      Drinking Twix
I'm in a grocery store the resembles Target, near one of the aisles.
I see a woman carrying a pop bottle that is larger than standard, but smaller than a two liter.
      It is Twix-flavored Sprite.
I say "WOAH WHAT KIND OF FLAVOR IS THAT?!" and she offers to let me try it.
      It's actually pretty good.

    2. Zombies. Breathing out candy.

by , 05-26-2021 at 08:12 PM (DJ of lucid goals and how it goes)
The environment is dark colored and I'm with a party of grown ups. I'm able to choose a companion that will help me out and I scroll through the selections. They are all grey looking and pretty boring but with different shapes. One is formed as an egg, one is a bit scary, one is looking very tired. I look at about 15 of them until I am interupted. A party member's zombie is eating her up. The zombie is streching its mouth really much so that the whole head fits in its mouth.

I'm in my brother's bed and I'm sick. Every time I breathe out a green round rubbery candy with white powder on it rolls out. Some older people from the last dream walks in. They are telling me I have some kind of disease and they seem a bit disgusted. I taste one of the candies and they are pretty good.

Notes: I hid in my brother's bed yesterday.

I notice it's a dream and fly up. I hit a cloud wall and fly through it. I keep on flying and hit another cloud wall. I keep on flying and see the third cloud wall but the dream becomes unstable and I can't remain.

    3. Out for a Ride on a Back-to-Back Couch Car

      by , 12-20-2020 at 08:51 AM
Morning of December 20, 2020. Sunday.

Dream #: 19,725-02. Reading time (optimized): 2 min.

My typical navigation of liminality and phasing sequences during sleep does not include waking-life identity at first or recall of what a dream is. The extraordinarily vivid experience of imaginary kinaesthesia is predominant throughout the first part of my dreaming experience.

Duality with vestibular phasing personification results in an unknown male driving a vehicle I ride in. The “car” is solely two back-to-back couches on wheels. It is similar to the couch I sit on in waking life, though I am on the far left (unlike at any time in waking life). We go through an unknown city. There does not appear to be a steering wheel anywhere. Somehow, as we are traveling, the unfamiliar man leaves. I remain on the front couch while his wife and at least one son stay on the back couch. Additionally, the “vehicle” is now speedily going in reverse over an overpass.

The realism of imaginary kinaesthesia, including the vivid sense of momentum and direction, is astounding. I become slightly wary at times, but I do not have any fear. The others, speeding forward, do not seem afraid. As the front couch speeds in reverse, I see cars on the street of the appearance they should have, yet which does not cause me to question why our “car” is back-to-back couches.

I consider I will try to stop or at least slow down the couch as our speed increases slightly. On the left end, below the arm, is a lever. (In waking life, this is the lever that extends the footrest.) As I pull it, I feel the couch slow down and come to a stop in the parking lot of a shopping mall. We all get out, and our driver is there looking at a storefront. Two people talk to him as they are leaving. They say they cannot give him a tour but invite him to look around inside the empty store. Dagwood Bumstead (from the “Blondie” comic strip) is standing nearby.

I begin to recall my waking-life identity, but I walk to an unknown residence where my family and I supposedly live. I walk through a room with a Christmas tree in the corner. I see the isolated shadow of a tree’s branch on the ceiling (truncated as a circular form), with no source, but I perceive it as random dirt I will remove later.

Somatosensory phasing begins with increasing liminal awareness of being asleep in bed in my dream’s final segment. Gustatory phasing coheres with somatosensory phasing. As a result, in my dream, I am on a bed. I need to clean candy sprinkles from it. I scoop them up to eat, and their taste is sweet. The hundreds of tiny pieces of candy form a pattern similar to a river delta. There seems to be no end to them as I continue to eat as many as possible. The bed extends several feet, even into another room. No matter how many sprinkles I pick up to eat, there are always several remaining.

    4. WA Reunion Ruined by Politics, Shrunk Cars Cause Mass Collapse

      by , 06-13-2017 at 07:44 PM
05-29-2017 -- The earlier one was also a bit strange. It seemed to be an odd cross between a political convention and a family reunion. We were in Washington, probably in the Snohomish house, except it was two or three stories and fairly large. There was a lot of discussion of old candies and stuff that were no longer available, but that we were trying to figure out how to recreate (including some sort of peanut butter cereal that we were determined to create again) while at the same time talking with the two lousy candidates from the recent election, and also an independent candidate or two who would have been far better than either of the real candidates.

Some of the folks from church were around (including Tom Drick and Jeff Steinberg), and I think Randy was the one actual relative that I could find in the family reunion that I recognized. I think in the dream, the absolute worst candidate won, and we ended up with Hillary as president, but we were at least happy that the very good independent choice (who I cannot remember ... maybe it was some TV hero or something) got some electoral votes or something. But whatever the exact results were, I was very disgusted, and decided that I needed to get out of there and take a break.

The problem was, the reunion was huge, and there was a driveway kind of like Dale's, long and narrow and blocked in, and when I went looking for my car to drive off, there were dozens of cars gridlocked in, and even when I went looking for it, I couldn't find my gray Corolla among them, much less be able to get it out of there. The problem was, there were so many cars (now turning into hundreds) that they somehow had to start shrinking them to fit them all in, so that they were piled 3 and 4 high, but were only about two feet by four feet in size. So now I'm looking through these hundreds of tiny cars, on several levels of a sort of parking garage structure that had been put together in this small driveway space.

But something went wrong, and the cars all seemed to still have their full mass even if they were suddenly about a tenth of the size, and they were starting to collapse the structure, because there was too much weight, and that caused the cars to start reverting to their normal size, and they were all beginning to crush together and break apart, while the parking structure was being forced to expand to contain them, and was tearing apart ever quicker.

Soon it was like one of the earthquake movies, with us running through the levels trying to get out, as things collapse around us, avoiding being squished by falling cars and concrete. We finally made it out of the structure and away from the house and driveway, thinking we were probably finally safe, just to find that we had such a large group and so much mass squeezed into such a small space that the exploding, re-expanding mess was now continuing to expand and started to fill up the entire state, somehow also causing horrible flooding.

Somehow we were stuck in a sort of garbage barge with huge flowing masses of the expanding damaged cars and structures, where we had to keep scrambling to stay on top of the stuff, so that we didn't get pulled into the huge hydraulic crushers that would have mashed us into a pulp. All very frightening and horrible, but still interesting to 'live' through.
    5. 5 days of DJ's due to Ice Storm issue & one DJ will make you roll w/ laughter!

Thursday January 12, Non-Lucid: My childhood friend Shannon & I & some other friends of ours were in some sort of picture posing contest. At the end we submitted the photos that we had taken at a checkout counter which was of course odd. There were rows & rows of candy.

Friday January 13, D1: Non-Lucid: I was staying w/ others at what looked kind of like a bed & bread & breakfast but it was actually a huge house w/ many several kitchens, floors, rooms & no sharing of bathrooms. It was very old but not run down. On the contrary that is what made it very beautiful. It had recessed panels in the walls which are something you might see an older library or very old home owned by someone wealthy. There was a creepy man running the "Inn". It felt like there were people in the walls which made me uneasy. It all felt like a very sinister situation which caused me to wake up. I snuggled up to Mike before I went back to sleep because I felt so uneasy.

Friday January 13, D2: In & out of lucidity: I unfortunately chained right back into the dream. This time me & the mans son who was also there found a dead woman in one of the walls in a kitchen. Me & the other guests weren't being allowed to leave now. I was pleading w/ the man's son that we wouldn't tell anyone if he could just help us escape but he was terrified of his father. The son was a grown man in his 20's so it seemed as though this more young man had seen many horrors for quite some time. Me & the other guests had many failed escapes which only made the owner even angrier. I finally just woke up out of fear.

Saturday January 14, Non-Lucid: I was in a minimum security prison but not sure why. I was in a class w/ Dana Carvey the actor/comedian. I was drawing a plan to escape but I'm not much of an artist. He said he'd give it some thought. Another day we came into another classroom much like the first & I sat in the chair that the "Top Dog" of the prison usually sat at. She was angry when she came in but finally let me sit there because I needed to sit there to see out the windows & out of door while I was sketching more ideas for an escape. Later she was very impressed by a fuse system I had developed to help us escape. My wbtb went off but I couldn't fall back asleep because I had to get up & check out the weather again. We have been doing this sense yesterday due to the ice storm warnings.

Sunday January 15, Non-Lucid: My childhood friend Bobby & I were at a water park. I really wanted to stay asleep because I haven't seen him in a crazy amount of yrs. But of course I did anyway. The dream was pleasant & just a typical dream of having fun at a water park.

Monday January 16, Non-lucid: This dream is funny but graphic so I need it to have a spoiler for ADULT CONTENT>

    6. Candy and grocery stores

Got home from work round 1:30pm. Made some hamburgers then took a nap around 4pm-9pm. Had a cool dream.

      DR1
I'm going down an escalator in a mall. Only it's not a mall, but a huge grocery store. Every food type has it's own huge section as big as a whole wing of a mall. I'm walking by the cheese section. There is nobody else there and it feels like it's out of the way. I'm trying to figure out what did cheese do to be sequestered like that, haha. Then I see the Laughing Cow cheese on the shelf and I understand : D

My brother is looking at coconut water in cans. They are green and kinda expensive. He wants to buy some but doesn't want to spend the money. I tell him to buy just one or two then. He says they taste good with vodka, haha.

I go back to get him a few cans, and there are only 3 other customers. All male. I'm kinda worried that if they wanted to do something to me, they could. One of them walks near me with a big pillow in front of him and I wonder if he is hiding an erection. (lol). He is manacing and I get away from there.

      DR2
I'm walking through a huge candy store. It's very bright and lots of glass and windows. Everything is very nicely displayed and organized and neat. There is 3 of us. Another female and a child. We are there for this kid who is picking out candy. I see containers of all kinds of cereal I have never seen before in waking life. They were all mouthwatering. I considered getting some, but there were so many kinds. One with strawberry and ssome other frosting looked especially enticing. We come to boxes on the floor that are full of some soft, marshmallow or cotton candy type of thing. I taste it and pick up two bags to buy. It's so good.

(Just before sleep, I ate almost whole bag of candy. Felt bad about it too)

    7. candy machines in the hallway

      by , 10-23-2015 at 02:38 AM
I was in some kind of big building. There were other people there, too. I was only casually aware of their presence, seeing them walking back and forth out of the corner of my eye. I was walking down this long carpeted hallway. There were some vending machines to my immediate left. Someone asked me if I wanted something. "Nah,I'm good," I said. I really did want something, but didn't think I had any money with me so I pretended like I was satisfied. I stuck my hand in my pocket and felt I had a bunch of change, which surprised me. "Ooh. I really am good," I said to myself. I stopped and looked at the different machines. Most were those small red candy machines with the knob and coin slot, but there was one that was different. The biggest machine was grey metal and quite old from the look of it. There were no markings on it to indicate what kind of machine it was. I had a handful of change, mostly nickels and dimes. I started to put the coins into this largest machine, but it wouldn't take the dime I had just inserted. There was a small round metal button, which I assumed was the coin return. I pressed it and something fell down into the opening under the coin slot. I saw a couple of wadded up dollar bills on top of something wrapped in green cloth. I started to take the money and whatever was in the cloth, but I noticed a black guy standing next to me. I thought the green cloth might be something illegal,so I didn't take it.
    8. The Curtain of Reality

      Color legend: Non-dream Dream Lucid

Lucid #2??: The Curtain of Reality

I’m walking through a darkened hallway in some kind of restaurant with my friend RF. There’s an enormous guy coming down the hallway in the opposite direction, tall, Hispanic, athletic-looking, and probably close to 300 pounds, built like a linebacker. He seems to be coming right for me, so I squeeze myself over to the side wall so that I don’t get flattened. Something about this feels dreamlike, and I become lucid.

I walk further down the hallway toward a door, but before I walk through, the scene changes into a semi-darkness like the void. I rub my hands together and keep walking forward, preparing for the next dream scene. From out of the darkness, a voice says, “Oh, that’s the guy who thinks he’s a wolf.”

For some reason I take this as an affront to my lucidity and I shout back, “I am the motherfucking wolf!” :canislucidus:

The voice falls silent and now I can make out repeated patterns in my field of vision, though it’s not at all clear what the patterns represent. I reach toward them and they respond to me touch, moving like cloth. I go into a long monologue about how “I’m peeling back the curtain of reality” and try to push these shapes aside to see what’s beyond.

Finally the “curtain” parts and I’m in semi-darkness, seated in a huge, ornate movie theater. The seats are filled with people, animals, and even unfamiliar alien creatures. They’re all staring drowsily at the screen, fascinated by what’s playing out there.

I can make out shapes and action on the screen, but don’t study it too closely since I’m fascinated by everything else I’m seeing. I feel like all of these beings (myself included) are gathered here to dream. I narrate to myself, “That’s what dreams are…”

As I look around, I notice that every moviegoer has a little icon above their head which indicates what kind of food they’re eating. One tall, insectile alien has an icon representing Hot Tamales candy bouncing over its head. Not long after noticing this,
      I wake up.

    9. #10: Bike trouble / Jungle / Good vs. Evil / Early vodka / Storror

      by , 10-14-2015 at 08:36 AM
      Non-dream
      Non-lucid
      Lucid

      Dream 1: Bike trouble
I've parked my omafiets (bicycle) in front of a pharmacy called Etos. I'm inside, buying some things. I take a bit longer than necessary, but I am out again within 5 minutes. I go back to my bike and notice that my chainlock has been cut, as well as my bikechain and my handbrake (an omafiets doesn't have handbrakes). Fuck. This is really shitty. I mean my bike is still here, but I can't use it now. I see a guy closeby get into the driver's seat of a car. The way he looks at me makes me suspect him, but I can't prove anything. I come up with a quick plan: I go back into the pharmacy and keep an eye on my bike through the window, though I make it look like I'm just shopping. I hope that someone will try to steal my bike and I can catch that person in the act. My plan ends up a bust.

I'm back in my student home. At least 1 guy is moving out. My focus point is still the fact that my bike is messed up. I don't wanna buy a new one; that's expensive! I can check FB to see if someone is selling bicycle parts. Still, it's real shit.

More happened at the house, but I can't really remember. This was a shitty dream for me cause of the bike.

Not sure if it's at this point or later, but I have a false awakening somewhere in the evening.

      Dream 2: Jungle
I'm walking into a jungle with.. my girlfriend I guess. We would like for a place where we could be alone. So far no luck. This jungle is in the Netherlands. Ah look a mountain, or a hill I guess. It's probably the [insert name of existing hill that I forgot] in Hilversum. Maybe there is a volcano too. No wait, we don't have volcanoes in the Netherlands. We keep walking and regularly see a few people. Eventually we're in a room full of people and a small party is going on.

I'm no longer with my girlfriend but with my female cousin, who is about 14 years old. A guy sneakily grabs her ass. She doesn't resist it. It pisses me off. I'm at a table where it's self service to get a drink. I take a plastic see-through cup, but it's been used already. Another one. Same story, except this one is still half full. I guess this whole stack is dirty. I manage to find one that is clean and pour myself a drink, I think a transparent one. I consider my options to fight the guy who touched my cousin's ass. Can I handle him with my knee's current condition? I decide to throw the little bit of liquid that's still in my cup at his face and then leave with my cousin. She walks ahead of me through a number of almost empty rooms. I keep up the pace a little bit, just in case the guy does decide to come after me. In the end I see a dragonball animation. Vegeta is coming after me. I quickly deduce that it's not the official one though, because the quality of the drawing/animation is really low

For those who don't know: the Netherlands definitely doesn't have a jungle (unless you count all the weed).

      Dream 3: Good vs. Evil
The location I'm at feels difficult to describe. It is outside, a sort of camp / community, a bit like how there are Gypsy camps I suppose. It's in the middle of nowhere it seems. It's daytime and I'm having fun with my group of best friends. We're going about exploring. One rule that applies here is that you can't mix a good colour (orange I think) with a bad/evil colour (purple). This even goes when you buy candy. There's a woman who sells really delicious stuff. She's sitting behind a glass window, sort of like some ticket sellers, but in a small caravan-ish construction. You can bring your candy to her, or she uses her own, and she will give you a sort of deep-fried candy or a macaroon. I go there multiple times. Even when buying this candy the rule applies that you shouldn't have good and evil mixed together. I pay the woman with what looks like Indonesian Rupiah's, but is just a bit different. The very last time I buy something from her I suddenly have to pay an extraordinary amount. Apparently this is due to the receipt roll having run out. I look on my receipt and see that I have to pay for the new receipt roll. What the hell? So if you're unlucky you suddenly have to pay a shitload? I'm not sure if she doesn't get that this doesn't make sense or if she is scamming me. I end up not protesting. I go towards my friends. I have my candy in the left pocket of my hoodie. I pull out an orange one and a bit later a purple one. My friend mentions that I can't do that. I tell him it's ok and that I have separated them: 1 colour in the left pocket, 1 colour in the right. It's a lie. On the ground is a circle (perhaps 1 m² big). It's moving (anti)clockwise. There are some brown (ground colour) stones in there which have differing heights from the ground (just a few cm's). It's a natural occurrence and the only place where you'll find orange and purple mixed. There are some orange spots and some purple spots. The kids are having fun playing a ridiculously dangerous game with it. Hit an orange spot with your foot and nothing happens. Hit a purple one and you slowly turn into stone, extremely slowly, starting from the foot you touched the spot with.

I'm on a market. There's a guy who looks like he is in his 30s - 40s. He looks like the mercenary kind of type. I can't recall the context, but he wants a teenage looking kid to join him on a mission. He is pissed off at the kid, shoves some weapons into his hands and they're on their way. He tells the kid he adjusted a shotgun specially for him, cause he is left-handed. He gave him a knife and possibly a handgun as well. I start to wonder why the kid doesn't just shoot the guy. They go to the camp. One of my friends has hit a purple spot. I panic, but can still think somewhat straight. We have to amputate his big toe, because that's starting to turn into stone. Knife! Where is the knife? Come on people! We need to save his life. Too late, the process has already started to spread to his whole foot. Too difficult to cut with a knife. Ok just blast the whole foot off with the shotgun! I pull the trigger. Nothing. Perhaps 3 more times. Still nothing. Fuck!

Somewhere something got switched and it's now my 1 year old cousin whose foot is turning to stone. My mom calmly bathes him, washing his foot. It helps. Wow!

Somehow it feels related to this dream. I am in my mom's kitchen. On top of the fridge is a light green bucket with big ass knives and what not. I take the butcher's knife. We can use this to cut off the toe. But since it's not real and we don't really wanna do it (just for the camera), we have to be careful.

      Dream 4: Early vodka
It's still morning. I'm joining my friends at the table. They're playing a drinking game with vodka already. This is gonna be a hell of a day... Within a few moments of me sitting down I've already downed 2 entire glasses of vodka. The game turns into a video game. The outcome of the video game decides who has to drink and how much. I get a call from a guy I used to be friends with, but haven't spoken to in a long time. I can't recall the conversation anymore, but it was definitely friendly.

I have another false awakening in which I note down some keywords about what I have dreamed so far.

      Dream 5: Storror
There are a couple of guys in a warehouse making a bunch of noise and having fun. I hear a couple of their names. Callum.. Sascha.. It's Storror, a British freerunning group. A cop comes out and wants to have a word with them over the noise they're making. Someone has complained. They're considering running away, but their names are already known, so what's the point? One of them goes to talk to the officer. The officer is suspicious of the pimped out car that one of them owns. He explains that he makes quite a bit of money of freerunning, so he can afford it.
    10. Lucid eating, and debt at a chocolate store

      by , 10-09-2015 at 07:07 PM (Mouka's Mind Palace)
      One:

I was on the back of a wagon with some other people, sort of like in the beginning of Skyrim, but I realized it was a dream and went lucid. I didn't really want to do some Skyrim thing because it's not really a game I like, so I tumbled off the wagon and watched it drive away. I was standing on a sidewalk and trying to get my bearings, making the dream more vivid and such.

Then I thought "Holy crap, you know what I've never done? ATE FOOD." You know, food is supposed to be more delicious in dreams. I mean, sex is friggin amazing in dreams, so why not food? There were trees lining the sidewalk, so I did the Willy Wonka thing (everything is candyyyy) and just grabbed a leaf from the tree and stuffed it in my mouth. It tasted like a fruit roll-up times a million, SO GOOD.

So I wandered along the sidewalk, eating leaves, until I came across a forest-like area. When I went into it, it was kind of an open area like a pine forest. But there was a SUBWAY in the middle of it. Subway subs are pretty bland, but it was a dream so I was definitely going to go for that. When I went inside, the cashier was completely ignoring me so I went off to the hand-off spot anyway and a few subs were already laid out. One was an Italian sub which is my favorite, so I figured it was for me, grabbed it, and took a big bite. It was friggin delicious, the greatest sub I've ever tasted.

As I stood there eating it, a guy came up and was all HEY WHAT THE HELL? Because apparently I was eating his sub, but I wasn't about to give it up, so I sprinted out the door and took off through the forest. This guy chased me. I eventually lost him, but I also lost the sub, I guess because I wasn't paying attention to it. With no food, I decided to maybe just fly off into space, since I was able to reach the moon before, so why not? I flew straight up towards a star, but instead of going super fast, I just sort of flew along at a leisurely pace no matter how hard I tried. Then I woke up.

      Two:

Cory and I were in the Godiva store, but we had no money. I seriously wanted chocolate badly, so I pulled out a credit card and just bought the entire store and we went into crazy debt. I remember sitting there eating truffles and being stressed over the money, but I didn't want to sell the store back because the truffles were so good. What was with these food dreams last night? At some point I was in the shower and my hair was falling out in clumps. When I woke up, I actually thought I was losing my hair for a minute.

      Three:

Another lucid dream, but I can't remember it. I was looking at my hands, and then I flew upwards and chanted some mantras to keep myself lucid. That's all I remember.
    11. A dollar off coupon, and Valentine's Day

      by , 07-23-2015 at 11:41 AM (Mouka's Mind Palace)
      CD 14 pre-O

I was at a grocery store with a dollar off coupon, and for some reason I thought I could just walk up to a register and get a free dollar if I just gave them the coupon. As I was in line I realized that was impossible, but I didn't want to embarrass myself so I grabbed a Ritter Sport bar and bought that. Once I did, I saw it was some gross sour milk flavor, and behind the counter I noticed a guy who looked like LeBron James unloading a box of the flavor that I liked, so I asked if I could switch them out. He said yes, but I'd have to get in line out back. So I wandered around to the other side of the register and there was a wall with a single door, and another line. As I was standing in line, Watson from BBC Sherlock was standing behind me, and I knew him, so I asked "So, how've you been?" and he furrowed his browed and looked at me puzzled and said "Sorry... who are you?" to which I replied "Remember, we used to solve crimes with Sherlock." Then he remembered me and said Ah. I asked him how Sherlock was and he said he hadn't seen much of him. I told him I hadn't either.

It was Valentine's Day and I was with Amy in a giant convention center type place. We passed by a gift shop that was full of people, so full that there were lines just to walk a circle around the store. She asked me if I wanted to go in and I said no way, but then I realized that she really wanted to go so I pretended to change my mind and we went in. I told Amy to pick out something and I'd buy it for her since it was Valentine's and all, so she chose this toy of Mickey Mouse on a bicycle with a thing of candy attached to it. I also saw those little boxes of Sweetart hearts but the hearts were Spree instead, which was awesome.

I was escorting a dangerous criminal out of a building with some man in a blue jacket. We were waiting by the elevator with this criminal chained up and there was a random person standing behind us, so I wanted to kind of freak him out. I leaned over to my escort buddy and whispered loud enough for the person to hear "Can you imagine if we lost this guy? The whole building would have to be shut down and quarantined." The person totally looked uncomfortable haha. Unfortunately I jinxed it and the criminal actually got away and jumped into the elevator by himself. We grabbed the next elevator, but realized it had only one button so we could've just run down the one flight of stairs and intercepted him quickly.
    12. Sparked + Victorian Gentleman + Let the Right One In (NLD + DILD + FA)

      by , 03-12-2015 at 07:36 PM
Ritual: WTB 1am, WBTB 6-7am recording NLDs, woke 7:45am with DILD + FA.

NLD, "Sparked": Walking home at night. Someone drives past in a dark vehicle and I say, "Turn on your lights!" Then I feel embarrassed when I notice she is actually walking. She enters the apartment two doors ahead of mine. The door next to her place is open, and there are people just inside it who give the impression that they are workers, not residents. My bed is the first thing I see when I open the door of my apartment, and I'm pleased to see a large box on it. Oh good, that thing I ordered has arrived.

After looking through the first box and strewing its contents, plastic wrap and styrofoam all over my bed, I open a smaller box that has also arrived. It contains a speaker that I ordered. When I first pull it out of the packaging I am disappointed: the surface is surprisingly dirty. Is it just shelfworn, or did I get a refurbished one by mistake? I'll be annoyed in the latter case, since I thought I was ordering a new one. There is some molded styrofoam that seems like the original packaging, if that's any clue.

The speaker weighs almost nothing, and I remember that this is a special lightweight system. It's portability is limited by its size, however, at about 8x10 inches. The back of it consists of flaps are supposed to fold together in a clever way. As I go to remove the last of the styrofoam supports, something unusual happens inside my head, like an electrical disruption.

I remain calm and think I'd better tell my roommates about this in case it incapacitates me and I end up needing medical attention, so I say aloud: "Hey guys, something weird just happened to me. I felt a "pop," saw a flash of white light, and now in the back of my head I hear a tone that is steadily increasing in frequency."

"You need more sleep," someone suggested. He could be right, but I didn't see the relevance. I do want to go back to bed but I'll have to clear all the box mess off it first.

What was happening to me? I had a contextual clue, at least: "It happened when I touched the speaker for the first time." Perhaps the device had built up some kind of strange electrical charge that I had triggered?

All this time the tone was whining to higher and higher pitches, and I waited with curiosity and slight anxiety to see what would happen next. When it seemed like it had become so shrill that it would soon pass beyond my auditory range, all that happened was that I woke up.

Note: The other day I read about "exploding head syndrome." This might have been a minor instance of it! The "popping" sound and flash of light are apparently classic symptoms. This is only the second time I've experienced something like this.

DILD, "Victorian Gentleman": I'm at a computer trying to order something online. I don't recall what it was, but the cost was over $200. There were some complicated webforms to navigate, and then after some difficulty finding my wallet, my credit card was missing. Meanwhile my stepmother-in-law comes over and offers to let me run her card instead. "No, no, no, no," I say quickly, trying to deter her, having just spotted mine on the table. Too late, she has already run her card and made the purchase. Well, that was nice of her, even if it wasn't what I would have asked for. I should show appreciation. I hug her and say, "Thank you."

Walking outside afterward, I have second thoughts. Was I rude to simply thank her? Maybe she hadn't intended the action as a gift. But even if she had, perhaps it would have been more polite of me to ask when she wanted me to pay her back, and that would give her the option to be magnanimous and say it wasn't necessary. But if she had assumed I would pay her back, wouldn't it be rude of her to create an extra hassle for me that I hadn't asked for? I had told her "no" and she did it anyway. I conclude that under the circumstances, my response was adequate and I should let it go.

As I walk back in the house, behind me I hear a man's voice, distinctively low and gravelly. It is really familiar. Who is that guy? I think he must live next door; I'm always hearing that voice. I sneak a look back before going in and spot him: he is older, gaunt, with straggly grey hair. I think he looks like an aging biker or a math professor (they can look more similar than you might think!)

I continue in the house and decide to repack my suitcase, which is in disarray, when it occurs to me... wait. I have the impression that I hear that man's voice all the time, but I suddenly suspect that I only hear it in dreams. Could this be a dream, then? I realize that it is. This gives me the confidence to go back outside and approach the guy, intending to find out who he is. I would not want to so brazenly walk up to a stranger in WL, but this is my dream so there is no reason to hesitate. As I step back through the door I find myself with handful of silver rings in my right hand that I am putting on the fingers of the left. Why did I grab so many? I'm going to have to put multiple rings on each finger to make them all fit.

Only one person is in sight now, a dapper gentleman in Victorian dress walking by from left to right. He has a neatly trimmed beard, a black frock coat, and a top hat. I've always been fascinated by that era, but in dreams I've never been successful in my attempts to meet historical figures. I wonder if he'll really acknowledge being from that time period. Maybe he's just dressing up?

I get his attention and ask, "Are you from the Victorian era?" He confirms it. I'm interested now so I start walking alongside him, suggesting, "Tell me about yourself." As he begins to reply, I look more closely at his face and realize that he is strikingly good-looking. On a whim I seize his arm and pull him off the road, then push him against the door of a nearby house and start kissing him, thinking meanwhile that in waking life I would never do this with a stranger. Though taken by surprise he responds willingly. The only thing marring the pleasure of the kiss is a little piece of fingernail in my mouth—I must have been biting them—and I try to move it with my tongue so it won't come into contact with his mouth, which would be awkward. During a break in the kissing I manage to swallow the bit of nail, and the gentleman never seems to notice.

After that interlude we continue together down the street. It's odd that I so quickly lost interest in my more intellectual inquiries and succumbed to mere erotic instinct... and annoying, in that I never did get to hear the DC's account of himself. My lucidity apparently faded quite a bit in the process (it was never very keen in this dream), because it doesn't occur to me to ask again, and instead I just walk along with little further thought.

We stop at a shop whose front opens right onto the street, and the gentleman wants to buy an unusual kind of candy that I've never seen before. It is some highly-processed, artificially flavored substance that comes in brightly colored plastic packages. The package can be activated in such a way that its contents will burst out like a foam snake. This is marketed to kids as a toy as well as a snack: they can have mock battles trying to hit one another with the candy snakes, then eat them afterwad. The girl minding the shop explains this to me while showing her a green stain spot on her T-shirt from where one of the candies had landed on her. So they stain clothes, too? I look down and am glad to see that I'm wearing something casual.

FA, "Let the Right One In": I wake up and get out of bed to record the dream. I don't notice anything unusual as I'm walking across the house, but pause in confusion as I go to sit down at my computer. Where's my chair? Why would my chair be gone? Surely I'm not dreaming? At first it feels improbable but gradually I realize that I am. Interesting... well, I want to explore this, but I don't want to lose my memory of the previous dream. It is still clear in mind, so I review the events and even recite a list of key words aloud to help fix my impressions. Then I look around to see what this new dream has to offer.

In contrast to the relative normality of the house, correct in layout but more sparsely furnished than normal, the view outside is catastrophic and extraordinary. A wide frozen river of swelling ice is flowing motionlessly where my patio should be, and cascading down toward the city in the distance. Just beyond it looms a mountain of pure white ice, with a matte, knobbly texture like that reminds me of spray-on styrofoam. Craning my head up, I can just see the narrow peak glittering in the sun. Everything looks incredibly clear and vivid, beautiful and frozen but apocalyptic.

The landscape is packed with people, whose clothes provide little patches of bright color. Bodies are frozen into the river and wander in groups along its banks. The only place free of people is the slopes of the ice mountain, steep and white and pristine. As I turn my gaze from the east, where I saw the river and mountain, to the south, the view becomes more grim. A whole crowd of people outside presses right up against the glass wall of my house, looking longingly inside, their bodies almost grey with cold and frost. I feel compassion for their plight, but I'm not sure what to do about it. My house is not big enough to accommodate even a fraction of the throngs who want to get in.

The people on the left, closer to the river, were all standing very still, but as I continue along the wall to the right, the people on this side are becoming more restless, with a few actively trying to break in. Some are attempting to cut holes in the glass. I wonder how long before they'll get through, and realize that I might need to start warding the walls against them. Then I see a segment of glass fall in, and realize that one woman has just succeeded in making a hole. It is about three feet high and a foot or so wide, in the shape of a narrow heart or mitten. Before she can slip through, I aim my flat palms toward the gap and begin to refreeze the glass (I don't seem to be distinguishing between ice and glass here). After a thin layer of glass or ice manifests over the hole, I pick up the piece that was removed and put it back in place, willing the gaps to fill in.

As I continue along the wall, the situation is getting even worse. There are already more holes. In fact, one woman has just crawled inside. I pick her up like a manniquin to remove her. The crowd is too think to restore her to ground level, so I toss her on top of the others... she can crowd-surf.

I come face to face with another woman who has made a hole in the glass. "You're not real, you're not real," I protest against her attempted incursion. It occurs to me that I should respond to her vaguely threatening presence with kindness. I embrace her and kiss her on the mouth, but she is oddly inert. It's like kissing a doll. I have nothing but a faint impression of staring blue eyes... blank eyes. "You're not real. Do you understand that? The reality of you is that you're not real."

She remains stiff and unresponsive, but doesn't back down, so I try an alternate tack. If she wants to get in the house so badly, then I will welcome her. I grab her arm and start tugging her inside. At this she actually resists, telling a woman standing near her outside, "Don't let go of my arm."

This is an interesting development. "Don't you want to come in?" I taunt. "A minute ago you were clamoring to come in." The dream ends.

    13. Candy store

      by , 03-07-2015 at 09:58 PM
      Backlog: 18 Feb

Yet another time where I couldn't make myself do a wbtb. Went to bathroom and took some lecithin in the least.

Slight alertness and not immediately falling asleep, but not quite a wbtb.

      Fragmented recall:

At some very low level of lucidity, I see these DCs walking backwards, in a way I am playing the forward and backward in time by thinking about it, it's kind of subconscious (but I can relate my attention to that). Then, I decide I want to control back my own movements and go in the middle of the street to jump back and in time. My back jump doesn't quite follow the right trajectory so I jump forward and try to reverse the movement. Some cars are coming but I know it's ok.

Other stuff happens and get distracted and lose my lucidity. I then have major issues with gravity, in the meantime my awareness goes up. It's super strange it's like I am weightless, floating up and can't stop the movement, so have to hold on to a street pole. For a while, I am like a balloon going up no mass whatsoever. I get lost in thoughts about posting about gravity in lucid dreams and that I am having this weightless problem. Thinking seems to distract me from the issue and I acquire normal weight and am back at street level.

It's a nice day in some foreign looking town. I remember the candy store task, but at the same time feel that am running out of time. There is a street store with an indoor as well as outdoor section just ahead so I hurry towards it. The outside section has all sorts of nice sweet stuff like sweet rolls, mini panettone, etc. The indoors section sells more candy-like things. There's a DC working there and I tell her to quickly give me the strangest candy and she hands me a pack full of roasted coffee beans with sugar. Not exactly what I was hoping for, I make a mental note and wonder about the taste. Just about to consume them when I wake up.

A time travelling dream scenario with semi random elements. I see my friends as their younger selves and pay attention to one of them. His present self now appears in front of me and I tell him what I saw.

Fragments. Awareness gradually goes up as I discuss another time related change of personal in this cafe ahead. What's notable is I see myself in the mirror as a completely different person.

Can't remember more details but as my awareness gradually increases I detach myself from the situation and just continue walking around with no goal in mind. I end up in some sort of underground/tunnels that look a bit game like (think dwarf city, castles). The tunnels are averagely lit. My eyes tell me I've taken the wrong fork but I become more confident continuing ahead. I feel I am losing lucidity so just for the fun of it, decide to self assert and shout out loud that my body is asleep at this moment. I continue down the tunnel.

Slight apprehension as I feel something coming - just round the corner is a DC with two weird looking creatures much like wyverns. I pass right between them, they pay no attention to me. At some point in the tunnels I remember the candy store task again. Right ahead is a closed retro door and I think: "Why not, a candy store could be just behind it, think about this purposely and go ahead". I am happily surprised to find that the room indeed turns out to be a magically looking candy store. It has lots of colorful items, gemstones and candy, looks very fairy talish. No DC is working here, so I just grab the nearest weird looking small glass bottle full of gem-like looking candy.

Cute little aquamarine opaque pieces of this gem candy mixed with some sesame/flax seeds. I quickly pour them down my mouth making sure to empty the whole little bottle (meanwhile wondering did we have to consume the whole thing, remembering the bottle of wine task). I feel relieved at this point that I am able to properly chew them, taste them and not wake up. They taste really nice, like a caramelised sesame bar. I enjoy the moment a bit longer before the alarm wakes me up.

Think there was other cool stuff but can't recall.
    14. Star Trek Sneezes, Wooden Barge-Island (LD#120)

by , 10-12-2014 at 01:44 PM (Lucid Time!)
Man, I don't know what happened to me the night before last.

I recall bits and pieces some dream about forgetting a paper for a class in college, and then going back to my room to get it.

I recall being on the cast of Star Trek. I cannot recall if the dream was just about filming Star Trek, and if everything was being faked or if I was actually dreaming about a 'real' Star Trek scenario.
We are in this area (that I'm pretty sure isn't actually on the show) called the data core room. It is this huge maze of passages on the back of the enterprise with all of these clear blue glowing crystals on mounts in the wall. Supposedly they were some kind of memory crystals for the ship's computer system that kept track of all the star systems and alien races.
There is a group of 8 or 10 people. The only ones I recognize are Kirk, Picard, and Spock. I think some other famous characters were there. (I don't know, I've only seen a few episodes of Star Trek in my life.)
Anyways, we are back here because supposedly the air quality here is the best in the ship, and doing some experiment with this new disease that is supposed to be harmless. They release it and everyone seems fine except for this other character; A teenager with brown hair made into an afro.
The guy starts sneezing (ah-choo, ah-choo, ah-choo!) repeatedly, without stopping. He starts sneezing more and more violently, and eventually starts to sneeze up blood. Spock calls up a medical technician, but for some reason the guy on the other end is just screaming "AMBULANCE! AMBULANCE! CALL AN AN AMBULANCE RIGHT NOW!!"
Something seems familiar about the sneezing disease, but I can't put my finger on it.

I also notice that for some reason there are racks of candy in the area, and decide not to focus on the guy sneezing, even though I can still hear him. I look at the candy and consider buying some. Somehow the data core room was mixed with a candy store.
      ...
I somehow get 'outside'. I am on this (either cruise ship or island, I think it was an island but felt like a cruise ship). I get a little confused thinking this is actually the exterior of the Enterprise. There is this big wooden boardwalk with all of these restaurants along it. There are also these huge wooden wheel sculptures.
I see someone I know in WL (we'll just call her E). I go over next to her and we start talking about the sculptures.
Awww... what a charming, romantic moment in a dream. Wait a second, doesn't this person hate me in WL? Oh, yes she does, and right then she pushed me over the edge into the water. I fall into the water, and (ignoring the laws of buoyancy) I sink about five hundred feet all the way to the bottom.
I remember very clearly looking up and seeing the sunlight streaming down under the water and thinking about how deep I was.

I become fully lucid and thrust upward to get above water. Once I make it to the surface, I try to fly up out of the water and get back up there. I can't seem to lift out of the water. I then, for some reason, think of Avatar, and decide to try and make a waterspout and ride it back up onto the platform.
I begin to spin around, and I can see the water beginning to form a vortex around me, but then it just splashes back into the sea and comes apart.
I look back and see that (because it's a dream) I am now about half a mile away from the island. Great. Now I've got to get up onto the boardwalk and travel all of this horizontal distance.
Again, I think of the Waterbenders in Avatar. How they can 'surf' sometimes even without a surfboard. I start to push forward, and start to lift out of the water. I manage to get to the point where only my lower legs are submerged and I am moving along at a lazy 10-20mph. I don't feel like I am getting any closer to the island though.
I feel like I should be going faster. I try using a hand motion to accelerate. I try a couple different hand motions, looking to find the one that feels most fluid. None of these seem to be working.
Then, I see a massive wave coming up on the right. Higher than the island. It envelops (and probably destroys) the entire island. It is then coming for me.
It hits me and I immediately find myself deep underwater unsure of what direction is up or how deep I am. I can't see. It's just nothing.
But I still have my lucidity. I think maybe I can manifest a new dream. I try to picture being on another island somewhere. I start to see some palm trees and grass, as well as a calm, sandy beach. I start breathing and begin plotting where my body should be. Just as I think I've got it, I lose the dream and wake up.

I'm walking into a school with a group of kids. It was raining outside, and a guy is talking about how Jesus made it happen. I get irritated and say loudly "the water cycle!"'
      We all sit down.
An old friend, S , is here; she sits at the desk by me.
We now get separated into 2 groups for a game. The groups are the 'bible believers' and the 'nonbelievers'. As a surprise to me, and everyone else, I end up in the believers group. I think that it won't be bad, since I probably know just as much as the believers. An ex's brother is my group. I tell him he knows a lot about the bible and he laughs.
We are now at a dark baseball diamond, sitting against the cage, playing the same game.
The group goes somewhere - into town.
I, and 2-3 others, veer off from the group, down a little alley with shops on the sides. We enter a building. The building is dimly lit, quiet, empty, and impeccably clean. Shelves, boxes, and containers of candy, any candy you can imagine, fill up the walls and counters of both rooms. It's set up like a buffet, but with sweets.
I admire the candy, but tell the Asian woman behind the counter that I don't need any. She tells us to have a nice day and we leave.
Outside, I find myself alone and at a river. I try to cross the river, holding my shirt above my head while I swim with only my feet. The current catches me, but I grab ahold of a rock.
I see a figure under the water with his hand outstretched. I grab him and pull him up; it is my old friend, K. We get out and start walking along an empty road towards a lone building. There is a urinal built into the outside of the building. We talk about that.
