    1. to find the aura

by , 07-26-2011 at 03:28 PM (The book of mars)
i am at my father's brothers house (none of this is waking life true). we come here twice a year, once for christmas and once for a birthday.

its night time. i am inside with my two cousins and my half sister casey (fathers daughter). casey is an artist in this dream and is creating a 3D painted character on cardboard.

i do the same. everyone jokes about how ugly mine is, but casey and I know it is pretty good technical skills.

we go outside but casey stays inside. there are neighborhood kids out here doing something. we run around hills even tho we cannot see much.

suddenly, all three (me and two cousins) of our ankles get clamped with a metal chain to lock us onto the hill. we are prisoners of the neighborhood kids.

they come over and have this strange device. they ask each of us to find something to counter the spinning saw inside the device. if we don't counter it, it will saw thru our ankles.

we all somehow manage to find things to counter it. we put metal things in front of the saw so it goes thru that instead of our skin. i find a pair of scissors. there is plastic around the metal part but i say "dont worry i got this", which i do.

casey comes out and rescues us and shoos everyone off. i get in the car with her and my dad and we leave.

i realize that the entire dream is actually a short story in a magazine. i continue reading.

we drive to a big store. we get out and i never see my dad for the rest of the dream.

inside the store i meet up with a few other friends. at the store, there is a big prize counter in the center. everyone has a certain number of points, points = money to spend on the junk inside the counter. a few carnie people are running it.

i tell my mom to get me more paint with some of my points, and she gets me a set with the same color scheme as the one i used to make the character in the beginning of the dream. i ask for a refund and the carnie says no.

i ask my mom how many points i have left and she refuses to tell me. i dont want any of the junk here so i walk away.

i jump onto a cart loaded with soda cans. casey is pushing it and my friends are in it with me. we open all the soda at the same time and are propelled like by a rocket of de-pressurized soda thru the whole store.

casey and i leave with someone else. there is another group of stores across the parking lot.

while walking, i tell casey my idea: "i want to make a belt that begins at your shoe and comes up to yr pants vertically, on both legs and one small one in the middle." "that will make you look like you have a bulge" she says.

my feet are burning on the tar and i realize i have no shoes or socks on. i skip into the store and lose casey.

i want to find socks and the back door that i enter leads to the sock section. i find a pair i like and take them, but realize theres a worker here. she is with my friend chase.

chase is trying to buy a bra. he is claiming to want a sex change (he always makes ridiculous claims in waking life). i tell him to buy heather's size, 36 C. he puts it on his body and looks at himself in the mirror.

he is embarrassed because he still likes being a boy.

i forget about the socks and walk thru the store. i see casey on a small red pedal powered truck for a child. it says "looking for a friend". i run up to her and she laughs and pedals away. i see another red truck with someone in it. i realize the game is to find eachother in the store.

time warp. i hear casey saying, about the store i was just in: "we had three hard workers on duty today. thats the equivalent of 1000 pairs of sunglasses and 500 windows. how did we let this happen?" she was referring to a theft in the store.

i leave wherever i am at this point and end up in the original store. i see holden, my brother.

we talk about surfing and how i would really like to try it. he says he'd like to go on a trip to the west coast.

my dream turns into a long strip of pavement surrounded by 50 foot waves on both sides. most cars get taken by the waves before they can reach safety on the other side.

my sight follows a woman in a car like a tv show camera would. she is talking by herself, to the camera that is my consciousness.

she tells about how gay people come here to find their auras. someone/something asks what that is and she disregards. she parks her car and gets out.

this is a very brave act since the point of the area is to go as fast as you can to safety. to find the yr aura, you must park and risk yr life.

she steps onto a median which runs thru the whole road for about 200 feet. there are steps into a little pool on it.

she walks up the steps and says this is where the aura can be found.

      i wake up.

    2. Lost in the Airport (Night of July 10-11)

by , 07-24-2011 at 06:36 AM (The Lab Notebook)
[This is a catch-up post. These dreams are from the night of July 10-11, 2011.]

I'm in Sunday school, and we're playing a game-show-style game in which I am the lovely assistant. The contestant on the game show is creating a piece of ceramic art using a pottery wheel.

I'm in a large van that has stone benches instead of regular seats. The van is filled with good friends of mine, and we're watching something good on TV. The van morphs into an airplane, and I disembark.

The interior of the airport where I've landed is windowless, and the walls, floor, and ceiling are all a flat, industrial, dark gray color. The building has multiple, unequal, uneven levels with stairs leading from one to another. There is one very tangled staircase that takes you up, down, around, and across, turning several corners and going in several different directions, as you go from the bottom of it to the top.
[It doesn't loop, though; it has a beginning and an end that are on different levels of floor, but it also has a ridiculous number of convolutions in between that make no sense.] I walk this entire staircase, from beginning to end.

I'm walking around trying to find baggage claim, but I can't; I get lost. I'm carrying three plastic tokens, which I'm supposed to use to claim my bags. I pass a large bag inspection checkpoint, and another checkpoint specifically for people who are traveling with marijuana plants. There are lines of people waiting at both checkpoints. Each person in the line for the latter checkpoint is carrying either a marijuana plant, or some cuttings from one. They're not forbidden on flights, they just have to be inspected first. I also pass behind the back side of the security checkpoint.

I try to climb into an area full of junk. I meet a small boy who decides to follow me into the area.

[Separate dream.] P. and I [I think] are fighting over the scheduling of our showers and hair-drying. I apologize for the fact that I have to wash my hair every day because it's so hot. I try to rush through my shower.

      ----------------------------------------
      Side notes:
This night was my very first night in my new place of residence. When I woke up in my new room for the first time and recalled my first dream there, my reaction was, “Hmm. I got lost in a confusing place. That isn't very reassuring.”
    3. LD 4: Depressed Joseph Gordon-Levitt

      by , 07-21-2011 at 04:37 AM (Starr's Dream Collection)
      NON DREAM DREAM LUCID

A friend and I had decided to sign up for the Food Network show Chopped, which is like an elmination every week reality show for cooking. We both get onto the show and are very happy. Me and my friend (H) get on the bus, which will take us to the set of the show. H and I sit down, and we're surrounded by other contestants. We try to socialize with them, and found one girl to be really nice. I don't really remember much of her, who she was, or what she said, except that she had a very narrow face, olive skin, and dark brown wavy hair with bangs that covered a lot of her face. I remember looking at a brochure for Australia, which led me to realize that these contestants came from all over the world to compete on this show. Finally, the bus arrives at it's destination. H and I get off with all the other people to find us standing in a mostly empty parking lot. We see the hosts, but I don't really remember them too well. I'm standing there and listening as we are assigned our first challenge, when I suddenly come to horrifying realization.

      I can't cook.
In real life, I can make ice, and that's pretty much it. Even when it comes to simple things like trying to cook Kraft macaroni, I end up failing. Both times I tried to make it, I ended up making people sick...oops. Anyways, so that's when I come to the not so horrifying realization that I'm dreaming, thus making me lucid. Yay!

So, I ditch Chopped. I remember the other contestants mocking me and jeering at me for being such a baby and backing out before the show even started, but I ignore them.

Suddenly, I am somehow transported to a very modern looking mansion type office building. I see random DCs walking around, but I ignore them, too. I have a goal in mind. I find my friend N walking around, and I approach her. I ask, "Have you seen Arthur anywhere?" referring to my absolute favorite character from Inception, as portrayed by one of my favorite actors, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I figured that if I ask someone where he is, implying that I already know he's here, I'll be able to find him. Other methods, like trying to make people appear by summoning them with mind power, never work outs for me.

N says, "Yeah, I know he's around here somewhere. Just keep running down the halls and turn the corner, you should find him." We both set off running down a hallway, and right before we turn the corner, and outstretch my arms, because I really wanna give Arthur a hug.
(Don't judge, I'm a huge JGL fangirl, ok?) But instead, to my dismay, I turn the corner to find my old 7th grade English teacher wearing footsie pajamas. That image will never be erased. I keep running down that hallway, once more outstretching my arms. When I turn the next corner, I instead find my Grandma running towards us. As horrible as it makes me sound, I don't feel like hugging my grandma, so I disappointingly put my arms down again. I ask N, "Do these hallways just keep going and going?" and she replies, "Yep, pretty much."

Eventually and thankfully, though, I somehow manage to get out of the constant hallways, and I'm standing in this hotel-looking lobby. I enter a doorway, in which I find myself standing in a HUGE ballroom place, FILLED with people. I automatically know that these people are all celebrities, and if I'm going to find Arthur/JGL anywhere, it'll be here. I see a set of modern looking stairs that lead up to a platform, so I run up to get a good view of the crowd. It's obviously a very formal event, because all the men are wearing tuxedos, and every single woman is wearing a fancy, sparkly black dress. They're all talking and mingling very loudly.

Wanting to get their attention, I as loudly as I can yell out, "HEY! EVERYBODY QUIET!". It actually worked, and everyone turned up to look at me. "I'm looking for Joseph Gordon-Levitt," I shouted. Suddenly, I notice a figure beginning to walk away, only to be pushed back in place by a random group of people. It's JGL! Yay!

He begins walking again, towards the exit, wearing a rather awkward smile on his face. He obviously doesn't want to be here.

Oh, and he had facial hair. Don't know why that's important, it just is.

Anyways, my mom suddenly is standing by me, and she says, "Well? Go on and catch him!" I run down from the platform and down the stairs, chasing after him. He begins to run faster. Now we're out in the lobby. He still has that weird smile on his face, which was starting to get creepy. He sat down on a couch in the lobby, and he looked slightly upset. (Still smiling, though. Don't know how he managed that.) I found a random drink kiosk and decide it would be smart to buy him a beer, which cost $7. Geez. But he refused to take it. And he wasn't saying anything, so matter how much persisting and prodding I did. Man, he was stubborn.

Then, I "wake up." That's right, folks, I'm now in some sort of a false awakening. Except, in this "reality", I'm sitting on the same couch that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was just sitting on, and I'm hugging a water bottle. My best friend H is there, and she laughs at me for falling asleep in such a position. I tell her about the dream that I just had.

Then I actually wake up. But, being the lazy teenager that I am, I went back to sleep, even though it was probably already noon. Oh well.

I'm thrown straight into lucidity. This time, I'm in this strange indoor pool place, with lots of walls that you have to climb over to get to the pools. There are lots of scattered pools that are dark and murky, but I swim in them nonetheless. I remember swimming in this one pool, doing lots of spins underwater. I heard some man say, "Huh, I guess the water's not toxic, then." I'm pretty sure he was the manager of the place.

I get out of the water, and lo and behold, sitting on a couch by the edge of the pool, is Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Also, to my surprise, I had transformed into and older version of myself and I looked completely different. Usually in lucid dreams I have lots of difficulty changing my appearance, but this time, I didn't even try. I looked just like Sarah Roemer, an actress from a show I used to watch called The Event. Hmm, random.

Anyways, I walk up to JGL, who I know is supposed to be Arthur. He looks extremely depressed and lonely, and I automatically feel really bad for him. I guess I'm supposed to be his best friend, so I decide to go sit next to him. Turns out he has to apply for this design school and to do that, he needs to fill out an information card about him. He's too upset for whatever reason to fill it out himself, so I offer to do it for him. He gratefully accepts my offer.

I notice he has a picture with him. It's a picture of a little girl and a little boy dressed in their Halloween costumes, with the little girl dressed as a princess and the boy as a pirate. I realize it's supposed to be the both of us, and discover that I'm not his best friend...I'm his little sister.

      Crap.

I still have to fill out the info card, but I pretty much know nothing about him. Inception doesn't tell you much about our dear Arthur. But what kind of sister doesn't know these basic facts about their big brother? I really wanna play the part, though, so I stay cool. Eventually, there's a part on the card where I have to put down his age. Problem is, I don't know his age. I jokingly ask, "How old are you?" as if I was just messing around. He looks rather annoyed and answers very sarcastically, "Nine." He wasn't giving me a real answer. I put down '9' on the card...then he looks at me like I was crazy. "Why are you putting that down? I wasn't being serious. Put a '2' in front of that nine." I do, and say, "So...29?". He gives me a look that says, "Duh."

Then he starts shaking his head and says, "Can we just skip to the 'About Me' part? I'm getting tired of this." I do, and ask what he wants me to right. He shrugs, and mumbles "I don't know." I sigh. Obviously, Arthur here isn't gonna be very cooperative.

Somehow, we both get transferred to some school where he is giving a presentation on design to some kids. But, he's still really depressed. After the presentation, he just sits down in a chair, frowning, and he's not talking again. Perfect.

All the kids, who I realize are kids that I go to school with, start clapping for him, including me. Hey, I'm not gonna be an un-supportive sister. Then, the kids walk up to him and start trying to make him move, by waving in his face and stuff. He's not having it, though. He looks pretty spaced out. I catch of glimpse of his face through the mob of kids around him, and you can just see the pain and sadness in his eyes. It was pretty intense.

Now I'm not Sarah Roemer anymore. I'm my regular self. I realize one of my best friends J is standing next to me. She asks, "Wait, why is he so upset and stuff?" I just shrug and say, "I don't know. I'll just ask him on the car ride home." She nods at this apparently perfectly acceptable answer.

One girl I know, M, starts poking her finger in his face. Then...he sneezes on her, causing everyone to start cracking up, and, guess what! He actually smiled! So much for the seriousness of the dream. Oh well.

I'm transferred to another part of my dream, and I'm no longer lucid. Sad, sad. Anyways, I guess I'm at school, but it's my old elementary school. Class is about to start, but I could not for the life of me find my locker or remember my next class. I was completely confused. I start walking down the hallway towards a random classroom, where I find a teacher who I vaguely recognize. She asks me to help her with some classroom chores, and I comply. When I try to explain to her that I can't remember my next class, she ignores me.

Then, the assistant principal walks up and stands in the doorway. I try to tell him that I don't know where I'm supposed to go, but he just says, "Oh, that's too bad," in a kind of joking manner. Which I can totally picture him doing in real life, by the way.

The dragon has risen from its slumber. I wake up, completely intrigued by the awesome dream I just had. When I think back to that last little part of the dream, I keep picturing Rebecca Black, so I'm pretty sure she was somehow involved. God, I hope she wasn't singing.

Also, on a side note, I feel very achieved. I've transformed my appearance, hung out with a celebrity, and lucid dreamt somewhere other than my house, which were all personal dream goals of mine. All in all, it was a definite success. Yay!

    4. Coca-Cola factory

by , 06-29-2011 at 08:12 PM (Brainy Vapours)
I am working in a warehouse. I stock the coke shelves. The shelves are equipt with rolling cylinders on an angle. The boxes that I put into the shelves roll to the other side for customers to take. There must be a store on the other side of the shelves. The stock seems to constantly deplete, so I am busy filling it up as fast as I can. As I am stocking I wonder if we get free coke, and If i will get muscles from lifting boxes.

Finally it's the end of the day, and all the other workers are done and it's closing time. I finish my work a bit late, at 21:15, then leave. I am in an unfamiliar place, just walking the streets trying to figure out where home is. Well, it's not completely unfamiliar. There is a sense that I used to know this area but it must have been a long time ago. I walk for quite awhile in what I hope is the right direction. I run into a co worker and he asks me why I am "Down here" (in this area of town). I guess that means I went the wrong way. He asks if i would like to go for coffee. I agree and feel somewhat chuffed as we wander into a shop, getting in line. His girlfriend is there, they hold hands. I feel awkward, like a third wheel. She's yammering on about something, nervous. I guess I've made her uncomfortable.
    5. First WILD + First DEILD Chain, same night!

      by , 05-31-2011 at 12:06 AM
      Another oldie.

      Dream Goggles (1/07/2011)

I woke up in the middle of night. I think it was about 4am, but anywho. I had taken a bit of B6 and B12, and went to sleep. I awoke with no recall, but felt wide awake. Since I had nothing else to do that day, I decided to stay up. I made a cup of coffee and played Elder Scrolls: Oblivion for about a half hour. I suddenly got incredibly tired, despite the coffee and decided to go back to bed.

I wasn't exactly trying to WILD, but ended up monitoring my thoughts anyway as I fell asleep. I imagine that's why it worked so well (caffeine probably helped.) I was pretty much watching HI of Oblivion, going through one of the caverns and fighting shit, etc. I slipped in and out of consciousness a few times.

Finally, I found myself in total darkness. It sorta felt like floating. I imagined myself floating up. It began as a sort of "tug" but then I was launched up with incredible velocity and found myself lying in my bed. I got out and looked around. I was astounded. I'd never had dreams this vivid, or this accurate. My room was precisely as it was before I fell asleep!

I slipped out the window, and began climbing down the hill of my house and my vision started blacking out from the edge, as it often does. On impulse, I pulled down a pair of goggles that I just "assumed" would be there, and my vision was back. However, everything was covered in snow, and instead of the town, there was a futuristic city. I walked down to a building that had a radio tower on top, and a helicopter went by as I jumped down. I realized at this point that there was low gravity, so I moon-jumped down the street

I remember hopping down to a massive drainage pipe, and I found a dead body, with a cigarette nearby, blood on the filter. I was about to investigate, but woke up. I managed to DEILD, and found myself in a void again, and got tugged back up into the dream world.

Part 2: It took me two more DEILDs, as I kept losing the dreams to blackness, nearly waking. But...finally I was back in my bed again, but things were different. it was a combo of the room from my house, and from my dorm room. I was in a bunk bed, which wasn't right, and knew I was dreaming.

I hopped down and ran into the living room. My mom was there, and said " glad I didn't have to wake you up again." I ignored her as I noticed that the kitched was different, but I promptly left through the living room door and walked down to the road at the bottom of the hill I lived on. I saw a small red cabin and headed for it. There was only one room, and my aunt and cousins were there, and my grandma was sitting on the porch. (mind you, there was no cabin IRL at the road)

My lucidity faded out and I was observing myself pointing a gun at my dad in the cabin, but I left, with my cousin following me, and my lucidity returned! We walked past the cabin and there was a series of wooden steps leading up a cliff/hill and I jumped up flights at a time. I approached my cousin to speak to him, as he was ahead of me, but I heard a strange beeping...unfortunately, it was my alarm. As soon as I realized it, I woke up...
    6. The "Meet the Royalty Cruise"

by , 05-29-2011 at 06:18 PM (Brainy Vapours)
I am on an ornate cruise ship that is designed for common people to meet with royalty. I am with a friend of mine that looks like a girl I used to know in highschool. We are all stood around in lines in our finest gowns, waiting for one of the royals to walk by and pick from us whomever they are interested to meet.

Some sort of prince goes by me and I am not picked. I am not really surprised at this as I feel rather old compared to most of the others. As this round is over we are told to move up to the next level, which is actually up a few floors. Here we are sat down in what looks like theatre seats. Again, a royal starts working his way down the line. For some reason I decide this is a good time to put cream on my legs as they are feeling dry. The cream has a look and texture similar to chocolate pudding. I get it done just in time.

I think I must have been picked because now only a few of us are leaving the group to go up a few more floors. Here, in a line again, we are faced with a young girl. She goes through each of us, first tapping us on the shoulder then pulling us forward, mocking us and laughing. She thinks we're pathetic. When she does it to me, I laugh too. She picks me.

I'm pulled forward into a space in front of the crowd and I see the royals. It's more like one prince and his friend/servant/advisor. He's sat beside the prince and he looks very bored. He frustratedly tells us that we should "dance or something", so we do, and he likes how the girls dance sexy. Suddenly it's over and the royals are whisked away.

It's time to get off the cruise ship, to find our train, but I don't know where my son or friend is. I start going down levels, searching. I am questioning whether it was level 9 or 7 that I was originally on. Some random guy is trying to help me but it's slow going. He's asking people if they have seen my friend. We come across this crowd and someone tells me to watch out, there is a massive spider on the wall nearby and they know how I am terrified of spiders. I see what they are pointing at, it's a bubble of fabric on the wall that is moving in an irregular way. It frees itself from the wall and I see it's really just a leather jacket. I tell them their mistake.

A massive gorgeous moth lands on the floor suddenly and someone grabs it. S/he starts breaking pieces off of it like it's made of some sort of brittle taffy and handing the pieces out. I freak out at the cruelty of this, but there is no reaction so I move on.

I go into a lift and down another floor. There is a frustrated couple in there with me, trying to get to their floor. I finally find my son and ask him where his Papa is. He says Papa is by the car, and I ask him where the car is. He just says "down", so down we go in search of him. The car is parked in some of the many decks below, rather like a ferry. I am overwhelmed with the idea of searching blindly for it.

Zombified friends, getting late and giving healings. (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I was going to the mall to meet some friends, one of them was Alex (yes, from DV), and a couple more were friends from Magic The Gathering. However, all these friends were zombies.

The mall was huge and it was like a maze, so I was hopping I could find them fast. I was going to park near to it, as this mall was located in downtown. After parking and getting out from my car, I found out the streets were packed. I found it funny because it was late at night. I entered one of the malls.

The mall had several stores, but I felt I would find them. I texted them that I was going to get a few minutes late. I was going to make it at 10:02 PM, and I was supposed to make it at 10:00 PM.

I kept walking through the mall but could not find them. The stores were small and there were a ton. I wanted to call my wife, but the battery of my cell phone was totally dry.

I started to worry and walking around. A few moments later, my cell phone worked again and my wife told me I had to go by a store called, "Body Happy" I realized I recalled how to get there. I exited the mall in an interior parking lot, but I walked through it and entered other lot.

I got a text and my friends told me they needed to leave. As I was going to find them, I found some healers that were working with people in the middle of the mall. They invited me to help them to give healings to people, so as my friends left, I felt like it.

While I was giving healings, one lady smoking started to talk with me when I woke up.

      MMA Fights (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I was in some place about fighting, possibly the MMA or some boxing place. The place was huge. There were big locks and chains. There were some training devices that were like videogames.

The screen was about 50 inches and it had several cameras. You had to fight (for real) with a guy and the device would say how good or bad you performed. I realized I am not a fighter but a more spiritual person. However, I wanted to give it a shot.

Some slender guy who was taller than me approached and got read to fight me. I was not afraid as I knew how to deal with tall people. This guy threw me a kick so I grabbed his leg and swept his other leg. As he fell to the ground, I fell on him, elbows first to do extra damage on his face, however, for some reason I hit his ribs. I started to punch his face, right, left, fight, left... His face was not damaged, but he fainted due the pain.

I was excited because I was going to be respected if I won two fights in a row. A friend congratulated me and told me my next opponent was coming up. Another male, who was African American approached at me. He looked very strong and sharp. My friend told me, "This one does not talk! Watch out!"

The fight was more like an MMA fight, the both of us got hit. Suddenly, this video game beeped indicating that we both were about to loose. I started to hit him stronger, but he blocked all my attacks when he hit me once. I was up for more, but the system told I lost. I could see some status indicating our damage. The other guy was 99% damaged. I was a little pissed as I almost won, but ended up loosing.

I went outside and told about this to a friend. My friend told me it was a strong one and that it was very good for me that I almost beat him.

I had a FA in my room and went ahead to write the dream now. The clock of the microwave was blue instea of its regular color.
I turned lucid and decided to go for a flight. I got out from home and started to fly, however, I realized that my previous dream was too long to start a new one, so I wanted to wake myself up to write it down and then, induce a LD.

I had another FA in my room. I went to my microwave and instead of the time it had └■ [COLOR="#DC143C"]I felt a little annoyed because I did want to wake up, and opened the microwave assuming it would not lit up, it did not. I woke myself up again.

    9. Movies and Crime

I was locked in a room where they had public movie screenings, but I knew someone was stealing the movie footage. I finally located a yellow cord running from the display screen to a black device in the back of the room that was recording the footage it aired. I ran and got a security guard who happened to be this guy Dave from my work. He came in and we took apart the device. But then criminals who set it up barged in. We did our best to fight them off. They left and locked us in the room again with a black suitcase they left behind. I knelt down and opened it and discovered it was a bomb with 25 seconds to detonation.

At that moment I realized I'd had this happen in a dream before so I needed to remember which wire to pull out like last time. Dave had turned into Benjamin Linus from LOST and he came over to help. I thought it was the blue one and so did he. He yanked the blue wire out and it shut off. We were both relieved and I gave him a big hug for saving us.

    10. 03/17/11 Lost in Ruins

by , 03-18-2011 at 12:25 AM (New Dream Adventures of Raven Knight)
Plan: Night 3 of my MILD challenge, when I fell asleep last night I was wishing I could do something to help with the disaster down in Japan, things are such a disaster down there... I don't even have money to donate... I was thinking if I could just AP a lot better than I could use that ability to find survivors, even to find those who have passed so their loved ones could have closure. I was focused on that, and I had a lucid dream where I did just that. It felt like my consciousness was jumping from one animal to another and searching for survivors...

I am in a different place, I am lucid, but I'm not in Japan, which is what had been on my mind when I fell asleep. Instead I am on the moon, and Nomad is there with me. He says he thinks some of the people from other worlds that we are in contact with such as Washu, Q, etc. can possibly manage to communicate with the people trying to keep the nuclear power plant in Japan stable… if they can manage to communicate, maybe they can help. I tell Nomad I really wish there was something I could really do to help… He says all we can do is try. We teleport to the nuclear plant, along with the people I mentioned who are going to try to help, there are somewhere around 180 men and women rotating in and out of the plant, sea water is being brought in to cool the reactor core, radiation levels are high. Washu says the right kind of energy field can help neutralize some radiation… which is also energy… though it won't help if there is a meltdown… there doesn't seem to be a lot I can do there.

So now I am in a city, or what's left of a city. The place is a complete disaster, it looks like I was completely wrong about there being even a vague chance of finding anyone in that place who is still alive. I am having feelings of hopelessness, but since I am non-corporeal right now, I go ahead and phase through some of the rubble to look farther underneath it. More destruction… solid rubble… just a total disaster.

The dead, I only spot a couple of bodies, but there are spirits of those who have passed being drawn to me since I am in a form similar to them but still connected to a living body. They are lost and confused, some don't even seem to realize they're dead. I try to tell them they need to move on to the next world, some do so, others don't want to admit they're dead, and still others don't even believe in another world after this one. I find a survivor. Now what? She is trapped, unable to move, too weak to make much sound. I find a short way to the surface. After a short look I find a rescue dog and enter the dog's mind, a friendly dog, a good dog wants to help. The dog and I guide a rescuer back to the trapped woman. Perfect! I can get the animals to help! I enter a bird and harass a rescuer until he finally follows me to a some trapped animals that are still alive.

As a kitten, I lead a rescuer to a man and his daughter who are trapped, drawing attention with plaintive mews. Still as a cat, I find a woman buried in rubble. I can't find anyone to help, she is so deep down… and hurt too badly. All I can do is stay by her side and purr… she seems to find some comfort in the kitty beside her purring… the kitty is also crying…

    11. Emo over a Figure Skater

I've just had a job interview and now I'm at a kind of house party, which looks like it's confined to one room. There's some questionable stuff going on, and I tell them I'm not down with it, I'm not into that. I think it's going to be cool, after that but not so much. They look really put out and take me to the bus station. They ditch me there, even though it's not a familiar place to me, and take off.

I get some sort of general idea where my bus is going to be departing from when I hear the platform and arrival of the bus announced through the station. I race to that platform only to find the bus is not there. I run all up and down the platforms looking for the bus that should be here somewhere. I then see it leaving. Someone tells me I should run after it, but I know they won't open the doors after they've left the stop, so I don't bother.

I begin wandering around the station aimlessly looking for the right platform for the next departure. I sit down in some kind of lounge and watch the big screen tv they have there, it's broadcasting the performance of a very special figure skater. She lands a perfect triple toe loop followed by some sort of Lutz, and I absolutely melt down because I'm so happy and overcome with emotion as she does (This is strange as I am NOT a figure skating fan, and for a split second in the dream I wonder how I have all this knowledge and passion for skating, but it passes quickly). My phone rings and I pick it up, trying to compose myself. It's the interviewers. They were interviewing me for the position of Coordinator for the skater I was just watching. They tell me I have the job. They say they were watching me over CCTV and saw my reaction to the skater's performance and deduced that I would be the perfect choice to work with her.
I am so happy I begin melting down again and the dream ends.
    12. grocery store kids; bon appetit, Marilyn Monroe; lost and lucid

      by , 03-11-2011 at 12:46 PM
      Good morning, everybody.

      Dream #1

I was in a huge grocery store. At some point I was in the produce section. A boy and girl and possibly one more child, all siblings, stood at some stand displaying apples or some other kind of fruit. One of the children may have been writing on a piece of paper that was resting on the apples.

      Dream #2

I was in a dim room that was full of people. The place was like a club mixed with a museum. I sat on a really low chair or sofa made of red leather.

A bunch of little kids would come up and sit with me. They didn't know me. They just thought I was interesting. I was kind of flattered. A few of the kids were Asian. Their dad was nearby, looking at paintings and talking to people. One of the Asian kids looked like an old person. He had longish hair, but he was balding on top.

I and one little boy were now watching what was supposed to be Gentlemen Prefer Blondes on a video screen in the floor. The screen was about the size of a small TV screen.

In one scene, Marilyn Monroe walks into a fountain at night. She was apparently naked, and she apparently said "bon appetit," though I did't hear or see any of this. The boy asked me what bon appetit means.

I tried to explain to the boy that it didn't mean anything bad. The scene now replayed itself. I thought, there's no way Marilyn Monroe was naked in this movie. They wouldn't have allowed it!

Marilyn now walked into the fountain, which was an enormous pool of water at the foot of a staircase before a huge building. She was wearing a thin, body-length dress. The soaked dress became kind of, but not extremely, see-through.

Marilyn now swam up to the camera, which was positioned at the side of the huge fountain, and said "bon appetit."

Now all kinds of weird blue and green digital drawings blotted onto the screen like crude versions of fireworks.

      Dream #3

I was walking home at night. But somehow I had lost my way. I was walking through some kind of suburban neighborhood. I would turn down streets and think I was finally in the right place. But then I'd see I was still in the wrong place.

At one point I got to a streetcorner which looked exactly like a streetcorner near my house. But it was completely empty, and the buildings were all shut down and featureless, maybe even windowless. I wondered what had happened to my neighborhood. But I suddenly realized this wasn't my neighborhood. The buildings I was looking at were part of some huge hospital.

I turned around and walked another way. I was now in the parking lot of some area like a church. I felt like I might not even have been in the right borough. I turned to walk out of the parking lot. I grabbed my phone, which was my old phone, to try to get an idea of where I was.

I wondered how I'd gotten so lost. It didn't seem possible. I thought, Maybe I'm dreaming. I didn't think it was possible, but I tested myself anyway. I jumped up into the air to see if I could fly. I began floating a little bit. So I was dreaming.

I couldn't control my flight. I was floating backwards. I managed to get floating forward, about 3m off the ground. I was coasting through some suburban neighborhood. I still didn't know where I was. I told myself, You can't see where you are because it's dark. If this is your dream, then make it light.

So I made it light outside. But the world suddenly got very blurry.

I was now floating down toward something. I thought I had woken from my dream. I floated past one of my co-workers, C, who was giving some self-important lecture about something.

I was down in the frozen food section of some grocery store. I was looking at some children's picture book or some piece of paper on which I'd scrawled some stuff. I was still thinking to myself what a disappointment it was that I'd woken from my lucid dream.
    13. Lost all damn night

      by , 03-04-2011 at 01:32 AM (* The Sandman's Dream Journal o/***)
I was on a subway with my cousin who lives in Florida in waking life. She was in another car and I was trying to make my way to her from the neighboring car.

Someone gives me a map of where we are going. The paper has figures that are supposed to resemble the maps on the Marta trains, but instead are handwritten abstractions: circles with an "L" in the middle and then a 1. (OK, so there is an "L1" stop. Is that like "Left 1"? There were other markings, but they weren't clear in my dream.

I decided to just try to open the doors between cars to make my way to my cousin. As I forced the door open, someone started pushing them back closed. Kind of pissed me off. I finally got them opened and made my way through to the next car.

I looked outside the train car and saw tracks that went below a recent flood line. That was kind of disturbing.

The next I remember, I am being threatened by some criminal types. They are demanding all my money. I have a lot, but I tell them no, throw down a $20.00, kicked a couple of them and ran away. My brother was there and he stayed.

So, I ran away and found myself trying to find my way home. I was going through the shops in this little downtown entertainment district. I am lost in a maze of shops and courtyards. I end up with my mouth full of something that I need to spit out.

I go through this bar and find myself between two sets of two guys who are ultimate wrestling. I'm just trying to get by. One of the guys in front of me picks up his opponent and slams him down on his head. It would have broken his neck. Then the guy wants to wrestle me. I make my way around him.

I'm finally able to spit the stuff out of my mouth. I spit out a bunch of nastiness. Then some other guy spits out two balls of something and a fried egg. I spit out some more stuff and now my mouth is empty. (WTF?)

Finally I am in a marble courtyard. It is made up of square designs with steps. It is a complex architectural design. It was very pretty, but I didn't know how to get out.

I don't remember anything after that.

    14. Dreams from the past two nights

by , 03-02-2011 at 06:37 PM (The Lab Notebook)
Non-lucid, Semi-lucid, [Commentary made while awake]

      Night of February 28 - March 1

Some restaurant is having some kind of promotion where you can enter a code into an ATM and get money out. I walk out of the restaurant and across a parking lot to get to the ATM. I'm dressed in my pajamas, robe, and slippers, and am glad I'm wearing my rubber-soled slippers, because the parking lot is wet because it has just rained. I get to the ATM, enter my code, and receive a $5 bill, then a $1 bill, then a bonus $5 bill. There's also some loose change in a change dispenser on the [extremely strange-looking] ATM, and I start taking some of it for myself, but it occurs to me that I shouldn't take all of it, because that would be greedy.

      Night of March 1 - 2

I'm playing PackRat and find several sets of 10 tickets by flipping over cards.

My mom is driving on a main road through an unfamiliar town, and I'm in the back seat. She's trying to find her way to someplace, but she's obviously lost. We turn left onto a residential street. Finally, I ask her for the TomTom, and she hands it to me. It's getting dark out, and I can't see the device's screen very well, so I reach up to the ceiling of the car to turn on the overhead lights. They turn on for a second, then fade away. Pressing them again does nothing.
[I laughed out loud when I recalled this upon waking up and realized what I'd done. Once again, dream sign fail!] I complain to my mom that I keep pressing the wrong buttons when trying to enter the address of the place we're going to, because it's getting dark, the TomTom doesn't emit enough of its own light, and now our dome lights don't work. After a few minutes, though, when it's gotten fully dark outside, the buttons light up in bright red and white, so that I can see each letter and number clearly. [The TomTom doesn't do that in real life; my cell phone does.]

I walk into the bedroom I stayed in when I was living in Kentucky. [It didn't look much like that bedroom actually looked, but the bed was the same, I think.] I remark to whoever else is in the room with me, “I haven't been here in a while. It's the same. This is a good thing.” When I say that, I'm remembering dreaming about this place before [although I don't remember doing so now]. I get into the bed, and the two cats who live in the house jump up onto it and start walking all over me. I just lie there, quietly appreciating my mind's ability to generate the totally realistic but imaginary sensations of cats walking on me and the tips of their tails tickling my face. [No, I don't own any cats in real life, but there really were two cats in the house in Kentucky.] Even though I know that this is just a dream, I never make the logical leap from that fact to “I can go off and do whatever I want!” and never become fully lucid. [I'm still counting this as a lucid dream, though.]

    15. 02/22/11 Sleep In, Club Concert, Where's Draco?

by , 02-23-2011 at 01:59 AM (New Dream Adventures of Raven Knight)
Plans: The only plan I had made for today was to meet up with MoSh in a Hogwarts dream, though I really want to increase my lucidity and get my recall back to its normal rate. I really wish I knew why I have been having so many problems with that lately…

      Sleep In
It is time for me to go to bed, I have no idea that I am actually already in bed and dreaming. I am getting ready to lie down in bed when my mother comes into the room and asks me when I am going to be up the next morning. I tell her I'll probably be up at the usual time, of course. My mother says she wants to get going sooner than that. I don't remember where we are planning on going, but I am thinking it is somewhere really fun, and I definitely don't want to miss getting to do it. I tell my mother maybe I could get up a bit earlier than normal… My mother points at the clock and says it's only 11:30 at night, so if I sleep until my normal time, I'd be getting 12 hours of sleep! She says I really don't need to get 12 hours of sleep, do I? I agree that 12 hours is probably overdoing it, I tell her I'll get up around 10 instead, so it will only be around 10 hours of sleep. She seems to think this is still quite unreasonable, but she sighs with exasperation. She says if I can manage to get out of bed a bit sooner, please do, she really doesn't want to wait that late and might just end up leaving without me. This idea makes me a bit nervous, so I decide to set my alarm for 8:00 in the morning and settle for the usual 8 hours of sleep that is the recommended amount. I fall asleep in bed without even considering doing a RC at any point.

      Rock the House
I am going to a concert that takes place in a small club. There aren't that many people there to see the band, and I figure that is because the band rather sucks. There are overly aggressive bouncers guarding the stage, maybe they are afraid someone will attack the band members for sucking so bad. One guy tries to get to the stage, though it looks like he is happy and wants to meet one of the band members rather than like he is hostile. Apparently someone likes the music. One of the bouncers grabs him, punches him hard in the gut, then drags him outside as he is gasping for breath. The bouncer throws him to the ground and shuts the door before returning to his post. Wow… so violent… everyone else sits down in the seats to keep from having the bouncers attack. I really don't like this. On a hunch I do a RC and find out I'm dreaming. I fly from my seat and phase through the ceiling of the club, out into the open blue sky.

Ok, so now that I'm lucid, I need to decide what to do. I don't remember my goals… damn… but I do remember that in some of my lucids my dream control hasn't been as strong as it should be. So I fly over the city and start practicing my dream skills. I discover that anything I can focus on and visualize I can create. Of course I can, I am inside my own inner world… it is entirely under my control… I do things such as alter the forms of a couple buildings, I bring a statue to life. It is the statue of a horse that is about 50 feet tall, the horse gallops away, freaking out all of the DCs in its path. I instinctively can tell that all of the people around there are DCs rather than real people. I fly over a park and spawn a huge and beautiful tree with large golden fruits growing on it, I pick one and eat it… it tastes like chocolate. Yay! Chocolate flavored fruit! A DC is beside the tree and staring at me with his jaw on the ground, it is an older man, I fly down over him and tell him if he's going to have his mouth hanging open, put something yummy in it! I break off a piece of the fruit and stick it in the man's mouth where he doesn't even seem to notice it. I decide to go back to the concert to see if I can make it more interesting. I head back, and I find that for some reason there is now an iron grid around the club… where did that come from? No matter. I focus a circle of heat to soften the iron, then I rip out the circle of iron to create an entrance. Wow, that was easy! Inside, the same band is still sucking, most of the crowd have left. I use a puppet kind of control on the band members, my DCs, and I summon a guitar and join in. Now we rock! We play a song I don't think I have ever heard. But there's no one there to see it. I summon some more DCs to be the audience. For some reason the DCs that appear are dressed as if for a wedding. Weird… but no matter. I continue using the band DCs to accompany me as I play guitar and sing. It is fun.

      The Perfect Storm
I am in a castle like the one in Harry Potter, I am in Hogwarts. There are people around me, everyone seems to be rather huddled together, though I'm not sure why. They have everyone crammed into the great hall, all of the people from all of the houses, and this is creating more than a few arguments amongst the less friendly students. Mostly everyone is keeping to themselves, however, and the talk is mostly about a storm. I listen to some of them, then I go over to a window and look outside… and there sure is a storm out there, it looks like a serious blizzard. The wind is howling outside and looks like it must be blowing at hurricane force. I look beside me and I see MoSh is there. I ask what is going on out there, he says it's a major storm. No shit, Sherlock… I say it seems strange, where did it come from? MoSh says no one is sure, it is the worst storm Hogwarts has ever seen, and it came out of nowhere. The temperatures in most of the castle have plummeted to sub zero levels, there is no way the fires and such can keep things warm at all. The great hall has been placed under an enchantment to keep it warm, which is why everyone is here. Wow… that is one serious storm. I wonder if the storm is definitely natural.

I wander around the room more, I see Crabb and Goyle near another window, staring out, apparently fixated on something out there. That gets my curiosity up so I go over to them and ask what they are looking at. Crabb said nothing, they are looking for Draco. I ask why they are looking out there for Draco, shouldn't he be in the great hall with everyone else? Goyle hesitates, Crabb says they're not supposed to tell, Draco said it's a secret. I say I won't tell anyone, so go ahead and share it with me… I'm sure Draco wouldn't mind if I know. Finally Goyle says Draco went outside about an hour ago, before the storm got so bad, and he hasn't come back. Crabb said Draco had been going out to get something to do with the tournament task, but students aren't supposed to go into the forest… and he hasn't come back. Wow… Draco is out in the storm? I decide I have to go out to get him. Goyle says I promised not to tell… I ask how they can keep that secret when Draco could die out there? I add not to worry, I don't need to tell anyone… I'll go get Draco myself.

I go to leave the room, but McGonagall stops me and says no one is to leave the room. I had thought that might be an issue. I go to the other side of the room and find a secret passage behind a suit of armor, the passage leads outside eventually. And it is freezing out, though it doesn't feel as bad as MoSh had indicated. Then again, I am used to the cold pretty well. I wrap myself in some cloaks I find near the exit and head for the forbidden forest. There is no point in calling Draco, the wind is much too loud. The sleet and snow is like needles against my face, not comfortable at all, but definitely bearable. Once I get to the forest I find there is a bit of shelter, I look around, not sure where to find Draco. Somehow my instinct guides me, and after I have traveled a short distance, I find Draco huddled under a particularly large tree. He has his robes pulled tight around him, but those do no good… they are soaked from the sleet. I have seen movies and read books about arctic survival… wearing wet clothes is worse than none at all in the cold… and I have enough cloaks around me to share… So I start getting Draco out of the wet robes, he seems too out of it to respond much… I wrap my cloaks around both of us, keeping him close to share some body heat as we head back to the castle and into the passage I left through.

McGonagall meets us just a short way in, she says if I thought she didn't know about this passage, I was sorely mistaken… how dare I go outside and risk my… she sees Draco with me… good lord, what happened here? Where did you find him? I answer with the first thing I can think of, I say he was outside looking for herbs and hadn't gotten inside before the storm started. True, but I didn't mention the forbidden forest. McGonagall looks at Draco, mostly naked and shivering under my cloaks, she asks if he didn't hear the storm warning, or if he didn't take it seriously… he should really have listened… but save that for later. She asks for me to help her get him to the hospital wing. We get Draco to the hospital wing, where another spell has been cast for warmth, and put him into a bed to be cared for by Madam Palmphrey. Outside the hospital wing McGonagall says that my going out in the storm alone was very foolish, why hadn't I told someone, told a teacher that Draco was outside? But it was also very brave… she doesn't know whether to punish me for leaving the castle in this storm or reward me for bringing Draco back safely… so she will do neither. She says to get back to the great hall through the hidden passage and no one will know I had left, or at least they wouldn't hear it from her. I head back to the great hall.
