    1. 11/3/14 Santa Claus Sign DILD, possibly DEILD

      by , 11-03-2014 at 07:45 PM
...Later I drive to a combination of the back of a high school and the house of the brother and sister in law of M and J from 90 minutes north. While driving I got to a precarious point behind the football stadium where the road seemed to drop off to the left and the road was muddy. At some point I get to their house and they are allowing me to pick from a stack of golf balls that slowly disappeared...perhaps as I dug through them they sunk to the bottom of the container. One of them had like a snowman or a ghost figurine popped up out of the golf ball...useless as a golf ball. Another golf ball had a hole in it maybe where a ghost was pulled out of it. Later while looking for my car I run into the wife and we seem to have an attraction towards each other and I tell her she's one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. She is crying and consoling in me and she helps me look for my car so I can get going so that the husband doesn't catch us getting close and we see her daughter and I wonder if the daughter I will be suspicious of us. The daughter is sitting inside of a barn-like structure. I either awake or I have a false awakening where I think about how the fact that I was looking for my car should have come to mind as a dream sign. I am at some point back in this area that's outside the back of a High School and in a shed or barn I see a sign that says Santa Claus can be found 750 feet up from here.

I realize that I'm dreaming and start flying up there knowing that I am the one to decide how far up is correct...that there is no need to worry about a specific distance. The dream gets a little fuzzy but I find the door and knock on it. I guess it is Santa Claus that opens the door...everything is still fuzzy. He says something like you can have anything you want and knowing that I'm in a dream the only things that I can keep with me after the dream is over are good lucid dreaming memories so I ask him to take me to my favorite place, but to surprise me. Just before that I thought about asking for my favorite grassy sea beach but I instead opted for a surprise. We seem to be transporting somewhere and for some reason I decide to help it along by doing my eye clench thing whenever I am in between dreaming and awake and trying to go into a dream.
I should have just briefly closed my eyes - if anything at all. Anyway I woke myself up and found myself back in bed. I think that I confirmed it with an RC and was definitely convinced that I was awake back in my bed. Kind of early for Christmas, but a little gift either way. 225 Good string of lucids in recent nights.
    2. Pumpkin Innards and Monster Blood (DILD + DEILD)

      by , 10-03-2014 at 05:38 AM
Ritual: WTB 1am, woke 4:45am. Read, drank spice lassi, 7 minutes SSILD meditation, WBTB 6am. Relaxation, counting, mantra, took probably 30–45 minutes to fall fully asleep. Woke 7:30am with dreams.

      Alchemy: 400mg L-Theanine, 400mg Alpha-GPC 50%, 750mg Aniracetam, taken at end of WBTB.

Notes: Two days ago I was buying ice cream in RL, and it occurred to me that I should use this as a motivator. "You can't eat any of this ice cream until you have a lucid dream!" I told myself sternly. Then last night I was thinking of eating something else for dessert, and I decided to be even more strict: "In fact, no dessert for you at all until you get lucid!" Given everything else that went into my attempt, including excitement about the brand new TOTMs, I can't estimate to what extent this reward-based strategy was a factor in the successful outcome, but it's worth experimenting with some more. Either I'll have more LDs or I'll eat fewer sweets, so it's a win-win either way!

I've been working on my mantra, and I'm currently going with variants of "Do we perceive the dream?" When going to sleep while counting I was thinking this on the off-counts, and as the hypnagogic state started to set in, at one point I noticed myself thinking: "Do we believe the skies?" ("Skies" as in the sporting equipment, so the rhyme was preserved.) This was so absurd I had to rouse myself and write it on my notepad!

By the time I started dreaming, it seemed as though there was a degree of dream-awareness from the start of the sequence, but I don't think it blossomed into full lucidity (with agency) until I remembered my tasks. There was no specific "moment of realization," and yet overall the dream felt much more like a DILD than a WILD, so I'm calling it a DILD.

DILD: I was standing in a narrow lane, enclosed on both sides by walls and buildings, in a residential area. A woman came out from a nearby house and walked past me, carrying a cat. Two other cats were running after her anxiously, so although their size suggested that they were almost fully grown, I intuited that the they must be the kittens of the cat she was carrying. The cat in her arms had wonderful markings, almost like tiger stripes. One of the ones that followed had a similar coat, a cross between tiger stripes and a Bengal's spots. A few minutes later a third cat came along, also striped.

I was so taken with looking at the cats that I didn't want to get too far behind, so I followed them and called the young boys that were with me to keep up. One of them was pushing an empty wheelbarrow but soon left off and went to chase after his friend, who had now gone ahead of me. I picked up the wheelbarrow and pushed it along for awhile, but it was of very primitive construction, all wood, even the wheel was just a disk of solid wood, so it was cumbersome. I wondered why I even needed it. I had noticed that one of the other boys who had gone ahead was giving his friend a ride in another wheelbarrow, and figured if I kept pushing mine, one of the boys would likewise ask me if they could ride in it, which would make it even more cumbersome. So I put it down and continued along the path.

There was a barn to the left, with an open door, and I decided to turn aside and explore it. This meant there would be no way of catching up with the others, but I didn't feel much urgency to do that anymore. The barn was full of old objects, and seemed to be used as storage of some kind. I remembered the TOTM and reasoned that in a rustic place like this it should be easy to find a pumpkin, so I started looking around for one. I climbed a ladder to a ledge which was serving as a shelf for additional objects, and was pleased to find that one of them was a large pumpkin. Everything else was covered with dust, which made me wonder how long the pumpkin had been sitting here. It was probably this concern that made me notice that the pumpkin was looking a bit sagging and rotten, but I recalled that the TOTM instructions didn't specify anything about the condition of the pumpkin, so I figured that it would still work!

Before I could reach for it, I noticed that it wasn't the only pumpkin: now I saw that there were three more on the shelf within arm's reach, all of them of slightly different hues and shapes. I was glad there was an alternative to reaching into the rotten pumpkin, so I grabbed the one whose appearance I found the most interesting: it was small, squat, and had a faintly bluish tinge. I figured I would start with this one, and if I didn't like the results, I had three more to work with.

Part of me wanted to just punch my fist into the pumpkin, which would have been faster but less elegant, so I forced myself to take my time and cut it open properly. I produced a knife from somewhere, without really thinking about it, and began sawing a circle around the stem, just as if I were going to begin carving a jack-o-lantern. When I completed the circle I lifted up the top section, revealing the interior of the pumpkin, and reached inside. The pumpkin was small enough that my hand barely fit, and I was groping around in the stringy goop and slimy seeds trying to find something else in there, hoping to encounter something interesting and unanticipated. All I felt were the pumpkin's ordinary innards, though.

Initially I had left my anticipations open-ended, but now that the dream was coming up empty-handed I tried to seed them with some expectations. Although it was a small pumpkin, there would be plenty of room for a ring. Might there be a ring inside? I squished all the pumpkin innards around in my hand to make sure I wasn't missing anything, but there was nothing there, nothing that wouldn't ordinarily be found in a pumpkin. The only distinguishing feature was that the stringy goop and slimy seeds, despite their very naturalistic texture, had the same bluish tinge as the pumpkin's skin. (I think this might have been day-residue, as last night I had been reading an Amazon review of a set of mala beads beads made in China that complained how the wood had soon developed a weird bluish cast.)

At that point I decided to give up on the little blue pumpkin and get started on the other three, but inconveniently I woke up. I considered getting up and writing my report, but felt that I was still in a state where it would be possible to DEILD, so I fixed the previous events in mind and let myself drift back into dream.

DEILD: This time I found myself in a place I recognized: it was the house of my maternal grandmother that I often visited as a young kid. It is a place that often shows up in my dreams. On this occasion, the theme of "blue" seemed to carry over from the last dream, as I noticed that the house now had a beautiful deep blue carpet that looked brand new. "Nice new carpet!" I said loudly, in case anyone was home. My grandmother is long dead but in waking life my uncle lives there now. In the dream, however, the house seemed quiet and empty, and no one responded to my complement.

I felt very lucid and clear, more so than in the beginning of the last dream, and remembered my standing intention to reflect on my bodily awareness. Sure enough, I could feel the characteristic tingles in my abdomen and especially in my legs that I associate with dreaming. (My hypothesis is that this "tingling" is a product of REM atonia.) I also associate this sensation with the ability to fly in dreams, so I experimentally levitated a bit, and then tried to implant the mental suggestion to be more aware of this body state while dreaming, with the aim of getting lucid more often.

Returning my attention to the environment, I wondered what task I could try next. I had been interested in the other basic task, drinking blood, but I didn't want to have to go all vampire on anyone who I might happen to encounter in this house, given that this was a place where my own relatives lived. "Perhaps if I look in the refrigerator, there'll be a cup of blood in there," I figured. It seemed a reasonable speculation, but after opening the fridge (which at the time I didn't notice was on the opposite side of the room than it is in RL), I didn't see any likely candidates. What would a cup of blood even look like? And would it still count for the task if it came from the fridge? The instructions didn't specify a source. But the idea of drinking a cup of refrigerated blood was not appealing to me, so I thought I should save this task for a more suitable occasion. I much preferred the idea of drinking it vampire-style, especially if I could get the bonus by drinking it from a supernatural creature.

Closing the fridge, I wondered what other tasks might be suitable for this environment. I remembered my lucid dare, and that struck me as a perfect idea: when I was little I always used to walk and play in the forest behind this house, so it was the perfect "enchanted" forest in which to go looking for elves. I continued walking through the house and went out the back door.

The world that greeted me once I stepped outside was startling in its freshness. The colors were deep and rich and luminous, more so than I usually see in dreams, and I was struck by the beauty of my surroundings. There were some distinct differences from RL: in the far distance I could residential areas covered in mist, as though I were looking at a town from the summit of a tall hill. The forest I hoped to find was present, but quite a bit further away than I would have expected. And walking across the grass of the wide lawn that lay before the forest was... a minotaur? I looked again. No, not quite a minotaur... it had the same general lineaments, but the head was that of a horse rather than a bull. Nevertheless, the creature was clearly supernatural, and it reminded me of the blood task again. I didn't want to miss this opportunity, since it was walking right toward me, so I approached the creature.

I didn't want to just grab the monster and start biting him, since he would surely conclude that I was attacking him and fight back, which could be counter-productive. So I went up to him and asked politely, "Sir, would you mind if I drank some of your blood? I only need a cup." He was at least seven feet tall and surely had plenty of blood to spare, so I didn't see any reason he should refuse. To my consternation, he seemed unsettled by my request and tried to demur. But I didn't want to pass up this opportunity, and figured that I had already met the demands of good sportsmanship by clarifying my intentions, so I grabbed his left arm (I was facing him, so it was the arm to my right), extended my fangs, bit him right in the crook of his elbow, and began to drink. Although he was tense and rigid, he didn't fight back, and I concluded that he must be experiencing that peculiar pleasure that the prey of vampires are often said to feel while being fed upon.

I paused to look up, gauging the creature's reaction, and was surprised to see that his appearance had changed. His head was thrown back, his eyes closed, but it was the head of an ordinary man now, no longer that of a horse. The task was to drink from a supernatural creature and see how it changed me, but it turned out he was the one that was transforming! I returned to drinking his blood before he could recover his wits and fight me off. However, the blood wasn't coming very quickly. Either I had picked a bad spot where the blood couldn't flow freely or he was still resisting me in some way, perhaps stifling its flow through the tension in his arm, which was still very stiff. I woke up before I had finished drinking, and promptly concluded that I didn't think I hadn't drunk a whole cup's worth, if we're measuring technically by eight ounces. However, it turns out that it is hard to estimate the quantity of blood you're drinking when you're getting it right from someone's arm!

    3. Proto-Lucid: Half Memory, Half Dream

      by , 08-27-2014 at 08:00 PM
NLD fragment, early: There was a band of Thai Buddhist monks in Bangkok called "Sacred Light." Contrary to what you'd expect, their music was surprisingly harsh and experimental. A musician from another band commented about one of the group, "His music has an edge of irrancidity." I woke up and for a few minutes I remained fully convinced that "irrancidity" was as much of a real word as "rancidity" (sort of like how you can legitimately say either "regardless" or "irregardless").

NLD: (I'll gloss over this since it was tedious and contains a lot of RL details. It was a basic anxiety dream: I was performing a task at my workplace and I was ill-prepared, everything was going wrong, and a senior colleague was observing the whole fiasco.)

Proto-lucid: After the anxiety dream I half-woke and was reminded of my speculations lately about the degree to which increased stress in waking life might actually be a condition actually favorable to lucidity. I slipped from these musings into a proto-lucid event—I don't want to call it a "lucid dream" per se because it felt too superficial and unformed. It started when I transitioned from my half-awake thoughts into walking past the house where I grew up. The back door was wide open, including the screen door, and this bothered me. Was the house abandoned? Or were the people who lived there now just careless? It was not a good idea to leave the door open like that because the nearby wetlands meant that the summer air was always thick with mosquitos and biting flies.

I stepped up to the threshold and called out, "Hello? Hello?" There was no response. The interior was decorated differently than I remembered, which I attributed to the fact that other people lived there now. I was reminded of the last episode of "The Leftovers" I watched Sunday night and figured that with the door wide open like that, even a large animal like a deer could wander inside. I decided not to go in—it didn't feel like "my" home anymore and I would be intruding on someone else's space, even if they weren't present. However, the wide open door still annoyed me, so I closed the inner screen door. Then I mostly closed the outer door as well. If the inhabitants came by and found their door unexpectedly closed it might startle them, but they should know better than to leave it open in the first place.

I continued walking around the side of the house and headed down toward the chicken house and barn. I was impatient to cover the distance so I started running, and I was reminded how good running felt when I was living here in my teens. Sometimes I would just run across the grass with sheer exhilaration and excess of energy. It's been a long time since I've felt like that—especially when running! When I got to the space between the two buildings I peeked into the chicken house, but it was empty so I went into the barn instead. I had noticed some people in the pasture so I crept quietly through the barn to the lower area where it connected with the pasture and peeked around the wall. Yes, there were definitely a couple people in the pasture, about a hundred yards away. I was pleased that the dream was finally starting to take some initiative and manifest something other than the basic environment. However, I didn't want those people to see me, since I still felt like an intruder now that they owned the place, so I remained hidden.

I went back inside the lower level of the barn and headed for the stairs that led upstairs. Meanwhile I reflected on how muddy and vague the environment still was, despite the fact that the dream had been otherwise stable so far. My senses were crap. I had experienced this in plenty of WILDs—which in hindsight this might have almost been, though since it had started in a non-standard location (my WILDS typically involve me "getting up" out of bed) I simply might not have recognized it as such. But at that time I still didn't want to give it credit for being a real dream at all, because I felt that it didn't quite measure up. Maybe I'm getting too critical; on reflection it looks more like a real dream than it felt at the time. But that's probably just a trick of print: the dreamstate was not really rising to the occasion, and I felt too much like I was "working the controls," as it were.

Anyway, I was contemplating the muddy, vague environment, which I felt was being shaped almost more through my conscious memory of the place than through the independent activity of the dream. Last night I had been reading a thread on DV about ADA, which included claims that greater awareness in waking life can also sharpen one's dream senses, and I couldn't help but acknowledge that my ordinary level of perceptiveness in waking life is probably much lower than most people's—because in effect I've spent most of my life practicing how to filter things out, not let them in. That said, my dream senses are usually reasonably sharp (with the exception of taste and smell) and my recall can be quite good, but I thought that perhaps the muddiness of the environment this time had been conditioned by that chain of thought.

I headed up the stairs to the upper level of the barn. I wandered around a bit more but don't recall encountering or thinking anything else of note before I woke up.

On waking, I realized that the circumstances were now all in order for a proper WILD attempt, but although I went through the ritual in a way that felt like it should have been successful, in the end I just fell into a period of regular sleep without even an NLD to show for it. This has actually happened several times over the last couple weeks, which is irritating given my satisfying successes earlier this month.
    4. Competition Thread #17 night 5 & 6

      Tuesday night: 1 fragment= .5
      Wednesday night: 1 dream = 1 pt.
      1 fragment = .5
      successful WBTB = 3 pts.
      Lucid= 5 pts.
      successful RC = 1
      Successful stabilize= 2pts.
hand through a solid object = 4 pts
move completely through solid object= 8 pts.
Total for tuesday and wednesday = 25 pts

      Lucid on Wednesday:
I went to bed at 9 p.m. I woke up at 2 a.m. and fell back asleep at 4:30 a.m.
I am at a "school" which is in appearance my grandfather's house. It is fulll of people. Looking out a window,I see some threatening people approaching. I sneak out the back door and lie down in the gravel driveway, playing dead. My brother appears and tells me that we need to help the people in the school. We enter a house that is alongside the driveway, looking for something to use to defend the people in the other building. I climb a flight of stairs (the interior of this house appears like a barn). There are throwing darts (from the game) stuck in the steps. I pick them out as I climb the steps. At the top of the steps I see someone who looks as I did when I was about 12, doing something on a strange looking computer. There is something weird about the perspective. Thinking about this, I realize I am dreaming. Lucid, I state "I am dreaming" i Look at my hand to RC, it is very distorted. I have one thick central finger with little crumpled fingers growing out from each side. I rub my hands together to stabilize the dream. It feels like I am rubbing my hand on sandpaper. I feel "heat" from the "friction". I look around and the scene has changed. I am in a bedroom. One wall has blue wallpaper with white dots on it. The other walls are painted light yellow. There is a window. I remember my goal to push my hand through a solid object. I push both hands through the glass in the window pane. They pass cleanly through. I decide to crawl through the window. I bend down and push my head, shoulders, and torso through the pane of glass. When my head enters everything turns grey and indistinct. After passing through the window I am in bed. It is the guest room at my grandmother's house. I think I have woken up. I do a quick RC, looking at both hands. They are tiny, like a dolls hands on the end of my normal arms. I am still dreaming. I try to get up from the bed, but the covers are really heavy and moving is difficult. I wake up in my own bed.
    5. 6-18-2013 Secret Club and jail

by , 06-20-2013 at 12:25 AM (Subjects' Dream Journal)
      Legend: Dream , Semi-Lucid , Lucid , Side notes.

      Secret Club:
I was on some mission to find treasure. I remember going to a pyramid/temple looking place in a jungle because i heard there was treasure in a cave that was inside the temple place. So i get to the temple and explore the cave and travel 2 layers underground. ( imagine a layer as like a floor in a tall building, that length) I find a treasure room, i can't remember if i take any or not, but i do remember going back down a second time but the second time, i find a bunch of corpses coming back to life and i immediately panic and run out.

The inside of the temple then changes from a cave entrance to a cave entrance separated into two by a wall. I then reach into a hole that is in my face and i feel a cube. I pull the cube out, the cube covered another cube which is attached to the inside of my face by skin shaped like rope. I then figure out that the cube will dissolve and poison me if i don't put the bigger cube back over it. The bigger cube also turns out to be a tracking device. While i find out all this, i see my dad on the inside of the temple, For some reason, i challenge him to a duel, i say if i win, he has to cut the skin holding the smaller cube in.

Next thing i remember, i'm at a party on the back of my farm. I'm leaving it with my friend. The cube is still in my face, i must have lost the duel xD. Anyway, me and a friend are going to a secret club room that is located under my barn. Now the back story about this club:
      One of my teachers
(lets call him Teacher #12) started a secret club, the rules went like this - If teacher #12 isn't in the secret club room, then he will act like any other teacher and punish students who talk of secret club nonsense.

Once me and my friend arrived at the barn, i went inside and my friend walked around the barn to go do something. At this point, i was about to enter the secret club room when i heard Teacher #12 walking outside, Since he wasn't in the club room, we were at risk of being punished/kicked out. My friend outside the barn didn't hear him and teacher #12 yelled at him.
"You think this is okay!?!? that you can just be in a secret club in THIS SCHOOL??"

Once my friend was yelled at and walked away. I started to panic because my ipod was playing out loud and teacher #12 was about to enter the barn. I finally shut the ipod off and hid, but teacher #12 was entering so i decided to exit. I made it safely out of the barn without being spotted. I then walked down a hill about to leave the area when i saw Teacher #12 in front of me. I started to wonder how he got in front of me so fast but i decided it didn't matter since he didn't see me. He was rambling on about what my friend did. "When i was a kid, i never did stupid stuff like that" Teacher #12 was commenting on my friends poor stealth on entering the club and how when he was a kid, he was excellent.

Then, as i'm walking behind him, i trip over something. I look up and there's teacher #12, He cloned himself! Him and his other body come to me and try to fight me. What surprises me even more was the fact he could stretch out his arm and hit me from a distance, He's a rubber man! But i quickly grab one of his bodies and use it to shield his fist. Thankfully, his bodies act like same-charged magnets, the body i had repelled his fist. The dream ended here.

      Jail:
It was a hot summer day. I was bored so i got on a bus with friends. I brought a drink and sandwich with me but this one fat ass kept trying to take my food. I solved the issue by taking another persons soda and putting it on the floor closer to him than my soda was, Obviously, he didn't want to reach the extra distance for my soda Success! Eventually the bus got to some place and i got out.

The next thing i know, i'm in some kind of rebellion and i'm currently helping to steal guns. Me and a group of people enter a house, i grab the guns. We make a move to leave but the police are surrounding us. We move to the next house and go out a window and then into some woods. We look back only to find drag marks from the guns and our footprints. This isn't a safe hiding place for the guns so i look around some more, and quickly lay the guns in a bush and start running.

As i'm walking back home, i see a lady on a swing, and she has a sad look. She says she knows i'm involved with the recent break in and that the police are after me. I decide to give up and i take a seat on the swing beside her. As i'm waiting there, it turns to night and i see lights in the distance. My mom is riding with the chief of police in a utv. They aren't looking for me but rather taking a casual stroll. I decide this is my chance, i could take the chief of police hostage and turn the situation around. I take the utv this lady has and set out after them. When i get close, i start to ram them. But soon after, the police come and i'm arrested. I'm taken to a dark room, i'm waiting to be taken to jail but as i'm sitting there, a mysterious man comes in and frees me from my jail time.

Another dream continues on the basic concept of my stealing weapons. In this one, i'm with two friends sneaking in this persons house. The house is an exact copy of my house. We steal the guns and go out some windows at the end. At this point, i take two quarters and seal my friends' bodies inside them and carry them in my pocket. This allowed for faster travel. I ran and ran and made it to the edge of the woods. Once i got there, i found two other people i know trailing behind me, they were interested in what i was doing and called the cops. This time, i'm arrested but sent to an underground hellish looking place. I find an android and have sex with it, and that's all i remember.

    6. 12/17/12 Starting up the DJ for the break to bring back to school

      by , 12-18-2012 at 05:48 AM (Doctor's Dreams)
      Inception Trampoline Portal Thing

The farthest back I can remember this dream is that I'm in the left back seat of my mom's suv. There was a second steering wheel on the back of the driver's seat chair and for some reason that was the one that I had to use to drive the car I was in. Apparently the one in the front was used to control via radio another car that I had to move around earlier in the dream. I think the car that it might've controlled was a small sporty audi (which for in the dream I called a BMW). In hindsight the body of the car reminds me more of a jaguar car than an audi but it had the four rings symbol. Anyways, I was in the back of my house so using the strange second steering, I backed out of the driveway.

While I was backing out I watched a scruffy homeless(y) white guy with long dirty blonde hair in a beanie go into the audi and drive it away. I had a feeling that that was bad but it didn't shake me too much. I continued on my way and drove about 20 ft until I noticed a large group of musicians, mostly string players walking towards my neighbor's house. I immediately knew who they were, they were musicians from a summer program that I was a part of even though the faces were mostly students from my college. I drove to the house they were talking to and fro from and found my neighbors. In the dream they were a wealthy white couple with straight light brown hair, late 20s to early 30s and they were dressed up for something. I got the feeling that it was a funeral except everyone seemed happy and the wife was in a red dress. My mom was there too but she wasn't dressed up. They saw me, said hi, and I brought up the black "BMW" that I saw being stolen and the wife started yelling crying and screaming. It was apparently their car. I left and drove a lot more with my friend peter and it got dark out.

I found myself in some strange building, high ceilings with wooden rafters. It was a little more than dimly lit and a lot of things were painted red. There were two rooms next to each other, both about 30 yards long and 7ish yards deep, maybe 10 yards high. idk why I counted it in yards…one room had a bunch of twin beds and the other room I don't remember as well but that's where the story continues. There was a strange dark lanky figure that was holding open a portal. I think my ex was there and she was explaining to me that it was some type of portal of dreams that you go into and experience some sort of interesting dream dark something…I don't really remember the explanation. Me being up for most things, I said that I was down and, laying on my back I wiggled backwards into the hole and there was no floor supporting me on the other side. I fell into darkness for about 10 seconds then into another large room with the same low light and red paint. I landed on a trampoline and started bouncing around. I looked around and it seemed that this was all that was in the room so I was very confused that the hole of darkness only had a strange trampoline in it. I was jumping up and down really high, high enough that I could grab onto the ceiling's rafters (note I didn't notice that there was no hole that I could've from). Eventually after about a minute or so of bouncing I fell of the trampoline but instead of hitting floor I fell into another realm of darkness. In this darkness I had visions of myself with my arms amputated past the elbows. After a while of this weirdness I fell into another room with a trampoline. This all repeated itself again into another room with a trampoline.

At this point I realized that the point of the portal, or at least my fate in dealing with it, was to be stuck in this loop going on and on forever, falling off the trampoline, through darkness, and onto another trampoline in a room with no source for me to enter through. Obviously I wasn't happy about this so I crouched down and did what I could to "wake up" which eventually worked. I woke up in the room stated above with a bunch of beds. My friend's were shaking me and when I got up they told me that I was in Kate's bed (dunno which kate, I assume Kate M). As they pulled me away, I noticed that I slobbered a little on the pillow so I wiped it off so no one else would see it. We were walking to the other room and the passage between the two had a bunch of mirrors. I saw one mirror where I had the amputated arms and I freaked out. I looked at my own arms and they were normal and when i looked back again to the mirrors, everything was normal.
    7. November 19th - I had to walk my dead dog.

      by , 11-23-2012 at 09:20 AM
The dream starts in a house, I'm right in front of an abnormally large window and it's dark and snowy outside. I get a feeling that I need to walk my dog, a dog that is no longer alive. He is very old and sick, and can barely walk. I don't know where he is and he lingers around more like a ghost, or thought in my dream instead of an actual object or being inside of it, as I cannot see or hear him anywhere.

I turn around to my right and see a door, I know I have to go out of it, so I appear outside. Outside, there's a very tiny barn about 15 meters from where I'm standing, I'm on the top of a enormously steep and large snowy mountain that reminds you of a skiing resort. It's very dark and windy, and I get a weird sensation of danger as I walk to the barn. I know that I have to get to the barn to walk my dog. While walking to the barn I have a weird sensation that something is constantly behind me trying to get me.

Inside the barn I see a lot of camping equipment, like a tent, fishing rods an old rowing boat engine, there are a lot of other things in the barn and it's almost packed. I never step a foot inside of it, I'm still standing at the door entrance, feeling the chill on my back as I'm trying to look for something so I can walk my dog, I desperately want to be done quickly. Almost in the roof of the barn there is another "level" where you can store additional items. In the right corner of the roof compartment I see a ski, and I think to myself "ohh right, I forgot I owned those" (I don't actually have any, but they looked like the once I used a few years back) I struggle very hard to get them out of there, as I can barely reach them and there is a lot of other things in front of them.

At this point I remember re imagining my skiing experience of real life. I remember being very bad, getting stuck with one ski on each side of a tree as it was downhill. For a short moment it's almost like a dream within the dream, because I relive that experience in the dream, I'm stuck with one ski on each side a tree on the mountain I'm currently standing on, trying to loosen one of my skis from my shoe. It doesn't work. All of a sudden I'm back at the barn, standing in front of it with the skis in my hands. Thinking "why am I holding these?"

I put the skis inside the barn again, leaning them toward the right inner wall as I close the door and walk back in. I don't remember opening the door, but I remember walking to it. I now appear inside again. I still have to walk my dog. So I appear outside again, attempting to get to the barn, because it's important. It's still very cold and chilly, I can see my foot tracks behind me somehow, I don't know how, as I'm looking forward.

I wake up and I never got to walk my dog.

    8. Jungle Fever

      by , 11-12-2012 at 06:47 PM (* The Sandman's Dream Journal o/***)
      Jungle Fever

I was at my grandparents, though it looked completely different. I saw a barn type structure, though it was just a long shed.

I then noticed that the shed was gone. This was a throwback to a tree that I grew up knowing at my grandparents house, but one year they had to cut it down.

I was disappointed, but then found a pin. It was used for compost, but it was empty now, and the ground was rich. I thought I could raise chickens in that pin.

      Dream Skip

I'm in bed. A naked black girl is sitting on the floor with her back against my bed. I commented on her olive skin. She was black, but she also had some heritage from a country where skin is dark, but not black.

I asked if she would come to my bed. She asked why? She continued answering saying something like, "So I can be up there with you?"

I then realized this was a dream. I also realized I didn't have much time. I somehow knew that my alarm had already gone off once and would sound again within 5 minutes, which is the interval in which it sounds.

I quickly got out of bed and pulled my underwear down. I picked her up and put her in the bed. She was heavy. I picked her up so her head would be on the pillow.

I couldn't believed how pretty her skin was, especially against my white skin. I started to put it in. I got it in a couple inches and my alarm sounded. I woke up.

My alarm was under my pillow. This means it had already gone off once. I picked up my phone and put it under my pillow so that the alarm wouldn't be so loud the second time.

The point of that is to say that I started dreaming within five minutes of waking up for the morning. This is obviously very typical timing, but confirmed.
    9. Early Mornin' Hankerin'

Funny one this morning, but interesting all the same.
I dreamed I was sleeping on the fold out bed back at my parents' house. It was a sleepy, rainy morning. My old friend Luke, the rock vocalist, was there with me. We wanted to make love, so I got up to shut the door. I was unable to shut it quietly (which is pretty true to waking life), so my mom heard me and nobody's dummy, knew what we were up to.
So Luke and I got up and headed outside to the garden potting shed (which my parents do not have in waking life). It had been raining, and everything was soaking wet. There wasn't even a place to sit. After looking around and realizing this was not going to work, we went to the barn (also something my parents do not have in waking life).
We figured the loft would be nice and dry and cozy. We climbed up into the hay and were just getting started when my mom came wandering in! Sheesh. We quickly dressed again and tried to be quiet hoping she wouldn't notice us up in the loft. And that's where the dream ended. Wonder what that one meant? Maybe my brain was just rehashing what Luke had told me years back about doing a girl in a barn and liking it? Strange, I hadn't thought about him in a long time. Maybe my brain just wanted to have some fun, but mother figure always stifled fun.

    10. Fantastic lucid dream

      by , 05-11-2012 at 08:38 PM
I can remember that I was at a festival. Bright, sunny colors and all that. I remember a moonbounce (or bouncy castle, whatever you like to call it), probably red and yellow in color, I remember. Later on in the dream, I was eating some festival food with 4 or 5 of my friends. Somehow, I became lucid. I remember telling my friend, Jake, who was sitting right across from me that he was just a dream character. He didn't seem particularly fond of talking about that, but he did admit that he was just a dream character. Later on in the dream, it was nighttime. I thought about where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do. I looked at the night sky, and I thought to myself that I could travel to any one of the stars that I saw. But for some reason, the blackness and loneliness of space seemed morbidly frightening. So instead, I saw a large red barn a little ways away. Perhaps about 30-50 yards. Anyway, still being lucid, I wanted to take a great leap and jump onto the roof. So I jumped. As is often the case with my lucid dreams, I jumped higher than normal, but I couldn't quite get there with my one jump. So after I could tell that I was going to descend and not make the edge of the roof, I decided to flap my arms like a bird to slow my descent. This worked fine, but I wasn't going up. I concentrated on knowing that I could do anything, and I began to float to the top of the roof. I got tired of it being nighttime after this, and I thought of how I could change night to day. I saw a little slide tab in the sky, like the one you could see on an iPhone except more rounded and more translucent white.
I knew that the slide tab would change night to day. So I merely treated the sky like a touchscreen, and moved the slide tab to the right. Night turned to dawn, and dawn turned to noon.
    11. A Most Epic Not-Quite-Lucid Dream

      4-29-12

      Took a nap at 2:45, woke at 5 o'clock

I don't know the original setting of the dream, but I know that early on in the dream I performed a nose-pinch RC and it worked. I was somewhat surprised and shifted my hand to a spot that I was more sure would block any possible nasal air passage. It still worked. Over and over, probably upwards of a dozen times in a row, I did a nose pinch and every time it came up as breathing through anyways.
And so I concluded that my nose was broken and that I'd have to ask about it later.
      HUFP()@(RYHOPIQWHDUNP@J(CO$EU$@P#R!#(%$(*#)%$@#()* JECHQUWPVEHIJ@ECVDUJQWHC)(FQ#YT*(PROE()&$*$*&#(@$& !@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, now that we've gotten THAT out of the way...
      Memory gap. (grrr)
I remember after some point in the dream that I was back home in Iowa and that I had been hired for some company to do some work at a sort of facility that looked like a retrofitted barn. Retrofitted to seemingly have a six-foot-wide, five-foot-long rail gun (which is basically a completely unworkable design. I helped set up the rail-gun-type-thing in the top of the barn. After a couple hours of testing and what not, we fired it and the shot went about ten feet out of the barn before dropping to the ground.
Did I mention this is in the middle of my hometown? Actually, a larger version of my hometown?
Anyways, the round itself was hollow and square with clipped edges and no bottom edge. This was so that a person could look through it and stand with it (the round) around him as it fired. And that lucky person was me.
Luckily the firing didn't make much noise.
The third time it fired, I wondered how I would get my hand out of the way of the shot. You see, my job was to reach out in front of the round before it was fired and push a safety tab back into the wall. This somewhat troubled me, as I was to do so only within about a second of the round firing. When the rail gun fired that third time, it didn't seem to push very hard on the (square) round, and it barely cleared the 5' "barrel", if you will, before it tipped down and went crashing to the floor of the barn.
So much for a rail gun.
I took my leave at that point, because it was my break then, and biked around the city some. Again I'll say it was my hometown, Cedar Rapids, but it was larger than normal. (In retrospect it reminds me more of Manhattan in size and building type.)
There's a gap in my recall here, but I know at some point that I stopped to talk to my dad as he was walking somewhere. He mentioned that I didn't need to remotely blow up the rail-gun barn at 3:30 (I had a wireless trigger in my hand), and I panicked because it was 5:23. {note: though my watch was different than normal, it was accurate to the amount of time that had passed.} I reasoned with myself that it must have been intentionally diffused before that point, as I hadn't heard it blow up while biking around. Soon after I and my dad parted ways and resumed biking (me) and walking (him) to wherever it was we were individually going.
After a while I biked across the river on the 1st street bridge and back over on the 2nd street bridge. I parked my bike there and clambered up the wall-like steep side of the embankment for the road that crossed the bridge where it meets the land. On top, the road was suddenly the flat, tar roof of a building. It was also midday instead of evening (as it had been earlier), and the roof was hot and... bouncy? (Weird.) I walked around on the massive, flat, multi-building roof that I had found until I ran into my dad again. (not literally) We talked some more and he began bouncing on the roof, which was now as resilient as a trampoline. We ended up agreeing on some task to finish before the day was out, and I returned to the area of the roof where my bike was and explored some.
After another gap in my memory, I know I was back at my house. Sort of. The exterior was pretty messed up, and I remember that I was chasing around some young'uns through the house and around it even. I know at one point out behind the house that I needed to go from one end of the house to the other. However, behind the house there was a lot of equipment like you'd see behind a large store or hotel, but smaller. On my right, halfway down, there were two shiny steel boilers or cookers like you'd see in a pricey restaurant. They were running full steam, and when I walked near them I saw that the only path to get to the other side of the building ran right next to them. One problem I noticed was that there was a small metal arm of sorts attached to the nearer boiler and it reached out half of the width of the walkway. It had a 6" disk-like thing on the end, and there was no reason that I thought I couldn't just duck under it or slide by. Don't ask me why I thought it was stopping me, I just did.
I pushed the arm a bit to see what it did, and when I did the lid on the closer boiler raised a little and some of the contents leaked out. It looked like some sort of soup or sauce.
Well, I figured that my best bet was to just getthroughasquicklyaspossiblenandhopethatIdidn'tsp illanything. So I did. I did spill some on me, though less than I expected and only on my arm. As I continued to run, rounding the corner of the house, I (the curious George of a boy) licked some off to tell what it was. It tasted a lot like tomato soup, but stronger, and it had some other flavors and textures that makes me think it was probably a sauce of some sort.
So I clearly do have taste in my dreams, I can finally say with confidence.
Well, when I got back inside my (first) brother was in the kitchen on the phone. I sat down, exhausted, and noticed that his hair (which he like to keep shorter than about two inches) was now thin and long, falling past his ears. When he got off the phone I commented that it made him look like Don Moen. (This was actually a completely incorrect comparison. Don Moen wasn't even close to right; he looked more like Don Francisco.) He laughed at that and reached to a point on my hair (also long) and said that "it'd have to be ten inches longer that that" to be Don's hair.
Again, that should have been Don Fransisco, not Don Moen, but it wasn't.

      {Don Francisco: http://greatgreatjoy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/forgiven.jpg}

I woke, and I tried to make a WILD. I even successfully cleared my mind of most thoughts other than that I would wake up on the bench in the kitchen where I and my brother were and he'd tell me I was dreaming. When I did fall asleep again, however, I didn't dream before my roommate had kicked me in the rear to wake me up. It was dinner time, so it was okay, but I do wish I could have continued the dream.

    12. Catching up

by , 04-17-2012 at 03:38 AM (My Dear Subconscious)
I havent been on in a few days so these are my dreams from the past few nights.
      • Werewolves at burgerking: I went to a fast food restaurant with my friends and the two girls that worked there turned into these dog human things.. not really a werewolf but close enough. (somehow i dissapeared and just watched the rest of it) They captured my friends and stuck them in a van and were about to eat them and i woke up before anything happened.
      • Grandparents house with lesbians: For some reason i had a dream that i was attracted to women (which i am not). And i had two girls that wanted me. We were all hanging out at my grandparents house and things were a bit different. There were witches things and herbs everywhere and i saw one of my "girls" get possessed by some sort of cloaky shadow. Then, out of nowhere my friend dalian shows up and bring his entire family. Which was extremely awkward because dalian is african american and so is his whole family whilst mine is caucasion.
      • Cuddling with my ex: I used to be dating a guy over the internet that i have never met in real life before and i havn't spoken to him in weeks. The other night i had a dream that me and Raine (yes that was his name) were together and we were cuddling on the couch and then i used his lap as a pillow. :/
      • Exploring a barn: (partly lucid) I was exploring a barn that's pretty close to my house with some friends and i gained lucidity and started hovering. but shortly after i couldnt hold it and i woke up. too bad.
    13. Vicious Attack

by , 02-17-2012 at 09:01 PM (Jakro Goes Hardcore Into LDs)
Couple of crap days again. Let's delve into a nightmare classic. One of the last dreams of 2009 I'm gonna write here.

      Vicious Attack
      Date: December 6th, 2009
      Lucid: No

I was in the edge of our fields, and there was also my brother and his girlfriend. Some airplane flew over as and it's engine sounded weird. Dad came at the edge of the field, next to the forest wall towards us.

Nearby, there was a relatively big barn. Under the barn's roof there was a space, from which you could see inside the barn. In that space there were couple of guys.

You could hear from the heights, how the plane turned steeply. Someone shouted "Woo!" from the plane. My dad kept walking closer, but the guys in the barn were shouting at him for come to there.

Dad noticed that they were calling him, but he didn't react to it, rather walking to us. The plane landed on our field. It was odd that it could land there so effortlessly so near us. The plane was white, and through it went blue stripes. It was very wide and the rudder was weird.

Out from the plane came an old, disgusting looking old bald guy and three of (presumably) his sons. Oldest of them were around 20, the two others a bit younger. All of them were at least slightly fat. My brother was doing his boxing defense poses in front of our dad, which made me expect something of an aggressive encounter.

The old guy started talking about some piece of metal, with what my brother had apparently hit one of his boys. It seemed though that he was just using that as an excuse revenge some grudges he had for our dad. He had a knife in his hand, and it wasn't like a small carving knife, but a big, mean-looking meat-cutting knife. The boys were armed as well, with many kinds of blunt weapons.

"Why do you even exist?" The old guy attacked at us verbally. He started spouting some shit about agricultural law, that didn't even make any sense. Basically he insisted, that we were worthless human beings. Apprently dad had not done some thing he should have done, according to the law. What the fuck?

"If someone has broken the law, then you call the police", I intervened, and my argument was perfectly sensible. "You can't take the law on your own hands. It would result in an anarchy."

But it obviously did no help. This dream had already decided to escalate all the way. Somehow I got hold of the guys knife, and I fuckin thrusted it to the old guys side! I aimed for non-lethal spots (there's no self-defence in Finnish law - you kill a guy and you go to jail). I guess I should have gone for the kill, as the guy only got more enraged. I guess I'd get too if I had a knife in my side.

"I'm gonna kill you!" He raged. But instead of attacking me, he moved towards my dad. Somehow he got another knife and slashed at my dad with it. He only hit his arm, but that got over my threshold of horror, so I woke up.
    14. Dimension Portals

by , 01-31-2012 at 06:28 AM (Jakro Goes Hardcore Into LDs)
Another fragment recall last night, on to the classic of the day.

      Dimension Portals
      Date: October 13th, 2009
      Lucid: Yes

Once again I was in a threatening situation. Some guy was holding me at gun-point and I hoped so intensely that it was a dream, that it turned into a one. All the sudden I teleported to my living room. There was no need for reality checks - I immediately realized that it indeed was a dream. I also had an idea on what to do right away - the challenge in our forum back then was to enter a tv-show's of your choice reality. My choice was South Park, as that was something I obsessed back then.

I did stop to talk to some random little girl that was in the living room, but then I proceeded with my plan. I went out, towards our barn. For some reason outside was mostly dark, but there were some illuminated flowers there as well. I just passed them by, but as I went by them, one yellow flower appeared in my chest pocket.

Once at the door of the barn, my brother was there. I am no stranger to asking help from DCs, so I told him that I need to get to the South Park. He gestured me to follow him inside. There were some rectancular, light blue energy fields - dimension portals. My brother lead me to one of them and told that it will transport me to South Park. He went in first and vanished. I followed him through the portal and... it didn't work. I just went through the blue field. I felt this odd, cold feeling, but it didn't transport me to anywhere. I was sitll in the barn.

I tried going through different portals, entering them in different postures, etc. Nothing worked. Finally I noticed that there was one port on the floor. I dropped through it and poof! I was still in the barn... something had changed though. I felt like I had travelled through time - in to the future... 1000 years into the future. There were some people there that put an odd contraption on my head, so that I couldn't hear or see anything - they feared that I would become distraught for being so far in the future. I guess that makes sense, give me some time to take it in before exposing me into the drastic changes of the civilization.

It would have been interesting to eventually see where the world had gone to in my dream's future, but unfortunately I woke before seeing anything more.
    15. Unsanitary Airport Bathroom Search

by , 01-22-2012 at 11:58 PM (Jakro Goes Hardcore Into LDs)
Finally some more recall - At some point this DJ will be all current dreams, but for now well still keep at times returning to my most classic dreams. Today though I'll go through the last night's dream. This is pretty unsanitary and has a lot of shit in it, so if that offends you don't read along. I wonder what it tells about my subconscious that I have such dreams.

      Unsanitary Airport Bathroom Search
      Date: January 22th, 2012
      Lucid: No.

I was in an airplane, and I needed to get into a bathroom. Some butler-type guy with a neat uniform directed me to corridor to the left. That's obviously not possible in a plane so I just smoothly transitioned into what seemed like an airport terminal. There were some stalls all around the terminal were people were selling some stuff to the tourists.

A guide who looked like Mansa Musa from Civilization IV tried to lead me to a bathroom. He was really friendly and I immediately developed trust towards him. His name, as I found out later, was Navi. He said that there was a bathroom behind a stall that had turkish flag in it.

Well we went there and it turned out there wasn't any bathrooms. Darn. We ended up working with some other black dude in some kind of... Well, it seemed like our barn with it's concrete floor and wooden walls, but also it seemed like some sort of sewer. So there I was indeed just working. We were along some pipe that was spurting water full of... erm.. excrement. I had my hands full of shit due doing such dirty work. I accidentally stained the unknown worker's shirt with my shitty hands. He didn't seem to mind at first, but as I apologized he noticed the stains and seemed to get a bit upset. He splashed some shit on my face from his fingers. What was really weird that I wasn't really all that disgusted.

Dream transitioned again and this time I was wandering the city streets. I still remembered being in the airport and all that kinds of things and thought I was in some African country. Oddly enough the streets were full of white people who seemed really well off anyway. The city looked like a standard Finnish city anyway. I thought I was behind my group, or something and I ran. I ran until I saw the back of one guy I sort of knew ten years ago. I presumed it was him and at first thought that I was chasing him.

Then I got confused. He couldn't have been a part of the group I belong to. I ended up just walking behind him with no destination and with him not noticing me.

Dream transitioned again and the landscape started to look more like Finland. Land was wintery and full of snow and now I was walking along the road alone. There were woods alongside both sides of the road. I felt tired all the sudden, and some voice inside my head said that falling behind was one of the main reasons that people die in the army. Not much logic in that ending, but whatever.
