character chide him for being "so eager to sink your teeth."

He says, "Not the only thing I'm good at. But surely we'll still eat this-"
    9. No enchanted wolves on the furniture

      by , 08-16-2015 at 05:44 PM
There's a very earnest-looking young man scaling the tower of a magician's castle, trying to reach the window where a woman is sitting. He incorrectly believes her to be held captive against her will and is trying to rescue her. She only notices him when he falls. Sounding bewildered, she calls down to him, telling him there's an easier way to get in on the other side of the castle; if he can't find it, just watch the rabbits, follow them. The man walks off.

Eventually, the woman comes outside to look for him. She finds him pinned between the wall and a black wolf with a white pattern around his eyes and chest. The wolf isn't doing anything particularly threatening. I'm aware that the wolf is the magician, though the man doesn't realize this, and the woman only suspects. The wolf starts acting like he's completely ignoring the man pinned against the wall and walks over to her, and she holds out her hand for him to sniff as if he were a dog. He ignores the hand and instead bumps his shoulder against her as he passes, and walks into the castle.

Inside, she sits the man down at the table with something to eat, and he says something that makes her laugh and twirl around. She's under the mistaken impression that he's looking for the magician, so she's treating him like a guest. She's treating the wolf the same way, and asks him which room he'd like to stay in until the magician returns. He bumps his head against the locked door of his own room, and she laughs and says sorry, no, that's quite impossible - even though she's fairly certain who he is at this point, she won't have him on the furniture in that shape.
    10. 07/02/2015 - the wolf mama

      by , 07-03-2015 at 07:43 PM
      06/02/2015 - THE WOLF MAMA

I’m at a RAPHAEL’S home. I think I don’t want to be there because it’s in a shitty part of town. I make an excuse and I leave. Next thing I remember, I’m getting a call and my friend EDUARDO tells me that RAPHAEL has just passed away. Shit.

So I go back, I get into the apartment and I see a lot of people standing in front of his bedroom’s door. They’re watching the body, I think. So I go to pay my respects and I see Raphael in bed. He’s alive. But sleeping. I get really fucking pissed and I get ready to leave when-

I notice a wolf there. I get super excited. It’s a goddamn wolf and I’m very much so a dog person. So I make friends with the wolf and she seems to really like me. We play around for a bit and I realize that the wolf has two pups. I go: “That’s it, I’m definitely taking the wolf mama and her two pups to my tiny apartment even though I already have a dog!”

The wolves and I really bond, and as we’re playing outside Raphael’s apartment, Wolf Mama bites something hard and breaks most of her teeth. Now I really can’t leave her alone, she’ll need someone to take care of her.

As I leave the building to wait for my ride I start worrying about the fact that I DO already have a dog, who doesn’t play well with others and the fact that these are goddamn wolves. Big. Powerful. They could tear my tiny dog apart. Also, I didn’t ask my mom permission to bring the wolves home. That’s when I wake up.

      Base jump

I entered a rocket that was standing on the frontyard of my house. I took a wingsuit, and suddenly TV appeared. Crowds gathered in safe zones all around, and after a countdown, the rocket started. I watched through the window as everything got more and more distant.

Suddenly the rocket stopped. I opened the door, and watched in awe the whole earth. Then I took a few steps forward and started falling down. I felt all the forces working and I felt a heavy weight on my body. I was falling quicker and quicker. When I was just about to land, I woke up.

      Trolls

I was climbing down the mountains and walking down the hill path. On the way, a huge brown lizard walked the way. I told something to him in a weird language, but this angered him. I said in "Sorry." in his lizardish language.

Suddenly I saw an old, ruined city in the valley. It was inhabitet by humans, but most of them wanted to go away from these dangerous surroundings. I looked around and saw a cavern. I wanted to see what's inside, and when I got closer, horde of trolls went out of it. They had gray-green skin, long tusks and fat bellies. Before I reacted, one of them took a huge club and striked me in the head.

I died, and saw my body from the air. I entered a menu and used load button. I appeared in the city again. I ran towards the cavern, and when the trolls appeared I started to jump. With one huge jump, I landed on a two storey building.

Dungeon crawler sense appeared. I felt a strange urge to see what's in the basement of the building. I resisted, and jumped away. I saw a river in the distance. I followed it, still chased by trolls. Suddenly, a cavern appeared in the distance, and a horde of wolves appeared. I almost got shred to pieces by trolls and wolves.

I jumped away to that two storey building. I looked around and saw that the enemies have appeared behind me. I jumped again. I flewn through the whole village, and landed in front of my house. Entering it, I found myself in a hotel. I walked the corridor and heard someone calling me. A group of three women - brunette twins and two guys - one blonde and another one brunette.

They wanted me to join them in an orgy. I accepted, and we all started.

      The fall of civilisation

A huge disaster killed many people and made all the governments to cease in existence. Survivors grouped together and made their own, small towns to start anew. I was a lone wanderer. I travelled a long way and stopped at a fortifications made by society of farmers.

I spent a few days there, and people were upset about me. I noticed that one of the farmers had trouble, and he was preparing his rifle. I asked him about that, and he told me that he has problems with wolves. I decided to help him, and readied my own weapon - a small, one gun made out of copper. It's magazine could hold only one bullet.

When the night time came, we moved to the fields. Wolves jumped out, and we started to shoot them. When I noticed that I used my whole ammo, I jumped straight into the group and wrestled with them. After a while we killed all of them.

The farmer asked me if everything is ok. I looked at my legs and saw blood spilling out of many deep bites. I told him that everything is right. We moved back to farmers city. It was nearing midnight. The farmer told me to wait for news from the local rulers.

I decided to not wait for him, and went away. I walked slowly, and when the morning came I spotted another city on the way. It was ruled by bandits, that weren't hostile towards me. I left my one bullet gun with guards, and went inside to see what I can find there.

I was on an adventure. I was traveling on a canoe over icy waters. I was being chased by... something. I entered a cave ahead, and there were two allies. One was an old man and the other was girl. From afar, I heard the wolves howling. I also saw the outline of their handler, a guy with a beard and coat (like a hunter).

I have to leave the area so that they'll chase me instead of my allies inside the cave. I swung a rope out of the cave and up (coz fuck gravity and physics) and over the cliff outside. I started to climb up and one of the two greywolves (specific) jumped up and bit/clawed me. I felt the pain on my butt (IRL, upper body to neck hurt like hell, but not butt and below) as it did.

I was able to climb over the cliff. I was above and I tried to save/filter what little water I have left/found. I was debating with myself what was best: using the saucer or using another saucer. Somehow, I felt like I was just wasting the water.

It felt like I did this adventure before in the same dream and it was just reset, and I somehow knew I should fly down into a cave (a different one?) to complete the quest. I flew down and entered a cave, and inside it was being... bulldozed? There were huge mobile machines that were turning dirt over along with huge, round, rusty coins with a hole (square?) in the center. A huge old man (huge in a cartoonish way with cartoonish proportion) wearing a... lab coat? Anyway, he went out from the inner part of the cave and waved and closed the entrance like a mouth, so whatever was outside wouldn't be able to get in.

I was led (forcefully?) into the inside part, supposedly like a prisoner/captive. I arrived inside and saw some allies making themselves at home although the looked like a military area with its similar beds and similar lockers. My female ally was dark-skinned and tall, with her ponytail braided. She looked like a Latina Lara Croft. There was also a guy, light-skinned, jock-like. I couldn't remember much of him.

I was in a mall, grocery store or mall. Red color theme, like National Bookstore. I was buying some stuff. I saw Ivan with a girl outside, and I was expecting to meet him by the entrance, but they weren't there. I thought of SM (mall) and passing by that area. (deja vu about another dream)

      Notes:

      - Fell asleep at around 5:30 p.m.
      - Woke up almost 8 p.m., no alarm
      - Upper-body-to-neck pain, none from the hip below, from parkour training
      - Was watching Cosmos (Neil DeGrasse Tyson)
    14. Dire Wolves

After messing around with magnets, and having a mixed drink, I'm driving down the street with my step brother. There's no one on the road, and we're cruising along at around 40 mph. We both spot something coming right at us up ahead in the road. It's moving fast. I slow down in case it hits us. Bigger than our car, it is a massive wolf. The head of which is a good 5 ft long, and really really big. He bares his fangs at us, and turns his head as he runs past us along the road in the opposite lane.

Feeling very vulnerable, even in the car, the road gets too snowy to drive on, so I have to get out and walk if I want to make it home. It also gets really steep. Apparently, I'm crossing the continental divide over the Rocky Mountains to get to some town in Colorado. But man is this steep, and with snow up to my chest, it's really hard to push through it. I see a few more of these beastly wolves all around me, just off the side of the road, watching me slowly make my way up the road. I get the feeling that they are guiding me, and probably won't eat me. Just probably though, so I keep my eyes on them. Luckily, I have a towel with me, so I use it to lay on, pushing the snow down to make it easier to wade through.

Since this might take me a while, I put on my hat and mittens that were in my pockets this whole time. The wolves watch me to do. I nearly lose sight of the road with so much snow, but see a massive wolf laying down in the snow ahead of me, so I walk toward it. Or to my death, but it's not like I can out run them anyway. To my left I see a few snow mobiles and four wheelers abandoned in the snow, just lightly dusted with fresh snowfall, but still with the keys in the ignition. Several of them are still running.

I think about stealing one, but decide against it. I bet whoever owns them would be pissed to come back and find it gone. So I walk past them. The road disappears, and I am looking over a 300 ft cliff. But in actuality, I'm just standing on some snow that is packed into the branches of a huge tree with snowmobiles stuck in it. Before I get the chance to even think about how this situation might have happened, unusual as it is, I feel the snow start to give way. I run toward the tree and grab onto the trunk as the snow and machines fall to the ground far below. I hear the tree start to crack apart too, so I grab a falling branch and swing down on it to the midway point of the tree. I feel incredibly lucky to have survived that, and now bear hug the trunk to slow my decent as I slide straight down the icy tree.

Landing hard in the snow, the tree starts to tip over toward me. WTF! I run super fast and dodge it while also noticing some people on the opposite side. I decide to see if they need any help, but I'm going really fast the opposite direction, so I drag my feet stopping like a hockey player, just with a 40 ft slide. Just in time though. As I stop, I notice a fence around the whole area where the tree fell, on the outside of which are a lot of those massive wolves. Just a whole lot more menacing and vicious looking than before. Growling, barking, and drooling, they give me the deathliest stares I've ever gotten from an animal. I bet if I had crossed that fence I would've been killed. Luckily there is a small town here that has some sort of magical wolf boundary or truce. Seems like a small town from Alaska.
    15. Sealing a god, adopting a nightmare of wolves

I'm standing in a cave with a group of people, discussing a man who came through here just ahead of us, someone we need to seal away - this is something he'd requested but now he's running. Our time is limited. A woman is suggesting that we use a certain box - it fits in the palm of your hand - that her husband had originally designed to seal himself in case of an emergency. She believes that her husband is no longer a threat so the box can be turned to a different purpose, and I can see her joy in that. But I refuse. No matter how safe her husband seems now, we need to save that option for him.

Following the man we need to seal, we come out of the cave into the open. There's a group of people living here who view him as a god; we avoid encountering them directly. Two of us get into a discussion on the nature of worship, talking about projecting the way your own perspective works onto a macro level, with a powerful leader to control things and a drastically overvalued role of consciousness. I make a comparison to a machine that can feel every impact of cogs and gears.

      (Woke up. Back to sleep.)

Fragmentary scenes with that woman who led the pilgrimage through the mountains earlier:

I'm sitting at a large round wooden table, eating a snack, while she's saying to me something about "would you bear hope" or would I be "a bearer of hope." I'm a little taken off-guard by this conversation, and I'm annoying her by not giving what she's saying serious consideration.

I'm surrounded by wolves, or something like wolves - they've got faces that seem built for snarling, I think of them as someone's nightmare of wolves. I can feel them as they each brush against me, rubbing closely against my legs. They're mine now apparently. I can't believe that worked, this is wonderful. I look over to that woman, standing a short distance away - I want to see her reaction. She has this sort of "you have got to be kidding me" expression. The wolves had started out attacking us, and she seems more exasperated by this turn of events than anything else.

We're standing on a snow-covered mountain, the ground here at a steep angle, with some threat above us, and I'm saying to her, "-here. I would rather stand and fight being a single person. And you, we'll-"
