    1. st. louis wish; airplane and laundry

      by , 04-21-2011 at 12:07 PM
      Good morning, everybody.

      Dream #1

There was a view that was partly like a TV view and partly like a scene that I was inside of. The view was of a kitchen. The kitchen looked like it was from a 1950s TV show, like The Honeymooners. The floor, walls, and tables were grey.

A family was in the kitchen. The children sat at the table with a man who was possibly the kids' father, although he may not have been a relation at all. The wife was walking around in the kitchen, possibly getting food ready. The children were all young, less than ten years old. The children and the mother may all have been wearing heavy nightgowns. The man was somewhat professionally dressed, and he seemed to have waxed hair and a waxed mustache.

The children and the mother were all giving the man a gift. They were going to take the man anywhere he wanted to go. The man was surprised by this gift. He put some serious effort into thinking of where he wanted to go. He may have thought of some exotic places. But then the children began playing some kind of weird tag-like game around the man's chair.

The man seemed to be having just as much fun with this game as the children were having. But the man fell in his chair at one point. He appeared to be injured. The children, who had been afraid of the man before, were now afraid of him again. He may have been knocked out, or he may have been dying. But the kids didn't want to be around when the man had regained enough consciousness to yell at the kid.

The kids ran through some kind of weird place that looked like an outdoor scene indoors. The ground was grey and slightly hilly, but it all seemed to be littered slightly with white wads of paper. The kids found some group of parents.

I was trying to make a point to everybody (even though I wasn't necessarily in the scene) that the man wasn't mad. I now saw the man. He was still lying on his back on the kitchen floor, wheezing in and out, barely conscious. He was being tended to by a man and a woman. He was saying that if he was going to go anywhere it would be to St. Louis, so he could see his family again.

      Dream #2

I was in some apartment complex. I had come out of the apartment I was in. The sky was heavy with dark clouds, as if were going to rain heavily or as if it had just gotten finished raining. A man and a woman were walking down the steps from a floor above me. We were leaving the apartment at the same time for some similar reason. We may actually have been leaving together.

I saw a huge American Airlines plane flying really low near the apartment. It flew over a deep green landscape, like trees over a rolling, suburban neighborhood. The plane was so low I thought it was going to crash. But it didn't.

I may have needed to speed up to get where I was going. I ran down a stairwell and then did someb weird move where I slid down one of the vertical poles of the complex.

I was now on the ground level of the complex (even though I may previously have been on the ground level as well). I walked around a corner of the building and went into a laundry room. I had to grab my laundry before I could leave.

Some other people had apparently used the dryers after I had put my clothes in them. The dryers and washing machines were actually stuffed full of clothes, as if at least two other groups of people had come in after me and shoved their clothes into the machines without first taking the clothes out that the previous people had left in. It also appeared to me that some people had taken some of their clothes out already. The laundry room was filled with piles of clothes.

I was kind of worried that my laundry had only been partly done. But I began to pick through all the clothes, trying to find everything that was mine, so I could leave. As I was picking through the clothes I found two pairs of panties. The panties looked like they were for a little girl. They were white and made of terry cloth. They had some design of Tweety Bird and some quote in cursive writing on the front. One pair had a purple waistband and one pair had a pink waistband.

I figured I would steal one of these pairs of panties. Probablyb nobody would notice, I thought. I knew the panties were for a little girl, but I figured I could fit into them as well. I may have decided on the panties with the pink waistband. I may have been worried about getting caught while I was stealing the panties.

I was now sitting in some living room. A woman was walking up a staircase, possibly up from a basement. I was afraid to see her, as if it just seemed so uncanny that she could appear from the stairs. But now the woman came down the stairs from an upper floor. The woman was my co-worker, SP. She was wearing boy clothes. She wore a brown, button-up shirt and a round-brimmed hat. She had a suitcase with her.

SP told me that she had gotten all her laundry taken care of and that she was now leaving. She told me that she had even seen my laundry in the laundry room. Something she said implied somehow that she had actually sorted and folded my clothes for me. I asked her if this was true. She said yes. She said that everything was laid out in the laundry room for me. I may have seen everything on a folding table with a fake wood top in my mind's eye.

SP may have made some comment about how difficult it had been to sort my clothes out of all the other clothes in the laundry room, but how she had done it because she thought it that my clothes were important enough to keep track of.
    2. Long Lucid with Lots of Flying and More Progress on Intangibility (Night of April 9)

by , 04-13-2011 at 06:30 AM (The Lab Notebook)
[This is a catchup post. This dream is from the night of April 8-9, 2011.]

Awake, Non-lucid, Lucid, [Commentary made while awake]

I'm in my current bedroom. I have my mom's purse, and I'm on my way to take it out to the living room and put it on the cedar chest, where it goes. I think I must have just woken up normally, so as I walk to the living room, I'm thinking something like, If this is the real world, then that's fine. But if this is a dream...

By the time I get out into the living room, I've figured out
that it is a dream. No specific trigger or dream sign tells me this; I just recognize the feel of the world around me, and what it feels like to be in a dream. I set my mom's purse down on the floor next to the cedar chest and turn to walk out the front door. As I move my hand away from the purse after letting go, I can see that no part of the purse or its strap is touching my hand, and yet I feel resistance on my hand, as if the strap were caught on my wrist. I realize, I can't just carelessly set it down and walk away, like in the real world. I have to think that I'm setting it down. My mind is controlling everything, and I didn't think about wanting to put it down, so it feels like I still have it. So I consciously think about letting go of the purse, and the feeling of the strap goes away.

I turn my attention to the front door. The main door is open, but the screen door is closed. It's a beautiful, sunny day outside. "This screen door..." I say to myself. I decide to take this opportunity to work on my goal of becoming intangible and walking through things. I concentrate on the ideas that door is not solid when I will it not to be, because this is a dream, and I am able to pass through it, and start walking through it. It works! I get part of the way through it, but I'm so pleased to find that it's working that it takes some of my concentration away from those ideas, which immediately causes the door to become solid again. I end up with the door stuck around the middle of my body. The door is now parallel to the ground, and my body is sticking through the hole I've created in the middle of the door. I can feel the ends of the metal wires poking me in the stomach and back. I feel very silly.

I give up on that for now and decide to just go flying again, since I know I'm good at that and it's fun. I turn back toward the interior of the house, take a step inside, and kick off the floor with my ankles, like always. I launch myself toward the ceiling and find I can easily stay up there, flying just under it in a lazy arc. I laugh out loud, feeling contented, pleased with myself, and so happy to be back in another lucid dream.

[Dreamskip.] My mom and I are riding on a train through our old town. The train runs along Church Street, which is lined with very large, elaborate church buildings in a variety of different architectural styles. [In real life, that street only has one, fairly small church building on it.] Some of the churches are still open, but others are empty and closed, and still others are now being used for other purposes. One of them is now a Ralphs grocery store. My mom says something about how our church is still open, even though several of these are closed.

The train comes to a stop. I say, “Isn't this our stop?”
[I think I was still aware that I was dreaming throughout all this, but it completely didn't occur to me to do anything other than follow along with the dream plot.] We get off the train and walk through the high-ceilinged train station until we get to the entrance of a bird exhibit. The exhibit consists of a series of crooked, jointed tubes through which visitors have to climb upwards. There are chains hanging down from the ceiling of the tube near the entrance. There are windows in the tubes so that you can see out into the birds' habitat.

I start climbing up into the tubes. There is a guy climbing in front of me. There are lots of small handles attached to the walls in convenient locations for climbers to grab on to. As I climb, I notice that one of my hands
[my right, I think] is partially numb. My ring and pinky fingers, especially, feel like they've fallen asleep. This makes it more difficult to get a solid grip on the handles with that hand, so I have to rely more on my left hand and arm.

[Dreamskip.] I'm now in this shop/museum exhibit place. I see a procession of people leave the room through one exit, including Willy Wonka as portrayed by Gene Wilder. I turn back to the interior of the shop, and see that my mom is at the checkout counter, buying something. There are several other people gathered around it. I ask an employee standing in the middle of the shop for directions to the exit. She makes a sarcastic reference to flying to get there. I reply, “Besides that.” She gives me directions to another exit. I follow her directions into another room of the shop. [At some point during this sequence, I don't remember when,] I see a page with lines from a musical written on it.

[Dreamskip.] I'm flying through an area where there are a whole bunch of big rectangular swimming pools, each with giant humanoid robots designed to look like sports players standing at either end of the pool.

[Dreamskip.] I'm flying up into space, flying backward and watching the view of the Earth below me. I go up high enough that I can see the entire round Earth at once. Then I decide to start going back down again. As I do so, I pass through a field of light-brown, rocky asteroids that surround the Earth. I see the ground getting closer and closer as I descend. I'm heading toward the center of North America.

I end up someplace in Kansas. I find myself in a large room with a bunch of other young women, all of whom are wearing old-fashioned green-and-white dresses with aprons. I tie a green cloth around my waist in an attempt to blend in with the crowd. A white pattern appears on the cloth as I watch.

The group of young women walks out of the room, and I go with them. The room proves to be underground; we exit it and go outside by walking up a sloping tunnel into the sunlight. When we get outside, I see that we're in a very well-done historical theme park with a richly detailed environment. I decide to start flying again, and I fly over the theme park, admiring the view of it from up high.

[Fragment – not sure where in the sequence this was, but I remember dreaming it.] I'm in the ocean, with waves moving around me. The waves are washing me up on to a shore. I think, Oh, crap. Is this the shore of my own subconscious? [I don't remember what came next, though.]

[The next thing I remember,] I find myself back at the area with the pools and the giant robots, still flying. I fly up in front of a robot who looks like a giant football player. He throws a football to me, and I try to catch it, but miss. He says something like, “That would have been complete for 10 yards!” I answer in a smart-alecky tone, “Yeah, it would have been complete... if my feet were on the ground!”

[Dreamskip.] I'm now in an airplane hangar, still flying. The hangar has very large windows that can't be opened. I decide to try to fly through them. I succeed.

“Holy s***! I did it!” I exclaim aloud. I've finally successfully gone through a solid object without leaving a hole in it! I'm very excited and pleased.

I fly around a bit more outside. I see that the hangar is one of many like it, all painted tan on the outside and all built in a big, dusty lot.

I woke up to discover that I'd fallen asleep with my forearms still resting against my ribcage, thus cutting off most of the circulation to my right hand and forearm. I realized that in the dream, when I had been climbing and noticed that one of my hands felt partially numb, it must have been because of the sense data coming through from my real body.

      -----------
      Side notes:

Wow! This was a really long, elaborate lucid. The dreams that I remember probably lasted a total of between 15 and 30 minutes. I accomplished this via two means:
      - setting a WBTB alarm for about 6 hours after I'd gone to bed and staying up for about 5 minutes, reading entries in my paper DJ
      - MILDing for longer and with more tenacity than I have been lately, using phrases that included "I will have a lucid dream tonight," "When I'm dreaming, I realize that I'm dreaming," and "I bring awareness and clarity into my dreams."

When I woke up and was recalling my dreams, I made a connection that I hadn't made while I was dreaming: I've passed partway into mirrors in dreams on two separate occasions before. I always know that they're going to be intangible to me, and they always are. Mental techniques and expectations similar to the ones that have allowed me to pass through mirrors should also allow me to pass through other solid things, like walls. In fact, going through the screen door worked similarly: I knew that it would be intangible to me, at least when I first set out to go through it. In the future, I just need to sustain that thought/belief/knowledge for long enough to get all the way through the object.

    3. My Epic Night of Dreams, Part 2

      by , 03-24-2011 at 04:21 PM (Krista's Dream Journal)
      Dream - Lucid - AP

I was then out in the streets downtown somewhere. I saw my old friend Lauren, dancing on top of a limo in a black dress. Getting out of the limo was a younger version of her. She was wearing a white, sparkley dress. Then a group of girls standing close to me started to dance, and so did I. Another girl told them that they didn't know how to do the dance right. They were apparently trying to do a dance from some music video.

Then, I was seeing something very disturbing. I saw someone's head being operated on in a hospital. I kept seeing people's heads being operated on, and I figured out that they were Katrina victims. I saw what looked like someone's head detached from the body, but I figured his body must be under a sheet or something, because that was impossible.

I then saw a man's head being operated on, and though he was under anesthesia, it looked like he was having a nightmare. He had his eyes shut, but was moaning and had a pained look on his face, as he thrashed his head left and right. Then, I saw the same man with half his head gone, and his brain exposed. Then, I saw that his head was completely gone from his neck, but moans kept coming from his exposed vocal cords.

      ~

I was in my family's driveway by our basketball hoop. I was at a computer, doing a project for school. The computer looked like it was at a kiosk-type thing. The neighbor was having guys over to shoot some hoops. A couple of other guys came over, a black guy that actually lives in our neighborhood in waking life, and a white guy, and started to play basketball where I was doing my project, and I told them they needed to leave because I was busy. They went back over to the neighbor's.

Then, I was at the kiosk on top of a water slide. I was at some sort of water park. My brother was there, along with a young female teacher who had an even younger teaching assistant. The teacher was trying to get something from underneath her podium. I was at the kiosk, typing away. My brother then went down the water slide, and I went down after him. We were swimming around in the water below. The water felt perfect, even a little warm.

Then, I remember getting on a small yellow airplane, but it was completely open; there was no roof. It had an old-timey feel to it, like it was the 1920's or so. The seats looked like something you'd see at an amusement park. The seats were also covered in dirt and water. I sat in the front seat, and the pilots, who were directly in front of me, took off. We didn't fly very high, but I felt scared and pushed on a brake in front of me in between the pilots. One of the pilots said to me
      "Sorry, Miss."
They then flew for a little longer, then landed.

I then remember getting back in the airplane, sitting more towards the back this time. The seat I sat in was covered in water, dirt, and what looked like blood. It was really gross, but I sat in it anyway. My butt was wet from the water. The plane tilted forward, and the water all spilled to the front of the plane.

Then, I was in a huge, roomy shower. The walls were beige, and the lighting was perfect. I was washing off, when I realized I was dreaming. I flew through the shower ceiling, and ended up in an airport. I decided I wanted to see Ryan. I ran through the airport, yelling for Ryan.
"Ryan! Ryan! Where are you?", I screamed.
I then saw my old friend Rob walking beside me. He had a suitcase in his hand. I said
"Hey Rob! Where are you going?"
      "Indiana.", he replied.
Hey! Ryan is originally from Indiana in waking life! As Rob started going through the ticket taker and security, he ripped off half his ticket and gave it to me. I was going to go to Indiana! That must be where Ryan is!

      But then, I woke up.

Wow, that was an extremely epic night of dreams...they were all very vivid too. I think it has something to do with my stress level going way down from last week and the first half of this week (had a ton to do for school -_-). And I even had 2 lucid dreams, and got my setting to change in the first one. I'm so excited to be learning how to do all of these new things in LDs!

    4. Hanggliding, Plane Flying, and Old Friends

      by , 03-16-2011 at 02:47 PM (Krista's Dream Journal)
      Dream - Lucid - AP

I was in a huge, open field with rolling hills. It was dusk. I was with some guy. I had a small airplane with a hangglider attatched to the back of it, though the hangglider didn't have any sails or anything, it was just a bar to hold on to attatched to a cord that was attatched to the plane. We were going to fly the plane and hangglide. I remember hanggliding on the back of the plane. My left hand slipped, but I got my grip back. I was not afraid, however. I was excited! There were a couple of times that I almost became lucid, but I quickly forgot. I also remember flying the plane. Both the hanggliding and plane flying were exhilerating experiences.

I remember it then being nighttime, and me and the guy were going somewhere else to fly. I remember driving on the interstate. Then, I remember encountering my old roommate, Katherine. I don't remember where we were, but I remember her saying she wanted to shoot her cat because he was becoming too much of a hassle. I wanted to offer to take him from her so she didn't shoot him, but I knew it would be pointless to try to change her mind. She seemed pretty dead-set on killing her cat. I also remember seeing her cat. He was his normal self, exactly as I remember him from waking life.

      ~

I had a weird sore on my index finger, and it was surrounded by a strange, red, dotty rash. It was very sore to touch. I tried looking up "sore inflamed finger" on Google, but all that came up were Sesame Street clips. I also remember my friend Courtney being with me at some point.

I was then at my old friend Andrew's house. We were talking, and I apologized for how things ended up with our friendship (in waking life, we kind of just stopped talking after he tried to ask me on a date and I didn't really want to go). He started talking to his dog. I think his family was there as well. Then, I started taking a shower in the middle of his living room. A few other people were there now. I stopped for some reason, talked to Andrew some more, and one of the other people. Then, I had someone plug the shower back in (apparently it was an electric shower, haha...how ironic). The socket was behind a couch. They did, and I explained that I was almost done showering. I started to shower again.

I was in a house that felt like being on top of a mountain. I was at a guy who had injured himself. the house was designed as a large aircraft. I knew none of those who was there.
The house was almost like our cabin only reversed, it was stairs going down instead of up, the rooms were almost the same place, and the kitchen and living room was where they should be.

Later I went skiing or something in a high mountain pass, it was a dive on one side and a large frozen lake on the other side. (Clear references to our cabin and the cabin area of these dreams) I was with a large group, I would see off the cliff next to a stick that was sticking up with a red banner on it. (Just as those who show the way in the desert in the game Ocarina of Time) I slid down, but no one helped me up, but I got myself up. there was a lady (with dark hair, but not the same woman as before) who said that I should slope down in the hill there. I said that I would break every bone in my body. she said what and I said then we would have to go to the hospital. On my way up I saw a red banner over the lake.(Maybe showing me another path here) The whole group was heading towards a cave, right by where I slid down. (It was more of the banners farther away, I drew a drawing.

I landed at an airport. It was like the airport was high in the sky also, the gates floated, and it looked like a space station. Then suddenly I was down under the platforms (the gates). It was a football field. I think it was a local team playing. The arena was bigger than any football court I have seen, but there were no people in the stands, for there were no spectators, only big fat walls. I sat down in a staircase. the walls were blue, and of plastic, as were the stairs, just like you'd expect in a swimming hall. but the color of the stairs was gray. there were white lines under the blue. Some of my buddies walked towards me, so then I ran up the stairs, and was on top again.

I was high in the sky all the time in these dreams. I dunno why. I also dreamt that I got my paycheck somewhere in those dreams. I wonder if the numbers are correct with what I actually get.

...I smoothly transitioned back into the dream state and realized I was still on the beach. It was night time though, and I decided to try and raise the sun. I left the beach area and walked to the other side of a nearby house. I looked into the sky, raised my hand slowly, and imagined the sun rising. Slowly, the sun began to peak out from the surrounding mountain ranges. The sun was a bright neon purple color. I raised it all the way up over the mountain range and it started to pulse. The sun was firing off deep purple shock waves that mixed into the dark sky...tenting the dark sky a deep purple color. As the shock waves passed over stars, the stars began to flash (twinkle) in many different colors. The stars began swirling and formed trippy formations. There were mushrooms, alien heads, u.f.o.'s, a dog house, large 5-point stars, and some other things. The stars were flashing different colors and the entire sky was like one big acid trip (maybe, I've never done acid, but you get the picture...lol). After just watching for a while, I decided to go ahead and light the sky normally. I looked off into the horizon and imagined the sun rising. With little effort, the sun rose into the sky, eliminating the atmospheric disco in the process.

I decided to call out to Seine (my dream pet/accomplice...he is a lunar wolf). I called his name several times and he eventually came barreling up over the nearby hill and stopped beside me. I telepathically said to him, "Lets fly!" I hopped onto his back and we took flight. The wind felt amazing against my face. The sun was warm, but unlike real life, I could stare directly into it and my eyes weren't effected. We flew over several mountains and forests when I spotted an airplane flying to my left (it was up much higher in the air than we were). Seine immediately howled and made a sharp turned toward the plane. He started growling and flew in its direction. I grabbed him by the fur on the back of his neck and turned him away. "No, we can't follow that right now, I'm looking for something!" I could tell he wasn't pleased, but he turned and continued in the direction I was steering him. He soon forgot about the plane and was wagging his tail as we flew. I pushed down slightly on his neck and he plunged toward the ground. I pulled up on his fur just before we hit then ground and we flattened out parallel to it. We began flying through a twisted path through the woods. There were tall, thick masses of trees on either side as we winded deeper and deeper into the forest. Soon the area opened up to a small lake (or possibly a large pond). I noticed some strange formations on the other side of the pond, so I steered us across. As we crossed the pond/lake I kicked off my shoes and let my feet skim the water. It was refreshingly cool. I dismounted Seine and felt the soft fluffy grass between my toes as I walked toward the strange formations.

I noticed they were extremely small houses. There was an entire mini village. The houses were around 1 or 2 feet tall. There were small sidewalks, mailboxes, and picket fences. I looked into one of the windows and saw the blur of a tiny person quickly slamming closed the curtains. All the houses windows were blocked by curtains. I saw a tiny note laying on one of the houses porches. I tried to read it, but I made the mistake of starting over and all the words had changed. It started with "Return to your giant village and...." There was quite a bit more, but I accidentally changed it. I looked out beyond the tiny village and saw a huge wall. As I examined the wall, I noticed that it belonged to an enormous house. To this house, I was about the size of an action figure (maybe a little bigger). There were many more houses behind it and it appeared to be a giant village. I was just about to take flight and explore the giant village, when the dream began to fade. I didn't want to risk forgetting this very vivid dream, so I allowed myself to wake.

    7. Flight over Louisville, and Making Use of Lucidity

by , 02-08-2011 at 05:56 PM (The Lab Notebook)
Awake, Non-lucid, Semi-lucid, Lucid, [Commentary made while awake]

The first thing I remember is thinking, I should really do an RC. [I have no idea why I thought that, but I did.] I do, and discover that I can breathe through my nose while holding it shut. Strangely, though, I find I can't do anything more than that, besides lie there. I can't even see anything around me. I try to get up, but I can't. I think, "I have no mouth, and I must scream," but I don't really mean it; I'm not afraid or even really concerned, just slightly puzzled, and I'm just observing that my situation is comparable to the one for which the short story is named.

[Later, I had a really, really cool non-lucid.] My mom, P., and I get into the open, upholstered back seat of a tiny little wooden propeller plane, big enough for the three of us and a pilot, who sits in a seat in front of ours. The plane takes off from the airport in the city of Louisville, which I know [in the dream] is the greenest city in America. [It looks nothing like the real Louisville.] We fly over the city in our plane, admiring the view. There is a big building with cascades of water gushing through big, rectangular openings on one side. I think, I hope that's a power plant. It obviously is, powering the entire city. The city is very beautiful from the air. It is on a very flat, sandy plain, next to the ocean. [Wait, what?! Real!Louisville is landlocked! It's by a river, but it's not the same thing.]

The little plane flies low over the ocean, so that we can dip our rubber-thong-sandal-clad feet in the water as we fly along. Then, suddenly, I find myself in the ocean water, holding on to a dark purple foam mat that floats in the water. I'm wearing my favorite swimsuit [that I have in real life]. I see the plane, floating with most of the plane below the surface of the water, the pilot still in his seat. I hang on tightly to the foam mat to keep myself afloat, knowing that I can't swim. [Strange; I could swim back on February 2.] There are other swimmers in the water besides me and my family. A young man grabs hold of my mat and flips it up and pushes it over onto me, trying to use it to playfully push me under the water. I pretend to go along with it, but manage to keep my head above water. [Now that I think of it, I was much more buoyant in the water in this dream than I am in reality, and could keep an arbitrary amount of my body above water, just like in my dream on February 2; I just wasn't aware that I could do that this time.]

My family and I get back onto the plane, which is getting ready to take off from the water. I have a conversation with the pilot about how there have to be at least two feet of distance between the surface of the water and the wings of the plane in order for it to take off. It takes off with the help of a wave that gives it a push from behind, then climbs back into the sky. The pilot says something about how he's heading back to the airport, since it's so close by that there will be practically no weather at all there. The plane returns to the airport and lands there.

[Later in the night, after a very brief WBTB.] I'm talking about being a lucid dreamer [whether to myself or to someone else, I'm not sure]. I ramble on about the mental discipline I have to have for a bit, not really paying attention to what I'm saying. Suddenly, I realize that for the last several sentences, I haven't been talking about lucid dreaming at all; I've been talking about being kind and behaving well toward other people. At some point, without realizing it, I shifted from talking about being a lucid dreamer to talking about being a Christian. I say to myself, “That's a good sign. It means my subconscious has its priorities in order.”

I'm in House #1, and am now definitely lucid. Everything around me is vague and blurry. I try to focus my attention on some of the scenery to make it clearer, and it works a little bit, but the house looks as if I'm looking at it through dark, spot-and-fingerprint-covered sunglasses. I'm walking back and forth in the master bedroom, which is much more spacious than it was in the real House #1. I remember that my dreaming goal for tonight was to practice delivering my 30-second commercial, so I start practicing.

"Hello, my name is (Emiko)," I say. "I'm a computer technician... networking technician... I'm a computer technician who specializes in networking."

I go on to say the same thing I've been saying almost every time I've practiced this, about saving money for my previous employer. I can't think of anything new and creative to add to my 30-second commercial. I'm rather surprised. I had expected the words and thoughts to flow more easily here, but it's actually a little bit harder to deliver a good 30-second commercial in a lucid dream than it is in reality.
[So much for using all of your brain's potential while you're dreaming. Not for that purpose, anyway. I suppose my brain was also busy generating the scenery around me. Or maybe I just need to gain more dreaming experience. I don't know.]

There's another reason why I'm having difficulty practicing my 30-second commercial: I'm distracted by my stuffy nose, which is now running. I wipe it with a black paper napkin with white polka dots on it, remarking, “I didn't think dream bodies could get sick like this!” As I continue pacing the master bedroom, I think, I could try walking through that wall there if I wanted to, but I decide not to, because I have something more important to work on while I'm here.

I step forward far enough to see around the corner into the bathroom, to the left. I see the DC version of my mom there. She's wearing a light yellow T-shirt and is crouched down, apparently looking for something under the sink. I say, “Oh. Hi, Mom. I have this cold right now. I don't know why I'm telling you this. Just to let you know.”

She says something along the lines of, “Well, don't get it on me.” I turn away, looking back into the master bedroom, and discover that I can now see everything with perfect clarity. “Oh, now I can see!” I exclaim, slightly annoyed. I walk toward the other end of the room, aiming to explore beyond another doorway into another part of the house.
[Stupidly,] I close my eyes, and then open my real eyes. I'm disappointed in myself when I realize that I've lost the dream by doing something that I know better than to do.

    8. Floating Around in the Arlington Theater (Night of January 4-5)

by , 02-05-2011 at 07:43 AM (The Lab Notebook)
[This is a catch-up post. This dream is from the night of January 4-5, 2011.]

Awake, Non-lucid, Lucid, [Commentary made while awake]

I'm flying around a large, elaborate, indoor shopping mall that has an upstairs and a downstairs level. [I don't remember how I became lucid, but I did.] Like real malls I've been to with upstairs and downstairs levels, there are lots of open spaces connecting the two. I fly down through one of them to get into the lower level and explore it. Some of the people who are in the mall see me flying, and I talk to some of them.

The lower level is completely enclosed with no windows. It's all painted off-white and appears to be mostly offices, rather than shops. When I get into this enclosed area, I start walking. I encounter a female DC and we start talking. At one point, I actually tell her, “You're a dream character!” She either ignores this or doesn't hear me, I don't know which.

While exploring the corridors and passageways of this enclosed lower level, I find a door that is an entrance to the Arlington Theater.
[Although I identified it as such, it didn't quite look like that in the dream. It looked like a big theater for live performances, but without the decorative, themed walls, and even bigger and wider than the real one.] When I enter the theater, I exclaim, “I was looking for this place!” Then it occurs to me, Couldn't you have used an ability to get here faster, rather than just searching for it? I go to take an empty seat next to some of my high school friends. The performance we're watching is a live-action version of Jaws. At the end, I walk up to the very front of the theater and take a picture of the audience.

Then, I feel a need to start floating upward, just like a helium balloon, so I allow myself to. The ceiling of the theater is made up of several layers of pieces of canvas stretched out with ropes. I make my way between the pieces of canvas, sometimes detaching a corner and folding it back, until I float out of the building and into the sky.

The next thing I remember is being on a street corner. My dad and sister bicycle past me and tell me to stop at the corner before crossing the street, to be safe. I say yes, I will. I walk along the road I'm on. I think vaguely of trying to do something else cool, like run really fast, but I don't do it.
I look at a photo [presumably the one I took of the audience in the theater; I'm working off brief handwritten notes here] in what I at first think is reality before I figure out that it must still be in my head, because I know that I was dreaming when I took that picture.

While still outside on the street
[I think; not sure of the specifics of the transition here], I suddenly find that I'm lying down, and my entire body is vibrating. When I look up and to my left, I see a sleep paralysis monitor. It's measuring how much I'm vibrating. It looks like an oscilloscope, kind of like this one, only in the dream, the screen is all black and there's only one bright-green line across it, that grows thicker and takes up more of the screen as the SP intensifies. Below that line is a numeric readout, also bright-green, that jumps from 40% to 88% as I watch. Below the numbers, I see the words “You did it!” appear on the screen.

So this is what sleep paralysis feels like, I think. I know what it is, but I'm still just a little freaked out by the all-over, shaking, vibrating sensation.
I realized that I had to be waking up and thought, No! I don't want to wake up yet! Go back! I tried to DEILD, but I couldn't think of a scene to visualize, nor could I calm myself down enough to visualize one. Eventually, the feeling went away, and I was awake and back to normal. [First time I've ever woken up into SP. Very interesting.]

When I went back to sleep after that, I had another non-lucid dream. This time, I'm in my church. The room seems to be the same size and shape as it is in reality, but lots of things about it are different. The piano is front and center [rather than off to the side], and I'm sitting a few feet behind the piano bench, with my chair up against the windows that form the front wall of the room. I'm watching Wendi play the piano. We talk to each other about something. We're attending Betty's memorial service [which was held the Saturday after I had this dream, and I knew that both Wendi and I were planning to attend].

Later, when we're at the burial service, I look down into the box that forms the underground enclosure for the coffin, and I can see furniture inside it.

After the service, I leave the church building. Outside it is a big, complex interchange of road overpasses and underpasses that spans across a straight main road. Airplanes are using this main road as a makeshift runway. I walk across one of the overpasses with my family to get to the overpass on the other side.

      ----------------
      Side notes:
This was the second night that I wrote down a goal before going to bed. This time, I wrote: “Goal: become lucid, look around at scene, make sure it's stable, then see what other verbal commands I can use.” This time, I accomplished the first two, but forgot about the second two. So far, based on two nights of experience, my working hypothesis is that writing down my goals is definitely helping me to achieve them, but that in the future, my goals should only consist of one or two actions at most, not three or four, because I don't seem to be remembering more than two.

NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID FALSE AWAKENING PRECOG SHARED

      23.45

      Fragments

I’m at home with my new BF/fiancée, who I don’t recognize. I hear a kitten meowing and I look for him. Instead of a kitten, I find a dead bird drowned on something with water. I try to revive him with no success so I put him down on a shelf.

I decide to organize the bookshelf which is full of diaries and albums. Zilla is with me and steals one of my most recent diaries and runs away to go read it. I try to get it back. She opens on a random page and finds an episode in which I confess (it even has pictures) of having had a crush for some teacher back in 2000.

Somewhere on a road, buses are passing by and I should get into one, but have no idea which one would take me home. I make a sign to stop a random bus. One stops but not for me, only because one of its passengers was questioning the driver about the directions they were heading to and they are discussing it. I keep walking.

      2:30

      Ghosts
Walking along train tracks with friends and mothers of friends. We see an airplane free falling and coming to hit the ground exactly where we are. I run and escape, but they don’t. I then pass by a stand selling second hand clothes. I want to buy something because later I might have to wait for my mother standing outside in the cold and my clothes are really not warm enough. But I only have coins in my pockets and no wallet. I also realise I have no docs or keys to go back home. I keep going. Someone tells me I’m being escorted by ghosts and I find it is the ghosts of my friends. I decide to go meet their families to let them know. The first family I visit I encounter Carlos (a guy who had a crush for me in school) and I am happy to know that he is now an actor and performs for the benefit of several causes. But while the rest of the family accepts the news peacefully, he is the one over dramatizing.

      4:30

      Temples and farming tips
On a Japanese temple in the middle of a lake. I become lucid when I hear birds singing and I can distinguish clearly the songs of each one individually. The sound of the water, the roughness of the rock and the colours of the wood, are all intense and detailed. I look around and I see this is a complex of temples. I float through the air in half-lotus position until I reach the main temple where I want to meditate. I offer prostrations to the Buddha with dozens of other persons from several distinct Buddhist schools. Then I’m invited to join a group meditation on a room to my right side, which I accept. The room is inclined, making it extremely uncomfortable to sit on the floor, but I manage to get a pillow to make it better. We are then interrupted by some lady who warns everybody that the last bus to go back to hotel is about to leave in 15 mins. I lose lucidity for a while and I think I’m with them, so when they leave I follow them. But along the way I recover lucidity and ignore them. I cross a bridge and find an agricultural field. I’m surprised to recognize the farmer who is growing maize there - it's Lucas. He is demonstrating a new irrigation system he created. Because I’m about to become a farmer to, I show interest in his technique. I prepare to memorize the design and materials when he turns it on and I get all wet.
Later on I ask him some questions and write them down on a notebook.

      6:00

Family secrets and man in black attack again
With dad and rest of the family at my late granny’s home. Dad is about to leave to go somewhere but I go after him ‘cause I forgot to ask him something. My cousin Cris comes with a yogurt maker she wants him to take in the car. He agrees to take it later, but hands it over to me for now.
Then back inside the house, I went to store the machine on some storage room and found a secret entrance to a whole secret section of the house nobody ever told me about. Not just a room, but a long corridor full of rooms. My cousin knew about it and I ask why she didn’t tell me. She says our parents found out after our granny died, but out of respect for her, they decided not to ever go there. I found that stupid. My dad finds out about my interest and offers to grant me access to an office which is right at the entrance under his supervision. He tells me he himself used to go there secretly with permission from my grandma and none of his brothers knew.
But I’m not satisfied with the offer. I later ask my friend Zilla to come help me explore the whole thing. We sneak in through the secret passage. I find a room with a closet full of nice dresses and I immediately pick a dark blue one I think it’s awesome. I believe my grandma would want me to use them instead of having them rotting. I then find another room where apparently she used to rest. By the side of a bed, I find a notebook with some cryptic annotations that look religious or of some kind of cult. I think I found something important. I then hear footsteps. I tell ZIlla to close the door and duck behind the bed. She locked the door and someone tries to open it. I’m getting nervous. Then from a wall of this room, a secret passage opens and two people in dark suits come out of it. I laugh nervously and ask in a playful manner who they are and how they knew about that passage. They don’t respond and simply grab me. The one that grabs me is a strong black lady and she sticks a needle in my arm. Zilla is trying to open the door to run away, but she can’t. I fight back and take the needle off my arm and stick it on my aggressor. She laughs at me, saying it’s useless, ‘cause the drug was a very effective tiny portion and is all on my blood right now. I suck my arm, trying to get it out and delay the effects, but to no point. I black out. Then I wake up.

    10. Airplanes, again, Yodel's, failures.

      by , 01-03-2011 at 09:54 PM
So, decided to try the WILD method this afternoon, failed miserably, didn't even had sleep paralysis, but it was not fruitless. I fell asleep, and I dreamed.
The first thing I remember was going at Yodel's, a restaurant in the USA, with a friend of mine. Strangely, something happened before so that the restaurant was breeding some sort of giant cow, and inside, all the waitresses were using only panties and bikinis, plain white ones, but there you go. We - me and my friend - walked to the end of the line, and waited for everybody else to make their orders. When it was finally our turn, my friend, who does not speaks English, had some trouble ordering. Weirdly, he ended up ordering some crackers ( these, to be exact. ). Then we discovered the clerk girl spoke Portuguese, our mother language, but his order remained the same. I ordered a bottle of water, and a slice of peanut butter pie, but I never got to taste it, or at least I don't remember doing.
      Everything next is fuzzy.
Then, I was on an Airport, waiting for something. It looked very ordinary, and kind of endless, but blue was the main color of it. The chairs were comfortable, and I left my backpack on top of another chair, which, at some moment, was being used by a girl, playing with anything that was inside the backpack. Her father, who looked very much alike Terry Crews, noticed his daughter's doing, and started to call her back, when suddenly, a giant car-thing appeared out of nowhere and was about to kill his daughter, along with my precious backpack. He stopped the car with his arms, and started shaking it, scaring the pilot, and then he proceeded to grab my almost-ruined backpack, take it to the middle of a group of people, and ask them who owned that bag. Someone sitting right in front of him said he was, so Terry Crews, or his twin brother, threw the backpack at him, muttering something, while the sitting man just smiled, and taunted him with something I did not quite understand. I walked, a bit angry, in his direction, and snatched my backpack out of his hands, and I was walking away when he started to taunt me as well, something about "Fixing it in his house" or something, I didn't really understood what he meant by that. Still doesn't.
      That's it.
    11. Water From a Biplane

      by , 12-20-2010 at 06:20 PM
Morning of December 20, 2010. Monday.

I am with my lovely wife Zsuzsanna. There is anticipation of intimacy but we are first to travel elsewhere by flight. We are in a blue biplane, though it is in a hangar and I illogically do not fully consider the need to leave the hangar before flying our airplane. (This lack of reasoning of which relates to liminal space ambiguity in REM has occurred in many other dreams.)

Zsuzsanna is wearing a beautiful cyan gown. Looking closely, I see denser bird silhouettes in the otherwise lacy sparse material in a flying form in what seems to be fairly small embroidered patterns. She is on my right (an atypical orientation, as she always sleeps on my left, though that may be because she is awake at the time).

The dials in the biplane seem to be more like clocks than altimeters or other cockpit-relevant displays. It looks like one says “12:20” (in an analogue clock display, not digital), which is today’s date (and also my birthday).

To my immediate left, some sort of vertical pipe that connects the wings seems to have a leak where some water is flowing out. I try to stop the leak with a piece of what seems to be part of a pillowcase or bed sheet.

I notice one of Zsuzsanna’s shoes off to the right on the floor.

The pipe that connects the wings of the biplane on my left side seems somewhat detached and I wobble it around a bit, somewhat puzzled. I am not sure if the airplane is ready to take off and fly even though I start to hear a humming sound, though I soon wake.

    12. Fragment for December 16 2010

by , 12-17-2010 at 06:07 AM (Sailing the Noosphere)
I'm hanging out with one of my advisers from my summer internship. He's filming a documentary about global warming, and he walks through the halls of his university as I follow him in a powered wheelchair (having great fun as I do this). He and the film crew then take off for London, and I follow them onto the plane. I realize that I haven't packed anything for the trip and start to freak out.
    13. Oblivious to a zombie apocalypse

      by , 12-11-2010 at 01:47 PM
The dream starts with me sitting on the edge of a bed at night in what looks like a maze as there was high hedge walls all around me. There were flame lit torches at the different pathways. I heard voices from one of the pathways so i went towards it. My dream skipped to me actually finding the people since i felt relieved since I'd eventually found them. There was one guy and three girls. They all looked really familiar but i cant place them. After some talking they led through a part of the maze to another opening, but this one looked like it an exit, onto a pier made of bamboo. It was getting close to dawn now as the sky was getting slightly brighter. There was no there land insight and the water was placid with small patches of mist on it. Out of nowhere the guy and one if the girls started arguing then the girls pushed the guy into the water and walked back into the maze, with the other girls in tow. I stayed looking towards the east for the sunrise, the guy was just getting out of the water. After he did he walked into the maze aswell. Again i stayed watching to the east. I heard some more arguing then one of the girls came to me and told me we got to go now. Then the dream skipped again and it was morning now and I was walking in a town that was a bit messy, I didn't know why. Then i noticed odd things like a crashed helicopter and some abandoned cars but the girl took no notice of them. I checked the girl out when she was walking in front of me. She had an amazing figure with an ass you could bounce a pound off and you get a twenty lol. She was a brunette with her hair tied up in a loose knot at the back of her heard, it looked messy but so damn hot at the same time. I definitely knew this girl but still couldn't place her. She was wearing a denim mini skirt but not whore mini, more acceptable summer mini. Her legs were what really made me slap myself trying to place her, they were the most perfect let of legs I've seen, the kind you cant get with just toning, these things where a gift from god! She was wearing a zipper/hoody thing but she still looked pretty hot. ANYWAY back to the dream. We kept walking and we didn't seed a single living thing. Then we got to a big plane, an airbus probably since it was massive, and i saw what looked like the pilot milling around at the hatch area. The girl told me to stopped and she looked as she was cautious and scared at the same time. The pilot disappeared behind some stuff and we hurried for the hatch. There was a ladder Close by, the girl instructed me to get it as she looked about for the pilot. I thought we were breaking in or something so i was trying to be as quiet as possible. We managed to get into the hull of the plane eventually, then my dream made no sense because to get to the plane i had to crawl through some sort of plastic tunnel as if i was where the engine was. The planing was moving now at a decent speed. And the pilot was running pretty fast up beside the plastic tunnel. Then i realized he was a zombie! His face was bloody and he was trying to claw at the plastic tunnel but he couldn't reach. I knew hat when i got onto the tunnel it would sag and he could reach me but the girl was hurting me so i just ran for it. If I kept moving the zombie couldn't reach me so I was stumbling forward as fast as I could. Once or twice I felt the zombie claw at my foot but i kept going. I got to the other side and I was trying to get in but after i stuck my upper half in I realized there must be a zip or something to let u out of the tunnel but i couldn't find it so i was pushing and clawing trying to rip the exit open. At the same time the zombie was doing the exact same thing, pulling bits of plastic off ripping the tunnel apart. I was shitting myself, the girl was screaming and crying at the other side since she couldn't get to this side now. The tunnel was in two pieces now and i still hadn't made it through. The zombie grabbed on to my leg and was trying to climb it's way up my back. I got angry now and started smashing my heel into it's face but it kept coming. I knew where she was taking me was probably a safe house so i didn't want to jeopardize it so I let go and fell onto a runway of sorts without the zombie. We crashed into the ground rolling to a stop. The zombie had let go but it had also got up faster and was running towards me at a ridiculous speed. I got up and ran in the opposite direction towards a hanger. As i got closer I could see more zombies so i thought I'd have a better chance fighting this one on it's own. I switched back and ran past a swinging zombie ,narrowly missing my face, towards a baggage cart. I was so tired and my lungs were burning but I couldn't stop because i could hear the growls of the persistent zombie the whole way. When i got there i say a big wrench so i picked it up and swung as i was turning, i smashed the zombie square in the jaw, his head was a bloody mess, more than usual anyway. He lay still, i was relived i sat on a pile of bags and then lay back trying to catch my breath. Looking at the sky thinking "what the fuck is going on?!" at that exact moment a zombie head popped into my field of vision. We where face to face but he was upside down ( imagine scene from spiderman when he kisses the chick hanging upside down, but in this case I'm about to become food) It happened so quickly i couldnt movie out the way in time. It was the same fucking zombie I'd smashed without the wrench. As he tore into my throat i thought of how stupid i was for not checking if it was dead.

I woke up after i faded into darkness in the dream. This has been one of the most detailed dreams I've remembered, it was amazing. It felt so real even thigh i wasn't lucid. I wish i was coz i wanted a piece of that chick so bad! Lol

In my car. It's morning and I am driving to work. I am waiting to make a left turn onto 3rd street toward the freeway ramp. I am looking at the stopped cars on the opposite side of the intersection. Suddenly, I see a military jet fighter flying toward me. It dips down toward the cars on the other side of the intersection. It dips so low that it flies under a curved street lamp. Then it pulls up sharply and to the left and continues out of sight. I think that's pretty strange. It's not unusual to see military helicopters flying low around Los Angeles, but I've never see a jet flying like that. I realize it's too weird and I must be dreaming. I nose plug to confirm. Immediately have a false awakening in my own bed. I'm still lucid for a moment but very startled and shortly wake up for real.

    15. airstrip town, bookstore pole climb, trashy victoria's secret, fixing shower curtain

      by , 11-30-2010 at 01:15 PM
Good morning, everybody. I remember four dreams from last night.

      Dream #1

I was in a big airplane, either in the cockpit or near it while its door was open. In the plane were just me, the pilot, and one of my male friends. The sky outside was grey and wet.

We were taxiing down a runway. We picked up speed, as if we were going to take off. But we weren't getting up enough speed, in my opinion.

I could see from outside and just above the plane. The runway we were on looked way too short for our plane to get up enough speed to take off.

We taxied around the runway roads, clockwise, trying to loop back around and hit the long runway again with a little bit of momentum so we could build up enough speed to take off.

But somehow we ended up (as if we had been travelling counterclockwise) driving the plane outside of the airstrip and onto a strip of road before a large, Victorian-style house. The house was adjacent with the chain-link fence bordering the airport.

A military man in camouflage stood beside the airplane, talking with the pilot, as if he were just standing beside the window of some bus, not a huge airplane. The military man was older, white, tanned, with shortish, square-cut, white hair.

The military man said that the town in which this airport was located was being evacuated soon, anyway. Once it was evacuated, nobody would mind us using the public streets as a runway. That way we could easily get up enough speed to take off.

The military man said, "Heck, maybe even some of the people we evacuate out of the town would like to fly some planes with you!"

Somebody, maybe I, suggested that we get "some of those little planes" (in my mind's eye I saw cone-shaped planes maybe 3-4 meters long, painted white with red triangles pointing away from the nose). The "little planes" could easily get up enough speed to take off from a small runway like this.

We drove the plane away. The military man said he'd order some of "those little planes." He may even have started talking with a younger military man about the order.

It was now night. I stood before the Victorian house, in some little niche set between the wall and the staircase up to the front door. In the niche was an old-style, wooden podium. The podium may have held a big book.

I was probably here to talk to the military man regarding the little planes. I wasn't trying to speed up the order. I was actually trying to figure out what the planes were, to see if they were the right things to use. But I figured my being here to ask about the planes would make me look impatient, and that I'd get on the military's bad side because of it, if I didn't do things the right way.

Somebody came out to talk to me. He was a younger soldier, in formal dress, even a hat (which kind of looked like a Nazi hat). He explained a few things to me about the higher-ups' names. I tried to keep it all in mind.

The man saluted me. I was so surprised that I saluted back, with tears in my eyes (for some reason). Somehow I could see the man reflected in my tears, as if the tears were the surface of sunglasses.

I was alone again. I turned to the book in a frenzy. I had just forgotten everything the man had told me. The high-up military man's name was Wellinghoff. Or was it Norris? I couldn't remember. And I couldn't remember the correct titles of all the higher-ups, either.

      Dream #2

I was in a bookstore or library. It had an old feel to it. It was all made of wood. It was open, with a ground level and probably a balcony level running along the walls. The ceilings were very high. The center of the store was mostly small, wide tables with books displayed on the. The walls were lined with shelves.

I saw, from high up, a couple of my female friends. One of them was aw woman I haven't seen since college. I decided to go say hi to them.

To get to them I began climbing down a wooden pole about 20cm in diameter. I was climbing down the pole head first for a way. Then I did some weird kind of fllip move so that I was climbing down feet first.

I ended near some small, tight, spiral staircase, for which this long pole may have served as a support column. The pole seemed to end a couple meters above the ground. I had to jump the rest of the way down. The two women were right nearby.

I slowly, flexibly reached away from the pole. I relaxedly leapt away from the pole, almost as if I were floating away from it. I landed very softly on my feet.

Thinking that the women would think I was showing off with all I had just done (I wasn't exactly sure myself how I had done it), I started talking naturally to act like nothing had happened.

I began fumbling through a couple of books and even something that looked like a mix between a woman's wallet with a tiny mirror on the front. The wallet may have been a dark blue suede, and it may have had some black and white photo of a famous actress or famous work of art on it.

      Dream #3

I was in a department store. The store looked kind of cheap and run-down. I was now at the counter, getting my stuff rung up. The person ringing me up was a woman, but I don't know if she was older or younger.

Something went wrong, and the woman needed to wait before she charged me. I decided to walk around the store some more.

Off to the left of the cash register and a little ways away was a rack of really cheap-looking lingerie. For some reason, I decided to look through it. I took a few items off the rack, as if I were either going to buy them or try them on.

At some point, I came to the conclusion that I was in a Victoria's Secret.

I looked down into a plastic tub (?) which had a few stray pairs of panties inside. I figured that if I was buying or trying on the lingerie, I'd also need to try on some panties. So I tried to pick some out.

I remember one pair of panties that was like a thong, pale yellow, with a cottony back and a sheer, net-like front with flower designs on it. Another pair was like briefs. The material was blue like denim. But it had a weird, scaly look and feel.

Just to my left was a window wall. Just beyond the wall was another rack of lingerie. A big, tall, black man in a black t-shirt and sunglasses was fingering through the lingerie. I could see that he was also looking for articles of lingerie to try on.

      Dream #4

I was in "my shower," which was a shower-only stall. It was set into the end of the narrow bathroom.

Either my shower curtain had broken or I had decided I'd needed to adjust it somehow. I took the curtain off the rod. Then I tried to put it back on.

I suddenly realized that by taking the curtain off the hook I'd screwed everything up. The curtain was actually just a gigantic plastic bag, like an enormous version of a grocery bag. The bag had been folded around the rod and against the wall (even into holes in the wall?) in so many weird ways that I likely couldn't replicate it.

I figured I'd do my best and try to re-do things. I was up on the wall, looking down on the shower curtain. I don't know how I was up there -- possibly by holding myself in place by doing the splits and holding each foot against the wall? I began working on the gigantic plastic bag.
