I am riding my bike up to a lake. From my current perspective, the lake looks small (it reminds me of the bike trail up the side of Fallen Leaf Lake), but when I get up closer to it it looks larger. I think it’s Tahoe. I look to my left and see Dad amongst some people on the fairly long and slightly inclined beach. I ride past him just a little bit, so I can turn back and ride straight down at him in an attempt to startle him. I do so, the sand ultimately stopping my momentum right by him, though I don’t know if it startles him. We end up getting into the water. I still think it’s Tahoe, but it almost looks more like the ocean. It is shallow for a long ways as we wade out. At one point I have my head underwater and am seeing two fish. They are fairly large and an aquatically metallic dark grey with specks of gold or another similar, lighter color. There is a small beak or some sharp protrusion on their faces. I don’t think they’re entirely malicious, but I do keep my distance from them. I surface and tell Dad “tiger head sharks.” We now see the water ahead of us a ways is a much darker blue, so we stop. I then hear what sounds like running or draining water and then see water ahead of us slowly moving. It draws back, increasing in speed, before swelling into a sizable wave. It is white-capped before even reaching us, so I simply plug my nose and prepare to ride it out. It breaks on us, more gently than anticipated, and I let it carry me underwater almost all the way to the shore.

    2. 3 Dec: Detonation of a harmless bomb

      by , 12-04-2018 at 10:59 AM (Lucid-schizo-dreamer)
non-dream dream semi-lucid lucid false awakening

Something about russians and some test. Something on a public swimming pool, with a couple of ladies, crossing the locker room to avoid or meet someone, but then getting excited about a swim in the pool.

A friend says he invented a simulation of a nuclear bomb, but without radiation and the blast is harmless so wants to test it. I'm not feeling sure about that, but he insists on blowing it up and says we can hide in an underground shelter nearby. Strangely enough, he sets it off in the middle of a town, so I wonder about all other people if the test goes wrong. Anyway, he is not going to stop for anything and he blasts the thing off. The shock wave is strangely slow, so we can run ahead of it and seek the shelter. He doesn't go, but me and Alex and Zilla we run to it. Zilla is the only one who knows where it is. Alex trips when we cross a bridge and he grabs a piece of my clothing asking for help. But I tell him "it's ok, the bomb is harmless, you'll be fine." And I shrug him off and keep going (watch a bitch I can be). I look back a few steps later and ask him if he'll be ok? He ain't sure, but he doesn't complain and gets up to keep running.
Zilla finally stops behind a building with a garden and I ask if the bunker is there. She says no and that she also wants to experience the blast on the surface, but she is taking cover behind the building She finds a hose on a wall and takes an improvised shower. Recommends me to do the same, in case the blast is hot. I feel pretty upset with all this and think these guys are just fucking insane. The blast is coming.

I am a at a supermarket with Riverstone, shopping for food. Some troll just put 200€ of frozen fish on our trolley. We're vegetarian, I ask the cashier to keep it and take it away, but Riverstone is looking at all the codfish and saying maybe we should buy it for special occasions. I am pissed he is even considering that and say "absolutely no".

Everyone seems to be losing his/her voice. I am also starting to loose mine. It's some virus that's going around and infecting more and more people. It's afflictive.

Had a vivid, long dream about a list of words, one of them being vacuum. This transitioned into a dark city scene with a high train raised above everything else.

Had a vivid dream right before waking about being at a beach with F. We were looking at a sandstone or just time-worn statue of Cleopatra which was very beautiful. There was a youngish Asian couple (early-mid 30's) who were standing next to the statue, petting a fish. There was a gigantic fish which the man was petting near the statue, and it swam away. F gave me two rings to hold and went to get a drink from a stand.

    4. I’ve got a barracuda by the tail, it’s plain to see

      by , 08-20-2018 at 12:14 PM
Afternoon of August 20, 2018. Monday.

Reading time: 35 sec. Readability score: 70.

I am squatting near the edge of a pool and holding onto the tail of a barracuda in a Sea World setting. Only its front half is submerged. I know that if I let it go, it has the potential to swim around and bite me. That is not a certainty, but I am unsure what to do. My view is more as if I am watching myself from above and behind and there is no tangibility in this scene. My dream fades without incident.

I do not usually sleep (nap) at the time of 4:30 p.m.

The reactive representation stems from a more active mental state (barracuda) being incompatible with the lesser level of melatonin (water). My semi-lucid self is aware of this and what it implies. I do not have the biological need to enter deeper sleep at the time, so I liminally create an impasse scenario.

    5. Lots of fragments

      by , 04-08-2018 at 09:56 AM
      - Walking along a narrow canal path. Someone tries to stop/rob me but I jump into the water and swim away.
      - At a hotel a local dish is being prepared on a long tresselled table by a woman. She is layering rings of fish. I talk to her. Later we are offered some food but its not vegetarian.
      - In our house we have 3 big screens set up in the front room. Each with a bright interactive display. The next morning we get up from downstairs and my cat tells me it wants to go on a dance programme. I go to pick it up but it tells me to put it down again. It is pale coloured and sleek. It asks me to open the doors as obviously it cant do that itself. There are two downs on the narrow hallway going upstairs. I find that the programme the cat wants has downloaded incompletely (hacked) and so doesnt work. The cat goes on a drawing programme instead and uploads something it had been drawing. Other people go on other things. I find a picture of a fox so it can get the right colour for its drawing.
      - At my parents house I'm trying to help my dad get in without a large about of dogs also getting into the house.

    6. The House by the Waterfront; Furious Panda

by , 03-07-2018 at 04:09 AM (The Fourth Factor)
I’m driving in an unfamiliar town, where I’m going to attend an event of some kind. I have the impression it has something to do with Kyabje Düd’jom Rinpoche? At first, I’m trying to find a parking spot near a junction, but all the spots there seem to belong to the nearby buildings, so I turn the car around and head towards the waterfront, closer to where the event will actually be held. It’s a long, straight street with small, gray paving stones and narrow, wooden houses painted light colors on either side. At one end of it, I can see boats, their masts blocking the view further out—to the harbor itself, presumably.

I look around for house no. 11, which is where the event will take place, so I can park nearby. The address plates are large and clearly display the numbers, rather like the Prague address plates do. The plates seem to be in the right general order, and so I don’t have trouble finding it—but there do seem to be both odd and even numbers on a single side. I’m not sure whether it was this that clued me into the fact that I was dreaming, but it definitely happened right around then.

This is a dream: what will I do? Checking out no. 11 still seems like a pretty good idea, but first, I decide to take a look around the area. I walk along the street, towards the harbor—but as I walk, it seems to change from a street to an underground tunnel, and when I reach the end, I’m not by the open sea, but looking into a square room full of water. It seems completely closed off and is made of some yellow-red stone, mossy where it's close to the waterline. The water is packed with boats—not big ones like I saw before, but little ones, more on the order of rowboats.

There’s something a little ominous about this place; it’s impossible to imagine what purpose it could possibly be serving. If this were a Zelda game, I’d fully expect the door to slam behind me and some giant monster to rise up out of the water and attack. I wait. The water seems to be rippling in a rather odd way. After a little while, a couple of larger waves swell up, rolling beneath the layer of boats. But they just die down again, and the water becomes perfectly still. I watch for a little while longer, but it looks as if that’s all that’s going to happen, and so I head back towards the house—now, an entrance partway along the tunnel. I open the door and step in.

An Asian woman greets me: it seems I’ve been expected, although there doesn’t seem to be any kind of a gathering here as I thought. The woman also seems to be expecting me to have a female friend along. I consider telling her that I’m here alone, but actually, there’s no reason I can’t invite someone else. I tell the woman I’ll send them a text message and they should be here shortly.

I pull my iPhone out of my pocket. But somehow, all the people I can think to invite are male. An idea occurs to me: I start spelling out A-N-I-M-A using the numbers which correspond to those letters. The phone is a bit shifty, as such devices often are in dreams, but not enough to impede me. But partway through, I remember that I’m not supposed to have an anima, being female and all. So I make it end U-S instead and send the ‘coded’ message off. Well, I guess I’ll see what happens. I put the phone back in my pocket and we sit down at the table in the next room to eat.

The table is a large one, but there are only three places set—hers, mine and the empty one. We have some kind of fish dish, which tastes good. Not much in the way of conversation is happening, and so I’m mostly focusing on remaining aware, making sure I don’t forget this is a dream. It’s an interesting feeling, being here in this place, which feels so real and yet so unreal. I could get up and do something else, but I want to see where this is going.

But at some point, I wake up—due to some environmental noise, possibly. But it’s only a short time before I fall asleep again, and find myself back in the house, in an upstairs bedroom this time.

Through a window, I see branch falls onto the roof of a neighboring building—a large, blocky structure. The roof looks like it’s in bad shape, with large chunks of tile missing—this place must have got hit by the storm too, I figure.

I’m eating a cup of yogurt there. It’s chalky and bland. Probably low-fat. Why am I eating this awful stuff? This is a dream, I don’t have to eat it. I place the cup on a dresser or some similar piece of furniture. Downstairs, I hear the door of the house opening, voices in conversation—somebody has arrived. Maybe it’s the person I invited in the earlier part of the dream. I’ll go down and check. But right now I’m wearing a nightgown, so I ought to put something else on first.

I step over to the full-length mirror, which is standing near the door, and look at my reflection. I’m wearing a plain nightgown, like a short dress with spaghetti straps. Oddly, I don’t seem to look quite like myself—my face is different, though not completely different, and my eyes seem to be the usual color. I step back. It’s been a while since I’ve done this—and actually, I’ve never done exactly what I’m about to try, but it doesn’t seem like it should be too hard. I’ll create myself something more appropriate to wear. I extend my hands, palms upward, feeling energy gathering.

But it doesn’t feel right—there’s some kind of a resistance there. As I notice that, I also see something standing behind me in the mirror—a furious-looking panda bear approaching me. I turn around, looking into the room—but it's empty. There's nothing there. I look back at the mirror: furious panda. Well, this is a little creepy. But because it’s a panda, being furious just makes it look ridiculous rather than menacing. I step backwards into the room with one hand behind me, feeling for the spot where the panda ought to be based on its reflection—but I wake up before I can get to it.

    7. Chasing an eel

      by , 12-18-2017 at 11:20 AM (BahamutZERO's dreams)
A very bizarre one, and I only remember small fragments, but I'll try my best to describe it...

The dream was in some sort of an underwater cave system. I could swim like a fish and breathe underwater.

One of the cave entrances had a bar. When I entered the bar, there was somehow no water inside, it just looked like a normal bar above the sea level, but regardless, the bartender was a fish with a mustache. He was cleaning a beer glass. There was no way to get behind the counter, but in the middle of the room was a box. I pushed it so I could jump over. When I got behind the counter, I grabbed a bottle of whiskey but the bartender didn't care.

In another scene, for some reason I had to chase a derpy eel called Gustenbiebel. Little did I know that he also had an evil twin brother, Kwistenbiebel*. They both lived in a separate cave, but their entrances looked similar. I chased Gustenbiebel, lost him for a bit, and momentarily I saw from some point of view other than my own that he fled into his cave. So I swam to his cave, but I accidentally entered Kwistenbiebel's cave instead, and I was stuck there. Kwistenbiebel looked rather hungry. Fortunately, that's where the dream ended at, it seems.

(* "kwistenbiebel" is a Flemish word that means something like "moron"... "gustenbiebel" is just something my dream made up)

    8. Odd Virtual Reality Game

      by , 12-17-2017 at 06:17 PM
Morning of December 17, 2017. Sunday.

In my dream, I am in an unknown house, though my sister Marilyn (deceased) is present. It is not seemingly implied to be the Loomis Street house. She appears as she did in the 1960s. I have no recall of her deceased status.

I have the awareness that a laptop computer does not use 3.5-inch disks (and that they are old technology), and yet I have no viable memory of the last twenty years of my life. (Dreams are strange that way.) Marilyn does mention this game as not being compatible with her computer. There is a set of about seven disks that are needed to install and run the game.

Eventually, we somehow get the game to work. It is holographic, though also seemingly solid at times, and fills nearly half of the unknown room. Two spherical aquariums appear on each side of the playing field, near the center of each side, where other features appear on each end, though I am mostly only focused on the aquariums. The virtual aquariums are about three feet high, though elevated to about five feet from the floor with a stand.

Apparently, the game involves some sort of event when an anthropomorphic fish emerges from at least one of the aquariums, though no actual game play ensues. There are some resets of this dream where parts repeat, though much is not that clearly defined.

An aquarium represents the mental model of the nature of the dream state (in real time). In this case, the two spherical aquariums symbolize the sleeping minds of Zsuzsanna and me. The anthropomorphic fish would represent the emergent consciousness “coming out of sleep”, sleep of which is symbolized as water.

RAS quantizes the mental model of the dream state in this way at times, more so when sleep is somewhat restless or with “intrusive” environmental factors, based on the analogy of being in a fishbowl when outside noise is more intrusive into sleep, otherwise vaguely similar in waking transition symbolism to the very common water lowering waking symbolism (which has occurred at least once per normal sleeping period for over fifty years, since earliest memory).

    9. Comparing Matchbox Cars on Barolin Street Porch

      by , 12-14-2017 at 07:40 AM
Morning of December 14, 2017. Thursday.

The first part of my dream is unremembered other than undefined patterns of passive family activity. My dream self (personified subconscious) is already in the waking space when my dream becomes clear and vivid.

The typical waking space is rendered as a porch (my most common real-time liminal space symbol since early childhood, which symbolizes a specific state of unconsciousness between dreaming and waking), although it is the Barolin Street house’s porch. We have not lived there since the beginning of 2008. The personified subconscious has no concept of time or space (or any critical thinking skills). As a result, I do not regard this error of residence and accept it as our “real” and present home. I am uncertain of the implied time, though it seems to be night.

Three unknown visitors are at the porch door, which is open; two males and a female. However, the entrance to the porch is incorrectly rendered on the south end rather than its real location at the front, which is east. In the role of my personified subconscious (which is just a distorted filter, not a “mind” with any semblance of intellect), I do not “know” anything, and accept it as “real”.

I do not see the three visitors as intruders, which means that my dream self (at least at this specific point) is ready to coalesce back into waking consciousness. (This is a subliminal mechanism. I am not lucid.) They start to talk about a dead fish that is on its right side (facing east) on the inner porch ledge. It is to my right when facing the doorway.

The dead fish is a mooneye. (I have not seen a mooneye in real life since 1990.) Although I am not fully aware of this symbolism while still in my dream, there are four distinct levels of meaning. One, it is an artifact of water lowering waking symbolism (though there is no recall of water induction and no apparent WLWS in this particular dream, making it implied by habit without the direct discernment). Two, it means my glymphatic system’s functions are starting to lessen in nearing waking. Three, because it is a mooneye, and is dead, it is an association with nearing daybreak (waking transition; the sun symbolizing the conscious self while the moon symbolizes the dream self). Four, it is a symbol of my physical body being asleep, though its being on the right side is seemingly a subliminal warning that I may be on my right side in reality. (Though I do not recall having turned over during my sleep. I usually sleep on my left side for health reasons, as the stomach naturally hangs to the left and other systems operate better in this orientation.)

I am not sure what to say to them about the dead fish. I do not perceive it as unusual, but I hold no recall of how it came to be there. I mention to the three unknown people who stand just outside the doorway that “some are big enough to eat”, but they start talking about roe (fish eggs). Still, they do not seem that interested in the mooneye for such a source.

Meanwhile, I am closely looking at some Matchbox cars while standing near the center of the porch. Two of them are similar. I gaze at them with full intent. They are flatbed trucks (“flatbed” as being a dream state indicator as a play on being in bed). Each holds a small house. (The basic design is the same as one I had in real life as a boy, though it looks about twice as big, though my view in my dreams often magnifies what I am looking at.) I continue to stare at them, deliberately ignoring the three people just outside the doorway. One is mostly blue (that is, both the truck and the house) and one is mostly pale orange. (In reality, the truck was blue and the house was orange.)

I continue to gaze at the two trucks. I notice a detail of where the house’s window frames (in their vertical appearance and detail) and the vertical borders of the truck’s windows (looking at them from the side as they are facing right) are slightly closer to the front in one than in the other. (This relates to subliminal awareness of nearing my dream’s exit point, and waking symbolism is typically oriented to the right).

From here, I am suddenly aware that the three people are coming onto the porch. I teleport to the end of the porch and slam the door on them (indicative of the subliminal desire to remain asleep for a little longer). However, I notice that someone had left a set of keys on a table to the right of the door (even though there is no recall of the other people having been inside the porch). I open the door manually, apologizing. The female comes in and gets her keys and leaves again, the door remaining open as I wake.

This dream has the dynamics of the typical waking space scenario, common on a regular basis since early childhood. The other three characters were, in upward hierarchy order, the personified preconscious, the personified interconsciousness, and the emergent consciousness. In this case, the emergent consciousness symbol was an unrecognized (while in the dream state) form of Zsuzsanna. She is the only one (other than our children) allowed to have “keys” to other levels of my unconsciousness. This is typical doorway waking symbolism, a door representing either the dream’s exit point or in some cases, access to apex lucidity and extraordinarily vivid automatic control of the dream state (and “summoning” mode, whereby all dream characters fully serve the dreamer via conscious self will), which for whatever reason, many people apparently cannot do. It may relate to my advanced understanding of the dream state since early childhood (and never falling victim to the fallacy of “interpretation”), whereby the majority of people totally lack the knowledge of what a dream actually is. I should also include here that, the large Barolin Street house was actually moved, via trucks, to a new location after we moved in 2008. Thus, this feature is also a subliminal thread of real-life factors of the past - of which I did not realize while in the dream state, even though it was probably meant to be an interconsciousness clue that I was in the dream state.

    10. Shark; Water; Bad guys

      by

      , 11-14-2017 at 07:04 AM (Turquoise Dreams)
Two days ago I was standing on a wooden platform just inches above water. I was watching a huge fish swim below me. The more I looked, more I saw it and it turned out to be a great white shark. Mostly I only see big black fish with white spots, like behind a dirty glass. We were going to swim and play in the water, so we watched for it to stay away and we picked a spot where we thought it wont go to.

Standing on a low seawall. Looking at a clear water with pebbles on the bottom. Only a few inches deep, getting a bit deeper a few steps further in. Someone jumps in and I realize the water is cold, But I love water and it looks so inviting. Plus the pebbles and sea shells are intriguing and with great pleasure, I jump in feet first. We are all fully dressed and I know I will be wet up to my knees, but I don't mind one bit. I keep looking into water for sea shells and I'm happy.

[I have noticed something interesting about my dreams, but mostly about lucid dreams. Sometimes I can't see far. (Sometimes yes, with binocular vision, or without it). But it can happen, that I only see my immediate surroundings. Rest is like black walls. As if I was on the set and that's the only place. Behind it is just walls and something else, but not the dream scene.]

      Last night:
I was walking up the street in my home town, from direction of my high school. As I got to the intersection, it was blocked off with some kind of a checkpoint with ropes blocking the way. Bad guys were standing there. I was with others and we were not gonna have it. I got an automatic rifle, went behind the bad guys and started killing them.

    11. Fossils Near a Bus Stop

      by , 09-02-2017 at 03:02 PM
Morning of September 2, 2017. Saturday.

Dream #: 18,520-03. Reading time (optimized): 2 min.

My dream, which originated with the water induction process (melatonin mediation association), eventually clarifies as my dream self’s presence in a parking lot with no discernible lake. (However, the first fossil I find relates to the water lowering waking transition, a common form of waking symbolism since early childhood.)

It is afternoon. I am waiting to get on a bus that is near a shopping mall. My wife Zsuzsanna and youngest son are present with a few unfamiliar people who have not boarded the bus yet. I am sitting about 20 feet from the shopping mall’s entrance. The bus is to my right. (Thus, my dream’s potential exit point is to my right.)

I dig into the parking lot as if it was soil and find a fish skeleton fossilized in rock. I consider our youngest son would like it. I discover another “fossil” that is possibly a child’s craft project made of plaster of Paris. The impression seems to be from a plastic toy. As I talk about the second fossil not being real, I consider that the first one might not be genuine either. An unfamiliar girl standing nearby seems annoyed and walks off to board the bus.

Meanwhile, I find a few other “fossils,” which are craft projects. One has an impression of a miniature baseball bat in it which I hold up as I comment. The pattern is about the length of my finger.

I get up to board the bus. Zsuzsanna is on my left in a seat about halfway back on the left side of the aisle. Our children are also present. My mother is at the front of the bus on the left side, seated closest the aisle. (I do not recall she died in 2002.)

My mother complains about stomach pain and seems in distress. She moves forward and down in her seat for a short time. I notice that other people near the front of the bus seem concerned. She may need to see a doctor. Two unknown people hold her, one on each side, and help her get off the bus. The bus driver exclaims, “Hey, get back here.”

The other people are still near my mother as I look off to my left and see her sit down on a wooden bench. I notice there are other wooden benches in an equidistant pattern. They are seen lengthwise, parallel to the bus but facing away from it.

Zsuzsanna had stomach pain recently. As the bus represents leaving my dream (the bus driver being the preconscious simulacrum and saying “Hey, get back here” as a subliminal correlation with Zsuzsanna’s physicality), I wish to have her pain left behind (despite my mother rendered as this factor). The bus has an Australian association as the driver is on the right (yet my mother had never been to Australia).

The miniature baseball bat is associated with swinging my arms, gaining the physical energy to fully awake and get out of bed, a form of vestibular system correlation.

See “- Causes of Dreams - Parking Lot - page 1 -” to understand this dream.

    12. Successful Sled Ride! (FA-WILD + FA)

      by , 05-22-2017 at 04:43 PM
Ritual: The new Twin Peaks started last night, so I watched the usual Sunday shows in their second round and didn't get to bed until after 2am. I woke around 7 or 8 and looked at my iPad a bit, enough to wake up my mind, with the usual vague intention to make this into a WBTB, but the only other mental preparation I did was to remind myself that dreaming involves proprioreception, so I should pay attention to my whole body as I fell back asleep. It was 9am when I woke after the dream, which I felt had lasted only a few minutes.

FA-WILD: During my WBTB, my husband mentioned that he was going to the grocery store this morning, so when I was half-woken by the sound of the garage door, I knew he must have left. This much was evidently a real perception, but right after that, still believing I was half awake, I heard voices. I knew my brother was in his room on the other side of the house, but I couldn't account for the other voices. [DL: My brother lives on the other side of the country, and the room I thought he was in does not exist.] Was he on the phone? But there were several voices, and the sounds of people moving around. Had he invited friends over? Then I recognized one of the voices as that of my maternal grandmother. [DL: She died over twenty years ago.]

Despite the dreamlogic, these observations did actually make me wonder if I was dreaming the voices, not because of the incongruities that would have been obvious to a waking mind, but only because of my conviction that if my husband just left for the store, then no one else (besides my brother) should be in the house so early in the morning. I tested to see if I was getting any dream imagery, and sure enough, when I partially closed my eyes, the four flaps of a manually closed cardboard box appeared superimposed over the rumpled covers of the bed that I had thought I was seeing with my waking eyes. [DL: In retrospect, is it apparent that everything I observed after hearing the garage door was already in dream, so I was mistaken in believing that I had woken up. My mind was half awake, despite the dream logic, which is what led to the confusion about which perceptions were dreamed and which were real.]

I realized that if I was already seeing dream imagery, then if I was careful I could probably "get up" out of bed and into the dream just like I do in WILDs. This was easily done. I crossed the room, an accurate likeness of my bedroom, and opened the window to look outside toward what I understood to be my brother's room, on the second floor above the attached shed. [DL: The shed has no second storey.] The ground was covered with snow, and I did recognize that this was incongruous with the current season. It gave me the idea to do the TOTY that I had attempted a couple times earlier, the sled ride.

The last shot of the final show I watched last night was a woman diving backwards over the edge of a boat to go scuba diving. It made an impression on me because I had only ever dived into water face first, and at the time I had tried to imagine what it would feel like to enter the water that way. Now, as I was about to jump out the window, I decided to do it backwards like a scuba diver. For a moment I felt like I was falling and wondered if I would actually hit the ground, but then the nongravity of dream caught me pleasantly in an inverted arc, and I settled gently to my feet.

I remembered the last few times I had attempted the sled task, and how I had overcomplicated it to the point where I kept waking up before I could finish. This time I decided I'd better just get it done, even if my solutions weren't elegant. So instead of going to the trouble of finding or manifesting the necessary sled and mountaintop, I just asserted these conditions into existence. I'm on a sled, riding down a mountain. As is typical when I "brute force" things in dream, initially it felt like a fiction, but soon I began to feel plausible sensations of sitting on a sled and sliding down the snowy slope. It was far from my best work, but it sufficed.

I was sufficiently familiar with the task that before I had even intended it, my sled slipped through an irregular opening like the mouth of a cave, into a wide dark space. But then I wondered if this was good enough—I hadn't read the terms of the task in ages. Would a cave suffice, or did it have to be a proper hole through the surface of the earth? I couldn't remember, so I decided to play it safe and conjured a perfectly round hole, like the sort of thing you might see in a cartoon, just in front of me on the lower floor of the cave. My sled and I slipped right through, and at this point my interest perked up, because I didn't know what to expect, and had not planned or intended anything past this point.

It was dark down here, and I had no sense of the borders of the space, yet I could see the details nearest me perfectly well in the nonlight of dream. The place felt public and even familiar—familiar as a type rather than a specific location—but I can't think of how to relate it to anything in WL. A "town square" might be the closest analogue, but of course in WL town squares don't tend to be in enormous caverns underground.

I felt my mind shift over into observation mode and began to take deliberate note of the things I saw, but at the same time I felt really hungry and couldn't resist impulsively tasting everything. [WL: I hadn't eaten much for dinner and had even felt hungry again by the time I went to bed, so this was a genuine bleedthrough sensation.]

My sled had disappeared in the transition through the hole, so now I was on foot. The first object that I passed, on my left, was a piece of fabric that had been fashioned into the form of an elephant, about about eighteen inches wide. It was attached to the top of a pole stuck in the ground, elevating it to just above waist height. I pulled the fabric elephant off the pole to give it a closer look as I continued to walk. White was the dominant color, but the details were stitched in brightly-hued threads, red and blue and green. The base fabric had a thick pile, almost fur-like, akin to what you might see on a stuffed animal, but the object overall was flat, lightly padded like a thin quilt. My hunger impelled me to take a big bite, and in my mouth it had the taste and texture of a sort of bland taffy. (Tastes are rarely very distinctive in my dreams.) I dropped it and moved on.

The next object I encountered was also on a waist-high pole, and about the same size as the elephant. This one was made of paper and a bit more three-dimensional—it resembled a large origami fish folded from patterned paper. The taste and texture were even less remarkable, but I was so hungry it felt good to be chewing something.

As I observed with mild amusement the way my hunger was driving me to try to eat things that didn't even resemble food, the rational part of my mind responded that this being a dream, there was no reason I shouldn't try to eat literally anything I could see. I put this to the test, breaking off random bits of any surface I came across and nibbling on them. One thing I remember distinctly was a table. It was a round table covered by a long, dark-hued tablecloth. I think there was a vase of flowers in the center but otherwise it was bare, so I grabbed a hank of the tablecloth and started noshing on that. I was cramming far more in my mouth than I ever would in WL, but I didn't worry since I knew that this stuff had no real substance.

I was still in snacking mode when I came across a white-bearded gentleman in a navy blue blazer. The bronze buttons caught my eye, and without so much as saying hello, much less asking permission, I reached out and twisted off the top button, bringing it to my eyes for a closer look. Tiny convex letters around the top spelled out "Bartholomew," and a small human figure occupied the center of the button. "Saint Bartholomew?" I asked the gentleman from whom I had taken the button, while trying to remember if there was really such a saint or if I was just free associating. [WL: I still wasn't sure so I googled it. Apparently Saint Bartholomew was an apostle, and although I was not consciously aware of that, I suspect the influence of day residue, because in The Leftovers last night several disciples were mentioned, and I've never been able to keep disciples and apostles straight.] The man shook his head, and when I looked again at the button I saw the letters rearrange themselves into the name "Balthus," which seemed to make a bit more sense... in a way that I can't entirely explain. Still hungry, I licked the button. I thought it tasted a bit sour and metallic, a bit like licking a D battery but without the tingle. The bronze button had been darkly tarnished but now gleamed where I had licked it, so I licked it a few more times to polish the highlights. I looked at the letters again and now they read "Ubewiz," a name meant nothing to me, though I thought it sounded vaguely Polish. [DL: I just noticed the symmetry between the verb "polish" and the adjective "Polish," so I suspect dreamlogic lay behind this observation.]

FA: I woke up (so I thought) and immediately fished my dream journal out of the bottom drawer of my bedside table. [WL: This was a realistic detail, because although usually I keep it right on the table next to the bed, for the past few days it has been in the drawer.] I flipped through it and couldn't find a single blank page, but I didn't want to waste any time so I started writing my notes in the margins. I was jotting down keywords: "Bartholomew, Balthus, Ubewiz," read the first line. Then I included brief notes about the fabric elephant and origami fish. I hadn't gotten very far when I woke up again and realized that I had been taking my initial notes in a false awakening and would have to start over, so once again I pulled my journal out of the drawer and wrote—grateful for the blank page this time—"Bartholomew, Balthus, Ubewiz."

    13. “Finding Nemo’s Girlfriend”

      by , 04-21-2017 at 10:21 AM
Morning of April 21, 2017. Friday.

I am watching a movie which is supposedly a sequel to “Finding Nemo”. It may be called “Finding Nemo’s Girlfriend” or at least that seems to be the main plot.

The movie seems to be in an advanced form of CGI. The fish speak and seem very “real”. The search is on for Nemo’s girlfriend (though it does show her in certain scenes where the others are not aware of her location). After a time though, it is revealed that there are people in very unusual costumes with mechanical attachments that create the animated fish in the movie. This includes a smaller robotic fish (or another ocean creature in robotic form) attached to the top of each person’s head, as well as attachments to their arms and some sort of cylindrical form around their body. They seem to be on break and sitting on chairs in a semi-dark studio. There remains a vague (but mostly subliminal) association with being in the Cubitis living room. For a moment, I am confused, as if they do not care about Nemo’s girlfriend or properly ending the movie, but then I realize it is just the making of a movie in progress and the fish characters are not real beings.

What a curious way to validate fish as symbolizing lower levels of the conscious self, submerged in the dream state, playing a role in real time.

    14. What does this symbolise for me? 🐟🐬🐳🐋🐠🐡

      At Frankie's,
      Fragments,

Fish coming out of the plants around me as I walk they seem to be coming from anywhere I look - they are alive ...it's a bit weird ~ I want to run but I realise I am dreaming! I stop and allow the fish to land on my hand one by one as if effortlessly manifesting from thin air. I look at them closely - they are mostly black and flat but alive.

"I am dreaming" breath and slow down ✨
I ask my friend what this means what it symbolises - He said it means I must take these abundant fish everywhere I go, give and share them with everyone -" like a gift "I thought and this made me happy - but then he explained that by giving everyone the fish they would then be connected back here to him and that was important. I felt deep inside that there was something not right about this this ...controle ...I wanted to think nice thoughts about it and in giving the fish generously " how nice etc" 🌈but I just couldn't 😬I felt it was a bit of a con and wander if I should be involved in this giving of fish so that this control I could be had...I am puzzled and saddened as I wake.

We are in a big complex - G has a major role to play I seem to be of value and am doing my best yet I am keeping myself in the back ground. I become aware there are some teachings on - being given- I feel I should be there ...but wander why I am not...I see there are some who realy want to go and I could easily go but I am not...I am told its on Tatagatagarba. I finally go in, late, and slip into a seat anf put headphones on. It's wonderfully loud music and I love it - I start dancing and moving around with delight - people think I am a little mad.
I am jumping around on a mooving train I can't find G and shout if anyone saw him...no ...the train is picking up speed going passed the platform now ...I can't be sure G is on the train ...shall I jump off and wait or stay on....I stay on...the train is moving too fast - I am away and hope G is with me🌺

    15. Lucid ocean; Flying; Indoors

I guess last few times I was doing classic middle of the night WBTB. I didn't do this since I tried it when I first started with LDing.

I was asleep at 4 am when I heard the watch chime, I was just getting lucid, and then heard it again at 5 still lucid. Got up at 5:45 after some non lucid.

      Last night
      9:40 pm - bed
      1:27 am - 2x300 Alpha GPC
went straight back to sleep to get up later
      3am - got up for a WBTB
      3:34 am - 2x4mg pure galantamine
and going straight on a sofa with back raised to half sitting position, on my back.

Was rather sleepy so when I heard my wach chime at 4am, I was already asleep. I decided to turn to my right side. I think I turned to my left next, before I got lucid.

      1.
I was in a mall and we were apparently Canadian. Our canadian ID was getting us in trouble, so we went to a forgerer to get us some new IDs.
He had a creek behind his place and I wanted to jump in a swim.

      2.
I am outside and I want to fly. I float up and grab one of the branches of a tree that was growing somewhere much higher than I was. It looked like a jungle vine hanging from the skies. I held on to it and I felt it will help me fly. Then I thought I can just make huuge swings on it since it was so long and I did. That was awesome feeling. Going fast and feeling wind on my face.

      3.
I dropped to the ground and wished hard for it to be an ocean. It changed into water and I sank down. The water stayed brownish murky but I made out outlines of some huge sharks and whales swimming by.

      4.
I'm in a mall and I walk into a small side room. I drop to the floor and I want to swim in the ocean again. I look down and the floor is painted with an ocean scene. Beautiful blue water with sea creatures of all colors. I just flopped there for a while when I realized it's not gonna happen.

      5.
I'm standing on a shore of a wide concrete cannal with a rather steep slope leading to the water. I look closer and there are fish swimming in oval shape in this completely clear water. I watch in fascination small fish, big fish, blue fish, red fish, haha, mantas and all kinds and shapes and sized of fish slowly swimming by.

      6.
I'm showing somebody how to phase through objects. I pick a trashcan on the street and walk through it like a ghost.

      7. Last dream, already non-lucid.
I think this is still at the forgerers place. Somebody wants to put fish into my aquarium and I say hell no, I barely waited the fish out to die, I don't want any more fish. They say "but they are alive" and sure enough, 2 tough fish are swimming around. The more I look, the more creatures I find living in there. I think I start changing the water.

This should be a dream sign for me. Reading Ophelia's DJ last night during WBTB, when she said aquarium is her dream sign, I realized I have lots of aquarium and fish in a water dreams. And then I have both of them, haha.
