      Lucid

This dream was already posted by me in another thread, but I think it will be good to add this one to my dream journal also.

I am just walking around New York, sightseeing. I have walked around the city on the sidewalk for quite some time, seen all the skyscrapers. Eventually I find my way to a run-down Brooklyn neighborhood. As I explore, I wander into a dead end side alley. It is between two buildings. (the most vivid part)The buildings are literally brown boxes with windows. Some of the windows are boarded up, others have balconies and clothes are hanging from the balconies. There is also a sting from the top of one building to the other and it has clothes hanging from it. At the side of one building in the alley there is a huge dumpster and next to it a rusty old truck that looks like it's seen better days. Anyway, I notice a door at the end of the alley. It opens, and this alien person comes out of the building. He is wearing a black business man suit. He has blue skin, yellow eyes with vertical slit pupils, big white mustache, a scar under his eye, and strange bony projuctions from his lower jaw. He comes to me and gives me a metal sphere the size of a basketball. It is engraved in strange characters and geometric designs that glow light. He gives it to me and tells me to "read it". That's when I woke up. I'm a good drawer and after I woke up I drew his appearance on a paper. Click to see it.

    2. #31 - Bad Drivers/Lucid #3/Talking to friends

      by , 10-16-2014 at 10:57 PM (The Oneironaut's Odyssey)
      Black: Non-dream
      Blue: Non-lucid
      Red: Lucid

Note: There were a lot of friends that know, used to know, or haven't seen in a while. Through out all these dreams I seemed to see a whole bunch of them.

Dream 1 - Bad Drivers (before 05 00 - birds started chirping about 30 minutes after I woke so it's a rough estimate).
I am in my university, heading to field (the field is much larger, and has a dirt wall on the left) to meet someone. I remember that my old biol group is meeting too, and I don't want to meet them so I consider running up the side of the dirt wall to get past them. This train of thought is interrupted, as I'm walking I see a crowd of people and a truck just speeds towards them. I SWEAR this truck hit a person, but when is passed there was no one who was injured... I look off to the left and see a bus speeding towards me and the crowd! We all scatter to avoid it, I turn around heading towards a construction area where they're setting new pavement. I remember walking back knowing that the bus has passed, I seem to somehow be talking to a construction worker, I talk weirdly, as if I had a foreign accent... Haziness ensues until I'm walking down the ramp inside the cafeteria building (I remember that it seemed more club-esque style, black walls and dimmed lights etc). I am utterly shocked, because at the bottom of the ramp is my best friend D! He's looking at his phone, I haven't seen him for about a year so I just run towards him and bear hug him . He's apparently gay too, and I hug his boyfriend so he feels welcomed or something.

      Dream 2 - Lucid #3 (07 00ish)
I'm in my high school walking along beside a bus (I used to bus back and forth from school). I see ahead of me my old friends, and M who I used to be really tight with but he moved away. I'm overwhelmed with the same happiness I had when I had seen D in the previous dream, I start running to tackle-hug him, but I stop. The feeling spurs a déjà vu effect, I realize instantly that I'm dreaming. I don't even do a reality check, I start to float and fly away (this has happened at the start of every lucid I've had). I stop myself, telling myself to stabilize the dream first, I'm rubbing my hands together but I can't really feel it. The same thing that happened in my last lucid happened again, I seemed to have my eyes closed, and I knew that once I open them I'd be awake. Bam. Ruined it again somehow.

Note: Stoked to have my 3rd lucid, but I need to learn to make them last and make them stable.

      Dream 3 - Talking to friends (08 30)
I seem to be walking the usual route I take to university, talking to J1 who I don't usually walk with. I tell him that I had my 3rd lucid dream last night, he is impressed and then another friend walks past and asks us what we're talking about. I tell J1 not to say anything, I feel embarrassed about sharing it now (this is probably related to when some people walked in as I was showing J1 some poetry junk I was working on). I see J2 and I'm happy to see him (he used to get bullied and I used to stick up for him in high school), we start talking and I tell him we should go meet with J1 who's standing on the bridge looking into the river (still in the uni, this is all pretty accurately place for the dream world).
    3. LD: Walking on my Hands

      by , 10-16-2014 at 10:46 PM
I became lucid at some point in my dream and I started flying. I looked down and saw many small deep lakes in a very rock terrain. I flew down to one of the lakes and dunked myself in the water, then immediately flew back out. I flew to the next lake doing the same. After four or five lakes, I landed on the grass beside one of the lakes. I decided to practice a skill. The first thing that came to mind was to walk on my hands. SO I stood with my hands above my head and bent down into a handstand. On the first try I over did it and ended up rolling onto my back. I chided myself a little telling myself that I was in a dream now and that gravity didn't exist. So the next time I made a perfect hand stand. I then started walking all around the lake. I was surprised how fast I could walk on my hands...and how nice it was to not get tired.

    4. Visiting the B's / Getting a haircut

      by , 10-16-2014 at 09:26 PM
I go to bed at 11:30 PM, intending to get up between 6:30 and 7 AM. I read over the last couple of days in my dream journal before going to sleep (with my red filter enabled, of course). My wife's coughing wakes me at 4:30.

      Visiting the B's
Mrs. B has asked my eldest daughter if she'd like to go over to their house, so she's come to ask me. I say yes, then back-pedal, saying I need to check with my wife. My wife assumes I don't approve and is surprised to hear that I'm inclined to say yes. She's not a fan of the idea, but if I *really* want my daughter to go, then she's (sigh) OK with it.

      Getting a haircut
I walk into a generic cheap hair salon to get a haircut. After the lady behind the little counter takes my name, I go back outside. Right by the door is a large newspaper dispenser with a sign saying it's for people who are waiting for a haircut. I take one, then head back inside. As I'm walking past the counter to sit on a padded bench on the far wall, I see that an effeminate man (black, with a fairly light shade) is doing something behind the counter. As I'm sitting on the bench, the woman who took my name looks up at me, addresses me by name, and says they'll be with me shortly.

I consider how odd it is to be in one of these places again. My wife has cut my hair for many years now, but I'm here since she's so tired and stressed and needs a break. She'll be surprised that I was willing to spend the $13 (plus tax and tip), but she'll appreciate the gesture. I think back to the Art of Manliness video on how to talk to your barber about a haircut. I remember the need to specify sideburn length and decide on mid-ear, and I think I need to specify the length on the top of my head as an "8" tapering all the way down to nothing at the base of my neck.

Fragment: Hundreds of barrel-shaped objects are laid out in a grid on a very green field.

I decide that the hair salon would be a great place to pick up a dream, since it's a place I never go. Before returning to sleep, I visualize finding myself in the salon, realizing that I'm dreaming, and doing some goals ... but I never actually get back to sleep. Around 4:30 I take a short shower, and I feel more relaxed and sleepy, but I still don't get any more sleep before my wife's alarm goes off.

    5. Dark chase quick summary

      by , 10-16-2014 at 07:17 PM
Still haven't fully typed my entry from the 10th, and I'm kind of tired, so I'll write a quick summary instead.

Basic ii: Two DCs were after me on a lucid chase. After getting rid of them and going in a pretty creepy house, a spontaneous scene change/teleport happened returning me to the house entrance. They caught up with me and I decided to face them, at the same time remembering the bloodsucking task, so I bit one of them on the cheeck and sucked in some blood. He was an unpleasant DC and didn't make for the fulfilling true blood experience I was hoping for.

    6. Water

      by , 10-16-2014 at 07:11 PM
Water has been showing up in my dreams lately!

Last night wasn't lucid. There was a lot of water around and every time I came close to it it either caused trouble for others or burned my skin. There was a lot of anger and misunderstood feelings in this dream. This guy also kept showing up he was tall with lighter colored hair, and he seemed frustrated about something

    7. 10-16-14 Grandpa's Gross-Out Homestyle Chocolate Pudding

      by , 10-16-2014 at 06:41 PM
I was sitting on a propane tank in grassy church parking lot under a tree. One of my friends was sitting next to me, and this girl sat on my other side. She put her arms around me and sat on my lap.

There was a potluck after church, and my grandpa had decided to make something for it. He made what he called "chocolate pudding". It was made of a mixture of baked beans and white confectionary baking chocolate, blended together. It was awful!

After church, we couldn't find grandma. She appeared to have slipped out during the sermon. :p After looking a long time, I found her in a house next to the church having a pizza party with a bunch of her friends. They were quilting too or something. And we were like, "Grandma, what are you DOING here?"

My dead father and the rest of my family were travelling cross country and it was extremely hot. I was afraid our car would overheat.

I dreamed I woke up in the middle of the night and tried to WILD, but I gave up.
    8. My First Lucid Dreams

      by , 10-16-2014 at 06:40 PM
I had these two reoccurring nightmares when I was child. The first one was being chased by a Sasquatch, as a result of watching The 6 Million Dollar Man, and the second was falling from a tall swaying skyscraper, thanks to the movie, The Towering Inferno!

My mom told me to simply realize you are dreaming, and then make friends with your fear. Back then in the 70s there was no such phrase as Lucid Dreaming, and nobody really knew too much about it, except that it was possible to become consciously aware in your dreams. It took a few months, but I was able to become Lucid during my nightmares.

      The Sasquatch Attack!
I was running through the forest, being chased by this Sasquatch, totally terrified, and then I remembered what my mom said, “Realize you’re dreaming and make friends with your fear.” I stopped in my tracks, and turned around to face the Sasquatch. It was 7 feet tall, hairy, and was real nasty looking. I stayed calm, knowing I couldn’t get hurt in my dreams. I raised my arm to shake its hand. The Sasquatch also raised its hand! I introduced myself. I've never had this nightmare again. Problem solved thanks to lucid dreaming.

      Falling from a Skyscraper!
The nightmare would always start off with me holding onto the ledge of a tall skyscraper, which was swinging in the wind. My grip would loosen, and then I would fall, and wake up just before hitting the ground. This time, as I was falling, I realized I was dreaming, and I was going to face my fear. Absolutely terrified, I decided to hit the ground, because you can’t get hurt in your dreams. Right? Wrong! I hit the ground, and it knocked the wind out of me, and it did hurt. I rolled over and looked up at the swaying building, got to my feet, and checked for damage. No damage! I was okay. BTW, I still have this nightmare occasionally, but I’ve since figured out you can simply fly away, and not hit the ground.
    9. 10-15-14 Children unite against terror!!

      by , 10-16-2014 at 06:32 PM
A terrifying terrorist had come to our town and had hidden himself in the basement of a church. My cousin and I decided to go see if we could find him.

We found the door to the church basement easily enough. But inside it was pitch black. I switched on my flashlight. What I saw was a large room, sort of like a stairwell, with concrete stairs going down the sides of the walls. I shown my light over the railing on the side to see if I could see the bottom. I couldn't.

We tentatively began walking down. We got to a landing, and there was a rotting alien corpse. Suddenly we heard a noise and hid behind it. It echoed through the stairs. We listened and waited for a long time but nothing showed itself. Then we gave up and went back up to the main floor.

Then all the children that attended the church banded together. (The group included my sister, who was suddenly quite obese.) They numbered about fifty. They vowed to all the grown ups that they would descend the stairs, reach the bottom, find the horrible man and destroy him. The adults pleaded with them not to go, but they would not listen. So one day they marched through the door, and we listened on the other side to the muffled echoes of their feet descending the stairs. They never came back up.
    10. 10-14-14 Auntie's nose

      by , 10-16-2014 at 06:23 PM
My aunt had a dog nose and mouth, and she yawned widely and rolled her tongue around and showed her long teeth.
    11. 10-12-14 The end is nigh...

      by , 10-16-2014 at 06:21 PM
I was sent away to live in this weird city under a dome ruled over by a strange bald man. He only appeared to the people on Saturdays. The other days, other people were in charge of administering justice. They were referred to as "Pharisees".

I had three friends, all girls. We had been brought forcibly to the city together. One girl was young, one was just slightly younger than me and the other was just my age.

The laws in the city were terribly hard to keep, and if you broke any of them, horrible punishments were enacted on you. I got into trouble, but I sought an audience with the bald ruler.

I told him that it had been revealed to me that soon everything outside the domed city would be destroyed, but everything within would be saved. Therefore, I asked permission of him to go out into the surrounding desert and gather cactus plants, which we could replant after everything was destroyed. He allowed me to.

During our entire meeting, my nose ran incessantly. I couldn't stop it.
    12. 10-11-14 Dumb superman

      by , 10-16-2014 at 06:14 PM
I was at an enormous yard sale for video games. It was set up on the town square. The organizer of the event was this tiny little chubby guy with blonde hair and a mustache. He appeared to be in his late forties. He was very animated. He was telling me about what sort of video games were good. I remember him as saying, "Once you've played Batman, you'll never want to play dumb Superman again".

At that point, I like saw Superman wearing his normal outfit, but it had the red-and-white-spider-web motif that Spider Man's suit has. He was in a triumphant pose and about to blast off into the sky.

Then I noticed there was a trampoline standing nearby, so I got on it and started jumping. Then I just randomly leaped off it and landed on my stomach and laid completely still. I wasn't hurt, but the little video game guy got REALLY scared and thought I had seriously injured myself or even died. He started crying and he ran over to where I was lying. I got up and showed him I wasn't hurt. He was sooooooo relieved. He gave me a great big tearful hug. He only came up to like my waist.

My mother had a baby, and I was so proud of it. Yaay, I'm a brother!!

I bought a sort of zither thing which you played with a bow. I paid for it with money I had cut out of the local newspaper, which printed money in every issue.

Weird men were walking around in giant copper mechanical gorilla suits.

There was this strange man with binoculars strapped to his eyes who loved to watch the old lady across the street use the bathroom. He even had the GPS coordinates for her toilet. The pervert.
    13. 10-10-14 "Good Lord, boy!"

      by , 10-16-2014 at 06:02 PM
I took violin lessons from Professor Snape, and one day I forgot to bring my violin. I was mortified!

My mother and sister were baking something, and these two old men were kind of aimlessly wandering around our kitchen. twice, one of them nudged my elbow and said in a hillbilly accent, "Good Lord, boy!". The second time this happened, my mother started giggling uncontrollably.

My mother had a pinched nerve, and she read online about a remedy. She took some dill seed, some Fresca soda and some coconut oil, and combined it all in a glass. If the draught was to be at all effective, she had to drink it as fast as she could. She did. It tasted terrible.
    14. Making Breakfast (NLD)

      by , 10-16-2014 at 06:00 PM
I was trying to make breakfast. I was standing in front of a kitchen island with a stove range with at least nine burners, maybe twelve, frying up slices of some sort of eggy loaf and making pancakes from a batter that appeared to contain whole grains of barley. Periodically I would go from there to the refrigerator, where I was checking on a large glass jar of liquid in which I was somehow (the logistics don't make much sense in retrospect) attempting to make a complicated frozen cube that contained a whole strawberry and some kind of alcohol.

After going back to the stove, I noticed that the things in the frying pan were on the verge of burning even though the heat was set to medium-low. What confused me even more was that the surface of the pancake batter appeared to be burning as well, though it was still in the bowl. I figured the latter must be an effect of oxidation, contact with the air, and mixed it up some more.

I checked on the refrigerator again and saw that at least my big strawberry ice cube was freezing properly, because it looked visibly white and opaque within the liquid. As I watched, it floated up and popped to the surface, but fortunately there was enough extra room at the top of the jar that it did not splash out and make a mess.

I went back to the stove... but now the arrangement had changed. Where was my frying pan? Had someone come and moved it? Now an empty ceramic baking dish was sitting on the hot burner! That wasn't good, they're not supposed to be used that way! I hastily moved it, and although I was concerned that the cookie tray I set it on might be cold enough to make it crack from the heat difference, I couldn't spot a better place to put it. The stove was crowded with pans and dishes, none where I had left them, and I wasn't sure what had become of the food I was frying just a moment earlier.

Who had come and re-arranged everything? My breakfast was going to be ruined! None of this made any sense! In desperate frustration I wailed aloud, "What the hell is going on here? What could it be? I don't understand!" But instead of recognizing the inconsistency as a clear dream sign, I woke up with those words still ringing in my head.
    15. Samael in the company cocktail lounge

      by , 10-16-2014 at 05:51 PM
I got on an elevator expecting it to go up, this being the ground floor - there's only one floor above us, and only arrows instead of floor numbers. But it went down. I wonder how many basement levels there are. I reach to press the up arrow, saying something about my mistake to the woman still on the elevator with me. I'm new to this building. We talk about the company a bit as the elevator continues down, about finding your way around the various floors, and various luxuries that are provided for employees. I mention soul-selling and Satan, meaning it as a joke, but she talks about Satan fondly. We reach her floor, and she leaves.

My point of view switches to follow her - she walks down a hallway into a club. Her brother who goes by the name of Beelzebub - a fake name, it's really Samael - is lounging around with a cocktail glass in his hand, some glowing blue drink inside. He's a pretty man with long dreadlocks, wearing something black covered in stylized eyes in red. The woman's removed the pale coat she was wearing on the elevator, and the dress she's wearing underneath matches her brother, black and covered in stylized eyes in red. They consult about someone he describes as "a friend and a most simple prize."

      (Woke up. Back to sleep.)

There's this swirling black mass of many colors, like an oil slick, lit up from within like lightning seen from above. I'm eager to dive in immediately - it's a portal - but I'm also thinking I should stop and go lucid first. As I'm torn between these two desires which are apparently conflicting, I wake up.

(Side note: that last was a reaction to trying reality checks. As a rule I'm not interested in them, but I have a lot of false awakenings that I tend to just spend dream journaling and I thought I could put reality checks to use there. So today I tried a reality check as I wrote that first dream up, and apparently this sort of thinking is the immediate result - associating lucidity with stopping what I'm doing to perform an action. Nuisance.)
