    1. (March 18, 2015) Camping (tried to be detailed) (fragmented memory)

      by , 03-18-2015 at 03:13 PM
I remember around the beginning and end of the dream but am forgetting a lot of the details throughout. I remember driving my truck out in the back country somewhere, driving down a dusty dirt road, a few trees scattered through-out with tall grass of slightly varied shades of greens and a few dried up patches. the time of day was either sunrise or sunset, but it looked as though the sun was setting, and the warm orange/yellow light of the sun was cast out upon this hilly field. at the end of the straight part of the dirt road it started winding at a downward angle to the left abruptly. When we(cant remember who) reached the bottom of the curved dirt road slope I parked the truck and we got out. the scene changed a lot in random order but the general area never changed location. when we got out of the truck the first time, it was getting fairly dark out, so most of the plains were darker by now. the camp site we stopped at was a small basin ("bowl" shaped depression in the earth) with a flat bottom filled with sand. some of the walls were exposed sandstone and were probably weathered to form the sandy floor. I dont know when or how, but the scene changed. it was now mid afternoon, and the camp site we were at was now deeper underground, you could still see out but it was farther in the earth and looked partially underground now like a cave. we looked around the area, i thought to my self "many other people have been here before us" because i saw some areas that were covered in piles of trash and there was some graffiti. we decided to move to a clean spot and set up camp. we were still on the sandy floor of where ever we were. I set up a single-man orange tent next to a sandstone wall. the others had set up across from me about 15 feet away. at some point we walked into a small cave passage, and the details escape me but we got to a point where we were looking out a long glass pane attached to the sandstone rock, from in the cave and we saw someone at our camp. i thought to myself i dont want him looking through my stuff because i didn't want my gun and sunglasses taken. we got back to the camp site, i grabbed my stuff out of my green back pack. I made sure i had the items. a black m9 hand gun, and my purple and yellow knockaround sunglasses. all was well and we were going into our tents to sleep. i got in my tent, and it was now pitch black out. and that is where that dream ended.

another fragment, i was in my room collecting coins from my desk area. my desk is in a small section of my room where it pushed outside a bit, the desk is mounted to the wall, has a tempered glass top over it, and there is a big window on the wall in front of it that it is against. i pick up a blue coin, and a white coin, and some kid is talking to me about how he pre-ordered a game for x-box. i told him it sounded cool, then my alarm woke me.
    2. Freeze! (EILD-FA/DILD)

      by , 03-04-2015 at 02:57 AM
Ritual: WTB 12:30am, woke ~6am and set vibrating alarm for 40 minutes. I don't have a clear memory of it going off the first time (~6:40). The second time it went off (~7:20) I seem to have experienced it entirely within the dream state. My lucidity lapsed shortly thereafter but came back when I noticed that the circumstances were suitable for one of the TOTMs. I must have dreamed for about ten minutes after the alarm went off the second time, waking at ~7:30 with 29 minutes left on the alarm going into its third 40 minute cycle.

NLD: I was on a bus traveling through a desert. Looking out the window, I saw an enormous lizard resembling an early-model godzilla. [DR: an image of a similar godzilla was shown briefly John Oliver's show on Sunday night.] It didn't look real, because on closer inspection its "skin" was wrinkled and rippling like that of inflatable parade float rather than a living creature. I concluded that it must be a world boss and looked away. Even though it was so much larger than me and very far off, I was afraid that my scrutiny might draw its attention, and I was not equipped to battle it without a raid.

Our destination was a cave, which was pleasantly cool and dark after the burning light and heat of the desert outside. I passed through the large front cavern through a door labeled "Imagemakers" that led into a back room. These "imagemakers" were literally cave painters, a studio full of artists each doing individual murals on the walls, but in a modern, Asian-inspired style. [DR: One painting seemed reminiscent of Toshio Aoki's Thunder Kami (1900), which I was looking at yesterday.]

I comment to one of the artists how pleasantly cool it is here in the back room. She replies, "It's only 25, if you're not careful you might freeze." [DR? I had reviewed the TOTMs before bed and my notes used the word "freeze," which also ended up being the task I attempted later in the same dream.] I assume she means Celsius because it's not that cold in here, and try to remember what that would be in Fahrenheit—72 or so? I point out to her that when I start to feel cold I can just put on more clothes. Outside in the heat, there was nothing I could do, so this is preferable.

EILD-FA: I feel the vibrating alarm and "wake up," or so I believe, though it retrospect it was obviously an FA because I was in a room with no resemblance to WL. I am sitting in bed reading a book, and after I feel the vibration I remember not to move at first, lest I break REMA. As I start to feel more confident in my dream senses, I venture to turn the page of the book. Slowly I expand my range of motion until I'm sure that I'm not going to disrupt the dream. The plot of the previous dream continues (insofar as it has any continuity, which isn't much) and I soon lose what little lucidity the alarm had prompted.

NLD: Now everyone's talking about a bride who is coming, also on a bus, and someone instructs me to go to a counter to buy a present for her, "a small dog." I had envisioned a tiny dog that was only a few inches long, but the two available at the counter aren't small by any reckoning; they must weigh 40 or 50 pounds. The clerk asks me what I want the dog to be able to do. I think this over, rationalizing that it is a gift to someone who might not be expecting it, so it would be best if it isn't too high maintenance. "Ummm.... sleep a lot?" is my first suggestion. I try to think of other possibilities. "Stand up? Lick? Can they do that?" The clerk looks at me and answers in a tone that suggests he thinks I am an idiot, "Yeah, they can all do that."

While I'm deliberating someone has come up and bought one of the two dogs, so I'm stuck with the one that is left. I think it's really ugly, with shaggy beige fur, and I hope the bride likes it or I'll be stuck with it. At least the dog has a good personality, friendly and responsive, nuzzling up to me like it wants to be liked. I go to another room and start talking with two girls. Suddenly the dog starts humping the floor, which embarrasses me. "I hope he doesn't do that around her," I say, meaning the bride. One of the girls laughts comments that the way she's been carrying on with her new husband, she probably won't be offended.

DILD: As the conversation continues, I suddenly notice: hey, I'm in a room with DCs, this would be a perfect opportunity to try the "freeze" TOTM. I mean, okay, there's only two of them, but we are in a room, so that should qualify as a "roomful."

"Freeze!" I say suddenly, interrupting whatever else we were talking about. The girls stare at me with looks that say "WTF." They're still moving normally, so I issue the command again, attempting to focus my will by tensing my body. That doesn't work either, and I realize that I have the wrong approach. I need to be focusing my mind, not my body. "Freeeeeze," I say cajolingly, drawing out the word. At this point they do stop moving, but I have the impression that they're just playing along. I decide to try the narration technique. "Your body feels so heavy, you can't move. You're paralyzed, like when you sleep." That reminds me, of course we're not completely paralyzed when we sleep, and I'd better not kill them by overdoing it. I hastily add, "You can breathe, of course, just like when you're sleeping."

The girls seem to be complying now, so I study them closely to be sure. I also remember that I should take conscious note of their names, which I had instinctively known earlier in the dream but had almost forgotten on going lucid. The smaller one on the left, with the dark hair... I think back and all I can come up with is "Calm." It sounds odd, but that's the only name that I remember for her. The plumper girl on the right, a blonde, I know for sure is called "Amy."

The smaller girl seems completely comatose now. I lift her arm and drop it, and it falls with satisfying limpness. The larger girl is also lying still, but I get the impression she's just pretending: one of her arms is in a position that could only be maintained by exerting muscle control. I lift it and it is stiff in my grasp.

Then I realize I'm going about this all wrong. I try to remember the specifics of the TOTM. Was I just supposed to freeze them in place, or was there something about actually stopping time? I can't clearly remember the wording. I decide I'd better try the latter in any case, it might work better—and I won't have to worry about the girls accidentally suffocating if time itself has stopped.

"Freeze!" I shout, now indicating not only the two of them but the whole environment, with only myself as an exception. I find that the logical impossibility of this trouble me: if I continue moving normally, then in what sense can time itself be said to have stopped? It doesn't make any sense. I remind myself that this is a dream, and I'm not obliged to work out the physics of it. I look at Amy to see if my new strategy has resulted in any improvement. No, although she is lying quite still, and her arm looks properly limp now, she's actually tapping the fingers of one hand.

"Freeze!" I shout again, looking directly at her hand. Still tapping. "Freeze!" I yell, glaring at the hand. Tap... tap... tap. "Freeze!" I insist, mustering all my intent. The hand finally goes limp. It occurs to me that at some point I'm going to need to write all this up, and the thought wakes me.

Notes: I never did remember the second part of the TOTM, not just in the dream but even after waking up, recording my notes, and going about my day... but I had the feeling that there might have been more to it, that I left something out, and on coming home from work and checking the forum, I see that there was a whole second part of the task that I skipped!

    3. #70 - In a desert (LD), getting tested by an eftpos machine

      Black: Non-dream
      Blue: Non-lucid
      Red: Lucid

      Dream 1 - In a desert (LD)
I wasn't sure if this was a lucid dream at first, my recall for it was quite bad... I thought that I might have just had a dream about a lucid dream or something O_O. I was walking up a desert road, I think I looked at my hands and noticed I was dreaming, I felt that it was a really strong lucid dream (which sucked because I can't really remember it and it was early in the night so it didn't last long) which was stable and had a high amount of clarity. I decided to test my control of the area around me, at first I tried to shape a small pyramidal dune of sand into a large square/rectangle. This was extremely hard for some reason, but I was managing to slowly control the shape of the sand dune... I think I woke up shortly after this because like I said, it was quite early in the night and the dream stage didn't last long.

Dream 2 - getting tested by an eftpos machine
So I remember being in the geology department of a building, it seemed to be a white-coat kind of lab. I had bumped into another geologist who was bald or something. A time/space jump occurs and I'm in front of a eftpos machine, except it seems to be testing me, and the bald guy is going through a similar experience. I get 18/19 for my score, he gets 13/17 (didn't notice that the total amount you could earn wasn't meant to be different sadly, didn't get lucid ). His son comes up and helps him out and punches in some buttons, I don't remember much after this.

      Dream 3 - Unknown
There WAS another dream that I fully remembered having between the dreams above, but I completely forgot it randomly before >_<
    4. #67 - slightly scary but not really (lucid)

Dream - Desert with ghost woman
Before become lucid I remember that I was driving to a house in a dusty kind of Australian outbacks scenery... I think I might have been dropping someone off, but I became lucid as I left the place, and somehow I'm no longer in the car (which I don't notice at the time). My reaction is dulled, and my realization to the lucidity is weak at best which is likely why it was quite stable and calm. Some kind of thing approaches me but I can't remember this part at all, I only remember dismissing it from my mind during the dream to get rid of it (hence why I probably can't even remember it, good job me ). I seem to walk around the environment for a little longer until a grey-skinned skeletal woman appeared. (my first impression was an anorexic black woman, but the more I think about the less I feel it looked like that). She kind of floated about, and the whole thing made me uneasy, but since I knew it was a dream I tried to dismiss it. This time it didn't go so well... I was trying to dissolve the spectre but nothing was happening . Progressing to a more panicked state I realize there's a wooden pole in my hand and she's on the opposite side of a fence now, I wack at her over and over but the stick just goes through her. She floats through the fence towards me, and now I try something unthinkably weird... Like I would never do this kind of weird O_O I try to transform her into an actual woman, reforming her image (since this felt so low-level I don't think I really had much going on in terms of thought processes, like there was no filter). I get behind her a get closer, she's got tanned-dark skin now and I try to make her breasts bigger (jesus should I be writing this...) The next thing was to kind of humanize her and turn her on or something, I get quite a bit of success but 10 seconds from starting this whole approach I ended up waking up.

    5. Messed up dream

      by , 02-20-2015 at 10:50 AM (Snehk's Dreamlands)
I woke up in the middle of the night. It was dark all around, but I managed to open the door and go outside. Where should I go? I thought. Then everything changed. I saw myself running on the desert from top-down view. I was avoiding spike traps and boulders rolling down from hills in my direction. I barely escaped when almost all the place was filled with traps. My point of view changed, and I saw my moves like it was a side-scrolling game. In the middle of an underground cavern I found an entrance to a forgotten city. When I tried to enter it I was attacked by hordes of small weasels weilding bows. I ran deeper into the caverns while escaping from flying arrows. I saw an entrance to a dwarven fortress. I jumped into the moat under the drawbridge, and climbed up that bridge. When I was climbing I felt the weird structure of the drawbridge. It was somehow soft and slimy. I entered the dwarven settlement. It was made of dark-gray rock. Dwarven masons were the best I've ever seen, I was in awe and wanted to share my thoughts with two dwarves standing nearby. It was a king and his advisor. We haven't talked about anything in particular, but then the king mentioned that he wants to make a wedding of me and the princess. We talked about that wedding while we were going down strange stairs - a maze of handrails without steps. We had to climb the handrails to go down. When I appeared in a chamber below the entrance the dwarves disappeared. I saw a group of adventurers standing there. They told me that their quest is to help me marry the princess. We moved from the chamber to a tunnel. I saw gigantic set of stairs carved in rock. The stairs were reaching high up to the surface. One of the adventurers told And now we have to go up these stairs?! I told him Don't worry. These stairs have over two hundred ad twenty steps!. We moved up. I had troubles with climbing the stairs, but we've reached the surface. Rainy afternoon. It was cold, the dense fog was covering the horizon. I could feel the water flowing on the road with my bare feet. I was wearing only my underwear. The stairs led to the street. I looked back and saw that the entrance to the tunnel with stairs was a phone booth. The street was empty, and I saw only a few persons there. A man wearing gray hoodie and glasses. He had dark gray beard and was smoking a cigarette. When I looked at him I knew that he was on of the adventurers, making a distraction so I could enter a nearby palace. It was high building made of white marble, ornamented with exotic wood, silver and gold. Near the gate made of finest steel I saw a couple. A man wearing black trechcoat, glasses and black fedora hat. The woman was wearing a white, long gown. She had dark-brown hair and blue eyes. I saw them from the distance, they were kissing. When I came closer I saw that the woman was lying in a stroller and eating chips, and the man was kissing a barbie doll resembling the woman. They were also making a distraction for me. I entered the palace without much trouble. Inside I saw a dwarven king sitting on a throne. The place was made of white marble and granite; and random ornaments were made of exotic wood, silver and gold. There was no trace of his advisor. He had someone different instead. A president of Poland was one of his most loyal servants. The president was wearing dark-orange sweater, glasses and blue jeans trousers. I asked the king about my wedding with his daughter. Then the princess appeared. A yound girl in light-blue gown. She had light-brown hair, pale skin and green eyes. She came closer to me and told me that she wants to escape with me. Her father was mad after hearing this, and swore that he'll stop this by any means necessary. I ran to the street, and head for a barn standing on the north side of the street, west of the palace. The rain was getting stronger. The water was slowly gathering inside buildings. I entered the barn. There was a wooden plank leaning over the old wooden wall. I took it and placed it on the ground, so I could sit down on it. I looked around the building. It was divided into two parts. A storage area filled to the brim with wood and hay. There were also other object. A metal drill to make holes in the ground, and a some shelves. There was also a garage part, which I was sitting in. I took a small pebble from the ground, and tried to make a fire, so I could warm myself up. I was unable to do it. I sat alone in the cold, dark barn wearing only my underwear. After a while I decided to go back to the palace. This time however I avoided the main entrance, and went to the backyard. There I sneaked into the dining room through the kitchen. It was a large chamber. There was a long table in the middle of the room with a set of chairs standing there. They were made of exotic wood, and standing on a red carpet with a golden outline. The corners of the carpet were ornamented with gold. The dwarven king was sitting near the table and waiting. After a while the president appeared. He was carrying a silver platter, and was happy. He thought that the king would enjoy the meal made by him. The king was mad, he was still thinking about me and the princess. I came closer to the dwarf, but he pushed me away. I escaped to the street. I looked to the right, and saw a TV reporter talking about mercenaries hired by dwarves to kill civillians. For a while I seen the reporter from cameras point of view. She was a woman in her late twenties, wearing a trenchcoat. She had dark-red hair, pale skin and brown eyes. I seen again from my point of view. I looked to the right, and saw SEALS soldiers waiting for something or someone. I decided to run for it, and ran to the barn. I get there without any action from their side. I sat down on the plank, and tried to make a fire again. It was vain. I thought the end this madness. I got out of barn, and walked straight the treet. I entered my home. It was early evening. I thought about taking a bath. Then my father appeared and told me that he's going to take a bath first. I agreed and went to the living room. I sat on a couch, and was wondering if I left something in the barn. Suddenly I saw a glass of tea, and fire set up by someone. Then I felt strong, piercing pain in my index finger. I looked at it, and saw a huge, dirty nail sticking out of my flesh.

Lucid #264: The Lone and Level Sands

I’m walking near the corner of our house with my 5-year-old son E, inspecting some kind of odd, muddy buildup that’s caked all along the side of the house. It looks like it was sprayed there. For some reason I think that my next door neighbor sprayed this mud from his yard onto the side of my house. I become fretful that our relationship has soured somehow and wonder whether there was some conflict that I’ve forgotten about. As I think more about all of this, I realized that I have to be dreaming.

I turn to the east, looking toward my neighbor’s house. But everything to the east is a vast, quiet desert. Where my neighbor’s house would be is just the skeletal frame of a house, long abandoned. And now when I turn back to where my house was moments ago, there’s nothing but a ruined frame.

E is still beside me. The desert sun is bearing down on us now. I feel like we’ve just witnessed the passing of centuries, and that everything we know is long gone. I want to be someplace else, so I take a step forward and suddenly we’re in a stone chamber looking out through a long, horizontal window at the desert scene.

“Daddy, what happened to the house?” asks E. I don’t answer, but just tell him (and myself) that this is a dream.

The view through the window grows brighter and brighter, and I’m drawn into and through it, back outside, but this time into a quiet, unspoiled grassland. I sense that this is my neighborhood again, but now centuries before humans arrived in North America. I expect to see bison, and of course I see a lone bison off in the distance.

I walk with E through this quiet paradise for just a moment before
      the dream ends.

Lucid #261: Have a Badass Day

I’m standing in a store that looks like a cross between a barber shop and a clothing store. There’s a mirror on every wall and as I catch sight of my own reflection, I see that Dreamer is standing just behind me and to the right. She acknowledges me with a casual nod, like it’s totally normal that we’re both here.

Dreamer goes back to shopping and as I think about how she might have gotten here, I realize that
this has to be a dream.

“[Dreamer], I’m having a lucid dream!” I say.

She gives me a skeptical look and says something like, “Right now? You’re sure?” Dreamer looks about ten years older than in waking life, and I notice that her hair is short, very light blonde but shot through with streaks of purple.

At first I think about working to convince her, but decide that no, once things get rolling, she’ll believe it too. I grab her hand and we run toward the store’s exit. There’s no door, just an open air exit that leads out to a street made of interlocking stones.

There’s a high stone wall ahead, and we have to turn left to make it around. There’s a shaft of yellow sunlight covering the road where we need to go, and for a moment I wonder whether it’ll block us. As I think this it shimmers like a glass barrier. We have some quick discussion about this as we approach it, and I say something about this “will be easy to phase through.” There’s a moment of pressure as we cross this threshold and then we’ve phased through.

We emerge on a dusty street that has a Mad Max vibe to it, like we’re in a post-apocalyptic desert. It looks a bit like something out of screenshots I’ve seen from Rage.

There’s an enclosed tunnel of metal and glass that stretches across the dusty road, and I become curious what’s inside. Still gripping Dreamer’s hand, I try to fly up there. There’s a little sticking point, though, and as I narrate my intent, for some reason I get the urge to sing. I start belting out whatever comes to mind, and an electric guitar immediately starts playing along in the background. (Yes, these are the actual lyrics... I "performed" them into my phone upon waking. )

I want you to know that I’m happy to be here,
Let’s fly up in the sky,
      And have a badass day!

I really belt out the last part. I try to keep going, but I’m too busy laughing about the very silly lyrics that I’ve already sung. We manage to fly up just a bit above the tunnel, and as I’m trying to get a view of the rest of the town,
      the dream ends.
    8. Desert Play Ground

      December 08, 2014

I was walking with my dad and brothers into a sort of huge playground on a river bordering a vast desert. There was an island in the river (it widened at this spot) that was tropical looking. My brothers and I went to a very large swing-set, and they both started swinging. Dad was going to snowboard down a sand dune, so I went back to the giant swing set, only to find that the only two available swings were just about to be taken by other people. I sighed, and went to find something else to do. I approached the island, and inspected it.

I had thought originally that it was just a bunch of tall trees, but as I got closer, I realized it was all one massive tree, and that there were some sort of structures in he branches. It looked like a huge, awesome jungle gym.

So naturally, I went to find a way onto the island. Before long, I found a large root from the tree that extended to just within jumping distance of the bank. I leapt on over, and made my way through the vines that hung down from the tree until I reached a ladder up to another branch. I looked up, and there was a whole series of rope ladders, bridges, and huts in the tree. I was so excited, and started my climb. At some point I spotted a red wallet with black dots. I picked it up, and someone nearby said it was theirs. I asked them to describe it if it was theirs, and they said it was all red. I narrowed my eyes, but when I looked back down at the wallet, it was indeed all red. (should have gotten lucid! But ah well). I habded them the wallet and continued upwards.

The further up I got, the more different plots I would encounter. It was like every hut was a story in itself. At some point there was a story about a king and queen who were going to leave to save the realm. They asked me if I would join them, but I woke up.

    9. Paintings, Bad Jokes and Abandoned Temples

by , 12-07-2014 at 04:20 PM (Lucid Time!)
Something to do with a painting that I was really interested in. It was a painting of a solar system. It was a binary star system with a yellow sun and a white dwarf. There was a large green planet with rings and a red artificial planet (like the death star, only red.) There were also a couple of spacecraft and small rocky planets that I cannot recall.

I was on a wooden boardwalk, with my dad. There was a huge ocean out all around us. I was partially lucid here and I was trying to waterbend. It was actually working. I created three huge towers out of water, at least fifty feet high, and then let them fall down into the ocean. My dad made some joke that they were literally 'water towers' like the ones that give running water to a town. I made the towers a second time but this time the water formed into the shape of water towers with girders and a tank on top.

Something to do with being in this temple or monastery. I was in a mountainous area, but it also felt like a desert. I was leading a bunch of people who had survived some disaster here. I was hoping to find some monks or priest who could help us but the temple was deserted. The temple had some strange architecture and rooms. It seemed to blend middle-eastern design with a more oriental look. I also recall this underground/cave room that was a huge pool with all of these lit candles floating on little wooden boats and a platform in the middle.

Night. I was on the second floor. I dropped a yellow-and-black boomerang on the roof below, and then it fell on the ground. A guy passed by. I asked him to throw it up, but he missed twice. I told him it's okay, I'll just pick it up later. I think I thought of making a move on him. A name: Maranao, a local tribe ("People of the Lake (Lanao)"). (I don't think I've thought of the name for years).

Day. We were dancing along the street. We were practicing. I recognize Kris.

Night. Traffic in a rather woody area. I was in a building. I imagined EDSA (highway), with all the night lights of its tall buildings and cars.

Day. I was in a desert. I was a creature or a monster of sorts. Lizard-like. Nearby, there are people/buildings. Blood samples from a frozen plant.

Night. I was going up the third floor. Saw someone there, someone I like. I forgot the name/face.

I was walking with my dad, who now resembled the older Russell Crowe from Noah, out of the town into a desert to join an expeditionary force that was tasked with recovering some powerful ancient artifact. "Are we going to help them get it or take it for ourselves?" I asked him, trying to clarify our motivations. "We'll see how it plays out," he replied. In the next moment I observed the leader of the expeditionary force raise at least a hundred undead elephants from beneath the sands, adding considerably to the impressiveness of their force. "For them, it looks like," I commented wryly, answering my own question.

Moving swiftly ahead of the rest, my dad and I were the first ones to reach the stone antechamber that served as the entrance to the dungeon where the artifact was said to be buried. While we waited for the others to catch up, we heard an altercation outside. I heard a booming voice that I understood to be that an antagonist in the form of a powerful AI, announcing that it had trained an orbital telescope upon the army we were assisting. It claimed that the telescope was pointed at an ancient city beneath the sands, and was capable of igniting some flammable resource right underneath the army's feet.

Although in dastardly-villain style the AI had revealed its plan before executing it, there was no chance to thwart it: in the next moment we saw a tremendous conflagration through the cracks in the partially-open doors of the stone chamber in which we took refuge. Fortunately the entrance was facing the opposite direction from the blast, and although the stone walls at our back protected us from immolation, we still had to put our hands over our faces to protect them from the sudden withering heat.

We knew that anyone outside who had been exposed to the blast must have been destroyed—all but one, a single man who had arrived just outside the stone antechamber in time to be protected by it. I took him to be the leader of the army that had just been decimated. "Wow," I said, not directing my words to anyone in particular, as he slipped into the antechamber and joined us. "That was... overwhelming." I realized that under these changed circumstances, we would no doubt be seeking the artifact for our own purposes now, though whether this third guy would turn out to be an ally or antagonist in the long run was impossible to predict. "Guess it's just the three of us now," I commented as, without further ado, we started down the stone steps into darkness to begin our adventure.

      Color legend: Non-dream Dream Lucid

      Lucid #254: Adobe

I’m driving through a city, looking for some place to park. My dream family is here with me -- a dark-haired woman is my wife, my young daughter is in a car seat in the back, and there’s maybe a 2nd child (a son?) as well. We’re exhausted and homeless, living out of our car. I pull into a parking space next to a hill and sleep for a while. A cop car pulls up soon, though, and we have to move on.

Now we’re driving down a dusty freeway that’s under construction. Workers wander back and forth, while a thick cloud of tan dust obscures my vision. I can barely see 30 feet in front of me and I’m really scared that I’m going to hit someone. A worker walks right in front of the car and I swerve, barely missing him. I’m so afraid that I’m going to kill somebody and I panic myself into…

… a false awakening. I believe that I’m anotherdreamer and that I need to write this dream down before I forget it. My surroundings are alien to me, though, and I’m feeling super lazy, way too tired to get out of bed to journal. Something seems odd, though, and I flow into…

… another false awakening as myself! :canislucidus: I still feel really tired and lazy, but this time since I’ve “really woken up”, I decide to do the right thing and journal. I grab my DJ and walk into the bathroom, but as I’m holding the DJ I notice that the journal isn’t as thick as it usually is. (I keep a pen jammed in it.) I try the nose pinch, blow through, and
now I’m lucid. I walk back into the bedroom and my vision dims until I’m in the void.

I rub my hands together, recalling the idea to try a little singing the next time I’m in the void. I sing a line about how “this is a lucid dreeeeeeam” and my voice comes out like half-badass/half-joke rock like Tenacious D. After some more singing and hand-rubbing, my vision comes back and I’m in my bedroom closet. I walk back out to the window and try some air guitar. It’s lame at first, but after a few tries, I hear some distant chords of electric guitar that actually sound pretty good.

I look out through the bedroom window onto a nighttime desert scene. As far as I can see there are rows of adobe buildings lit by neon signs. It looks like fun, so I phase through the window and hulk-jump off the side of the house toward the buildings. I do some mid-air guitar playing during this jump, too, and kind of flail my legs around like I’m trying to do some kind of rock star jump thing. I land between one set of restaurants and buildings on a dusty street, then hop into the air again.

While I’m up in the air, I decide that I want to try summoning Dreamer to hang out at one of these places to talk and pig out on a bunch of dream food. Out loud I say, “Okay, I know we’re supposed to meet here…” and then “Don’t be late!” I nag. When I land, though, the DC waiting there is a woman I don’t recognize, tall and pale with short brown hair, a pierced nose, and multiple piercings on each ear. She starts speaking to me in this really caustic, unpleasant American accent, berating me about my guitar playing.

“Your guitar playing was all bullshit,” says the woman. “That wasn’t even you!” She walks up to me, continuing to scold and complain about my guitar playing, telling me that my playing sucked, etc. I find this pretty annoying but for some reason I don’t think to just leave.

I don’t find this DC appealing, but I decide to turn things around by saying, “There’s no need to be so weird about it. If you wanted to have sex with me, you should have just asked.” As I say this, she takes on a different countenance, her hair darkening, her body growing a little shorter, a little more athletic-looking, and a softer, more attractive face, probably mixed-race. She approaches me and we kiss. We awkwardly lose our balance and do this not-at-all sexy fall onto the road. I make an attempt at escalating things to sexytime, but my vision has faded out. There are a few more seconds of void-kissing before
      the dream ends.

    13. Haru Dish and Mountain Trails

      by , 11-08-2014 at 06:31 AM (The Kestrel's Dreams)
      November 02, 2014

I was interning in a new classroom, at a new school... it was right next to a strip mall of sorts. During the lunch break on my second or third day there, I realized I'd forgotten to pack a lunch, and so I went to the strip mall to try and find some food. I decided to stop by a clothing store since I needed a new shirt, but when I asked the floor helper about a simple shirt, she just pointed at my stomach and chin and scoffed that there would be NOTHING in my size in this store. I left that place, but first I looked around the bottom floor and passive-aggressively fucked with some stuff.

I couldn't find a fast food place, but there did end up being a little steampunk-y Japanese place inside the Target or something. I went there, and ordered something called a Haru Dish (hah, one of my students' names is Haru). The chef who was putting my dish on the tray was messing with me, pretending "that was all" with each little added ingredient. I was in a hurry to get back to class because my break was almost over, but the guy did make me feel better about what had happened at the clothing store, because he was trying to make me smile.

By the time I did have my food and was able to start walking back to the school, apparently not only was lunch break over, but the bell was ringing for everyone to go home; I'd missed the entire afternoon... I tried to find someone to tell that I was sorry, but no one was there. I did find a bike, though. I got on the bike and rode it far down the main street the school was on. I rode the bike all the way out of town (apparently most of the town was in that strip mall) and into a sprawling, flat desert-like place. It got dark, and I met my little brother, who had my car. I put the bike in the trunk, and we both started driving back to the small town. Apparently I had sunglasses on that was making my vision all wonky; I could only see in a horizontal line and I couldn't drive this way, so I asked my brother to find my normal glasses and give them to me.

I stopped the car at the side of the road still a few miles out of the town, and we decided to walk the rest of the way. There were mountains with shrubs and trees to our right, and a bike trail led out into those mountains. I decided to take that trail (and apparently it was somehow sunset again, not night like it had been a little bit ago).

I rode the bike through the mountains for what seemed like a long time, and hope I wouldn't get lost... eventually I came out of the mountains and came back to that main street just outside of town. My brother was at the trail-head with my car again, and we drove back to the school.

    14. Really Long Night for me (LD #11)

      by , 10-13-2014 at 03:44 PM (Sharpshoey's Lucid Journey)
      Dream 1
I am runnning on a bike path in the downtown area of the city I'm in. I take a turn and go to a kind of shady back-alley way, but it's still part of the path. My dad is then there and there is a four-wheeler in front of us. We take it for a ride and have a blast. Then I bring my mom and I let her drive. She floors it and the vehicle flips over. It is dark outside and I get scared of werewolves. A random dude is suddenly there and he helps us try and flip it back over.

      Dream 2
I am in a group of people and we are trying to catch some bad guys. A truck comes and stops us and we all put down our weapons except one guy in our group who has his gun and flashlight trained on the leader.

      Dream 3
I am in the desert near an old run-down city. There is quite a big group of people with me. We have to work together but our group is constantly arguing. We are running away from something, and I'm hiding behind a bus. Then, we are back in the city and are at a party. Another group is out to get us and when I confront them, I see a person from our group who I thought was dead. I am totally shocked.

      Dream 4
I am getting off the front of a train or something, and I'm standing on a platform. I do the nose-plug RC and am instantly lucid. (In real life I knew I was going to LD and I did the same exact thing beforehand in the dream. So I don't know if this is just a dream about LDing but I'd still be lucid I think) I check my hands just to make sure I'm dreaming and I have more fingers than usual. I go into caveman mode and search for some girls from my school. (I don't really remember what happened now...I think I might've found one girl but I don't know who and I don't know what I did.) I had to do a few other RC's to keep confirming I was dreaming.

      Dream 5
I am standing on a battlefield and 2 Jedi are standing in front of me. There is a male and female. The female offers to help the male but he refuses, and goes on. There are two armies standing by some walls. The army behind the walls is evil, and the army attacking is a new and improved clone army. My view switches to seeing over the wall and that teleports me to the top of the wall. The armies are about to start fighting so I quickly jump down and run to the side. This marks the start of WW3. I am then in Denver, Colorado. Me and my entire XC team were put here because it is apparently the safest city to be, but in that first part I remember that the bad guy said he was going to take out Denver. I always duck when walking by windows and I'm constantly terrified of being shot. After a while in Denver, I wake up one night and see everyone leaving. I am scared that they are leaving me and ask how I'm going to get home. They point and I can see another teammate and I am relieved I won't be left behind.

We have all left already and are running through a field. We get to a diner and I remember that this is where all my survival started at. Then I am at my house with my parent's. We are packing things to be able to survive on our own. Our neighbors are doing the same and we give them some water because they don't have enough.

      Dream 6
There are a bunch of people at my house. A guy takes me and a few others outside and is really mad at us. I can't remember what for. He said he was going to make us sprint for a very long time but he lightened up and let us quit after like 2 10 yard sprints. Back inside, everyone had left except this hot girl (T) from my school. I struggle to try and not get it on with it her, because I'd get into a lot of trouble if I did. I finally contain myself but I'm kinda mad because that was a perfect chance to do it. She leaves and I turn on a movie. (it had some sort of government name and was about a dude in government) There is a sex scene and right after its over my mom comes home from work. I think its weird that she's home so early. She hugs me and I shut off the movie. She asked what I was watching and I told her and said it wasn't very good. It goes to the title screen and I go on my computer. There is previews of the movie and my mom sees part of the scene and says, "look at that!" I play dumb and she thinks I hadn't seen anything so she doesn't press the issue.

I think my lucid last night was a little weird...I didn't remember it as clearly as I usually do. And I also know I had a lot more dreams.

    15. Hansel without Grettle

by , 09-15-2014 at 11:03 PM (Schmaven's Dream Journal of Randomness)
Walking along a sidewalk in Germany, I'm trying to find my hotel room. The whole time, I am squirting a bottle of crack sealant into the sidewalk cracks with precision accuracy as a way of keeping track of where I've been so I don't get lost. I tell myself Hansel and Grettle did it, so it must be an effective method. I miss the street I should turn down, and the road enters some magical woodlands. Vibrant green trees everywhere, and a field filled with puff balls - white and gold. I wish I had a camera, but instead, burn the image into my mind before turning back.

Distracted by the crack sealant, I miss the turn again, and as I continue, the road takes me into a deserted desert town, with dry earth cracked all around me, and sand blowing in the hot afternoon under a very strong sun. I've definitely gone too far now, so I turn back again and go back up the road, still squirting crack sealant along the sidewalk so I don't get lost...
