    1. Living in Japan and Shopping in My Neighborhood

by , 04-25-2011 at 06:36 AM (The Lab Notebook)
Non-lucid dream, [Commentary made while awake]

      Night of April 22-23

I have returned to Japan to live there again. I live in an apartment that is in the same city and the same neighborhood as the one I lived in the first time, but it's several times as big, and has a separate kitchen as well as a larger bathroom.

I'm outside of the building, on the north side of it, standing on a large, open, elevated concrete plaza.
[It kind of resembled the one that's part of the queue for Space Mountain at Disneyland, now that I think of it, only bigger. It definitely doesn't exist in real life, at least, not there.] I admire the view of the nearby hills and the old houses that are on top of them. [Um, what?] There is a tourist there with me, pointing a camera to the south at the big apartment building behind me. I tell him that he's at one of the three or four most popular places in the city to take pictures. [What. There are an awful lot more than three or four such places in my city, and that certainly isn't one of them.]

I have a conversation with someone in Japanese, and I seem to handle it fairly well. The words come quite easily. [And I don't remember any of them being off or weird, as they sometimes have been in previous dreams.] Nevertheless, I feel concerned about my Japanese language abilities no longer being adequate to deal with the day-to-day tasks of living here, especially not now that I'm fully responsible for dealing with all the transaction details for things like bills and rent. [This is currently of my ongoing background thoughts in real life, too, but one I haven't been able to give much conscious thought to. Obviously.] I take out my foreign resident registration card, look at it, and think, This is the one from last time, so it's expired now, but it'll be good until I can get an updated one. [Um, no. It doesn't work that way. I don't have the one from last time anymore in real life; I handed it in upon leaving Japan to return to the U.S., which is required.]

      Night of April 23-24

My mom and I are driving through a wild area in the brown car. We're looking for an outdoor wedding ceremony that someone told us we should attend. We drive along, and I spot the ceremony: it's taking place on the opposite side of the river from where our car is. We drive along the river for a ways, looking for a place where we can cross it and turn around.

[Different scene.] My mom and I are shopping in the shopping center nearest our house [the one we often walk through in reality]. We're in a smallish, narrowish store that sells beauty products. We leave it and walk along the walkway that passes in front of all the shops, heading back home on foot. There is a man there who only has the upper half of one leg left, and who gets around on crutches. There is also a woman in an electric mobility vehicle there. She's wearing a T-shirt [I think; or it might have been a sign] with text on it that says that she's from a very large family, and that her mother started having children when she was only 11 [!!]. I get into a very long, involved conversation with this woman. [I don't remember most of it now, but I do remember that] One of the topics of conversation is how different our points of view and perspectives are because of the different experiences we've had. At one point, I say, “And I don't care about kids, unless they're my students.” She replies, “You see? Different perspectives.” We walk all the way to the end of the shopping center and turn up the road that leads back to my house.
    2. More randomness on the verge of lucidity

non dream - lucid - non lucid

I wake up after ~8 hours of sleep, but I still feel very tired.
I decide to go back to sleep.

I'm in what appears to be an hotel room, but instead of a bed there is a long desk with 4 PC monitors on it, and some audio equipment including 2 microphones.
It seems that I am casting a SC2 tournament game from here. I wonder who my co-caster is.
Day9? o_O That's kind of a surprise. But then I feel like we've known each other for a long time, and it's all normal.
We cast a game between some well known player and a mouse. (Yes, an actual mouse... the animal >_>)
After we're done casting (the mouse won) we discuss that this mouse is rather intelligent, and day9 compliments the high APM.
I'm tired and I want to go to bed... I know we're at an hotel and I can sleep in the next room.

I'm now in a bed in the next room, but I can't sleep.
There's about 10 people sleeping in the room, which I find a bit weird and uncomfortable.
I get up and decide to go for a walk.
Another guy stands up at the same time, he's a friend from high school.
We leave the hotel room, which leads straight into my old high school building.
We walk through the main corridor and he lights a cigarette.
He hands it to me and I start smoking, but then I realize I'm not a smoker, and the cigarette tastes horribly.
I put out the cigarette on my hand, because I know it's not going to hurt and throw it into a trash can.

Some official person from the high school sees this and gets insanely mad at me because smoking is forbidden inside the building.
I tell him to relax, I'm not even in high school anymore.

Then he gets even more angry saying I have no reason to be here.
      "But I sleep here!"
He freaks out, "DO YOU THINK THIS IS A FUCKING HOTEL?"
      (yes)

I'm now in front of the Hotel/School outside a small restaurant.
Me and a few friends from high school are having dinner.
I notice an odd yellowish liquid in my glass, what on earth did I order to drink?
I take a sip and notice that the liquid has now attached itself to my lip, forming a string between my lower lip and the glass.
      What the fuck is this.
I try to remove it by pulling on the string with my hand.
The string just gets longer and longer.
One of my friends starts laughing at me and explains it's a chemic reaction and some sort of prank. (he's studying chemistry and likes to do pranks in waking life)
After I get it off I notice that I've just eaten a lot of stuff I don't usually eat.
I wonder why I did that and stare up into the sky.
It's night already, I can see the stars.
Wait a second... I never ate this food, the dream skipped over it, I'm dreaming!
I look back down to investigate the current scene.

But when I look back down I notice I'm no longer at the restaurant.
I'm alone, hiding in between some debris.
I look around, the scenery feels post-apocalyptic, and reminds me of fallout.
The streets are cracked, all buildings around appear to have been destroyed by explosions many years ago.
      Everything appears gray and sad.
Above me is some sort of huge construct, only supported by a few thin pillars.
Whatever it is, it is falling apart, debris is falling down, which is presumably why I hid in this corner in the first place.
I hear voices screaming that the things is coming down and will explode, that everyone should make a run for it.

I decide to make a run for it myself and start running uphill, not getting hit by any debris fortunately.
Suddenly I notice an hotel to my left, of course, I was at that hotel.
There are a few cars in front of it, and lots of people running away.
Why does nobody use the cars?
I spot a Continental GT and decide it's the fastest and most robust out of them and get inside. (I've driven one in waking life a few times)
The keys are inside, lucky me.
The passenger door opens and my dad gets inside "gogogo!"
I start the engine and drive in reverse doing a 180 to point the car into the correct direction.

I'm now in front of the street. All people are running to the left, uphill, but I can see the passage is blocked.
To the right, downhill, is the construct which is falling apart.
There's no way we'll make it going uphill, I decide to try to drive under the collapsing construct.
I put the gearbox in manual because I don't like automatics and use the paddle shifters.
I accelerate hard towards the construct.
The pillars break, and the whole thing starts coming down.
I press the accelerator pedal harder, knowing it won't make a difference, and hope to somehow make it.
And we do, by a meter at most. The construct crashes into the ground right behind us.
My dad tells me to keep going, the thing is going to explode.

I drive as fast as I can, luckily the road is straight.
Then suddenly there is snow on the road, and a corner up ahead... fuck!
I hit the brakes hard, but the car is barely slowing down.
I have to swing the steering wheel left and right wildly to prevent the car from spinning out.
Still doing 220km/h, there is no way I'll be able to slow down enough for the corner.

But then suddenly my sense of presence turns on, and I can feel what lies behind the corner.
There is a canyon right behind it, meaning if I can't make the corner we'll fall into the canyon.
On the other side of the canyon seems to be a salt desert.

I get off the brakes and back on the accelerator.
My dad freaks out. "What are you doing?"
      "Trust me..."

I don't take the corner, I just drive straight into the canyon.
I close my eyes, and concentrate on the other side of it, and try to lower it with dream control, so that we can make the jump.
As I open my eyes again, I see that the other side stays perfectly leveled with he falling car, and we make it to the other side just fine.
I see a massive explosion in the mirrors of the car...

"Out to Clean Up the Streets"

I was on the streets of a suburban area. I have a vague recollection of a few different confrontations, within this setting. First, there was a gang of thugs who kept harassing my crowd. Then, at some point later, there were bomber planes swooping in and dropping ordinance all over the neighborhood area. I became lucid, among all these occurrences, and started messing around with telekinesis, just to be sure that this was all a dream; raising my hand to the sky and controlling the paths of some of these bomber jets with my mind.

Sometime while I was lucid, there was another scenario involving a run-in with thugs. I was with a few friends, and a car pulled into the area, machine gun fire spraying from within. The bullets screamed through the area where we had been standing, and I could feel them tearing into my lower body. It hurt a little, but not enough to take me down. They just left me kind of numb, fighting off the convincing atmosphere, and trying to hold onto my realization that none of this was really happening. I remember running out from behind a hiding spot - which I'd taken up instinctively - and trying to chase them down, being peppered with more bullets as the car sped away. Ultimately, the whole experience was too intense and unclear for me to completely take control and catch up to them. I trailed off to one side, falling behind, still feeling the lingering sensation of the imaginary bullets that had shredded through my imaginary body. I held my hands up in front of me, trying to hold onto the dream, and bringing everything back into an extreme level of clarity while looking at my features.

Time went by, and I was still lucid, having a conversation with some of the DC's I was hanging out with, earlier. I started levitating small objects with my mind, to try to prove to them that I was dreaming. We were in someone's house, and sitting around in the living room and I was getting a little bored, trying to think of something to do. Finally, I said that I was going to go after those guys that did the drive-by, again. One of these DC's was the most vocal about his skepticism of the whole lucidity thing. He said that I was stupid to even try going after the thugs, because he apparently thought I was going to die. I argued with him for a moment, telling him that he was acting just like all of the other oblivious DC's. I tried to explain to him all of the weird occurrences; the gang activity; the bombings; etc. It was all classic dream content. He wasn't buying it. Oh well. The last thing I remember about this moment was picking up one of the DC's little kids, to play with him for a minute, before I left.

Soon, I was back out on the street. I was looking around for the car that did the drive-by, and plotting out my course of action. I wanted to try something new, so instead of using telekinesis as a weapon, or looking for another weapon to take on, I decided to morph my arm into one...a rocket launcher. I had morphed my arm into a blade before, but never any complex machinery. It was almost effortless. I held my arm in front of me, passively visualizing a textbook transformation. My arm began to change and shift; smoothly and organically, in some places, but in sections and compartments, in others. Within a matter of seconds, I was wielding a red and yellow rocket launcher that looked like it was straight out of Unreal Tournament. The visual detail was just incredible. It looked completely unique, yet almost too incredibly intricate to have been made up, on the spot. Since my arm was the weapon, there was no trigger, so I pretty much 'willed' myself to shoot the weapon - and firing it was awesome. With one shot, a swarm of missiles scurried out of the barrel(s), screaming wildly out to a car that was parked on the street. All 3 or 4 missiles converged on the spot and blew the car to shit, lighting up the darkened streets and alleyways around me. I never ended up going after the thugs. I just walked up and down the street for a while, popping off rounds from this bad ass weapon.

Eventually, I had found another group of DCs, and I was showing off more lucid tricks to them. At one point, I drew a door on the wall with a marker or pencil, then I opened the door, revealing another door, inside. I then opened this new door, and found a slender, wooden beam which I slid out of the wall. It turned out to be a few feet long. After that, I stuck my arm in the hole it left behind, and continued pulling stuff out. Can't remember everything that I pulled out of the wall, though.

      03/10/2011
      Fragment

I was having a 'superspeed' foot-race, with family and friends. We were all crouched at the starting line, and everyone kept trying to cheat; jumping into false-starts and whatnot. I was able to get everyone to calm down just a little bit, but the start of the race was still ugly as hell; everyone stutter-stepping into their run, and no one really starting at the same time.

The actual race was amazing, though. We were tearing across the terrain like Sonic the Hedgehog; running so fast that, even when we got out to the ocean, we just kept on running over the top of the water. The whole thing actually had kind of a Mario-Kart feel to it. In fact, I think one of the characters was actually Mario, at one point. I believe it might have been Todd, but I'm not sure. All I know is that he was on my heels, the entire race.
    4. Drive lucid

by , 04-13-2011 at 01:06 PM (Images In The Night)
I used a member's advice and tried something called ADA if i remember correctly which should stand for "All day awareness". There has to be some truth to it since i havn't had a lucid in almost 3 weeks, and last night i get one after just briefly trying ADA. It was a very brief dream, and is probably shorter than this informative part here in the beginning but the lucidity is what i was happy about.

      Lucidity-5
      Vividness-4

I'm driving a car down a road. Everything seems to be normal. It's my car and it feels just like normal. I start to question reality like i sometimes do. A reality check and... I'm lucid. I continue driving along the road. I can't believe it's a lucid dream after my long dry streak. I literally have a hard time believing it for several seconds while i'm driving, but a few reality checks put some perspective on my situation. I immediately decide for some fun. I run into the other lane halfway and make oncoming cars quickly pull off the side of the road. Some crash, but i don't really look. Then the car goes into a 3rd person view that i'm still controlling. I decide to drive around for a while.

Eventually other things happened while i was lucid, but i just can't remember.

    5. "OM" Meditation to Astral Project

by , 04-10-2011 at 06:57 AM (Percy's Void of Thoughts)
      09.04.2011
"OM" Meditation to Astral Project (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I was walking outdoors. It was sunny and warm. I was in a different city where I currently live. It was a city made out of buildings on about 4-5 stories each. The buildings were red, dark read brick colored.

I remember a street that was going uphill. The street had stairs and buildings on each side. There was a big taller building in front of me. I met with a gal who kissed me a few times. I was going to this building for some psychic convention or something. I was excited. On my way I found some made up friends until I made it to the building.

I entered the building. There was large walk-in refrigerators and some showers at the bottom. I knew I was going to spend there several hours, so I took a shower. I decided to eat something. I opened one of this refrigerators, made out of stainless steel. Inside, I found a big chocolate cake, a lava cake and some muffings. I did not feel like eating sweet, but I had no other choice.

After eating, we were going to do some group meditation. It was probably a, "OM"session. We were attempting to Astral Project. I think I was the only one who was actually succeeding. I started to feel my body numb and I felt some vibrations
(they were not like real vibrations while I try to AP, but dreamed ones) I was feeling my wedding ring too heavy on my finger and it was disturbing me to AP. I told by telepathy to other psychic to remove my ring. She did slowly, but for some reason I said something I cannot recall and lost focus. The lady said,"I felt very bad while I was holding your wedding ring and you said that."

I ended the meditation session. Now I was in a room where the ceiling, walls and floors were made out of wood. The room was pretty empty and I decided to leave. I walked through this home and I felt someone was looking for me. I decided to check my hands when I saw one of my fingers was broken.

I turned lucid. I flew away breaking up the window as usual. It was partially cloudy and I was in downtown. The buildings were very high and most were black. The dream was pretty stable so I decided what to do.

I recalled the Tasks of the Month, but they were done already so nothing. I also recalled I never missed a task of the month so I was good there. I recalled several Tasks of the Year, but I passed, I did not feel like doing them. I decided to put my thoughts in order and plan a few things I needed to do work related and metaphysically related.
(Too bad I forgot to attempt to jump to the Astral Plane from the Dream Plane... oh well) I stood floating without doing anything "dream related" for several minutes. After while, I spotted a huge dog on the top of a building. I flew to the dog and started to pet it. It was a Boxer, but it was huge, about 5 feet tall.

I also spotted another dog in other building, so I flew to it and played with him for a while until
I lost lucidity. I saw a giraffe, but it was all gray and it had huge elephant ears. When I approached it, it was more like a rhino. It trampled me and pushed me out to some sort of garbage disposal. A female employee pushed the button of a small door that said, "Not animals" It was a yellow sign with a black cow on it. I started to get sucked by something and flew away to the interior of the building.

I realized I was still dreaming. I found my wife who was afraid of something. We went to the top of the building and told her we were in a dream. I told her she was probably going to forget the dream, but that I wanted to try anyway. My wife was acting like if she had waking limitation and vulnerabilities. I told her we could do whatever we liked as we were dreaming. I proved jumping very high, but she was not convinced. I also explained to her that everything in the dream was also material and touchable. I punched a car and made a hole in the door. I told her that even I could do something I could not on waking, the car had some resistance and did not vanish.
    6. Nightmare: Terror Garden

      by , 04-07-2011 at 08:14 AM
This dream occurred about 90-minutes after going to bed in the first REM stage. I took a liquid gel multivitamin and 500mg of B5 before bed.

My GF and I were playing a cooperative video game. I remember fighting a giant turtle like monster and she was getting overwhelmed and overly excited playing it. The visuals were very 3D, even holographic, and her character was able to paint cross-hairs on the beast. (There was no fear attached to this part of the dream.)

We decided to go out. It was nighttime outside and all the street lamps were off. My GF was suddenly afraid. The darkness was making me apprehensive too which is not normal. I went to close my car door and it wouldn't shut. I moved the seat belt a little thinking it was caught. Then slammed the door even harder, but it bounced even more.

I looked down at the frame and discovered my wallet and cell phone were lodged there. I figured my phone was broke, but for some reason I didn't want to stay in my drive for another moment. I slammed my car into reverse, in a maneuver to shut the door finally using a hard left spin.

We jammed down my darkened block and near the end on the right hand side standing in front of a car was a cowering German Shepard dog. It was crouched, and it was trembling with fear wetting the street in front of the curb with urine. This was a big healthy looking animal, scared out of its wits.

We drove further and came to near to the spot of my last posted dream Neighborhood: Magic Garden. Standing in the middle of the road was deranged looking huge Rottweiler dog. It was starring me down hard. I rolled down the window this time to attempt to lighten the atmosphere with puppy talk. It just rolled its head, looking at me dead in the eyes with barely contained hostility.

We drove past and reached the exact spot of my last posted dream Neighborhood: Magic Garden There, kitty-corner to where the magic garden had been was a decimated house with the entire front end smashed wide open. I could see a couple inside. Dead. Nude. Frozen in positions of absolute horror on their sofa.

Turning down that street and driving further, the entire block was covered with thick green moss, huge fallen trees, and ripped apart houses. I could hear a massive number of frogs in the distance.

--At this point I whimpered out loud and it woke me up. My heart was racing, I was terrified, and I could still hear the din of hoards of frogs in the distance... The sound faded and it merged with my air filter which was set on low.

I don't have time to post my next dream from last night, it was much more terrifying and extremely realistic.

    7. The Race Car Garage

by , 04-06-2011 at 06:45 PM (The Lab Notebook)
Awake, Non-lucid, Semi-lucid, [Commentary made while awake]

I'm at the park in the neighborhood where Houses #1 and #2 are. I'm in a building in the park that houses a snack bar. There are various types of junk food available for sale, and there's a young man staffing the snack bar. I talk to him, saying something like, “It's nice to see this snack bar open! I've lived here since I was one and a half, and this is the first time I've ever seen this place staffed.”

I go into a back room of the same building. There are a whole bunch of little kids there, and I'm supposed to give them a speech, explaining about some kind of event that's going on. I climb up on top of the bed, stand on it, and speak very haltingly. I'm sleepy, so I go to sleep in one of the beds that's in that back room.

I'm in an underground garage, where racing cars are getting ready for a race. Each one starts out from a different parking space in the garage and drives up one of several ramps to get out onto the outdoor, ground-level race track. I stand close to one of the pillars, afraid that one of the cars will run me over if I get in the way.
There are some other people standing around in the garage, and I try to ask them how to get out. I try to shout to make myself heard over the noise of the car engines, but they drown out my voice.

After all the cars are gone, the people answer my question. They give me directions up and out of the underground garage and into a garden. They tell me to climb on top of this boxy wooden frame thing and balance there, while holding a potted plant with bright red flowers on top of a long stem. I do so. The people and I start singing a little song, the last line of which is, “I'll spontaneously combust!” I know that this is what will happen when I reach the end of the song, but I'm not afraid, because I know that that's how I'm going to get out of this place and back to the real world.

      Indeed, right before I reach the last syllable of the last word, I suddenly can't see anything, and I feel a sensation come over my entire body. It doesn't feel like being burned with fire, though;
it's the pins-and-needles feeling of random feedback from nerve endings. I find that I've woken up.
    8. injured mom and cars; art historian monkey researcher; gangs of kids

      by , 04-02-2011 at 02:09 PM
      Good morning, everybody.

      Dream #1

I was possibly with my brother and sister at night. It was pitch black outside.

We may have been driving a car around, possibly a black SUV. But we may have needed another car, which my mother may have had. We may have been angry or impatient with our mom because she wasn't bringing the car.

We got some call from or about our mom on one of our cell phones. Our mom was either sick or injured. I suddenly felt very worried and sad, but also ashamed that I could have been so impatient about my mom when she had actually been injured all along.

      Dream #2

I was with my friend H. We had been attending some kind of lecture. Now it was over. We were standing in some side room, off to the side of the lecture room.

The lights were mostly off in the lecture room and the side room. A little bit of fluorescent light seemed to be coming from somewhere else. The lecture room was kind of big and square, like a dance rehearsal area, but with low ceilings and full of folding chairs.

The side room was much smaller. It had something like two workshop tables in it. On each of the tables, long sheets of paper were rolled out, more than one sheet per table.

H and I stood in the side room with a white man with red hair and a red beard. The man was something like a professor. The man's hair was kind thinning back from his forehead. He may have worn blue jeans and a sweater with dull green, yellow, and red striped and designs on it.

The professor had given a lecture on something like Buddhist mandalas. The papers all rolled out on the table were Buddhist mandalas. But they were all laid face down.

H was talking with the professor, asking a few questions about Buddhist art. I got a little distracted from their conversation, and I was wandering around at the other end of the side room.

At some point H and the professor decided it was time to go. They started heading out the door and told me they were ready to go. For some reason I told them that I would just be a second, that I just needed to put my shoes on.

As he walked toward the door, the professor began telling a story, apparently directed toward me, about how he did research on certain monkeys using certain chemicals. The chemicals might often create certain blood conditions in the brain, like hemorraging.

The professor said, "Of course, the monkeys run around and play all happy. But they have no idea that if the chemicals make the blood conditions in their brains, I'll have to make them fall asleep." The professor then explained that he would then sell the affected brains to the researchers.

The professor and H had walked out a door, into the next room (a stairwell exit?) which was lit with fluorescent light. I stood there for myself for a second. For some reason, it took me this pause to realize that the professor was purposely infecting these monkeys, then killing them, cutting open their skulls, taking out their brains, and selling their brains to interested parties.

I may have tried to get the professor's attention (he and H were still within earshot) to ask him if this was really what he was doing.

      Dream #3

I was possibly walking back home. It was late afternoon and a clear day. The air was cool and pleasant, and the sunlight was dim, pale gold.

I turned left and walked down a sidewalk bordered by lawn. It seemed like I was either at the boundaries of some park, or possibly the lawn of a complex of very tall apartment buildings. The road, to my left, was wide, but it wasn't very busy.

The whole setting seemed very clean. But I wasn't familiar with it, and it didn't feel like my neighborhood at all.

Somehow I now needed to cross the street to get to the sidewalk on which I had already been walking. There were two black boys, about ten years old, one of whom may have been sitting on the metal housing for a transformer.

The kids saw me crossing the street. I passed the kids. One of the kids stayed where he was. The other kid kind of followed me. I had a feeling that the kids were going to try to jump me or steal something from me. But I wasn't too worried. The only thing I had with me was a CD version of Philip Glass' opera Akhnaten (why?).

The kid who was following me kept edging up, as if he were going to walk in front of me, then falling back. I just kept ignoring him.

But now I saw a big group of black kids walking down the street. The kids were maybe in their late teens. There were seven or eight of them -- enough to block up the entire walkway and small strip of lawn by the curb. The kids looked like trouble. So I decided to just cross the street right away, to get out of their range.

But, crossing the street, I saw a huge fence, maybe 6 meters tall, possibly bordering another lawn-type space. On top of that fence there sat an even bigger group of black kids. They were already looking at me, and they looked ready to jump down from the fence and attack me as soon as I passed them.

I veered to the right, to head back toward the road I had been on before turning onto this road. I could tell that that road was much more populated, and that a lot of cars ran down it. I figured it would be better for me to just hang out on that road and avoid these gangs of kids.

But, for some reason, I was really flustered that I had to do this. I felt like things hadn't been like this before, or like in the neighborhood I thought of as my neighborhood things weren't like this. I wondered why things were like this now or here.
    9. Traffic cameras?

      by , 03-30-2011 at 02:33 PM
Heading home from work. Traffic camera flashes. I kept cursing in my head. Making my way to a car workshop nearby, I parked close to the open entrance. I see my old friend working there. I instantly walked to a toolbox finding a worklight on it(on the left of the entrance), like if I knew it was supposed to be there. Im starting to look for my EVAP leak (which my car has in real life) while my friend keeps telling me to calm down about the speed camera.

At the car workshop there were many cars and workers, blue car lifted in the air to be welded from the bottom(on the right). Welding and putting the cars together. My friend was wearing yellow high-visibility t-shirt and blue pants. He sat on the driver's seat, left foot outside of the car

The road where the camera flashed is a real road and the camera was at the right spot, the workshop is not real for my knowledge.

I was doing 65kph on 50kph zone when camera flashed. The lights turned from green to red without showing the yellow at all. I drove the left lane, which was wrong lane if I was driving home.

AC DC was playing in the car, "If you want blood".

    10. reflecting on dream; driven by mom; friend and bed

      by , 03-29-2011 at 11:43 AM
      Good morning, everybody.

      Dream #1

I was with my family in some kind of parking lot in the mountains. It was early morning, with pastel blue and pale gold light of dawn and cold dew still coating everything.

The parking lot was set in two levels. But the levels were separated by a big hill. My motheer had driven me, my brother, and my sister here. We were apparently waiting for something else to happen before we left the parking lot.

But somehow I was now in another car, driving around in the upper parking lot while the rest of my family was driving around in the lower part of the parking lot. For some reason, I felt like this whole thing had been dreamt, and that I was now awake and out of that dream.

I rehearsed the elements of that dream in my head while I looked down at my family. My family drove past some kind of small path which had a little foot-bridge that went across a tiny stream.

      Dream #2

My mom was driving me through some neighborhood at night. My mom was probably taking me to the airport. But we ended up driving in some weird pattern that took us up into some totally wrong area and then back to where we'd started from.

My mom mentioned something about six hours, like it would take us six hours to get to the airport, or like my flight didn't leave for another six hours. My mom stopped at a fast food restaurant. I may have stayed in the car while she went in to grab the food.

      Dream #3

My friend H and I had been driven to some place by a man, possibly my old friend D. The place seemed to be a cabin or shack out in the middle of a huge lot of barren soil, possibly somewhere in the mountains. The sky was grey, and the air was chilly and damp.

H and I were in a bedroom in the cabin. We were in bed. We'd just arrived here, but the man was thinking of taking us out somewhere, either for a fun dinner or to pick up some stuff we needed. But now H wanted to have sex with me.

I was already laying on H, making sexual motions with her. But I told her we couldn't just up and have sex while the man was waiting outside for us.

I was now outside, by myself. I realized that H was still inside. The man was now somebody like H's old boyfriend, C. I realized that H could be mad at me for not having sex with her. She could end up convincing the man to have sex with her, just to spite me.

I was walking on some kind of line that had been drawn on the soil between the two cars. The line was a double-line, like the yellow lines in the center of a road.
    11. Meeting Karim and Receiving a Key

by , 03-28-2011 at 08:34 PM (The Lab Notebook)
Awake, Non-lucid, Lucid, [Commentary made while awake]

I wake up in my current room, go out to the kitchen, and start attempting to make coffee. The coffeemaker is big and complicated, with lots of buttons, and I can't figure out how to use it properly. While it's percolating, I decide to take the carafe out [I don't remember why], and press the Stop button, but it doesn't stop completely. Six thin jets of coffee continue to come out of it, streaming down onto the heating element and boiling and sizzling away. I look in the cupboard for breakfast, and find lots of mini-donuts and other packaged foods there. All the time I'm getting breakfast, my mind is on the fact that I have to get out of the house in time for my 8:00 A.M. meeting. [I actually had such a meeting coming up in the morning in real life, and it was on my mind as I went to bed, so, not surprisingly, I dreamed about it.]

I have another false awakening in which I check the time on my cell phone and see that it's only 6:17 A.M. Good; there's still plenty of time to get to the meeting.

I woke up, for real this time, at the end of a sleep cycle, and said sarcastically, “Well, that was wonderful.” I didn't bother to get up to check the time on my phone.

I'm on my college campus, walking around outside the dorm buildings, which are big and L-shaped and multistory. I'm trying to get to my room, which is room number 16999-A (that is, bedroom A in suite number 16999). I stop and talk to a resident assistant (RA), who asks me where I'm going. I tell him [her? not sure], and he [she?] consults a list and says that someone else is already in that bedroom. I know I'm supposed to be in that room, and I say so, showing the RA the key I have to that suite. He [she?] permits me to continue on and go to the room.

I continue walking, outside, among the dorm buildings. I pass another RA at the entrance to a new part of the complex of buildings, and speak to her as well. She tells me that there's a game of Sardines going on in that part of the complex, and offers me a raffle ticket, which shows that I'm participating in the game. I accept it and continue walking. I find the entrance to suite 16999, which is at the corner of the long, narrow building, on one of the longer sides. I stick my head in the door, but don't go in. [So I never did find out whether or not anyone else was in my bedroom.] All throughout this part of my dream, my mind is still focused on the fact that I have to make it to an 8:00 A.M. meeting.

I continue exploring around the sunny side of the building. There are basketball and handball courts there; it looks a lot like the playground of an elementary school. The sunlight is very bright and cheerful. On the other side of the courts from the building, there is a chain-link fence on the border of the playground. On the other side of the fence is a river.

Not far from the playground is a covered pavilion housing the queue for a tram that offers tours of the campus. It's the same kind of tram used at the parking lot at Disneyland. The tram passes through, setting out on its tour. A group of five students with ski masks on, their heads wrapped in white cloth, and dark sunglasses are walking alongside the tram. They're tour guides, and this is their on-campus job. They're holding a series of signs that say something like, “Be sure to pay your tram driver.” I wave at them as they pass, and they wave back. As the tram pulls out of the pavilion and drives away, a group of five or six people runs out of the queuing area, trying to catch up with the tram. They wanted to get on it for the tour, but they got there too late.

[Dreamskip.] I'm walking across a parking lot. I recognize that I'm dreaming, and that I've had this dream before. [Now that I'm awake, though, I don't remember having had it before.] I begin to concentrate on my feet, watching them move as I walk. I'm wearing dark red-brown, slip-on, closed-toed shoes with big bows on the toes that are made of the same shiny, leather-like material as the rest of the shoes. As I approach my car, I attempt to ensure that my computer backpack will be in the trunk when I get there by expecting it to be there this time. It doesn't work. Other stuff is in there, but no computer backpack.

Some guy starts talking to me as I look into my trunk. My boss is there, too. The other guy gives me a long, ornate, old-fashioned, brass key with a long, thin black string tied to the loop on one end. When he gives it to me, he says something like, “These instructions are very important. You must never let this item leave your possession.”

“Because it represents my soul?” I ask.

“It represents a lot of things,” he answers. I infer that my soul is one of those things.

[I don't remember the rest of the instructions, but they probably included the following information, because I do remember knowing it:] I understand that this key is a skeleton key. It's not just an ordinary skeleton key, either; it is magical and can unlock any door in the dream world.

That guy, my boss, and I go exploring somewhere else together. I use my key to unlock a door at one point. At another point, I ask that guy, “Do you have a name?”

      “Karim, or...” he begins.

“Karim,” I say. “Okay.” To me, the way he said “or...” after his name implies that he has many names, and I'm welcome to use any of them, but I just go with the first one he says.

Karim, my boss, and I are climbing a ladder up through a narrow shaft. I look up and am intimidated by how long the shaft is, but I can see the top of the ladder, far away.
[That's the last thing I remember from this dream.]

When my alarm finally went off, I was relieved that I was back in reality, and that there was still plenty of time to get to the meeting.

      ------------------------
      Side notes:

I don't remember having the high level of conscious self-awareness in this dream that I've had in past lucid dreams, but if I started trying to use dream powers, I must have known that I was dreaming. Also, when I was receiving the instructions about the key, I was definitely aware that the context to which those instructions applied was my dreams, which I was in.

Have I met my dream guide? I can't say for sure. I feel uneasy about it. What I can say is that I hope Karim and the key show up in future dreams.
    12. 2/2 Tue: Two More Weak Lucids

by , 03-23-2011 at 10:24 PM (One Must Imagine Sisyphus Happy)
Many dreams last night. Not using my paper journal so they are mostly lost.

      Weak Lucid 1
The dream is in black and white. I'm in bed and it's mostly dark. I fall through the bed into an empty outdoor space. I try a few times to teleport my blinking, snapping my fingers and clapping. Nothing happens. I look down.

Below me it looks like the open ocean or maybe a large grass field swaying in the wind. I can only see a strip of bright light illuminating the ground. It's like I'm on a helicopter about 30 feet above the surface with a powerful spotlight pointed at the dark way.

Next I'm wandering on the ground. It's like a desert. Still dark and still black and white. Ahead of me is a slight incline and at the top is an old rusted out car. The windows are doors are gone. Inside there is woman. I look closely. She's naked and inviting me in.
      Wake up.

      Weak Lucid 2
I'm in my room. It's dark and black and white again. I feel along the bed with my hands to increase my sensation of touch. I have difficulty moving. I look at the door of my room. Everything else fades away. I think to look around to regain the scene, but I'm afraid if I look away then everything will be gone. I imagine the door opening and someone coming in.

A woman walks through the door. She is naked. She climbs onto the bed in front my me. I keep my gaze on her and everything else seems black. I feel her thigh and kiss her lips. I pull back and she is gone.
      Wake up.

    13. Should've been Obvious

      by , 03-23-2011 at 12:22 PM
I was at a gas station getting gas when I realized I had no money on me at all. I panicked, because I had already pumped the gas into my car, $15.00 worth. On my way to tell the service people, I stopped, turned around, and said aloud, "Ah, I'm in a dream, I don't need to pay." and drove away. NEVER BECOMING LUCID!!!

    14. drawings and lectures; radioactive bullets; melissa etheridge video

      by , 03-21-2011 at 11:43 AM
      Good morning, everybody.

      Dream #1

I was at a table with an old friend. The table may have been wide. Possibly we were each actually sitting at two round tables. I was showing my friend some drawings. One of the drawings was of a tyrannosaurus being attacked from all around by a bunch of smaller dinosaurs, like velociraptors.

For some reason, I felt like I had unconsciously taken elements from a story my friend had written and put them into my drawing. I tried to explain to myself how I hadn't done that, and how my drawings were original.

My friend and I, still sitting at the table(s), were now at the back end of some audience watching a performance at some bandshell. It was night. My friend began telling me about a series of lectures. There were apparently ten lectures. They all had to do with the monolith (like from 2001). Each lecture took place in some different level of some location.

I saw the program for the lectures. Each lecture had its own page-long description. Each page was made to look like a blue night sky full of stars.

My friend tried to explain to me where the lectures were located. It was somewhere in New York City that I should have been pretty familiar with. I said the name of some place out loud. My friend looked at me, disappointed that my knowledge was so lacking regarding New York City that I would think that was the location he'd meant.

      Dream #2

A narrator spoke about some secret test performed by the military. A view showed a group of people like zoo workers releasing a rhinoceros into a lake in some kind of dusty, deserty area in the wild.

The rhinoceros walked out into the lake and began swimming. Once the rhinoceros was at a certain distance, one of the zoo workers shot something at it, right at the bridge of its nose. The narrator explained that this was a radioactive bullet that would penetrate the rhinoceros' brain.

The rhinoceros now looked more like a hippopotamus. The place where the bullet had entered didn't even have a scar. It was like the bullet had been extra small. But the hippo was already beginning to feel the effects of the radiation. It was getting incredibly angry. It started roaring and snorting.

As the hippo swam to shore, the narrator explained that the radiation was already beginning to eat away at the "rhinoceros'" brain tissue, making it uncomfortable and uncontrollably aggressive.

The hippo was now ashore. But it was now a gorilla. It lay on its back, roaring in anger and writhing. The narrator explained that now the "rhinoceros" was completely paralyzed. But the decay process in its brain would now slow down a lot. The rhinoceros would lay there paralyzed and decaying for forty days before it would finally die.

      Dream #3

I was watching some Melissa Etheridge video that was apparently from the 1980s. The song was a kind of post-war style song in a 1980s style. The video was very stagey, with a pinkish orange backdrop, before which different thin elements would shift back and forth, depicting scenes such as the home, the office, and driving.

The song and video all related to different girls Melissa Etheridge had been in relationships with. One scene showed Ethedridge at a computer (which may have been on the hood of a 1950s car) while a really pretty office girl fawned over her. But then a really pretty black girl came up and started kissing Etheridge. Etheridge and the black girl walked away. The office girl looked heartbroken.

In another scene, the office girl was leaning over the hood of a 1950s style car. A few other pretty girls were by this car and another car. Etheridge walked into the scene. All the girls were vying for Etheridge's love, but it was somehow implied that Etheridge wouldfall in love with the office girl.

I am with my mom in a car. It seems to be a European car because the driver's seat is
on the right. My mom is driving and I am sitting in the front passenger seat. We are
driving through the woods and we come up to a get with security guards. They come
up and she apparently has some sort of security clearance but she has to go park or
something so I have to get out and go ahead. I have clearance by inheritance. The
guards make me swear not to speak of this to anyone. I almost say "What if I just talk
about it but no details?" but I decide I best not. The next thing I remember, I am sitting
in the dining room of our house talking to my mom who is in the kitchen. She has
oatmeal but is not satisfied with it or something. I say to put raisins in it. She says
she had a bad experience with raisins ( a batch were bad or something ) and these
are fine but shes still wary of them. My dad then walks in and starts complaining about
work. He says how they don't clean the snow up well. He says that his boss is not
focusing her priorities that she is focusing on the paper clutter on desks and not the
      sidewalks.
      The dream ends.
