    3. First Recorded Lucid! Night of the 12th

      by , 08-03-2011 at 05:30 AM
It's late in the evening and I am pretty beat from the day, so I decide to get in a few z's and maybe a short dream.
Shortly after closing my eyes, I find myself in the middle of a dream

I think I am outside, in a metropolis, and the vibrant blue twilight is bathing everything in a nice royal blue tinge. I can't remember what prompted me, but I reality checked with a nose pinch
      I'm dreaming
Everything begins to feel like it's vibrating at a very high frequency and I am suddenly in the void.
I am surrounded by darkness, but I can see myself. I hear, feel, and see that everything is vibrating very fast so I try stabilizing by looking deep into my hands.
The stabilization seems to be working
, but the vibrations eventually make me fall back into reality.

Fuck! I curse under my waking breath. I'm awake, but something feels off...

      I reality check . . . Awe yeeeaaahhhh
I jump out of bed and I am outside. I am stabilized.
I think about the list i've made of tasks to do while lucid and I decide on a few first.
I make a great leap to test my abilities. Once I land, I leap once again and take flight!
To Chichen-Itza! I am soaring in the sky; against strong headwinds I push on.
Dont think about flying! I tell myself. Dont think about the fact that it's not possible. I begin to doubt myself and i feel more and more turbulence. Look at what you've done, fantastic. I plummet to the earth . . .

Son of a bitch! Awesome as it was, I didnt make it to chichen-itza . . .
I reality check with another nose pinch
and I fly straight up out of my bed. Hehehe
Seeing as flying to chichen-itza was met with a crash landing, I try a different approach.
Still flying, I drag myself across my ceiling over to my closet in an attempt to use it as a teleportation device. As I approach my closet I see myself standing there, with some sort of holographic purple cube floating in my hands.
Somehow i know that this is my interpretation of death. This isnt something I was going to deal with at the time so I cast it off as ridiculous and fly off, but before I leave my house I remember to check myself in the mirror to see if my astral form is any different then my regular self.
I look into the mirror and see myself. My plain old regular self, black jeans, black bullet bill t shirt, short black hair. I may have been holding something in my right hand.
Somewhat disappointed that I was no different, but also somewhat relieved, I decide to try teleporting via another method. I recall reading about the spinning technique to change location and a falling back technique used for the same purpose.
I do both at the same time for lulz
but i wake up in my bed.

A RC and I fly out of my bed once again. I fly out the door, dragging myself along the ceiling (this is like when you are playing a video game and your character is running forwards, but there is a wall in the way so he slowly slides to the side while still running forward lol) I try and draw myself a portal with my finger this time. I trace out a large rectangle, it has sparkling edges but the portal itself is a void.
Im not too sure if I should enter, there is something strange about it.

Before I can enter, I'm awoken by my my family being loud.
Soon after I awake, I realize that the house in my dream was not my house. This house was a bungalow with bright yellow-orange walls with a white ceiling and large potted palms out in the front.

All in all, I had a good time
    4. missing an airplane

      by , 07-29-2011 at 11:59 AM
      Good morning, everybody.

      Dream #1

I was in an airport with my mom and a man, probably my mom's old boyfriend, JT. The airport was large, with huge, tall corridors, and it seemed pretty empty. We were trying to get my mom to one flight and me to another flight. J and possibly my mom (or I?) were dragging along one of those pull-type suitcases on wheels.

We went through one corridor with a tall, wide window wall. Off to the left, at the far end of that corridor, was a smaller hallway that was apparently an actual terminal. We then went through another large area that somehow reminded me of a mall, even though I can't remember any stores being there.

We then got to an area that looked like a back area somehow. It was huge, multi-leveled, with an escalator going down to a lower level, and it had polished, beige, marble walls. I felt like we had to be close to where my mom's flight was taking off. It seemed like a relief to me. I knew that once I had gotten my mom onto her flight, I could get onto mine.

But now my mom left me and J. She walked to the far end of the area and up to something that looked like a customer service or returns counter in a department store. She told us to wait a second, that she had to take care of something.

I knew that my mom was going to take forever doing what she was doing. So I just left her and J. I ran away from them, looking over my shoulder and waving as I told them that I wished I could wait for them, but that my flight was leaving.

I ran through the area with the glass wall and the smaller hallway. I had a feeling my specific gate was far away from here. I wasn't actually quite sure where it was. I looked at the clock on my phone. It gave some time around 4 PM. I thought that was fine. I didn't need to catch my flight until 4:30.

But then I thought it over. I was really far away from my gate, I didn't know where my gate was, and I was already within half an hour of my departure time. That's when you start getting cut out of your flight! I looked at my watch twice more. First it said 4:08, then it said 4:13. I realized that I was in trouble, even if I found my gate right now.

I took my phone down from my face. I was now actually running outside. The airport was like a mall, or more like an agglomeration of big-box stores. There were different airlines indicated outside of different buildings. Some airlines had their own buildings.

I was up on some kind of asphalt slope, looking down to the buildings. I ran around the corner of the airport and then for a certain distance more. I then looked at the building closest to me. It had signs for a number of different airlines. But I was looking for Continental.

I knew that if I had gotten to this building, I had gone way past the building with Continental in it. I even looked down at a ticket or card I held, which was red and said "Continental Airlines" on it in blue lettering.

I turned around and began running again. I was pretty sure that there was absolutely no chance that I could catch this flight. But I figured that I might as well keep trying. I looked up at the sky, which was a kind of gentle blue, tinged with a pale, golden yellow. I may have seen a bird or an airplane flying through the sky.
    5. Thailand, Pyramids and Nazis

      by , 07-28-2011 at 11:38 AM
28-07-11 I am wearing a blue suit and I am talking to a couple of my friends, Thomas H. being one of them and I am in Thailand. Well I am technically still in Denmark, but they are in Thailand and we are talking together. I tell them that I am going to go there as well.

My family is going so I end buying a last minute ticket to go with them. I am flying with a company called (something) Airlines, could be Scandinavian. I arrive late, and I have to supply a code to the check in lady, who then herself guides me towards the next step. Here I get asked if I have my ticket printed and I tell her I don't. She starts a process of printing it and then she need me to tell me the code name I have assigned to the passport I have already given her.

I tell her I don't remember that (gee, maybe because it doesn't exist ^^), but the first lady helps me by supplying the prompting word “bottom”. I quickly remember that my password is “Rock” and when I say it the woman proceeds to printing my ticket.

When we get to Thailand the first thing we do is to go deliver our bags and then go visit some people. My dad and I are with the man of the house, while my mom is with the lady. As we are walking down some stairs I hear my mom explain why she didn't like her the first time we met and I can hear that she is getting drunk.

The next dream also centered around being in Thailand. Here Janni T. becomes relevant as she is actually supplying one of the rooms that we have to stay in. This room is in the middle of a lake and you have to go through an underground tunnel in order to get there. I am happy that we are staying with her and by the way she smiles so is she.

My grandparents ask me at one point if I would like to switch rooms with them to the room closest to the foyer, because it gets filled with dust and their health isn't too good to deal with that. I off course tell them it is ok, though I am a bit sad that I won't be bonking close to Janni.

I am talking to someone with Eliot L. We are just talking to a woman and each other and I start adding small intellectual insults after each sentence when speaking to Eliot. He laughs and the woman sort of looks at us in surprise.

I explain that it is how we speak and joke with each other, and Eliot keeps laughing while agreeing to that.

I am at the pyramids, captured and working for the Nazis, I don't particularly recall what we are supposed to do, but some of it involves going up and down big scaffolding on both sides of the cleft we are in.

As we are doing this, when approaching the top there is a long rope that is carrying up bricks. When inspected closer it isn't actually “one” rope, but many smaller connected to each other. There is a mechanism that tells when an individual has pulled enough (the full length of the little rope) and it doesn't take that long to take your share. The Nazis are working on the parole that while we are there we might as well help getting some materials up that we can later use in the work we are supposed to carry out.

After I have taken my share of rope pulling I actually take a bit more for the people coming behind me, because I am unsure as to how I am supposed to let go of the rope to the next in line. So a couple of workers get a free ride that time.

My next assignment is to go through a small narrow passage way towards the top floor of a house. In fact before I enter the small passage way I believe I am already on the top floor. The assignment isn't specifically for me but there is a sign on the door in there that the door is very narrow and I am very slim so I end up just doing it.

There is an emergency exit just on the other side of the small door, and it is these that I am supposed to close. When I look around I see a ladder up to my right. I decide to go up and take a look, the good Nazi worker I am ^(>.<)^. I find myself in a room, like a teenagers room, though more grown up.

I go around and I close all the windows and doors I can find, when I all of a sudden have a conversation with Thomas H. and it becomes apparent that I am in his sister's room. He tells me that he has never even dared setting his foot in there.

When I come to myself she is standing in the room and I slowly walk over and explain to her that I am just there to shut the emergency doors as per instructions. She reacts calmly and accepts the explanation before she tells me to just get out. I do so as my job is done and it would all have been great except if I hadn't become naked as I walk out the next door and she looks at me.

I think I have an explanation for it, but I blush and I question myself if the reason I have given is factual and if I actually believe it myself.

    8. 07/08/2011 - "Portals: the Search for the Dream World Academy Begins" (Dream Chain)

by , 07-09-2011 at 01:08 AM (Oneironaut Zero: Dreamwalker Chronicles)
(An amazing adventure, this morning. So I had become really interested in the new Dream World Academy concept, and wanted to give locating it in a lucid dream a shot. I wasn't really sure that I would have a lucid dream, but I got up early and had enough time to try a WBTB. With about 3 hours left to sleep, I came to the computer and browsed DV for a while, reading through the Academy thread once again. Then i lay be down and set my intention to recognize when I was dreaming. [Eidt:] By the way, I still have some journal entries to post, from the days and weeks before this, but I figured I would just start again from here, and I will post those previous dreams later.)

      07/08/2011
      Dream One (a):
"Portals: the Search for the Dream World Academy Begins" (Dream Chain)

It was night out, and I was in a type of old, harbor town, near the water. There were two teams of tactical military forces battling each other, throughout the streets, and I had been sneaking around in the dark - scrambling over rooftops and slipping through shadowy hallways - trying not to get discovered by these gunmen. At one point, I was running along the edge of a rooftop with one of the soldiers trailing behind me, wearing very modern and high-tech gear. When I came to the edge, I knew I had no choice but to try to jump for it, but I was in the air before I realized just how high up I was. My stomach turned as the street-lit road came up at me. In that last moment of panic, though, I recognized how unreal this situation was. On hope and desperation, I braced my hands and feet for impact and landed in a surprisingly relaxed crouch on the cobblestone(like) walkway. I was definitely dreaming. Immediately I remembered the goal of trying to find the Dream World Academy. Even though this area had a lot of close-set houses, there seemed to be many more dark hallways then actual doors. So my chances of finding a portal to the Academy weren't looking all that good. I did find a statue of an elephant or some other large creature, in a courtyard and, remembering the importance of touching things, to keep grounded in the dream, I climbed atop the statue and sat on its head, feeling the stone surface beneath me with my palms.

After some time, I found myself on the far side of the small town, still set close to the water. This was the opposite team's quarters, and they accepted me in as if I was automatically on their side, anyway. The way they ushered me in - as opposed to the way the other team was actually trying to capture/kill me - made me feel like I was already a member of their faction. Once I got accustomed to them, and things had settled down, I went exploring again. This place was basically an old restaurant, on the water. There were plenty of doors - bathrooms; closets; etc. - and I quickly got to work, opening them all and trying to find anything behind them which I wouldn't expect to find, otherwise. But, even when putting some will power and intent behind it, a bathroom was still a bathroom. A closet was just a closet. While moving through the quarters, I kept touching things; dragging my fingers along the walls and counters, just taking in the sensation of how the surfaces felt. I also made sure to keep looking at my hands, periodically, not wanting to lose the dream before I could meet my objective. After searching to no avail, I found myself back in the bathroom. Everything was still vivid, but I was losing lucidity, probably due to just getting daunted by the fruitless search. Something caused me to remind myself of my mission, though. I had almost forgotten. I was still dreaming, and I had to find the Academy. I looked briefly in the foggy bathroom mirror, but I didn't want to focus too much on my reflection. (I've had some pretty crazy encounters with my reflection, before, and didn't want to get side-tracked.) I left the bathroom and kept searching.

There are some parts here in which my memory seems to jump around. At one point, I was in the kitchen, which looked just like mine. It seemed to be day time outside now, and there was this really shady-looking cook in there with me. He made some type of threat to me and pulled a knife. I told him that he didn't want to try anything, because this was my dream, and I could crush him, if I wanted. I proved this by raising my hand and levitating some Tupper-ware off of the counter with telekinesis. Shocked and amazed, this cook instantly developed some freakish, homosexual crush on me. He casually slipped around behind me, embraced me, and kissed me on my cheek. Completely weirded out by this, I almost reached back and elbowed him square in the nose. I decided against it, though, and just slid out of his grasp, turning to face him defensively and making my way away from him, also not wanting to get caught up in fighting in this dream. Another fragment came when I found myself sitting in a residential garage, at night. There were headlights of a car beaming in on me, and two guys got out and began walking toward me, threateningly. My lucidity had begun waning, but it was still there. I reached out my hands and tried to push the oncoming men away from me with TK, but it didn't work. Uncontrollably, I questioned whether I was back in the real world. There was a fleeting moment, there, where I felt entirely stupid for trying to use TK on these guys, like I was some kind of wizard or something. I jumped up to my feet and ran like Hell.

(I woke up here, and saw that I still had about an hour and a half to sleep, so I lay still and relaxed, trying to drop myself back into the same dream.)

      Dream One (b):
I was back in the harbor town. I don't believe I WILDed, but I was already lucid, from my earliest recollection of this new dream. Moving along the docks at night, I had to stick to the shadows again, slinking my way passed the opposing team's sentries, and making it back to the HQ of my apparent allies. Still checking my hands and touching things, to keep the dream stable, I started searching around the restaurant again. Stepping into the dining area once more, I noticed that I had just passed a stunning woman, whom had grabbed my attention from the corner of my eye. I actually turned around in place, and looked back over to the wall, where she was sitting. She was a classy-looking brunette in an old-fashioned black dress and hat, sitting by herself. Smiling, I walked back over to her, leaning in close. She stared up at me, becoming visibly excited at how close my face was getting to hers. Again, she looked like she knew me, much like everyone on 'this side of the battle.'. There was an anxious recognition in her face - kind of like she and I knew each other very well, and she knew that we weren't supposed to be getting this close. (Now that I think of it, she reminded me a lot of Mal, from Inception.)

I could see her breathing heavier, the closer I got, and she just stared up at me. Finally, I kissed her. Nothing too crazy. I really wasn't trying to get caught up in LD sex, and I could see how easily that could have come next. She decided to tag along with me, though, and we moved on through the dining area. Still feeling a little, uh, randy?, I used some telekinesis to tug at the shirts and blouses of a few of the girls that were seated at nearby tables. I was never able to pull one of them off, but could only kind of tease them into moving a little bit. Moving further down this hallway, and headed back toward the kitchen area, we passed an older man; a waiter or host. I decided to ask some more DCs if they new about this Academy/castle, stopping the waiter and inquiring about it. He seemed to have at least some idea of this place I was speaking of, but really no information that helped us in finding it. In the kitchen area, still unable to find a portal, we came across an old T.V. Then, it was actually the woman, who came up with an ingenious idea. Why just look for doors? She turned on the T.V., which was only static, and she jus kind of motioned to it. I knew immediately what she was implying. Stepping forward, I put my hands out to the glass, slowly phasing into it. I had been through mirrors before, but never into a T.V. The white and black fray of static filled my view and completely enveloped me. I simply relaxed and went with it, trying to set the intention for this makeshift portal to transport me to the Academy.

I wound up in a jungle area, in the day time, still lucid. There was a stone slab of wall in front of me, and lush green vegetation all around. A small pit full of water sat off to one side, about 7 feet in diameter and filled with knotted ropes of vines and plant life, stretching down into some of the most crystal clear water I could imagine. I met another woman here, who was a bit of an Amazon, and very 'Earthy.' We got to talking about the Castle I was looking for, and she seemed to be well aware of it. She said that it was hidden back in the mountainous area behind the old harbor town, where the two opposing forces were battling. She also went more into detail about how varied the portals can be, saying that portals are everywhere. Whether or not they will take you to the Academy isn't guaranteed, but that they were everywhere. She pointed to the little well/water pit next to us, that I had been looking at earlier, and told me that it was a portal that would take me back to the harbor, and that I could continue my quest for the castle from there. I jumped into the waterhole, and sank, everything going dark for a moment, and then doing some generic, kaleidoscope-like tunnel transition.

I was back in the harbor, at night, coming up from beneath the water, somewhere way out in the lake or bay or whatever it was. I could see the layers of stone buildings, just off the water. I knew that the warring parties were still battling, and was going to continue to do my best to stay out of sight. While I was treading water, I could see a figure moving around, just beside me. It was still the dead of night, but there seemed to be some sort of soft light coming up from beneath the water, just enough to see that the silhouette was of a dolphin. It poked its head up near me, and I could see that its skin was actually as black as its silhouette was. I then began to get a little anxious, because I was in this huge body of water at night. I knew it would only be a matter of time before the sea monsters came out to play. So, focusing my mind for flight, I sort of 'surfed' my way forward through the water, and then up and out of it, hovering up onto one of the docks and setting out to find more portals. My flight was feeling very awkward, and my body kept wanting to defy my intention; floating in opposite directions, having trouble staying elevated, etc. I was able to float up to one of the high rooftops, and I grabbed onto the ledge, just on the outside of a staircase. Some of the 'enemy' team were assembling on this rooftop, and they then began walking down the stairway that I was hanging on the outside of. I ducked away behind the railing, hanging precariously off the edge, overlooking the street. They passed practically within inches of me while I watched them, through the stone banister, and one of them looked back to talk to his squad. When he did, I could have sworn that he looked dead at me...but he never said anything to alert his men.

Within this area of the harbor, I still had a hard time finding a lot of doors, so I went to searching for other 'types' of portals. I found what looked like a sewer drain, in the street, and figured that this could serve as a great portal. Setting the intention to show up somewhere within the academy, I jumped into the hole in the earth. Another Avatar-esque transition through a colorful tunnel, and I again found myself in the jungle setting, where I had earlier spoken to the Amazon woman, but she was nowhere to be found. I took another tunnel from this scene, and ended up back at the harbor town. Still not having any luck with doors, I just kept crawling into holes and dark paths, trying to find a portal that would lead me to the Academy. Throughout all this 'jumping,' I vaguely remember one moment where I showed up in some place where there was a kid around, whom I considered a threat, for some reason. I think he was going to alert the opposing team of my position. I got him side-tracked by asking him if he wanted to see some 'magic' and used pyrokinesis to light my hand on fire. He was enthralled by it, and I somehow used that distractions to escape the area. After another portal jump, I ended up back at the harbor for like the 4th time, only it was day time, this time. I wasn't really expecting to find the Dream World Academy in the daytime (I'm gonna have to ask if it's supposed to appear in the daytime or not), so I actually tried to make it night out, myself. I went through a hallway and commanded that it would be night time, when I emerged from the other side. Didn't work. So, I spent the next few moments hopping in portals and trying to find one that would bring me back to this harbor area in the night, so I could just fly to the mountains and look for the castle the old fashioned way.

I woke up before I was able to find anything, though.
    9. Of Community Centers and Churches [Night of June 9-10]

by , 07-02-2011 at 04:31 AM (The Lab Notebook)
[This is a catch-up post. These dreams are from the night of June 9-10, 2011.]

Awake, Non-lucid, Lucid, [Commentary made while awake]

I'm walking around the downtown area of a city. Every block is covered with tall buildings. Most of one block is covered with a three-or-four-story building with signs that identify it as “Jews' World.” It's their community center and place of worship; it is built around a narrow, rectangular courtyard/entryway with doors to various rooms leading off of it. I look at it and think, Wow, that's pretty cool, having a community center like that.

Directly across the street from this center is a similar, five-or-six-story community center and place of worship for the LDS church. A woman walks out of that complex and walks down the street. We pass each other in the street between the two centers, walking in opposite directions. The woman recognizes me and calls me “Pie
[$RealFirstName].” I know that “Pie” is a nickname for [$OfficeBoss] [yes, he is LDS in real life], and that the use of that nickname as a title before my name indicates that I am a member of the in-group associated with [$OfficeBoss]. I'm rather disturbed that the woman both knew who I was and associated me with [$OfficeBoss] in such an intimate and familiar way.

Having realized I was dreaming at some point during this sequence of events [again, I'm not sure when], I decide to start flying. I take off and get pulled in a random direction, backward and sort of sideways. I try to control my flying and start flying forward by concentrating on details of the scenery I can see in front of me and trying to examine them more closely, as I did in my previous lucid [on the night of June 5], but it doesn't work. I attempt this method of control several times. When it stubbornly refuses to work, I just give up. I think, Fine. I'm just going to let myself get pulled along to wherever.

Then that dream faded to black, yet I remained consciously self-aware. I'm not sure if I was actually awake [more likely] or still asleep and self-aware during the gap between two dreams. At any rate, I remember that I knew that I was still asleep [however that works; I really don't even know what was going on here] and that if I just waited patiently, another dream would begin. I did, and it did.

I'm in the central courtyard of a big, old church made of yellow-tan stone. On one side of the courtyard, there is a large, windowlike opening in the wall with no glass, and on the other side of it are rolling vineyards. I briefly think of going flying over the vineyards, but I decide not to. Instead, I explore the building I'm in, and find a large kitchen knife. I pick it up and look at it, reflecting upon it: What's this doing here? We don't do sacrifices of living creatures in my church. We don't have to.

I go into the building, find the kitchen, and put the knife away. To get to the kitchen, I have to go through the parish hall. There are other people in there. I continue to explore more of the building, concentrating on just what a wonderful gift it is to be here in a dream and be lucid.
      [That's the last I remember.]

[Later, I had another nonlucid.] A whole bunch of the important businesspeople I know in real life, including [$OfficeBoss], have come over to House #2 for an early-morning presentation that I'm supposed to be giving, and they've all crowded into my bedroom. I wake up late for the presentation. In order to get into my closet, I have to ask [$OfficeBoss] and another man to move aside. I'm embarrassed to be seen by all these people while wearing only my black nightgown. [It was the same one I was wearing in real life that night.] I take too long to get ready, and all my guests wander off.

I go out into the rest of the house and see that my mom has put up all the Christmas decorations, even though it's June. I run the vacuum cleaner in the study; P. is there. I get a second shot at doing the presentation, and this time, it works out. I'm grateful that the first attempt, where I got up late for it and everyone left, was just a dream. [LOL!]

[Fragment] I'm in a house or hotel somewhere with MLT [a real-life friend]. I demonstrate to her the fold-out bed that's built into the wall, and she declares it to be too opulent. The building is cylindrical.
    10. Trying this out...come and see.

Haven't explored any of these sights before, though I have been lucid dreaming since I was a child. When I was younger I would frequently have terrible nightmares of monsters chasing me and being trapped in my own house. These nightmares would often be mixed with lucid dreams. Later I learned to control my dreams even more, eventually turning my nightmares into my own personal playground. I became the hero of these terrible dreams, giving myself the ability of flight, control over the elements, and unmatched strength. Since then I have had lucid dreams almost every night. Some of the more fun reoccurring dreams are protecting friends and family from evil monsters, hordes of zombies and I, lately, have been protecting strangers that my mind seems to create. A couple dreams in particular I've had recently are ones where I had to protect a certain young man whom I had never met before from secret agencies trying to capture him. I've fought off these "secret agents" by use of martial arts and even sending a tsunami towards their agency location. One favorite stranger dreams was that I was fighting Chathulu via DBZ style fighting while trying to protect yet another young man.

So there is a little peak inside my head...what do you think?
Feel free to leave any comments, or thoughts, or even stories of your own dreams. I am looking to connect with fellow lucid dreamers.
    11. Low-Grav Fun, Brief Scene-Changing Success, and Work (Night of June 5 - Reposted)

by , 06-16-2011 at 06:24 AM (The Lab Notebook)
[This is both a catch-up post and a repost. Apparently, there was a server crash recently that ate this entry after I posted it the first time.]

Awake, Non-lucid, Lucid, [Commentary made while awake]

Some events unfold that I'm not a part of. [I don't remember what they were now, but there was definitely a plotline involved, and I was definitely just an outside observer.] When these events are over, I find myself sitting in a movie theater, watching the end credits of a movie. I realize that all of the preceding events were a movie.

I walk out into the theater lobby, which is long, narrow, and wedge-shaped, growing slightly wider as I approach the entrance. I walk out through the theater's glass front doors onto the sidewalk. There, I meet up with my parents again.

My parents and I are in a strange,
[possibly?] open-air, car-like vehicle with a hired driver. I'm showing them around the quaint, seaside downtown of Lake Worth [which, as usual for me in my dreams, looks absolutely nothing like it does in real life; it looks more urban]. We marvel at the awesomely cheesy anti-drug mural painted on the wall of one building.

[Different dream.] I'm flying above M. Road, traveling north, but facing south. I'm being pulled backward by that unknown, unseen force that so often does that in my flying dreams. I realize that I'm dreaming and take control of the situation by concentrating on the details of the scenery around me, as if I were going to stop to admire them. It works as intended: my backward motion slows, then stops. Then, I start flying forward under my own willpower, heading toward home (i.e., south). As I fly, I admire the rich detail of the scene around me and how much like reality it is.

[Dreamskip.] I'm now in a quiet, peaceful, suburban residential neighborhood, on a concrete walking path separated from the backyards on either side of it by fences. I hop along the sidewalk like an astronaut on the moon, making slow jumps that carry me several feet into the air, then slowly floating back down in an arc. I'm enjoying the fun of being in a low-gravity environment, which my dream environments often are.

I get up onto one of the fences and perform several floating glide-leaps from one parallel fence to another, combining jumping with flying. Then, I decide to try to change the dream environment to a different one by closing my eyes and spinning. I think, If I'm going to do that, I'd better start from a standing start. I jump off the fence I'm on and float gently down to the sidewalk. Once I'm standing on it, I think, Neopia, and close my eyes, but forget to spin around.

When I open my eyes, I'm in a much different suburban neighborhood. I'm standing in the middle of a straight street, looking down its length. It's lined on both sides with brightly colored, two-story houses with lush, green trees in their front yards. It doesn't look much like any of the official artwork of Neopia, but nonetheless, I become aware that this is Neopia, and that I've succeeded in my goal of changing the scene and getting there. I'm so excited about this that the scene winks out of existence after about two seconds,
      and I wake up. [Sigh.]

[Later, different dream.] I'm attending some special event at a theme park on behalf of [the company I've been teaching with]. I'm with SH and TS [two of my fellow teachers]. We're all wearing our white lab coats, and we're walking across a plaza that has a circular concrete beam running overhead, around the perimeter. I see some friends of mine wearing full rubberhead Sesame Street character costumes, also walking across the plaza in the opposite direction. I say to the young man in the Elmo costume who is carrying the head and looking sweaty and tired, “Hi, Mark. Go get some water.”

There are many other people there, changing into or out of costumes. Many of them are hanging their hangers on the concrete ring. TS suggests that we hang our lab coats from it, but I prefer to go back to the trailer, which
[only in the dream, not in real life] has sides with panels that open to reveal closets [like my band trailer did in high school]. I want to put my lab coat there because I can make sure that trailer is locked.

      --------------------------------------------
      Side notes:

That first scene, where I realized that everything that had preceded it had just been a movie I was watching, was a particularly cool example of day residue. I had just been to the movies the evening before I had this dream. The recent article about how dreaming and watching movies produce very similar patterns of brain activity has informed the way I watch movies now; I always mentally compare the two experiences. In the movie I watched on this evening (Limitless), the ending felt exactly like being suddenly, rudely awakened by an alarm clock when you're still right in the middle of a dream. It's not surprising that that experience gave rise to an actual dream in which a movie ended and I suddenly realized, “oh, yeah, that didn't actually happen, I'm just watching a movie.” Both within the dream and in retrospect, that realization felt very similar to the realization, “oh, yeah, that was just a dream” that I've often had just after both false and real awakenings. Therefore, that moment of realization within that dream felt very much like a false awakening.

It belatedly occurs to me that Neopia is an entire planet. If I chose only one specific locale on that planet and made that the focus of my intentions, I'd probably have better success getting there.

Jupiter's great red spot... beware of the Shitties if you go there... (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This broke my lucid dry spell. Its count was up to 10 days. I have been extremely busy these days where I did not even recorded dreams. I told my self I had to do the ToTM this month. I have a 10 month streak completing the ToTMs within the first 7 days, so I did not want to break it.

I had a different job, with a few days off in between. For some reason I could not be at home so I spent most of the day out. I decided to enter a bank and spend the day there, using their wifi with my laptop. I was in the lobby, next to the ATMs and some PO Boxes. A post office employee arrived to drop some mail. I felt I was on the way so I moved away. I realized that if I went there everyday, they would end up calling the cops thinking I was homeless or something, so I exited there.

I decided to go to a McDonalds. I met some people there, along with some girlfriend I had. We sat in front of each other and we had some talk. Suddenly, a train with milk and condiments passed behind me (inside the McDonalds) and dropped some milk on me. I got pretty pissed and complained about it. After some chat with the manager, he told me to sit in other place. I sat on a different table, and the manager sat on my old seat, next to my dream girlfriend. I texted with her a few times and also went by her and kissed her. The dream started to fade, but I wanted to travel to the future to see what was going to happen.

I was in a huge church. I remembered I wanted to search for that girl and find out what was going to happen. I met with some folks and her dad. I told him I was her boyfriend. The dad smiled and told me where she was

I suddenly turned lucid and realized I was dreaming, but I wanted to follow the plot. I saw my real wife sitting in a table, alone, and she said hi to me. I ignored her but then I went back next to her. She looked at her hand and wore no ring, she was shocked. I could feel my ring in my hand. I told her I was dreaming and I had some girlfriend, but no worries because it was just a dream and I loved her in real life. I kissed her and left.

While I explored this church, I recalled the ToTMs and how late I was this month. I started to fly and flew through a few windows, as usually, they shattered. It was very sunny and warm. I saw a huge sea, where I decided to dive into it. I needed to find some sunken treasure. I went down and down and it became darker, but I saw a wooden chest. I opened it and found a few golden bells. I shook them and they made some noise
(Same noise as Polar Express ones) I found it funny and brought them back up into the surface.

As I was flying with the basic done, I started to fly at a very high speed, and told myself I was going to fly high up to the moon and beyond. I realized that I needed to go to Jupiter and realized it was going to be quite a trip. I saw a heavy storm and I flew to it, again, at a very high speed. I landed where the storm was and realized that I could teleport from storm to storm. I felt the wind and could hear the lightnings. Suddenly a rough voice (the storm's voice) told me what I was doing. I demanded the storm to teleport me to the Jupiter's storm, on the great red spot. The storm asked me if I was sure, I said yes.

My body lifted and I started moving at light-speed. A few seconds later, I could see Jupiter and how I was approaching to the red spot.

I was excited in seeing Jupiter for the first time. I suddenly landed abruptly and I was there.

The ground was intensely red. I could see the clouds. They were red, gray and black. The wind moved super fast, I felt a few times how the wind hit me in the face and body. However, the wind never lifted me. I could hear a lot of lightnings, happening like every 1-2 seconds.
I looked up into the sky, and all I saw was a huge mass of red and black clouds.

I tasted the storm. It had a watery taste, but it was sour and salty. I also could feel the smell of sulfur and rotten water. I felt the water very strong on my face and hands. The water was warm, but not too hot.

As I was done with the storm, I planned to go back to the previous plot, however, I saw beyond the storm an enormous city with a ton of lights. It looked extremely futuristic. In addition, it was crowded. I decided to explore the city instead and see how Jupiterians were.

The storm told me, "Do not go there, you will piss of the shitties!!!" I ignored the voice of the storm and flew over this town. As I was flying over it, I could see how this futuristic town vanished and saw instead small orange houses inside a red forest. I started to land and these houses looked like pumpkins. I landed and I could not hear any noise, until a Jupiterian appeared. They were like giang grasshoppers. They looked angry at me and became hostile. They were walking on two paws, the largest ones they jump with. The other two pair, were like arms.

I started to fly away from there while I could hear the storm saying, "You won't be able to scape now, the Shitties will eat you. You will not even be able to scape your dream body!" I felt that was a lot of nonsense so I started to fly away Jupiter, while the storm said, "The atmosphere in this planet is way far than yours. It is an extremely long flight to exit this planet, you will not be available."

I kept flying for a long while, until I tried to wake up myself, as I felt it was time to record the dream. I appeared in my bed, but it was extremely hard to open my eyes. I could sense the shitties fighting my eyes so they would keep closed. I saw a dark figure behind my bed, but ignored it. I felt it might have been my dream guide in Freddy Krueger form waiting for help. But I was fine on my own. I kept fighting to not fall back asleep until I woke up for real.
    13. May 30th 2011-Dream Guide

      by , 06-06-2011 at 03:25 PM (Adventures of a 21st Century Dreamer)
      Dream Guide:

      Lucid-----Nonlucid-----Comments
I was walking down some street when I realised I was dreaming, so I slowed down and took in the sights. I was in an area that was sparsely populated, and one particular house drew my attention. It was a wooden house with the door open and looked kinda like this
I entered the house and peeped into all the rooms on the first floor but it seemed to be deserted. I then started getting a scary vibe from the house. I called out a few times but no one answered, the lighting was getting darker and darker and I was thinking this could easily turn into a horror dream if I continued being nervous so I calmly walked out of the house. The scene had now changed and the house was on a hill, below I could see a small town with a few shops and some DC's . I decided to investigate and without intending to, I teleported to the town. I could see a small shop and inside was a girl and someone I assumed to be her father, they both looked oriental. I walked up-to the shop and waited for her to serve one of the customers before approaching the till area. She looked up.. and I decided to try something out

hi,um I was told I could meet my dream guide here.

She looked confused and glanced over at her father for help. He approached us and nodded towards me. But before he could speak the door opened and in walked a cross between me and my father. I then realized the shop had turned into a restaurant and that I needed to stay present and not get too drawn into the dream. This guy walks up-to us turns towards me and says

      That's not how things work.

I recall trying to remember the exact way he looked but I can only remember that he was wearing a smart purple shirt and plain black trousers. I assume he is my dream guide and ask him what he means.

DG: I'm not meant to be here, but you passively changed the course of the dream.

At this moment I was thinking that as-long long as it worked who cares.

DG: in this scenario we are meant to be meeting at this restaurant, but come with me.

We exit the restaurant and the scene has changed again, we are now in some kind of city. As we start walking he says to me

pay attention to how realistic this is. I look around me and start taking in the sights again but get distracted somehow. He then tells me to go and have sex. I don't even argue and fly off in search of a girl. I spot a potential mate walking with an older woman on the street below, they are both carrying suitcases.I decide to land but misjudge my speed and crash into a building and drop to the floor, I get up and realize that my potential dream guide is leaning up against a wall motioning me to get on with it. I ran up-to the two women and grab the girl. The older woman who looks like her mother starts screaming. I ignore her and start undressing the younger girl. She resists at first but then gets into it.

After about two minutes the girl disappears and so do my clothes. I then notice that there are some Muslim guys about to pray on the street right next to me. I start feeling ashamed and look towards my potential dream guide, he gives me a mischievous smile and he too disappears. Ashamed and naked I spot some bins and run towards them. I crouch behind them and try giving myself some new clothes, but nothing works. I start feeling dejected and stop caring about the clothes, I then stand up from my crouching position and suddenly I have some clothes. The scene has changed again, I'm now in a residential area which I recognize as my best friends place. I can see him standing in his front yard playing on his Nintendo 3ds. I tell him that this is a dream and that I have been dreaming for quite some time. I also tell him that my dream guide just screwed with me and ask him whether he wants to help me track him down.

He doesn't believe me so I plug his nose and tell him to breath. He realises that this is a dream and asks me how I plan to find my dream guide. I tell him that I don't know but I'm sure it will be fun, he agrees and we start walking. Then I get swamped by a lot of dogs and wake up.

    15. Petpet Park and Newport Beach (Night of May 28-29)

by , 05-31-2011 at 06:45 AM (The Lab Notebook)
Non-lucid, Semi-lucid, Lucid, [Commentary made while awake]

I'm in an old, dusty, dark shop with gray-brown, wooden walls, a high ceiling, and lots of rows of wooden shelves. Mr. H. [my first music teacher] is there. When I see him, I tell him that I'm glad to see that he's still around and still active.

There is a sign hanging from the ceiling above a passageway that leads to another room. The sign points the way to different departments of the store. I walk through the passageway into another, larger area of the shop. This area is the grocery store. A large family with a bunch of kids is grocery shopping there. I hear one of the members of the family mention that they only ever buy produce from Ralphs [a grocery store chain in my area], so they won't be buying any here.

[The dream shifts, and] I'm playing Petpet Park. I'm controlling my usual player character from a third-person perspective, just like in real life, yet my computer isn't part of the dream; the world of the game is the world of the dream, and I'm controlling my character using only my will. [That was pretty awesome, especially for a non-lucid.] I'm walking around a spooky, Halloweeny-themed area [that looks nothing like any of the ones that exist on the real site]. I'm inside an old building. While there, I set off a quest by causing a penguin non-player character to start walking forward from his spot next to the wall. He's off on his way to make a potion. This event is the first in a quest series that is accessible to non-paying members as well as paying members. I spend some Nickcash to get into a small room off to the side.

I decide not to go through a narrow doorway into an area where I could start some other quests. Then, the spooky atmosphere of the area starts to scare me, and I decide I want to get out of there. After getting outdoors,
I decide to try to fly to Celestial City. [Celestial City is another in-game area with a more beautiful, peaceful mood. In the real game, player characters cannot fly. I think the fact that it occurred to me to try to reach another in-game area by flying indicates that I was gradually beginning to realize that I was dreaming, and not playing the actual game.] I fly away from the ground [or rather, my player character does; the dream is still in third-person point of view], deliberately playing the Celestial City background music in my mind. I close my eyes [somewhere around here, the dream shifted into first-person point of view] and open them again, trying to make it daytime, instead of nighttime. It works for a few seconds, but the sky quickly darkens to night again.

[The dream shifts again, and] I'm watching a scene from a movie involving a flyover view of an airport. I can easily identify the shooting location as Ontario International Airport because of the view of the mountains rising behind the airport buildings. In terms of design, the buildings resemble the old buildings that were all there was to the airport back when I was a little kid. They're bigger than the old ones, though, and in the same position as the new buildings, although they're not as long as the new buildings.

[Dreamskip.] I find myself flying over L.A. and the ocean. I am now definitely lucid. I can feel my pulse pounding in my head. I strongly suspect that the sensation is coming from my real body, but I choose to ignore that thought and focus my attention firmly on the dream. I use the moving-my-fists-together-or-apart technique I've described in previous entries to control my flight.

I'm driving along Pacific Coast Highway. I decide I want to drive to Newport Beach. I know I've succeeded when I pass a motel that has a sign on it that says “Newport Beach.” I also pass another, two-story motel that has water slides built right into the front of it.

When I get to the street that leads down to the beach, I turn left, then peel off to the right to follow the road that leads down from the mesa and over to the beach.
[This road exists in real life. The motels do not, as far as I know.] Since I've met my goal of driving to the beach, I think, I am awesome!
